22 Signs That The Global Economic Turmoil We Have Seen So Far In 2016 Is Just The Beginning

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Skyline Globe Clock Gears - Public DomainAs bad as the month of January was for the global economy, the truth is that the rest of 2016 promises to be much worse.  Layoffs are increasing at a pace that we haven’t seen since the last recession, major retailers are shutting down hundreds of locations, corporate profit margins are plunging, global trade is slowing down dramatically, and several major European banks are in the process of completely imploding.  I am about to share some numbers with you that are truly eye-popping.  Each one by itself would be reason for concern, but when you put all of the pieces together it creates a picture that is hard to deny.  The global economy is in crisis, and this is going to have very serious implications for the financial markets moving forward.  U.S. stocks just had their worst January in seven years, and if I am right much worse is still yet to come this year.  The following are 22 signs that the global economic turmoil that we have seen so far in 2016 is just the beginning…

1. The number of job cuts in the United States skyrocketed 218 percent during the month of January according to Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

2. The Baltic Dry Index just hit yet another brand new all-time record low.  As I write this article, it is sitting at 303.

3. U.S. factory orders have now dropped for 14 months in a row.

4. In the U.S., the Restaurant Performance Index just fell to the lowest level that we have seen since 2008.

5. In January, orders for class 8 trucks (the big trucks that you see shipping stuff around the country on our highways) declined a whopping 48 percent from a year ago.

6. Rail traffic is also slowing down substantially.  In Colorado, there are hundreds of train engines that are just sitting on the tracks with nothing to do.

7. Corporate profit margins peaked during the third quarter of 2014 and have been declining steadily since then.  This usually happens when we are heading into a recession.

8. A series of extremely disappointing corporate quarterly reports is sending stock after stock plummeting.  Here is a summary from Zero Hedge of a few examples that we have just witnessed…

  • SHARES OF LIONS GATE ENTERTAINMENT FALL 5 PCT IN EXTENDED TRADE AFTER QUARTERLY RESULTS – RTRS
  • TABLEAU SOFTWARE SHARES TUMBLE 40 PCT IN AFTER HOURS TRADING – RTRS
  • YRC WORLDWIDE SHARES DOWN 16.4 PCT AFTER THE BALL FOLLOWING RESULTS – RTRS
  • SPLUNK INC SHARES DOWN 7.6 PCT IN AFTER HOURS TRADING – RTRS
  • LINKEDIN SHARES EXTEND DECLINE, DOWN 24 PCT AFTER RESULTS, GUIDANCE – RTRS
  • HANESBRANDS SHARES FURTHER ADD TO LOSSES IN EXTENDED TRADE, LAST DOWN 14.9 PCT – RTRS
  • OUTERWALL SHARES FALL 11 PCT IN EXTENDED TRADING AFTER QUARTERLY RESULTS – RTRS
  • GENWORTH SHARES DOWN 16.5 PCT AFTER THE BELL FOLLOWING RESULTS, RESTRUCTURING PLAN

9. Junk bonds continue to crash on Wall Street.  On Monday, JNK was down to 32.60 and HYG was down to 77.99.

10. On Thursday, a major British news source publicly named five large European banks that are considered to be in very serious danger…

Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse, Santander, Barclays and RBS are among the stocks that are falling sharply sending shockwaves through the financial world, according to former hedge fund manager and ex Goldman Sachs employee Raoul Pal.

11. Deutsche Bank is the biggest bank in Germany and it has more exposure to derivatives than any other bank in the world.  Unfortunately, Deutsche Bank credit default swaps are now telling us that there is deep turmoil at the bank and that a complete implosion may be imminent.

12. Last week, we learned that Deutsche Bank had lost a staggering 6.8 billion euros in 2015.  If you will recall, I warned about massive problems at Deutsche Bank all the way back in September.  The most important bank in Germany is exceedingly troubled, and it could end up being for the EU what Lehman Brothers was for the United States.

13. Credit Suisse just announced that it will be eliminating 4,000 jobs.

14. Royal Dutch Shell has announced that it is going to be eliminating 10,000 jobs.

15. Caterpillar has announced that it will be closing 5 plants and getting rid of 670 workers.

16. Yahoo has announced that it is going to be getting rid of 15 percent of its total workforce.

17. Johnson & Johnson has announced that it is slashing its workforce by 3,000 jobs.

18. Sprint just laid off 8 percent of its workforce and GoPro is letting go 7 percent of its workers.

19. All over America, retail stores are shutting down at a staggering pace.  The following list comes from one of my previous articles

-Wal-Mart is closing 269 stores, including 154 inside the United States.

-K-Mart is closing down more than two dozen stores over the next several months.

-J.C. Penney will be permanently shutting down 47 more stores after closing a total of 40 stores in 2015.

-Macy’s has decided that it needs to shutter 36 stores and lay off approximately 2,500 employees.

-The Gap is in the process of closing 175 stores in North America.

-Aeropostale is in the process of closing 84 stores all across America.

-Finish Line has announced that 150 stores will be shutting down over the next few years.

-Sears has shut down about 600 stores over the past year or so, but sales at the stores that remain open continue to fall precipitously.

20. According to the New York Times, the Chinese economy is facing a mountain of bad loans that “could exceed $5 trillion“.

21. Japan has implemented a negative interest rate program in a desperate attempt to try to get banks to make more loans.

22. The global economy desperately needs the price of oil to go back up, but Morgan Stanley says that we will not see $80 oil again until 2018.

It is not difficult to see where the numbers are trending.

Last week, I told my wife that I thought that Marco Rubio was going to do better than expected in Iowa.

How did I come to that conclusion?

It was simply based on how his poll numbers were trending.

And when you look at where global economic numbers are trending, they tell us that 2016 is going to be a year that is going to get progressively worse as it goes along.

So many of the exact same things that we saw happen in 2008 are happening again right now, and you would have to be blind not to see it.

Hopefully I am wrong about what is coming in our immediate future, because millions upon millions of Americans are not prepared for what is ahead, and most of them are going to get absolutely blindsided by the coming crisis.

  • Bill

Oil is too cheap so the imposter is going to tax it $10/ barrel. That’s going to really stimulate the economy.

    • Sweet T

It will never make it through congress. It’s just meant to be another distraction away from the real issues. Like those above for example…

      • Mike Smithy

Since when has Congress stopped anything President Zero wanted to do?

    • Steeve Girard

It will not be cheap for long… we are in a sellout, because producers are afraid to not be able to sell all their inventories, or they are afraid of losing markets. We have about 14 years left of easy to reach oil.

  • Marty Mann

I agree that things are really falling apart here and abroad but I dont see anything bringing down the American stock market. It seems to me that God himself cant even slow it down. I finally agree with the author that so many signs are there but stocks seem to take two steps forward and one step back, and at this pace they’ll be back at 18K by mid-summer. Oil is climbing again and it seems to not have the dramatic effect on stocks when it slides anymore.

    • K

Interesting, someone said something very similar. It was the most advanced ship, of its’ time. They said God himself, could not sink it. It was named Titanic..

      • Marty Mann

You are right, but Im not saying it to be arrogant as they did then. I said it just seems that way.

    • JF

      The stock market is manipulated.

      • Mike Smithy

I am shocked by that revelation, simply shocked I tell you. (Sarc).

    • Liberty First

Do not get overconfident. What harm is there keeping money in cash right now? So, you might make 1,000 or so on every 10,000 dollars you invest if the market gets back up to 18K. But at some time in the next two years, it is with 90% certainty going to be much lower. Keep your powder dry. By when it crashes. At worst, you might not make a little extra money. At best, you save your money and might have an opportunity of a lifetime. If you must buy, consider decent gold stocks and gold. I like NEM, have been patient for months, and was rewarded today. But again, that will go down with the rest of them in all likelihood. Just saying. Be careful right now.

      • messianicdruid

Gold is a sapling, silver is an acorn.

[ 50 bucks an ounce by labour day ]

        • Liberty First

Then I am going to be really rich via LEAP options. But Messianic, I still expect a much longer time horizon. Regardless, one day, for sure.

  • Pamela

I am very relived that Hillary won the Iowa caucus. She is sharp, knowledgeable, and has a wonderful sense of humor. It dismays me that more woman did not vote for Clinton in the Iowa caucus. Women are underpaid and overworked. Thus, I am a proponent of equal pay for equal work.
Personally, I think tomorrow’s job report will be robust. Wages are trending in a favorable direction. I am so proud that Hillary his the odds on favorite to win the presidency.
I am at a loss in regards to why so many people dislike her. She has accomplished so much. Please see below.
The Clinton foundation has improved the lives of 400 million people in over 180 countries.
She secured $21 Billion in funding to restore the World Trade Center sight.
She spearheaded an investigation into human rights abuses perpetrated under the Patriot Act.
She was instrumental in brokering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
    Hillary is truly an inspiration.
My vote is locked in stone. There is no way I am voting for a rude person like Trump, Cruz, or Rubio. Sanders has a good heart. However at 74 I feel he is too old for the job.
Let’s continue Obama ‘s wonderful policies like the ACA. The ACA has played an instrumental role in saving thousands of lives and slowing the rise of healthcare costs.

