15 Signs That The Economy Is Rapidly Getting Worse As We Head Into 2013

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

How can the mainstream media claim that the U.S. economy is “improving” when it is painfully obvious to anyone with a brain that the middle class is being absolutely eviscerated?  According to numbers that were just released, the number of Americans on food stamps rose by more than 600,000 in a single month to an all-time record high of 47.7 million.  Youth unemployment in the U.S. is at a post-World War II high and large companies have announced the elimination of more than 100,000 jobs since Barack Obama won the election.  Consumer debt just hit a new record high and the federal government is accumulating debt at a much faster pace than it was at this time last year.  So where is the evidence that the economy is getting better?  The mainstream media says that the decline of the unemployment rate to “7.7 percent” is evidence that things are improving, but I showed how fraudulent that number is yesterday.  The percentage of working age Americans with a job today is exactly where it was back in September 2009 in the midst of the last major economic crisis.  The mainstream media is desperate for any shred of evidence that it can use to make people feel good and show that the Obama administration has our economy on the right track, and so they jump on any number that even looks remotely promising and they ignore mountains of evidence to the contrary.  They don’t seem to care that poverty is absolutely exploding and that the number of Americans on food stamps has risen by nearly 50 percent while Obama has been in the White House.  They don’t seem to care that the U.S. share of global GDP has fallen from 31.8 percent in 2001 to 21.6 percent in 2011.  They don’t seem to care that more good paying jobs are being shipped overseas with each passing day.  They don’t seem to care that formerly great U.S. cities that were once the envy of the entire globe are now crime-infested hellholes.  All they seem to care about is putting out news that makes people feel warm and fuzzy and making sure that Obama looks good.  Unfortunately, the truth is that the U.S. economy is steadily getting worse, and 2013 is not looking very promising at all right now.  Hopefully at some point the mainstream media will take a break from coverage of the royal pregnancy and the latest celebrity scandals to report on the real problems that we are facing right now.

The following are 15 signs that the economy is rapidly getting worse as we head into 2013…

#1 According to numbers that were just released, the number of Americans on food stamps has risen to a new all-time record of 47.71 million.  That is a huge increase of more than 600,000 over the previous reading of 47.10 million.  After about a year of slow growth, it looks like the number of Americans on food stamps is starting to skyrocket once again.  Back in the 1970s, about one out of every 50 Americans was on food stamps.  Today, about one out of every 6.5 Americans is on food stamps.

#2 Youth unemployment in the United States is now at the highest level that we have seen since World War II.

#3 According to Gallup, unemployment in the United States shot up very sharply during the month of November.

#4 It looks like the unemployment numbers are likely to get even worse.  Since the election, dozens of large companies have announced major layoffs.  Overall, large companies have announced the elimination of more than 100,000 jobs since November 6th.

#5 According to the Wall Street Journal, of the 40 biggest publicly traded corporate spenders, half of them plan to reduce capital expenditures over the coming months.

#6 Small business owners all over America are declaring that Obamacare is going to force them to start replacing full-time workers with part-time workers during 2013.

#7 One recent survey discovered that 40 percent of all Americans have $500 or less in savings.

#8 A different recent survey found that 28 percent of all Americans do not have a single penny saved for emergencies.

#9 62 percent of middle class Americans say that they have had to reduce household spending over the past year.

#10 Many Americans are trying to make ends meet for their families by going into more debt.  Consumer borrowing hit another brand new record high in October.  It looks like the American people have not learned from their past mistakes and have decided to roll up consumer debt at a faster pace than ever before.

#11 Median household income in America has fallen for four consecutive years.  Overall, it has declined by over $4000 during that time span.

#12 Wall Street bankers are expecting “the worst bonus season” since 2008.  Not a lot of people are going to shed tears over this one, but this is a sign that there is trouble in the financial world.

#13 Food banks all over America are reporting that more needy families than ever before are showing up to get food.

#14 As I wrote about yesterday, the federal government has run a deficit of $292 billion dollars during the first two months of fiscal 2013.  That figure is $57 billion higher than it was during the same period last year.  Government debt continues to soar wildly out of control and at some point all of that debt is absolutely going to crush us.

#15 I have written previously about how the once great city of Detroit has become a symbol of the downfall of the U.S. economy.  Well, now the state of Michigan is laying the groundwork for a “managed bankruptcy” of Detroit.  Sadly, many other large U.S. cities will likely follow suit over the next couple of years.

We should truly mourn for what is happening to Detroit.  At one time, it was one of the most beautiful cities on earth.  But now it is on the cutting edge of America’s economic decline.  You can see some amazing before and after pictures of an abandoned Detroit school right here.  Sadly, what is happening to Detroit will soon be happening to the rest of the country.

