10 Things That We Can Learn About Shortages And Preparation From The Economic Collapse In Greece

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

When the economy of a nation collapses, almost everything changes.  Unfortunately, most people have never been through anything like that, so it can be difficult to know how to prepare.  For those that are busy preparing for the coming global financial collapse, there is a lot to be learned from the economic depression that is happening right now in Greece.  Essentially, what Greece is experiencing is a low level economic collapse.  Unemployment is absolutely rampant and poverty is rapidly spreading, but the good news for Greece is that the global financial system is still operating somewhat normally and they are getting some financial assistance from the outside.  Things in Greece could be a whole lot worse, and they will probably get a whole lot worse before it is all said and done.  But already things have gotten bad enough in Greece that it gives us an idea of what a full-blown economic collapse in the 21st century may look like.  There are reports of food and medicine shortages in Greece, crime and suicides are on the rise and people have been rapidly pulling their money out of the banks.  Hopefully this article will give you some ideas that you can use as you prepare for the economic chaos that will soon be unfolding all over the globe.

The following are 10 things that we can learn about shortages and preparation from the economic collapse in Greece….

#1 Food Shortages Can Actually Happen

Most people assume that they will always be able to run out to their local supermarket or to Wal-Mart and get all of the supplies they need.

Unfortunately, that is a false assumption.  The truth is that our food distribution system is extremely vulnerable.

In Greece, many people are starting to totally run out of food.  Even some government institutions (such as prisons) are now reporting food shortages.  The following was originally from a Greek news source….

The financing for many prisons has decreased to a minimum for some months now, resulting in hundreds of detainees being malnourished and surviving on the charity of local communities.

The latest example is the prison in Corinth where after the supply stoppage from the nearby military camp, the prisoners are at the mercy of God because, as reported by prison staff, not even one grain of rice has been left in their warehouses. When a few days earlier the commander of the camp announced to the prison management the transportation stoppage, citing lack of food supplies even for the soldiers, he shut down the last source of supply for 84 prisoners. The response of some Corinth citizens was immediate as they took it upon themselves to support the prisoners, since all protests to the Justice ministry were fruitless.

#2 Medicine Is One Of The First Things That Becomes Scarce During An Economic Collapse

If you are dependent on medicine in order to survive, you might want to figure out how you are going to get by if your supply of medicine is totally cut off someday.

In Greece, medicine shortages have become a massive problem.  The following is from a recent Bloomberg article….

Mina Mavrou, who runs a pharmacy in a middle-class Athens suburb, spends hours each day pleading with drugmakers, wholesalers and colleagues to hunt down medicines for clients. Life-saving drugs such as Sanofi (SAN)’s blood-thinner Clexane and GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK)’s asthma inhaler Flixotide often appear as lines of crimson data on pharmacists’ computer screens, meaning the products aren’t in stock or that pharmacists can’t order as many units as they need.

“When we see red, we want to cry,” Mavrou said. “The situation is worsening day by day.”

The 12,000 pharmacies that dot almost every street corner in Greek cities are the damaged capillaries of a complex system for getting treatment to patients. The Panhellenic Association of Pharmacists reports shortages of almost half the country’s 500 most-used medicines. Even when drugs are available, pharmacists often must foot the bill up front, or patients simply do without.

#3 When An Economy Collapses, So Might The Power Grid

Try this some time – turn off all power to your home for 24 hours and try to live normally.

Sadly, most people simply do not understand just how dependent we are on the power grid.  Without power, all of our lives would change dramatically.

In Greece, authorities are warning of an impending “collapse” of the power grid.  If it goes down for an extended period of time in Greece, the consequences would be catastrophic….

Greece’s power regulator RAE told Reuters on Friday it was calling an emergency meeting next week to avert a collapse of the debt-stricken country’s electricity and natural gas system.

“RAE is taking crisis initiatives throughout next week to avert the collapse of the natural gas and electricity system,” the regulator’s chief Nikos Vasilakos told Reuters.

RAE took the decision after receiving a letter from Greece’s natural gas company DEPA, which threatened to cut supplies to electricity producers if they failed to settle their arrears with the company.

#4 During An Economic Collapse You Cannot Even Take Water For Granted

If the power grid goes down, you will soon no longer have clean water coming out of your faucets.  That is one of the reasons why it is absolutely imperative that the power grid stay operable in Greece.

Sadly, most people don’t understand just how vulnerable our water system is.  In a previous article, I quoted from a report that discussed how rapidly our water supply would be in jeopardy in the event of a major transportation disruption….

According to the American Water Works Association, Americans drink more than one billion glasses of tap water per day. For safety and security reasons, most water supply plants maintain a larger inventory of supplies than the typical business. However, the amount of chemical storage varies significantly and is site specific. According to the Chlorine Institute, most water treatment facilities receive chlorine in cylinders (150 pounds and one ton cylinders) that are delivered by motor carriers. On average, trucks deliver purification chemicals to water supply plants every seven to 14 days. Without these chemicals, water cannot be purified and made safe for drinking. Without truck deliveries of purification chemicals, water supply plants will run out of drinkable water in 14 to 28 days. Once the water supply is drained, water will be deemed safe for drinking only when boiled. Lack of clean drinking water will lead to increased gastrointestinal and other illnesses, further taxing an already weakened healthcare system.

What will you do when clean water stops coming out of your faucets?

You might want to start thinking about that.

#5 During An Economic Crisis Your Credit Cards And Debit Cards May Stop Working

Most people have become very accustomed to using either debit cards or credit cards for almost everything.

But what would happen if the financial system locked up for a period of time and you were not able to use them?

This is something that the citizens of Greece are potentially facing in the coming months, and this is something that all of us need to start thinking about.

#6 Crime, Rioting And Looting Become Commonplace During An Economic Collapse

Big corporations are already making extensive plans for how to protect their stores in the event that Greece switches from the euro to the drachma.

The following is from a recent Reuters article….

British electrical retailer Dixons has spent the last few weeks stockpiling security shutters to protect its nearly 100 stores across Greece in case of riot.

The planning, says Dixons chief Sebastian James, may look alarmist but it’s good to be prepared.

Company bosses around Europe agree. As the financial crisis in Greece worsens, companies are getting ready for everything from social unrest to a complete meltdown of the financial system.

#7 During A Financial Meltdown Many Average Citizens Will Start Bartering

During this economic depression, alternative currencies have already been popping up in Greece.

When things fall apart on a global scale, will you have things to barter for the things that you need?

#8 Suicides Spike During An Economic Collapse

When you think of the Great Depression of the 1930s, what do you think of?

Many people think of images of people jumping out of buildings.

Well, something similar has been happening in Greece.  Suicide statistics in Greece have been absolutely soaring during the last couple of years.

Once prosperity disappears, many people feel as though life is not worth living anymore.

#9 Your Currency May Rapidly Lose Value During An Economic Crisis

Just remember what happened in Germany during the Weimar Republic and what has happened recently in places like Zimbabwe.

The truth is that it can happen anywhere.

Right now, Greeks are pulling their money out of the banks because they are worried that their euros will be turned into drachmas which would rapidly lose value.

If I was living in Greece I would definitely be concerned about that.  The return of the drachma seems to get closer with each passing day.  Just check out these screenshots.