    • Sweet T

      Funny.

    • kfilly

I hope your sarcastic. If not, I know some people could desperately use the hallucinogetic drugs you must be on.

      • Marty Mann

        I like you kfilly!!!

    • Marty Mann

Thank God for people like Trump, Rubio, and Cruz. At least each one has a backbone even if they dont see eye to eye with one another.

      • Pamela

Trump is not politically correct; America needs someone who respects the feeling of other nations. It is important to be able to view an issue from another person’s perspective. Hillary brings political correctness and a deep knowledge of foreign policy to the table.

        • Marty Mann

I couldnt care less if hes not politically correct. Im glad the GOP candidates aren’t pc like the idiot in the White House or your hero who’s a zero…hillary. May she rot in her own filthy lies asap. Thats all I have to say to you so respond all you want but Im not going to argue with a total idiot raised with bleeding heart treehuggers. Go back and smoke your peace pipe with the natives in stupidville.

          • bigskygrl

She is not high, she is lowly trolling. Don’t take her bait. Scripted, canned responses, all of them.

          • kfilly

Or dumb. In today’s Amerika, it is hard to tell.

        • John

The worst secretary of state in history.

        • kfilly

You should watch the video clip of Hillary and James Baker laughing as they are talking about going to war with Iran. There is a video clip on YouTube from 2012 of just that. Yes, I am sure Chelsea Clinton will be on the front lines with her M-16, and I am positive you will look good with a permenant orange Afro (result of Iran’s allies Russia or China nuking us).

        • Malcolm Reynolds

America needs someone who respects the feeling of other nations.
Yea, because that’s been a SMASHING success for Obama. Oh wait…

      • Mike Smithy

Rubio is a sell-out RINO. If the establishment can’t have Bush, Kasich or Christie they will settle for Rubio.

      • sistersoldier

We need a complete regime change. How many times must we circle this mountain before we realize its not going anywhere? No matter who they elect as president the dark powers that operate and create strongholds in government do not change – not without prayer. The policies remain the same because the hidden players hold all the cards. Its a devilish sham!

      • GSOB

Pray for who to vote for.
Out of the three, who is the Christian?
        (Cruz)

    • David

what planet are you living on Lady?

    • TrollingforTrolls

Sorry, but possibly the best laugh I’ve had all day. I am a woman and there is no way in hell I would vote for this evil wench. To this day, I regret voting for Obama. She will just be a continuation of this country’s downward spiral

      • sistersoldier

An “acceleration” of this country’s downward spiral. But most certainly not an improvement of any kind. “I will not raise middle class taxes!” she shouts. Of course you won’t because there will be no middle class to raise taxes on – we figured that out all by ourselves….. 8D

        • Steeve Girard

It goes hand in hand with available cheap energy.

    • Bill G Wilminton NC

Please for your safety quickly change your medication you are beyond the beyond……………

    • Megalon

I agree. When she had Vince Foster murdered, afterwards she and her loyal staffers cleaned up his office for him-Hillary is a very kind and considerate person! When Ambassador Stephens and the others were murdered in Benghazi, Hillary’s decisive and clear actions demonstrate her ability to lead. When the Clintons murdered those two boys who stumbled on their drug running operation in Arkansas, they had the decency to place their bodies on the train tracks in an attempt to spare the parents the upset, that they had been murdered. There are so many more..

      • Steeve Girard

        Zippers, Drugs and Rockefellers!

    • The GOOSE

Hillary Clinton is one of the most corrupt politicians in US history.

    • Mike Smithy

In addition, she was directly responsible for the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi and then lied to their families as well as the American people. As a bonus pursuant to her stellar judgement, she thought it was a great idea to place highly classified emails on her personal server located in her bathroom closet. Lastly, as the former Secretary of State, she helped pave the way for Iran to become a nuclear power. Yep, she is an excellent candidate for the Presidency. (Sarc)

    • Zenithon

Put down the pitcher of Kool-Aid and take in some oxygen before you before you drown in it.

    • Steeve Girard

She is just singing a sleep lullaby, and people like you are falling asleep.

    • Jim Clark

She is also a devoted Yankees fan (a Chicago native, she wore a Yankees cap once in her New York Senatorial campaign and looked as out of place as the Clampetts in Beverly Hills.

I’d vote for Hillary if she told me how I could turn $1,000 into $100,000 in the commodities market simply by reading the Wall Street Journal, as she claims.

    • Kochvilledi

Oh for goodness sakes. Just look at the Clinton Foundation’s IRS 1099 form. The only people being helped by this organization are the Clintons and their buddies.

    • Mark

Smart and Knowledgeable tell that to the relations of the children from WACO.

      • Mark

        If any are left.

    • Steve

What a Laugh. Thanks Pamela you made me smile when i was depressed with all the crap that is going down. LOLOLOLOLOL ROFLMAO

      • Steve

No wonder we are all doomed when people have idea’s this bright.

    • kaysel

Is this sarcasm or just delusion?

  • Pamela

Michael, I think you should do an article about the importance of being politically correct. Too many people like Trump are insensitive.

    • JF

Being ‘politically correct’ is a large part of our cultural problem. Notice only one group seems to get their way – because nobody will dare oppose them.

    • Marco

In my opinion, politically correct = lie. The thing about the truth is that you can’t argue with it. It just is. So certain people choose not to hear any of it, mask it, twist it – that is what political correctness is all about.

      • Steeve Girard

        Heck yeah!

    • Bill G Wilminton NC

To be ” politically correct ” in Iran allows the police to throw a homosexual off a 5 story roof…. with no pool at the bottom.

In the USA we have “unalienable rights from our Creator ” .

A person in The USA should be able to go to a street corner and preach/speak whatever message he wants to deliver.

The term ” politically correct “…..INHIBITS…… ” free speech ” but Mr Trump took care of that term and freed many people to stand up and express their views.

The word “insensitive” has a place but not when used to inhibit free speech…..In this country up til now we have Free Speech.

      • Steeve Girard

Tell that the group who made the song: Banned in the USA.

  • Hillbilly Boy

As long as Americans can watch cartoons with bunnies eating cupcakes, they will live in ignorant bliss until the power goes off. The love of soft living destroyed this country two generations ago.

    • ONE WHO KNOWS

America is God’s dream. The Father’s Will shall be done. I AM the American Dream. Being American is a faithful belief that you can move your mountains. You believe in your dream although there’s no reason or evidence for your belief. The aforementioned words is what made America a great nation.

  • Hillbilly Boy

Yeah, Hillary is an inspiration to psychopathic liars everywhere. Ha!

    • Marty Mann

      Amen!!!

  • Hillbilly Boy

Yeah, Sanders has a good heart- just like Comrade Stalin.

  • Robert

Why do so many not grasp a 19 trillion dollar debt? There is no magic fix for that. There is not a close second issue that endangers the entire nation. The lives of generations not even born are ruined. The young have been sold into servitude.

    • MP

There is an ultimate fix. Scrap the USD and start all over again.

    • Steeve Girard

There is a solution de the debt, but it is too ugly for greedy people.
      .
      Negative interest rates.
      .
It makes deficits melt, it causes commodities surplus, which causes collapse in prices and revenues.
      .
In simple words… it destroys money.

    • Horiboyable .

Folks think they can vote themselves rich. What is really immoral and cannibalistic, are folks who benefit from this borrowing are stealing their own children’s future, they better hope their children don’t click before they have to find an old folks home for them.

    • messianicdruid

The debt must be repudiated. It is all fraud. Money created from nothing is still nothing. Usury on nothing is far worse than usury on something. Stop using their “money”. It will take a while, start now.

      • Warning Signs

You are exactly correct. NON-COMPLIANCE to their senseless statutes and use of their make believe money is a start.

    • Warning Signs

Because in reality, THERE IS NO 19TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT. At least not for the American people.
The so called debt belongs to THE UNITED STATES, Inc. A now defunct, bankrupt corporation that is doing anything in its power to move its debt to someone else by FRAUD. You all may want to research that. I’m not here to educate you stupid sessA.
Now, let’s think logically. Basic accounting states that if a DEBT is created somewhere, there also needs to be a CREDIT created somewhere. Funny how government only talks about the debt (money that they stole) and never talks about the CREDIT (money that they banked somewhere).
Spare me your comments. Apathy and lack of wisdom have sealed your fate til the awakening.

      • Robert

Sometime back I made a personal decision to consider rude, vituperative people as non people. In the future I will ignore your “name” and instantly consider that you have nothing to add to a reasonable discussion. Rudeness is a bullying tactic and I for one will not play that game.

