Today, millions of Americans say that they believe that the United States is on the verge of a major economic collapse and will soon be entering another Great Depression. But only a small percentage of those same people are prepared for that to happen. The sad truth is that the vast majority of Americans would last little more than a month on what they have stored up in their homes. Most of us are so used to running out to the supermarket or to Wal-Mart for whatever we need that we never even stop to consider what would happen if suddenly we were not able to do that. Already the U.S. economy is starting to stumble about like a drunken frat boy. All it would take for the entire U.S. to resemble New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina would be for a major war, a terror attack, a deadly pandemic or a massive natural disaster to strike at just the right time and push the teetering U.S. economy over the edge. So just how would you survive if you suddenly could not rely on the huge international corporate giants to feed, clothe and supply you and your family? Do you have a plan?
Unless you already live in a cave or you are a complete and total mindless follower of the establishment media, you should be able to see very clearly that our society is more vulnerable now than it ever has been. This year there have been an unprecedented number of large earthquakes around the world and volcanoes all over the globe are awakening. You can just take a look at what has happened in Haiti and in Iceland to see how devastating a natural disaster can be. Not only that, but we have a world that is full of lunatics in positions of power, and if one of them decides to set off a nuclear, chemical or biological weapon in a major city it could paralyze an entire region. War could erupt in the Middle East at literally any moment, and if it does the price of oil will double or triple (at least) and there is the possibility that much of the entire world could be drawn into the conflict. Scientists tell us that a massive high-altitude EMP (electromagnetic pulse) blast could send large portions of the United States back to the stone age in an instant. In addition, there is the constant threat that the outbreak of a major viral pandemic (such as what happened with the 1918 Spanish Flu) could kill tens of millions of people around the globe and paralyze the economies of the world.
But even without all of that, the truth is that the U.S. economy is going to collapse. So just think of what will happen if one (or more) of those things does happen on top of all the economic problems that we are having.
Are you prepared?
The following is a list of 20 things you and your family will need to survive when the economy totally collapses and the next Great Depression begins....
#1) Storable Food
Food is going to instantly become one of the most valuable commodities in existence in the event of an economic collapse. If you do not have food you are not going to survive. Most American families could not last much longer than a month on what they have in their house right now. So what about you? If disaster struck right now, how long could you survive on what you have? The truth is that we all need to start storing up food. If you and your family run out of food, you will suddenly find yourselves competing with the hordes of hungry people who are looting the stores and roaming the streets looking for something to eat.
Of course you can grow your own food, but that is going to take time. So you need to have enough food stored up until the food that you plant has time to grow. But if you have not stored up any seeds you might as well forget it. When the economy totally collapses, the remaining seeds will disappear very quickly. So if you think that you are going to need seeds, now is the time to get them.
#2) Clean Water
Most people can survive for a number of weeks without food, but without water you will die in just a few days. So where would you get water if the water suddenly stopped flowing out of your taps? Do you have a plan? Is there an abundant supply of clean water near your home? Would you be able to boil water if you need to?
Besides storing water and figuring out how you are going to gather water if society breaks down, another thing to consider is water purification tablets. The water you are able to gather during a time of crisis may not be suitable for drinking. So you may find that water purification tablets come in very, very handy.
#3) Shelter
You can't sleep on the streets, can you? Well, some people will be able to get by living on the streets, but the vast majority of us will need some form of shelter to survive for long. So what would you do if you and your family lost your home or suddenly were forced from your home? Where would you go?
The best thing to do is to come up with several plans. Do you have relatives that you can bunk with in case of emergency? Do you own a tent and sleeping bags if you had to rough it? If one day everything hits the fan and you and your family have to "bug out" somewhere, where would that be? You need to have a plan.
#4) Warm Clothing
If you plan to survive for long in a nightmare economic situation, you are probably going to need some warm, functional clothing. If you live in a cold climate, this is going to mean storing up plenty of blankets and cold weather clothes. If you live in an area where it rains a lot, you will need to be sure to store up some rain gear. If you think you may have to survive outdoors in an emergency situation, make sure that you and your family have something warm to put on your heads. Someday after the economy has collapsed and people are scrambling to survive, a lot of folks are going to end up freezing to death. In fact, in the coldest areas it is actually possible to freeze to death in your own home. Don't let that happen to you.
#5) An Axe
Staying along the theme of staying warm, you may want to consider investing in a good axe. In the event of a major emergency, gathering firewood will be a priority. Without a good tool to cut the wood with that will be much more difficult.
#6) Lighters Or Matches
You will also want something to start a fire with. If you can start a fire, you can cook food, you can boil water and you can stay warm. So in a true emergency situation, how do you plan to start a fire? By rubbing sticks together? Now is the time to put away a supply of lighters or matches so that you will be prepared when you really need them.
