Let Them Eat Cake: 10 Examples Of How The Elite Are Savagely Mocking The Poor

There is absolutely nothing wrong with working hard and making a lot of money, but there is something wrong with being completely arrogant and smug about it.  Today, many among the elite are savagely mocking the poor, and that is a huge mistake.  You shouldn't kick people when they are down.  There are tens of millions of Americans that are deeply frustrated about losing their homes, losing their jobs or barely being able to survive in this economy.  These frustrations have been one of the primary reasons for the rise of the Tea Party movement and the rise of the Occupy Wall Street movement.  What these movements have in common is that people in both movements are sick and tired of the status quo and they want something to be done about our broken system.  There are huge numbers of families out there right now that have just about reached the end of their ropes.  Instead of showing compassion, many of the ultra-wealthy have decided that it is funny to mock the poor and those that are suffering.  So how are all of these protesters going to respond to the "let them eat cake" attitude of the Wall Street elite?  The protesters are being told that nothing that they can do will change anything and that they should be grateful for what Wall Street and the ultra-wealthy have done for them.  They are essentially being told that they should just shut up and go home.  So will we see these protest movements become discouraged and die down, or will the patronizing attitudes of so many among the elite just inflame them even further?

Right now, there really are two different "Americas".  In one America, the stock market is surging, corporate profits are soaring and BMW is operating factories at 110% of capacity just to keep up with demand.

In the other America, unemployment is rampant, millions of families are being kicked out of their homes and more than 45 million Americans are on food stamps.

There is more economic frustration in this country today than there has been at any other time since the Great Depression.  We are watching pressure build to very dangerous levels.

It is important to note that I certainly do not agree at all with the solutions being put forward by the organizers of the Occupy Wall Street protests.  As I have written about previously, collectivism is one of our biggest problems, and more collectivism is not going to solve anything.

But it is definitely understandable that people are incredibly upset about this economy and that they want to protest.  Most Americans realize that something is fundamentally wrong with our economic system.

Unfortunately, most of them do not understand how we have gotten to this point or what it is going to take to fix things.  That is one of the reasons why I write about economic issues so much.  We desperately need to educate America.

But what is undeniable is that there is a growing rage in this country that protest movements such as the Occupy Wall Street are giving a voice to.

Our system is badly broken.  The people out there protesting in the streets may not understand much, but they do understand that something needs to change.

The Wall Street elite should be taking these protests as a signal that they need to get their house in order.  The status quo just is not going to cut it.  But instead of taking leadership and calling for significant change, many among the elite are openly mocking the protesters.

The incredible arrogance displayed by so many on Wall Street and by so many in Washington D.C. is absolutely appalling.

The following are 10 examples of how the elite are openly mocking the poor in America today....

#1 According to an article in The New York Times, poor families that lost their homes to foreclosure were openly mocked during a Halloween party thrown by the law firm of Steven J. Baum.  This particular law firm represents many of the largest mortgage lenders in the United States....

The firm, which is located near Buffalo, is what is commonly referred to as a “foreclosure mill” firm, meaning it represents banks and mortgage servicers as they attempt to foreclose on homeowners and evict them from their homes. Steven J. Baum is, in fact, the largest such firm in New York; it represents virtually all the giant mortgage lenders, including Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo.

Photos from this Halloween party are posted on The New York Times website.  To say that they are appalling would be a huge understatement.  The following is how The New York Times described one of the photos....

In one, two Baum employees are dressed like homeless people. One is holding a bottle of liquor. The other has a sign around her neck that reads: “3rd party squatter. I lost my home and I was never served.” My source said that “I was never served” is meant to mock “the typical excuse” of the homeowner trying to evade a foreclosure proceeding.

#2 To many on Wall Street, the OWS protests are one big joke.  In fact, Wall Street executives have been spotted sipping champagne while watching the Occupy Wall Street protests from their balconies.

#3 In response to the Occupy Chicago protests, signs were put up in the windows of the building where the Chicago Board of Trade is located that spelled out this sentence: "We Are The 1%".

#4 Many columnists for major financial publications have had no fear of mocking the Occupy Wall Street protesters.  For example, Doug Hirschhorn recently wrote the following for Forbes....

As your Occupation of Wall Street continues, you may want to grasp a few things. First, it is not going to change anything in the short term and probably not much in the long-term either.

