The Federal Reserve wants to know what you are saying about it. In fact, the Federal Reserve has announced plans to identify "key bloggers" and to monitor "billions of conversations" about the Fed on Facebook, Twitter, forums and blogs. This is yet another sign that the alternative media is having a dramatic impact. As first reported on Zero Hedge, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has issued a "Request for Proposal" to suppliers who may be interested in participating in the development of a "Sentiment Analysis And Social Media Monitoring Solution". In other words, the Federal Reserve wants to develop a highly sophisticated system that will gather everything that you and I say about the Federal Reserve on the Internet and that will analyze what our feelings about the Fed are. Obviously, any "positive" feelings about the Fed would not be a problem. What they really want to do is to gather information on everyone that views the Federal Reserve negatively. It is unclear how they plan to use this information once they have it, but considering how many alternative media sources have been shut down lately, this is obviously a very troubling sign.
You can read this "Request for Proposal" right here. Posted below are some of the key quotes from the document (in bold) with some of my own commentary in between the quotes....
"The intent is to establish a fair and equitable partnership with a market leader who will who gather data from various social media outlets and news sources and provide applicable reporting to FRBNY. This Request for Proposal ("RFP") was created in an effort to support FRBNY's Social Media Listening Platforms initiative."
A system like this is not cheap. Apparently the Federal Reserve Bank of New York believes that gathering all of this information is very important. In recent years, criticism of the Federal Reserve has become very intense, and most of this criticism has been coming from the Internet. It has gotten to the point where the Federal Reserve Bank of New York has decided that it had better listen to what is being said and find out who is saying it.
"Social media listening platforms are solutions that gather data from various social media outlets and news sources. They monitor billions of conversations and generate text analytics based on predefined criteria. They can also determine the sentiment of a speaker or writer with respect to some topic or document."
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York intends to listen in on "billions of conversations" and to actually determine the "sentiment" of those that are participating in those conversations.
Of course it will be those conversations that are "negative" about the Federal Reserve that will be setting off the alarm bells.

Uh oh. So they plan to "identify" key bloggers and influencers?
What exactly do they plan to do once they "identify" them?
"The solution must be able to gather data from the primary social media platforms –Facebook, Twitter, Blogs, Forums and YouTube."
Hopefully you understand this already, but nothing posted on the Internet is ever anonymous. Everything on the Internet is gathered by a vast host of organizations and is used for a wide variety of purposes. Data mining has become a billion dollar industry, and it is only going to keep growing.
You may think that you are "anonymous" when you criticize organizations like the Fed, but the truth is that if you are loud enough they will see it and they will make a record of it.
"The solution must provide real-time monitoring of relevant conversations. It should provide sentiment analysis (positive, negative or neutral) around key conversational topics."
Why do they need to perform "sentiment analysis"?
If someone is identified as being overly "negative" about the Fed, what will they do about it?
"The solution should provide an alerting mechanism that automatically sends out reports or notifications based a predefined trigger."
This sounds very much like the kind of "keyword" intelligence gathering systems that are currently in use by major governments around the globe.
Very, very creepy stuff.

