America You Need To Lose Weight: At Least 1 Out Of Every 5 People Are Obese In All 50 States

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Overweight Kids Become Overweight Adults - Public DomainThe United States officially has an obesity crisis.  According to a brand new report that was just released by the Trust for America’s Health, at least one out of every five people meet the clinical definition for obesity in all 50 states.  But of course in some states things are far worse than that.  More than 35 percent of all adults are obese in four states, and the obesity rate is between 30 and 35 percent in 21 other states.  And it is important to keep in mind that just needing to lose weight does not mean that you are obese.  According to the CDC, you have got to have a body mass index of at least 30.0 to meet the clinical definition for obesity.

Each year, the American people spend 60 billion dollars on weight loss programs and products.  That breaks down to about 188 dollars for every man, woman and child in the country.  We are a nation that is absolutely obsessed with losing weight, and yet obesity levels are hovering near all-time record highs.

But some parts of the U.S. are definitely doing better than others.  The following is an excerpt that comes directly from the new report

In 2015, Louisiana has the highest adult obesity rate at 36.2 percent and Colorado has the lowest at 20.2 percent. While rates remained steady for most states, they are still high across the board. The 13th annual report found that rates of obesity now exceed 35 percent in four states, are at or above 30 percent in 25 states and are above 20 percent in all states. In 1991, no state had a rate above 20 percent.

Did you catch that last part?

I put it in bold for a reason.  To me, it is absolutely incredible that no state in the entire country had an obesity rate of more than 20 percent just 25 years ago.

How is that possible?

How could obesity explode to such a dramatic level in just a couple of decades?

Well, a lot of it has to do with what we eat and drink, and I will have some comments about that below.  But first, let’s take a look at some more statistics from this new report.  It turns out that there seems to be a significant link between obesity and poverty

  • 9 of the 11 states with the highest obesity rates are in the South and 22 of the 25 states with the highest rates of obesity are in the South and Midwest.
  • 10 of the 12 states with the highest rates of diabetes are in the South.
  • American Indian/Alaska Natives have an adult obesity rate of 42.3 percent.
  • Adult obesity rates are at or above 40 percent for Blacks in 14 states.
  • Adult obesity rates are at or above 30 percent in: 40 states and Washington, D.C. for Blacks; 29 states for Latinos; and 16 states for Whites.

The report also noted that it has been estimated that our obesity epidemic costs the United States somewhere between 147 billion dollars and 210 billion dollars every single year.

That is an enormous amount of money, and if we were all a bit healthier it would benefit our society tremendously.

Sadly, as a society we have fallen into some very bad habits.  For example, the new report also found that the number of high school students that play video games for at least 3 hours per day “has increased more than 88 percent since 2003 (from 22.1 to 41.7 percent)”.

When I was in high school, almost all of the kids couldn’t wait to get outside and play after school.  But these days most playgrounds are parks are eerily silent most of the time, and even if kids wanted to go use them the truth is that many of them aren’t very safe.

In the old days, parents could let their kids go outside and play freely without having to worry about it.  But in 2016, many of our communities are infested by addicts, gangs, sex predators, etc.

But that is a topic for another article. Last year, Gallup also did a survey on obesity, and what they found lines up with this new report very well…

-The national rate of obesity has risen to an all-time high of 27.7 percent. That is up from 27.1 percent in 2013, and it is much higher than the 25.5 percent number that we were sitting at in 2008.

-At 19.0 percent, Hawaii has the lowest rate of obesity in the entire country.

-At 35.2 percent, Mississippi has the highest rate of obesity in the entire country.

-The rest of the top 10 includes West Virginia, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa and Missouri.

And remember, being obese is different from being overweight.

According to CNN, an astounding 70 percent of all Americans are overweight at this point.

Let that number sink in for a moment.

70 percent.

So how did this happen?

Well, our addiction to sugar plays a major role in this.  If you were just to make one change to your diet, you could immediately start living a much healthier lifestyle.  What I am talking about is soda.

