Painful To Watch: This Is The Weakest U.S. Economic ‘Recovery’ Since 1949

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Dollar Bending - Public DomainMost of us have never witnessed an economic “recovery” this bad.  As you will see below, the average rate of economic growth since the last recession has been the lowest for any “recovery” in at least 67 years.  And unfortunately, the economy appears to be slowing down even more here in 2016.  On Friday, I talked about how the U.S. economy grew at a painfully slow rate of just 1.2 percent in the second quarter after only growing 0.8 percent during the first quarter.  And last week we also learned that the homeownership rate in the United States has dropped to the lowest level ever.  This is not what a recovery looks like.  Instead, it very much appears that a new economic downturn has already begun.

But don’t just take my word for how painful this economic “recovery” has been.  The following comes from a Wall Street Journal article that was just posted entitled “Seven Years Later, Recovery Remains the Weakest of the Post-World War II Era“…

Even seven years after the recession ended, the current stretch of economic gains has yielded less growth than much shorter business cycles.

In terms of average annual growth, the pace of this expansion has been by far the weakest of any since 1949. (And for which we have quarterly data.) The economy has grown at a 2.1% annual rate since the U.S. recovery began in mid-2009, according to gross-domestic-product data the Commerce Department released Friday.

The prior expansion, from 2001 through 2007, was the only other business cycle of the past 11 when the economy didn’t grow at least 3% a year, on average.

This entire seven year stretch has come while Barack Obama has been in the White House.  After more than seven and a half years, he is solidly on track to be the only president in U.S. history to never have a single year when the U.S. economy grew by at least three percent.

And unlike many presidents, he has had two terms in which to try to accomplish that feat.

One of the industries that had been doing fairly well during this recovery was the auto industry, but now in early 2016 they have found themselves struggling too

Now, the auto sector, which has propped up GDP growth for years, is slowing down. For the first six months, total car and light truck sales, at a seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of 17.5 million vehicles, are lagging behind last year by 100,000 units. Over the first half, fleet sales to rent-a-car companies and big fleet buyers were up industry wide. But retail sales fell 2%.

All over the corporate world, earnings are down.

In some cases, they are way down.

It is being projected that this will be the fifth quarter in a row when corporate earnings have declined, and even mainstream analysts are now admitting that it is “evident” that we have entered “a global slowdown”

“Earnings season in the U.S. confirms the overall macro picture that we have. We have a global slowdown. It’s evident in all of the major economies,” said Peter Garnry, head of equity strategy at Saxo Bank, on a Bloomberg podcast.

Of course I have been saying this exact thing for the past 12 months, but a lot of people have tuned me out because the stock market in the United States has been doing so well.

But the stock market is not an accurate barometer for the real economy.  It never has been, and it never will be.

If stocks accurately reflected the health of the U.S. economy, they would have already crashed really hard a long time ago.  At this moment, stock prices are completely disconnected from economic reality, and this has many of the most respected names on Wall Street scratching their heads.  One of them is Jeffrey Gundlach, the chief executive of DoubleLine Capital.  Just check out what he told Reuters on Friday

Noting the recent run-up in the benchmark Standard & Poor’s 500 index while economic growth remains weak and corporate earnings are stagnant, Gundlach said stock investors have entered a “world of uber complacency.”

The S&P 500 on Friday touched an all-time high of 2,177.09, while the government reported that U.S. gross domestic product in the second quarter grew at a meager 1.2 percent rate.

“The artist Christopher Wool has a word painting, ‘Sell the house, sell the car, sell the kids.’ That’s exactly how I feel – sell everything. Nothing here looks good,” Gundlach said in a telephone interview. “The stock markets should be down massively but investors seem to have been hypnotized that nothing can go wrong.”

If you follow Gundlach, you probably already know that he has been dead on accurate with regard to the financial markets over the past couple of years.

So when he says that the stock market “should be down massively” and that it is time to “sell everything”, we should all take him very, very seriously.

