The Tornadoes Of 2011: The Worst Natural Disaster In The United States Since Hurricane Katrina

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

The worst natural disaster in the United States since Hurricane Katrina just happened, and many in the mainstream media are already treating it like back page news.  It can be really tempting to want to talk about whatever the next “news cycle” brings us, but right now we really need to pray for those affected by “the tornadoes of 2011”.  There are parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia that will never, ever be the same again.  Entire towns have been wiped off the map.  Hundreds are dead and thousands have been seriously injured.  Over a million people lost power.  One of the tornadoes that ripped through the region was reported to be a mile wide.  How in the world are you supposed to get away from something like that once it is on top of you?  Many in the mainstream media have already acknowledged that this was the worst natural disaster in the U.S. since Hurricane Katrina took 1,800 lives back in 2005.  Over and over and over, those living in the region are describing the devastation by saying that they have “never seen anything like it”.  This truly was one for the history books.

The F5 tornado that ripped through the Tuscaloosa, Alabama area was reportedly so monstrous that it is still kind of difficult to believe that it was actually real.  The thing was a mile wide and scientists are estimating that it had winds that exceeded 260 miles an hour.

According to National Geographic, this monster tornado may have traveled a whopping 300 miles across Alabama and Georgia.

Can you even imagine the kind of devastation that we are talking about?

It is hard to even conceive of how much damage a mile-wide F5 tornado with winds of up to 260 MPH would do as it traveled across 300 miles.

Dozens are dead and close to a thousand people are injured in the city of Tuscaloosa alone.

At this point, the city looks like a war zone.  In fact, Tuscaloosa mayor Walter Maddox says that his city has been “obliterated”.

A stunned Maddox was quoted by The Telegraph as saying the following about the devastation….

“I don’t know how anyone survived,” said Mr Maddox. “It’s an amazing scene.

A state of emergency has been declared in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

But this disaster will not be “cleaned up” in a few days or a few weeks.

This was literally a history changing event for millions of people.

The last time the death toll from a tornado outbreak was this high was back in March 1932.

If you have the time, try to watch some videos of the devastation caused by these tornadoes.  It is incredibly difficult to try to do the damage caused by these tornadoes justice using only words.

The following is how an article posted on USA Today describes the devastation in the town of Smithville, Mississippi….

Powerful tornadoes swept through this northeastern Mississippi hamlet and across much of the South on Wednesday, splintering homes, shearing roofs and destroying lives. Smithville’s Town Hall was destroyed, as were the local high school, four churches and each of the town’s 14 businesses. Mattresses hung from tree branches, cars were flattened as if stepped on by giant feet, and rows of three-story pine trees snapped in half.

Do you think that Smithville will ever be the same?

Yes, the tornadoes of 2011 will be remembered for a very, very long time.

The people living in these areas deserve our prayers.

Thousands of lives have been permanently altered forever.  The following is just one example that CNN reported on….

Janet Puckett stands outside what’s left of her home on 30th Avenue in Alberta. Its walls crumbled under the force of the storm. Her living room and a front bedroom disappeared. The roof of the house got sucked up, too.

“A war zone,” she says of the mountains of broken 2-by-4s and other debris all around.

How would you feel if your roof and half your house were suddenly missing?

Would you rebuild?

Would you feel safe living in the same area?

Would your life ever be the same again?

Sadly, massive tornado outbreaks seem to be happening with increasing frequency in the South.

Back on April 16th, a similar wave of very violent thunderstorms spawned approximately 140 tornadoes.  During that event, 22 people were killed in the state of North Carolina.

Overall, there have been approximately 600 tornadoes in the United States during April.  That is the most tornadoes that have ever been recorded in a single month.

Usually, the U.S. only experiences about 1,200 tornadoes for the entire year.  So what we are seeing right now is highly unusual.

The tornadoes that just ripped through the South also had a massive impact on the economy down there.

It has been estimated that up to 25 percent of all of the poultry houses in Alabama were either significantly damaged or destroyed.  It is also believed that millions of birds were killed.

Alabama produces more chicken than anywhere else in the United States except for Georgia and Arkansas.

So get ready to pay more for chicken.

Meanwhile, many key agricultural areas of Texas are experiencing their worst drought in decades.  According to CNBC, climate experts are becoming extremely concerned about the lack of rainfall….

