Lock Your Doors And Prepare To Defend Your Family

Do you think that is an alarmist headline?  Well, I am not the one saying this.  Law enforcement authorities all over the country are telling citizens that they can no longer deal with all the crime and that people need to lock their doors and prepare to defend their families.  Just recently, the city attorney of San Bernardino, California told citizens to "lock their doors and load their guns" because there is not enough money to pay for adequate police protection any longer.  The murder rate in San Bernardino is up 50 percent this year, but the city is dealing with bankruptcy and has been forced to lay off 80 police officers.  But San Bernardino is not the only city dealing with this kind of a thing.  In Oakland, burglaries are up 43 percent so far this year, and to say that there is a "crime wave" going on in Oakland would be a massive understatement.  If you can believe it, in Oakland "more than 11,000 homes, cars or businesses have been broken into so far this year – translating to about 33 burglaries a day."  Sadly, there simply are not enough police to keep up with it all.  Due to budget cuts, it is being projected that by February the size of the police force in Oakland will be about 25 percent smaller than it was back in 2008.  But what is happening in Detroit is perhaps even more frightening.  Today there are about 1,000 fewer police officers in Detroit than there was a decade ago.  But crime just continues to rise.  So now even the police are telling people to "enter Detroit at your own risk".  With very little police protection, an increasing number of citizens are taking matters into their own hands.  As I noted in a previous article, justifiable homicide in the city of Detroit increased by 79 percent in 2011, and the rate of self-defense killings in Detroit is approximately 2200 percent above the national average.  But don't laugh at what is happening in cities like San Bernardino, Oakland and Detroit.  What is happening in those cities will be coming to your community soon enough.

From coast to coast, criminals are becoming increasingly bold and increasingly desperate.  My sister lives near a large city in the middle part of the country, and a house across the street from the one her family just moved into was recently vandalized.  The criminals took all of the exposed copper pipe and copper wire that could be accessed easily.

Other criminals have become very focused on gold because it has soared in value and it is easy to resell.  For example, there have been more than 250 gold chain robberies in Stockton, California just since the month of April.  According to the CBS News affiliate in Sacramento, criminals are just ripping these chains right off of the necks of unsuspecting citizens, and many of the victims that have tried to resist have ended up getting hurt.  Normally the criminals sell off the jewelry within 24 hours, so solving these crimes is a real challenge...

Most victims of the robberies are female (65 percent), and 44 percent of victims are age 50 or older, the data showed. The most common time of day for the crimes were between 12 and 5 p.m., though this only accounts for about a third of the crime.

Parino said robbers took even police by surprise initially.

“When [criminals] do these crimes, they normally get rid of the items within 24 hours,” he said.

That’s why police are now checking up on secondhand stores and pawn shops on a weekly basis.

Many dismiss reports such as these as "anomalies", but how many "anomalies" do we need before we finally admit that we have a widespread problem in our society?

Personally, there are many major U.S. cities that I would not want to be living right in the middle of right now.

Just take a look at Chicago.  It has become one of the deadliest major cities on the entire globe.  In recent years we have seen massive cuts to the police budget coupled with a dramatic increase in gang activity in Chicago.

The murder rate in Chicago is way up this year and the police force is massively outnumbered.

As I have written about previously, there are only about 200 police officers assigned to Chicago's Gang Enforcement Unit.  It is their job to handle the estimated 100,000 gang members living in the city.

How would you like to be outnumbered 100,000 to 200?

When things really hit the fan, Chicago is going to be a complete and utter nightmare.

And sometimes we get a peek into how people will behave when things break down.  Just look at what happened during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

If you can believe it, some criminals actually took advantage of the Thanksgiving holiday to loot homes in the Breezy Point neighborhood of Queens.  That was the neighborhood where approximately 100 homes burned down.  The suffering of the residents of that neighborhood made headlines all over the nation.  But that has not stopped criminals from moving in and taking advantage of their vulnerability...

Cops told the victims burglaries are on the rise in Breezy Point.

There were 14 home break-ins from Nov. 12 to Nov. 18, compared with none a year before.

And in the 28 days before that, there were 48 burglaries. Only four break-ins were reported in that time period the year before.

In the days after Sandy, some of the hardest-hit areas were plagued with store looting, home burglaries, street muggings and other crimes.