In addition, you may want to consider storing up a good supply of candles. Candles come in quite handy whenever the electricity goes out, and in the event of a long-term economic nightmare we will all see why our forefathers relied on candles so much.
#7) Hiking Boots Or Comfortable Shoes
When you ask most people to list things necessary for survival, this is not the first or the second thing that comes to mind. But having hiking boots or very comfortable and functional shoes will be absolutely critical. You may very well find yourself in a situation where you and your family must walk everywhere you want to go. So how far do you think you will get in high heels? You will want footwear that you would feel comfortable walking in for hours if necessary. You will also want footwear that will last a long time, because when the economy truly collapses you may not be able to run out to the shoe store and get what you need at that point.
#8) A Flashlight And/Or Lantern
When the power goes off in your home, what is the first thing that you grab? Just think about it. A flashlight or a lantern of course. In a major emergency, a flashlight or a lantern is going to be a necessity - especially if you need to go anywhere at night.
Solar powered or "crank style" flashlights or lanterns will probably be best during a long-term emergency. If you have battery-powered units you will want to begin storing up lots and lots of batteries.
#9) A Radio
If a major crisis does hit the United States, what will you and your family want? Among other things, you will all want to know what in the world is going on. A radio can be an invaluable tool for keeping up with the news.
Once again, solar powered or "crank style" radios will probably work best for the long term. A battery-powered until would work as well - but only for as long as your batteries are able to last.
#10) Communication Equipment
When things really hit the fan you are going to want to communicate with your family and friends. You will also want to be able to contact an ambulance or law enforcement if necessary. Having an emergency cell phone is great, but it may or may not work during a time of crisis. The Internet also may or may not be available. Be sure to have a plan (whether it be high-tech or low-tech) for staying in communication with others during a major emergency.
#11) A Swiss Army Knife
If you have ever owned a Swiss Army knife you probably already know how incredibly handy they can be. It can be a very valuable and versatile tool. In a true survival situation, a Swiss Army knife can literally do dozens of different things for you. Make sure that you have at least one stored up for emergencies.
#12) Personal Hygiene Items
While these may not be absolute "essentials", the truth is that life will get very unpleasant very quickly without them. For example, what would you do without toilet paper? Just think about it. Imagine that you just finished your last roll of toilet paper and now you can't get any more. What would you do?
The truth is that soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper and other hygiene products are things that we completely take for granted in society today. So what would happen if we could not go out and buy them any longer?
#13) A First Aid Kit And Other Medical Supplies
One a more serious note, you may not be able to access a hospital or a doctor during a major crisis. In your survival supplies, be absolutely certain that you have a good first aid kit and any other medical supplies that you think you may need.
#14) Extra Gasoline
There may come a day when gasoline is rationed or is simply not available at all. If that happens, how will you get around? Be certain to have some extra gasoline stored away just in case you find yourself really needing to get somewhere someday.
#15) A Sewing Kit
If you were not able to run out and buy new clothes for you and your family, what would you do? Well, you would want to repair the clothes that you have and make them last as long as possible. Without a good sewing kit that will be very difficult to do.
#16) Self-Defense Equipment
Whether it is pepper spray to fend off wild animals or something more "robust" to fend off wild humans, millions of Americans will one day be thankful that they have something to defend themselves with.
#17) A Compass
In the event of a major emergency, you and your family may find yourselves having to be on the move. If you are in a wilderness area, it will be very hard to tell what direction you are heading without a compass. It is always a good idea to have at least one compass stored up.
#18) A Hiking Backpack
If you and your family suddenly have to "bug out", what will you carry all of your survival supplies in? Having a good hiking backpack or "survival bag" for everyone in your family is extremely important. If something happened in the city where you live and you suddenly had to "go", what would you put your most important stuff in? How would you carry it all if you had to travel by foot? These are very important things to think about.
#19) A Community
During a long-term crisis, it is those who are willing to work together that will have the best chance of making it. Whether it is your family, your friends, a church or a local group of people that you know, make sure that you have some people that you can rely on and work together with in the event that everything hits the fan. Loners are going to have a really hard time of surviving for long.
#20) A Backup Plan
Lastly, it is always, always, always important to have a backup plan for everything.
If someone comes in and steals all the food that you have stored up, what are you going to do?
If travel is restricted and your can't get to your "bug out" location immediately do you have a Plan B?
If you have built your house into an impregnable survival fortress but circumstances force you to leave do you have an alternate plan?
The truth is that crisis situations rarely unfold just as we envision. It is important to be flexible and to be ready with backup plans when disaster strikes.
You don't want to end up like the folks in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. You don't want to have to rely on the government to take care of you if something really bad happens.
Right now the U.S. strategic grain reserve contains only enough wheat to make half a loaf of bread for each of the approximately 300 million people in the United States.
How long do you think that is going to last?
Now is the time to get ready.
Now is the time to prepare.
The United States economy is going to collapse and incredibly hard times are coming.

