<p>When I first heard of this new survey from Harvard University, I was absolutely stunned.  The following is from what <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2016/04/26/a-majority-of-millennials-now-reject-capitalism-poll-shows/">the Washington Post</a> had to say about it&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>The Harvard University survey, which polled young adults between ages 18 and 29, found that <strong>51 percent</strong> of respondents do not support capitalism. Just <strong>42 percent</strong> said they support it.</p>
<p>It isn&#8217;t clear that the young people in the poll would prefer some alternative system, though. Just 33 percent said they supported socialism. The survey had a margin of error of 2.4 percentage points.</p></blockquote>
<p>Could it be possible that young adults were confused by the wording of the survey?</p>
<p>Well, other polls have come up with <a href="http://mic.com/articles/141877/majority-of-millennials-reject-capitalism-survey-says-because-greed-is-not-good#.93WSlzZRy">similar results</a>&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>The university&#8217;s results echo<a class="dyother dyMonitor" href="https://mic.com/articles/135966/new-survey-reveals-why-millennials-are-flocking-to-bernie-sanders#.eGDfKbnR5" data-adid="366738||908|||"> recent findings</a> from Republican pollster Frank Luntz, who surveyed 1,000 Americans between the ages of 18 and 26 and found that <strong>58% of respondents believed socialism to be the &#8220;</strong><span class="comment-selection" data-editor-comment-id="9e77f386-71a7-43ab-9bf2-374a95766734">more</span> compassionate&#8221; political system <span class="comment-selection" data-editor-comment-id="b38ddf0d-19bb-49b5-9669-d264fe664b16">when compared to capitalism</span>. And when participants were asked to sum up the root of America&#8217;s problem in one word, <strong>29% said &#8220;greed.&#8221;</strong></p></blockquote>
<p>This trend among our young people is very real, and you can see it in their support of Bernie Sanders.  For millions upon millions of young adults in America today, Hillary Clinton is not nearly liberal enough for them.  So they have flocked to Sanders, and if they had been the only ones voting in this election season, he would have won the Democratic nomination by a landslide.</p>
<p>Sadly, most of our young people don&#8217;t seem to understand how socialism slowly but surely destroys a nation.  If you want to see the end result of socialism, just look at the economic collapse that is going on in Venezuela right now.  The following comes from  a Bloomberg article entitled &#8220;<a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-04-27/venezuela-faces-its-strangest-shortage-yet-as-inflation-explodes">Venezuela Doesn&#8217;t Have Enough Money to Pay for Its Money</a>&#8220;&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>Venezuela’s epic shortages are nothing new at this point. <strong>No diapers or car parts or aspirin</strong> &#8212; it’s all been well documented. But now the country is at risk of running out of money itself.</p>
<p>In a tale that highlights the <a title="In Venezuela, Chavez Heir Tested as Revolution Fades: QuickTake" href="http://www.bloombergview.com/quicktake/venezuela-price-revolution" data-tracker-action="click" data-tracker-category="recirc" data-tracker-label="inline_link.01">chaos</a> of unbridled inflation, Venezuela is scrambling to print new bills fast enough to keep up with the torrid pace of price increases. Most of the cash, like nearly everything else in the oil-exporting country, is imported. And with hard currency reserves sinking to critically low levels, the central bank is doling out payments so slowly to foreign providers that they are foregoing further business.</p>
<p><strong>Venezuela, in other words, is now so broke that it may not have enough money to pay for its money</strong>.</p></blockquote>
<p>We are losing an entire generation of young people.  These days, there is quite a lot of talk about how we need to get America back to the principles that it was founded upon, but the cold, hard reality of the matter is that most of our young people are running in the opposite direction as fast as they can.</p>
<p>And Americans under the age of 30 are not just becoming more liberal when it comes to economics.  Surveys have found that they are <a href="http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/09/25/the-gops-millennial-problem-runs-deep/">more than twice as likely</a> to support gay rights and <a href="http://www.pewforum.org/2010/02/17/religion-among-the-millennials/">less than half as likely</a> to regularly attend church as the oldest Americans are.</p>
<p>So why is this happening?</p>
<p>Well, the truth is that our colleges and universities have become indoctrination centers for the progressive movement.  I know, because I spent eight years at public universities in this country.  The quality of the education that our young people are receiving is abysmal, but the values that are being imparted to them will last a lifetime.</p>