There are some very sick people out there.  These days you simply do not know who you can trust.  The person you meet on the street may be perfectly fine or they may be a total sicko.  It is so hard to tell.  But without a doubt there are a lot of sickos out there.  Just check out what authorities in Pennsylvania found recently...

Animal welfare workers say 11 puppies were found dead and skinned near an eastern Pennsylvania park.

Sadly, authorities in that area had come across another similar incident recently...

The discovery is second disturbing incident in the county in less than a week. About 20 miles away in Lynn Township police say a dog was discovered skinned and cooked.

Who would do such things?

What in the world is happening to this country?

Things are changing, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.  As conditions shift, we are all going to have to carefully evaluate what is necessary to protect our families.  Don't ignore all of the warning signs.  Sticking our heads in the sand and pretending that everything is going to be okay is not going to help anything.

So what do all of you think about all of this?  Please feel free to post a comment with your opinion below...

This morning while I was walking to church with my daughter from my house I notice that there was some police activity down the street. Also there were police activity in the alley behind my house. I ask what was going on and I got a none of your business attitude from the police office. I press on saying I was concerned because the alley was behind my house. They said that there was a stray animal in the alley. If they were after a person, I would have gone back in my house and armed up. When I was walking back to my house I notice the pitt bull they were after was down the street and that one of the police officers was carrying a rifle down towards the dog on the other side of street.

I never saw what happen to the dog or heard any guns went off when I was back in my house with my daughter. I wanted to know what the back story of the dog. It could have belong to a person who trained the dog for dog fighting, or it could have been trained by someone with ill intentions to attack people. Those are the people that I have to worry about.

Hey, give the police a break, they get hungry too.

      • cherylmeril

Do they give us a break? Rarely.

  • 2Gary2

we are done negotiating with the American Taliban AKA conservatives.

The only way for us on the left to drag the national dialog back towards
the center, much left towards left of center, is to start being MORE
liberal with our demands instead of simply compromising.

When a Republican demands a repeal of the ACA, we should not argue it’s
merits. We should make a demand for single payer. When a Republican
demands that tax rates stay where they currently are, we should not
argue the merits of allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire, but demand
that tax rates on the wealth and businesses be set even higher – back to
Reagan era rates while also reverting to Reagan era deductions.

The reason why the left has such a hard time lately combating the right
is because we aren’t being forceful enough, and we’re trying too hard to
compromise with those that refuse to compromise even an inch, and that
allows for the national conversation and the political center to
continually move further to the right. That is why many Democratic pols
seem to be governing from a traditionally center-right position instead
of being somewhat liberal. We have allowed that to happen by
attempting to be reasonable, rational, and fair when negotiating with
    the rightwingnuts.

    • Scorns Ghost

I agree comrade. What we need is to get those conservatives and libertarians to go out in the streets and shoot their guns and blow things up. Then, our Dear Leader can impose martial law and stop pretending to care about the good for nothing constitution. You are so right, comrade. Tell em how it is.

    • Mark

Gee Gary2, I saw a post over at Zerohedge today that claimed that if you recieved $29,000 in welfare, food stamps, free rent, free obama care etc. you had more spending power than someone earning $69,000 and $57,000 in benefits before taxes. If the math is right, why even bother to work and pay taxes. So tell me Gary, is this rational, reasonable and fair? So, who is going to pay my benefits, you know my free rent, when you force all the rich people to leave to start another country that has more freedom. Heck, they are all rich enough to group together and buy another country. They might even not have to pay for their servants as they could pass a law that makes slaves legal. lol Gary2, you really are a dope sometimes.

      • 2Gary2

think for a minute before you say such stupid things. The purchasing power of someone making 69,000? from someone getting 29,000 in welfare? If this were even remotely true we would not be in a recession as demand would get us out of it.

