Feds Hold Hearing On Whether They Should ‘Regulate’ Sites Like Drudge, Infowars And The Economic Collapse Blog

Big Brother Is Watching - Public DomainThe control freaks that run our government always seem to want to “regulate” things that they do not like.  And so it should be no surprise that there is a renewed push to regulate independent news websites.  Sites like the Drudge Report, and The Economic Collapse Blog have been a thorn in the side of the establishment for years.  You see, the truth is that approximately 90 percent of all news and entertainment in this country is controlled by just six giant media corporations.  That is why the news seems to be so similar no matter where you turn.  But in recent years the alternative media has exploded in popularity.  People are hungry for the truth, and an increasing number of Americans are waking up to the fact that they are not getting the truth from the corporate-controlled media.  But as the alternative media has grown, it was only going to be a matter of time before the establishment started cracking down on it.  At the moment it is just the FEC and the FCC, but surely this is just the beginning.  Our “Big Brother” government ultimately wants to control every area of our lives – and this especially applies to our ability to communicate freely with one another.

The Federal Election Commission is an example of a federal rule making body that has gotten wildly out of control.  Since just about anything that anyone says or does could potentially “influence an election”, it is not difficult for them to come up with excuses to regulate things that they do not like.

And on Wednesday, the FEC held a hearing on whether or not they should regulate political speech on blogs, websites and YouTube videos…

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) is holding a hearing today to receive public feedback on whether it should create new rules regulating political speech, including political speech on the Internet that one commissioner warned could affect blogs, YouTube videos and even websites like the Drudge Report.

If you do not think that this could ever happen, you should consider what almost happened at the FEC last October

In October, then FEC Vice Chairwoman Ann M. Ravel promised that she would renew a push to regulate online political speech following a deadlocked commission vote that would have subjected political videos and blog posts to the reporting and disclosure requirements placed on political advertisers who broadcast on television. On Wednesday, she will begin to make good on that promise.

“Some of my colleagues seem to believe that the same political message that would require disclosure if run on television should be categorically exempt from the same requirements when placed in the Internet alone,” Ravel said in an October statement. “As a matter of policy, this simply does not make sense.”

“In the past, the Commission has specifically exempted certain types of Internet communications from campaign finance regulations,” she lamented. “In doing so, the Commission turned a blind eye to the Internet’s growing force in the political arena.”

As our nation continues to drift toward totalitarianism, it is only a matter of time before political speech on the Internet is regulated.  It is already happening in other countries all around the globe, and control freak politicians such as Ravel will just keep pushing until they get what they want.

The way that they are spinning it this time around is that they desperately need to do something “about money in politics”

Noting the 32,000 public comments that came into the FEC in advance of the hearing, Democratic Commissioner Ellen L. Weintraub said, “75 percent thought that we need to do more about money in politics, particularly in the area of disclosure. And I think that’s something that we can’t ignore.”

And it isn’t just a few control freak Democrats that want these changes.

The Brennan Center for Justice, the Campaign Legal Center, the League of Women Voters and Public Citizen were all expected to testify in favor of more government regulation on the Internet at the hearing.

Fortunately, other organizations are doing what they can to warn the general population.  For example, the following comes from the Electronic Frontier Foundation

Increased regulation of online speech is not only likely to chill participation in the public debate, but it may also threaten individual speakers’ privacy and right to post anonymously.  In so doing, it may undermine two goals of campaign finance reform: protecting freedom of political speech and expanding political participation.

As we stated in our joint comments to the FEC back in 2005 [pdf], “the Internet provides a counter-balance to the undue dominance that ‘big money’ has increasingly wielded over the political process in the past half-century.” We believe that heightened regulation of online political speech will hamper the Internet’s ability to level the playing field.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama and the FCC are using net neutrality as an excuse to impose lots of new regulations on Internet activity.

Ajit Pai is an FCC commissioner who is opposed to this plan.  He recently sent out a tweet holding what he calls “President Obama’s 332-page plan to regulate the Internet“…

Ajit Pai’s description of “President Obama’s 332-page plan to regulate the Internet” sounds Orwellian. He tweeted a picture of himself holding the 332-page plan just below a picture of a smiling Barack Obama with a comment, “I wish the public could see what’s inside.” The implication depicted Obama as George Orwell’s “Big Brother.”

Pai also released a statement: “President Obama’s plan marks a monumental shift toward government control of the Internet. It gives the FCC the power to micromanage virtually every aspect of how the Internet works,” he said. “The plan explicitly opens the door to billions of dollars in new taxes on broadband… These new taxes will mean higher prices for consumers and more hidden fees that they have to pay.”

Here is the photo that he posted with his tweet…

President Obama's 332-page plan to regulate the Internet

After what we went through with Obamacare, one can only imagine what is inside that monstrosity of a document.