A similar thing is happening over in Europe.  Greece is on the cutting edge of Europe’s economic decline, and people over there are becoming very desperate.  The following is an excerpt from a Financial Post article about how the Greek middle class is turning to crime as the depression in that nation gets even worse…

In the once stable neighborhood of Kordelio, the unemployed and drug users gather in the parks, scaring away mothers and children, and crimes like chain snatching are on the rise. Many long-time residents have left, moving abroad or to their families’ villages, leaving behind empty houses, said Evangelia Rombou, 58, who has lived in Kordelio for 22 years.

But it is not just Greece that is grappling with these kinds of issues.  Now even countries that had been thought to be “stable” are experiencing significant problems.  For example, a massive crime wave has broken out in France.  The crime wave in France is being blamed on “austerity”, but the government of France still spends far more than it brings in.

So how bad would things get in France if the French government actually did go to a balanced budget?

And how bad would things get in the United States if the federal government was not stealing more than 100 million dollars an hour from our children and our grandchildren?

Even in the midst of our debt-fueled prosperity we are starting to see glimpses of how desperate people will become when our country is someday forced to live within its means.  For example, the following is from a report about an incident that happened in Columbus, Ohio the other day…

Columbus Police sprayed Mace on several people in a crowd that had gathered to sign up for a list to get subsidized housing at a northwest Columbus apartment complex.

Police said the crowd started to gather Friday night for the Saturday morning event at The Heritage apartment complex on Gatewood Road near Sunbury Road in northeast Columbus.

Authorities said that its highest number, the crowd reached 2,000 people.

Our entire economy is a giant mirage.  Our prosperity has been purchased by stealing from the future.  A few people have been warning that we have completely destroyed our future in the process, but both major political parties just continue to do it and the mainstream media just continues to cheer them on.

At some point this con game will end and this economic mirage will disappear.  When that happens, millions of people all over this country are going to become very angry and very desperate.

I hope that you have a plan for what you will do when that happens.

  • It isn’t easy to plan for something like this. How do you plan for an unprecedented collapse that could last for decades? Being young is a huge advantage. People over 60 won’t last long.

The youth won’t have the skills or the resources that the older people have attained through their years.
The youth will end up selling themselves to the older people just to stay alive.

  • markthetruth

Michael you are completely right , i posted in your older articles that we are living in a illusion created by the media so that we have to read about kartrashians cat dying. also it seems like more and more celebrities and sports people are in bankruptcy , also they are getting caught driving under the influence , even as they try to make us feel good people with some wealth are killing themselves and unfortunately and others. All signs of DEPRESSION are right in front of us.

And our government can assure us that the world will not end Dec.21??? Please !!!! know they think they are GOD.

    the end

The huddled masses (sheeple) are too busy dancing that new “Gangnam Style” dance to notice what’s really going on.

Oh, by the way – “Oopa Gangnam style!” is Korean for “U.S. finance crash soon”.

  • Tj

I honestly feel sorry for all of the new college grads that will have to learn about the economy the hard way.

    • JustanOguy

I own rental properties near a University… some of the access to student loan cash these kids have for their Basket Weaving degrees is pretty amazing.

When I first started seeing it when verifying how they would be able to pay rent… I thought they were stupid racking up $50K+ in student loan debt for garbage degrees.

Not sure if it’s stupid or smart yet… Guess it will depend if anybody can collect on them when the collapse happens.

  • MeMadMax

“Our prosperity has been purchased by stealing from the future”

What future? I give us 5-10, maybe 15 years… tops… I gave us 15-25 if Romney and a repub congress came to town.

In my opinion, there is no future… unless medicare, ss, the fed, and now, obamacare, are trashed…. immediately. Then it would take literally decades to pay back the debt, and that’s even with a small military. There would be no use in having a “balanced budget”… It has to be a budget that is in the “green”… otherwise, the fed is gonna kill us with “creeping Weimar Republic”…

    • Mondobeyondo

Can you imagine the outcry from the senior citizens if there is even a hint of cancelling Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid? (Not to mention the potential lost votes?!) – and now Obamacare?!!! It’ll never happen. If we’re lucky, we may make it to 2017 or 2018 before things fall apart. If we start bombing Iran in the next year or two, you can bump that up to 2015.

      • Mondobeyondo

We can’t afford it. We can’t afford it. We can’t. WE CAN’T!!!!
The entitlement programs, fighting two wars in foreign lands, feeding our own hungry, taking care of our poor, bailing out big corporations and banks… and all the while, we just keep kicking the can down the road. “Let the grandkids pay for it”. Be warned – our grandchildren will kill us for our fiscal stupidity. That’s if there are still a country or any people left.

No, we don’t have much longer.

        • MONDO stop the nonsense…SS medicare will never go broke…. Think about it….. it can go broke paying FULL benefits……..So when it runs out of money…..everybody will get say 80% of the check and an IOU for the rest…..so the checks will never stop

          • Mondobeyondo

Oh, you think the recipients of SS, Medicare, etc. won’t request their full benefits? They paid into them. They WILL demand them.