This is so obviously not true its hard to believe you would post it. I guess at least you are a good example of the low information conservative voter, and why us progressives will be taking over the country. (see the last election for president)

        • Mark

Gary2, you are so blind that you can’t see the forest through the trees. It does not matter if the math adds up.If the number is lower, so what. What matters is who will stay around in large enough numbers to pay the taxes you wish to impose on the rich. Let me give you an example how crazy the left is. Take Obama care in 2018 when you have to start paying taxes on the amount your employer or union pays towards your health care benefits. In my case I receive a small union pension of about $1100 a month. The union takes $450 from my pension for my share of health benifits. I have to pay tax on the whole $1100. The total for the year is about $13,200. From that the state and federal government takes about $4620 in taxes which will increase after the first of the year. The amount paid towards health care benefits is around $5400. That leaves me my fair share of about $3180. Now in 2018 since my union has good health care benefits, we will be taxed on the larger amount that it pays towards our health care under new taxes imposed by Obama care. The health care package will probably get caught up in the new 40% special income tax for good health care packages. Say that the union pays out $23,000 plus my $5400 for a total of about $28,400 and it could be a lot higher as health care is going up a lot each year. So, I will have to pay out 40% of the $23,000 the union pays towards this new tax. That comes out to about $9,200 in taxes. Now let’s add up my new tax bill starting in 2018 from my pension. I recieve the $13,200, then subtract the current tax of $4620, then subtract the $5,400 we pay towards our health care package, and now subtract the $9,200 that Obama care imposes for a total tax of $13,820 plus my share of $5,400. So instead of having $3,180 in my pocket and a health care package today in 2012, in 2018, I will get to have zero in my pocket from my pension that I worked hard labor for as a plumber and I will have the privledge of paying $620 from my other income to cover the nice health care package. I always thought that at some point that my pension would a least buy a couple of bags of food and my share of the healthcare package as inflation heats up, but thanks to your idea of my fair share of taxes, the food bags are gone without the inflation in the math. Thank you Gary2 and Obama for setting me straight on how I am now being fair. We have a great future ahead in our retirement years, oops I might have to become a door checker at Walmart.

          • 2Gary2

“it does not matter if the math adds up.”

You see that is the problem with conservatives–they live inside the bubble where facts do not matter.

At least you are admitting that what you are saying is right wing BS by stating the above quote before your post.

          • Mark

Gary2, you need to read the whole post. I gave you real facts that are real about the Obama care tax. The idea that the post at zerohedge was to discuss the problems of why many people do not even look for work. I have seen many times as a landlord over the years, tenants on SSI saying it would not be worth it to look for work as the job would not pay as well as their SSI and government healthcare. The point is that a safety net is not supposed to make someone so comfortable that they would not look for work Gary2, you do not even seem to be willing to discuss the pros and cons of a topic. Everything from you is tax the rich or nasty remarks about Walmart. So, if you want to tax the rich, define who is rich and how high the tax rate will be under your system. Then tell us how you would bring the debt down with balanced spending. If you do not feel that we need to balance our spending, tell us with out swearing how we pay for it without printing dollars .Propose some real ideas if you are able and let’s discuss them. That is what this blog is all about.

          • 2Gary2

the rich need to be taxed at at least 70% and I like Obama’s rich at 250,000. How about looking at why the jobs pay such a low wage as opposed to why SSI would pay more.

Also your anecdotal evidence is worthless at proving anything. This is again something I should not need to point out.

          • Mark

Gary2 ,so if I make 250,000, the federal government should take 175,000 and the state I live in would take10%, another 25,000. I would only take home 50,000 after taxes. Is this your idea of fair? If you would care to think about why wages are low today, you might consider that workers in the US today compete with other workers in other countries. If Walmart pays a higher wage, then their low cost products would have to go up in price to pay for the increased overhead. That is ok if you are willing to pay for the labor inflation through out the economy. Taxes do matter, it is very simple math if I have less take home pay, I will spend less and in turn we will have less demand. You have now said where taxes should be, how are you going to cut spending. As it stands now social security, medicare, government pensions, VA benefits and interest on the debt take 250 billion more than the total taxes. Your higher income tax on those that make 250,000 and up will be a drop in the bucket. Where will you cut enough to make a difference in our debt? Or should we just keep on printing. Remember, no swearing or nasty words, come up with some real numbers since you feel that my numbers are worthless.

          • davidmpark

You really feel threatened by conservatives don’t you, Gary?

          • 2Gary2

I only feel threatened by conservative policies. I have seen first hand the devastation these policies have caused. The number of kids in poverty is huge and conservatives still advocate cutting programs that will help these children in order to give tax cuts to the rich. The party of family values is anything but family values. I actually feel bad for conservative people as it must be scary going through life having fox news, rush, am hate radio, the koch brothers etc tell you what to believe. However in my experience the average conservative is not all that smart so maybe they don’t know they live in a fact free zone. Why are conservatives all ok with welfare for the rich, military contractors, and corporations like walmart (who is gov subsidized with their employees on food stamps etc) but they howl when someone who is poor gets food stamps

          • davidmpark

            That’s your reply?