All throughout history, a huge decline in corporate earnings has almost always resulted in a huge decline in stock prices.  As Jesse Felder has noted, “we have never seen a decline in earnings of this magnitude without at least a 20% fall in stock prices” during the last 50 years.

To any rational observer, it is quite obvious that stock prices should have already started collapsing quite some time ago.

And to a large extent this has already happened around the planet, but here in the United States stocks continue to defy the laws of economics.

But at this point it isn’t going to do much good to warn people about this.  Those that could see the danger coming have already pulled their money out of stocks, and most of those that want to stick their heads in the sand and pretend that things are somehow going to be different this time are not likely to be persuaded this late in the game.

In the end, we should all be grateful that this absurd financial bubble has lasted for as long as it has, because stability is much more pleasant than instability.  The U.S. economy and the U.S. financial system have enjoyed a prolonged period of stability that has defied all the odds, and let us hope that it lasts for at least a little while longer…

QE1, 2 and 3 kicked the can a bit further down the road. Even Goldman Sacs came out today and recommend investors sell over the next three months. At least gasoline is still cheap. That is all the consumer has going for them these days.

  • Bill

The fact that the stock market is so far from reality is indicative of how far and hard it will crash when reality soon hits.

    • anonymous

True. As the old adage goes, the bigger they are the harder they fall. Our debt is the biggest in the world. This is not going to end well for anyone. People who are wishing for a collapse are wishing for the beginning of the end of the world. Maybe Jesus will come sooner, we can only hope…..

            How
do atheists successfully tackle the cognitive dissonance experienced by
theists when discussing the definitions and stigma regarding concepts
            such as “evidence” and “faith”?

          • Creepy Pedro

Amen…God is with us everyday guiding us towards victory. Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.

        • JC Teecher

i just happened to see your question, CP, so I’ll give you my understanding of the seals.

The seals are what has been offered as truth of times and events as given to Christians, so they may have them “sealed” in their minds.
Sealed in their minds so as to know when they are in full effect.

As i have the understandings of what has transpired in history, and what is prophesied to transpire in the future, I believe we are in a period of “teaching, learning, and understanding”, which should cause more souls to be saved/redeemed for the Kingdom to come.

As we are fast approaching the unveiling of the final days of the Parable of the Fig Tree, which is merely following the return of Israel/God’s Fig Tree, to it’s initial covenant homeland, and that generation has a time limit on it, I can without hesitancy say that we are in the period of the “fifth” seal, trump and vile.

The next trump, the “sixth” signals the entrance of Antichrist as the leader, that will be considered as the Messiah returned, to rule the world by deception. The sixth seal is all the Holy Words that explained all that will transpire during this time period of which the sixth vile has been poured out on all humanity, and is being executed via Satan as Antichrist.
Hence, we are to count the number, 666 to fully see the change and see his entrance to earth as the spurious messiah.

There will be much confusion as the majority of Believers have accepted a pre-trib rapture mindset, and think they will escape tribulation, but it is not biblical and will cause many of them to be delusioned to the point of following Antichrist.

It has been written and is by God’s authority, that all those who claim to be Christians, but have instead followed Antichrist/Satan in order to escape tribulations, will be damned.

it is so sad that whole congregations may perish because of indoctrination by ignorant preachers, and teachers, but hey, it is God’s word and not mine.
I am just a messenger of the word, and He is Judge!

Restaurants that I use have a lot of empty tables and at busy hours. “My” Walmart is busy only in the food area. The truck stops locally do not have near the crowded parking lots I have seen in the past. Mall is not crowded on weekends. Yes, all anecdotes but how the stock market stays afloat is must be with smoke and mirrors. The real economy is in serious condition. I have even noted reduced numbers of people in doctor’s waiting rooms and rarely have to wait at a pharmacy. Something is wrong.

