Rest assured there IS a new economic paradigm waiting in the wings, beyond the old right and the old left, a “radical middle.”
What I’d be more interested in seeing would be the “raw” UEMPMEAN graphed here as a percentage of total working population. I’d expect the overall shape to be far different. That having been said, it strikes me that:
1) The number of jobless has never since been below what it was in 1970; not even close. How much of that is pop growth and how much structural change?
2) Only twice earlier has the slope of increase been anything close to what it is now: ‘54-55 and ‘82-83 (eyeballing). Was increasing debt the only effective means of pulling the curve down then? Is that why it can’t work now?
It boggles my mind that a nation of 300 million citizens allow a sitting president to spend to the point of utterly ruining the country. Doesn’t anyone in this administration have the guts to stand up and tell the truth? I see it referred to on numerous shows, several with Peter Schiff, yet on and on the fiscal insanity goes. It’s shocking – we will all bitterly regret that we just stood by and let it go on. Terrible suffering lies ahead and it did not have to be. We did it to ourselves and have no excuse whatsoever. Right now, this president and Congress are hurling us into debt at the rate of 5 billion more a day than we are taking in. This is what caused the problem in the first place. Incompetence reigns! It is almost beyond belief – I never dreamed I’d like to see my country destroy itself like this. It’s truly shocking.