Many people that have cut all soda out of their diets have immediately started losing weight, and they often report feeling much better too.

Other people have actually decided to completely cut all sugar out of their diets, and needless to say the health benefits have been nothing short of astounding.

If you know me, you know that I like sugar, but I try to keep it at a very reasonable level.  But that is difficult, because sugar is in just about everything.  And if it isn’t sugar, it is some other type of sweetener such as high fructose corn syrup.

There are others that know much more about these things than I do, but I just wanted to share with you a couple common sense things I have learned over the years that can immediately help you if you are interested in a healthier lifestyle.

Another thing that is a huge menace is pork.  All meat is not created equal, and if you eat lots of pork you should know that you are on a highway to high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.  Pork is one of the most toxic things that humans consume, and once you learn all of the things that pork is infested with you will likely never want to eat it again.

Of course cancer loves sugar too, and so it is no wonder why we have a cancer epidemic in this country.  If you can believe it, Americans spend 100 billion dollars a year on cancer drugs alone.

We are literally digging our own graves with our forks, knives and spoons.  What we eat and what we drink are the biggest reasons why we have an obesity epidemic in this nation, and if we will just take a few common sense steps we could start turning around this crisis tomorrow.

Although Joseph recognized his brothers, they did not recognize him. 9 Then he remembered his dreams about them and said to them, “You are spies! You have come to see where our land is unprotected.”
13 But they replied, “Your servants were twelve brothers, the sons of one man, who lives in the land of Canaan. The youngest is now with our father, and one is no more.”

You will notice, most of the states that are the worst. All have a high level of poverty. Fruits and vegetables used to be one of the cheapest thing you could buy. Not so much anymore. So the less you have to spend, the worst the food you eat. I have seen people subsisting on bologna, yellow cheese, and potatoes.Because that was all they could afford. So as more and more people fall out of the middle class. Get ready for the obesity levels, to go even higher.

    • kfilly

That is very true. A lot of families are struggling not only financially, but they are also struggling for time. A lot of these processed meals are cheap, easy to make, and can be prepared quickly. All of that stuff is poison.

      • anonymous

Right, not to mention that processed foods last longer. It is cheaper to keep foods that don’t spoil, even though they don’t offer much nutrition. Fast food isn’t even cheap anymore but it is still fast, you know how we love our instant gratification.

        • Richard O. Mann

You can take a mule to McDonald’s, but you can’t make him eat a Quarter Pounder with cheese, extra large fries, and extra large coke. You may have to throw in a Hot Apple Pie to get him to chow down. Yes, we are the product of the fast food, microwave, don’t have time for a full meal right now, generation. Back when I smoked, I was told I needed to stop. So, by the grace of God, He delivered me from cigarettes and such. But, after that food, and I do mean all food, tasted sooooo good. I was about 180 pounds when I had my last smoke. I hit a high of 285 10 years later. I have lost back down to about 245. Now diabetic, but that is also a generic trait from my mom’s side of the family. So, maybe I should have kept smoking? Either way, sooner or later, one way or another, I will die. But since I am a Son of God by faith through Christ Jesus, that ain’t no big deal. To live is Christ, and to die is gain. Take care and have a salad for me.

20 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.22 Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son, 23 and I told you, “Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’”
At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses[b] and was about to kill him. 25 But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it.[c] “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said. 26 So the Lord let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.)

They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs. 4 The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’”

5 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’”

6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land. 7 But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts; they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

Now the Lord had said to Moses,.. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.
but the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let the Israelites go out of his country.

The Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread

12 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb[a] for his family, one for each household.

On the first day remove the yeast from your houses, for whoever eats anything with yeast in it from the first day through the seventh must be cut off from Israel. 16 On the first day hold a sacred assembly, and another one on the seventh day. Do no work at all on these days, except to prepare food for everyone to eat; that is all you may do.

          • SnodtBlossom

2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?”
            “A staff,” he replied.
Moses threw it on the ground and it became a snake, and he ran from it. 4 Then the Lord said to him, “Reach out your hand and take it by the tail.” So Moses reached out and took hold of the snake and it turned back into a staff in his hand. 8 Then the Lord said, “If they do not believe you or pay attention to the first sign, they may believe the second. Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”13 But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”

14 Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well.

