It's ridiculous to post "then vs now" prices without adjusting for inflation. It's also ridiculous to compare dis-similar items.

In 1950 a car cost half of the average gross annual salary.....and had very limited features. A TV cost 1/3 your annual salary.......and only had 3 black and white channels.

In 1950 airplane travel (especially international) was reserved for the very wealthy. Telephone calls were prohibitively expensive. Homes were 1/3 the size and had fewer comforts.

......and of course the economy was good. The worlds factories and cities were still in disrepair from WWII.

The canned liberal response. Because you can find some bad, that means
everything was "horrible" - or that the good is irrelevant! By the way, the whole country was NOT racist! And
not all women were "treated like crap". Women could have careers and jobs (though I give you that there were not nearly the opportunities today), but many CHOSE to raise families and actually loved it. While pockets of very open racism occurred (primarily in the South), the whole country was not racist. The 50s saw numerous civil rights laws passed. Overall, the culture then was far better for most, family stronger, morals stronger, middle class stronger, work ethic better, less government dependance. Less of an entitlement culture. less selfish and actually cared more about each other.