Gary, I’m being serious here – get some professional help. You come to a website that is pretty much set-up for the prepper movement. This is not the Daily Kos, Huffington Post, Fox News site, or anything like that: Mike’s posts are geared towards those who feel the need to prepare but need some nudging toward action. Counterbalance is not necessary – it’s not a debate on politics nor does it need your vitriol towards conservatives since the prepper movement has people from all spectrum’s and creeds that want to be ready for problems ahead.

You are constantly angry, impertinent, and cruel to those who don’t share your views. Your posts reveal who you are and you’re not winning anyone over by calling them derogatory names to vent your fear and anger at people that you really want to be just like. And if it’s to get people silenced by fear, it ain’t working, either. That’s really the only reason, apart from fear, anyone has for hating another with daily ferocity is jealousy.

Many on the Left have claimed to be the most compassionate, the most concerned for the poor and destitute. And after reading your posts for so long, you have proven you are not capable of such! Your only argument is to call people uninformed, stupid, or whatever derogatory and inflammatory personal attacks comes to mind – that is not argument; that is impertinence. The is no compassion nor concern in your posts.

I don’t particularly like the conservatives either. Got too many bones to pick with ‘em – but that’s why I contact them directly. I don’t go to a website that not really for that and call them stupid and try to pass off rhetoric as established fact. I really have an axe to grind with the Left for multiple personal reasons – mostly cause the worst of ‘em are calling for a return to euthanizing the disabled; including my wife! I contact them directly to voice my outrage; not go to a place where they are not likely to be.

You are not well in the head, mate. Seriously, such an angry person seeking to impose political balance on a preppers site for others to share their ideas on how to better care for their families and to read on why they have to finish their goals of self-reliance is ludicrous at best. But to use such hatred and cruelty are signs of a disturbed individual who thinks such things are appropriate. Gary: get – help – now. Call up a mental health center and see someone over your anger issues. It ain’t healthy.

          • 2Gary2

Doomsday for the GOP – they are certainly not on the populist
side of this issue and everyday they have to be brought dragging and
screaming on behalf of the top 2% -is another day they diminish
themselves in the eyes of the public.

So, Republicans are once again proving that they are willing to raise
taxes on the middle class to give more tax cuts to the richest among
us. Of course, they voted against the payroll tax cut a year ago.
House and Senate Republicans have voted for Ryan’s budget numerous times
that raises taxes on the poor and middle class to give more tax cuts to
            the wealthy.

Some facts the GOPTea Don’t Want You To Know About Taxes and the Debt:

            1. President Obama cut taxes for almost all working Americans
            2. Ronald Reagan tripled the National Debt
            3. GWBush doubled the National Debt
            4. Reagan Raised the Debt Ceiling 17 Times and GWB raised it 7-times
            5. The Bush tax cuts didn’t pay for themselves or spur “jobs creators” because they didn’t create jobs
            6. Almost all working Americans pay taxes
            7. Low Capital Gaines Taxes fuel income inequality
            8. …But not investment
            9. The Estate tax has virtually no impact on family farms and businesses
            10. Income Inequality has reached an 80-year high…
            11. …While the Federal Tax Burden has hit a 60 year low
            12. McConnell, Boehner, Cantor and Ryan voted to raise the debt 19 times under GWBush
            13. The $3 trillion dollar tab for unfunded wars remains unpaid
            14. Tax cuts drive the next decade of debt
            15. The Ryan budget would require raising the debt ceiling—repeatedly
            16. Social Security does not add to the deficit
            17.
Grover Norquist is not an elected politician, he is a lobbyist, and the
GOPTea should not be swearing allegiance to him over their oath of
office. The congress has been taking an oath to support and defend the
Constitution of the United States since 1789.
            18. Nothing the GOPTea is suggesting is going to solve our debt problem. Please vote-out the GOPTea in 2014.