          • mtntrek3

Why is it you quote Scripture when you say there is no God, Sunny…. or have you decided otherwise? Yes, Moses was a reluctant leader. God often times uses ones that consider themselves “unfit for the job” so to speak. For one thing…. I’d say this is because those that think they are ready for the job could be over confident…… and they could put their ego and own opinions/methods in the place of God’s. God respects the humble while resisting the proud.

          • SnodtBlossom

20 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded. He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood. 21 The fish in the Nile died, and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water. Blood was everywhere in Egypt.

22 But the Egyptian magicians did the same things by their secret arts, and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the Lord had said. 23 Instead, he turned and went into his palace, and did not take even this to heart. 24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water, because they could not drink the water of the river.

          • mtntrek3

Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites, 30 and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people, 31 and they believed. And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.

24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”

27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”

          “Jacob,” he answered.

28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[f] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”

29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.”

But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there.

30 So Jacob called the place Peniel,[g] saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.”

31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel,[h] and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

31 These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned:

33 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king.

Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, 41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, 42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, 43 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied.

33 He recognized it and said, “It is my son’s robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces.”

34 Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days. 35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.” So his father wept for him.

when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats. 18 But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not.

Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere, 19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the Lord had said.
20 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him,”If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses”
. “‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the Lord, am in this land. 23 I will make a distinction[b] between my people and your people.

26 Judah said to his brothers, “What will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood? 27 Come, let’s sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood.” His brothers agreed.

28 So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels[b] of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.

29 When Reuben returned to the cistern and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes. 30 He went back to his brothers and said, “The boy isn’t there! Where can I turn now?”

53 The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end, 54 and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food. 55 When all Egypt began to feel the famine, the people cried to Pharaoh for food. Then Pharaoh told all the Egyptians, “Go to Joseph and do what he tells you.”

56 When the famine had spread over the whole country, Joseph opened all the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians, for the famine was severe throughout Egypt. 57 And all the world came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph, because the famine was severe everywhere.

9 So the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream.
12 “This is what it means,” Joseph said to him. “The three branches are three days. 13 Within three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your position, and you will put Pharaoh’s cup in his hand, just as you used to do when you were his cupbearer. 14 But when all goes well with you, remember me and show me kindness; mention me to Pharaoh and get me out of this prison.

16 When the chief baker saw that Joseph had given a favorable interpretation, he said to Joseph, “I too had a dream: On my head were three baskets of bread.[a] 17 In the top basket were all kinds of baked goods for Pharaoh, but the birds were eating them out of the basket on my head.”

18 “This is what it means,” Joseph said. “The three baskets are three days. 19 Within three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and impale your body on a pole. And the birds will eat away your flesh.”

The king of Egypt said to the Hebrew midwives, whose names were Shiphrah and Puah, 16 “When you are helping the Hebrew women during childbirth on the delivery stool, if you see that the baby is a boy, kill him; but if it is a girl, let her live.” 17 The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. 18 Then the king of Egypt summoned the midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”

19 The midwives answered Pharaoh, “Hebrew women are not like Egyptian women; they are vigorous and give birth before the midwives arrive.”

20 So God was kind to the midwives and the people increased and became even more numerous. 21 And because the midwives feared God, he gave them families of their own.

You can call “BS on the poverty thing”–but statistics are overwhelmingly supportive that obesity is exponentially increased with poverty.
Granted, having money does not preclude one from making poor life choices for nutrition and proper exercise, but there is abundant evidence that the impoverished are generally unhealthy.
There are few options for those just trying to stave off daily hunger, and those options are almost always processed fatty foods with limited nutritional value.
A poor person will see a 2 for $5 special at the fast food place and be happy to fill their stomach. An upper middle or wealthy person who goes out to eat finds a sit down restaurant with balanced meals and properly portioned menu items.
The wealthy will order spring water with lemon or a glass of wine with dinner–the poor will have the large Coke, sweet tea, or Mt Dew with free re-fills…
Nope, the facts don’t lie–there are always aberrations to the general rules with humanity, but when viewed in large scale numbers, the trends are clear.
        Poor equals eating poorly.