Don’t believe it? See that crowd marching through Times Square?
“You promised us our Social Security! You promised us! You promised us!”
(okay, it doesn’t rhyme. I tried.)

By definition, Social Security is an entitlement benefit. FDR promised it way back in the 1930’s. (Why? Because the Depression left so many elderly vulnerable, starving, homeless and so forth.) So FDR came up with an alphabet soup of government programs to help them. AAA, CCC, and many others.

Did they save America? Partially, but what saved America was World War II. World War II was a WORLD war. Not an Iraqi war, or an Afghan war. Yes, that goes out to you who think that a regional war will save this country. It will not. It’s what gained our independence, but it will not be how we keep it.

And now, please allow me to kneel over the toilet and vomit.
[sound and text off… are you sure? Are you sure? Okay….audio [censored]

Obama will never be a leader, and even if he was, would still have little effect on the end game. That was the theme of my original post: It don’t matter who’s in the big seat, it will still end because the system is designed to fail(not intentionally of course).

          • JustanOguy

WWII saved the country because just about every major manufacturing center in Asia and Europe was pretty much decimated…. giving the U.S. a HUGE advantage post WWII.

Then the politicians pissed everything away and the U.S. has to play world police for whatever reason.

          • quercus454

WWII would not have saved this country economically if the same mindset we have today was happening then. WWII put Americans to work in American factories. Today even some of our most complicated weapon systems have parts that are outsourced. Also while we were carrying the load both economically and physically during WWII, we had the resources both physical and economically to do so. Also the war provided the infrastructure for the great manufacturing expansion that followed the end of WWII.

The difference between then and now is globalism. Today many companies have very little loyalty to nation states. All they see is consumers with money to spend and labor willing to work for less.

          • survive2balive

He already is a leader…not necessarily your leader or my leader but he’s more than half of this nation’s leader and they are following him. We may not agree with what they are following him to, but they are following him regardless. Scary.

          • Christopher

Come on. Please do not waste your time waiting for Obama to achieve greatness. It ain’t going to happen. This is the same guy who received a Nobel Peace prize for basically doing nothing. Every position he has ever obtained was “facilitated” by someone. Whether it be the Harvard Law Review, the US Senate, the Presidency. He has been “enabled” the entire way. He is the most narcissistic, adolescent, immature President we have ever had. It is absolutely mind-boggling to me that he was re-elected with phony economic reports (unemployment reports, GDP, etc.) and with an absolute foreign policy debacle in Libya, which once again he has accepted ZERO responsibility for. He has brought new definition to the term “teflon” President. Whether it was Benghazi (it was Hilary’s fault), the mortgage/banking meltdown (it was Bush’s fault), or the fiscal cliff debacle (it’s all John Boehner’s fault), this President accepts responsibility for NOTHING. And you are expecting greatness from him. Pleeeeeze. Grow up.

          • six

I don’t care what they call it. If I paid in my own money, it’s not an entitlement chance I get my money back. I just want my money back that I paid in.

          • Mondobeyondo

            Social Security is already broke.
Happy New Year to you too!

          • 2Gary2

simply remove the cap on income that is taxed and it is good for ever. The rich are getting a free ride with only the first 110,000 taxed on ssi.

          • JustanOguy

Crock of garbage. There is a cap on the max you can collect on Social Security when it comes time to collect and the maximum payment you can receive is $2,513.

I’d be more then happy to have everything that I contributed to SSI (and what my employers contributed) plus 5% back and not collect a monthly SS check because I could take it and make far more for a monthly retirement income.

There’s millions of people who have gotten back FAR MORE then what they paid into the Ponzi scheme so that garbage about taking even more from the top earners to solve the problem is just more socialist propaganda garbage.

Reality is that Washington D.C. has pissed the money away and are now pissing away even more and just want Mo money, Mo money and MO money.

          • Erc Seitz

You are correct. There are foreign people that are allowed into this country and receive money from Social Security. Who is selling who out?

Years ago the Vikings sailed the river Seine. The Parisians, knowledgeable of the Vikings brutal past, met them and filled their boats with Gold, Silver etc… The Vikings sailed home (the Parisians were relieved) and told everyone the events of their journey. Guess what the other Nordics did? That’s correct. They built boats and headed for Paris.

Today you can replace the Vikings with the Gov’t and tell the same story.

In the end, the Parisians had lost everything and the Vikings, as time went by, discovered that they couldn’t plunder forever and lost everything as well.

          • quercus454

            Good comment!

          • 2Gary2

too bad for the rich then. They need to pay their fair share regardless of what they may or may not get back. I would make the rich pay and give them nothing back. Cap gains also need to pay ssi/medicare tax like we do wages.