I hate to be the bearer of that news, but money makes the world go round and “Wall Street” is all about money. Second, the top traders, banks and hedge funds are still going to out earn and generate substantial profits from speculating on the disconnects in the prices of things generated from all the moving parts in the global economy and it has nothing to do with why you lost your house or job or can’t find a job. If anything the successful ones are helping you, your pensions funds, retirement savings and the economy in general. If Wall Street stops. The world stops. Period.

#5 Instead of attempting a balanced report on the Occupy Wall Street protests, Erin Burnett of CNN openly made fun of them during a recent broadcast.  After being a stalwart on CNBC for so many years, Burnett has very close ties to Wall Street and apparently she does not like anyone criticizing her friends.  You can see video of Burnett mocking the Occupy Wall Street movement right here.

#6 Barack Obama continues to mock the poor by telling them to cut back on vacations and little luxuries like going out to eat while at the same time sending his own family out on incredibly expensive vacations.  The following is one example I noted in an article earlier this year....

Barack Obama recently made the following statement to American families that are struggling to survive in this economy: "If you’re a family trying to cut back, you might skip going out to dinner, or you might put off a vacation." A few days after making that statement Obama sent his wife and children off on yet another vacation, this time to a luxury ski hotel in Vail, Colorado.

Later on in that same article I mentioned another outrageously expensive vacation taken by the Obamas that was paid for by our taxes....

Back in August, Michelle Obama took her daughter Sasha and 40 of her friends for a vacation in Spain.

So what was the bill to the taxpayers for that little jaunt across the pond?

It is estimated that vacation alone cost U.S. taxpayers $375,000.

During a time when so many millions of American families are deeply, deeply suffering it is truly appalling that the residents of the White House would be so insensitive.

#7 Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain recently declared that anyone that is unemployed or poor in America should only blame themselves....

"Don't blame the big banks. If you don't have a job and you're not rich, blame yourself."

#8 Sometimes our politicians are so insensitive that it is almost hard to believe.  In an interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News while she was still the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi stated that we need poor people to have less children because it costs the government so much money to take care of them....

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.

STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?

PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

#9 Warren Buffett has some interesting observations on class warfare.  He is one of the few wealthy Americans that is willing to say what everyone else is thinking.  Back in 2006, Buffett was quoted as saying the following in an article in The New York Times....

“There’s class warfare, all right,” Mr. Buffett said, “but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning.”

Buffett was not taking pride in the fact that the elite have won, but there are many others among the elite that are very proud of what they have done and they are not afraid to look down on the poor.

The level of income inequality that we have in the United States today is absolutely amazing.  According to data from a few years ago, the average household income for the top 0.01% of all Americans was $27,342,212.  According to that same data, for the bottom 90% of all Americans the average household income was just $31,244.

#10 Every single day, our "representatives" in Washington D.C. are living the high life at our expense.  It is amazing that out of the entire population of the United States, we continue to overwhelming elect rich people to Congress.  As I noted in a recent article, more than half of all the members of Congress are millionaires, and the median wealth of a U.S. Senator in 2009 was 2.38 million dollars.

Without a doubt, the wealthy rule over us all and they intend to maintain control and perpetuate the system which has rewarded them so handsomely.

When necessary, they are not afraid to call in the police to bust some skulls.  Sadly, we are already seeing some brutally violent confrontations between law enforcement authorities and Occupy Wall Street protesters in many areas of the country.  The other day, I wrote about the horrific violence that took place in Oakland recently....

Unfortunately, the authorities are not just going to sit by and watch these protests happen.  In fact, they are already clamping down hard in many areas of the nation.  For example, police in Oakland recently used tear gas and rubber bullets to break up the Occupy protest in that city.  When police opened fire, the streets of Oakland literally became a war zone for a few minutes.  You can see shocking videos of the violence here, here and here.

Power and wealth have become incredibly concentrated in the United States today.  As one scientific study demonstrated recently, the elite control almost the entire global economy.  In fact, the University of Zurich study discovered that there are just 147 gigantic corporations at the core of it all.

It is not a good thing that such a very small group of people completely dominates all the rest of us.

Once again, there is absolutely nothing wrong with working hard, making great contributions to society and becoming very wealthy.