Michael, While I agree with you about the problems of obesity, but I wish you would put it into a different perspective. I’m in Australia and sadly we have the same problem. It is having huge economic impacts. (Its your economics blog after all) The health system is groaning from the “weight” of overweight and obesity related diseases. We have higher rates of heart disease and we have huge costs for new drugs and treatments for these conditions. We have even found that hospitals are having additional costs due to replacement of beds for heavier patients because the old one’s wont cope. We have diabetes rates rising, faster and a lack of exercise due to inactivity is causing increased cancer rates. (exercise causes increases in hormones like irisin which effectively fights cancer) The losses in productivity is “growing”. Obesity has become the growth industry of our time! My friend is a personal trainer and its been great for him. However, he laments that the people who need training most wont budge and even do some exercise!

34 Now Dinah, the daughter Leah had borne to Jacob, went out to visit the women of the land. 2 When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and raped her. 3 His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob; he loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her. 4 And Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Get me this girl as my wife.”

5 When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he did nothing about it until they came home.

6 Then Shechem’s father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob. 7 Meanwhile, Jacob’s sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were shocked and furious, because Shechem had done an outrageous thing in[a] Israel by sleeping with Jacob’s daughter—a thing that should not be done.

8 But Hamor said to them, “My son Shechem has his heart set on your daughter. Please give her to him as his wife. 9 Intermarry with us; give us your daughters and take our daughters for yourselves. 10 You can settle among us; the land is open to you. Live in it, trade[b] in it, and acquire property in it.”

11 Then Shechem said to Dinah’s father and brothers, “Let me find favor in your eyes, and I will give you whatever you ask. 12 Make the price for the bride and the gift I am to bring as great as you like, and I’ll pay whatever you ask me. Only give me the young woman as my wife.”

13 Because their sister Dinah had been defiled, Jacob’s sons replied deceitfully as they spoke to Shechem and his father Hamor. 14 They said to them, “We can’t do such a thing; we can’t give our sister to a man who is not circumcised. That would be a disgrace to us. 15 We will enter into an agreement with you on one condition only: that you become like us by circumcising all your males. 16 Then we will give you our daughters and take your daughters for ourselves. We’ll settle among you and become one people with you. 17 But if you will not agree to be circumcised, we’ll take our sister and go.”

18 Their proposal seemed good to Hamor and his son Shechem. 19 The young man, who was the most honored of all his father’s family, lost no time in doing what they said, because he was delighted with Jacob’s daughter. 20 So Hamor and his son Shechem went to the gate of their city to speak to the men of their city. 21 “These men are friendly toward us,” they said. “Let them live in our land and trade in it; the land has plenty of room for them. We can marry their daughters and they can marry ours. 22 But the men will agree to live with us as one people only on the condition that our males be circumcised, as they themselves are. 23 Won’t their livestock, their property and all their other animals become ours? So let us agree to their terms, and they will settle among us.”

24 All the men who went out of the city gate agreed with Hamor and his son Shechem, and every male in the city was circumcised.

25 Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob’s sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male.

The fact of the matter is we are a nation of laziness, you do not need a gym membership to walk around your neighborhood for half an hour a day. You can drink water with lemon, vs. soda. You can buy bananas for 52 cents a pound. Brown rice with yellow onions a dollar a pound. Chicken thighs at my market are 65 cents a pound. The point is, eating healthy is not expensive, it comes down to common sense and making healthy choices. The health care cost to treat this portion of the population will skyrocket health care cost over the next 10 years.