#10 When Things Hit The Fan The Government Will Not Save You

Has the government of Greece come to the rescue of all of those that are deeply suffering right now?

Of course not.  The truth is that the Greek government can barely take care of itself at the moment.

History has shown us that governments simply cannot be counted on when things hit the fan.

Just remember what happened during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

In the end, the only one that can be counted on to take care of you and your family is you.

So you better start preparing.

Unfortunately, as I wrote about the other day, time is rapidly running out for the global financial system.

Even some of the top economic officials in the world are warning that another major crisis could be on the way.

Just check out what World Bank President Robert Zoellick said the other day….

“Events in Greece could trigger financial fright in Spain, Italy and across the eurozone. The summer of 2012 offers an eerie echo of 2008.”

He also compared a potential exit of Greece from the eurozone to the collapse of Lehman Brothers back during the last financial crisis….

“If Greece leaves the eurozone, the contagion is impossible to predict, just as Lehman had unexpected consequences.”

So what are some things that the average person can do to get prepared?

Well, a recent article on entitled “The List: A to Z Survival for the Abysmal Times Ahead” contains hundreds of ideas for preparing for the chaotic economic environment that we are heading into.

Preparation is going to look different for every family.  No two situations are exactly the same.

But there are some practical steps that nearly all of us can take to better position ourselves for what is coming.  Now is the time to get educated and now is the time to take action.

Or you could be like all of those that laughed at Noah while he was building that big boat.

In the end, things did not work out too well for those folks.

  • r.bitting

If The people would seek out God with the same sense of urgency they seek advice on prepping, Michael’s economic collapse blog would no longer exist, we would once again be a nation blessed by God. Unfortunately for Michael, and us, it looks like he will have to continue to burn the midnight oil trying to awaken the masses. Michael, I suspect your objectives were ultimately never really about awakening the masses for the collapse but something much bigger. God has his people in position to make a difference for such a time as this.

    • GaryToo

gods people are about to make liars out of jesus, the apostles and prophets, the original collapse bloggers?

      • Change?

        You’re an idiot

      • GaryToo

        strong argument, very convincing.

    • Rancher

      The world is full of…”if’s”.

You best wake up my friend and look around you. We are surround by ourselves, believers, no believers and so forth. That has been that way since before the country ever got started.

God blesses faith based actions. Therefore I prep for what others are causing to fall down on me. You see sir I love/respect God, debt free, share and give some but non of that is going to fix other people and what they are causing.

God is NOT going to super naturally protect the nation from what it has and is doing to itself. The rains fall on the just and unjust alike and we all reap from what has been sown here as well. Whether you sowed it or not you are a passenger on this ship. Not an island….

      • r.bitting

Rancher, no one ever said that God had any intentions of protecting the nation AS LONG AS IT’S PEOPLE REMAIN ON THEIR CURRENT PATH. However, God does state in his word that if his people would pray, seek his face, and turn from their sin, that He would hear their prayers and heal their land. Is that not EXACTLY the point I made. You place more faith in your own ability than in God’s protection. The bible is full of examples of those who trusted soley in God for deliverance because they knew that only God could ( See Hebrews ch. 11 ). This sir, is a lesson that you are about to learn for yourself, albeit the hard way. Do you really think that you will save yourself by hunkering down in the Potato state, you, and your little prepper colony with your shotguns pointing out the windows to hold off the would be looters who are after your food and water supply ( Yeah, now that sounds like God’s annointing for a believers life ). You are the one who needs to wake up. If the nation would turn from it’s sin, preppers would not exist. Maybe you would be better served prepping to meet God.

        • thiscreepingmalaise

tell that to the Christians thrown to the lions. I am sure they were praying right up to the end also. I am also pretty sure the end has already been written and it does not include this nation turning from it’s sin. If they did then the 28% of the bible that is prophecy would be proven to be hogwash, and I do not believe that is the case. Perhaps it is the Lord’s will that caused some to become preppers and that you do not know HIS Will!!!!!!!

          • r.bitting

thiscreepingmalaise…. If the nation turned from it’s sin, God’s word is clear that he would relent from it’s destruction ( Ezek. 33:11 ). The 28% of bible prophesy you speak of was written because God knows we won’t turn from our sin. Also, I hardly believe that at the time of the end, that it’s the Lords will for his people to be barricaded away in some hole with a years supply of food while the rest of the world is about to sink into hell. Rather I believe it to be his will that as many as can be saved, be saved, because some will not be saved until they are brought to the end of themselves. As for the lions den, seems like there was this guy named Daniel…. ( Rev. ch. 12.. they did not love their lives to the death ).

    • Mark

The problem is there is no such thing as a god.

      • Lynn

The Bible says that you’re a fool-even the demons tremble at His Name!

        • DAS

Oh, the bible said it! It must be true. Lynn you are the fool

          • DB200

Could you provide me any solid evidence where in the Bible I can find any lies?

        • Doris Evans

So true even the demons believe in God and tremble, James 2-19.

      • kiwijim

You WILL change your mind Sir…one second after you take your last breath.

I pray you seek Him out my friend, for NOW is the hour of your salvation.

        • Doris Evans

So true seek the Lord while the blood is still running warm in your body, because when you are dead it will be to late, your soul lives forever, the body dies but your soul lives, there is a heaven and there is a hell, there is a God whether you believe it or not, there is still God, God gives humans free well you can except him or reject him,God sent his only begotten son to die for our sins Jesus paid the price, some people will look at the bible as a fairy tale, but it is not, in the last days men will make the word of God out of fables and we are living in the last days, and I see people making fun, but God is merciful he is giving humans a choice, it is your choice where you want to spend eternity.

        • Kev

Ah,the usual resort to threats and intimidation.Maybe Marx invented religion eh?

      • r.bitting

Mark, thats troubling, but thank goodness there are people like you, who have all the answers to the origin of the universe. Now all you have to do is share it with us and we won’t have to go through life in ignorance. awaiting your response with great anticipation! BTW, Can you believe that these Christians actually believe that you need a cause to have an effect?

      • McKinley Morganfield

You, along with r. biting, lynn, and others; are arguing about a color found at sunset on a planet in a galaxy 10E9 light years away from planet earth. You nor they can answer the ‘god question’. Respect their beliefs and let it go. Same goes for the ‘god people’. Let it go, respect Mark’s opinion.

        • r.bitting

Mckinley Morganfield. . . Get off the fence.

        • Tim

Free will is liberty. with this brings responsibility for your own actions. You can have the best of both believe in God and your responsibility to take care of yourself and family (maslow) while respecting others beliefs because it their free will ( which is Gods gift). Bottom line is you read my mind. A lot of my friends have different beliefs than mine and we still get along and respect each other. So to all the arguing on this wall please drop it. You won’t change each others minds. Go feed a homeless person or just pay it forward for humanity, and prepare of course think Maslow.

      • thiscreepingmalaise

That is your opinion and you are an idiot!

    • erheault

********** I thought God helps those who help their selves.

      • Lynn

The concept that “God helps those who help themselves” cannot be found in the Bible.

      • GaryToo

erheult you nailed it. many pray for an apocalypse because they believe there will be a rapture that will teleport them out of thin air out of trouble. others say the gospel is not about trying to analyze the future. others ignore that while daniel survived the lions den, thousands of others were eaten while praying for deliverance.