However, what we have today is a fundamentally broken system that funnels most of the wealth and most of the power into the hands of the ultra-wealthy and the gigantic corporations that they own.

It would be great if the American people could come together and work to make some positive changes to our system.

But right now, it appears that strife, discord and hatred are going to continue to rapidly grow in this country.  We have become a very divided nation and we are watching anger and frustration grow to very dangerous levels.

All of this is a recipe for mass chaos.  Our country is marching toward a date with disaster and right now we show no signs of changing course.

Please pray for America.

We definitely need it.

Greetings everyone! I must say a few things about this whole mess this world is in: First I want to address the problems of the blatant arrogance, high mindedness, insensitivity, and pride of these powerful and ultra-rich people who think they’re safe and OK. Please take note! “Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain. Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in there own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.” Proverbs 30:8-14 This Bible verse sort of applies to the poor as well, but I’m addressing the powerful and the rich for right now. “Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.” Psalm 39:6 “A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight. When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom. The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them. Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death. The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.” Proverbs 11:1-5 “He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch. Proverbs 11:28 “There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thy art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.” Luke 16:19-26 also continue reading up to verse 31. Now, I’m not against people becoming rich as a result of helping others to get where they want to be in life in a positive manner, but I am totally disgusted at those who mock those who are down and out. For all you wicked and prideful powerful and rich bullies out there, The Most High God is going to judge you severely, swiftly, and with righteousness and reward you with eternal damnation and torments in the Lake of Fire if you are not right with Him. You may be enjoying all your filth lucre in this lifetime full of laughter of the sufferings of the poor and powerless, but your end will surely come to you without warning to sweep you away into your eternal torments in the Lake of Fire were all your worldly achievements, power, and wealth will cease upon your horrible death that is awaiting you! As for all you poor masses, you’re not off the hook with a holy, just, and righteous God who will judge and reward you accordingly, so please also be forwarned of your eternal state. Father God’s Son Jesus Christ is your only hope according to I Cor.15:1-4 which is the gospel of the grace of God for your salvation.

Lets throw the rich into the lake of fire.

Is the lake full of some flammable liquid? How does it burn? Are there some no smoking signs posted all around this lake? Does it contribute to global warming?

      Candice,

MY MOTTO IS SIMPLE: I HAVE NO SYMPATHY FOR PEOPLE WHOSE WOUNDS ARE SELF-INFLICTED:

You must have fallen off the turnip truck one time too many. This so-called arrogance of the rich you claim has merit. They sold the masses a bill of goods, a sucker play if you will, and the masses, like the suckers that they are, bought into it. Any sane, rational, human being with at least two brain cells to rub together knows that the ponzi schemes that have been sold time and time again are fools gold and that anyone buying into it will eventually end up financially, spiritually, and emotionally bankrupt. But everywhere you go all you hear from people, especially the rightwing radicals who call themselves conservative, is so-called amerikan exceptionalism, we’re number 1, this is the best country in the world to live in, ad infinitum……..Well, how is that amerikan exceptionalism working out for ya? Must taste great and is definitely less filling as heard by all the starving, growling stomachs here and around the world. Amerikans are getting exsctly what they have coming to them and the destruction of their world is well deserved in the form of republicans and democrats (G W Bush and Barack Obama, etc.). Well, you know my motto. It still stands.

      • Old Man

America’s troubles are 100% self-inflicted of course. But it is very American to blame a lot of their stupidity on to the Chinese ‘Communist’.

The Chinese simply do what American workers did for a long time – work hard for low but competitive wages to make good things. Do you see 50% obesity in China as you can find anywhere in the US?

The 99% blames the 1%. They blame the imports for taking away their jobs. But they are the ones who enjoyed all these imports for 2 decades, paid for with borrowed money from a private bank (the Fed) and foreign banks. They had a splendid life 1990-2010 without filing a single complaint. If they cared about their jobs, all they had to do is not to buy all the imports and don’t borrow so much money. Nobody forced them to commit suicide.

Yes, while US politics is one of the stinkiest and most stupid in the world, the people have brought their own demise by themselves. America and Greece – so different yet so much the same.

    • Jerryball

Well, that’s spooky. Don’t you just love these warnings, damnations, and schadenfreude as written by 5,000 year ago sheepherders hallucinating in the desert? Like something from a movie about mummies or something similar.