          • JustanOguy

That’s the funny thing about you guys… You want to bring up that under the Clinton years everything was great and the socialist liars say just stay the course and we’ll return to those days which the sheeple happily went along with.

What you don’t mention though is that the highest the Federal Budget was under the Clinton years was $2 Trillion.

For 2013 it’s going to be $3.8 Trillion…. and the solution is making the rich pay more? Return the tax rates to the Clinton years – You’ll still be a Trillion short.

            What a joke..

Average incomes across the U.S. are at 1998 levels…. While Average incomes in the District of Corruption have doubled since 1998.

What part do you not get?

          • 2Gary2

I would tax the rich like Ike did in the 1950’s, not at the small level Clinton did

          • Christopher

I was born in 1951 and I have a message for you. This is NO LONGER the USA of the 1950s. There are NO more Eisenhowers. We have literally spent BILLIONS on a failed educational system with no discipline, no christian values, no accountability, and no results to show for it. There is no way in the world that this fragile economy could survive a tax hike on the rich. Please do your homework. FDR in 1934 did precisely what Obama is proposing today by taxing the rich more. The results were predictable. The Depression lasted another 8 years! Wake up. Stop watching the liberal, propaganda machine called the mainstream media.

          • six

“No Christian values”. That’s the problem, everybody wants the government to regulate everything. The government should not be paying other countries financial aid, handing out financial aid at home like candy to everybody, and certainly not spending time and money telling citizens how they should live. Gay marriage, marijuana, and abortion not the government’s responsibility. Stop trying to use the government to tell Americans how you want them to live. We need to lead the world like we did before with Science and Mathematics, not idling around 50% like we are now. Teaching anything but pure science in school “trying to instill Christian values” just takes away off that path even more.

          • Syrin

Hey dumb ***. Explain to me how the rich get a free rise when the top 5% pay 55% of ALL taxes. Do you even UNDERSTAND the DEFINITION of what a “free ride is” ?!?

The bottom 47% are the ones getting a free ride, a ride better than the rest of us who work for you to sit at home and type out all your piss and hate while doing drugs, beating your pets and playing XBOX all day, douche bag

          • 2Gary2

yeah those poor folks sure got it good! Syrin–you must be a troll as no one really believes the utter foolishness you post.

On the bright side I do find your posts amusing :)

        • 2Gary2

we need to start taxing the rich hard and spreading the wealth. Then we can afford it.

          • Mark

Gary, I hope you read Micheal’s blog yesterday. I posted this a couple of days ago, but I thought you might have missed it ,so here it is again. . According to a US Senate report total welfare spending equals approximately $168 per day for every househoid in poverty, this is higher than the $137 median income per day. Spending on federal welfare benefits, if convereted into cash payments, equals enough to provide $30.60 per hour. 40 hours per week, to each household living below poverty. The median household hourly wage is $25.03. After accounting for federal taxes, the median hourly wage drops to to between $21.50 and $23.45, depending on a households deductions and filling status. State and local taxes further reduce the median households hourly earnings. By contrast, welfare benefits are not taxed.

The report identified roughly 80 overlaping federal means-tested welfare programs that together represented the single largest budget item in 2011- more than the nation spends on Social Security,Medicare, or national defense. The total amount spent on these federal welfare programs, when taken together with appoximately $280 billion in state contributions, amounted to roughly $1 trillion. Nearly 95% of these costs come from four categories of spending: medical assistance, cash assistance, food assistance, and social/ housing assistance. Under Obama’s 2013 budget proposel, means tested spending would increase an additional 30% over the next four years.

Well Gary,in our last go around to bring you a step closer to the real world, you refered to me and other conservatives with rude remarks when I brought to your attention an article from Zerohedge. This is straight from your beloved government ,yes I do understand that a republican brought this into the light of day, we could not expect the democrats to bring this out could we now. How they take our tax dollars and waste them is another story. The FACT is that we taxpayers already spend more for welfare takers than the median income taxpayer EARNS . And you think that a taxpayer that EARNS $250,000 a year should give the federal government 70% plus state and local taxes, could leave the person that EARNED that money, about $50,000 after taxes. Based on the $30.60 per hour rate, the welfare taker rakes in $63,648 per year since they do not pay taxes on their benefits. Let’s cut corporate welfare, generational welfare and plain old regular welfare and defense. With those cuts we can shrink this bloated government to a smaller size and be closer to competing with other economies in the world so that private enterprise can create jobs. Let’s cut taxes to those that EARN their income. Everyone, including welfare takers, should pay a little bit of tax at the national level. Let’s get rid of the income tax below a certain amount and instead have a national sales tax of about 10%. Let’s put in some tarriffs on some imported goods as China does to our exports and tax unearned income at around 15 to 20% above a certain level and tax corporations at around 20%. That sounds more like a tax system that might be fair. Everyone pays a little and you still get to tax the rich. You,Gary might even have a dog in the tax fight under that system and in turn might complain if the government tries to raise your taxes on you.. Just think what effect we the taxpayers might have if we all had a dog in the tax fight. We might even force a change that would make the enviroment for jobs improved. We need to do something that is more fair for all.