    • anonymous

True. The only time the grocery stores are busy is at the beginning of the month when EBT cards are reloaded. Otherwise people aren’t really spending more than they need to. I’ve noticed the same things going on. Just like me and my family. We shop for clothes at thrift stores. The only time we go to a movie is when there is a reduced price admission. Cutting back and downsizing. A lot of small businesses are closing up shop in my town, only construction is booming. I want to know, who is buying all these million dollar condos being built? I sure can’t afford one.

      • The Chinese. In Vancouver, BC housing prices have skyrocketed due to the Chinese buying everything they can regardless of price.

      • Mondobeyondo

And just where are those people getting all that “free” money to do their grocery shopping? From the government, of course. They aren’t working to earn money to buy food. So they are relying on the government, food banks, etc.

      • L. A. McDonough

When I go grocery shopping early 8-9am it’s only (retirees) it seems, but not many this early, this incl Wal Mart stores. Many order online for ex: vacuum cleaner bags, printing paper, vitamins, health foods, other health aids, even shoes. Average size houses on market sit too long in my area. Retail slow down, baby boomers downsizing, minimalist movements online blogging and books, is picking up popularity (getting rid of stuff, living simple.) Younger people don’t buy they rent, not marrying or starting families, they just hook up at parties or in bars, no commitments just addicted to cell phones. Older adults even in their 40’s, some live with parents as adults fact is I know two loser parents who allow this near me. Two couples past retirement with 40 something sons living at home. When parents die, these “kids” will be on the street as bums. Parents didn’t teach any values and work ethics.

        • sistersoldier

I have a co-worker who said that he has wealthy friends and often times they will either buy their children homes for wedding presents or the homes are inherited. He said he noticed a change in the younger generation where they will accept the homes as they are already paid for but they do not furnish them, just the basics (such as an air mattress and a microwave). When they have parties or gatherings they rent all of the necessary furnishings and then send it all back after the event is over.

And yes, they prefer to rent and are putting off having children as it requires long term commitment with legal and moral obligations. It is my humble opinion that it is easier to be loved than to be needed and this generation executes that sentiment to its fullest.

          • GSOB

No recovery! Only a fakery. Social, economic and moral decline is unstoppable but disguised and ignored. Watch for Total disaster ahead; timing uncertain. The collapse of civilization will begin when the News of God’s coming Judgment and Kingdom is announced as a testimony to
all nations; testimony = legal declaration and warning. “First there will be civil and international wars, great shaking and upheavals in different places,
pestilence and famine, mass anxiety and deception…..” Matthew 24 and Luke 21. The Kingdom of God is near but until the universal announcement (legal declaration) is made, uncertainty, confusion and guessing will continue. Those required to announce the News of coming Judgment are still asleep.

Satan has permissible power over wealth as well. He is the prince of this world which includes trades and commerce. Jesus was born into poverty, and He continued to live in poverty while on earth. Christ also felt a deep sense of compassion and had a dwelling place among the (disenfranchised) because He embraced and identified with them. He also associated with the financially oppressed people of His day. The gap between the rich and poor is the result of the wealthy gaining their fortunes by oppressing and neglecting the less fortunate people.

Christ believed in ushering in the kingdom of God as He taught that we are to place our treasuries in heaven above. He also spoke on the difficulty of the rich entering the kingdom of God as a camel going through the eye of a needle which shows that his message would be more received by the poor than the rich.

People who are consumed by their wealth or pursuit of it in all actuality believe that they are self-sustained and have their heaven right here
on earth and therefore do not need God.

        • JC Teecher

          Amen and I agree 99.9%

The .1% is with the statement that Jesus continued to live in poverty while on earth.
Poverty by today’s standards, maybe, but according to historical records and longstanding customs of passing down history according to the songs and traditions of Glastonbury, England; Jesus was spending more of His lifetime from 12 through about 30 years of age with his Uncle, Joseph of Arimathea.

Joseph was said to be a wealthy merchant and shipped tin and other products from the area around Great Britain, including his own tin mines. Legends speak of a young lad riding in the front of his ship, and, of a cottage where he and his mother often stayed.

