I looked into Belize. Beautiful country but the people there seem to despise foreigners and steal from them constantly
Not too safe anywhere near Belize City or even Corozal(sp)
from what I have read, too. Basic hardware and building supplies, etc (hard goods) are three times or more what they are here and land in Belize is NOT cheap if it is good land
Oh, how I wish it were not so as I had intended on retiring there.
Still looking…will find my place soon

yep, you call us nuts now. if something does in fact happen, you will be one of the 1st to be looting from people who have prepared, and probably lose your life in the process of looting.

This article is right on the nail. The only drawback for America is that the US government has just signed legislation allowing the Feds to enter ANY and all homes to confiscate any “hoarded ” food and drink . They want it for the army and rescue services!
So prepping is a waste of time. How DARE they when the government could be stocking up with 25 year shelf-life food themselves!

Ahh..you know that fuel pumps require electricity in most cases right? You also realize that risking one’s life to deliver food to the grocery store will take on a whole nother dimension – one that most will not risk their lives for…right. ?

Well..being responsible is a whole nother thing. We are now living in a nation where our government has urged people to become dependent on government assistance, and about 40% of them have acquiesced.
You, me and anyone else who sees the handwriting on the wall of things to come, should just get over “others being responsible for themselves”; cause very damned few of them will take that initiative.
clearly a huge number of ignorant people voted the liar in not once, but twice and poll after poll show huge numbers supporting the liar and minions on clear constitutional violations, and nothing is done.
GET OVER PEOPLE TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEMSEVLES.
It’s simply not going to happen anymore.
Those days are gone.

To the arthor; people don’t think preppers are crazy because they don’t realize all of thing they understand could happen in a chain of events, they think preppers are crazy because preppers have absolutely no way of knowing that an event is even to occur, let alone an event which would be on the scale or level which would cause such a chain of events.
There is a huge difference…you know that right?

I live way off the coast of australia, actually above a mountain range that would hopefully stop a tsunami of high magnitude. A few years ago we had a tsunami hit our town, this is not a joke just youtube tsunami toowoomba. This happened without warning, lives were lost. People driving down town did get washed away and were killed. We’ve had floods before but no one could’ve ever imagined what was comming. I’m getting to the point ! This happened early afternoon, and by that same time the next day- milk was GONE, bread was GONE, water was GONE- I remember going to the shops early that morning and being in complete shock that alot of the shelves were empty. Canned goods also disappeared quickly. It can happen anywhere, at anytime! And if you think because of your geographical location that you’re safe from these life changing events- you’re NUTS! Preppers are helping people become aware that you’re not always safe. Is it really going to hurt to be a little prepared? No. But it’ll hurt not being prepared.

I just read your comment and I totally agree! at first, I was against prepping but NOW I definitely see the value in simply … being prepared. I am new to this so I don’t really know where to begin. I currently rent a condo and space is limited. My home won’t be finished until Spring of 2014. Therefore, I’m hesitant about prepping since I don’t have any space. What do you recommend for now? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