          • 2Gary2

Mark–For the sake of argument I will agree with your numbers. Given that everyone has a limited amount of time/energy I would think that going after corporate welfare, which is magnitudes higher than ANY welfare for the poor would be a bigger priority than any welfare for the poor. I see conservatives going after (comparatively) a much smaller issue while totally ignoring the elephant (excuse the pun)in the room.

Think of all the walmart-mcdonalds etc etc that put off their employee costs for healthcare/food stamps off on the tax payer. There are firms that specialize in getting corporate welfare for companies (tax preference from state/cities). These CEO/owners are making millions while externalizing their costs on the tax payers. Many of these corp are making record profits. When I see conservatives going after corporate welfare with the same zeal they go after welfare for the poor they will have more creditability in my eyes.

The poor pay a ton of taxes on payroll as the rich do not pay anything close with cap gains at 15%. The poor do not have to pay income tax as they are too poor.

          • Syrin

By PLENTY you mean none. What you do is collect PLENTY of welfare, unemployment and all other the gov’t goodies that you are addicted to like the crack head you are which is why you keep demanding the gov’t put a gun to your neighbor’s head, take all his stuff and give it to you. You’re so stupid you believe that your neighbor will then return to work the next day so you can do it all over again.

          • Mark

Gary, I did not say that we do not need some government. We need something akin to what our Founding Fathers had in mind. We have the roadmap called the Constitution. We just need to limit ourselves as to the scope and size of government. The pensions alone from retiring government workers will swamp us. Your concerns for companies that do not offer health care would not be a problem for the taxpayers if we stayed within the bounds of the Constitution as there is no mention of Government healthcare for the masses. I agree with you that companies should not recieve special tax treatment and no bailouts. The private market is designed to remove from the marketplace those that choose poorly. We taxpayers, who are also the consumers in the marketplace have the power to shut down a company like Wal-mart by not shopping there or by not eating a MacDonalds. I don’t eat there or buy much at Wal-mart. This is not because of their policies, but I do not care for fast food in general. If I choose to eat out instead of eating at home, I would rather have what I like to eat for a couple of dollars more, otherwise we cook from scratch at home. If MacDonalds was not liked by so many, mostly low income customers, they be gone within a few years. So please stop ranting about MacDonalds and their policies and instead convince the democrat base to stop eating there so that theyt go out of business if that is what you desire. You talk about raising taxes on the rich, if you raise taxes on the truly rich , they just will move to a lower tax country. Take what is going on in France as those with great wealth move next door to Belgium. Besides a 75% income tax, they now have a wealth tax. If you want high taxes and lots of government services, our Founding Fathers had it right by having a small Federal government and the States could choose how they would proceed and tax. If the citizens of that State like and are ok with high taxes and lots of services, they would stay living there and support the system. If the taxpayes of that State dfid not like that system , they could as the rich in France are showing move to another State. This is a great system unless you are a control freak and wish to impose your values on someone else and force them pay for your lifestyle.
The poor with families do not pay a ton of taxes. their share of the payroll tax is around 7 to 8 % of their earned income. They recieve it back from the earned income tax credit on their tax return. This tax would not be there if the democrat FDR did not force the ponzi scheme called social security on the taxpayers. It was a great cash cow for the government when it started, as the average life span was only 59 years and you didn’t start to collect until you were 65..I guess that did not work out so well, unless you were going to have a voter dependent on the checks coming each month.continue to keep a certain political party in power..
What we have done with the welfare state and the bad economy that comes with it is to teach people not to be responsible for their own welfare. Instead of giving them a fish, the poor need to learn how to fish. The poor and the middle class have a lot of power in a free market economy. They can choose to buy a companies products or choose not to buy a companies products if the company acts badly. We begin to have lots of problems occur when big government picks the winners and loosers. As Romney said to Obama in the debates, Obama has a bad habit of picking the loosers. Obama is the perfect example as to why your ideas of big government control freaks will never work. He feels he knows what is best for you and me and in the real world that choice works best if you decide for yourself. You might choose poorly, but a least it was your own choice. Man can’t grow where there is no freedom so that we can learn from our own mistakes. Some will get hurt in the process of growth and we can help carry some that cannot grow that are truly disabled. The truly disabled are few as many that are concidered such today need to strive to better themselves as best as they can. Life is not fair and everyone has different abilities. Everyone was not meant to go to college and have a desk job .I chose to be a plumber and did well friom what i learned. It was hard work, but rewarding. Gary, in your world of big government that always picks loosers and places many controls on man, most will end up as if living in a bird cage and allowing those that control the reins of power to feed us through the bars of the cage. Man needs to be able to spread his wings a little to grow. We have been placed here on this earth to grow by a loving God and our rights come from God and not some two bit guy like Obama or Bush or Harry Reed or Nancy Polosi, you know the one that said we have to pass it to see what is in it.