We can only go on what has been passed down, but the Son of God was well taken care of, in my opinion. We should believe His Heavenly Father provided a fulfilling and blessed life for the short time He was on earth and for the awesome price He would soon pay for all humanity.

I guess we shall be able to find out when we are in the spirit body and can approach Him. Some are lucky enough to have Him visit them, even in this realm. I know of two that have specifically made the claim.

          • LIZ THE SHIZ

wow a rich uncle and the Holy Father !!!

          • JC Teecher

Do you know Him, or want to know Him?
He gave His life for you, and it was an awesome price He paid so we could live eternally.

          • LIZ THE SHIZ

thanks but I have already been saved along with the good news of his gospel

          • JC Teecher

            wonderful.

          • sistersoldier

Well, well Mr. Teecher or rather Mr. Teacher, I am here to collect your .1% (so that I may have a complete 100). I’m struggling with the concept of the “material” wealth of Jesus.

            I can see how someone who could perform miracles in the sight of men, and who could see money in the mouth of a fish that has yet to be caught, a Son who was entitled to all of His father’s possessions in heaven and on earth in fact He was there when the Earth was created. He along with His father owns cattle unto a thousand hills – this is true. But…… while on earth I am persuaded that Christ exemplified and lived a life of poverty. At least that is my personal conviction of how I interpret Isaiah’s description of the suffering servant and the following scriptures;

“For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for our sake He became poor. For the sake of His people that were to be redeemed He made Himself poor that we may become rich:”

“But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men.” Phi 2:7.

A very significant indicator if any that Christ died poor is that He made no will in regard to his property, for he had none to dispose of.

          • JC Teecher

The difference dear sister soldier, is that the scriptures are speaking in spiritual terms, or allegorically, and not materialistically/literally.
Christ was seen by many as poor because of being able to relate to them, but by no means does that mean he did without, which is to say “living in poverty”. I doubt he lived in the lap of luxury because of his uncle, but he never went hungry or did without anything he needed, unless it was intentional.

But, we all use our on conjecture as to how it actually played out, and isn’t worth getting upset over. We’ll just agree to disagree on this point.
God bless you for your enthusiasm.

          • sistersoldier

            With respect.

Back in His day, vacationing in the flesh, I doubt He was economically poor overall His pre ministry years.

His earthly ministry was of 3.5 years.

He lived a perfect human life and became the Author and Perfector of our faith.

He’s has been in charge and we receive from Him to be one with His purpose…., to Head up all things through the Church in Christ.
            Ephesians 1:22
And God put everything under His feet and made Him head over everything for the church,

Can’t argue with any of that, GSOB.

          • JC Teecher

I think the one thing we can take from all this discussion is that Jesus Christ of Nazareth lived among the people as a “common man” not necessarily poor acting or looking, and definitely not in poverty (lack of adequate food, shelter, clothing).

He lived as a common man, because he related to the common people and also the poor people. He was not living like royalty, nor did he like hanging around such.

      • GSOB

The core theme of dominion theology is that the Bible mandates Christians to take over and “occupy” secular institutions.

Exactly! This battle is already won! The Atonement happened; this is Christ’s world; He is coming again to rule over us – all of us; both those who are here, who came before, and who is to come. Evil has lost already; all we need to do is endure until He comes again.

Many of the largest banks are controlled by the Chews. And you have this quote:

“Give me control of a nations money supply, and I care not who makes it’s laws”. Mater Amschel Rothschild

I’ve often wonder is there is correlation here without causation. Rich people don’t have to be Chews to be a holes. It may just be whoever was the richest people by group would be hated for it.

What bothers me is the way people are labeled this way or that. And once you label someone you can kill them without any moral implications. There’s just way too much us and them mentality in the World. It would be nice if we had some counter force to all the labeling. It would be nice to have a cultural belief that encouraged seeing people as people regardless of any imagined boundaries we may think exists. Too bad there is not a pro-human-being religion accepting everyone one as having value regardless of any qualifying conditions.