    • Mark

I agree with you on this issue. Very concerning.

  • Hillbilly Boy

If we called our debts in from other countries, they can’t pay us either. Let’s just call it a wash and start over. Tell them that the freebies they got from us were not in fact , free.

    • CharlesH

That makes too much sense – so we’ll dismiss that thought.

  • James Dohnalek

One more extremely important point. The millenials, gen x’s, and gen y’all have graduated with a mountain of educational debt. Enough debt to buy a home. It will take them 30 to 40 years to pay that off before they buy things that were part of the American Dream ie, house, car, supporting wife and children and their education.
And will they save enough personal wealth to retire?
NOT A CHANCE WILL ANY OF THIS HAPPEN !!!

    • Steeve Girard

There is a “new” “American Dream”, one which involves being a rebel to the system…. Your home is a camper on an old truck, or a tent you carry on your motorcycle. You work where the season permits it, when the more costly season comes, you quit and move on elsewhere. You do not buy a lot, you do not sell a lot. Just what is necessary. You have no fix address, only a mail drop point.
      .
This is a lifestyle that is almost criminalized in Western Countries.

      • europa3962

don’t they call these people travelers?

        • Steeve Girard

          Gypsies, Carnies, Without Papers…

          • retired22

            Okies.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

travelers, retired people, RVers, ski bums, migrant farm hands, migrant ranchers.
Dude hasn’t got the first clue.

          • Steeve Girard

Thanks for expanding the list. +1

          • Malcolm Reynolds

Soooo, you failed to recognize it was a refutation of your assertion that the lifestyle is “almost criminalized”.

          • Steeve Girard

It is almost criminalized, because they want people to work every possible moment they can, produce in the most continuous fashion possible. Which is a way to insure slavery. And also to be able to bleed the people of their wealth, to fill their greed. If you do not follow that plan, by having dead moments due to the conditions of life that is around you, like being forced to “winterize”, you can be accused of being a vagabond, you can be accused of trespassing, which can deprive you of necessary freedom to continue their bidding.
            .
And excuse me to say that, but that in my mind is a pretty stupid punishment.

          • RedSky

            Some call themselves SnowBirds.

        • toolrat

There are lots of names. Some nice, some derogatory. It’s a mindset of a survivor. Survivalsherpa.WordPress calls it a possum mentality. Read the article about it. In business and life, the big don’t eat the small, the fast eat the slow. The human portion of the food chain is going to change dramatically for the worse. The lower classes will fare much better than the upper classes simply because they’ve got a lot more experience at getting by with next to nothing. No big mental shock for them. The sheeple? They’re gonna get caught flat footed. The middle class is well & truly screwed..

      • RedSky

More people are doing it because it makes sense not because they have no alternative. Why should we pay into a system that only punishes hard work and responsibility? Let the mega rich carry the burden. Living off the grid with solar and wind kinda appeals to me.

      • cash out time

I’m getting an RV (no real estate or school taxes), and solar panels on the roof to power it and converting it to electric hybrid.

      • retired22

Sounds like the ‘Grapes of Wrath’ updated.
The Okies, desperate & the out of work farmers fleeing the ‘Dust Bowl’ to get whatever they can in California!

        • JEFFREY

… it took world war 2 to develop a , “Middle Class” thereafter …

      • Mondobeyondo

You mean like picking lettuce or oranges? There are plenty of people in this country who do that – although many of those people are immigrants (illegal or otherwise). Not many native born Americans are willing to work that hard for minimum wage.

    • Mike Smithy

You speak truth. However, it is also important to note that the Baby Boomer Generation will go down as the most greedy, self absorbed, selfish and short sided generations in American history for what they have done to subsequent generations. As a Baby Boomer myself, I hold my head in shame.

      • CharlesH

I could not disagree with you more. I am a “baby boomer”. I worked hard every day of my life, paid taxes, contributed to society, obeyed the laws and did what was expected of me. Now that I’m older – I’m somehow the bad guy in all of this. I call BS…a HUGE BS!

        • europa3962

          Ditto

        • Archer

“I did this. I did that.” Typical baby boomer response. Yes YOU, singularly may have done the right things in your private life, but quit pretending your generation isn’t a giant embarrassment. You voted for these programs that were doomed to failure for decades. Your generation screwed up rasing both late X and Y. Your generation presided over the worst growth of industry and government wide corruption in history, and your generation is the one in office, driving us off the cliff. And it will be your generation who moans and complains and demands that mine pays for you in your old age because you didn’t have the balls to reform SS and Medicare, and now they’re bankrupt.
Wake up dude. My generation is likely to be declaring war on yours in the next few years.

          • Steeve Girard

            Yes!

          • durango

How do you think they’ll declare war? Abuse people in old people’s homes, or something?

          • Archer

Don’t be so unimaginative. It’s simple. Once enough boomers are out of the work force, generation X, who universally despises the boomers, and generation y, who universally resents the idea of paying for boomer profligacy, will simply seize political control and vote to cut the boomers benefits. Duh. Not saying it’ll be successful, but look at the average age of the politicians promoting real budget cuts, they ain’t grey hairs. Boomers only chance at SS and Medicare is a totalitarian state printing money out the wazoo indefinitely.

          • Bill the eighth

It would be nice if you knew what you were talking about. Then maybe we could actually have a conversation.

          • Bill Colley

Exactly the baby boomers who pulled up their socks tucked in their shirts and did exactly what was expected of them these are the ones who dont care about leaving their grandchildren is debt. Now they still think what they did was moral. A generation of yes men and women who left their family members in debt slavery is what they will be remembered for.

          • James

Cut SS and Medicare and fund education

          • Bill the eighth

Well, what a lovely collectivist response, you must be a democrat or a republican.

          • JEFFREY

… this could happen ; as we will be in the way ! There is a different God getting ready to show itself these days

          • K

Another troll, with a brand new account. What you say is meaningless. As you are just reading from a script. You are just here to mislead, and spout nonsense.

          • greyprepper

Lol are you kidding me? That comment was dead on!

            Simply dead and moronically stupid.

          • Archer

Right. Reading from a script. Couldn’t be because I forgot the password to the original email I used for my old account and it was easier to make a new one. Nope. Has to be a paid troll trying to scare you. Keep telling yourself that moron.

          • Bill the eighth

Don’t worry, we see you for what you are, a spoiled brat millennial who refuses to grow up.

          • CharlesH

That’s quite a list but let’s first start with the in your face obvious. Have you been to your doctor lately?

          • cash out time

You really don’t wanna see an old dude kick your butt back to Gen A do you? 😉

          • Archer

Lol. I wish youd do that with a good 60% of my generation.

          • napkinlad

what did the great george carlin say about boomers?

          • oneblueduck

we fought like hell against your list of grivances………too many in power sold us out

          • Archer

Bull crap. A few of you may have. YOU may have, and if you did, I salute you. But your generation at large is brainwashed and basically retarded…. Known too many boomers to believe otherwise.

          • Mike Smithy

Are you sure that you did everything you could? I know that I could have done more in retrospect.

          • Redneck4

We have a two party, winner take all political system. Both have been bought and paid for the FIRE industries., They promise one thing and then do the other. They are the only choices you have. Tell me what else you could have done that was doable. I posit there was nothing you could do after the system was purchased by the .001%.

          • cherihart

that’s the truth, so many old people get free crap and, AND live off nice retirements, while the 40-55 age is too old now. We get hired on line. Well it will crash down, and the old fukers that live to be 80 will take money from the young kids who can’t afford it, PS we keep jobs a few years if lucky enough to find one, the new global economy is wrecking us, close the borders

          • retired22

            War?
The Moderns don’t know how to fight except with big talk,..you don’t have the grit for war!

          • pnoldguy

My goodness, the moderns need a “safe space” to go to so they won’t be offended. War? HaahaaHaa

          • Stan

You need to go where the sun doesn’t shine DUDE.

          • socalbeachdude

Your generation is nothing but a bunch of ignorant lazy stupid louts comprising the most ill-informed, ignorant, and uneducated generation ever seen in the history of the US as your comment clearly affirms for all to see.

          • Archer

I wouldn’t disagree with you about my generation. But uh, you raised us. So enjoy the seeds you sowed.

          • RomeoOscOscSierraTangoEchoRome

If I had raised you I’d have sewn your mouth shut. Your parents obviously let you fly and be free. I personally along with my Wife raised 2 fine young men who are respectful college grads. Good luck Archie, your gonna’ need it!

          • pnoldguy

Me too Rooster. Mine is an Air Force Pilot, not living in my basement.

          • Mark

I am a generation Xer and have an econ/marketing degree and MBA. I am also pursuing a PHD program in PA. Many GenXers are very educated. My wife has a chemistry degree and is a registered RD. Over 80% in my HS class has a college degree. We graduated about 320. One of my friends graduated with an engineering degree and flew jets in the Gulf War. He did work for Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia.