        • r.bitting

GaryToo. . . God used the persecution and deaths of those early believers to spread the Gospel message. But notice what those early believers were not doing, They weren’t barricaded away in some hide out with a years supply of food waiting for the persecution to stop, rather, at the risk of their own lives, they made it possible for the message of Jesus Christ to be spread throughout all the world, making it possible for those of us in the 21st century to be saved.

          • GaryToo

            r. bitting,
i dont see how the deaths of the early believers spread the gospel, their deaths would only show their prayers for deliverance went unanswered. their deaths were what rome and god gave them for spreading the gospel.. Soon after rome adopted christianity as its religion. Rome then became worse than sodom and gomorrah and was sacked.

As you acknowledge, the 30% odd in the bible dedicated to prophesy, is written in stone because the rule of satan for now will not change. However there are verses regarding the preppers, such as in the end timses referring to “those dwelling securely in the mountains”. I dont believe that is jeremiah johnson or grizzly adams. but people doing it NOW.

Secondly it is written “unless those days were cut short no flesh would be saved”.

While it is very brave to want to wander the streets preaching or doorknocking preaching in the middle of looting, raping and rioting in the streets and door to door, some of us bewlieve there is a point when like noah its time to shut the door and be the flesh worthy to be saved (physically saved).

Many of us are not prepared to watch our families starve or be murdered on the off chance the mob that came around is ready to hear me preach.

The precedent set for sodom and gomorrah that 3 decent people could not be found to warrant saving the city is still here now. Are you sick of all the filth on the radio and tv bombarding our kids?

Well it only takes 2 complaints to the broadcasting standards board to reqwuire them to remove or change it if you find it offensive. Same deal exacxtly. two decent enough to object cant be found. Most of gods people are the ones who jesus says he will spew out of his mouth, and say I dont know you. Think about it.

I believe you have a point that if you are out in public

      • polly

that is not found anywhere in scripture… i don’t know where it came from but not from scripture

    • DB200

I once read a remark at this blog by one of the readers that said that people are more busy planning their vacation than planning their eternal life.

Which more or less in line with what you say.

    • KPeterson

I don’t typically respond much on these sites but you made a statement that resonates what the Holy Spirit shared with me several weeks ago. “God has his people in position to make a difference for such a time as this.” I do believe you are absolutely correct. Those who want to complain about us Jesus freaks will be the first to ask us for help when these tough times come, and they are coming. While it would be nice to say, “I told you so,” it will be more of a joy to help anyone who needs and asks. May God bless us, strengthen us and give us wisdom! Get ready for the “The harvest is great, and the labourers are few.”

    • justamom

I appreciate your comments, r.bitting. You always bring relevant, spiritual insight to this blog. Thanks!

I have been thinking that the economic pain and trouble ahead will be a wake-up call to the world. Some people will become hostile, angry, and antagonistic toward God, and there are those who will seek the Lord as never before. I think that those who draw near to God will find strength to stand in the midst of the storms and boldly bear His name….and perhaps ultimately avoid the great delusion and resist the mark of the beast.

In other words, the coming economic collapse in our nation will be a defining moment for the real Christians.

Perhaps you will comment on this thought. 🙂

    • Mark

I appreciate your sentiment but you are so wrong; this generation is wicked and will never conform to righteous standards set down by God, Jehovah! They are a wicked and accursed generation and doing just like Eve and later Adam, their own thing! They could care less about God, Jesus, or anything else for that matter! Armageddon will settle the matter when Jesus Christ, Son of God, rides on to victory destroying all those who hate him and his Father, Jehovah God!

  • Washington

Uploaded by CollectiveCheckup on Jan 3, 2012 This is Ron Paul’s famous Predictions speech from April 24, 2002. This is the original video compiling recent images and video to give his speech a chilling effect.

    • Sorry, I’m not going to watch a video by Ron “Gooball” Paul. Bwah, haha.

    • DB200

      Interesting video.

Here’s one of a democratic presidential candidate in 2007, Dennis Kucinich:

I like this guy just as I like Ron Paul.

    • Ian

Brilliant video and it is all coming TRUE NOW! Thanks for sharing. The pig ignorant sheeple will ignore the bleeding obvious until it is too late. Ron Paul is a hero against debt slavery and lies. He is the greatest politician the U.S. has ever had. It is all crumbling now because people refused to listen to him.

  • Hazzard.

The sad thing is I tell people about all this kind of stuff, and the thing is, they just don’t care. They don’t think their happy little bubble could ever pop.

They might get a surprise soon….

    • Jodi

      Absolutely true! PEOPLE WAKE UP!

    • hecatesmoon

I have to be careful of who I say things to or how I say them. If I’m not, people will start wondering if I am “ok”. I am very happy that I know one small group of people north of me that are prepping also. Everything I have read said find a support network and I thought it was silly- I don’t need mental or emotional support to prep- but its actually turned out to be comforting. There are some people I can talk to about it, share ideas with, show off projects with. Its nice. I don’t bother talking to “outsiders” so much anymore. Those people looking at me like there’s something wrong would end up being the same people wanting me to drain my food and water supply for them later on so I will just spend time talking about it now to people who would have something to bring to the table and who can carry their own weight from the start.

      • Mariah

I hear that! I have gone back and forth about how I feel. But ultimately its “better safe that sorry”. Right? I have children to think about. Food, water, herbs and guns to protect.

        • hecatesmoon

Definitely better to be safe than sorry. Maybe the stuff Michael says is going to happen will happen, maybe not. Maybe we will all live out our lives relatively uneventfully, but prepping is better than not, and supposing nothing so bad happens, so what? We learned skills most people don’t have anymore. We can take pride in what we learned and accomplished and best of all, we have actually had FUN doing it! So either way, it hasn’t been wasted. I think I have come to the conclusion that you can’t tell or warn people of anything. If watching tv and reading the news doesn’t make people stop and say “hmmmm” or if they are fatalistic and just choose to wait for disaster with their hands folded, they really cannot be helped. Drive or instinct or common sense or whatever you might call it is either built in or isn’t.

          • GaryToo

for sure my friend. there is the added benefit that these days there is almost nothing edible to eat or drink, eggs, chicken, beef, pork, dairy, all involve cruelty, hormones, concentration, pinkslime, and other unbelievable practices. Fruit and vegetables all poisoned and you can often taste it.

having your own rainwater, eggs, and fruit and veg, saves money and is more humane and healthy too.

  • Gary2

Michael–I would submit that we are already experiencing a world wide economic collapse. Its just at this point not as bad as it may or may not get. I think from reading some posts that some think one day normal, next day collapse. I think it is been happening since Dec 2007 and we are now almost in the 5th year of the collapse.

On a separate topic–can you provide a list/links to the different web sites you operate? You at one time said they were “not ready for prime time yet” but by now can you give us the list?

    • Michael

This is nothing compared to what is coming.

And there is one site that I did want to draw some attention to. We are currently relaunching the following site….

I don’t take guest articles on The Economic Collapse, but we do take guest articles on that site.

So if anyone wants to write about self-defense, home security, economics, finance, prepping or anything along those lines please feel free to check the Contact page to see where to send guest articles for publication….