The system of neoslavery in our prisons, where we keep poor men and poor women of color in cages because we have taken from them the possibility of employment, education and dignity, will be maintained whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton is president. Millions of undocumented people will be deported whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton is president. Austerity programs will cut or abolish public services, further decay the infrastructure and curtail social programs whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton is president. Money will replace the vote whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton is president. And half the country, which now lives in poverty, will remain in misery whether Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton becomes president. This is not speculation. The ironically named Affordable Care Act permanently hobbled small business owners, so is it any surprise growth is anemic? Wait until President H. Clinton continues the party by mandating paid parental leave from employers. That should also have a negligible economic impact according to ultra-liberal supporters. We should forge ahead of Sweden and enact a minimum payout to every person within the country, citizen or not. That should deliver the coup de grace! Too bad there are no longer robed men standing on street corners holding signs which read, “The End Is Nigh!” because this time they would be correct!

    • df NJ

Don’t let the facts get in the way of your delusions:

“While the Affordable Care Act mandates the responsibility for the cost of insuring full-time employees to businesses with 50 or more full-time equivalent employees, it also provides generous tax credits to smaller businesses with 25 or less full-time equivalent employees. In other words workers and small business owners tend to benefit under the new law, while larger employers (who don’t provide health insurance) have to deal with new costs.”

ACA has done really nothing to help healthcare premiums stop rising. Healthcare premiums have been rising 20% per year for over 15 years now. About every 5 years it doubles.

I will tell you what hurts small businesses the most. And that is not having customer demand. With Chinese currency manipulation all our factories have been shut down. Without factory workers, our business do not have enough middle class customers capable of buying products supporting small business.

But there is Good news! We are getting closer to the Return, and oil is dropping.

We made a trip to S. Carolina this past weekend to visit my wife’s daughter, and bought gas for $1.59 a gallon. In our neck of the woods it averages about $2.09 today. That is over a $10.00 savings on a 20 gallon fill up. Those ten dollar bills add up over a period of weeks.

The well to do liberals will tell us everything is just lovely, (especially with the economy), and they are the face of truth and love. They preach the economy has improved under Odrama and will improve even more under billery. Every time one of them speaks, I see a big purple costumed character, singing ……

    I love you
    You love me
We are one big happy (freakin’) family!

And….I also see the face of a big fat liar…but..”at this point…what does it matter”.

    • LIZ THE SHIZ

the cheap gas is a long con probably instigated by the Saudi’s and the Clinton foundation to give the illusion of helping the middle class , once America’s and Canada’s oil industry are decimated wait for the other shoe to drop with $100+ a barrel oil and Billary banking another 150 million

      • Kim

        I totally agree

    • goldminer

Cheap gas is nice. But the chickens are coming home to roost. The banksters can and have absorbed the losses from the small oil companies going broke. But they cant take the large and mid cap companies defaulting on their loans. Everybody hates big oil. But it is the fuel that runs our economy. Chevron Conoco Philips Exon Mobil all have lost money over last year. Altho Exon did show a small profit. The big 3 American oil companies combined have lost over 1.2 billion dollars just in the first half of this year. Big oil can survive the lowering oil prices by selling stock and piling up cash. Smaller and mid caps don’t have that option. Defaulting on their loans will be the only way. This can and will cause banks to go under or have Bail ins.
So enjoy the cheap gas while its here. Look out for the crash later.
As for the return, rapture or what ever you want to call it. If you are reading this post you missed it.

      • JC Teecher

I appreciate your take on the oil situation and the time it took to write. Respectfully, you are preaching to the choir. I spent years reading and writing and heard every conceivable explanation there is about oil, gas, and the industry situation as a whole.

The only thing that concerns me is the present, and i mean the present price at the pump. since most of my driving is done in my 47 mpg (average) Prius, instead of the F350 gas guzzler at 8 mpg I used to own ( and which i loved to drive and pull the Horses with in the 24 ft. camper trailer).

I can’t do anything more except maybe order an Elio which gets 84 mpg, or put the Hog back on the road (about 50mpg), so I just enjoy the cheaper gas for now.