Unfortunately, this is all part of a very disturbing trend.
Recently, a very creepy website known as "Attack Watch" was launched to gather information on those saying "negative" things about Barack Obama.
Suddenly, everyone seems obsessed with what you and I are saying.
This just shows how the power of the alternative media is growing.
Not only that, but it seems as though the government also wants to gather as much information on all of us as possible.
For example, a new rule is being proposed by the Department of Health and Human Services that would force health insurance companies to submit detailed health care information about all of their customers to the federal government.
Every single day our privacy is being stripped away a little bit more.
But now it is often not just enough for them to know what we are doing and saying. Instead, the "authorities" are increasingly stepping in to silence important voices.
One of the most recent examples of this was when Activistpost was taken down by Google. We are still awaiting word on why this was done.
Sadly, the silencing of Activistpost is far from an isolated incident.
Hordes of YouTube accounts have been shut down for their political viewpoints.
Quite a few very prominent alternative media websites have been censored or attacked because of what they stand for.
So why is this happening? Well, it turns out that the power of the alternative media is growing. According to a new survey by the Pew Research Center for The People & The Press, 43 percent of Americans say that they get their news on national and international issues from the Internet. Back in 1999, that figure was sitting at just 6 percent.
The American people are sick and tired of getting "canned news", and they are increasingly turning to the Internet in a search for the truth.
As I have written about previously, the mainstream media in this country is overwhelmingly dominated by just 6 very powerful corporations....
Today, ownership of the news media has been concentrated in the hands of just six incredibly powerful media corporations. These corporate behemoths control most of what we watch, hear and read every single day. They own television networks, cable channels, movie studios, newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, music labels and even many of our favorite websites. Sadly, most Americans don't even stop to think about who is feeding them the endless hours of news and entertainment that they constantly ingest. Most Americans don't really seem to care about who owns the media. But they should. The truth is that each of us is deeply influenced by the messages that are constantly being pounded into our heads by the mainstream media. The average American watches 153 hours of television a month. In fact, most Americans begin to feel physically uncomfortable if they go too long without watching or listening to something. Sadly, most Americans have become absolutely addicted to news and entertainment and the ownership of all that news and entertainment that we crave is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands each year.
The "news" that we get from various mainstream sources seems to always be so similar. It is as if nearly all mainstream news organizations are reading from the same script. The American people know that they are not getting the whole truth and they have been increasingly looking to alternative sources.
The monopoly over the news that the mainstream media once possessed has been broken. The alternative media is now creating some huge problems for organizations that were once very closely protected by the mainstream media.
The American people are starting to wake up and they are starting to get very upset about a lot of the corruption that has been going on in our society.
But it turns out that the "authorities" don't like it too much when Americans try to actually exercise free speech in America today. For example, you can see recent video of female protesters in New York City being penned in by police and then brutally maced right here.
Are you sickened by that?
You should be.
What the "authorities" want is for us to shut up, sit in our homes and act as if nothing wrong is happening.
Meanwhile, they seem determined to watch us more closely than ever.

To echo the sentiments of several posters here, I wouldn’t waste a lot of energy worrying about this, or any other federally-funded snooping program. The fact is that these assclowns can “monitor” whatever and whoever they want, but it doesn’t matter. The tide of public opinion is so overwhelmingly against them that once TSHTF, there’s going to be no one left to do their dirty work for them.

What else blows my mind is that friends and family tell me flat out that they don’t want to hear it because there’s nothing they can do and they have enough to worry about already! I do not understand this response at all. They will someday show up on my almost- paid-for, hobby-farm doorstep looking for something to eat, and I will feed them while attempting to resist shouting ” I TOLD YOU SO”, into their faces.

Okay, I am not into conspiracies generally, BUT yesterday I was not able to get to the site for about 2 hours. Every time I clicked on the link I always use to Economic Collapse Blog, it steered me straight to Google.

It was yesterday morning for about 2 hours. I have this blog in my bookmarks, and have clicked on it for over a year and never had a problem. Then just to make sure I googled your blog and tried to click on your web site from the google page and the same thing happened–it sent me to a strange google page–not the normal google page. It was all blank except for the big google logo at the top.
Did anyone else have this problem? Hope they aren’t “watching” me. LOL
Does anyone know how this could have happened?

I notice that ZeroHedge (http://178.209.48.14) has its server in Europe, perhaps Europe is somewhat safer than USSA nowadays. Well, ever have a full, updated redundant backup and place in a secure location because when the beasts do attack, they will confiscate everything!! If an online mirror with server located in other continent can be afforded, it will also give some additional insurance.

How come I can’t find this document on the feds’ website? And, how come it’s not in the format of other RFPs? And, why the child-like typos? Is there a link to the actual document coming from the fed and not “as reported by” scribd? Any help? A search for “event 6994″ returns “no results.”
Add to that, regardless of the typos and there are many, also grammatical errors, the substance of the request is severely lacking and looks like it has been taken from another document for a much simpler software program. The Sheeple are still clueless on most matters surrounding the current dire status of the world, but there’s no doubt more people have waken up in the last year from alternative media. It still has a ways to go, but the Fed (and other private, international banking cartels) realize the importance of nipping it at the bud. Hence, they are promoting this so when it hits the fan, alternative forms of media will already be suppressed to a manageable degree.