the report is BS–debunked today as obvious crap. see above link

          • Syrin

And oh YEAH, Obamugabe’s OWN REPORT ADMITS tax cuts work. IN EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE where taxes were LOWERED, tax REVENUE WENT UP. This is in HIS OWN REPORT. But we know. taxes for you aren’t about gov’t revenue. it’s about theft, punishment and codified hate. In other words, you don’t give a DAMN about the country, just about acting like one of Bane’s rabid followers.

oh and Mark–what about the report that the senate republicans suppressed that clearly showed tax cuts for the rich having no correlation to job growth???

          • Erc Seitz

Where’s the link to the report?

          • Syrin

Hey douche bag. Are you f***ing KIDDING ME ?!?!? I have posted links showing that to YOU specifically at least THREE TIMES !!

Tax cuts under Kennedy created 5 million jobs, under Reagan 12 million jobs and under Bush 6 million jobs. It’s practically a mathematical formula. Your greed for someone else’s property blinds you to economic reality. Your desire to steal from others clouds any chance you have to reason. Your idiocy is a level that cannot be cured short of acute lead poisoning. California raised taxes and their tax revenue DROPPED over a billion. That’s what’s going to happen at the federal level AS HISTORY KEEPS SHOWING US. You greedy piece of **** liberals collectively failed econ 101 about 100 times. Meanwhile, you LOVE your tyranny.

          • Syrin

What about history showing us tax cuts under Kennedy created 10 million jobs, 12 million jobs under Reagan and 6 million under Bush? How about the same effects happening in India, Sweden, Ireland, Iceland and every other place this has been done. it’s a mathematical formula you d u m b a s s. We can look at REAL numbers versus your conspiracy theory. You liberals LIVE in fantasy land.

Look people, GARY has NO INTEREST in creating jobs or fixing the economy. The ONLY thing he wants is the gov’t to [put a gun to YOUR head, take YOUR stuff and give it to him no matter the future consequences. He is GREEDY beyond reproach. He will not look at facts, figures or logic. he is practically the very definitionm of evil and the reason why people like Stalin, Mao and Hittlerr come to power.

you are entitled to your opinions (however ignorant) but not your own facts. The facts are that at this time the rich are taxed at the lowest level in history and there are no jobs. How can you miss the obvious facts staring you in the face. I guess shows that some doctors are as dumb as conservatives.

At least your side is not relevant anymore as my side won. sucks to be you.

Bush created jobs???really are you that dumb?? he has had the worst job creation in history.

Yep keep spouting your BS while we keep winning elections.

          • tawnhal

Time will tell….YOU are a idiot…..I really hope everyone is growing a garden and putting things up this year because it is going to get really bad….ALL of you Dems who fell for Obummers BS will starve…JUST curious has anyone on here EVER seen a poor guy create jobs or pay taxes ……sooo all they do is what? Most wont really take advantage of programs to educated themselves or learn a trade. I’m not making this up we own a small business and have offered people work they never show up they just want us to give them money instead of earning it ….SO why do we enable them? We work 15 hours a day and run a small farm,we work ourselves into the ground to have the things we need while they dont even care to try….WHY should we continue to allow so many to be carried on the backs of the hard working people without them even having to do ANYTHING…they should be made to go through drug tests, clean streets, clean parks, work in community gardens to feed themselves, work at animal shelters and if they refuse theyget NO checks etc….at least try to make a difference and learn something !!!!

          • 2Gary2

Syrin–you are as usual wrong again. Here is the proof taxing the rich does not cause them to move.

Varner and his colleagues looked closely at tax receipts in New Jersey and California
after these two states enacted new “millionaire’s taxes” in 2004 and 2005. In
California, the top tax rate rose from 9.3 to 10.3 percent. After the increase,
out-migration of high-income Californians actually fell.

A New Jersey millionaire who works on Wall Street could easily have chosen to
move into lower-tax New York State or Connecticut after New Jersey’s
millionaire’s tax went into effect. A New Jersey millionaire working in
Philadelphia could have chosen to relocate in lower-tax Pennsylvania.

But these New Jersey millionaires, in real life, opted overwhelmingly to stay put.

As much as I like the idea…Trick Down Economy has never been proven to work – ever.

          • 2Gary2

Common sense should tell you that this is a
ridiculous claim. Given that the United States has one of the weakest
social safety nets in the world, it’s pretty obvious that we’re not
spending more on each family in poverty than the median income – or more
on the poor than we spend on defense, Social Security and Medicare.