      • Gary2

Mike-thanks I thought you had several religious themed sites?

        • Michael

Well, now that you mention it, one of the most important articles that I have written can be found here….

          • Mal R.

Aww, dont give that clown access to your religious stuff. Haven’t you noticed the way he mocks religion here? He’s going to pollute your other site now.

          • DB200

            @ Mal R.

How about the first amendment, freedom of speech?

      • ScoutMotto

Coo, another site. Thanks for all you do, Michael.

      • Good to see that you are relaunching the personal security site. Even though I no longer live in the city, the recent events (shootings) in Seattle make it clear that no one is truly safe anymore.

        — Gaye

        • Michael

Thanks. I am opening up that site to people that would like to post guest articles. It would be a good way for people that own prepper sites to feature some of their own work and promote their own blogs and websites.

  • Gary2

Good article–#3 is especially true. When the power goes out it is miserable.

    • MisterC

Because your EBT card won’t work?

  • flipping psychic

“History has shown us that governments simply cannot be counted on when things hit the fan.”

The problem isn’t that they can’t be counted on – it’s that they CAN be counted on to make things WORSE. After Katrina, cops turned refugees away at the city limits, that’s right, they forced fleeing citizens to remain in the flooded city at gunpoint, trapping them.

In Greece the government are mugging the populace for extra taxes even as the people lose their jobs and homes. They seem to relish making things worse – what shrinks call “joyful cruelty”.

  • mark

#1 is very inportant. We are ready for several years and we continue to raise a large garden, orchard and livestock.
#2 is more difficult. We have about 6 months of blood pressure meds and after that comes herbs.
#3 I will miss the power, it really makes life easy. We have 4 different generators and a lot of fuel. This is a temp. fix. We really need to invest in a solar and micro hydro system. These are very expensive and a lot of work to install. They are fragile in a EMP burst.
#4 is easy for us as we have gravity fed spring water. Since we have water pressure to the house when the power is out I installed a bidet so that you never run out of toilet paper.
#5 is a given. When you need to use your food storage credit cards aren’t going to work. You better have some cash in your safe.
#6 When the riots start you had better have lots of lead and the tools to use it. You had better work together with some of your neighbors as you have to sleep sometime. You will need the help of many as you can trust. You will need to feed them too I bet.
#7 I do not know how bad or primitive our sociaty would become so you will need many skills to trade your labor for goods. I know a fellow that doesn’t drink, but has a lot of booze to trade with drinkers. If you have the funds silver and gold coins could be handy.
#8 I am not going there. That is not for me.
#9 Cash will be good to pay your property taxes if no one else wants it.
#10 If a collaspe you will be on your own. It could be so bad that the police state grows and is not your friend if you know what I mean.
#11 This is the most important one that I would add to the list. Get yourself spiritually prepared as youi miught meet your maker sooner than you think as many will die form one thing or another.

    • Mariah

I have to “second” your #11

    • hi, you seem to know something about preparing for troubles. Honestly, I have no clue what we should do first, let alone next; and this is all so overwhelming to us. My wife and I both work, have six children, live in a rural area; but have put next to no thought with preparing for the worst. I guess I need someone to provide “to do” lists.

R Bitting: what do you call a person who has been called by God to help bring the truth to his faithful? Michael, I have read your writings for almost two years now. They are filled with compassion, understanding, and sorrow for the millions of people who will be consumed in the coming worldwide firestorm. the Greek curse, to know and see the future, but to have no one believe it. It may seem to you that all your work may come to naught. THIS IS NOT SO. For those of us who have read your words, and done our own homework. You have bought us precious time. Not time to heap up vast supplies for our own consumption. But time to prepare to give assistance and aid to those who shall be in dire need. God places each man/woman in the spot he has prepared for them. to be His hands on the ground so to speak. We all have a role in his plan. It is deep faith which tells me this with great certainty. As you write, you cannot know of the echos of your words of truth, and the effect they will have on exponential thousands. I stand ready in the place of his choosing. please know that you yourself have been standing right where you are meant to be. And it is by no means in vain. Thank you for your tireless work. Matthew

That comment means a lot to me. I don’t get to personally interact with many of the people that visit my sites each month, so sometimes it is difficult to judge how much of an impact they are having. But I believe doors have been opened for a reason and I am doing my best to be faithful.

And I think you made a great point. We have been blessed with knowledge and material preparations not just for ourselves. We have been blessed so that we can be a blessing to others.

    • r.bitting

Matt, I believe I was telling Michael that he was answering a call thats much larger than just preparing people for an economic collapse. I think Michael understood what I said.

    • Mariah

The name for a person who has been ordained by Yah to do a certain “job” is, a messiah. There have been many, and I pray there will be many more. We need those teachers and guides to help us through. Yah knows that, thats why He gives them to us.
This world is scary, there are those who are “continually evil thinking”…..but then there have always been those.
Then there are those who earnestly put their energy in a righteous direction, and we do it knowing we have to face the consequences it brings.

  • Evie

Everyone has medicine shortages even in the usa where we pay top price. Of course we had plenty of the meds we needed until the central planners took control. Now they will decide who deserves to live. Why did they computerize electric? Now it goes off all of the time for minor storms. More central planning bs. The world belongs to the people and not a group who wants everyone to go into debt to support the elite. This could only work if they make the world a better place. Looks like they failed. Everyone will have to start from scratch.and learn how to become a civilized society by not exploiting their fellow man. Wow is this even possible?

  • Greg

What is coming will make the current situation in Greece look like fun. The Government has known for years that resources and therefore growth are limited and finite. What have they done about it? Absolutley nothing. (simply because the corrupt lobby system prevents it) What they should have started doing about 15 years ago. Move away from the growth model to the sustainable model and immediatly institute population control measures. Total collapse theories (eg. Olduvai and Peak Oil) are written by real scientists. Not political scientists or economists. Everything they predicted in the 70s and 80s is coming to fruition. Total collapse. In fact the scientist who wrote Oluduvai theory predicted 2102 as the tipping point year. Think 6 Billion dead and the stone age and you are on the right track. I have agood chuckle wjhen some web sites talk about the coming depression. LOL. Depression implies recovery. There is nothing left to recover with. This will be close to an extinction level event.

    • GaryToo

excellent post greg, i get frustrated that many understand economic collapse but lament that we are not continuing on with unsustainable practices as well. The problem is not just politiciand and banks, its irresponsible and unsustainable pollution and growth, as well as other loss of morals.

    • Mal R.

“Total collapse theories (eg. Olduvai and Peak Oil) are written by real scientists.”

According to Man Bear Pig and the entire left, so are the global warming theories. And of course we know that’s a global scam. Under this olduvai theory, US standard of living peaked back in the 70s, which is demonstrably NONSENSE.

This is not a collapse of resources. The world is not out of resources and this financial collapse is due to nothing other than profligate spending, debt and State Capitalism.

      • GaryToo

Mal, i am open to what you say if you back it up.

1 as far as i am aware it is scientific community concensus global warming is a real occurrence. May be its only a theory that cutting down all our forests reduces the amount of co2 that can be reverted to o2. Maybe it is only at theory that as we steadily populate the earth exponentiallly and the number of polluting vehicles and industries increases along with it, the balance of co2 vs 02 tips. maybe the graphs tracking oceran tems increasing are only theory. Maybe the qualifications and peer reviewed research is done by amatuers not real scientists.