    • CIA Broom Closet Monitor #301

Your non-existent sky God regards the current problems as self-inflicted so it’s up to us to work it out.
Further religion per se is part of the problem and responsible for the murder, war, poverty ect. ect.

We’re mocked by the president, his wife, the bankers and the rich….when does it every end? I need a small vacation, but I can’t afford one.

The OWS people deserve every bit of ridicule they getfor their stupidity, laziness and whining.
Sitting there with their cellphones, ipods, college debts from four years ofpartying and not studying anything useful. Go live out in the wilderness like the Indians did if you can’t make it in the real world.

You got plenty of nothing and nothing is plenty for you.

    • AnonymousJoe

Lots of us studied what was useful at the time.
Teachers are being fired. Those who studied journalism were done out of jobs in news media years ago and music majors replaced by the MOOG and other synthesizers. Even secretaries & clerks replaced by computers.

Technology is replacing human beings at a very fast rate, even faster than humans can be trained to operate or repair them.

You probably didn’t know that the 1% own all of this “wilderness” did you! Live in the wilderness indeed.

And see how their lifestyles worked out for the Amerinds!

Idle minds & hands lead to trouble so jobs MUST be found that are relevant to education.

      • Repairman

Music majors have not been replaced by synthesizers.
You may not realize it, but almost all major motion pictures are first scored on synthesizers, then rerecorded using live orchestras.
These orchestras are filled with real musicians playing traditional instruments and can be paid from $400 to well over $1000 for a few hours of work.
There are also people designing and building synthesizers in the US. Moog themselves are in North Carolina. At least two others in Texas.
These are Americans at work in the US that often sell internationally.

As for me, I’ve been repairing synthesizers for almost 40 years and while I don’t make much money, my home is not in foreclosure either.
Oh… and I live out in the wilderness, almost completely off the grid.
As to education, they didn’t offer any electronics studies when I was in school.
Without enough money, I couldn’t attend college.
        So since I was 18, I’ve been self-employed.
I am, to many, living the American dream.
But I don’t get any paid healthcare, tax incentives or 401K plan either.
Unlike many that do enjoy these perks, I only get paid when I finish a job perfectly.
All the BA, MA and Phds have managed my state’s finances poorly, but this high school educated person has more work than one can handle and no one qualified to hire for help.
Blame education, blame China, but don’t blame an invention. Blame the US companies using China for manufacturing those inventions.

  • Francis Dec

How about “fashion” mockery? Foisting ripped and worn out jeans that need tossed out as being chic and then charging high prices for the honor of purchasing such rags?

  • El Pollo de Oro

Michael T. Snyder writes: “There is absolutely nothing wrong with working hard and making a lot of money, but there is something wrong with being completely arrogant and smug about it.” That sums it up perfectly. Do the rich play a vital role in an economy? Absolutely. I want entrepreneurs to get filthy stinking rich so that they can create jobs. I want the computer nerd who is developing a software program in his/her parents’ basement to grow his/her business, make serious bucks and provide jobs that pay a living wage. That’s capitalism. That’s free enterprise. But Ron Paul, Alex Jones and Gerald Celente speak the truth when they say that we don’t have true capitalism in this country. What we have in The Banana Republic of America (the Third World horror movie that used to be the United States) is corporatism, a rigged game—and as Arianna Huffington pointed out in her book “Third World America,” we are losing our middle class and taking on the economic structure of a Third World country.

“The war is underway. It’s class warfare. It’s Off With Their Heads 2.0. It’s going to be a battle between the haves and the have-nots. Only a very few have everything, and way too many have much too little.”—Gerald Celente

“I heard this guy Herman Cain, the pizza king running for president, saying that Occupy Wall Street are anti-capitalist. You got it wrong, Herman. It’s anti-capitalist to bail out banks and to bail out your buddies. That’s anti-capitalist. If you or I fail, nobody bails us out. In capitalism, you’re supposed to rise and fall on your own merits.”—Gerald Celente

“When people get hungry and desperate, things get ugly. And I’ll tell you where it’s really going to get ugly: crime is going to go to levels we’ve never seen before.”—Gerald Celente