Regulation of the Internet is here, and it is only going to get worse.

But at least we are not like Saudi Arabia just yet.  Recently, a Saudi blogger was sentenced to 1,000 lashes for “insulting Islam“.

So we should be thankful for the freedoms that we still have.  But without a doubt, governments all over the world are slowly but surely cracking down on Internet freedom.

If we do not stand up for our rights now, one day we may wake up and find that our freedom to communicate with one another over the Internet is totally gone.

  • Bill

A nasty situation that will only get worse. Every day our lives are degraded by some government action.

  • Bill

    Left one but it disappeared

    • Bill

Now it is back. Guess the gremlins are busy.

I love this country but the people that are running it are scaring me to death. I am a old man but I hope my children and you and yours stand up and do something before it gets to far out of control. If sites like this disappear we won’t know anything

    • jared thompson

This site actually blocks the core of who is behind this all – such comments are erased. All the alt media is owned by bankers too, such as alex jones, mark dice, veterans today etc..

Only some blogs offer unadulterated truth. We live in a tyranny worse than most can imagine already, though they are unaware of it, being distracted by petty entertainments.

  • T.

You knew it was coming! This Bankster run fascist Government absolutely must CONTROL the story line that the Sheeple hear – Else they lose their Cover. If They will pass the NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) where They can haul you off and nobody ever hears from you again and do not even have to tell you the charges against you or give you counsel – All of which the American Sheeple are totally unaware of – Then yeah, fascist internet CONTROL cannot be far behind.

    • jared thompson

we already have such fascist control, and not just of the internet. The next ten years will show this to be true.

  • ResilientNews

Independent media is the only chance at saving this country. Ive been “awake” for about 5 years now and tomorrow will be 2 years that I started a business that produces unbiased community news for a city in Mid Michigan, we have a website and a monthly newspaper. Gannett a 5 billion dollar a year corporation has an established website/newspaper in our area and we are running circles around them as far as views and ad revenue . People want the truth they are sick of the same old lies from corporate america.

    • Smedley Butler

Thank God for and every other individual like you that are interested in the good of his fellow man.

      • BenFranklin92

Hitler was interested in his fellow man, better watch out its a slippery slope (sarcasm)

      • GetHubNub

God’s not involved in alternative news, only His Word.

    • Priszilla

Regulating would mean that your 5bn neighbour would need to state which news sites he controls. So that people can see where the news are coming from.

    • Ben A

black swan after black swan after expert claims after expert claims.

        • Ben A

            patience young padawan.

      • Regarding ebola-obola. If it were being spread by the means we have been told, NOT a single one of us would NOT know – by now – many from withing our own circles, friends, family, co-workers, SEVERAL who are presently infected.

~>BUT, most all of us do not.

We should pay close attention to those in the nations afflicted who keep telling us that ALL those “infected” are those who are vaccinated AND that ALL of the symptoms are identically the SAME as having been given a shot of Formaldehyde of at least 27%!

Maybe, we might learn the Truth by paying attention to this! Vaccine shots do NOT immunize. They poison, at best.

        • Vaccines have less formaldehyde than pears. It should come as no surprise that the anti-vax movement is led by Hollywood media personalities who share none of the propensities to disease and oppression that the rest of us do. It’s merely a convenient means of distracting the masses, to thin our numbers.

          • This may be “the norm” for vaccine shots. I guess what I am saying is simply, these are NOT “normal” vaccine shots.

ALL and not just some of the symptoms of “Obala-Ebola” are also identical to poisonous amounts of the formaldehyde.

They convey a hefty dose of lethal amounts of Formaldehyde, and are not the kind that might be less than pears.

Apparently, you believe vaccine shots are a ‘good.” It is there that we part company, and although I do live close to Hollywood, I am not in Hollywood nor am I an actor.

Only an extra, on very rare occasions. So rare, the last time was when I lived in the Chicago area.

Many well known Actors do promote vaccine shots. No one ought to do so.

      • joe

Ben is a good example of a government troll seeking to discredit those who don’t share the same views as the rest of the government controlled msm.

    • AmericatheFallen

LOSER, you should just let america collapse and let the sheep squeal and squirm as the muslims take over. haha

      • ResilientNews

I will never stop until I am dead.

      • joseph

        we are..

    • Same here. Our Pulitzer prize paper has gone the way of the liberal so called media. Their circulation has collapsed during the last ummm..6 years. The only thing keeping them afloat is, they also own the t.v. station here. I am awaiting the day they go the way of the DO Do bird.

      • chthompson

I’m sure Obongo will come up with a bailout plan soon enough to keep the presstitutes and regime bootlickers in business.

    • Paranoid Sheep

So, you think all “independent media” is unbiased, and credible? Interesting. Of those listed in the article above, Infowars is absolute BS, and has motivated people to do horrific things, ranging from murder (Infowars fan murders a cop in Las Vegas) to harassing a parent who lost a child at Newtown.