Whatever comes will come, and we are about as prepared as we can be to go back to living like it’s 1816…in a heartbeat.

The return of Christ is definitely on the horizon and more than a probability it will happen in the next 15 to 20 years, by all the signs and wonders. it will ‘not’ come in the form of a “pre-trib” rapture either, but after the “tribulation of those days as foretold”.

        • Bill G Wilminton NC

Please Don’t Rule Out Pre-Trib…..I’m Ready To Go…..Beam Me up Scotty !

          • The narrow path

            Hmm, Pre-Trib?
Modern Christians interpret the bible to suit their needs, your liberal interpretation is not warranted.
Keep to the narrow path Brother.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

My research on this topic goes back to ancient Aramaic I am not a modern Christian …….thanks for sharing…maybe we will chat on this topic.

          • JC Teecher

I have one more point to make for the benefit of anyone still wavering on this idea that a pre-trib rapture/catching away, is imminent.

A “change” and gathering with the King of Kings & Lord of Lords is imminent for the “true” Christians, at the “last/seventh trump. No question about that.

However, “all will be changed”, in the twinkling of an eye. “all” is what the scripture says. “last” trumpet is what the scripture says. all means every last human on earth…the good, bad, and the ugly.
Being changed from flesh body into spirit body does not mean all are saved or have been redeemed, it only means they are prepared for the new dimension and Millennial Age. Some to gather with the Lord, and some (most), to gather for either teaching or eternal damnation.

If not for Thess 4:16 & 17, there would be very, very few scriptures that could be interpreted into a pre-trib doctrine.

Rightly dividing the word is “most” important here in this chapter. To fully understand the subject, we must go back to the beginning were the actual subject begins. In the KJV, the subject paragraph is indicated for us. In Thess 4, the final subject matter begins at 13.

            1 Th 4:13 ¶
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
            1Th 4:14
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

We can fully see that the subject is about where those ( the fully redeemed ones), that have already died are gone to. In order to come back with Him, they must have already gone, upon breathing their last breath, to be with him. They are not still out here in cemeteries in graves, Their dead and useless flesh bodies are in those graves, and the soul has gone back to the Father that gave it.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

The last trump( the trump of God ) will be an act of Grace. It will call the undeserving church into heaven. But the trumpet blown by the seventh angel during the Tribulation period will be an act of Wrath. It will signal divine judgement upon those on earth.

The last trump ( the trump of God ) will probably be blown by God. 1 Thess. 4:16. The seventh trumpet will be blown by the seventh angel ( Rev. 11:15 )

Just a few thoughts….and thanks for sharing with me.

            Shalom

          • JC Teecher

Yes, I have heard it explained as you have, but what doesn’t make sense is that we are told every eye shall see, and He, being Christ, has come to set up a Kingdom here on earth.

If we that are alive and remain, are forever to be with the Lord, and He is staying here; how are we then also going to Heaven?
If Christ returns to Heaven with His bride, and then comes back again, 7 years later, to set up the Kingdom, would that not be the 3rd coming, instead of the 2nd coming, which has been prophesied since He left after the resurrection?

I asked the pre-trib lady that called it the Great Snatch the same question and her response was this….” the second return to rapture the church, doesn’t really count as a “return”, since His feet never touch the earth.
It is a secret return, like a thief in the night, and only the saved will disappear from the earth. The remaining sinners will face wrath and persecution.”

I asked again,… “So if all the saved are gone, who is the “woman” that the Antichrist persecutes”?

            She had no answer.

Scripture can only be twisted to conform, but so many times, and then it gets so out of whack, it starts to sound like a fairy tale.

I hope you do not fall for the trap of Antichrist when He returns looking like the lamb slain and telling everyone that He has come to “rapture” the church as soon as all those relatives that don’t believe Him is turned in (to death, as death is the devil) by the pre-trib followers, so they can be persuaded.
That is the only way he can pull it off because all the pre-trib preachers have been indoctrinating folks into believing that they will escape/change/rapture/fly-away, in the twinkle of an eye without any notice. When it doesn’t happen exactly that way, somebody has some “splaining to do”.