Data issued Thursday by a consortium of national climate experts said 95 percent of Texas was suffering “severe drought,” or worse, up from 92 percent a week earlier. More than 70 percent of the state was in the worse conditions of “extreme drought” or “exceptional drought.” That is up from 68 percent a week ago in extreme and exceptional drought.

Not only that, some areas along the Mississippi River are having to deal with “historic flooding” right now.  The following is from a recent article on….

As if tornadoes and damaging thunderstorms were not enough, historic flooding is also threatening the Mississippi River, below St. Louis, as well as the lower part of the Ohio River.

The rising waters are expected to top levels set during February 1937. This mark is the middle Mississippi Valley’s equivalent to the 1993 event farther north along Old Man River.

Things are really crazy out there right now.

Please pray for those that lost family and friends during these recent tornadoes.  There are thousands upon thousands of good people down in the South that are really hurting right now.  They could really use our prayers.

As I have written about previously, our world is seemingly going crazy right now and nothing is stable anymore.  The earth is shaking, natural disasters are becoming worse, the economy is falling apart and America appears to be coming apart at the seams.

Unfortunately, I believe that things are going to become even more unstable in the months and years ahead.

So what do all of you believe?  Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion below….

I offer to your attention a film about six priorities of the generalized instruments of management by countries and people of Earth.
    Six Principles of Global Manipulation

  • Mario

You have to be blind not to see that God is tapping America on the shoulder and saying do you remember Me I’m the God that you thru out of the schools, courts, out of your lives. How long will you go on ignoring Me. Time is short.
Read Gods word in the Bible, when his people turned and rebelled aginst Him He judged them.
Have we not rebelled against God? Then we should expect His judgement. The only way to avoid it is to humble our selves before Him and seek his forgiveness.

  • Johnson

The devastation is mind-boggling! And the news said that many of these people did not have insurance. I find that hard to believe. Not having insurance in tornado alley seems a bit foolish.

We hear about earthquakes and floods elsewhere in the world but never tornado’s. Why not? Are tornado’s a USA only event?

“Alabama produces more chicken than anywhere else in the United States except for Georgia and Arkansas.

So get ready to pay more for chicken.”

But this won’t matter to the government since food is not included in their “core” inflation statistics.

Much of the weather changes are due to global warming and a warming Earth.

Or maybe the end times really are coming (due this May 21st). See: [lol]

  • michelle

all this was predicted in the web bot reports, and it’s going to get worse if you believe them…

I do. I am very concerned. Silver will do very well, but get your food stored now since it’s looking like crops are not going to do well, for some time.

  • WM

Another great report. Perhaps Biblical prophesies and the “birth pains” that Jesus spoke about are finally starting to unravel before our eyes. Some view it as a judgement from God to try to wake this lost nation up onto repentance from our evil ways and turn back to the Lord. This can also be viewed as an inevitable phase of moving closer to the New World Order and the one world government. Its amazing how much and fast America has changed in the last 10 years alone! Globalism is destroying us, but again, keep in mind, the Bible prophecied that there would be a one world system, so America has to dethroned. I think God is trying to wake us up. But, sadly, it looks like it is going to take a lot more, as our society in general has turned our backs on ther things of God, and decency, morality, etc. Corruption has reared its ugly head in every aspect of our society, respect and morality and even patriotism is almost absent from our society. Yet, most people just keep there heads in the sand hoping that things will get better. I agree with this site, I think much worse times are ahead for this nation. People, please take a look at the Bible…our culture wants to attack it, and shut it up, but it has a lot to say about life on planet earth in these “last days”. God is trying to get our attention and to get us to return to him…we would do well to heed his Word.

  • Hello,

What is interesting is that a friend of mine foresaw this.

Perhaps it was two months ago that we were communicating over Skype.

He has been following global weather patterns and the geographical crisis reflecting global inflation crisis.

He said, “Don’t be surprised if you see something major happen in the United States soon.”

Interestingly, something major has happened in the United States.

Could not agree with you more. People better drop their normalcy bias and realize that the America (and the planet) we grew up with is gone. The acceleration and intensity of change is unprecedented. If you continue to get your news from the mainstream media, instead of doing your own homework (which is not very hard to do now), you will be lulled to sleep thinking that everything is fine.