          • Mark

Gary, you need to read the way I put commas and the word or in my statement. I did not use and to combine the sentence. They are each seperate costs and are all quite large by themselves.

          • Erc Seitz

How much money can you steal from the rich in order to fund a bunch of politician’s suicidal spending?

If you were rich wouldn’t you get your money out of the reach of such politicians? You would certainly have the means to do so.

Who then foots the bill for the suicidal spending binge? I’ll give you a hint. The people that don’t have the means to hide their hard earned money from said politicians.

          • quercus454

The rich protect their assets. They have the ability to be mobile. They can put their money anywhere they want and live anyplace that suits them. Government on all levels needs to be smaller and leaner. The founders of this country never intended for the federal government to become as large or as powerful as it has.

Any family with a reduced income knows that it must curtail spending in order to survive. Why shouldn’t the government not be the same?

          • 2Gary2

to compare the government budget to a family budget is at best ignorant. They are not remotely alike. Good thing no one listened to that stupidity when we fought WW2. The utter cluelessness of conservatives is almost beyond belief.

        • Erc Seitz

Fighting 2 wars? Take a look at how many countries the US is in with their military.

What does it cost to protect Japan, Korea, Europe, the Middle East etc…? Do any of these countries pay the USA to for this service?

Maybe Obamacare will take care of all those old people that should have kicked the bucket a decade or two ago… lol

      • Jodi

I would never want to see our senior citizens loose their benefits overnight. It would be a horrible situation. You’re right, it will never happen!

      • quercus454

What many people call entitlements, are contracts. SS and Medicare are contracts. The government takes your money with the promise of paying you a benefit when you reach a certain age. People who have payed into the system their entire lives, have a lawful expectation that they will receive that benefit. Now most of us understand that there are better and more productive ways to earn a benefit then by investing your money in SS/Medicare, but the government doesn’t give you a choice. If your working a low income job, the chances of you being able to invest a portion of your income in other systems for retirement is almost impossible. You have little or no disposable income to invest.

Congress most certainly should get rid of SS and Medicare. as it now works. But the Federal government should be held accountable for the people who have already paid into the system the majority of their working lives.

The thought of raising the retirement age is absolutely appalling. I would just love to get some of those 64 year old congress critters and put them to work as a laborer in any type of construction. It is easy to talk about raising the retirement age when you spent your entire life pushing a pencil and controlling a desk. It is entirely different when you ask someone who has been working hard physical labor to continue to do so til 70.

  • Mondobeyondo

The recession is over. The depression is just beginning.

Approximately 70 percent of jobs are created by small businesses. The big businesses (Walmart, UPS, Amazon, government, etc) get all the buzz and press in the mainstream media, but it’s small businesses that drive the economy.

Obamacare is going to crush many small businesses.
They won’t be able to afford it. They’ll have no choice but to shut their doors and give their employees their final paycheck.
Expect a lot more “going out of business” sales next year.

Folks, we’ve got trouble! Right here in River City!
With a capital T, and that doesn’t rhyme with W, and that stands for We’re Screwed.

    • Hambone

We may also see businesses going underground to avoid big brother oversight. I can’t blame them. Heck, I’d start looking for them.

    • 2Gary2

small business also looses the largest % of the jobs. You need to be balanced.

    • Mark

Don’t worry Mondo, the amount of jobs might double next year as those with full time jobs turn into part-time jobs and the employers make up the difference with a second shift of part time workers. Welcome to the new Obamacare economy, a world of part time jobs. Workers will just need to have two or more part-time jobs without benefits.

      • JustanOguy

Lots of laughing… that’s already going on. The high paying jobs are already gone and the jobs created under Obummer have been low paying jobs.

Unless of course… you are in something Govt. related.

    • Erc Seitz

We are in year 4 of the depression. Take away the SNAP program and you would have a good visual of the soup lines from the 30’s.

Take away the trillion plus phony money that the gov’t is borrowing or printing and you would see a 7% contraction year after year for the last 4 years. This is not sustainable.

The question we need to ask ourselves is: Do we fix things now and have some feel the pain or do we continue down this road till everyone feels the pain and we have wrath and anarchy? This is not hyperbole it is the situation this country has made for itself.

I have heard that in the near future the Fed will be buying 90% of newly issued US treasures.

    • Erc Seitz

You’ve heard? In 2012 the Federal Reserve printed money and bought 60% of the debt issued by the USA. That means that all of our dollars have lost purchasing power this past year. As this charade plays out that will % grow to 100% as investors realize their loans won’t be repaid.

This isn’t an economy this is a charade. When the music finally stops playing the poor and dependent will be hurt the most and probably say “Why didn’t anyone see this coming?”