Some of this is a cut/paste from comments on huff post

          • 2Gary2

Living in your own fantasy world may feel nice and even comforting but
math is real and Republican math just doesn’t add up. Joe Biden trounced
your math genius Paul Ryan, who couldn’t be bothered to do the math on
his own proposals. Tax cuts don’t create revenue, they create deficits,
but Republican math isn’t designed to add up, it is designed to do the
one thing Republicans care about, making rich people richer. David Koch
and Rupert Murdoch aren’t paying for moderation. The fact is, Republican
tax policies create deficits on purpose so Republicans can use those
deficits as an excuse to destroy the social programs they have always
            tried to destroy.

            Republicans SUCK!

Conservatives steal from the poor and give to the rich.
They give tax breaks to the rich and cut welfare.
They use taxpayers money to buy guns and ammo to enjoy a firework somewhere in the middle east. they send the poor there to be slaughtered, while they own the arms manufacturers that reap the profits from all that gvt spending.

A single parent who earns $29k does not qualify for welfare benefits.

        • Mark

The $29,000 refers to the benefit package plus free health care. This did not include free cell phones or any other items that might be supplied. I am not stating these numbers as fact, just a post at Zerohedge that seemed interesting to me. You can earn under the table money and not have it counted as it relates to welfare, baby sitting ect.

          • 2Gary2

again–facts do not matter to conservatives, only what they hear on fox or rush matters to these low information easily manipulated dolts.

    • otter1111

Gary, you probably didn’t notice, but the cities mentioned above are all run by liberals. Detroit has been run by liberals for probably 40 years. Shouldn’t it be a great place to live by now? If you go to the state level, look at California vrs. Texas. This is from an article from the web:

There are fewer private-sector jobs in the state (California) today, 11.9
million, then there were in 2000, 12.2 million.

And thanks to liberal welfare requirements, a third of all the nation’s
welfare recipients live in California despite the state only containing
      one-eighth of the national population.

Contrast those numbers with Republican-controlled Texas, where
private-sector jobs have grown from 7.8 million in 2000 to 9 million today.

California poverty is high as is that most important of
liberal priorities— income inequality (higher than in Texas)—while test scores
      remain low:

Meanwhile, California eighth-graders finished ahead of only Mississippi and
District of Columbia students on reading and math test scores in 2011.

Maybe that’s why everyone’s leaving California, according
      to a Manhattan Institute study.

Liberal policies destroy society. I know you won’t see this. You’ve been reading this website long enough to know how bad Obama has been, but you still don’t see it. Hopefully others do.

      • 2Gary2

actually your “facts are backwards” How many of the jobs in texas are low pay vs. family supporting? The manhatten institute is a right wing hack group and has no creditability.

        • otter1111

So which facts are backwards, Gary? There were a lot of facts in my last post. And attacking the Manhattan institute? So any organization that is right of center has no credibility? The only place for reliable news is The Daily Kos or Huffington Post? The fact is Texas has been gaining jobs while California has lost them. The fact is most rational people wouldn’t want to live in cities run by liberals like Oakland or Detroit. The fact is getting every tax Obama wants won’t even touch the budget deficit. The fact is we’ve had the last four budget deficits over a trillion dollars and we continue to have runaway spending.

      • JustanOguy

Lol… facts never matter to the “takers” because they think “taking” even more is the solution.

People used to be able to vote with their feet and go live in Libtard Land or No Big Government land if they wanted to …..

Now we have to live with the “we know better then you” crowd wanting to run the entire country into the ground.

  • 2Gary2

Unionize walmart and tax the shot out of them and all corporations who are getting a free ride.

Wal-Mart is really good at placing the onus of their employees’
well-being on the tax payers. The real story here is why people are so
cynical as to blame the legislation (Obamacare) aimed at caring for people Wal-Mart
clearly has no interest providing an equitable wage to for the business
decisions of a privately held corporation.

    Guess what kind of
laws we wouldn’t need if corporations like Wal-Mart would pay a living
wage. One can only imagine how low tax rates would be.

Obamacare is what i was told but not sure. I bring this up as know a woman that has Lupus that takes meds and now can’t get..sad situation and i bet there is plenty more.

It was designed that way. It will only get worse. They want to deliberately destroy America. These people are not your ordinary road side thugs. Man, If you only knew whom you are dealing with, you wouldn’t live in America for another second.

Your guns won’t help you. Your society won’t help you. You are on your own and its the worst feeling to know, when you were a good guy all your life and when bad things start to happen to a good guy like you. It s**cks.