  • michel

I have been religious for all my life, and I see all the prophesies come true right now,I believe we are living in the apocalypse right now so its gonna be an exciting next couple of years.
Even if you don’t believe in anything, several people I know, even start to worry the world is heading for a nasty future.
Still,a lot of people don’t want to know it and refuse to think about it or want to be confronted with it.
As an example; our office is hit hard by the bad economic conditions and our team was worried saying that if this would go on there had to be made some serious cuts and possible lay-offs. I commented that that was exactly wat would happen soon if things would not improve and it could even mean the closure of our business.
I was fired the next day for demotivating the team.Last year I was the top salesman…
Let alone if I for instance send the management a link to this site…
People just are affraid for the truth.

I believe Mother Earth is actively getting rid of her pest infestation in order to heal herself. Think about all the damage we have done to Earth, our only home, due to greed, unsustainable growth, and so-call civilization. We deserve to be exterminated. We are a sorry species.

‘Once more in a little while, I am going to shake the heavens and the earth, the sea also and the dry land. 7‘I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory,’ says the LORD of hosts. 8‘The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine,’ declares the LORD of hosts. 9‘The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘and in this place I will give peace,’ declares the LORD of hosts.” Haggai 2:6-9

  • Steve

I warn people every day but my texts and emails go unreturned.

That’s ok. My conscience is clear.

Alabama and MS will not recover.

Clean drinking water, toilet paper, guns and ammo will be like gold.

As soon as Thanksgiving is my prediction!

  • I question if they are realy natural disasters.

  • JD

We got eight inches of snow here in Mt. This spring has turned out to be crazy. Im grateful for the moisture because weve had 6 yrs of drought and warm winters that have let pine beetles destroy our trees. So there basically standing matchsticks ready to burn our town out. It almost happened in 2000. Helena was a smokefilled hellhole for a month and a half. The are disasters lurking in America ready to pop. My prediction is that the west coast will experience an earthquake on a massive scale. More likely the Cascaida Subduction zone off the WA & OR coasts. I lived out there for a yr I still remember the tsunumai warning signs. I shouldnt hold my breath here either Yellowstone is only 185 miles away. We would be a modern day Pompeii if God forbid that happened. I think anything can happen thesedays. Not quite a 2012 believer but hey what can you say when its staring you in the face? This is not the end this is just the begining.

  • As a former nurse that has volunteered my skills during disasters and also with the homeless of our gang ridden streets, I believe it is time for America to turn off the TV and do some research of your own.

Weather manipulation of various kinds these days, in the form of HAARP and even from aerial drones, is used to excite the atmosphere where storms are prone to occur. Or, as in the form of chemtrails, engineered to ensure no rain shall fall for months on end, creating areas of drought.

This is not bible prophecy–God would not want to do this to his children. It is the act of a satanic global elite criminal government with a eugenics mindset of Agenda21 in their grand scheme.

Now I have stated your problem and there is plenty of research to back up my claim.
What is the solution you ask?

It is time for us to get down right angry about weather manipulation, for it is not intended to bring needed rain to a dry land or turn tornadoes or hurricanes away to save humanity.

I will leave you with the words of Alex Jones.
“The only cure for 1984 is 1776.”

  • Michael

    Screw you, Mario.

  • Great article as always!!1 My heart goes out to the thousands of families that have been totally wiped out and lost loved ones in the tornado’s.
If you want to learn about just what happened to these people in this ongoing disasters and continuing disasters, Google the word: HAARP – High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program – It’s a weapon of unbelievable destruction!!! Evil men will be held accountable for all these disasters they have causes!!!!

  • Thomas, your right on the money with your answer!!
HAARP will be continued to be used to flood thousands of acres in the South and Midwest, so crops will not be able to grow!!! They are getting ready to dose-up the current fault-line running down the Ohio-Mississippi river!!! A lot of information is beginning to surface on this!!! Get prepared today!!!

  • JackieR your so right, these are man-made disasters and can be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt!!!

  • Gary2

If you live in tornado alley or close to it there is going to be tornadoes. If you live on the east coast there will be hurricanes. If you live in CA there will be earthquakes. If you live in WI winter is brutal (this I know from personal experience) and you have to be embarrassed by Paul Ryan and Gov walker.(Oops off the topic). If you live by the Mississippi river there will be years with terrible flooding.