The problem I see is wheat.
You get off the mutated wheat produced by Genetic modification and the problem virtually disappears.
The original wheat was good for you. It was a staff of life. The current variety has double the chromosomes of the old wheat. It is a death sentence yet the grocery stores are riddled with wheat products.
If you want to go that far the diet in the old testament forbade many foods that are in common use today. It is called the Moses Diet.
It actually forbade the eating of pork and pork products.
Many common foods like shrimp and oysters were also forbidden. Makes sense really. Autopsies in this country reveal a startling fact. Over 60% of the people dead given autopsies had parasites in their bodies.
Shrimp and Oysters are the pond filters of creation. Their main function is to unpollute our waters.
Shrimp fishermen often take their catches out to clean water for 24 hours and then it passes inspection as the shrimp dispose of the bad water in favor of the clean water.
Pork still has parasites in anything under about 450 degrees F. ovens.
Many pork eating people around the world rely on very hot peppers to help keep the parasites at bay.
As an American Culture we are a mixed bag. Simply because so many cultures are mixed in together here.
Yet any Muslim will tell you we follow the Moses Diet and restrict all unclean foods.
Peter in the Bible supposedly in a time of extreme famine okayed the use of pork as a food.
Or was it one of the Popes?
There are two laws here. One of the Bible old testament and one of the new testament. Yet where it violates natural law, I feel they are wrong.
Our diet consists of way too many unclean foods. And that is the cause of a whole lot of problems with diabetes, heart problems, and cancer.
In the case of cancer we as a people are extremely vulnerable because of the high sugar content of all of out foods, especially restaurant foods.

Short of growing ones own organic food, in a controlled garden environment whereby all watering with municipal water is cut out; one can do a few simple things to change their health and that of their children in just a few weeks.

The first, is to fix the biggest problem which is the daily intake of chemical laden municipal water, aka tap water.
with a $200,00 investment in a counter top distiller, problem solved.

Second is simply to eliminate soft drinks completely, especially for children, and substitute with pure orange juice and drinks without corn syrup, such as tea with a small amount of honey and sugar added.

Thirdly; cut out fast food that uses enriched white bread.
Replace enriched bread at home with whole wheat and better yet, grind ones own wheat and make healthy homemade breads.

There is the fourth element of beginning the practice of healthy eating, and that is to eliminate 90% of all pork from the diet. 100% fat free lean cuts of pork chops a couple times a month and bacon fried to complete crispy textures, and cleaned of grease, will greatly improve ones energy and heart health.

As for the elderly, try to eliminate pork, except maybe the crispy bacon once a week, completely.
It was very bad for human consumption when Leviticus was written by God, and it is still very bad today.
Probably worse today because of the bad chemicals in their feed.

    • JC Teecher

“Peter in the Bible supposedly in a time of extreme famine okayed the use of pork as a food.

Yes, there is scripture where Peter is referencing the eating of unclean foods. But it was only a vision in reference to Peter calling gentiles unclean. Here is the verse that explains why and what Peter was being taught by comparing gentiles to uncleanliness.
      Act 10:28
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

The most common error in the teachings by ignorant preachers is the fact that they do not read the following verses correctly.
The key part of the first verse is to pick up on the part…”which God hath created to be received”, with emphasis in understanding. God did not create “scavengers” to be received, but to clean up filth.

      1Ti 4:3
Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
      1Ti 4:4
For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
(and it is a creature…created to be received/consumed/eaten)

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense since life expectancy for men and women are about four years higher now than in 1990, and cancer deaths year over year have actually gone down according to the CDC. I don’t doubt the obesity stats either because of the increase in sightings of extreme Wal-Martians driving the hapless electric carts, fat rolls gloobing over the seats as the little-carts-that-could struggle to convey their gargantuan pastrophodons through the grocery aisles. I was 85 pounds overweight in 2010, did Atkins, lost 85 pounds in 8 months and have stayed low carb since then, workout daily and have kept it off. I am EXTREMELY fond of sweets and cheat only during Thanksgiving, which I call Pie One, and Christmas, which I call Pie Two (thanks to Mrs Logger who is a dangerously good cook). I cheat the rest of the year with stevia in my coffee. I can’t point a finger at anyone else who has weight issues since I desire way too many groceries myself. I just know what I did to lose weight and to feel MUCH better and what I have to do to be vigilant lest I turn right back into a tub of goo. So far so good but I likes me the food.