I would truly like everyone to be able to come back to me and say I was crazy, but my fear is that im accurate when I say that I believe martial law is eminent within the next 7 months. A couple of useful items: Clorox. Very cheap. Can purify water and also handy for sterilizing anything. Saving a pile of old newspapers is another good cheap item — useful for starting a fire and, hey— better than nothing, using as toilet paper. More expensive — a couple of handfuls of silver coins in case no one wants US paper dollars.
I do not refute that a major collapse could happen. I have met three people from collapsed countries, and they did not think it would happen to them. One was a retired college professor and his wife was a nurse. They were reduced to using a bicycle for transportation.
But pessimism is our worst enemy. It can become a self-fulfilling philosophy. We need more realism, but not more pessimism. I have always been conservative with money, energy, and pretty much everything else. If that doesn’t carry me through, well, screw it. I am not going to buy a gun, dig a hole in Montana, and stock it with guns and food.
Barb is probably correct, but none of us can be sure. The absence of proof of god is not a guarantee that there isn’t one, but believing in something based entirely on faith seems the weaker of the two basis for decision. I have faith that god is concept invented by powerful men to control the masses. The bible is one tool in the arsenal, revised, edited and refined over the ages to affect this end. I suggest human beings stop waiting for biblical prophesies to come to pass. That said, economic crisis, terrorism, electric grid collapse, war, climate change, water contamination or shortage, crop failure, supply chain disruption and pandemic are all possibilities to take practical and reasonable precautions against. I think we can be fairly confident that these things don’t happen because of something someone wrote 2000 years ago. They happen because the universe is a random and infinite place where anything that can happen, will…eventually. Anyway, we are all here for a very short time so try to enjoy it. Don’t sit in your bunker polishing your gold and oiling your weapons waiting for the Rapture. Take some of your precious and short time to do some good. If you are right about god, you must realise that’s what “he” would want. Anyway, we all become dust eventually. The human race as a whole is destined for this fate when the sun burns out (unless we seed ourselves on a younger solar system). Be good.