      • Mondobeyondo

The “Weekend Update” segment on Saturday Night Live is about as credible as mainstream media gets these days.

        • Paranoid Sheep

And infowars is probably the least credible “media” in history. It’s about as credible as The National Enquirer, because it’s the same exact thing – tabloid journalism.

          • Tim

This is bigger than you argument against “Infowars” but you seem to keep taking it there.

      • catsarecool

FREE SPEECH man. Doesn’t matter the source. They take Infowars away, they can take your site away. Wake up.

        • Paranoid Sheep

Nothing I have ever done has led to a person being murdered, or harassed. You should wake up and think for yourself.

          • catsarecool

BS. If Alex caused someone to be murdered, he’d be in jail now. YOU wake up. I’m not a weak minded fool to fall for those mind tricks.

          • JackNMeovslo

Oh ya? Well then why do I always feel like pounding my head upon my desk until my brains drip out my ears after reading your asinine comments?

          • Paranoid Sheep

I dunno, that sounds like something a moron such as yourself would do.

          • Gay Veteran

so using your “logic” then certain anti-abortion people are responsible for doctors who perform abortions being murdered

      • Tim

So your argument is.. If there is ‘Only one source’ of truth your better off? Independents can get it wrong too, but at least there are ‘cross checks’ by having additional independents. Right now main stream reads off the same AP wire release. They might change a few words but that is about it. The independents are about as close to ‘investigative reporters’ as you can get. Mainstream has no time or budget to worry about small details such as facts or truth. Pretty woman and a teleprompter=News media these days.

      • JackNMeovslo

Ya, I heard the guy really liked pumpkin pie too. Maybe that was to blame for his actions.

    • krinks

Right. There is nothing worse than sitting through a stab and slab local news or an Obama Cheerleading National News. It is either the ‘net or nothing.

    • Mary Brown

You will suffer strange accidents, fires, deaths until you close up. And none of them will be investigated.

    • huh ?

I must live in a dead zone – tried the same thing here (south central PA) but falls on deaf ears – had to abandon any further effort …

  • GSOB

…’the FCC are using net neutrality as an excuse to impose lots of new regulations on Internet activity’….

We come in the name of peace
    with security for all.
With the inordinate power invested for this cause..,
    let us serve you.

A usurpation of freedom, nothing more, nothing less.
It’s always packaged as a good deal.

  • Lennie Pike

In the end if necessary, these regulations are enforced with the threat of deadly force, or deadly force itself.

If these regulations are unjust and unconstitutional regardless of what the Supreme Court rules, then the choice becomes whether to bow down to tyranny and live as slaves, or put into action the only other option available.

JFK had a famous quote about what naturally occurs to a tyrannical and totalitarian government – it was one of the reasons “they” murdered him. He was the last President that represented the American People.

Waste your time – go ahead and vote. Germany has outlawed voting machines for very good reason.

    Stop cooperating and participating now!

    • Priszilla

Yes governments can hack into computers. Voting machines are relatively easy to manipulate.

      • Lennie Pike

They can program them and be totally responsible for their implementation also.

      • laura m.

Which is why we haven’t voted in thirty years. Besides politicians are useless bums who get paid for doing only what they are told by ones in charge(not the citizens), they are greedy bastards who get money /grants for their districts for going along with socialist agendas and unelected officials in gov. incl open borders, immigration, etc. Political scandals are constant on all levels of gov. America’s future is zero.

        • Priszilla

You have thirty political parties in the US.
Not voting at all means leaving the incumbents in place, not caring what they do.
If you vote for the smallest party running, you take away votes from the ruling party and the next in place.

Just imagine a third of the votes going to the democrats, a third to the republicans and a third to some other party, the greens, or the seniors, or the communists.

Then lets see who forms coalitions.

          • Gay Veteran

voting? we are given the illusion of choice

          • Priszilla

Yes and it will remain an illusion as long as the majority remains home and does not call the bluff.
You will unmask the democracy the moment you vote communist as in Chile. September, 11 is the date of the coup d’etat that toppled their democratically elected socialist president in 1973.

          • Gay Veteran

ROFLOL, as if a communist could get over 0.1% of the vote here. The corporate media would totally slime them

          • Priszilla

Technically, the 60% non-voters could vote 60% communist.

  • I wish George Orwell was still alive to see this. His book
showed the world that we live in today. I mean just this]
week, Samsung said dont say any private convos in your
    home, or will be recorded.

    • jsmith

Yes, yes, I just read about that also, and I was thinking that the way we are going new LCD or plasma televisions will have cameras pointed at us. Sounds like 1984 eh? And the nation is diverted by gay issues and the Kardashians and dancing with the stars. I tell you, we are totally a doomed nation.