<p>And of course the same things could be said about our system of education all the way down to the kindergarten level.  There are still some good people in the system, but overall it is overwhelmingly dominated by the progressives.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the major entertainment providers in the United States are also promoting the same values.  In a recent article entitled &#8220;<a href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/depressing-survey-results-show-how-extremely-stupid-america-has-become">Depressing Survey Results Show How Extremely Stupid America Has Become</a>&#8220;, I discussed <a title="Total Audience Report" href="http://ir.nielsen.com/files/doc_presentations/2014/The-Total-Audience-Report.pdf" target="_blank">a Nielsen report</a> which detailed how much time the average American spends consuming media on various electronic devices each day…</p>
<p>Watching live television: 4 hours, 32 minutes</p>
<p>Watching time-shifted television: 30 minutes</p>
<p>Listening to the radio: 2 hours, 44 minutes</p>
<p>Using a smartphone: 1 hour, 33 minutes</p>
<p>Using Internet on a computer: 1 hour, 6 minutes</p>
<p>Overall, the average American spends about 10 hours a day consuming one form of entertainment or another.</p>
<p>When you allow that much &#8220;programming&#8221; into your mind, it is inevitable that it is going to shape your values, and our young people are more &#8220;plugged in&#8221; than any of the rest of us.</p>
<p>So yes, I believe that it is exceedingly clear why we should be deeply concerned about the future of America.  The values that are being relentlessly pounded into the heads of our young people are directly opposed to the values that this nation was founded upon, and it is these young people that will determine the path that this country ultimately takes.</p>

<p>It can be absolutely soul crushing when you discover that the &#8220;bright future&#8221; that the system had been promising you for so many years turns out to be a lie.  A lot of young people ultimately give up on the system and many of them end up just kind of drifting aimlessly through life.  The following is an example from a recent <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303643304579105450145516622.html?mod=e2tw">Wall Street Journal article</a>&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>James Roy, 26, has spent the past six years paying off $14,000 in student loans for two years of college by skating from job to job. Now working as a supervisor for a coffee shop in the Chicago suburb of St. Charles, Ill., Mr. Roy describes his outlook as &#8220;kind of grim.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;It seems to me that if you went to college and took on student debt, there used to be greater assurance that you could pay it off with a good job,&#8221; said the Colorado native, who majored in English before dropping out. &#8220;But now, for people living in this economy and in our age group, it&#8217;s a rough deal.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Young adults as a group have been experiencing a tremendous amount of economic pain in recent years.  The following are 30 statistics about Americans under the age of 30 that will blow your mind&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>#1</strong> The labor force participation rate for men in the 18 to 24 year old age bracket is at <a href="http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-10-01/millennials-devastated-american-dream-becomes-nightmare-most">an all-time low</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#2</strong> The ratio of what men in the 18 to 29 year old age bracket are earning compared to the general population is at <a href="http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-10-01/millennials-devastated-american-dream-becomes-nightmare-most">an all-time low</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#3</strong> Only <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/172493289/Workforce-092913">about a third</a> of all adults in their early 20s are working a full-time job.</p>
<p><strong>#4</strong> For the entire 18 to 29 year old age bracket, the full-time employment rate continues to fall.  In June 2012, <a href="http://www.gallup.com/poll/163727/fewer-young-adults-holding-full-time-jobs-2013.aspx">47 percent</a> of that entire age group had a full-time job.  One year later, in June 2013, only <a href="http://www.gallup.com/poll/163727/fewer-young-adults-holding-full-time-jobs-2013.aspx">43.6 percent</a> of that entire age group had a full-time job.</p>
<p><strong>#5</strong> Back in the year 2000, 80 percent of men in their late 20s had a full-time job.  Today, only <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/172493289/Workforce-092913">65 percent</a> do.</p>