When disaster strikes, normal, “good” people can turn nasty … especially if their children are going hungry. Most people have only 3 days of food in their homes … so we are only 9 meals away from anarchy anyway. If you live on subburbs or cites, your preparations to stay put may simply be that you are storing up things for others to take. Find a friend or family member who lives in the country .. contribute to the “group” stocking of food and equipment.
Notes:
A swiss army knife is genneraly useless … get several diferent multi-tools … a big locking folding knife with large serations.
Clorox and other bleach has a shelf life of only 6 months … get Calcium Hypochloriate or commonly called pool shock … lasts forever … make sure there are no other “active” substances such as algicides.
An axe yes, but also hatchet and sieria saw.
BEST sruvival tool is your brain … get knoweldgable and PRACTICE skills you will need.

I have to disagree about storing gasoline. Way too dangerous and it doesn’t store well. Please do NOT do this. Get a diesel car and store diesel fuel. Treat it with PRI-D. I stored 4 x 55 gal drums worth (from fruit juice, the drums, not the diesel) for about 5 years and it was fine. You have to rotate your stock and do NOT pump from the bottom because moisture will condense in the drum and drop to the bottom, a real killer to your engine. They also now sell 5 gal container specifically for diesel. Good luck to all.

I’ve read your concerns and warnings, and have at the very least looked over similar “Doomsday” rants at least since Hal Lindsay’s heyday back in the 1970s.
People should be concerned about their well-being in these days, however the fear, guilt and blame mongering perpetuated by you and others isn’t helping matters one jot or tittle. Nor is it helping anyone when so-called spiritual leaders insist that human kind cannot save itself from its self-created monsters.
It is a slap in the face to the divine to state God alone can save us from ourselves when we, as a species, have been given every capability we need to set our own affairs to rights and save ourselves. And quite frankly, if we fail it is our own fault, not the “Judgement of the Almighty”.
The Almighty, whatever that is, has producted a fantastic cosmos governed by fields of influence we call ‘natural laws’. These laws are, more or less,
absolute, definable, predictable and can be used by curious creatures such as humans to perform the miraculous.
Ignorance, fear, short sightedness, greed and arrogance can and do influence the rational mind, allowing us, in our voluntary subjugation to base impulse, to fashion nightmares for ourselves and others. God isn’t judging humanity. Humanity is judging God, and I find that far more reprehensible than all but a handful of the so-called ‘sins’ mentioned in the Judeo-Christian bible, Quran, or just about any other so-called holy book.

Cease using your narrow-minded and egotistical assumptions to spread fear in times of duress and set yourself on a course to actually assist your fellow humans. There is a simple probability I like to consider as regards the “Holier than thou Doomsayers”: They seem to need others more than others need them…just like the -god- they profess to worship.
That alone is enough to tell me the nature of such a -god-.
God doesn’t need you or others like you to tell us what God wants. God is more than capable of speaking such things to each of us….directly…without your assistance or (more accurately) interference.
For my part, God speaks to me through all of creation. And all of creation sings the praises of a God that is far more concerned with the most minute of details governing the properties of matter and energy than s/he/it seems to be concerned about the minutae of the human condition. WE are the ones who need to pay special concern to that! Not God!
Most people have no idea what they’re talking about, when it comes to God and Man. America is NOT in the Bible. This is pure “newspaper exegesis”. You cannot use events to prove the Bible, rather, when the things prophesied in the Bible happen, they will occur EXACTLY as they were prophesied, to the last detail.
If you want to know what the Bible says about the Last Days, ask a Jew. After all, the entire Bible was written by Jews. Romans 3:1,2 states that all revelation was to the Jews and not to the Gentiles. That’s right, Dr. Luke was a Jew. So have a little humility, you foolish Gentiles and learn something: You must be spirit baptized (born again) to understand God and to love Him.
The 12 Apostles, themselves Jews, asked of Yeshua (Jesus), Himself a Jew, a few questions about the end times. “What will be the sign of Your coming and of the end of the world?” in Matthew 24. His reply is a Jewish idiom for world war, ‘when nation rises against nation and kingdom against kingdom’. So, WWI & II was the beginning of sorrows, the beginning of the end of this age.
In Thessalonians, Paul (a Jew) tells the Church that that Day- meaning, the Tribulation Period- will not come, except there come a falling away first. What have we seen for the last 100 years, but a falling away from the faith with every kind of heresy, from Communism & Socialism to Branch Davidians?
Johannan (John, yet another Jewish Apostle) tells us in Revelation that, “the time is at hand”, which means that when it starts, the Tribulation will be fast and furious.
And Daniel lets us onto the fact that this Tribulation is the missing “seven” of the 49 sevens in his prophecy. It will be seven years of the wrath of God upon Mankind.
But where are we? We are in the last great Gentile Kingdom on earth. “The Beast” is a kingdom that changes from its United Stage, strong as iron (63-285 BC) in the Roman Empire, to its Two-Division Stage, or east-west balance of power (364-Present), to its One World Gov’t Stage– toes of iron & miry clay– to its Ten Kingdom stage, ten horns (Kings)– three are uprooted leaving seven who will submit to the eighth horn– and finally, the AntiChrist Stage of Absolute Imperialism– the Little Horn who is the eleventh horn (in relation to the ten) and becomes the Eighth Horn to be destroyed by God ending Gentile domination of Israel. Right now we await the One World Government. So what will have to happen to bring this about? The balance of power will have to be upset. America will have to be destroyed from within, right? Remember, America is not in Bible prophesy. But Russia is. In Ezekiel 38 and 39, Russia is destroyed when they invade Israel from the north with a massive allied invasion of Iran, Turkey, Armenia, Germany and Somalia, and they are subsequently destroyed by God with rain, fire and brimstone from Heaven. Before you mock, consider that God’s destruction of Sodom and Gommorah with brimstone still can be seen in the archaeological record in balls of sulfur found embedded in early walls and earth. God will also rain fire on Russia itself, and totally destroy her for her anti-Semitism.
The re-establishment of Israel, along with actual earthquakes & famines of the last 100 years, are all birthpangs which increase in frequency up to the end. There will even be the first of five blackouts of the sun before that Day comes. “The end” is not the end of it all, but God brings in the Kingdom of His dear Son as rightful King.