          • pnoldguy

Are you saying you represent the MAJORITY of Gen X’ers?

          • Mark

Statistics show 35% of Gen Xers have college degrees. Baby boomers at 29% and Millennials at 19%. However, the Millennials will surpass everyone in the next decade and will be the most educated.

          • pnoldguy

And my generation is the ones “clinging to our guns and bibles” while your generation wanted to make history and gave us Barack Obama. Voting has consequences!

          • donor_kebab

Your generation is hooked on drugs and social media AND you have the gall to declare war on geriatics???

          • empty pockets

I believe neither in collective salvation nor collective guilt so stuff a sock in it. Step one to restoration and recovery: personal responsibility. Look it up if you haven’t heard the term.

You want collective guilt–look no further than your fellows, your own peer group. You will find it extremely difficult to locate an ounce of common sense among them. And each generation has gotten “progressively” worse…by progressive ideological design.

You, a typical airhead, is the result. At least I now know who Barry, the Community Organizer in Chief was talking to when he said “you didn’t build that”…it wasn’t US because WE DID. He was talking to you and your whiny peers.

Want a better world? Get off your butts and build it, invent it, create it…and for the love of any and all good sense do NOT elect or assist in electing any more progressives/collectivists of any color of party hat. They’re killing us all. We’ll throw out more crooks and corruption with every unconstitutionally overreaching agency we shutter.

          • Redneck4

Give us some details of how we are to buck the system. Slogans and platitudes won’t do it.

          • empty pockets

First understand that we have not had true capitalism for at least the last century. We’ve had an increasingly corrupted version where biz and gov’t collude. Free trade deals aren’t about “free trade”. They’re about picking winners and losers on a more global scale and people like us are the losers. Friends of the ruling elites are rewarded, enemies and competitors are punished or merely hindered until they shut down. Federal government MUST be reduced or it will smother us. It was meant to set restraints on abuses by business, not help them abuse by becoming co-conspirators.

Changing it can be begun only after people understand what is wrong. Two things we CAN do now which would make a big difference and get us at least headed back in the right direction: 1) elect a constitutional conservative president (and support similar people all the way down ballots) to start restoring constitutional balance to gov’t and begin yanking that parasite OUT of our lives in all those places where it never should have been. BIG job which took since our founding to screw up. We’d see some relief in the economy fairly quickly with a dedicated effort (such as Cruz’s) to secure our borders (as the laws already mandate) and prosecute those putting illegal invaders above Americans. He’s already said the unconstitutional rules/regs/eos, etc will be nullified…more breathing room for businesses which would open up jobs. We are currently having more biz closings monthly than opening. There is no way we can keep surviving that way. 2) Should have been first but start with yourself. Personal responsibility for yourself–honestly–and spread it around. If you have kids then to them and to friends. I accept that most of the problems I’ve had in my life were the result of my own choices just as were my successes. I’ve analyzed them and work to not repeat the former while trying to keep repeating the latter. That’s true personally, professionally and in the wider sense. As I’ve been fortunate enough to survive my errors I came to realize getting ahead isn’t about affixing blame. It has its uses but fixes nothing unless used to remove dangerous incompetents from positions of power over others they will harm.

Consider that I grew up in the deep south deep in hurricane/tornado country long before FEMA was even a leftist wet dream. We went through Betsy–the eye went directly over our house. The damage was extensive and no one expected gov’t to swoop in and “fix” anything. Neighbors got together and helped each other. WE cleared the roads of debris, helped neighbors get their homes closed to the weather, shared food–the adults and the kids. We have to get back to that.

We all have been indoctrinated to varying degrees in the last decades and increasingly we’re being conditioned to just give up. Become dependents on strangers far away who neither know you nor care about you. We’ve also been conditioned to think all meaningful changes must be big, macro. But a lot of small changes, “micro”, are doable and add up to meaningful because–and here’s an old saying that became an old saying because it’s remained true—success breeds success.

Big changes need to happen but so do small ones which will help pave the way for some of the big ones. I can only do what I CAN but I WILL do that. If you do the same and your friend does the same…

This country has not been sabotaged by a majority but by a dedicated relentless minority over time. The homosexuals are just 3% more or less yet look at what only the radicals among that tiny minority have done. The progressives, while increasing are still not the majority. WE are, those who want America to be somewhere at least in sight of “Constitutional Republic” again. We might live long enough to see a decent beginning…or YOU might. But if WE don’t start it, no one will see it again for a long time.

            Sorry for the book length…;-)

          • Redneck4

            I understand.

I say that we do have true capitalism and the result we should expect in the end. Technology has hastened that end result. Sure, lets elect better candidates. The problem with that is that both parties are in the pocket of the capitalists and they have constructed the system to eliminate any chance of a third party candidate. We can only vote for candidates we are allowed to vote for.

Our owners certainly want the government reduced considerably. Then they have fewer to bribe and more wealth to accrue.

Friends of the ruling elite? No, puppets of the capitalists describes the relationship much better.

Remember that line from the movie The Usual Suspects where Spacy’s character said that the greatest trick the devil pulled was to convince the world he didn’t exist? Well, the greatest trick the .001% ever pulled was to have us completely ignore them and blame their puppets in government.

I sympathize with your views but I feel you don’t realize where the power really lies. It lies with a small handful of people

          • empty pockets

Of course it lies with a relative small handful of people–all globalists with their own agendas. But “true capitalism” is not consistent with “politicians in the pocket of capitalists”. See that is CRONY-ist which is corrupted, not “true”. Gov’t and biz must work together but as friendly adversaries, each acting as counterbalances to the other just as media was meant to be watchdogs of them all. They’ve all abdicated their responsibilities to become a corrupt “gang”. “Good fences make good neighbors”, while true, also applies here. There were separations between various sectors of gov’t and private sector–fences if you will–which have fallen into disrepair or just torn down. They must be re-erected, mended…and those who breach them must feel bad consequences to motivate them to stay in their own “patch”.

Our “would-be owners” do NOT want gov’t reduced–not “considerably”…not at ALL. They want it grown. The larger the ‘garden’ the more room for weeds, especially toxic ones to grow unhindered. As federal gov’t grows it sucks power away from state and local gov’t and the people…that’s intended. CONTROL of the “workers of the world” is their intent. They can’t rule the world and control everything without controlling the people–US. That takes gov’t, all media (to spew propaganda), schools (for indoctrination)…it takes having growing tentacles into every sector of society to reduce our choices, restrict us further–CONTROL. Since those who think they own us intend herding us, we must be nothing like cattle or sheep…and a great deal like cats and chickens and wild hares.

Those you call our “owners” wish to be invisible to us, sight of them obscured by political puppets–lots and lots of them. They are cheap enough trinkets to buy considering those puppetmasters are dealing with multiple trillions.

Before America, individual rights were unknown. Living in poverty and servitude their entire lives was the norm for all but the very top. America changed that. Shall we just give up and let it fall back into that old pattern without resistance? I won’t.

Thanks for the discussion. Be well, redneck.

          • Redneck4

What they did was vote for people who said one thing and then did the opposite. You will do the same. Of course you need someone to blame, someone who is easily identifiable. Someone to hate.

Has it ever occurred to you that it is the economic system and not individuals that is to blame? Any system that allows a small number of people to amass enough wealth to purchase the political system is bound to end up as ours has.

          • pnoldguy

Like Charles, I started mowing lawns for 50 cents an hour when I was 12 and because it was at a state park I had to have a SS number. Now that I’m 70 I’m STILL working and still paying taxes. Don’t blame this crap on me or Charles. If it was up to me I’d shoot everyone in office and start over. Just because you think your vote counts doesn’t mean we all do.
When the snake oil salesmen and scammers found out government was the safest place to ply their trade, the country started its death spiral.

          • elf

I don’t subscribe to your guilt or shame. I I I I I was responsible financially, civically and politically and me me me me did NOT contribute to this mess. I spent my life fighting it.

          • Bill the eighth

Typical millennial, it is always someone other than your own, fault. Your generation is the most selfish, molly coddled, lazy, shiftless generation to ever come down the pike. We could blame the so-called “greatest” generation for all that befell us too, but we are not that shallow and self loathing. Grow up and grow a pair. Stop your incessant whining and become an adult.

          • Avrie

Baby Boomers were the greatest in history. They didn’t expect the world to give them hand outs. They worked hard & made something of themselves, This generation is the entitlement generation. They are given too much from their successful parents. They are handicapped. When anything gets hard & require work they give up & whine. You sound like a typical cry baby. Go suck on your pacifier & have a pity party.

        • RedSky

True. The BBs (especially the younger ones) are being raked over the coals. We fought in Vietnam, went to college and worried about the environment and population explosion long before it was fashionable. Some BBs sadly followed in mom and dad’s footsteps only to find raising a family in the US a nightmare.