Corporations continually have to show profits for their shareholders. So the idea is to get us to eat as much of their food as possible. This is done by using hunger-inducing substances, such as MSG. And MSG is disguised under about 17 different names.

Sugars also appear under various names. Did you know that by law they have to list the ingredients in the order of their quantity? Now there may be up to 4 different kinds of sugar in there, each with a different name. That way, none of them end up too prominent in the ingredients.

One rule of thumb is, if you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it.
Also, if you look at a simple bag of corn chips ate Trader Joes, you’ll find a short, simple lust – sometimes even just 2-3 ingredients on some items. Then there are those lists of ingredients as long as your arm.

11 Judah then said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, “Live as a widow in your father’s household until my son Shelah grows up.” For he thought, “He may die too, just like his brothers.” So Tamar went to live in her father’s household.

13 When Tamar was told, “Your father-in-law is on his way to Timnah to shear his sheep,” 14 she took off her widow’s clothes, covered herself with a veil to disguise herself, and then sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah. For she saw that, though Shelah had now grown up, she had not been given to him as his wife.

15 When Judah saw her, he thought she was a prostitute, for she had covered her face. 16 Not realizing that she was his daughter-in-law, he went over to her by the roadside and said, “Come now, let me sleep with you.”

“And what will you give me to sleep with you?” she asked.

17 “I’ll send you a young goat from my flock,” he said.

“Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?” she asked.

18 He said, “What pledge should I give you?”

“Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand,” she answered. So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she became pregnant by him. 19 After she left, she took off her veil and put on her widow’s clothes again.

I’m all about legalizing marijuana, but it certainly won’t help with this epidemic lol…

TPTB produces toxic food, air, and water for the masses to consume. Was any other result expected? I think not.

Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior then repent. God Bless you all.

The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. 8 So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 9 10 So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”

12 And God said, “I will be with you. And this will be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you[b] will worship God on this mountain.”

It’s technology. It was supposed to be so great for us. Keep us closer in relationships, but we talk less and text more. Texting is very impersonal and I know I can hide behind texting. Kids play games and look at their phones. Do they ever wonder how those things work. No, just throw the old one away for a better, new shiny toy. Same with our marriages and the word patience is a cuss word. It’s sad. Jesus weeps. The shortest sentence in the bible. Whoa….. I’m reading and actual book!

16 “Go, assemble the elders of Israel and say to them, ‘The Lord, the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—appeared to me and said: I have watched over you and have seen what has been done to you in Egypt. 17 And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—a land flowing with milk and honey.’

18 “The elders of Israel will listen to you. 19 But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless a mighty hand compels him. 20 So I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.

21 “And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. 22 Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.”

I can personally attest to the harmful impact of soda and processed food. Because of my job, I’m always on the go and always ate on the go. I got addicted to fast food and washing it down with a coke or sprite. Sure enough, I developed a fatty liver and acid reflux. I ended up with sleep apnea, high insulin and always feeling like crap. I had to implement some lifestyile choices and I m finally reversing my fatty liver and my acid reflux is nearly gone. Within time, I hope to start exercising to melt the excess weight that has accumulated on my torso.

It was a painful lesson but a very good one at the same time. I hve become educated in nutrition and how to care for my body. Health really is the greatest wealth. Despite the fact there is fast food and junk all around us, at the end of the day, we are still responsible for the choices we make.

  • Michael Dubin

Michael, in previous articles you wrote that people are suffering from “food insecurity”. How can a country be both fat and hungry? Mind you, most of the fat are poor.

    • df NJ

Fear makes people eat. Our religions are not providing any comfort for us to combat the insecurities of the modern world. We need a newer better religion that actually works. Or philosophy if you are atheist.