All peace loving, sane people must come together and build a community. Do not spread out, come together, that is our only chance against darkness that has surrounded America now

    • Ralfine

Community? Communism? Commies in America? Forget it. Not in a million years. They rather copy lemmings and jump from a cliff or kill each other.

  • http://karmaeconomics.blogspot.com/ lavista4u

Wake up. Its a PSY-OP. Its a plan to introduce US military to the streets of America. The reason they will give is “Less Police More Crime”, so lets bring in the Military to control the streets.

I just had a WOW moment. was thinking about this all month now, I wanted to know where they are going with this. Pretty neat move by the psychopathic elite mind. Majority of Americans will now accept US military to patrol the streets of America to suppress the “crime” while they take your liberty away.

Be very very careful when these councilmen and mayors open their mouths as if they care about you.

[The city attorney of San Bernardino is under scrutiny for telling residents to “lock their doors and load their guns” during a city council meeting.

City Attorney Jim Penman said he doesn’t regret what he said. “You should say what you mean and mean what you say,” Penman said.]

Yeah, right. This is classic “false love” method used by the elite to dupe humanity for more than 10000 years now. Please do not fall for the trap.

Ohh my god, they are bringing US military to American soil. This is it..

  • Makati1

Actually, dog is a standard food source in many parts of the world. You don’t know what you will eat before you die. ^_^

As for the robberies. Go ahead, walk the street with your Rolex and Gucci and make sure you park your Mercedes in plain sight. Have everything in an easy-to-spot location and pray.

Here in Manila, a city that is probably safer than NYC, I wear worn genes (real, not the fake designer ones), tee shirt, no watch, jewelry, cheap cell phone, id card and some cash. (Never more than I can afford to lose.) I have had no problems in almost 5 years and I am 68. Yes, every store of any size has an armed guard at the door, but they are polite and open the door for you and greet you as you enter or leave. I would NOT walk the streets of Philly by myself or NYC and never go into Detroit. Of course there is crime here, but not as much as you would expect in a city of 15 million plus.

Of course it’s always the police that are the first to go in these socialist utopia states like Crapafornia. Has the mayor, bureaucrats, gov’t unions agreed to any pay cuts to save the city??? Of course not!! … The hell with em’ they get what they deserve for voting for for 4 more years of the same. You can’t fix stupid… enjoy your democrap super majority Crapafornia! LOL!

Black people have been excused for years for the horrible content of their character….and we need a change

Just like the RIAA never sued Black people….think about it…..it was all to prevent or stall the day white folk would download or steal the music just like black people did, and EBAY allowed black people to post all sorts of MP3 hard drives burnt cd’s …its easy to tell rap hip hop underground, mixtapes mashups…….you’d report them and they still were selling them next month

  • Jodi

We send billions overseas to countries that hate us but we can’t pay a single dime to police officers to protect us. How sad!

  • richard

I GUESS IT IS TIME TO GO BUY A EXTRA GUN AND MORE AMMO. IT’S GETTING REALLY SAD OUT THERE.

  • 2Gary2

all excellent points. I am so sick of the welfare for the rich and corporations which is way higher than any welfare for the poor. Look at the MF Paul Ryan (my rep) he cuts programs for the poor, literally taking food from the mouth of kids in order to give further tax cuts to the rich who already are way under-taxed. This MF is from the party of family values.

I think even the less smart are starting to catch on that the republicans are only for the rich and corporations. Look at these MF going to the mat in order to keep the tax cuts for the rich.

2Gary are you saying that a person should not reap the benefits of their labor? Are you saying that someone else deserves those rewards other than the person that worked for them?

      • Jared16

Benefits of their labor? How much labor are the fat cats CEO’s doing to deserve getting paid millions more then the average worker? You stick up for the greedy rich who are experts at avoiding paying taxes. You think they are going to trickle down their wealth to you? Keep dreaming!

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000633875894 Randy Townsend

Every time I read a post like this, I wonder what people like this think would be accomplished if the government confiscated ALL the wealth from the “rich”. Do they really believe the government would transform the lives of the poor with this new found wealth? Do they think things would be so much better for the poor? Why? Government is abysmal in doing ANYTHING, let alone taking care of people. This class warfare is a distraction. The rich will always be there, as will the poor. The rich man doesn’t take money out of my pocket when he makes a big salary, but government does when it taxes me. I don’t hate the rich and I know government is not the answer to any problem.