        • Mike Smithy

I as well worked hard every day of my life. I too paid my taxes, contributed to society, and obeyed the laws. However, did you do everything in your power to stop the socialist and fascist takeover of our once great nation. Did you vote in every election? Did you properly vet every candidate to the best of your ability before you voted for him or her? Did you routinely write your congressman and protest the idea of NAFTA, CAFTA, TPP, the repeal of Glass/Steagall, the global warming farce or runaway government spending? Did you take the time to talk to your friends, family and neighbors about the dangers of socialism, communism and fascism. Did you do everything in your power to call out and expose the dishonest media for who they are? I can honestly say that as a Baby Boomer, I fell short of the aforementioned responsibilities and I suspect you fell short as well. Therefore, we are part of the problem that has lead us to where we are today.

          • cherihart

AAAAAAAAAAa plus plus ok just got schooled myself, I”m 48 and I”m in between , and let me say I GET SO UPSET ABOUT THE SHEEP BEHAVIOR, MIKE HAS IT RIGHT , everything RIGHT< our parents fought for us and we let a dictator come in and sit idol. it's so sad. THANKS FOR THE WRITING THIS IS SPOT ON,

          • Redneck4

“Did you routinely write your congressman and protest the idea of NAFTA, CAFTA, TPP, the repeal of Glass/Steagall,”

All the above are examples of top down socialism. You people have no idea what socialism is or the many forms of it. All you know is what you have been taught by the worlds most efficient propaganda machine. That machine could convince you that “apple pie” is the most evil thing imaginable. I gotta hand it to them. They did a good job on you.

        • Ed

You “paid taxes, contributed to society, obeyed the laws and did what was expected of me.”
Therefore you are an enabler of a parasitical “society”.

        • Paul Robinson

I think the generalization regarding the Baby Boomers is correct. Of course there are many individuals from that generation that worked hard and never went in for the hippie dippie nonsense.

        • Bill Colley

You claim you paid taxes, my question to you is, TO WHOM DID YOU PAY TAXES TO, WERE THESE TAXES EXTORTION OR DID THEY HAVE YOUR CONSENT WITH FULL DISCLOSURE. only one question for ALL you self justifying fools. Correct moral action should question if paying these taxes was in deed a correct moral decision.

      • K

Rare time we disagree. I agree with Charles. Let me add. We stopped an unnecessary war. And some of us died stopping it. And not all of us, were so enthralled with money. All generations make mistakes. The one before us, missed Eisenhower’s warning. They foolishly bought into Kennedy, being killed by a lone gunman. So no one is perfect. But point out one thing, the generations after us did. To keep America from falling to its’ present state.

        • Steeve Girard

Hippies and John Lenine is BULLCRAP!

          • K

How does that relate, to anything I wrote? It does not. Just here to cause trouble? Is that supposed to be a pentagram? I only know of weak people, that use that symbol.

K dont be concerned this guy Steve Girard is a total loser…… he TROLLS on this Christian based blog site calling people with a Christian base THE TROLLS…..last time I encountered this bongo head he was lecturing about the US Constitution and he is Canadian but he told me he has American relatives.

Ha ha I am not a religious person at all but philosophical and biblical and a researcher who has studied the books.

You on the other hand are a uneducated unintelligent gross vulgar hexagram toting WANNABE rock star …with nowhere to go on a Friday Nite but to this blog site.

Go put on some hemorrhoid cream and sit on your hexagram and chant to Azzazel……

          • Steeve Girard

The day you are gonna be able to name 3 different 1, 3, 7 dymethil-xanthanes, is the day you’re gonna grow a bit more brain! And maybe more when you’re gonna name 4 configurations of silicate crystals.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Maybe you could chant that to AZZAZEL while sitting on your hexagram……..you are still rude crude and vulgar with no etiquette or style….blow out a good guitar riff to AZZAZEL maybe he will hire you as the bass man in “The Band from the Pits of Hell”

          • Steeve Girard

You lack contact with Nature that is around you. You only know stuff that is dictated by human reference. I pity you the day that culture will fall to pieces due to poor anchoring in reality.

You must smoke some really powerful stuff…….

            You are in gonzo land….

And Christians do not troll on this blog…. YOU follower of AZZAZEL are the TROLL

          • Malcolm Reynolds

Hey, I think it’s time you go see your local pedophile in his desk (pointing to a public school, whose sex problems eclipse those of the church).

          • Steeve Girard

LOL!!!!! Good one! You by this insult just, made me laugh.

          • Plextt Plextt

A lack of comprehension typically and expectedly generates HATE! =)

          • Steeve Girard

In this case it is not a lack of comprehension that generated the rant. It’s the intellectual laziness, of the common people that triggered it. Because not many people are able to perceive multi- dimensionally, the consequences of not listening, or understanding examples of the past.

      • Mark

I agree with you totally. Baby boomers had the most opportunities handed to them only to piss it away. Not all baby boomers are in this category and know many good people from this generation. I am a GenXer and was laid off from 3M last month along with 1500 others. Not good. I have a bachelors, MBA, and am looking at PHDs programs. In the last 30 days I have applied to 60 jobs only to be disappointed. Why, we have the boomers still working because they did not save enough.

However, if you look back to the 1960s and 70s the baby boomers have had the most wealth transferred to them from the World War II generation. My generation has had the least and we have had less job opportunities. Also, look at what came out of the 60s!!!!! Social unrest, liberalism, socialism, the great society programs that have bankrupted our country. All those liberal hippies are teaching at our schools and universities pushing liberal nonsense to the younger generations.

We are now seeing the hangover of what that era has produced….More liberalism, socialism, failed schools, higher crime, more drug use( hippy habit), failed inner cities, more crime, and etc.

Sorry boomers but that’s how many in our generation see it. The same ones that spewed hatred towards Corp America and the US. Government with all the protesting especially against our poor Vietnam vets has benefitted the most. I am saddened and disgusted. Now the same narcissistic self righteous crowd of that generation has benefitted from Corp America by corrupting Wall Street, wanting more big government, and demanding the best paying jobs. Look at Bernie Sanders…A typical Baby Boomer that never did jack squat but live off the tax payers and promote socialism. Oh, he lead many protests in the 60s. And he may become our president. Well, this says it all. How scary. Now I am convinced my Rome is falling.

        • K

For the record, I never protested against a vet. I protested against a Government, that was getting them killed, for no good reason. My question stands. What have any of your generation done, about anything? You have all been adults for quite some time. What is your excuse? I am also sure there are exceptions. But let me tell you, how many of my generation view yours. Digital heroes, real life zeros.

          • Mark

The boomer motto SEX DRUGS and ROCK n ROLL. Our generation didn’t have mommy and daddy send us to college to avoid a war. Your the coward generation and spoiled. Now we have to pay for your SS which will drain the system. Ya the 60s man. How sad that your generation followed the WWII generation.

          • K

Sorry I did not go to college. My parents were poor. Nope no social security either. Never paid in. Still have not answered my question. What has your generation ever done? All Governments have to be resisted to some extent. Or they get out of hand. My generation resisted. Things are getting so much worse. Because your generation has resisted nothing. And they know you never will. So may your chains rest lightly upon you. By your lack of action, you have earned them.

          • Mark

Our generations will never respect each and we can keep going back and forth with factious comments as yours,”By your lack of action, you have earned them.” Just remember for the past 15 years my generation and others have been fighting terrorism around the world. We were not out protesting or hiding in Canada. Many in your generation avoided action so I wouldn’t be making that comment. A fox always smells his own hole. Now go away because it is worthless discussing anything with a boomer. I have cousins from that generation which fit that mold and I do not need more boomer nonsense.

          • K

Really, you have been fighting terrorism. You know the U.S. helped form, and supply ISIS. We had no reason to go into Iraq. And it is beyond pathetic, we are still in Afghanistan.See that would have had my generation take to the streets. But you just keep buying all the propaganda, you are being fed.Perhaps you should check with a defense contractor. They are always hiring. Good luck, you are going to need it.

        • cash out time

Sorry to hear that Mark. Why were you laid off from 3M with 1500 others?

          • Mark

Our division was losing revenue for the past 3 years at 20%. They had some global layoffs last year too and people were nervous. Basically slow global & domestic economic demand in many industrial markets. The big wigs have to make the margins so they can receive those large bonuses. A few receive millions why 1500 become jobless. Go figure but that’s where the economy is heading along with Corporate America.

      • Rhino Horns

The problem is world central banks, and the corrupt governments that support them. They print money for their banker cronies, which over time, devalues your wealth.