        • JC Teecher

It’s here Bill. The mega churches are preaching a doctrine of prosperity, rather than a Christ doctrine of repentance. Many have accepted the falseness of a liberal ideology/ mindset, that is pushing to turn North America into a House that worships Idols, in place of God, and follows the laws of Satan’s abortion, Sodomite, and Molech worship, in place of God.

It can only escalate from here unless they start allowing sexual orgies at church to honor Easter fertility rites, instead of worshiping the Trinity through the celebration of Passover and Communion. Then it would be a full return to the days of Jezebel and Elijah.

Why even write about this in the first place? I can understand articles about war across the world, the failing economy, various satanic practices that takes away from our Judeo-Christian heritage, etc., but this is so out in the open that any person can see it with their own eyes.

I read an article somewhere that if the same criteria as used today (2016), as in the 50s, by various government organizations (kind of ironic that this government data is ACTUALLY THE TRUTH) such as the National Institute of Health (founded in 1887), then 90% OF AMERICAN WILL BE OVERWEIGHT!!! If that is the case, I would think that a least half are OBESE.

The criteria was purposely lowered to make the problems seem less. We think 1 out of 5 is a lot? If we used the same medical exams, formulas, statistical calculations, etc., as in the 50s, then it would be 9 out of 10 are overweight and 5 out of 10 that are obese.

I look around (when at the beach or public shower) and see exactly that. Practically everyone is overweight and half are obese. It is disgusting. I don’t want to be in the same water, pool, crowed room at a party or meeting, etc., with those kinds of people. They stink, because of all that extra fat, and sometimes end up hurting me when they bump up against me. And then when the food come out, they don’t think twice about gorging down on everything that made them like that in the first place. Then it becomes depressing if one of them is a friend and he will never listen to you about how to change their life for the better.

One simple solution to start to change things: next time they get on the bus, train, plane, whatever, charge them double, because they take up two seats. Since they add more weight to the plane, allow them only one check in, even if they are willing to pay for the second one. On the other hand, if someone is light weight, give them the second piece of luggage for free as a reward.

I don’t think this is discrimination: this is pure business. Why should someone who is like two people get to pay once? And people like me, only 130 lbs, pay full price? By the same linear price scheme, I should pay 50% if someone that is like two people pay 100% If I can’t get 50%, then give me the second piece of luggage for free! I know many people who agree with me and think this should be the policy of all airlines. What do you think?

5 Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the wilderness.’”
Get back to your work!” 5 Then Pharaoh said, “Look, the people of the land are now numerous, and you are stopping them from working.”
6 That same day Pharaoh gave this order to the slave drivers and overseers in charge of the people: 7 “You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw. 8 But require them to make the same number of bricks as before; They are lazy; that is why they are crying out,
19 The Israelite overseers realized they were in trouble when they were told, “You are not to reduce the number of bricks required of you for each day.” 20 When they left Pharaoh, they found Moses and Aaron waiting to meet them, 21 and they said, “May the Lord look on you and judge you! You have made us obnoxious to Pharaoh and his officials and have put a sword in their hand to kill us.”
22 Moses returned to the Lord and said, “Why, Lord, why have you brought trouble on this people? Is this why you sent me?
6 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country.” I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they resided as foreigners. 2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. 6 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord commanded them. 7 Moses was eighty years old and Aaron eighty-three when they spoke to Pharaoh. 10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. 13 Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

I think the biggest problem in this country is everyone judging everyone else as sinners deserving to suffer. There’s no forgiveness and no love for people just for the sake of forgiveness and love. People really treat each other very badly here. We should be striving to take care of each other. We should be striving to help each other maximize our potentials. But all we have is everyone labeling each other as sub-humans deserving absolutely no respect. All we have is hate for each other everywhere.

Americans eat too much and exercise too little.

America is second in the world in per capita food consumption.

Americans eat more than twice as much food as required on average in order to remain healthy.

YES! And I love how he explained exactly what he means by that. “They drive up to a protest, for instance. They pull out their guns loaded with blanks, fire into the crowd, snap pictures of the chaos and speed away.” The “Michael Brown affair” was a perfect example of how they operate. Priceless!!