            Peace to you brother.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            The woman is Israel……

            Bill, I would love nothing more than to see the planes falling from the sky and the boats running aground, as the Christians are “snatched” up in a blink of the eye, before that ole dragon rears his ugly, and i do mean fuggly, head. Especially as i was flying through the atmosphere to meet in the air, instead of air as “spirit breath of life body”, as it really means. but;
It’s just not biblical, and twist it as we can, with all our might, it still does not align with all of the teachings of Christ.

Years ago, I was a regular on a Christian site that was deep into pre-trib. There were only a handful of regulars that would even entertain the idea that they might have been misled with the pre-trib teaching. And even they would not speak up for fear of getting caught in a heated discussion. I was considered the outsider, and even accused and threatened by the site owner/administrator for my beliefs. In fact one of her little sheeples made insults and accusations of demonic workings in my life, …..solely because i posted scripture against the pre-trib.
One lady was so enthralled by the idea, she dubbed it..The Great Snatch.

Now that was one for the record books.

  • greanfinisher .

I don’t how anyone could ever describe a lingering 23.0% unemployment rate as being part of any economic recovery. Rather, that would simply characterize a depression reminiscent of the 1930’s. The situation is even worse than that as the manufacturing base has been virtually obliterated. Sadly, with the industrial sector now a relic of a past age, no economic recovery will ever be possible, or even imaginable.

Those who fail to prepare are… Prepared to fail

    • greanfinisher .

Even those who do prepare will fail as martial law will almost certainly be invoked.

      • goldminer

LOL you cant invoke Martial law if there is no one there to enforce it. In case you haven’t noticed Police are being killed at will all across the nation. Our military has been neutered by the big zero.
How many solders will turn their guns on family and fellow Americans? How many generals will refuse the commands from TPTB? Some people do take their oath to uphold the Constitution seriously.
Invoking martial law is easier said than done in America. Remember 1776?

        • greanfinisher .

Since the 19th century, martial law had been implemented at least twice in this country. In fact, President Lincoln invoked it at the onset of the Civil War, and FDR initiated it soon after Pearl Harbor. Even during those two major conflicts, there were sufficient resources available to ration everything, maintain order, enforce curfews, secure factories, control movements, squelch strikes, sustain internment camps (Japanese Americans) and eliminate any or all opposition. In regards to the military people, you can assume that they will follow orders, or face certain execution for treason. Remember, this is what military law is all about as there are no rights, liberties, or freedoms. By the way, one of my sources indicated that in the event of a Clinton victory, the President will issue an executive order before he leaves office which will require that all firearms in privately held possession be registered. Likewise, soon after Hillary takes the oath of office, she will declare a state of emergency which will require the confiscation of all privately held firearms.

          • goldminer

So what. Few people will comply. It seems you fear your government. There are millions and millions and millions of people that don’t fear our weak and inneffictive government. Good luck taking their guns. As I said. Who is going to take them? Dead police and Dead solders?
Besides The old bat is bound to loose.
Trump will be out next prez. Unless he gets JFKd. If that happens it will be 1776 all over again.

Well… Big tall high rise buildings have been brought down and turned to rubble.

          • greanfinisher .

One would have to pass through all of the military checkpoints first while avoiding the curfews.

          • greanfinisher .

I think that we’re all in for one big surprise if the racketeerin’ witch wins the election. In fact, I have reason to believe that she will declare a ‘state of emergency’ soon after she takes the oath of office, and confiscate all privately owned firearms and ammunition.

          • greanfinisher .

With a government that is murdering, arresting, wire tapping, torturing, terrorizing and incarcerating Americans without any semblance of due process at all, it seems to me that fear would naturally follow. As far as the gun confiscations are concerned, the goons obviously didn’t have any trouble disarming the people in New Orleans during the Hurricane Katrina disaster.