Maybe the global system which is for endless and infinite growth, where cleaner technology is equated with hurting the world or individual countries economy is ass about. maybe every leader drags their feet and every global conference to tackle climate change achieves nothing because it is a global conspiracy????

In te 70’s one wage could support a family, and that family could take drives just for the hell of it. Now 2 incomes struggle and people use their vehicles sparingly.

I agree there is plenty of resources left even if some have peaked. I believe soon enough if i r a n takes off tankers, pipelines, and refineries will, all be ablaze and those resources will become scarce and never get back to normal.

Being prepared is good and I highly recommend that everyone have enough supplies to least forthree months without having to leaving your home if possible.
But the most important preparation that we all can do is to know Jesus as our Saviour. Knowing Jesus as you Saviour and being surrendered to Him and trusting in Him is the best way to survive what is comming down the line in the next couple of years.
    Read Psalm 91

We can only prepare so much, what then? Our only hope is knowing Jesus. He alone will give us the strength to endure what is coming and don’t kid yourselves it’s coming and it’s going to hit us fast and hard. One day everything is fine the next total Kaos.

Who are you going to trust, the goverment? The media?your freinds? They know what you know and when things go nuts they wouldn’t be able to help you.
My trust is in Jesus He knows what’s coming and is in control.

Prepare your families survival but also prepare your souls for eternity.

America – wake up and take heed!!

Let’s say you are diabetic. You need insulin. But medical supplies have been disrupted. The pharmacy is running out of not only insulin, but everything else. Whatcha gonna do now?

News flash: When the power goes out, you can’t use the microwave. The air conditioning won’t work. Or the fridge, freezer, etc. Neither will your TV, unless it’s a battery powered one. Now what? Use the flashlights and pass the time playing “Life” or “Monopoly” around the kitchen table in your stifling hot, foodless home?

If you live in a rainy area, you might be able to collect enough rainwater to survive (provided it’s not illegal to do so… ha.) For those living in arid regions like Arizona or Nevada, well… prepare to fight the hordes at Wal-Mart battling for that last 24-pack of Dasani bottled water. (Self defense skills will prove useful in such a situation. If you so much as think about stealing that last bottle of Jack Daniels, you’re getting a karate chop in the neck. Hehehe.)

Keep laughing. That’s fine by me. Just keep watching the Miss USA pageant. Many people assume that “we’re gonna bounce back, we always have in the past, you preparedness people are freaks”, etc. All I can say to them is…

Enjoy life now while you can… because it will not always be this good.

  • Laura

I’ve slowly and quietly been preparing over the last 6 months. I don’t have a lot of funds for major things. Wish I could do more, but I’m not going to let myself roll over.

    • McKinley Morganfield

Water (and water purification), food (easy to prepare), energy (includes a way to cook), and then security (a shotgun at minimum) are the priorities. If you have very limited funds; everyday spend $5-10 on prepping. For security on a limited budget buy a single shot shotgun and a semi-auto 22 LR rifle from Marlin or Ruger. But first concentrate on water and food.

      • Terry

No… First get a couple guns and lots of ammo. Then you will have security and food and someting you can Barter.

The government will not save or help you. They are too busy saving themselves.

#1 Food Shortages Can Actually Happen:
The average age of small farmers today is about 63 years old. Farming is pretty much a government job now with all the insurance policies, educational requirements to get a USDA loan, and all the expensive programs. Only you can guarantee your food supply.

#2 Medicine Is One Of The First Things That Becomes Scarce During An Economic Collapse:
Stock up a supply, or learn to make it. The easiest ones to make are buffered aspirin, acetaminophen, chloroform, zinc oxide, penicillin (moderately difficult actually), and vapor-rub.

#3 When An Economy Collapses, So Might The Power Grid:
Build a methane digester and a windmill turbine Buy a natural gas generator and photovoltaic system. Buy the batteries if you must, but I have made them before. Also buy an electric management system (fuses, breakers, ammeter, etc.)

#4 During An Economic Collapse You Cannot Even Take Water For Granted:
Buy a large tarp, cut out a hole in the center, attach a tube or a funnel made from more tarp. Channel into proper containers. Build a well. Build solar and methane powered distillers. Liquid bleach is a little rough to make, but doable.

#5 During An Economic Crisis Your Credit Cards And Debit Cards May Stop Working:
Gold, silver, grain, sugar, and salt. If you don’t have the money with you; you don’t have the money. Ditch the cards early.

#6 Crime, Rioting And Looting Become Commonplace During An Economic Collapse:
This will most likely be at shopping centers and gov buildings. Homes will be targeted later. Prepare early.

#7 During A Financial Meltdown Many Average Citizens Will Start Bartering:
Learn to make something of value on your own from what raw materials you can get, or have a skill that’s still in demand.

#8 Suicides Spike During An Economic Collapse:
One word, “Chloroform.” They seem ready to try anything stupid – stop ’em!

#9 Your Currency May Rapidly Lose Value During An Economic Crisis:
Again: gold, silver, grain, sugar, and salt.

#10 When Things Hit The Fan The Government Will Not Save You:
They don’t care anyway. I used to work for them; they will take what they want and yell at you for anything.

  • Omar

Hey Michael, just wanted to say you obviously put alot of work into the site and the articles. I stumbled across “” as well, and figured by the sheer quantity of articles that there were several writers, but I can always pick out yours by the “DUN DUN DUN….Unfortunately…DUN DUN DUN…Sadly” rhythm they usually follow, which I love; the thorough citations and sourcing helps as well. Its a no nonsense approach.Agree with Gary, I’d like to see what else you’re working on, and I’ll do my part by sharing on FB and twitter.

    • Michael

I actually write all of the articles on this site and on The American Dream. But on some of my other sites I allow guest authors to share their own work.

And I am glad that you are enjoying the articles. 🙂

The supermarket sells generators. But where shall I store the gas. no use.

So I start using less to get used to it. Problem is still the fridge.
I fixed my tap yesterday, and the backpack. Need to get more Ziploc bags.
    Strangely, my savings go up.

Excellent article, although the Noah’s Ark part really destroys credibility unfortunately.

    • Chestertonian

Alex, I used to scoff at Bible stories also. But now I believe in a young Earth, special Creation by God, and geocentrism. My change of mind did not take place through a (real or imagined) supernatural experience but through extensive reading of scientific materials, including in library stacks in a research university and long following up of footnotes, etc. The facts of science and mathematics, not the speculations of Darwin, et al., definitely back up the truth of the Bible. Deo gratias.

a couple of months ago i was speaking to a greek guy (in australia) who was closing down his business making kitchen and office cabinets/cupboards. He had been operating there for 20 years and had missed one single payment on his machinery. The machine was being repoed. He said he could not competed with chinese manufacturers who could deliver exact orders made os in 3 weeks cheaper.

I suggested that the same problems in greece would spread all over the world and even here, that what was happening to him was symptomatic, banks getting tougher more corrupt, and all manufacturing going chinese.