      • Archangel150

You have just a perfect analysis, Sad but very true so send your message loud and clear DO NOT VOTE FOR THE BUSH FAMILY THEY ARE FREE MASONARIES,THEY FATHER BUSH TALK ABOUT THE ONE WORLD ORDER!!!!!ALSO THE CLINTON ARE RIGHT BEHIND THEM DO NOT VOTE FOR THEM LOOK HOW AT HER HUSBAND VERBAL COMMUNICATION VERY LOW KEY!!!!VOTE FOR RUBIO OR TRUMP !!! • retired22

their main problem is that they have no discipline & no mental toughness to survive hard times!
And also,…they have no apparent employable skills that anyone would care to pay for.The people who spent a bundle of money on a ‘Liberal Arts Diploma’ can’t produce anything that can be sold for a profit!

        • Terry

We are Human Beings. NOT Human Doings. We were not put on this earth to produce anything or create wealth. We were put on this earth to learn lessons in order to advance our souls. We are all here for soul evolution. This is a school. A place where we reconcile,, and hopefully help others along the way.

          • retired22

O.K.,I read your message,…now tell me in English what it is that you are talking about?

      • socalbeachdude

What on earth are you talking about? What have they done at all to any subsequent generations?

      • RedSky

The BBs were the first generation to raise environmental issues and in the 1990s America had tough legislation passed to clean up our water and air which was successful. It was in the 2000s that massive deregulation of utilities and energy sectors by the Bush administration which set us back again. BBs have also been advocates of organic and nonGMOs. Just 2 examples of what BBs have done. BBs have had their hearts and minds in the right place so I would not hold my head in shame. It’s been a battle against environmental concerns and the mega industrial complexes of the world to make big profits at the expense of people and the environment. I don’t think BBs are inherently greedy or self-absorbed but just wanted to have enough for themselves and their families which is not a lot to ask.

      • Ben

The student debt is going to have ripples affects and repercussions for half a century if we don’t let the financial system collapse. We will be Japan with lost generations. If the system crashes we would be back on top in 24 to 48 months. If they keep printing money we could get progressively worse for 2 decades.

The minute someone graduates from high school, they can expect to go into debt at some point in their life, unless they had planned VERY carefully beforehand. The debt traps are many, but the most common ones are student loans, mortgage and credit cards. Welcome to the 21st century.

Thank god that my parents pay for all my college tuition.

    • Estaphulous

I believe that if you average it out, college debt is in the range of 20k to 35k, that is commensurate with the price tag on a new car. If you fix loan repayment rates to a sliding scale based upon employment salaries, much of the debt could be repaid over a period of 10 years.

Every American has been taught and told time and again that “History repeats itself.” so most feel that they have a thorough understanding of this “overused” phrase. However, they don’t seem to understand that it can repeat itself in our lifetime and they prove this by labeling those that do understand “Conspiracy Theorists”. Someday soon, everyone will truly understand the phrase and it won’t by comfortably flipping the pages of a history book.

I call it the “tiger by the tail” economic situation.
The proverb being an image of a man grabbing a tiger by the tail and spinning the tiger as fast as one can to keep the tiger from reaching back and killing the man.
IF the man tires then he is dead. IF the man stops spinning the tiger he is dead.
Thus is government the man spinning the tiger.
And when it stops the tiger will have its due.
In this case, inflation as more and more money chases fewer and fewer goods in the market place.
Yet printing the money to pay the debt if only the interest on that debt is necessary in order to keep the debt from becoming the tiger no longer spinning by its tail.
It doesn’t matter at this point in time who is in charge because the tiger is still there and will be there for the foreseeable future.
Now how does that effect the wealthy?
Well the worth of the money is how. Because if it devalues too much then all that wealth disappears overnight.
So the billionaire class either gets out of the dollar into a stable currency like the Swiss one or they find a way to fix the situation.
Thus you have a billionaire running for President with the hope of millions that he can actually fix the unfixable and stop the tiger by the tail situation.
The opposition int his case is a socialist/communistic solution in which we change the rules so that more people are caught up in a government dependent economy. I predict if elected that what ever value is left in the economy will disappear.
Meantime back at the ranch of the Republican Party the rank and file are horrified with the idea of a BIllionaire outsider coming in and taking over the show. This establishment class wants nothing to do with the necessary changes to keep the tiger at bay.
The tiger is still swinging by the tail and unless someone comes up with a solution the entire mess will come down on all of us.

    • Scott Comin

We are created in flesh and blood with a soul and spirit. We are separate from God The Father.

Yahwah (God)The Father is a Spirit, Yeshua (God) The Son is Spirit and Flesh,
Ruach HaKodash is The Holy Spirit
We have a triune God of three parts.

“Don’t you know ye are Gods ” in The Bible the word God is used as a TITLE and can mean authority or leader etc.
In The Bible the name Yahwah refers to Creator God.

Remember Zeus was called a God and Allah is called a God as it is a TITLE….. but Our Creator has a name and it is YAHWAH and when referring to HIM the BIBLE says Yahwah.
In the original Jewish Tanakh and Torah which we now call The Old Testament the name Yahwah is used to refer to The Creator of All Things.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

The word GOD is a title and not the name of GOD…..it is used to describe ZEUS and ALLAH but they are not the CREATOR GOD.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

God has a name and it is Yahwah and His only begotten son Yeshuah came to earth and died for our sins.

I be a child of God ( Yahwah) saved by the Blood of Jesus (Yeshua ).

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

God in The Holy Spirit lives inside of me because I am “born again”. I asked Yeshua (God) for forgiveness of my sins and to live inside me and be My Lord and Master….that is being “Born Again” and that is ETERNAL.

I am a child of Yahwah (God) and you can be too.

            Shalom

When my daughter went to college, I made a lot of sacrifices so she wouldn’t be saddled with student loan debt.

I watched a woman being interviewed this morning on TV news. She had a six-figure debt of student loans. Still in college. No solid job prospects. But she’ll graduate with a degree in Women’s Gender Studies. Where do you think she’ll work?

Back it the 60’s and 70’s manufacturing was king. Good wages people working very good jobs supporting their families. We paid taxes that supported social security and the welfare required to get a family through the hard times that the families were humiliated by. How many service jobs (lets make it easy; full time jobs) will have to be created to support all the welfare and social security that will be required in the future? Service jobs in Ohio only pay about $8.00-9.00.

    • Steeve Girard

Good wages? The value of currency is a total illusion… we never had good wages since Nixon took down the gold standard.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

Your understanding of how we got to where we are is low info, to say the least.

Manufacturing was sent offshore to be done by cheaper hands, it wasn’t all automated.

I read so much finger pointing and suspender-snapping responses. Is there anyone here who remembers what it took to climb out of the depression? It took a nation pulling together to overcome the bad decisions of an entire nation, old and young alike. When nazism raised its ugly facade my grandparents volunteered to kill it.

Fast forward 70+ years and we, nor our European brethren forge enough spine to deal with the obvious, clear, and present dangers in our societies: ISIS will be given their territory, or borders will remain open, gangs of miscreant refugees will continue to rape European kids, kill those who serve them, while politicisns blather on, the cops do nothing and the populace buries it’s head in the sand, trying to down out the screams of their neighbors.

  • Mondobeyondo

The slowdown is accelerating, all across the board.
The Baltic Dry Index seems to hit a new low each day.
Oil is at rock bottom prices and could go even lower.
Stores are closing. More people are being laid off. And it’s not just the little guys anymore. Even the big boys like Walmart and Sears (which has been in trouble for the longest time), and banks like Credit Suisse are closing stores and laying off employees. This is not normal. Is this “stagflation”? No, it has the markings of a deflationary depression.

Does this sound like a recovering economy to you? If it does, you might need a compass adjustment. Because what you think is up, is actually down, and vice versa.

Agenda 21. Georgia guide stones. The NWO’s actions would sure point to this very thing. There is a MIND behind this march to total domination and it belongs to SATAN. • bob cratchette

Every I ne here can whine and cry all they want to at this point in history there is nothing any of us can do to right this ship that is about to slip beneath the surface but what we can do is stop fighting amongst ourselves and direct our anger and energy where it should be directed at the corrupt system that seeks to enslave us. The whole system of govt from the govt all the way down through the court system is rotten to the core and their is no reforming it as it stands now. The politicians are h app when we fight among ourselves and are divided but when we unite they get very nervous. If any of you here believe what the bible says and what we see taking place is following right along with the biblical script and these things we see happening are way bigger than most want to believe w hg at is happening and being set in motion cannot be stopped but will continue on until it had met it’s end. Many reading this will ridicule and mock but all I can say is wait and see. It will not matter who occupies the white house.

You got it right brother…….the slide is greased and we are coming down and gathering speed and intensity….all in The Bible.

  • Mondobeyondo

By the way, the national debt has just passed the $19 trillion mark.
$20 trillion is only a few months away. Get those champagne bottles ready.