Here’s a thought to all those on here who are dismissing this as “alarmist thinking” and that this shouldn’t be taken seriously or even joked about…if the people in New Orleans had used these tips before Katrina hit, there would have been NO need for panic, because they would have been PREPARED for the worst. That is all this is. Being prepared. Why is that such a big joke?? Our materialistic, government guaranteed lives have made us lazy and unable to effectively care for ourselves if the need ever arose. It doesn’t take more than a major Category 4-5 hurricane, flood or major tornado to turn a normally active, 21st century town into a Stone Age camp. Don’t act like this a joke, take this seriously and maybe if the day ever comes that you are in that impossible position, you and your family will be ready.
People that want the world to repent or suggest praying will solve the problem are missing the boat. God expects us to protect his most precious asset, which is our life and that of our family. Learning how to build a plan, thinking it though, and amassing the things needed for survival is our earthly responsibility. Going down as a martyr for the sake of having it on one’s tombstone will mean nothing unless there are people who belive in God to carry the message on. So get started and be ready. It takes time, and while some think tomorrow, in reality the decay will be a lot slower, possibly decades. Then when something major does happen, most of us will have forgotten the plan and let the amassed gear decay as well. So stay awake! That’s my 2 cents worth.

You folks are all a bit out there. Even tho I have everything on the list, this isn’t going to happen. This is fear mongering. It didn’t hapen after Kartina, it didn’t happen in Haiti, nor Iceland. It didn’t happen after the Sunami’s in the Indian Ocean. Relax. If you want to prepare that is good. You are better off really learning tho. Become an EMT and keep you skills sharp by volunteering in your Community. Get a HAM license and join the county reaponse unit. Become a volunteer fire fighter. This is time better spent then sitting in Church wringing your hands about an event that has been ‘forseen’ for thousands of years, yet has yet to come true. Relax and help your fellow man (and woman of course). That is what the ‘god’ really wants from us anyway.

There is plenty of occurrences around the world and here in the US that give me cause for concern. I have little to no faith in our Government’s ability to steer us clear of economic ruin. In fact they seem of late to do their best to do the opposite imo
So if I had to bet…I would bet that one day in my lifetime there will come a time where there is NO electricity or running water or gas to be had in my home or community, for an extended period of time.
When and IF that happens…what would I do?

I think people will always have their own personal “belief system” or even “non-belief sys.) but the bottom line is that as a person with possibly a family of loved ones we care about.
We owe it to ourselves and them to be as prepared as possible…to survive “another” way than what we’re use to.
It doesn’t matter what you believe or what church you belong to…you’re still going to get thirsty fast!

When the world ends because God’s appointed guys at the Federal Reserve decide to collapse the dollar and bring in the Amero and North American Union (as planned from back in 2006), I hope they let loose the zombie viruses from Fort Detrick at the same time, because I am SOOOOO ready!
I think the biggest threat, especially in the inner cities and ‘burbs will be the marauders that will try to take what they need/want. Just be prepared to defend yourself!