There are many examples of the ultra-rich and the privileged thumbing their noses at the poor and mocking people’s suffering (for example, that disgusting son of a bitch Rush “Pillhead” Limbaugh laughing at the subject of the poor going dumpster diving). But if Pillhead and others of his corporatist ilk really think that human suffering is so damn funny, they should spend a few years in a Third World country and see how things are in El Salvador, Guatemala, Bolivia, Mexico, Jamaica or Panama. In those countries, the uber-rich live in incredibly posh areas; there are parts of Mexico City that look like Beverly Hills, except that the signs are all in Spanish. But the rich in those places also need round-the-clock guardasespaldas (bodyguards) because without them, they would be kidnapped for ransom. In those crime-ridden countries, the poor and the desperate collect what I call the Desperate People Doing Desperate Things Tax (which includes kidnapping, carjacking and violent home invasions). Rich businessmen in Sao Paulo, Brazil often travel by helicopter because it’s easier to avoid the DPDDTT that way.

“When people lose everything and have nothing left to lose, they lose it.”—Gerald Celente

“There are so many people now who don’t have a job. There are so many people who are afraid of losing their jobs. There are so many people who wonder, ‘How are we going to pay the mortgage this month. How are we going to pay the rent this month?’ There are so many people who have already lost their homes and, frankly, they’re living in their cars. That’s the America that we have seen today, that’s been created by Wall Street.”—Alan Grayson

“When the money stops flowing down to the man on the street, the blood begins to flow in the streets—and the money is not flowing down.”—Gerald Celente

Make no mistake: the DPDDTT is coming to The Banana Republic of America. And the more the robber barons mock and ridicule the suffering of the poor, the more they will fan the flames of unrest. Things are going to get incredibly violent in the BRA.

    • mondobeyondo

It actually used to be that way at one time. A couple of buddies could get together in a garage, build some electronics in their spare time, and start a company. Those guys happened to be Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

Not likely to happen these days though…

      • El Pollo de Oro

Mondobeyondo: No, definitely not likely to happen these days. The corporatist deck is totally stacked against small businesses in the BRA.

  • Lilly

We permitted liberals to cleanse our culture of Western honor, ethics and character. They replaced it with humanism’s amoral materialism. This attitude of elitism we see in the political, adacemic and private industry elite goes hand in hand with a culture cleansed of ethics – of honor, empathy and love. They really do think they are superior beings to those less wealthy or formally educated.

Likewise, grabbing at “free stuff” in the name of being poor with no sense of graditude and longing for independence is the result of humanism’s culture as well. There is no shame nor graditude in humanism. Like the humanist international elitists, the poor think they have it all coming to them, too. We live in a country with a public culture that has no honor and love.

    • REED RICHARDS

      Lilly,

      YOU CAN’T BE SERIOUS:

Must have been out drinking last night with Ann
“The Man” Coulter and Billo the Clown. Liberals cleansed the west of honor? Longing for independence a bad thing? Isn’t that what the teabaggers long for, independence from gov’t? Isn’t the far right the most ardent cheerleaders for war, death, and destruction which has left the asylum states of amerika totally devoid of honor?

  • Nostradamus

When president Ronald Reagan came into office, he adopted in large measure the Trickle Down ideology of economics. It says provide all necessary incentives for the smart and wealthy to make more money, because they are the ones who know how best to manage the entire wealth of society. Thus began an era of privatization, de-regulation, tax cuts for corporations and the rich, and hands-off ‘management’ of the economy and society at large.

Under such severely distorted incentive system, the wealthy proceeded not only to make a great deal of money, but they took over finance and control politics to ensure they stay as leaders and as controller of industry and economics.

Today, 1% owns and controls 40%. Needless to say, the 1% is looking forward to a 60% ownership. The 99% found themselves to be left behind. Trickle Down economics has created a 99% Left Behind society. And the more you’re left behind, the less power you have to do something about it.

Are there any other country in the world with a Left Behind official policy? No. Not a single one.

If you are in the so-called 99% and never realized this is going to happen, you have been a fool on two counts. First, you are a fool because you have been fooled for 20 years and not smart enough to understand it. Second, you are a fool because you didn’t even bothered to read a bit of economic history. Because history is full of examples of how this has happened repeatedly especially in the centuries previous to the 20th. It is an old trick.

American Exceptionsim redefined. Fools only apply to foreigners, except to Americans.