At that time, however, the entire country’s retail and distribution chains may well have ground to a halt. And there’s no FDR in office to give any moral support. The best we’ve got is “Let me be clear. This too shall pass”… *sigh*

  • PressedEarth

I confess, I am a BB. Cancer survivor, 57 YO, No savings, No HS diploma, No college. No mortgage. Worked a full time job since 17. I’m concerned about the way things are in this Country. We can continue to blame one another for the way things are but really, Like my still living 81 YO Father says ” There aren’t any do-overs” This is the only life we have to live and for those of us without resources for alternatives, this is the only country we have. It is prescient upon us therefore to consider our dilemma and search for our friends and allies to weather a storm that is surely coming. I do not welcome collapse or the implications thereof for we are not prepared as a people. The nastiness we display with impunity in forums on the internet will not serve us well when we are face to face with the desperate. Who do you know? Where will you go when the supplies stop rolling in to your city? What’s your plan? BBr’s, GenXr’s,Gen Yr’s, Millenials, News Flash: YOUR “GUBMENT” HAS SOLD YOU OUT. While they were bilking you for every dollar they could via taxes and regulation, subverting your inalienable rights and lying to you at every turn, they were preparing for this day building bunkers, stocking up MRE’s and medical supplies and assembling a police force all paid for with borrowed funds and tax dollars to keep us all in check when the fat lady sings. Oh sorry, They didn’t build you any bunkers or store up any supplies for your survival so I guess you are on your own. Hope we all find the skill and grace to survive such treachery and perhaps find our humanity in the process.

    • SP2300ROFL

No education, no savings and you blame guberment for selling you out. You’re in good company on this board- most were homeschooled drop outs as well. Look in the mirror see who sold you out. Bunkers survival supplies MRE’s roflmao if you can’t adapt and thrive in a sugar coated environment with every imaginable resource available your hunches on saving humanity from “such treachery” seem ludicrous.

      • PressedEarth

You make assumptions. I’m not blaming the Gubment for my lack of formal education. That was my fault and I am not home schooled. That movement came later when I was an adult. There is a saying, ” those that can do” and those that can’t, bash others on the internet”. Whatever assets I gathered up were lost through bad investments, hey it happens, and a bout with cancer and a divorce. In the last five years I have been able to attain mortgage free status and own 21 acres and a 2400 sq ft house and am using my discretionary income to buy tools and equipment so that I can learn the art of producing something that matters. I am skilled labor. Without people like me nothing would move in this country. I’m the guy that builds, wires and plumbs your homes and businesses. I’m the guy that keeps the machines of the manufacturing engines in this country running. No formal education but I know a lot and that knowledge allowed me to land a good paying job in my 50’s after having had cancer and losing everything. Businesses are crying for people like me because there aren’t that many that can do more than bash others on the internet. I am a survivor. 57 years so far. Yeah I sold myself out but it wasn’t for lack of trying. I guess I just had my ladder leaning against the wrong wall. The things I stated concerning the G were my beliefs based on what I see going on around me and what I read. If your assessment causes you to draw a different conclusion about me, the people in this forum, and your opportunities for a future filled with peace and prosperity than I am interested in hearing what you base your opinions on. Concerning saving humanity, that is beyond my capabilities. I will do well to save myself and my loved ones. Perhaps the things I imagine to be so are delusions. Perhaps you are afflicted a similar malady. Time will tell my friend.

OK incapable of learning. Life for you will be a very harsh instructor.

    • Mark

No, as long as our generation never becomes what yours was we will be better off. Now go do what you do best and let your hair grow long and smoke some more weed while taking a hit of LSD. Oh, I am more capable of learning and probably more educated. At least my trillion brain cells were not destroyed doing drugs like yours. How many do you have old fart??? Two cells left. Go back to your hole troll.

      • K

Mark, thank you for participating in my little experiment. So let me sum up. I am an old fart, troll, drug fiend marxist. And you know all of this. Also with a few exceptions. You hate an entire generation.Did you ever share any of these views at work?

        • Mark

The only experimenting you did was drug experimenting. Now go away you crazy hippy.

          • K

            Since you asked so nicely.

          • Mark

            Dear Special K,

Just to let you know I do not hate all baby boomers and know many, especially some brave ones that fought in the Vietnam War. I have the up most respect and sympathy for all our vets. I just do not respect many in your generation or the ideologies from that era. I also believe when our vets came home from Vietnam you do not spit and call them names. This was the era where our country started to fall apart. Most important it was a time when many in your generation supported left wing agenda and propaganda.

You see Special K when you were protesting against the war what I do not understand is why your generation never protested against the Red Chinese, Soviets, and North Communist Vietnam, for invading and starting the war. Why didn’t you hold protests against the true evil countries such as those if your generation was so into love & peace. You didn’t because the one’s in this country that organized those protests were left wing Marxist sympathizers. Did you protest against the Soviets when they invaded Afghanistan??? Noooo….A good example is Bill Ayers who formed the Weather Underground the 1960s and was an admitted Communist revolutionary. No he is a professor that should be in jail instead of brain washing our young adults.

Many in your generation fell for that BS from many Communist sympathizers because that’s how Marxism works. Bill Ayers bombed police and government buildings injuring many and the dopes in your generation applauded him. This is how the left and Marxism works. You infiltrate the institutions of influence such as the media, universities/colleges, government, and judicial systems. Now we have those influenced in that era teaching our kids, working as ACLU attorneys, masking as politicians, and working in the media. Brilliant on the leftist part but dumb on the boomers part. Also, look at history and China/North Korea started the Korean war trying to invade South Korea. Mao, Stalin, Lenin, and Pol Pot, all were Marxist murderers that tortured many but the boomers on the left keep going back to Hitler. Why, because he was perceived as a far right winger. Leftist always associate National Socialism (NAZI) to the conservative movement. However, Hitler was neither and was a true socialist who sympathized with labor unions and many times despised corporations.

Many but not all in your generation love to spit on capitalism, democracy, or anything this country does that protects our freedoms which we have had the opportunity to enjoy for over 240 years.

It is healthy to argue whether to go to war or not.and we did it back before WWII with conscientious objectors but they did spit and protest against their own. They supported by helping the vets and others suffering during those hard times. Mennonites form central PA were known for this.

Is our system perfect.? Absolutely not but it has out performed all other countries and has given us the best standard of living until the last 10 years which is not the system’s fault but leaders that are self indulged narcissists and yes many are boomers but not all. I can tell you having worked for a Dow 30 company 90% of upper management are boomers and many are very cut throat and self indulging yet they share some of the same values you speak of. Strange……
Basically what I am saying is instead of being self indulging and creating a negative outcome there could have been constructive and positive things that brought the country together instead of tearing it apart back in the 60s and 70s

            Food for thought Special K

          • K

Wow, you really are brainwashed. You do not have a single fact right. I lost friends in Vietnam I also lost people I knew protesting Vietnam. The vets were the victims, why would I blame them? You think Vietnam was some crusade to stop communism? There is a very large oil deposit, off of Vietnam. Why do you think Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, and China are arguing over the area. Have you ever tried thinking for yourself? Those who were in charge, during Vietnam. Have since admitted. We might have been there another decade, without the protests. You can not understand why we did not protest other Countries. We did not live in another Country. Now they are talking about staying in Afghanistan for another decade. Can you say, rare earth elements. Since Korea, name me a war we were in. In a Country that did not have something we wanted. Read Smedley Butler. You might learn something.

          • Mark

I know more than you and probably more educated but Butler was a Marine War hero, who of course accused the military industrial complex of attempting to over throw Roosevelt. Bla Bla Bla, you know what makes me laugh about liberal socialists like yourself. Anyone can google and look for subjects that slant towards their political view. You never did answer my question on why Vietnam started? You gave me some bogus left wing answer about being over their because of oil. Everything is oil with you left wingers There is always a reason for going to war but not for that reason in vietnam. Oh, do you worship Bill Ayers????? So you are ok with Communist countries taking over other countries during the cold war times. No problem. You just convinced me how left winged brain washed YOU ARE. Maybe you need to study more history and take an econ 101 course. Why waste my breath on some old fart form the 60s. Worthless.

          • K

You know, I tried to reach you with the facts. No point, you know everything. Wonder why you can not find a job? End of message, you are not worth anymore time.

          • Mark

Actually, I have been interviewing and will have a job. I have a diverse background a advanced degrees. If it were not for the boomers and their self indulgence our generation would not be getting laid off. But since you have no understanding of economics and what is going on in the global and domestic economies its not worth discussing. I would advise you to be more familiar with your era by understanding Herbert Marcuse and the creation of the New Left movement and the Old Left movement. The New Left movement was implemented during the 60s as a new form of democratic socialism vs. the Old Left ideology of a more Stalinist. centralized form of government and movement. Many in your generation adopted the new Left approach while a minority still embraced the traditional Marxist approach as he Communist Party USA organization did in the early 1900s. No other generation embraced this more than yours. Simple fact. Now I am done with you since you old fart hippies are in your own little world.