Your Ark and the Coming Flood
For years now many of you have been ark-building and you didn’t even know it. What you thought was a horrible way that God had forced you to live – i.e. giving up your jobs, your homes, your precious possessions – was actually a building process. You were building your arks of faith and trust in the Lord while most, if not all, of your friends, family and other Christians didn’t understand, laughed at you, thought you were crazy and told you that you were not hearing from the Lord. They judged you, condemned you and ridiculed you, just as they did to Noah when he was building his boat.
The process has not been easy. Instead, it has been very, very painful and very, very lonely. It has cost many of you, including myself, literally everything. Your lives, and mine, have been turned upside down. Everything that used to be normal is now abnormal. Everything that used to be abnormal is now normal. You, and I, long for some semblance of normality in our lives again because what we have had to go through has been absolutely horrendous – terribly, terribly painful. It has been the worst nightmare that we could have ever dreamed.
But we have been building our arks of faith all this time. The Lord has taught us to trust Him in every way, for everything. But trusting Him to provide for us has been many times met with bitter disappointment after bitter disappointment after bitter disappointment. Many time we wanted to give up, but God would not let us. But we are still alive and our faith is now much stronger than it ever was before. Our arks of faith are just about finished and God is getting ready to tell us to enter our arks.
These arks of faith are what we will enter when His judgment is poured out upon this nation, very, very soon. We have learned how to listen to Him, how to hear Him and how to obey Him. When He says to pack up and move, we will pack up and move, not always knowing where we will be moving to. When He says to go here, we will go here. When He says to go there, we will go there. We will be like Abraham, moving from place to place, from refuge to refuge. Some He will settle down in one place, others He will keep moving from place to place. But we will continually be in our arks of faith. We will move upon the floodwaters of evil and catastrophic judgment that will be unleashed upon this nation, but we will be at peace and we will experience God’s supernatural protection and provision.
Wherever He tells us to go, they will be places where we will minister to others who have not been prepared as we have. The fearful we will lead to peace. The wounded and hurting we will comfort and heal. The trembling hearts we will still. The blind (to what is happening, and why) we will help see the truth. The captives (to the lies and false doctrines of today’s churches) we will set free.
Others God has been instructing to build physical arks, places of refuge and safety. These will be places where you can be self-sufficient during the traumatic times that are coming. Places that you and your families, as well as others can survive during the coming years. It is now time to begin loading these arks with provisions – food, clothing, blankets, water purification tablets, candles, propane stoves, medical supplies, toiletries, etc., whatever the Lord puts upon your heart to store. THAT IS THE KEY for all of you, whatever THE LORD tells you personally to do. If you don’t know how to plant a garden and grow vegetables and fruits, now is the time to learn – it is also the time to begin storing up seeds for planting during those times. If you can now plant fruit trees in these places of refuge, I urge you to do so.
The reason I say that it is now time to begin loading your arks is because when hyperinflation hits this country (and I suspect that it will happen in the latter part of next year), the prices of everything will skyrocket. It will cost much less if you can begin to purchase the items you will need beginning now, little by little. But before you do anything, PRAY, PRAY and PRAY some more. Make sure that it is the Lord who is telling you, individually to do this. Do not do it simply because I think it’s time, do it because you have prayed about it and received the Lord’s direction on it.