<p><strong>#6</strong> In 2007, the unemployment rate for the 20 to 29 year old age bracket was about 6.5 percent.  Today, the unemployment rate for that same age group is <a title="about 13 percent" href="http://www.clevelandfed.org/research/trends/2012/0312/01labmar.cfm" target="_blank">about 13 percent</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#7</strong> American families that have a head of household that is under the age of 30 have a poverty rate <a title="of 37 percent" href="http://lrfuller.wordpress.com/2012/10/10/the-generation-that-never-stood-a-chance/" target="_blank">of 37 percent</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#8</strong> During 2012, young adults under the age of 30 accounted for 23 percent of the workforce, but they accounted for a whopping <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/172493289/Workforce-092913">36 percent</a> of the unemployed.</p>
<p><strong>#9</strong> During 2011, <a title="53 percent" href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/53-percent-of-all-young-college-graduates-in-america-are-either-unemployed-or-underemployed" target="_blank">53 percent</a> of all Americans with a bachelor’s degree under the age of 25 were either unemployed or underemployed.</p>
<p><strong>#10</strong> At this point <a title="about half" href="http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/05/12/college-degree-study_n_3263055.html?ncid=edlinkusaolp00000003" target="_blank">about half</a> of all recent college graduates are working jobs that do not even require a college degree.</p>
<p><strong>#11</strong> The number of Americans in the 16 to 29 year old age bracket with a job declined by <a href="http://lrfuller.wordpress.com/2012/10/10/the-generation-that-never-stood-a-chance/">18 percent</a> between 2000 and 2010.</p>
<p><strong>#12</strong> According to one survey, <a title="82 percent" href="http://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2012/02/09/young-underemployed-and-optimistic/4/#chapter-3-how-todays-economy-is-affecting-young-adults?src=prc-section" target="_blank">82 percent</a> of all Americans believe that it is harder for young adults to find jobs today than it was for their parents to find jobs.</p>
<p><strong>#13</strong> Incomes for U.S. households led by someone between the ages of 25 and 34 have fallen <a title="by about 12 percent" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/every-age-group-is-getting-poorer-in-america-except-for-one-2011-9" target="_blank">by about 12 percent</a> after you adjust for inflation since the year 2000.</p>
<p><strong>#14</strong> In 1984, the median net worth of households led by someone 65 or older was <a title="10 times" href="http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/07/news/economy/wealth_gap_age/index.htm" target="_blank">10 times</a> larger than the median net worth of households led by someone 35 or younger.  Today, the median net worth of households led by someone 65 or older is <a title="47 times" href="http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/07/news/economy/wealth_gap_age/index.htm" target="_blank">47 times</a> larger than the median net worth of households led by someone 35 or younger.</p>
<p><strong>#15</strong> In 2011, SAT scores for young men were the worst that they had been <a title="in 40 years" href="http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/these-two-traps-are-absolutely-destroying-the-next-generation-of-young-men-in-america" target="_blank">in 40 years</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#16</strong> Incredibly, <a title="approximately two-thirds" href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/student-loan-debt-hell-21-statistics-that-will-make-you-think-twice-about-going-to-college" target="_blank">approximately two-thirds</a> of all college students graduate with student loans.</p>
<p><strong>#17</strong> According to the Federal Reserve, the total amount of student loan debt has risen by <a title="275 percent" href="http://money.cnn.com/2012/05/31/news/economy/fed-student-loans/index.htm?iid=EL" target="_blank">275 percent</a> since 2003.</p>
<p><strong>#18</strong> In America today, <a title="40 percent" href="http://www.cnbc.com/id/49197701" target="_blank">40 percent</a> of all households that are led by someone under the age of 35 are paying off student loan debt.  Back in 1989, that figure was <a title="below 20 percent" href="http://www.mybudget360.com/average-student-debt-average-cost-for-college-rite-of-passage-student-debt-bubble/" target="_blank">below 20 percent</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#19</strong> The total amount of student loan debt in the United States <a title="now exceeds" href="http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/is-college-worth-it">now exceeds</a> the total amount of credit card debt in the United States.</p>
<p><strong>#20</strong> According to the U.S. Department of Education, <a title="11 percent" href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-05-23/overdue-student-loans-reach-record-as-u-s-graduates-seek-jobs.html" target="_blank">11 percent</a> of all student loans are at least 90 days delinquent.</p>
<p><strong>#21</strong> The student loan default rate in the United States <a title="has nearly doubled" href="http://www.baycitizen.org/education/story/student-loan-default-rate-doubles/" target="_blank">has nearly doubled</a> since 2005.</p>