  • I can’t think of a people more deserving of what is coming to them than Amerikans.

    Karma – Cause and Effect.

    Naivete is no innocence.

I actually read my way through all of the comments.

I believe that all of the historical allusions are simply not applicable to the USA

first of all, communications are the fastest ever in the history of this planet

(unless you believe in the Atlantis Fable)

secondly, within the USA, more arms are privately held than most nation states have in their military reserve.

the Tea Party enthusiasts were merely a forerunner of We the People, finally becoming wise that the system IS rigged; and has been for a long time now.

this new Occupy (fill in the blank) movement is now the non-professional leftists becoming aware that even with a self proclaimed Progressive in the White House, the system STILL is rigged and will only become WORSE.

the age factor in this OWS group does NOT have any retired police, military nor former “government servants” within it however. as it is currently composed, this movement will not go very far on its own momentum.

However, now that the two differnet sides of the center (bear with me, I HAVE dumbed this down a lot),

it is my VERY humble opinion that some sort of convergence is bound to occur. think early next SPring.

MAYBE this convergence of PROTEST against the very corrupt and very rigged system, will have SYNERGY.

Now I have read & heard this physical science phenomenon applied to social, political and economic events before. usually I have viewed attempts to apply this principle with a jaundiced eye.

    However,

things just MIGHT be different this go round

    if such occurs,

then I have only one simple request,

when the rich are captured, slaughtered and BBQ-ed up

please put me ini for a ham steak, well done with Louisiana Hot Sauce on the side.

For I surely and most dearly want to Eat the Rich.

The Great Revolutionary War was fought so that we would not be a land run by Aristocracy. Now we find that we have reverted to a land run by “Aristocracy.” And most of this Aristocracy has inherited their place in society (Gee, just like 18th century Europe). Time for the ************ again to even the playing field, again?

Corp america is to blame, not gov’t. Gov’t provide services we need, it’s not concerned for the profit. Corp America is concerned about money and will kill you to get it.

Pelosi is absolutely right. It might not be politically correct but you have no right to have a child that you can’t afford to raise. Even the Humane Society screens people who adopt pets for their ability to provide care.

Unfortunately, there is no way to punish the irresponsible parents without punishing the child.

    • Kevin2

The problem is her party has been at the lead in creating a structure to facilitate such behavior.

      • therooster of Christ

Outstanding Kevin … structure is the guiding principle on how power flows. We have been supply driven within hierarchy throughout all of modern history. That’s changing within the information age

      • Chris

Wrong. Pelosi’s party is about responsible birth control. The republican’s are all about irresponsible unprotected sex, which is why they made a big stink over the backward Catholic Church’s insistance that they should not promote responsible sex by offering contraception.

The democrats are all for responsible sex and abortion, which minimizes irresponsible births by parents that can not afford to care for the children.

  • I live in New England. We recently lost power for a couple days. It is amazing to me how unprepared people are! We were all set. Others had no gas, no food, no water, no cash on hand. They couldn’t even make a cup of coffee and were desperate. This was a predicted storm! They had warning it was coming!Imagine how desperate people will be if we have a major, national collapse. The rich 1%ers have no survival skills. There credit cards aren’t going to help them. This was a good practice run. Learn from it people! Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

The next time you mindless nincompoops waddle your fat butts into Walmart, I want you to try and think of something that you might have done to help avoid some of this. Think hard. (sorry if it gives you a headache)

  • mondobeyondo

Another music reference (sorry, music is in my blood, bones, marrow and liver):

    “Busted, disgusted, can’t be trusted”
(“Creeque Alley”, Mamas and Papas, 1967)

That accurately describes America in 2011.

  • mondobeyondo

What are usually the tallest skyscrapers in any major city?

    That’s right. Bank buildings.
    Makes you wonder, huh?

It’s all fun and games until the rich folks’ bodies start washing ashore…

The OWS protests are run by the Marxist Unions, and it is an attempt to spark a Communist Revolution. A Commie regime is not preferable to the current situation.

If I were a genius doctor, I would give away cures for every disease that I discovered myself, ALL FOR FREE just to stick it to the pharmaceuticals.

If I were a genius engineer, I would give away solutions for FREE POWER that I discovered myself, ALL FOR FREE just to stick it to the power station owners.