      • 2Gary2

I agree with Jared16 and can not say it any better.

      • Ralfine

You mean like nurses, cleaners, truck drivers, carpenters, metal workers, etc.? Yes, they deserve more than they get right now.

  • chilller

Those who dismiss these events as “anomalies” need to study the definition of anomalies more closely. They completely miss the fact that these “anomalies” are predictable side effects of societal breakdown instead of unexpected occurrences of a nominal society. These are the people, either with their head stuck deeply in the sand or are more of the same crowd attempting to calm the masses while our world unravels around us. I’m thinking the latter. But if you took the average, MSM gobbling American and told them everything that’s REALLY going on in our country today, they’d think you were lying, nuts or just a doom and gloomer. When the day of reckoning comes for them, they will lose it.

  • Ralfine

Sorry guys, if everyone can have a gun and guns and death penalty deter criminals, why is the crime rate in America so high?

    • mainstreeteconomist

Switzerland has a heavily armed population and a low crime rate.

Compare Switzerland and the USA to understand what is wrong here.

For example, Switzerland treats drug use as a medical problem rather than a crime.

      • rex84

Switzerland is an ethnically homogeneous country, while metropolitan USA is fully of ethnocentric lowlifes.

I dont like the new comment system,Im about done!I dont want to sign in and sign up everytime!!!
If it aint broke dont fix it!

    • 2Gary2

it also slows down the web site.

Plus Michael–Most conservatives are not smart enough to figure out the new commenting system as evidenced by the lack of comments with the new system. That may not be so bad as the conservatives mostly say jibberish anyways.

  • Incurablewound

Michael the low comment levels alone should tell you, that YOUR people dont like the new system. What happened to 200-300 comments?

You are an outstanding Journalist with Great stories-dump this new garbage!

    • Mark

I do not need to sign in each time through disqus. This is a very easy system and people are able to have their post up in real time.

    • MichaelfromTheEconomicCollapse

Unfortunately a change was forced upon me. I either had to go to a new system or dump comments completely.

Disqus is used by a lot of major sites now, and it actually works really well once you get used to it.

      Michael

  • arizonadiane

This what I don’t understand. Fed Govt, State Gov, City and Town govt always cut the emergency services. Why? They need to cut the people sitting behind the desks wasting money. There is so much waste in ALL departments.

I work for a school district. They cut classified people, custodians, maintenance, grounds, but not one Administrator who is making way too much money. They only cut (or do not replace) teachers, when student count is down.

    • otter1111

I believe they do this so they can justify higher taxes. When you cut police and firefighters, the general public gets scared and is more willing to pay higher taxes. Cutting wasteful spending would not help the cause of bigger government.

  • april showers

If you can’t handle barbed wire, (it’s really hardcore) Plant wild roses or other thorny bushes around the perimeter of your house and yard/fence. Let it get really bushy around the windows, gates and trees etc. Lemon trees are very thorny as well. Dogs are the very best alarm system.

    • http://www.facebook.com/Junebug58102 Sandra Kleinsasser

Actually your comment reminded me of a large bush with up to 4 inch thorns all over it under a window of a elderly woman, at the time I thought “If there is a fire and you jump out here you will get stabbed” it looked and was a sturdy bush in ND. If you did need to jump out throw a very heavy blanket on it, wish I knew what that bush is called.

Certain birds are also good alarms.

I have been telling my wife for over two years that, as jobs become more scarce and LEO’s become even more scarce, we will see crime rates soar. I believed this so strongly that I finally quit procrastinating and got my WPL. I want myself and my family safe.

  • 2Gary2

Dear Conservatives, the voters have spoken. They want to tax the rich.
They like Barack Obama better than you. Your “Southern Strategy” and
hardcore base of pissed off white guys who are bad at math has
collapsed. Nearly a month after the re-election it is totally obvious
that you haven’t learned a damn thing. I understand this is hard for
    you.

This is the Gilded age of Wall Street on steroids. Guess what,
Republicans; you built that. Republicans can not talk to the rest of us
until they realize that those “job creators” are vulture capitalists
destroying labor and wages. Republicans who long for the strong economy
of their parents world must be forced to recognize that labor unions and
Democrats who fought for FDR’s New Deal policies made that possible.
Republicans need to understand that it is not just their candidates who
suck, it’s their policies that suck too.