This is a nice side-show, it erodes the faint legitimacy this site once held for me.
Even a bus driver will pull over and get the children back in their own seats, but the guy running this sites is most likely behind the passive aggressive tactic of cloning user accounts.
          Pathetic.

  • not me

Because this is not a recovery, It is a recession leading to a Depression!

    • greanfinisher .

Actually, the Greater Depression began in 2009.

As long as people continue to buy cars (sales at 5 year highs), continue to buy groceries and gasoline, I do not think the economy is going to roll over. It just doesn’t seem that way in New Jersey.

One TRILLION in outstanding US originated auto loans.

Amazing, don’t you think? Banks are starting to worry and they should. When banks have to finance auto loans LTV +100% for 84 months, something is wrong

buy with sub prime auto loans.
          yeah, that will end well

The Great Recession never truly totally, completely ended.
Right now, It’s the 7th inning stretch, so to speak.

“The worst is yet to come, and boy won’t it be grand…”

  • VigilanteCaregiver

Leftist and progressive usurpers from all sides own this economic crisis. Obama is President and has been for the last 7.5 years: the “Bush’s fault” argument is invalid. We are millions of children short so the usurpers are importing people to replace those they killed in the womb. This is a progressive-socialist economy and it’s collapsin; and from countries the usurpers staryed wars in, so many of the illegals want to hurt us all. Let it die. We can rebuild after their system is finished decaying.

Would reconstruction after the nuclear world war that wipes out half of the world population, make an economic recovery possible? Would the reconstruction be followed by an inability to create a better quality of life and then the same corruption that led to war?

May it be a higher power that is responsible for what living conditions were possible and what options living beings had or did not have to choose from with their freewill? May it be living beings themselves that are solely responsible for their living condition? In any event, would we be able to discern light without the lack of it?

My heart goes out to everyone. I hope that we can all find peace and enlightenment in our attempt to survive.

The reset is going to hurt. Most people will have to eat their new cars. Welfare recipients mostly, though. I’m well prepared.

  • JC Teecher

Did anyone catch the JP Morgan spokesman on early this morning?
I’ll paraphrase the subject he spoke about….
“Central banks have gone about as far as they can go with current monetary policy”.

    I smell a big change a coming.

    Another fine article Michael.

  • Perplexed

There hasn’t been a recovery. There has been massive borrowing and then massive money printing. All this given to the DC cronies to keep the game going. People are waking up hence the need for so many immigrants to dilute the vote of enlightened citizens.

Dig for victory. Grow your own fruits and veggies and you won’t need to visit the markets so often. This will also reduce gas use and gas demand. And gas prices will fall further.

Bought a house some time ago. Then had it upgraded. Now I pay back the loan. Don’t buy anything substantial until I paid back that loan. Every month I check my expenses and try to save a little bit more to make sure the loan is repaid. Once the loan is repaid I can work much less – expenses are down, and no more payment to the bank is needed.

“To any rational observer, it is quite obvious that stock prices should have already started collapsing quite some time ago.”

They did and they have Oct 2014, twice in 2015 (remember the 1,000 point drop in the DOW), and the bloodbath in Jan 2016.

All 4 corrections were bailed out by the Plunge Protection Team, the Exchange Stabilization Fund, The Federal Reserve and the TBTF banks who were given unlimited liquidity and have trillions in reserves which they allocate to propping up the stock market.

The ESF directs the Fed which issues unlimited free credit (monetizing the US Treasury debt) and then buys any dip by FOMC direct action. The TBTF banks then trade amongst themselves in a vast pool of counterfeit US Federal Reserve Notes all backstopped by the US taxpayer.

Remember, last year’s budget earmarked the covering of all the TBTF bank’s derivative exposure thus putting the US Taxpayer directly on the hook for at least 100 Trillion US Dollars of exposure.

But not to worry, your total enslavement is only moments away. Your descendants stretching for the next 500 years will be the indentured servants of the elitist .0001%. It can’t be escaped, the .0001% have a piece of paper that says so.

    Simple.