Do not expect to spend just a few weeks or months in these places of refuge. Expect to spend several years in them. What is coming upon this nation will not be over with quickly, it will be several years before the danger has passed. You must be strong, patient and have great endurance. Only prayer and fasting will give you the strength needed. Please understand this – we are not talking about a short time in these “arks”, we are talking about several years. This is a strong warning not to take this lightly, but to prepare for a long seige. Life in this country will NEVER BE THE SAME AGAIN.
There are others, like myself, whom the Lord has not had make any physical plans for the future. Our preparations have all been spiritual, knowing that we will have to trust Him to lead and guide us when the time comes. To each as the Lord leads him or her. What we ALL need to do now is to load ourselves up with PRAYER. That is the best preparation we can have.
When will you enter your arks? For many it will be when Mt. Rushmore collapses – this will be the sign of immediate judgment coming. I believe the solar storms will happen immediately after Mt. Rushmore falls. Life for many will become exceedingly difficult then. For many others the Lord will have wait until a later time to enter their arks. How will you know? By prayer, prayer, prayer and more prayer. You must begin to fill your arks with much prayer between now and then, so you will know when it is God’s time for you personally to enter your ark. DO NOT LOOK TO MAN TO TELL YOU WHEN IT IS TIME.If you do, you will be badly misled. You must develop a very, very close and personal relationship with the Lord now so that you will be able to hear clearly from Him – you do this through prayer, fasting and reading the Bible.
What it is definitely NOT TIME TO DO is become fearful and frantic. That is not of the Lord, it is of the evil one. Many of you spend hours each day going from one Christian website to another, one religious forum to another, looking for man to tell you what to do, looking for something to be excited about. Many of you do the same thing looking to find something to panic about. What has happened is that you have been misled by supposed “prophets” who have caused you to be fearful every day. You listened to all the lies about the swine flu and how there would be computer chips in each flu shot which would allow the government to track and control you. Or the lies about the irremovable stainless steel bracelets you would be forced to wear once you got the flu shot, giving the government the ability to track you and control your mind. Or the lies about the FEMA camps that you would be sent to if you refused the shots. Or the lies about how when Obama declared a state of emergency regarding the flu shots (it was done to protect the clinics from medical malpractice lawsuits, so that they could quickly give the shots to anyone without needing to follow the normal governmental guidelines in this matter) that this was the beginning of you losing your freedom and the first step to Obama declaring martial law. Or the lies about how the borders would be closed and martial law being declared. You listened to the lies about how Washington, D.C. would be destroyed by a nuclear bomb on Nov. 10 (Vincent Xavier’s first “prophecy” about this was that it would happen in October, but not be realized until November. That should have immediately shown you that he was a fraud because it made no sense whatsoever). Or the lies about the banking holiday that would happen this year, and how you wouldn’t be able to get your money out of them. Or the many other lies out there on the internet.
Little children, it is time to quit spending all your time on the internet looking for things to get excited or fearful about, and spend that time in prayer so the Lord can tell you what is coming. You would rather spend your time on the internet listening to what man has to say, because that is more exciting than spending time with the Lord in prayer. If you want to know what is about to happen, then seek the Lord while He may be found. You need wisdom and discernment, because few of you have any. Wisdom and discernment are given by the Holy Spirit after many, many, many hours spent in prayer and reading the Bible. You pay a price for them. That price is giving up the desires of the flesh and seeking the things of the Spirit. Few of you are willing to pay that price.
God is giving us warnings of what is to come in the next few years, and He is giving us plenty of time to prepare for it. The first step in that preparation is much prayer. If you do not resolve to begin spending your time in prayer, you will be in great turmoil in the very near future.