Every so often there will be large tornado outbreaks or a cat 5-6 hurricane or a 9.0 earthquake. It is simply science and there is no supernatural cosmic force involved. How about all the years when there was very little of the above?

I do not say this to be insensitive to the victims, however, simply to bring perspective.

How about the GOP plans to cut funding to the NOAA and give the rich another tax cut? Gotta love these dolts.

  • Joemyster

Come one people, enough with the ‘God is punishing us’ propaganda. The bible clearly says, ‘with evil (or bad) things God does not try (or commit) towards anyone. Try putting ‘Haarp’ in the Google search engine. There is a scientific, yet at the same time biblical explanation for all this. In a word, ‘Weather Manipulation’. In another Masonic word ‘Order out of Chaos’. Just do a little research and all will be clear.

  • sonnyboy

If this event had taken place in New York or Los Angeles, it would still be front page news. Since it took place mostly in rural America, it is not deemed to be “important” (sarcasm).

  • James

As Global warming continues, it will provide these storms with the energy to get worst. The planet is getting warmer and disrupting the “normal” flow of upper atmospheric currents. This disruption is also fueling the storms to make them more intense. We had our chance 10-15 years ago to remedy this situation, but now it may be too late.

  • Tatiana Covington

Nonsense! Tornadoes are nothing more than spinning vortices of air caused by colliding cold and warm fronts.

Physics always explains everything, because everything is physical.

    There is no god.

  • As I hear of the terrible calamities that from week to week are taking place, I ask myself: What do these things mean? The most awful disasters are following one another in quick succession. How frequently we hear of earthquakes and tornadoes, of destruction by fire and flood, with great loss of life and property! Apparently these calamities are capricious outbreaks of seemingly disorganized, unregulated forces, but in them God’s purpose may be read. They are one of the means by which He seeks to arouse men and women to a sense of their danger. {CCh 355.4}

    The coming of Christ is nearer than when we first believed. The great controversy is nearing its end. The judgments of God are in the land. They speak in solemn warning, saying: “Be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Matthew 24:44. {CCh 356.1}

  • J2201987

I believe in what the Bible says about weather in the end times.

Humanity (as a whole) as caused so much pain for the Earth and all it’s inhabitants. Polluting the air, freshwater, seas and oceans, killing off wildlife and exotic plants. We’ve (collectively) turned on the Earth. Not it’s finally turning BACK on us.

  • mondobeyondo

I beg to differ. There is a God.

There is a higher power and intelligence greater than us, that is at work.

For all our knowledge and scientific success, we can’t even create an amoeba in a lab dish. Humans can modify, alter and change food crops and microbes. But we can’t create a microbe.

  • Obama said,”We can’t control when or where a terrible storm may strike, but we can control how we respond to it.” I think this is BS and HAARP was used.

  • Terry

I am not devoutly Catholic, but believe in a higher intelligence than us. It is depressing to think that we are as good as it gets. I do find it hard to believe that the world around us is the result of pure accident.
The climate is constantly changing. My wife’s Explorer did not cause this.
This is really Bush’s fault. While being such an incompitent idiot, he has gotten a lot accomplished. I think he orchestrated the football lockout and the end of Oprah’s show as well. Watch your back, American Idol.

  • Any one who believes that humans have the power to control the weather and create tornadoes or earthquakes probably believes in UFOs. You’ve been duped. Get a clue, then get a gun.

  • karen

Folks I live in the south, not to far from Alabama, let me just put a few words out and you can investigate them, keep reading until you find the truth. Look-up chemtrails, HAARP, Weather Modification, I will not go into these subjects, you have to find out, would take-up most of this page, and you were lied to about Katrina, over 50,000 people died in that storm, they lie about the amount of deaths and destruction unless you live there and see for yourself.

  • JC

Everyone just NEEDS to trust Jesus, man!… Just develop a relationship with Him & Trust Him – cuz things will keep rolling downhill, but He is our provider and our sustainer and if u can’t get with that u really need too bcuz without Him we all got nothing 🙂 Much love

    HAARP did it
Most developed nations have some form of weather modification technology, and they have been messing with the weather since the 60’s
Then the scientists try to blame it on carbon footprints by the everyday poor slob who has to dredge to work make a servants wage to run the economy for the Elite!
    screw them!
turn on all your lights, turn on the air conditioning, your TV, your computers, and run your cars!!