He said no way, we would be fine, in greece everyone has a govt job but they dont make anything, they were not implementing the austerity, not cutting the public service, cant compare to us.

it reminded me of 10 years ago saying to chinese friends that everything was getting made in china and they would take over the world by trade. They said no way, the place was backwards, all peasants lucky to own a bike.

others just say ‘why are you spreading fear’. why???

    • Terry

Those communist Chinese will eventually realize that capitalism does not work when you loan people money to buy your products and never make a profit. They will come to understand that defaulting on debt is the same as working for free. They won’t be happy but hopefully they will have enough of our money that we can sell them something if we want it back.

  • Mind Candy

Excellent article, Michael, but I’d like to point out a concern regarding medical supplies. From my own experience, most medication seems to be regulated by insurance companies and the doctor’s prescription. Say the doctor prescribes a medication for you in “x” amount, 30 day supply, refill 3 times. Your insurance company will not pay for a refill until your initial supply is close to done. If you want to try to get the full amount of medication (the initial supply plus the 3 refills), you might be able to do it – if you have the cash to pay for the full cost of the medication. That’s horrifically expensive for anyone who has a number of medications they need to take. Even if that were possible, that still only gives someone about four months’ supply. The system is set up to keep people from building up significant stockpiles of prescription medication. If you (or anyone here) has a suggestion on how to obtain necessary medicines for long term emergencies, that would be excellent information to share.

    • Michael

      Very good points.

I think when things totally fall apart people will have to look more at natural solutions to their health problems because they simply will not be able to get many medicines.

      • Jodi

It’s easy to stock up on food and water but medicine scares me. My daughter has psoriasis and I’m not sure if there is a natural solution to that. I have to apply prescription oil to her scalp to relieve the symptoms. It’s a very worrisome problem.

        • kimintn

Hi – look into evening primrose oil for psoriasis. also, you can use plantain (not quite as effective). Can highly recommend “The Green Pharmacy Herbal Handbook” by James A. Duke, PhD.

          • kimintn

Also you can check out rosemary, it may be easier for you to use and store.

        • HecatesMoon

Jodi!!! I hope you see this, if not, hopefully someone will make sure you do. For psoriasis, use chickweed juice! Take chickweed with just enough water to blend it all good and apply it directly to the skin. I found that….hm…where did I find that…. I have an herb book, but I look at a lot of stuff online so…I learned it somewhere. Ha!

    • Mal R.

We use Express-scripts. They fill all 3 months at once.

    • hecatesmoon

Be afraid, but not too afraid. Start learning your herbs, how to make poultices and tinctures. There’s no cap on what you can buy or what you can find growing outside or what you can grow in a garden. There are herbs that treat just about anything and everything. Some have been used in the past to control diabetes even.

It is very hard to believe something could happen in the US but we are not going to be untouched. I’m not saying I am any better than anyone else, but I want to know my family will be taken care of and when I look at my grand kids, I know I will provide for them no matter what, I love them very much and that right there makes me do the best I can.

  • ryan

when it comes down to it, only need 3 things: food, water, gun. and ammo. that’s 4 things.

    • Terry

Unless you are diabetic or need some other medication or have children or elderly people to take care of. One out of every 4 people are currently on some kind of anxiety medication. They will really flip out when they run out of medication under the stress of a SHTF situation.

  • Rancher

The shtf fan list is OK but as the lead in states it a topic suggestion list. One MUST work around a site specific list to minimize costs and increase effectiveness. The list fails to address gathering with other well outfitted preppers for numbers work and safety. A pre determined survivable location….Stand alone preppers are simply storing food and supplies for others to consume as they lay there cooling down from the head shot they just took.

Most likely we will be under Martial Law ….which specifically bans public gatherings…. unless they are rounding up people to put in camps.

Can I point out a couple of great books written some time ago ? When Money Dies and Execution by Hunger. We are entering the new dark ages many will not make it.The best quote in When Money Dies is from an economist in 1865 . He stated (paraphrasing ) that when a currency fails there is nothing worse war, famine, pestilence, nothing .
We are a world adrift, lead by people unable to run their own lives let alone ours.

    • Terry

I can’t understand why the people with the most wealth (also the ones who have the most to lose) are allowing the idiot politicians to counterfeit and run up an unplayable debt and continue on a course that will surly bring bout an economic collapse. I’m beginning to wonder if the super wealthy really do run things?

  • Just remember, even if you’re prepared just a little you are much better off than those around you who are not prepared at all. The time for warning others is over, now you must be wise in the way you speak to others.

  • I am sure that the people in Greece felt that “it would never happen to us”. Well guess what? It not only happened to them, but it is going to happen to others around the globe as well.

We don’t know when and we don’t know if. What we do know is that it is best to learn self-sufficiency skills now, before it is too late.

When electricity fails we’ll lose water pressure. In a few days there won’t be any more tap water. It’s going to be very dangerous being outside after the collapse. If you have the storage space it’s vitally important to have a year’s supply of water. 55 gallon food-quality barrels with one teaspoon of bleach per five gallons of water. A barrel is 24″ in diameter. You can store 8 barrels or 440 gallons in a 4′ x 8′ section of basement.

    • Terry

A water bed is bigger and cheaper.

  • louie

    Regarding electricity….
We went through the Hurricanes of 2004/05 and lost our power three times…for 12 days, 9 days and 6 days.
Luckily the towns nearby had power…and food.
We were somewhat prepared for #’s 2 and 3 though.
It’s more than just roughing it.
You’re not camping as a kid or out in the field in the Army as you have your family with you.
I can’t imagine being without power indefinitely and running out of water.
As we are on a water well and septic systems.
I’m exponentially prepared today, but I still see the struggle in it all.
One thing though…I don’t get the people who seem to be hoping for it….is that a form of denial ?
    Anyway…good luck to all.

Ad #1: Food Shortages Can Actually Happen:
Next step: releasing the prisoners to look after themselves and send the guards home because they can’t be paid either.

Ad #6: Crime, Rioting And Looting Become Commonplace During An Economic Collapse
This will go through the roof once the prisoners are released because prisons become too expensive.

Ad #8: Suicides Spike During An Economic Collapse
    The article says:

“Evidence cited in the WHO report suggests the more debt people have, the more likely they are to have mental disorders.”

That means that every loan or mortgage offer should have banners like cigarette packets, stating: “This loan may significantly damage your health and that of your relatives.”

In the past, people thought that having debts was akin to slavery. The last decades we have been tricked into believing that it was better to “live now, and pay later” and that if you didn’t take out a loan you were a fool. Saving was for idiots.

And now it is time to pay, at least for the Greeks but probably also for the rest of us.

Luckily I had a history teacher at high school who explained to us what happened in the roaring twenties (when they invented the slogan “live now, pay later”) and what happened subsequently in the thirties. To the gary2’s among us: yes he was democratic left-wing but no he didn’t like big government.

So I have been a fool not to take out loans, and an idiot to save.

When I’m talking about the coming financial challenges, to put it mildly, people stare at me like I’m an idiot or look the other way. It is like a taboo. I have stopped talking and I refer people who I think are smart enough to this website.

“Or you could be like all of those that laughed at Noah while he was building that big boat.”

    Two remarks:
    1. I listened to a conversation two weeks ago between my father and his nephew who where discussing the past, when one of them said: “You don’t know what may be coming to us, just like in Noah’s time.”

