28 Good Questions That The Mainstream Media Should Be Asking

Why is there so little trust in the mainstream media these days?  CNN ratings have been hovering close to record lows over the past few months.  A recent Gallup survey found that 60 percent of all Americans "have little or no trust" in the mainstream media.  That was a record high according to Gallup.  So why is this happening?  Sadly, the truth is that the mainstream media quit telling the truth a long time ago.  The mainstream media has an agenda, and more Americans than ever are beginning to recognize this.  Once upon a time, control of the news in the United States was at least somewhat decentralized.  But now there are just six giant media corporations that control almost everything that we see, hear and watch.  The version of "the news" that they give us is designed to serve the interests of those corporate giants and the other corporate giants that spend billions of dollars to advertise their products through those outlets.  Watching the news on television can be an extremely frustrating experience these days.  Yes, there are little bits and pieces of the truth in there, but you have to wade through an awful lot of "infotainment" to get to those bits and pieces.  That is one of the reasons why the "alternative media" has absolutely exploded in recent years.  The American people are hungry for the truth, and they are increasingly turning to alternative sources of news on the Internet in an attempt to find it.

We live at a time when the world is changing more rapidly than ever before.  Just about everything that can be shaken is being shaken, and anyone with half a brain realizes that we are heading for challenges that previous generations never even could have imagined.

There certainly is no shortage of news, but instead of focusing on the terribly important issues that we are facing, the mainstream media feeds us an endless stream of fluff, scandals and celebrities.

Just check out some of the headlines that I found on the front pages of major mainstream news websites today....

"Man Dies After Roach-Eating Contest"

"Ex-NFL Cheerleader Admits To Sex With Minor"

"Facebook Rolls Out Pinterest-Like Tool For Buying Stuff"

"Grumpy Cat Becomes Internet Sensation"

So what should the mainstream media really be talking about today?

The following are 28 good questions that the mainstream media should be asking....

1. Why is the IMF warning that there is an "alarmingly high" risk of a deeper global economic slowdown?

2. Why is Switzerland preparing for "major civil unrest" throughout Europe?

3. If the Spanish financial system completely collapses, what is that going to mean for the rest of Europe and the rest of the globe?

4. Is Turkey about to drag the rest of NATO (including the United States) into a war with Syria?

5. Why aren't people screaming in outrage about the fact that the U.S. national debt increased by more than a trillion dollars for the fourth straight year in 2012?

6. Should we be concerned that the U.S. government added more to the U.S. national debt on the first day of fiscal year 2013 than it did from 1776 to 1941 combined?

7. If temporary refinery problems can cause some gas stations to shut down and cause gas prices in California to skyrocket to all-time highs, what would a real crisis do?

8. Why are some analysts predicting that a "rapid collapse" is coming for the U.S. dollar?

9. Will the U.S. dollar soon lose its status as the primary reserve currency of the world?

10. Why is Marc Faber warning that the wealthy "may lose up to 50 percent of their total wealth"?

11. By keeping interest rates near zero, is the Federal Reserve crushing the retirement dreams of millions of elderly Americans?

12. Why do Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and most members of Congress continue to stand behind the TSA when nearly 400 TSA employees have been fired for stealing from travelers since 2003?

13. Why are nearly half a million employees of the federal government making over $100,000 a year?

14. How in the world can you have a debate about the economy that lasts for an hour and a half and never even mention Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve or quantitative easing?

15. Why are Romney campaign signs being smeared with excrement?

16. British taxpayers spent 57.8 million dollars on the royal family in 2011.  U.S. taxpayers spent 1.4 billion dollars on the Obamas that same year.  How in the world can this be justified?

17. Why does the U.S. government treat our military veterans like garbage?  Many of them have given everything for their country.  Shouldn't we treat them with more respect?

18. Why is the mainstream media ignoring a warning that an international gang of cybercriminals plans "to steal money from the online accounts of thousands of consumers at 30 or more major U.S. banks"?

19. The New England Complex Systems Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts is warning that rapidly rising global food prices could soon lead to massive food riots all over the planet.  Is this something that we should be concerned about?

20. Why is the United Nations pushing to have the authority to impose "global taxes" on all of us?

21. How did we get to the point where sex trafficking is now at epidemic levels all over the United States?

22. Why are so many young people being arrested?  Should we be concerned that 41 percent of all Americans have been arrested by the time they reach the age of 23?