If I were a genius farmer, I would give away solutions for ways to grow thousands of pounds of organic food in your own backyard that I discovered myelf, ALL FOR FREE just to stick it to people like owners of Walmart.

Essentially, if I were in their realm as a super rich and super powerful elite member, I would do my best to destroy ALL OF THEM from inside. That is the only way to change things: become one of them and pray to G-d that you do not get corrupted yourself and destroy them from inside. Pray for the success of people like Ron Paul.

  • Where is Batman when you need him =S

Okay then, if these people (the wealthy elite) are living off of tax payer money, the only answer is to stop paying taxes. Some have stopped paying the feds, some pay neither fed or state. I suppose that’s an individual matter.

The privileged minority is all but certain that this system of which they alone benefit, will never change. Unfortunately for them the whole world has opened its eyes to this diseased system and one way or another life as we know it is coming to an end; nothing remains the same. The only certain thing is change and it’s time for those who’ve been living off of the blood and sweat of others to receive their just dues.

I look forward to something much better replacing what we’re all living in at the moment. I feel it won’t be very long now. I definitely would not want to be a wall street banker or any of those other pitiful fools given what’s waiting around the bend. I would feel sorry for them but I’ve better things to do.

    Godspeed OWS, Godspeed.

  • therooster of Christ

We live in a hierarchical paradigm and have since the apple was shoved in our faces. Some things have simply not been possible until now. Structure is the determining factor on how power flows and you cannot pour new wine into old wineskins. Create a rounder world.

  • NMObserver

I notice that many people who post on this site insult each other and insult many who are out protesting against the current 1% corporate class that is greedy and insensitive to the 99%. Please be kind to each other. In the 99%, all we have is each other. If we can’t even show kindness and civility here on the internet, where will we?

Nice article, but man, this person needs a proofreader!

“collectivism is not going to solve anything”…no, it will not, but the pro-capitalist trend here will eventually lead right back to where we are.Govt, keep your hands off or, Govt put your hands into everything, we come right back to where we were. Taiwan Land Tiller program, but one way that riots and violence, large scale, avoided… When more people become self employed and owners, they have more of a stake and more to lose, they grow up and become adults, taking on responsibility. Capitalism has always been the few to control the masses……always how it winds up….then morphs into communism..recall, communism funded by the capitalists…..Bella Dodd, when she could not get her orders from Moscow, got them from well dressed gents at the Waldorf Astoria…hmm….control is control, one way or other…..

  • Winston Smith

Doug Hirschhorn-reason why we are in the mess….what is full proof in economic times is not paper, but land, crops, tradesman using their hands….our allegiance to paper is why we are here, partially at least. man does not work all his life for peices of paper, depending on them is our present misery

  • Speaking of Congress: “That which they are given to administer, they think they own!” I ask my Senator recently, “where does the money come from for the President and his wife to continually go on vacations at our great expense?” His reply: “They all do it!” Of course I took this to mean that when “WE” get in the White House, we want to be able to do the same thing. Bring on the Tea Party!

  • jeff fitzhug

The poor people are protesting because they don’t have jobs. If they had work they would be working. So the government knows the protestors are out of work pissed off bastards. But arrests will mean they have to spend more money.

  • jeff fitzhug

The government would like nothing better to take the protestors and round them up and when they declare marial law it’s exactly what they’ll do.

  • Mickey

If Wall Street elite really believe that nothing is going to change they would be well advised to take a refresher course on history!
They may very well wind up like Czar Nicholas and his Family: Rounded up, shot, chopped into pieces and burned.
Mind you I don’t advocate this

  • Keith: If this were really like the French Revolution, you would turn your attention to Washington. The actual ruling elites that caused the problems. The people (Obama and the Democrats) who instituted the TARP give-away and other bailouts *cough* handouts.

Or they would look at the unions, which have forced countless factories to move overseas and caused massive job losses, marching alongside them in OWS protests.

  • Banjo

awwwww…..the “poor” in America have nice cell phones, access to food and healthcare and education, and dress in expensive clothes like their favorite idiotspeak pop star…..life is tough here in “poooooor” America!

Oh, and they buy “their” houses….at 100% loan from a bank……..it’s not “their” house!

Hey, it is owned by the bank…..YOU’RE A RENTER……economic idiots……..