    • Mondobeyondo

That’s because our foreign creditors aren’t buying them anymore. (They’re smart, those foreigners). So the Fed has to buy them, to keep the U.S. economy afloat, the Dow Jones soaring, and to avoid a total economic collapse. Yep, it really is that bad.

  • I live in Columbus Ohio and I saw that newsclip for the people who were signing up for subsidized housing. I observed that the majority of the people in the clip appeared to be Somalians. I hope they were legal immigrants because I don’t think I want to subsidize illegal immigrants with my tax dollars. I prefer legal immigrants paying taxes for their own housing.

  • JustanOguy

The lamestream media is not going to tell the truth because the people who pay their bills don’t make money off of people who know the reality of the situation.

We all know what happens to an individual when they lose their job and borrow to maintain their life style. Bankruptcy, which means not paying back the money you borrowed to pay for the goods you consumed.

    Is it moral?
    Is it sustainable?
What is the alternative to borrowing to keep up the lifestyle?

  • When is it going to happen?

  • Jodi

Yeah, when I turn on the news it isn’t news, it’s like watching Entertainment Tonight! That is why people are still living in a fog. Most of my family members have faith in the system and I have completely given up on telling them the truth. All I can do now is prepare my family for what is coming & surround myself with like minded people.

  • “Therefore, thus says The Lord: Again I tell you, I HAVE SEEN IT! And as I live, says The Lord, so also do I declare it through the pen of My prophets; lo, I have sworn it in the heat of My wrath, and will also do it… Behold! I have purposed destruction upon all your abominable temples! I have declared calamity for all your grand houses, until all these riches are consumed! Every building which stands so high and lofty, every whitewashed wall which conceals abomination, every upright pillar, every established column, all must come down! All must be broken in pieces!… Until only dust and ashes remain, until the foot of the high man can find no level ground upon which to stand and rest, until the hand of the proud finds no place to lean upon in his weariness. For only then will they be separate, only then will they come out from among them, says The Lord.

For I alone am The Kingdom, The Power and The Glory, forever and ever. Amen. Therefore, let My name resound!… Let it go forth to break off the branches and level the forests! Let it stir up the hurricane and devastate the coastlands! Let it bring forth the whirlwind against those far inland! Let the lightning strike down every wall and set every city on fire, in the name of The Lord! Behold, the ground beneath your feet is unsteady, O mighty nations! Feel it tremble at the presence of The Lord, and watch in astonishment how it shrinks back at The Lord’s rebuke! For I shall thrust the rocks upward and pull apart the mountains!… Blood and fire and pillars of smoke!”

Hear the WORD of the LORD spoken to THIS modern generation!…

Letters from God and His Christ, given to a modern man for modern man’s sake!

can the mainstream media claim that the U.S. economy is “improving”
when it is painfully obvious to anyone with a brain that the middle
    class is being absolutely eviscerated?

Well, for one thing, the mainstream media is all owned by the same folks. The same people own the newspapers and the radio stations. (Think: people like Rupert Murdoch, but not quite so much). Also the stock market, the bellwether of the “economy,” is run by the same people who run the media. They toss some money into the stock market to show it’s all good and then report it in the news.

  • Still hope that this term will be a great time to progress and be back to where we are supposed to be heading and I think with a little help from the community we can make it through.

It will be alright, I saw the President on TV and he wished me a ‘Merry Christmas’. He had a big smile on his face and didn’t seem to have a care in the world. The U.S. Government is a murdering, lying, thieving, genocidal, psychotic-psychopathic political institution. It always has been. What else can you can expect from them? You take care of your own family. Anyone who believes in patriotism is living in serious delusion …. 9/11 was an inside job.

Is seems to me that folks here are more optimistic than I. Rep or Dem it does not matter they have no choice, but to continue the Ponzi process. We have passed the point of no return, so its just a matter of time before the whole process resets. The best we can do now is to individually prepare as best we can for the inevitable. Good Luck because we are all going to need it.

  • The Unheard

Being called a racist is the experience of being punished by one’s relatives for attempting to help them. You don’t want my help now, but wait until “we” (yep, believe it or not the world does not consist entirely of you) are 5% of the world population without a home to call our own, and the Brahmin, Jews, Han, etc, are all tag teaming to exploit us in miserable slavery. Then you will wish you had been slightly more racist.

Basically the only reason we aren’t in that situation right now is that there are simply so many of us, and we have cool technology. Well I, for one, will not be reproducing (much to the amusement of my rivals and the vindication of my relatives). And giving away our tech seems to be a rad fad. So good luck losers.

I wise there would be a major movement against the main stream media. It makes me sick because they are feeding us lies. I know that the economy is not getting better because I sell things on ebay, and the past five months, nothing is selling. FOX is the only station that will even allow economists to tell the truth. MSM knows this, and they retaliate by spreading crap that FOX is lying. My dying business is not lying..