23. Why are most Americans either overweight or obese or severely obese?

24. How was one Baltimore woman able to accumulate 30 free cell phones all paid for by the federal government?

25. Why are nearly 30 percent of all young adults in the 25 to 34 year old age bracket living at home with their parents?

26. Why has the birth rate in the United States fallen to an all-time low?

27. With the race for president incredibly tight right now, will the side that loses end up accusing the other side of using voter fraud to steal the election?

28. Is the U.S. Supreme Court about to make it illegal to resell our own stuff at yard sales, in thrift stores and on eBay?

Do you have any questions to add to this list?

Why absolutely no mention what so ever about Monsanto. Banned in foreign countries, rats with horrendous tumors, cattle herds all dead from eating Monsanto corn, Monsanto fighting hard & spending millions in numerous law suits and Monsanto is even sueing Vermont I believe.

One more thing, when did 11 cases of any illness turn into a CDC Health Emergency as an Epidemic. (I thought it would require many more deaths to qualify as an epidemic).

People, they are still using fear to control us. Stop taking it. Laugh at them. It is high time to begin to change your lives and while doing that, clean out the garbage, there is a lot of garbage.

  • Douglas Gray

A recent study of the U.S. drone strikes in Pakistan reveal that only about 50 high level operatives have been taken out, along with 168 children who have been killed by these strikes. Is killing, on average three children for each high level terrorist morally and ethically justified? It would be wonderful if this question could be put to both Presidential Candidates during the second debate.

  • Bobby

Sure, I have one. Why in this economy does the U.S. import one-million people a year, and give illegal foreign nationals from Mexico and other nations, every thing under the sun, including jobs, social services and standing in this country, often greater than American citizens. In California for instance, a three strikes law is in effect on CITIZENS, BUT ILLEGAL FOREIGN NATIONALS ARE EXEMPT. The cops wont’ even bother with their criminality, etc.

  • Bobby

Here’s another question. Why does every government building in California, every store, and every fricking product in a supermarket have to have Spanish as a second language? This has been an English speaking country for over two hundred years, and it seems Americans from everywhere in the world have been just fine with it. What’s going on?

    • Ghulam

Why is it Bobby that Americans are willing to support Israel to the tune of many hundreds of billions of dollars on the basis of dubious land claims going back 2000 years and yet you object to Mexicans with land claims every bit as legitimate and only going back less than 200 years having the right to maintain their language? They are in fact not making any claims but securing recognition for the language that was the lingua franca in California until very recently and which a substantial portion of the population of that state, stolen from Mexico not long ago, do speak today.

The day when Anglos were gods free to take over most of North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, Ceylon, Ireland, etc, etc. they seem to be drawing to a close. None of the periods of Viking control in the Mediterranean lasted very long either. The coming financial bubble catastrophe will offer grand theatre for those at a safe distance as New York and London are brought low. We can already taste the bitterness in the air in every current encounter with American and British arts, the cynicism, the death fixations. Lance Armstrong is a fitting symbol of American achievement on all fronts during their brief time in power; better living through chemistry.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

“object to Mexicans with land claims every bit as legitimate and only going back less than 200 ”

Which lands are those? You mean the country founded after this one? You mean the country whose lands were no more legitimately acquired than this country’s? You mean the country that either sold or lost because their mouths were writing checks their backsides couldn’t cash?

        Just go read it yourself.

    • Mondobeyondo

      1) California is very close to Mexico
      2) Mexicans consider California part of their territory (yes, even after the Mexican-American War)
      3) Mexicans want to take over Hollywood

    • Come On

The argument against having gov documents in other languages ALONG with English is pretty bratty. English speakers can still navigate what they need to navigate and the additional costs of including other languages is worth it to ensure full inclusion of all citizens. That’s the point right; the whole point of the US? To have everybody included, all voices heard and everybody has a chance to do what they will with the level playing field? Or do you really believe the original intention of the US is toward bitter, isolationist scaredy-cats who are afraid of everything they don’t understand? And so our society is driven by all of the reactions to that perceived fear and that’s why we shoot each other so often, say hateful things and look for reasons to stand apart from one another.

  • Popeye

The MSM could also ask, what ever happened to free press in this country? Investigative journalism?

  • David Sheridan

Why does the federal government treat someone who commits a few hundred dollars in food stamp fraud more harshly than someone who commits tens of millions of dollars in mortgage fraud or medicare fraud?

  • Jeffrey Wolenski

    14. How in the world can you have a debate about the economy that lasts for an hour and a half and never even mention Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve or quantitative easing? Or our massive trade deficit?