          • RomeoOscOscSierraTangoEchoRome

            Vietnam=$$$$$$$$ GET IT?

          • Mark

You BBers love to spew about Vietnam. What about all the other wars??? You don’t think money, power, and politics were involved with those wars? Mankind has been fighting for 1000s of years and it will not end. I do not like war but that is how we behave and is human nature. The new left in this country never cries when Cuba, Soviets, or Red Chinese create all the atrocities of the world. That paints an image of your generation siding with Marxism. Its called the new left movement on 1965. Your generation is struggling which concept to accept. New left politics or the Old left ideology.

          • RomeoOscOscSierraTangoEchoRome

Mark is an uninformed idiot. If he knew what really goes on with this and other Govt’s he wouldn’t sleep at night…….I will give him one thing, he sure can type!

I’m guessing Mark just dripped with attitude at work. I wonder how old his boss was? It doesn’t take us bosses long to get the “drift”.

  • Rebel w/out a Cause

As I read through the comments, I realized that TPTB have found yet ANOTHER way to divide Americans – by GEN. The angst is pretty thick. I’m a boomer. In our defense, I want to say that we didn’t “vote” for a lot of the crap that’s been done to our country. Things were done by the government without our consent. What? We ‘could have voted them out’? Look around you. Did your vote have any effect on the TPP? How about the bailouts of the central banks or certain corporations? Did you ‘vote’ for our actions in Libya? Do you see my point? You can blame us for all kinds of things, and I guess we could theoretically then blame you for ISIS, the current economy, and having Obama as POTUS. But it’s pointless.
I’ve done my part. I’ve worked hard since I was 14. I’ve paid a huge amount of money to the government in taxes. But on the other hand, instead of buying more crap, I’ve invested in my kids. They’re either already graduated with degrees, or are working on degrees, and they aren’t saddled with debt. So at least they’ll have chance. Not all boomers are bad people…

    • retired22

The key fact is that the older generation couldn’t do anything because up to about 15/20 years ago, since the beginning of the internet,we had no real information to work with.We didn’t know what was going on because we had no access to reliable information,we couldn’t act on issues that we didn’t know existed.
All we had were the lying slimeballs in the Media who fed us nonsense instead of real information. In retrospect, what we received from the MSM was just as bad as what was being put out by Izvestia & Pravda in Russia!

Read SP2 posts to PressedEarth and retired22……the NERVE of this loser.

And how badly he refers to Michael and the POSTERS on this site…..the NERVE of this loser.

            My Opinion:
SP2 is an out of work Financial Advisor from a co. like Janney Montgomery Scott JMS. SP2 is cut and pasting the scripts that are GIVEN to the JMS FINANCIAL lol ADVISORS. Sometimes these scripts are updated twice a day.

These scripts are what is used when an existing JMS customer calls in for consultation or for a new JMS PROSPECT. These scripts are always deliriously optimistic and that is what SP2 posts.

I would think that you would REALLY be TIRED of SP2 multiple posts… like last week when SP2 and cheeseball ( or meatball lol) went back and forth and back and forth about 10 times like this was THEIR blog site not Michaels.

But this blog site is Michaels who SP2 shows no respect for…..so you can huff and puff all you want you can even pee in your pants….I support Michael and those honest and informational posters who routinely get APPROVAL flags.

Look through and see how many approval flags you or SP2 receive lol. Haha my thought is that SP2 will spout that he does not care about approval flags because the visitors to this blog are not intelligent enuff to recognize HIS BRILLIANCE………..lol in script reading.

Maybe you will need permanent PAMPERS for men after reading this post.

            Sorry to be so truthful…..

I’ve commented here for a long time among many other places. I stopped over on CNBC in early December due to incessant and stupid attacks by MARKET PUMPER NINNIES AND NINCOMPOOPS who were so clueless and dimwitted that it wasn’t worth the time and effort to even attempt to educate them. All my comments there stand perfectly correctly and were quite prescient as to the market collapses across the board as well as Federal Reserve interest rate hike on December 16, 2015 that occurred subsequent to then.

As to gold, it is indeed on its way towards and to its mean of $456 per ounce and then headed lower and silver is on its way towards and to its mean of $8 per ounce and then headed lower.

  • dlewenz

It is hard to believe that since the last crash of 2008 global debt has increased by 58 Trillion!, Which totally backs up Michael’s warning of how bad it is going to get. Once the banks start imploding in the EU, China will fold like a deck of cards right behind the EU and the USA banks will stop making any transactions. This freeze in commerce will be historical.

“Screaming on the sidelines”. And there is where your guilt lies.
And don’t give me the internet excuse. Yes you were lied to, but it’s been generally known for decades the finances were broken and the next generation was screwed. It was just basic math anyone could do. Average Boomer response? “Balance the budget long term but don’t cut MY benefits. Also, I want you to buy 10 new aircraft carriers”
Please. That excuse doesn’t hold water.

    • Redneck4

No one ever demanded new aircraft carriers but the weapons industry. Do you really think demanding our pensions be abolished while a tiny number of billionaires have more wealth than the rest of us combined would have helped? Of course not that “savings:” would have gone where all the rest of the wealth has gone….to the .001%. The only benefit to you would be the satisfaction of seeing the rest of us starve.

Wrong again. It is amazing how misinformed young people are. We had all that crap shoved down our throats, just as today we had no say in the matter. I have been calling for the reduction of the military and an end to SS for over 30 years and and no one seems to listen or care. Your excuses for being shiftless and lazy don’t hold any water with me.

Back to the Foundations of the Rule Of Law. Based on the Constitution. All un-constitutional laws being repealed. I am with you. No retirement plan other than to grow my own food and barter. Not counting on SS. No guarantees it will even be there. Lord knows I’ve paid in a bunch though. I agree about the content of the internet in recent years. Has gotten way better. I find You Tube to be a great resource for so many things I want to know about. Have taken a real interest in Permaculture and self sufficiency. In 1956, a guy with a college education (or even a high school education) could get a decent job that paid well enough to support his wife, a couple of kids, and have enough left over for a house and new car. The wife in many cases, didn’t work..
Try doing that in 2016. To say there hasn’t been a decline in the standard of living, would be to deny reality.

    • Mark

Absolutely, and looking forward to it. Corp America sucks and has been screwing the common guy for about 10 years. The globalists and government are doing what they intended to do and that is eliminate the middle class. As we see more layoffs accumulate this year unemployment will be back around 8 – 10% which is the fake U3 number. U6 is more accurate but then again the Labor Participation Rate is what really measures real employment. Not much opportunity unless you want to work for a lot less. All those big shot CEOs need to make their margins so they can collect their big million $ bonuses like those fearless leaders at 3M. Spend billions on buybacks to artificially raise the stock price and then lay off 1500 to show you are cutting costs. They saved about $100 million and spent $billions on buybacks. All shady financial engineering. Just like the FED and their trickery with QE and interest rate manipulation.

The only answer I see is to find a way to stop playing their game. How do you vote with your dollars? Do you shop at Walmart? I know I do but at a bare minimum. Hard or impossible to find domestic goods. Especially textiles, electronics and footwear. We have to become producers again and make the hard choice to support our local economies to the best of our abilities. Can we go Galt? Can we create a parallel and vibrant economy? I don’t know the answers to these questions but when the prevailing system collapses we will be forced to not only fight for our survival but will have the opportunity to rebuild on the the rock solid foundation of the “Rule Of Law” May the God the gave us unalienable rights empower us to regain what has been, by subterfuge, taken from us.

  • PressedEarth

Perhaps it is transition into cycle 6 that has so many of us so concerned. I appreciate your informational and constructive post. Don’t know if it was cut and paste or not but it was good food for thought. I think for many of us we sense a conspiratorial oversight of this transition that intends to determine winners and losers. Have you heard of Harry Dent? He is a demographics guy. No conspiracy here just data. He talks of the effect of aging populations like the Boomers and the change in spending habits. He contends that the hard fact of demographic shifts can not be mitigated through government intervention or manipulation. I think 20 trillion dollars in debt is the governments attempt to maintain the status quo and in essence kick the can down the road rather than allowing free markets to pick winners and losers. Hence massive bailouts at the taxpayers expense. I have the opinion that governments attempts to fix a problem usually creates 2 to solve the one they intended to solve in the first place. Many of us feel that the losers that have been picked by what we would consider to be the elite of this planet are us, the middle working class and poor. We are expendable and no provision has been made for our long term survival. This has been financed with borrowed money and tax dollars. conceived and implemented by our transparent elected/appointed and corporate owned bureaucrats in secret backroom deals that have to be voted on and passed before we can know whats even in the legislation. Some of this is so onerous that we can’t even know the content of the deal for 5 years. Now why wouldn’t they want us to know what they, our employees, are doing to us? Just sayin’. Again, thanks for putting some thought into your post. I hope that your response will be as cogent and pertinent as well should you choose to have one.