This site will eventually get taken down in the next year or two. It is the main site to display when searching “economic collapse” on all search engines. For alternative media to pop up first, this surprised and pleased me. I guarantee a lot of “interesting” characters read this blog to see how smart we are getting. They are concerned and will shut you down eventually, Michael. The web traffic on this site is high if it is listed first on google general. I would get backup plans for servers and web registrations to reboot if something like that happens. They already have your IP address and location. It isn’t that hard to get for them. If you get suspicious on activities, I would also recommend getting one or two moderators (people or forum goers) you know well so posts can be activated if you are gone, so we can all communicate with each other. This is a powerful source and we don’t want it tampered with when the SHTF.
I’m not kidding nor exaggerating. We will be seeing dreadful waves coming in October and another one this winter.
I am against the Fed Reserve as much as anyone, and I believe there are a lot of cover-ups. And yes this was a good article… but did anyone take a close look at the RFP? I don’t know why but it doesn’t seem like a bonafide document to me. The language is simple, there are tons of spelling mistakes, the questions are repeated in different ways, check question E7… “How will the Proposed Solution measure success?” That is not the type of question a large organization planning something so huge, would ask. Most of the questions have barely anything to do with such a program.

Look at Fed Reserve Bank of Newyork site. It is there. Not on main Fed site. They probably did not want to publicize it.
I couldn’t find it there. What I did find were many RFPs that looked nothing like the doc the article links us to.
I had a link that took me directly to it. Found it through Google search “Federal Reserve Spying”. The FED has already confirmed the story and commented on it on CNBC. They claim it is not for evil purposes but whatever.
My version of Google, when I search on your parameters, shows every article leading back to the original source, which was zerohedge. ZH points to the same suspicious looking RFP. Still no link to the FR. Can you provide evidence that they’ve confirmed the story and commented on CNBC?

That CNBC confirmation just goes right back to the original article with its suspect RFP. It’s just a big cirlce with still only one source – Zerohedge and this document that doesn’t look authentic when closely examined. So there still is no source. Just CNBC confirming that they read this article and Zerohedge’s.

Each ID on meetup is limited to posting in three meetups per
day. But there is no limit on the number Yahoo IDs that a
person can have.
This appears to be the operating procedure:
1. Hundreds of Yahoo IDs were created, with regional
designations. The sum of all of these Yahoo IDs covers the
entire United States.
2. A meetup profile was created for each Yahoo ID. Each Yahoo
ID was used to subscribe to a different assortment of meetups.
So far, I have not yet found one of these profiles that does
not claim a location, that is in the same town with a military
base.
3. The system was launched, and tested, by posting a very
harmless message. In most meetups this was a message promoting
the rally in Greenville, SC on May 5. 2011, and then a Ron Paul
money bomb. The Ron Paul campaign is investigating this.
Campaign for liberty knows nothing about it.
I think that we should email these “people” and ask them to
give us a call on the phone. If we do get a call we should
collect data including an alleged address and telephone number.

JOINED NEARLY EVERY PATRIOT MEETUP, WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS.
This is a fact finding query.

Lately there has been a new comer in practically every patriot
meetup, and these new comers have a similarity in their email
addresses.

In general, each individual will have joined all of the patriot
meetups in the territory designated in their email address.
This has usually been done in the last few weeks

It looks as though they have a way to take over inactive
profiles and change the email address. Many of the profiles are
old, but the new email address is not found in the old posts.