  • MvM

Have you guys seen the articles lately? It’s all about how the country is heading towards a disaster and that Washington isn’t doing anything at all about the problem. I have the feeling that very soon the One World Order will be at hand, otherwise, the liberal whacko website that it is, wouldn’t normally post such dire topics.

Meanwhile, the stupid, fat Canadians I know think everything is in a recovery, haha. It’s funny how Canadians make fun of Americans when they are just as stupid and fat themselves. Traveling to other countries during this depression has sure opened my eyes to how stupid people are in general all over then planet.

    • MvM

Meant to say New World Order in my comment, but I guess it’s the same thing — New World, One World, sorry about the typo.

      • Mondobeyondo

I think you meant to say “New World Odor”. Hehe.
        Yes, the whole concept stinks.

  • bmn

Why did the EPA send officers armed with automatic weapons into Gibson Guitars, in Nashville, shut down the company, confiscate their inventory, and attempt to put a fine, upstanding small American company out of business?
    Were they terrorists?’
Were they making atomic bombs in the basement?

Will candidate Romney pledge to find out who all the federal personnel were on this raid, from the very top to the very bottom, and FIRE them all? And make sure they never work in government again? Will he be willing to make a commitment that says that any
federal official who sees it as his mission to “crucify” American businesses, is fired?

    • Patrick M.

This had something to do with Gibson illegally importing some endangered wood product from Africa or something like that.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

        “Gibson illegally importing ”

Which they promptly proved false. In addition, they promptly proved this administration was enforcing Indian law, not American law.

        • Come On

The US is in treaties it has to honor. Balancing US interests with allied interests is the heart of diplomacy. Don’t overreact.

  • Christie

    Why don’t they cover this:

  • Christie

Why don’t they cover what’s really happening regarding money in and money out (the economy) of the United States?

  • Jeremy

strange that you complain the MSM does not talk about these issues even while you provide direct links to said issues on msm websites.

  • Mondobeyondo

Why don’t they cover ANYTHING that actually matters?

Walter Cronkite… oh, how we miss you…

  • risa bear

    29. Why were 97% of the world’s climate scientists ignored by government, the media, AND THIS LIST, and vilified by a major political party gone almost completely anti-science?

  • Mondobeyondo

Another decent news source is the Daily Mail (U.K.)

Why do I like it? Because the Beatles mentioned it in “Paperback Writer”:

“It’s a dirty story of a dirty man
And his scheming wife doesn’t understand
His son is working for the Daily Mail
It’s a steady job, but he wants to be a paperback writer…”

No, that’s not the real reason I like the Daily Mail. It’s because it’s not totally celebrity gossip trash. They often do break some major news stories. And much of what they publish (at least online) isn’t found in most U.S. news outlets.

But it does have its share of celebrity gossip trash. If you want to know Lindsay Lohan’s bra size, or Justin Bieber’s shoe size, I’m sure you can find it there somewhere.

  • BFH

Want to know why this nation is faltering? Just read the comments. People of like minds can’t even get along!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Alan

Do you all really live in democratic societies in the west?

  • Come On

The amount spent on the Royal family versus the Obamas is a red herring. We change our head of state & head of government every four or eight years. Every element of security is refreshed, changed, updated and improved at least each time. The Royals aren’t the head of government and the family only changes with divorces, marriages and births. This is a huge false equivalency argument. Don’t let silly fake arguments like this distract you.

  • LordRhynn

It’s stuff like that that continue to get rating however. I for one don’t believe the people want truth. Those who demand truth don’t do so gradually. Over time. There is only “this is not the truth”, and an immediate effort to remedy such.

  • Walks-In-Storms

Everyone, please look up the logical fallacies of composition and division. Even were you to prove that one Democrat (or Republican) is a liar or reprobate otherwise, it would prove absolutely nothing about the rest. And even if it could be shown that most Republicans – or rich men (and women), or poor men, or men who don’t care, one couldn’t use the statistic to prove any one or more Republicans (or Democrats) were lying.

Come on, people – that most of you are going to vote, knowing damned near nothing about useful debate principles and reasoning, and absolutely (unless the media has somehow failed in its efforts with you, that is) nothing about the issues, is damned scary for one like me. I’ve been helping pay for this countries parasite government and constituents all my life, more taxes than most people will earn in total during ALL their lives, and I’m damned tired of it.

THINK! Even as bad as you are at it, it might at least help a little.
