Remember back in the 70's when everyone started buying Toyotas because they wer so cheap? Who cared what happened to American auto manufacturers.? And we have never stopped. We buy most of our manufactured goods from China now (THANKS WAL-MART!) for the same reason. People we all control this country together, every day With those little green pieces of paper we all carry (Or USED TO BEFORE DEBIT CARDS). We started this mess and then allowed our government to sell our country right out from under our own feet. It's time for America to get involved again. It's time for us to care! Everyone on the block back in the 50's KNEW what thier representatives stood for. Do you?

Just... Wow! A country I once admired back when I was a kid in Asia.... I was so glad when I got here. Only problem was, Obama just got elected president at the time....

I wonder how hard it would be to be self employed in today's economy. Employers are moving jobs overseas, the government is destroying any opportunity to make good money and succeed, and the opportunity that America once provided is very hard to find now.

Time to depend on myself. If this country does not want to provide the opportunities for its people, I'm creating the opportunity, for me to succeed, myself.

Hopefully the knowledge I have gained from rwading numerous books on programming, web design, and business, as a kid, will give me a good foundation.

JUST TRY AND STOP ME SOCIALISTS!

I agree with gary2. Capitalism with a dose of socialism or even vice versa is much better than either one individually. This is a common academic vs practicality contention. Academics build theories - they are useful, but not in themselves. They need to be extended, and evolved.

Also, I dont find gary2's comments to be communist at all.

The right answer is a right mix of multiple political theories - views differ as to what should be applied in which situation, but then that's economics - and the Unpredictable - the future.

Going off on a tangent, it is never right sacrifice stability for growth, and that is what the highly capitalistic American economy is doing. If only America could maintain more stability and reduce volatiliy (and by volatiliy, I mean the extent of bull and bear markets - the prosperous times and the recessions), life would be much simpler and better.

If I spent exponential more money than I earn, I would have a spending problem and people would suggest I need to look at my budget and follow it. Why can a country not follow those simple guidelines that many people all over the world adhere to? I am so amazed about USA and economic policies!

The biggest problmem that we have today is too many individuals want government entitlements without doing the work. The value system work model no longer works. The model today is based on how much of an entitlemenent can I get for doing nothing. Everyone is gaming the system which of course includes the Federal Government. The only value that I have is my vote in November, after that, I have no value to any of the politicians.

I never thought in my wildest dreams that I ever see a revolution in this great Country. Well, I can honestly say it is coming, so you better protect yourself, and under no certain terms can you rely on the goverhemt to help get through it. Our government system and process is flawed and too corrupt to deal with the civil unrest that is goint to be unleased on all Americans. God help us all! I am at the tail end of my life and feel lucky to be at this point in my life.