<p><strong>#22</strong> One survey found that <a title="70% of college graduates" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/hey-college-seniors-this-is-whats-happening-to-your-peers-when-they-try-to-find-jobs-2011-4#7-out-of-10-of-you-will-wish-you-had-prepared-more-for-the-real-world-during-school-1" target="_blank">70% of all college graduates</a> wish that they had spent more time preparing for the &#8220;real world&#8221; while they were still in college.</p>
<p><strong>#23</strong> In the United States today, there are <a title="more than 100,000" href="http://growth.newamerica.net/sites/newamerica.net/files/policydocs/26-04-11%20Middle%20Class%20Under%20Stress.pdf" target="_blank">more than 100,000</a> janitors that have college degrees.</p>
<p><strong>#24</strong> In the United States today, <a title="317,000 waiters and waitresses" href="http://chronicle.com/blogs/innovations/why-did-17-million-students-go-to-college/27634" target="_blank">317,000 waiters and waitresses</a> have college degrees.</p>
<p><strong>#25</strong> Today, an all-time low <a title="44.2%" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/america-lost-generation-census-2011-9" target="_blank">44.2 percent</a> of all Americans between the ages of 25 and 34 are married.</p>
<p><strong>#26</strong> According to the Pew Research Center, <a href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/172493289/Workforce-092913">57 percent</a> of all Americans in the 18 to 24 year old age bracket lived with their parents during 2012.</p>
<p><strong>#27</strong> One poll discovered that <a title="29 percent" href="http://www.forbes.com/sites/jmaureenhenderson/2012/05/02/is-gen-ys-live-at-home-lifestyle-killing-the-housing-market/" target="_blank">29 percent</a> of all Americans in the 25 to 34 year old age bracket are still living with their parents.</p>
<p><strong>#28</strong> Young men <a title="are nearly twice as likely" href="http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/04/pf/young_adults/index.htm?iid=HP_LN" target="_blank">are nearly twice as likely</a> to live with their parents as young women the same age are.</p>
<p><strong>#29</strong> Overall, approximately <a title="25 million" href="http://moneyland.time.com/2012/02/14/romance-real-estate-how-your-housing-situation-affects-your-love-life/#ixzz1n85dX0xm" target="_blank">25 million</a> American adults are living with their parents according to Time Magazine.</p>
<p><strong>#30</strong> Young Americans are becoming increasingly frustrated that previous generations have saddled them with a nearly 17 trillion dollar <a title="national debt" href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/national-debt" target="_blank">national debt</a> that they are expected to make payments on for the rest of their lives.</p>
<p>And this trend is not just limited to the United States.  As I have written about frequently, unemployment rates for young adults <a href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/category/europe">throughout Europe</a> have been soaring to unprecedented heights.  For example, the unemployment rate for those under the age of 25 in Italy has now reached <a href="http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-10-01/italian-unemployment-rate-rose-more-than-forecast-in-august.html">40.1 percent</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.sovereignman.com/trends/government-cutting-benefits-for-generation-screwed-12777/">Simon Black of the Sovereign Man blog</a> discussed this global trend in a recent article on his website&#8230;</p>
<blockquote><p>Youth unemployment rates in these countries are upwards of 40% to nearly 70%. The most recent figures published by the Italian government show yet another record high in youth unemployment.</p>
<p>An entire generation is now coming of age without being able to leave the nest or have any prospect of earning a decent wage in their home country.</p>
<p>This underscores an important point that I’ve been writing about for a long time: young people in particular get the sharp end of the stick.</p>
<p>They’re the last to be hired, the first to be fired, the first to be sent off to fight and die in foreign lands, and the first to have their benefits cut.</p>
<p>And if they’re ever lucky enough to find meaningful employment, they can count on working their entire lives to pay down the debts of previous generations through higher and higher taxes.</p>
<p>But when it comes time to collect… finally… those benefits won’t be there for them.</p></blockquote>
<p>Meanwhile, the overall economy continues to get <a href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/20-ordinary-americans-talk-about-the-economic-despair-that-is-growing-like-a-cancer-all-around-them">even weaker</a>.</p>
<p>In the United States, Gallup&#8217;s daily economic confidence index is now the lowest that it has been <a href="http://www.gallup.com/poll/151550/Gallup-Daily-Economic-Confidence-Index.aspx">in more than a year</a>.</p>