    2. Was Noah the world’s first prepper? And if so, would he have been labeled a terrorist in current times? Personally, I thought that Joseph was the world’s first prepper but I may be wrong (7 fat years, 7 lean years).

  • Sabra

As I read posts where people refer to their imaginary friend, I wonder how close they really are to reality, which is what prepping or survival is about, people holding reality by the tail and letting it lead them to solutions to problems whose elimination gives those people a better chance of surviving society’s demise or a major catastrophe. Folks, there ain’t no pie in the sky god to help you out when times get rough. Better dump your friend that ain’t there before the fun starts, because holding onto your idiotic fantasy can do nothing but hold you back in times of stress.

I note in other parts of the world the same thing is happening, in Australia for example I read :

Hastie building contractors lay off 3,000 ( receivership )

St. Hilliers building contractors lay off ( receivership)

First fleet trucking giant loses thousands ( receivership)

Car Auto firm thousands jobs lost

many thousands of small firms have gone bust ……

Telecom laying off thousands ( 4,700 staff )

all this in the last 2 months…….!

  • Not that I wanted to hear it whatsoever, but I’m surprised to NOT hear that violent assaults (specifically on women) were up as well. I know you mentioned crime and looting but I figured this would be a big one too.

  • Zombalypse

I’m just going to share this little tidbit. Probably about 40 years ago, I was watching a PBS station on TV. I was just a child, about 10 years old. Anyway, this dude from NASA came on (back then it was still black and white). He had in his hand a ‘canoe’-like object, about 8 inches long, made of wood. It was ‘ark’ shaped, or, similar to a canoe. Specifically, it looked like a perfect cross section of a UFO.

He set the object on the table, and gave it a spin. It blurred as it spun and looked just like a UFO. As it was stopping, ever so slowly, at the last moment, it ‘wobbled’ or ‘shook’, and TURNED AROUND AND SPUN THE OTHER WAY! The shape of the object, oblong, bowed, compensated for the spin of the earth around the sun, the wobble of the craft in the water, and the ‘fore and aft’ action of the waves.

Someone with foreknowledge of the future (time travel through wormholes is theoretically possible) contacted ITNAPISHTIM (the story from the Bible was actually stolen from the ancient Babylonians) and showed him their technology with which to build his ark. (Utnapishtim?)

Well the HEAD of NASA just came out a few months ago and publicly pleaded with his employees to PREPARE for disaster.

  • Zombalypse

It is possible the the same beings with foreknowledge of the future directed the author of Revelations, as well as some of the other prophets (Samuel, Daniel, etc.)

They were usually ‘taken upon a high hill’ to receive their ‘instructions for the future’. Just saying, what’s about to happen to us, the ‘something like a mountain thrown into the sea’, the 1/3 of the water turned to ‘chernobyl’ (wormwood), the great earthquake at the mount of Olives, the Battle at Har-Megiddo, may very well be in our near-future. Can’t say we weren’t warned!

  • Zombalypse

If you know anything about ‘relativity’, when the bible says, “a day is as a thousand years”, it could mean that in the time it takes the ET’s to travel one day, a thousand years has elapsed on earth. Remember Rip Van winkle? He fell ‘asleep’ and woke up, what, 70 years later? Time travel.

    • Terry

Do you age during time travel? If you do, then it’s not “time” travel… it’s just travel.

Well this economic collapse is coming before and during the election. I will be in China when it does. I am afraid for my family that are being left to deal with the taxes, traffic and problems in Atlanta. The cost of living has gone up so high. I could not believe it when I returned from overseas. I went to CVS tonight and food , pet food, baby wipes and detergents were so high. I see why there is so much shoplifting in retail now. I’m sure the guy who stole 40K worth oif TIDE won’t be an isolated incident.
Back to the election, if OBAMA is not re elected I am afraid to return to the US. I won’t recognize my own country. I will have to stay in China until the next election.
Some one mentioned crime against women. Women have to pay twice as much as men and get paid less. There is a war against us now. We are feeling the brunt of cost. Why does a box a tampons cost 8.00?? Why can’t I get birth control through my health insurance for free?
Why does a check up cost more for a woman than a man? I could go on but I think you get it.

    • Ann

You’re one of the blind people who think Obama is their answer for everything! Obama is one of the biggest problems America is facing… You need the guidance of the Holy Spirit to know the truth of what’s going on behind closed doors. America is falling is what the Lord has shown me and many other things about Obama… Such as Obama and Iran and Israel, as well as I knew Obama would be labeled the first Gay President as Time Magizine called him because the Holy Spirit had begun showing me thing before his election of a black horse coming and begain telling me “In the days of Noah” etc etc etc. Check out the YouTube video where Obama says if he has things his way that out electric bills will triple because of his energy plan. Just like his forcing Obamacae on people who can barely afford to put food on their table… By the way have you read that bill??? Quiet scarey for the elderly folks out there as well as many of us. I worked for the federal gov and know how they operate. WAKE UP BLIND folks and STOP being led by the blind because you both will end up in a ditch by being ignorant and unaware. You will not make it in the times ahead without the Holy Spirit dwelling in you and guiding you each step of the way on what to do and which way to go etc etc etc. Obama is a very dangerous man, Stop being decieved!!!

      • Terry

God is all powerful… yet that barbaric daemon Obama got elected… go figure.

  • John Reed

Gee whiz, Mark, what do you think is going to happen to all the nuclear power plants in the U.S. when the power grid goes down? Will our grid last longer than those in France and Japan? I hope so.

  • this is extremely eye opening.. thank you for bringing the truth to your readers. We must be more prudent and pragmatic in America… immediately. it’s each person’s responsibility.

Great reminder, Ken Potter! Whenever I feel the temptation to panic, that verse brings me such comfort. I hope that it will encourage others who read here as well. God bless you!

I also do not believe there ate shortages. The elite would rather see things rot unless they get the price they want. Where do you see a clothing store or gas station closed because they have run out? Oh no the only reason gas went down is to entice people to go on credit and take a vacation.

  • What I find most disturbing is when I try to talk to others about the Greek crisis and the troubled Euro Zone, they look at me as if I’m crazy and sometimes I get this response, “Why should we worry about what’s happening way over as long as it’s not our country!” But what they don’t realize is that no country in the 21th century is an island to itself we all are inter-related to each other this includes economies. Why do you think gasoline prices are bouncing up and down like a yo-yo? Wall street does experience days when they get anxious about Europe and you see a drop in the numbers. It’s like someone said America has it’s attention on things that aren’t based in reality. It’s more important to find out about the latest winners on Dancing with the stars or American Idol than to keep track with the European financial crisis an event that trigger a far worse American economy than what we have now.I am worried so much that sometimes I don’t want to watch the world news but I know I have to watch so if global conditions worsen I can prepare my family to survive. I have never witness so many world events unfolding at one time like we see in 2012. A few years someone predicted”The perfect storm” well my friends it’s here, can’t you feel the strong winds blowing when you hear the latest news from Greece Europe and the Middle East? Let’s get prepared and let’s pray for God’s protection.