In response to the numerous requests for a description of how I see things playing out, I submit the following:
1. First comes the silver and gold COMEX price suppression. In spite-of diminishing inventories in both metals, futures contracts and put options will continue to be manufactured against the markets. The goal is to keep the sheeple away from anything with real value during the plundering process. This will create a very real shortage of silver and gold as smart investors buy the metals at a deep discount.
2. The Stock Market Crash comes first. Trillions of wealth will transfer hands as shorts against the S&P and other Indexes will continue to escalate. Insurance companies, banks, Mutual Funds, ETFs and other institutional investors will dump their holdings on command. Stock prices will go down, while Index Options capture all of the transferred wealth.
3. Near the end of the market collapse the Federal Reserve will begin a series of interest rate hikes to trash all existing debt with a fixed interest rate. This will decimate the bond market. By the way, you can also buy Short Options against bonds and Call Options on Interest rates. More wealth transferred from the poor suckers that actually trust these people!
The U.S. Justice Department’s—recently proposed forcing without warrants, all Electronic Communication Companies to retain permanently, user phone call records and Internet activity data. That would effectively trash the Fourth Amendment.
EXPECT MORE POLICE CORRUPTION WITH NO-WARRANT SEARCHES
U.S. Government wants the power without a warrant, to introduce as evidence in criminal prosecutions and government civil trials, any phone call record, email or Internet activity. Alarmingly, that would open the door for Police to take out of context, any innocent—hastily written email, fax or phone call record to allege a crime or violation was committed to cause a person’s arrest, fines and or civil asset forfeiture of their property. There are more than 350 laws and violations that can subject property to government asset forfeiture: Government civil asset forfeiture requires only a civil preponderance of evidence for police to forfeit property, little more than hearsay.
If the Justice Department has its way, any information the FBI derives from (no warrant) acquisition of Web Server Records; User Internet Activity, emails; and phone records, can be used by the FBI for (fishing expeditions) to issue subpoenas in hopes of finding evidence, to prosecute Citizens for any alleged crime or violation—circumventing the Fourth Amendment. Consider: neither Congress nor the courts—determined what NSA electronic surveillance, perhaps illegal under Bush II, could be used by police or introduced into court by government to prosecute U.S. Citizens criminally or civilly. If U.S. Justice Department is permitted (No-warrant) surveillance of all electronic communications, it is problematic state and local law enforcement agencies and private government contractors will want access to prior Bush II /NSA and other government (retained electronic records) of Internet activity; emails and phone call information to secure evidence to arrest Americans and or civilly forfeit their homes, businesses and other assets under Title 18USC and other laws. Of obvious concern, what happens to fair justice in America if police become dependent on “Asset Forfeiture” to help pay their salaries and budget operating costs?
The “Civil Asset Forfeiture Reform Act of 2000” (effectively eliminated) the “five year statue of limitations” for Government Civil Asset Forfeiture: the statute now runs five years (from the date) police allege they “learned” an asset became subject to forfeiture. It is foreseeable should (no warrant electronic surveillance) be approved; police will relentlessly sift through Citizen and businesses’ (government stored Internet data), emails and phone communications to discover alleged crimes or civil violations. A corrupt/despot U.S. Government may too easily use no-warrant- (seized emails, Internet data and phone call information) to blackmail Americans, corporations and others in the same manner Hitler utilized his earlier passed police state laws to later extort members of parliament, corporations and the wealthy to support passage of Hitler’s 1933 Discriminatory Decrees that suspended the Constitutional Freedoms of German Citizens. A Nazi Government threat of Civil Asset Forfeiture of an individual or corporation’s assets was usually sufficient to ensure Nazi support.
Under U.S. federal civil forfeiture laws, a person or business need not be charged with a crime for government to forfeit their property. Most U.S. Citizens, property and business owners that defend their assets against Government Civil Asset Forfeiture claim an “innocent owner defense.” This defense can become a “Catch 22” a criminal prosecution trap for both guilty and innocent property owners. Any fresh denial of guilt made to government when questioned about committing a crime “even when you did not do the crime” may “involuntarily waive” a defendant’s right to assert in their defense—the “Criminal Statute of Limitations” past for prosecution; any fresh denial of guilt even 30 years after a crime was committed may allow Government prosecutors to use old and new evidence, including information discovered during a Civil Asset Forfeiture Proceeding to launch a criminal prosecution. For that reason many innocent Americans, property and business owners are reluctant to defend their property and businesses against Government Civil Asset Forfeiture.

Every American should have, and read, a copy of the US Constitution. The Federal Reserve is clearly unconstitutional, as the powers of the FED are given to the US Congress by the Constitution. One must ask WHY the FED has been in exixtence since 1913. The answer is that, for almost 100 years, the Congress is just a gathering of cowards and fools. You get what you vote for……..