<p>For young people that are in high school or college right now, the future does not look bright.  In fact, this is probably as good as the U.S. economy is going to get.  It is probably only going to be downhill from here.</p>
<p>The system is failing, and young people are going to become even angrier and even more frustrated.</p>
<p>So what will that mean for our future?</p>

<p><strong>#1</strong> The marriage rate in the United States has fallen to an all-time low.  Right now it is sitting at a yearly rate of <a title="6.8 marriages per 1000 people" href="http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/06/17/marriage-trends-demographics/2424641/" target="_blank">6.8 marriages per 1000 people</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#2</strong> Today, an all-time low <a title="44.2%" href="http://www.businessinsider.com/america-lost-generation-census-2011-9" target="_blank">44.2 percent</a> of Americans in the 25 to 34 year old age bracket are married.</p>
<p><strong>#3</strong> According to the Pew Research Center, only <a title="51 percent" href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/married-couples-at-a-record-low/2011/12/13/gIQAnJyYsO_story.html" target="_blank">51 percent</a> of all adults in the United States are currently married.  Back in 1960, <a title="72 percent" href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/married-couples-at-a-record-low/2011/12/13/gIQAnJyYsO_story.html" target="_blank">72 percent</a> of all adults in the United States were married.</p>
<p><strong>#4</strong> Back in 1950, <a title="78 percent" href="http://townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2012/05/15/5_reasons_america_is_in_decline/page/full/" target="_blank">78 percent</a> of all households in the United States contained a married couple.  Today, that number has declined to <a title="48 percent" href="http://townhall.com/columnists/johnhawkins/2012/05/15/5_reasons_america_is_in_decline/page/full/" target="_blank">48 percent</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#5</strong> 100 years ago, 4.52 were living in the average U.S. household, but now the average U.S. household only consists of <a title="2.59 people" href="http://www.moneychoice.org/then-vs-now/" target="_blank">2.59 people</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#6</strong> The United States has the highest percentage of <a title="one person households" href="http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/peo_one_per_hou-people-one-person-households" target="_blank">one person households</a> on the entire planet.</p>
<p><strong>#7</strong> In the United States today, <a title="more than half" href="http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/15/opinion/sunday/the-downside-of-cohabiting-before-marriage.html?_r=1" target="_blank">more than half</a> of all couples &#8220;move in together&#8221; before they get married.</p>
<p><strong>#8</strong> The divorce rate for couples that live together first is <a title="significantly higher" href="http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/15/opinion/sunday/the-downside-of-cohabiting-before-marriage.html?_r=1" target="_blank">significantly higher</a> than for those that do not.</p>
<p><strong>#9</strong> For women under the age of 30 in the United States, <a title="more than half of all babies" href="http://articles.businessinsider.com/2012-02-21/home/31081751_1_illegitimacy-black-children-unmarried-women" target="_blank">more than half of all babies</a> are being born out of wedlock.</p>
<p><strong>#10</strong> In 1970, the average woman had her first child when she was <a href="http://www.today.com/money/dreams-delayed-or-denied-young-adults-put-parenthood-6C10528964">21.4 years old</a>.  Now the average woman has her first child when she is <a href="http://www.today.com/money/dreams-delayed-or-denied-young-adults-put-parenthood-6C10528964">25.6 years old</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#11</strong> According to the Centers for Disease Control, there were <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2358813/Baby-bust-National-birthrate-hit-time-low-weak-economic-recovery.html">69.3 births</a> per 1,000 women in the 15 to 44 year old age bracket in 2007. Now the rate has fallen to <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2358813/Baby-bust-National-birthrate-hit-time-low-weak-economic-recovery.html">63.2 births</a> per 1,000 women.</p>
<p><strong>#12</strong> The birth rate for American women in the 20 to 24 year old age bracket has fallen to <a href="http://www.today.com/money/dreams-delayed-or-denied-young-adults-put-parenthood-6C10528964">85.3 births per 1,000 women</a>.  That is a new all-time record low.</p>
<p><strong>#13</strong> The United States has the highest <a title="divorce rate" href="http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/peo_div_rat-people-divorce-rate" target="_blank">divorce rate</a> in the entire world.</p>
<p><strong>#14</strong> At this point, approximately <a title="one out of every three U.S. children" href="http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/dec/25/fathers-disappear-from-households-across-america/print/" target="_blank">one out of every three children</a> in the United States lives in a home without a father.</p>