The problem is that while these articles share a wealth of information and present a eye-opening view those who are gullible and who believe the Mainstream media will continue to slander and to attack your website and the truth. To them their psychological defense mechanism which is artificially construed labels the truth and anything outside the official story as ‘conspiracy theories’. The problem is that they won’t wake up until it is too late. They are sheep heading into the slaughterhouse and are true Sheeple who have no picture or idea of how the micro and macro understanding of various aspects of the world work. What’s also saddening is how these ‘Sheeple’ constitute the vast majority of the population.

    • Michael

It truly is an “info war”, and we just have to keep standing for the truth.

One thing that some people are doing with these articles is that they are turning them into YouTube videos.

      Here is one example….

I hope more people will help spread this information in creative ways such as this.

Having faith in something, a deity, is a personal choice imo

But those that have “blind” faith I feel are mistaken. Yes most religions have stories and recollections of people being saved and miracles happening are shared and taught. But history and the world is and has been full of believers, good people, who come to bad ends through no fault of their own. One can not simply say that all who’ve suffered and died had it coming and deserved it.

So I say, believe in what gods you may but trust in cold hard steel and your own hard works and labor.

If god helps those that help themselves then I plan on being well off enough that I won’t need his help, he can move on to the next guy on the block, who has zero preparation and foresight.

If I miracle comes my way I certainly won’t kick it in the teeth…but you won’t find me cursing god for my misfortune either.

People need to help themselves and their loved ones and prepare best they can with what they have and can store for an emergency.

We’re in for quite a ride in the not too distant future imo

Best Regards & Luck to us all!

I’m am very sorry to read whats happening to Greece and I hope this blog helps to us to get prepaired for whats comming our way. I am very happy to read so many christians on here leaving commits. That means some of my christian brothers and sisters are understanding whats about to happen and how we should be helping each other. God is giving us great signs and warnings. That is the love he has for us, lets help as many people as we can. Because so many are lost and dont understand what is coming. I do know the best way to deal with all problems is to depend on our loving Father in heaving.

Guns and death penalty do not prevent crime and looting, as we have seen over and over again.
(America has guns and death penalty and still has crime and looting.)

People need to ask themselves, if guns don’t help against looting, how can I prevent looting in the first place?

What is the motivation of the looter and criminal?
What are the motivations of the non-looter and non-criminal?

How can I change one into the other?

    • Terry

The motivation of a looter is to EAT and take what they need out of desperation. You can’t prevent it…. it’s a mob mentality that results from the absence of law and order.
You best find / make a good hiding place… If I come to loot you and you are alive I will KNOW that you have food and water and that’s when you best not have all your supplies in one place…. OR you’ll be out looting tomorrow.

  • Chris

well some on this site will scoff, but I SEE the point has come when the balance has been tipped, many Christians “see” what is ahead by dream and open vision, yes its true that you don’t need to be Einstein to see what is coming !, but let me say that God did warn Joseph to lay aside for ” 7 years of plenty while there would be 7 years of the worst famine that Egypt had at that time !, so a precedent has been set if God warns then, then he will warn now
! , stands to reason also , that if a person chooses NOT to believe that God warns of serious cataclysmic events , that fine so God is God, if you choose NOT to beleive in God, then I assure you God is fine with that, however one day ALL will see him face to face ! of course gives us all a personal will and choice, it does not alter my strong belief of what I see.

All that being said, I see in both vision and dreams that the “Eagle” is dying……and having a spear driven through its body and pinning it to the ground and the Eagle cannot get up ……..

I see that the corrupt nature of the fiat money system and the politics involved around the world IS coming to an end, I very strongly believe that a milestone of civilisation has been reached and trust me, God abhors dishonest scales and measures ! is this the time of the end ? maybe , maybe not !……I cannot say, but I do prepare for myself, my wife, my family and also to help others with common sense.

for we ( world wide ) are ready to reap the whirlwind, its with sadness I say that, I do not want millions and billions to suffer the hardship that I see, for surely swathes of deaths and untold destruction comes along for a ride as well.

Only a fool or psychopath would enjoy seeing people suffer and die, however in a sense the real materialism of this world has been the real God of so many, many people have deliberately turned their back on what is right, what is proper, what is decent.

Most of the real leaders and power brokers behind the banks do have a Agenda for evil, to rule with a bloody fist, the bible even says the ” Prince of this world ” is the ruler of the air “.

So why should we be surprised at what we see ?. I have digressed of course, so to all prepare for each house hold but also be prepared to be genuine in helping others, while not being a fool and trusting all you will meet .

  • Chris

oh and I am prepared to defend myself with a firearm and to teach my children and wife to do the same, notice I said “defend” not to aggressively attack another person , a great deal of difference.

God bless all ……..and may God change America through refining as a fire…..and turn the hearts of the fathers to him…..

  • Anna44

As a woman- I look at solutions for the smaller every day problems. If the 10 things happen – here’s a short list of what you’ll need. Most of us know about food & firearms.

Get every member of your family a bicycle and the grandparents an adult tricycle with a basket. Purchase extra tire tubes & seats. Remember what it takes to be clean- (& disease free) and stock up on soap for you, dishes & your clothes. Buy a hand-cranked washing machine and some line w/cloth pins to dry them. Buy a water filter NOW. Buy a wood burning stove if you don’t have a fireplace – you’ll need something to keep your home warm in the winter. I ripped out my carpet and put flooring down instead – easier to clean. Buy extra shoe-laces, candles, nails, matches & Band-Aids. Cheap wine can be used for thirst, a sauce, barter or sanitizing a cut. Sleeping bags or hammocks are good if you find yourself outside- and don’t forget mosquito netting. Buy a solar pot to cook with- no fire needed & the smell is contained until you open it. You can buy tea leaf plants- there’s a reason England thinks so highly of it. Finally- buy several packages of peppermint hard candies. It’s a modern day olive branch.

    • Terry

Grandpaw on a bicycle conjures up images of shooting ducks at county fair. Keep old people and children OUT OF SIGHT.
You may want tha carpet if you get cold. It might keep you warm.
Water filter? If shtf water won’t come out of the faucet. Maybe get a few water beds and fill them up.

  • NotNaive

There seem to be a few religious people plainly having faith in some other entity bringing them salvation, and using all the usual woolly-worded nonsense to justify and throw quotes at others. What naivety; what a cop out for taking responsibility for not just themselves, but others too. How irresponsible and introspective, head-in-the-sand people.
I have a question – which no doubt will bring more woolly words, and precious little logical practicalities – ‘If you guys have such faith in salvation from this creator you believe in, then why on Earth are you even bothering read all about prepping (the economic collapse blog) on this site? Or perhaps your real agenda is to spread the word about religion, and try your best to impose your religion on others.
Perhaps you’ll only realise the folly of this groundless faith you have, when you’re facing death or starvation in the face, because you DIDN’T listen to normal, more practical people than you yourself obviously are. You really need to WAKE UP and face reality and HELP others, not tell them to just do nothing as someone else is going to make it alright for you.
You sound like some 3rd world, person who has nothing else to turn to (and I feel so sorry for those in the countries I speak of) backward thinking nutcase.
If a creator did exist who watches over us all, then as has often been asked – but never satisfactorily answered – why does this creator allow such widespread famine, death, war and all a manner of atrocities? This would not be the case if what you mistakenly believe in were true. I rest my case.