I live in Ringgold, Georgia about a mile from where the F-4 tornado touched down and then went on in to Tennessee. Thankfully no damage at my house. Just wanted to say that we have been having a strange year weather wise leading up to this around the immediate area. On any given day the sky is crossed with numerous chem-trails in all directions. These trails are lower in altitude than a normal con-trail and they cause the sky to become overcast. I was an aircraft mechanic in the USAF and no one will convince me that these trails are normal. Most don’t know that Bush signed into law H.R. 2995 the Weather Modification Act of 2005 making it legal to seed the clouds in the U.S. Here is the link on the .gov site Hope all will take a minute and read the bill so you will understand that we may very well be the victims of a weather experiment gone a rye or did it?

  • I’d rather go to Oz than live amongst the rabble. Screw it.

    Dear Michael (administrator),
I live in AL not too far from Tuscaloosa. Our most recent reports indicate that one of the largest tornadoes traveled 85 miles. The storm that created the tornado traveled 300 + miles into NC, but not the tornado itself. This tornado has been confirmed to have been 1 mile wide.
The damage is unbelievable. You have see it first hand to really be able to comprehend it. Our state genuinely needs the nation’s prayers, support, and encouragement.
I would like to let you know that the local news coverage has been outstanding. You simply would never believe (because the national networks would not air it) how many people have given glory to God in the midst of such crisis and disaster. Folks have openly talked of prayer and faith and trust and mercy and grace and comfort. I have wept and laughed and wept some more as I have listened to stories on the radio (my power has been out for many days). There really is a foundation of faith here in AL that seems unshakable—even in the face of a catastrophe of this magnitude.
Tuscaloosa has received much national coverage, but please remember that there are multitudes of tiny rural communities that you have never even heard the names of who desperately need your prayers. There are parents who no longer have children and children who no longer have parents—unimaginable shock and grief. There is one family close to my own community where the father died when the house collapsed upon him, his wife, and their 13 children.
Please, please pray for the precious families in our state.

    • Michael

Thank you for sharing that with us.

The people in that region definitely could use our prayers.

  • JD

Wow Gary2 i agree with you. I mean cmon HAARP hasnt created all the tornadoes in history. People that believe that shit have way too much time on their hands. Worry about the real dangers like the govt. having Halliburton make detention camps.

  • JD

Speaking of which Michael have you heard anything more about the govt detention camps? I first heard of it from a guest on Coast to Coast radio. The same guest also was talking about how the govt is planning to tax bullets so high that only the super rich can affford ammunition. Oh and the firing pins in new bullets will disolve in two years. I dont know if theres any truth to these claims but if anyone can uncover it its you my friend.

  • hey i live in nc, we dont usually see tornados here, its because the mountians usually break heavy storm sytems up as they cross, ill tellu for sure at 5 am that morning we had micro down bursts of 80+ and nws issues dangeous conditions advisory for the 1st time in 14 years .. very powerful storms unlike anyting in my lifetime here in nc ..really a rare occurence

  • Paul

Hong Kong survives every year several hurricanes easily, and even with “Katrina” coming in now and then, there is still not much of a scratch.

Stop building those matchstick houses. The look nice right after they are finished and they are dirt cheap but they are useless for protection against the elements.

On te other hand – if they were as cheap as everybody claims, where did the housing crisis come from?

And well, get some more hedges in between those wheat plains.

Trees, and hedges and forests disturb wind patterns near the ground that might lead to a tornado.

All I can say is haarp was up and running during the storms in the south. Don’t be fooledby the elite that is behind these disasters. It is only gona continue to get worse. Christians wake upwe have been decived by Satan as the bible tells us!

@Johnson If these catastrophes are caused by global warming or climate change then the people affected by these tornadoes should be compensated regardless of if the have insurance or not!

There are a few organizations that believe this is the case and are trying to take governments and corporations to court. They have kinds of online registration or petition pages.

    There is

The people affected by these disasters could try registering there or contacting those organizations.