<p><strong>#15</strong> Without a father around, many single mothers in this country are really struggling to survive.  Sadly, approximately <a title="42 percent" href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2056864/Handout-nation-Food-stamp-map-America-reveals-hotspots-15-population-government-help.html" target="_blank">42 percent</a> of all single mothers in the United States are on food stamps.</p>
<p><strong>#16</strong> It is being projected that <a title="approximately 50 percent" href="http://theeconomiccollapseblog.com/archives/more-than-1-in-5-american-children-are-now-living-below-the-poverty-line" target="_blank">approximately 50 percent</a> of all U.S. children will be on food stamps at some point before they reach the age of 18.</p>
<p><strong>#17</strong> Today, <a title="more than a million" href="http://www.nlchp.org/view_release.cfm?PRID=148" target="_blank">more than a million</a> public school students in the United States are homeless.  This is the first time that has ever happened in our history.</p>
<p><strong>#18</strong> The United States has the highest <a title="teen pregnancy rate" href="http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_tee_pre_sha-health-teenage-pregnancy-share" target="_blank">teen pregnancy rate</a> in the entire world.  In fact, the United States has a teen pregnancy rate that is more than twice as high as Canada, more than three times as high as France and more than seven times as high as Japan.</p>
<p><strong>#19</strong> In the United States today, approximately <a title="47 percent" href="http://wtop.com/267/2955744/Researchers-report-more-condom-use-among-teenagers" target="_blank">47 percent</a> of all high school students have had sex.</p>
<p><strong>#20</strong> Approximately <a title="one out of every four" href="http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2008-03-11-std_n.htm" target="_blank">one out of every four</a> teen girls in the United States has at least one sexually transmitted disease.</p>
<p><strong>#21</strong> According to one survey, <a title="24 percent" href="http://www.today.com/id/27706917/site/todayshow/ns/today-parenting_and_family/t/survey-unprotected-sex-common-among-teens/#.UP3Ulmec2T5" target="_blank">24 percent</a> of all U.S. teens that have at least one sexually transmitted disease say that they still have unprotected sex.</p>
<p><strong>#22</strong> Instead of being raised by parents, an increasing number of children in America are being raised by movies, television and video games.  For example, the average young American will spend <a title="10,000 hours" href="http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/these-two-traps-are-absolutely-destroying-the-next-generation-of-young-men-in-america" target="_blank">10,000 hours</a> playing video games before the age of 21.</p>
<p><strong>#23</strong> Americans are tied with the British for the highest average number of hours <a title="spent watching television each week" href="http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/med_tel_vie-media-television-viewing" target="_blank">spent watching television each week</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#24</strong> There are <a title="more than 3 million reports" href="http://www.childhelp.org/pages/statistics" target="_blank">more than 3 million reports</a> of child abuse in the United States every single year.</p>
<p><strong>#25</strong> The United States actually has the highest <a title="child abuse death rate" href="http://www.allgov.com/Controversies/ViewNews/US_Leads_Developed_World_in_Child_Abuse_Death_Rate_111018" target="_blank">child abuse death rate</a> in the developed world.</p>
<p><strong>#26</strong> Approximately 20 percent of all child sexual abuse victims in the United States <a title="are under the age of 8" href="http://www.d2l.org/site/c.4dICIJOkGcISE/b.6035035/k.8258/Prevent_Child_Sexual_Abuse.htm" target="_blank">are under the age of 8</a>.</p>
<p><strong>#27</strong> It is estimated that <a title="one out of every four" href="http://www.d2l.org/site/c.4dICIJOkGcISE/b.6143427/k.38C5/Child_Sexual_Abuse_Statistics.htm" target="_blank">one out of every four</a> girls will be sexually abused before they become adults.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, this is a problem that is not going to be fixed overnight.  Getting the &#8220;right politicians&#8221; into office will not solve our problems and neither will spending a bunch of money.</p>
<p>The change that we need is a change of the heart.  We need to change how we treat one another and we need to get our priorities straight.</p>
<p>Our families are really messed up, and this is <a href="http://thetruthwins.com/archives/40-signs-that-we-have-seriously-messed-up-the-next-generation-of-americans">hurting our kids the most</a>.  There is no way that this country is going to have any hope for a bright future unless our families start getting stronger.</p>
<p>Or could it be possible that I am overreacting?</p>
<p>What do you think?</p>