When you have a base of know-nothing idiots who watch Fox News all day, they nominate idiots to run for office.

Conservatives–you are NOTHING but a bad dream. You are toast!

    • Mark

Dear Gary2, many voters have spoken. There are now more takers than producers voting. We are all toast, you along with me. At least I will take your boasts to heart and double down on our being prepared for the results of the lefts policies.

  • Samantha

What if police departments spent their budgets on man power instead of high tech military hardware? Also, do the police need to send four cars and eight officers to every traffic stop? When I was a kid, one police officer was all it took to write a ticket, now there are half a dozen or more involved in the simplest activities. Why the overwhelming show of force to nail a jay-walker?

  • Patriot

Why would you want to tell the world (and the government who monitors the web) about all the guns you own????? Chatty kathy…..it is better to keep your personal life in regards to what you have, to your self, especially given the very sad fact that we have to endure 4 more years of a socialist, anti-constitutional, gun hating, globalist presidnet.

  • JustanOguy

    Michael,

Something you don’t bring up is some of the massive salaries + benefits for police officers in some of these cities you bring up. I know for a fact that a couple of them have salaries + benefits of $100k+ and are protected by unions when it comes to pay cuts… or even putting a freeze on pay increases.

So basically… the municipalities they are in who have seen their collected revenues decimated (property tax revenues down, etc, etc.) have no choice but to stop hiring new police officers even after police officers are retiring because their budgets can’t cover the minimum salaries + benefits to hire new officers.

Police officer full pensions in Chicago are north of $100K a year.

It’s certainly a mess after the out of control spending / spending obligations taken on during the credit bubble days.

Chicago / Oakland– How ironic that cities with some of the toughest handgun laws in the U.S. are in the worst shapes…. especially when the crap does hit the fan.

  • Ralfine

And cancel the carrots if you love veggies.

3000 yards? What kind of threat is attacking you from 3000 yards? Tanks? Missiles? And you defend yourself with a rifle? If your attacker also uses a rifle on 3000 yards, how do you defend yourself BEFORE he has fired his first shot and hit you fatally?

I prefer an AK-47. It’s reasonably accurate on single shot up to 200m, and has enough firepower to penetrate cars on shorter distances.

In the end, it all depends on your eyesight anyway. So start with getting glasses and spares or laser surgery. :-)

    Against theft there is insurance.

  • Ralfine

OK, so how does that compare to Bush, Bush and Reagan?

    • Washington76

What part of Borrowed More Than All Presidents from George Washington to George W. Bush what part do you not understand?

Who actually got the debt from $5,693,220,327,798.14 (5 months after GWB entered office) to $10,626,877,048,913.08 (Barack Obama took over)?

The legal way is to make a law that other people have to give you their money.

    It’s unbelievable!

Without Christ people will act out in despair in peril times. The fiscal cliff is not going away, as watch out for 2013 when all food sources are going to be effected because of world demand, energy costs & DROUGHT. The euro also is increasingly becoming unstable. 1 in 4 people in Greece is out of work! The fabric of this world has become financially weak as one major collapse anywhere will produce a wave of effects around the world. The wake up call for humanity is growing near. It is written: “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God.’” Romans 14:11.

  • cherylmeril

Put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ an accept Him into your heart along with the Holy Spirit to guide you through. Love Jesus with all your heart, mind and soul by doing such things as reading and abiding by Holy Scriptures. This is a spiritual war more than anything else.

  • cherylmeril

Instead of this headline of fear and hate, a Christian would be posting “Prepare to help your neighbor and arm yourself with the Word of God. Prepare to share your food, water and come to the aide of the fallen. Teach them about Jesus Christ and His gift of forgiveness of our sins through His blood on the cross and ultimate redemption. Teach them the love of Jesus by following God’s commands.”

  • http://www.facebook.com/gary.shane.14 Gary Shane

The human race is being destroyed from within. The cure is doing this. If you Love me you will keep My commandments, If you do I will Pray to The Father that you may have The Spirit for a Teacher and Comforter Forever, The Spirit will bring All of My words to your mind. John, chapter 14, verse 26. The Spirit of God will Teach you of things to Come. John, chapter 16 verse 13. The 12 of Christ ask Christ to plainly show them the Father, and the way to the Father, and then agreed he had.