I just typed out a slew of great info on survival,as Ive been training over 20 years,but it came up as an error when I tried to post and Im not typing all that Again,But I will tell you that a swiss army knife wont cut it,you need a good beefy knife like a K-Bar fighting knife something you can use to pound,dig,chop,and even kill with if nessesary,a SOG is another good choice,remember you get what you pay for.Also read and study up time I believe is short a good manual is Emergency Preparedness and Survival Guide from Backwoods Home magazine is a very good book to have along with all tha military survival manuals you can get your hands on,arm up with a Good rifle a good sidearm and plenty of ammo,enough food for a year and good luck.Praying Helps moreso than most would believe,God Bless.

Afraid of China? With roughly 8.5 trillion in yearly GDP, they have well over 1 billion people. Only 60 million live above the US poverty level. They are more afraid of internal collapse than we are of external domination.
There are fault lines of conflict, but the fear of invasion from external military forces is irrational.
The life span in 1900 in the US was 40. Global gdp, even with our current situation, is expotentially higher than any time in world history.

We will repair and evolve. Technology is coming at us faster and with it ingenuity.

The analysis of most of the commentors is based upon metaphysical thinking. The conclusion that we will see children, in mass , digging for food out of garbage heaps, is derived from this same level of keen analysis.

None of us know if the scenarios above are in fact predictive. Preparedness for disasters is recommended anyway by Federal authorities. Is it possible for Western nations to have a long protracted depression? Of course it is. Therfore common sense approaches like batteries, flashlights, Swiss Army Knifes are as as basic as scouting and military training. THe global economy is very vulnerable because of the debt bomb. The Bible does predict a horrific time prior to a new world. But it also says to have faith, not fear. Another Christian viewpoint is “pan tribulation”. Everything will eventually pan out alright.
Speaking as someone who has lived through both the Rita and Ike hurricanes I can tell you that you had better be prepared to provide for yourself and your family. When there is no electricity, water, phone service, gasoline and other services we depend on, things can get primative in a hurry. You need food, water, medicine and first aid supplies, a camp stove or Hibachi to cook on and a way to protect yourself from the elements as well as from people. All of this was needed and it wasn’t even a complete breakdown of the government. If there is a complete breakdown there will be no one bringing bottled water and MREs. My father always taught us that if you need a helping hand you’d better look at the end of your arm. So you’d better learn to be self-sufficient.
And, just a nod to those who are waiting to be raptured. “Blessed are the meek for they will inherit the EARTH.” Jesus was quoting Psalms 37:10-11 in his sermon on the mount. So, you’d better be prepared to survive on the earth whether it’s just a government meltdown or really THE END.

We have an advantage over the ppl who went thru the huricanes. We’re getting an advansed warning, time to stack up on some essentials and lean how to survive. Plant some medicinal plants. Go buy u some essential oils. There are some that are great antibiotic’s and a drop goes along way.

First of all, the food is still moving because the credit markets didnt freeze, the economy collapse, the bond market dumped and interest rates went through the roof. This is the crash of the dollar. It is based on the relationship of the economy to bonds to interest.
Keeping the food and commerce moving was a key and decisive, if not perfect, maneuver.
We have a ways to go, the President said so in the State of the Union. That was a little over a year ago. We are in a correction, the time of real risk was managed by the very government so many rail against.

Figster! A perfect trap is one which even as you sense it you are drawn further into it. Sex is like that for teens and 20 somethings. If it weren’t so seducing most of us would never have been born. Our country is in a trap. Yes the bailouts the government have implemented have put off the inevitable but not prevented it. Our debt has exceeded our ability to pay. When either interest rates climb again and/or our total debt exceeds our GDP we will collapse. There is no other choice. Probably the last time in our history when we could have gotten out of this mess whole was in the late 70′s. We were cetainly warned back then! But since then we have continued to borrow, tax & spend until today we owe $13 trillion and we have to borrow another trillion or so each year to keep our heads above water. Like sex to a teenager our politicians just naturally prefer borrowing more rather then facing the music. But the piper must be paid. If not this year, maybe next, maybe the one after but soon. At least with sex the reality hits you 9 months later. There is less time then you think…
We lived on a sailboat for 23 years. All of the above sounds familiar. We were on our own, carried at least 6 months food and propane, and were happy. Who needs civilation?

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been reading and worrying since I found the Market Ticker blog about 3 years ago, but am really not prepared. I am going to try to follow as many of these steps as possible. The world is in for some really tough times and I just hope civilization survives it (the economics are worse now than before the Great Depression and remember what that led to; it’s almost a certainty that a collapse of this magnitude brings war sooner or later).

The article is valid and should get you thinking about what it would take to survive. Nothing in the future is guaranteed and learning survival techniques are invaluable. Take a look at the first 4 volumes of the Foxfire books.
One thing that I would disagree with the author about is most of the population lives in cities in this country and when the food runs out they will migrate to the country or rural areas. You can only defend for so long but if you have a mob of desperate and crazed people bearing down on your hideout, you will not be able to stop them all with guns or all the ammo in the world.
Keep in mind that being highly mobile by foot and with light and functional equipment may be your only hope to survive. The contingency plan idea at the end is extremely important. I would have put that first in the article.

@Sunshine, sorry man, I’m a professional researcher and I’ve personally debunked all those claims like not being able to sell your house without making energy saving upgrades etc. and there is no credible evidence supporting any of it.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have food, water, medical supplies, pet food, heritage seeds, etc. for an emergency.
A financial collapse IS a possibility, maybe a long shot possibility but…the way I see it, we take out health insurance in case we get sick, and car insurance in case we get into a wreck, it is relatively CHEAP to provide a little basic needs insurance for your family in the case of an economic collapse or any other kind of natural or man made disaster.
I just don’t think it’s the big bad govmnt we need to be fretting about.