    • Keywee

Poor George was incredibly depressed in the last years of his life because, even then, he was aware that the world he wrote about was eventuating and that nobody had the will or ability to do anything about it. He wouldn’t wish he was alive now to see it, I think he would have preferred to be wrong about humanity’s stupidity.

    • guest

“I wish George Orwell was still alive to see this. His book showed the world that we live in today.”
Yeah, kind of like he had the plan spread out before him and was told to fictionalize it.
Dig a little deeper and you might discover that he did.

  • K

Well you have to have such controls. When people into their forties, are still looking for a Mommy. They do not want to think about anything, they do not want to decide about anything. The simple fact in this Country, the majority never grow up, they just grow old.

  • robert

These rule makers are going to anger hackers such as Anonymous and other rogue entities. Make them angry enough and they tend to react in hostile ways that can do some serious damage. I suspect the internet genie is out of the bottle and getting it back into some controlled bottle is more easily said than actually accomplished. Interesting times and very dangerous ones.

  • NewHampshire

They have no authority to ‘regulate’ anything and we will NOT COMPLY.

  • Ariel Gail MacLean

Thank you Michael and Economic Collapse blog for highlighting this emerging crisis. There are many more besides me who see this as the Line In The Sand – I will not live without my ability to communicate with kindred others, to find and learn real news, to research my own “facts,” and to build the community I need to survive. I have long been asking how we can preserve our Psycho-Spiritual Health when The Internet As We Know It Is Gone? I do not use short-wave….cannot afford sattelite…..and do not see any other options for protecting myself and generating the necessary data upon which to form my opinions and beliefs. Thank you Michael for all you do and I welcome responses to my serious question – What other options do we have?

    • Priszilla

Try the library. And secondhand book fair. It’s amazing what you find away from amazon and the book chains.

      • guest

That’s a very good and helpful suggestion. Another thing I like about books…. they still work when the power goes out.

        • Priszilla

And on the beach and with a splash of water.
          Same for notebook and pencil.

  • Genada

More and more people know that they are being lied to all the time and seeking the truth. Attempting to silence those giving it will not change the basic problem of those in charge, that people know that they are being lied to.

People are checking out of the system, hence the lack of voting and it’s only going to get worse. They are checking out because they know the system is a fraud with no real choice. Attempting to silence those that inject truth into the conversation will do nothing.

It’s now become a case of who do you believe: Me or your lying eyes?

  • Ariel Gail MacLean

Michael, in today’s show you mention the strategic importance of SE Ukraine and that the Western part is worthless. I thought the pipeline which gets the product to markets in Europe flows across Northern Ukraine out the Western side. And that this Pipeline Company has a new executive – Joe Biden’s son. Please verify if/which part of this is true because this explains a whole lot about the strategy being employed over there, and also, alerts the thinking public to the criminal conflict-of-interest and false flag potential for everything our government is saying and doing right now. Many Americans reading this and who will be stuck with this next reality, have no collective memory or understanding of our relationship with Russia and Russia’s relationship with its own cultural & ethnic components (similar to the complex relationship history we have with the rest of North and South America). Everyone seems to be hell-bent on dividing Ukraine up. I see this as a lesser evil but nevertheless an evil perpetrated by the Bully USA who will find a way to get control even if with the threat of WW III. America is out of control to be considering interfering with the Pipeline which could control a lot of oil and gas delivery to dependent energy dependent European States (if this is true – please clarify).

  • Did you know that 90 percent of all news and entertainment in this country is controlled by just six giant media corporations which happens to be owned by one ethnic group?
    Did you know that?

  • Syrin

I have been warning you all for YEARS now that tyranny ALWAYS comes from the left. The US will be no exception. The only way leftists can maintain power is through bribery (welfare, food stamps, etc.), coercion, and silencing the opposition.

Heil mein comrades. Welcome to the USSA.

    • Priszilla

The right wants to preserve government (for law and order), the left wants to abolish it (for freedom and absence of hierarchy).

      • Mike Smithy

        You have it backwards Priszilla.

        • Priszilla

The right are the conservatives, they want to conserve the status quo.

          • Syrin

Wrong. The level of ignorance shown in your posts tells us that no amount of explanation could make you understand. When someone’s level of critical thinking ends at the level of a bumper sticker, then we can all understand why the gov’t has been able to do what it has done over the past 2 decades.

          • beatljuice

Wow Syrin, you have really drunk the Kool Aid if you think the right wingers are any better than the left. Just 2 sides of the same screwed up coin.

          • Gay Veteran

          • Priszilla

Well,my understanding is that the government is the tool of the ruling class. Making sure that they stay in power. And to suppress anybody who wants to change that they have army, police and judiciary.

          • Mike Smithy

The foundation of right wing conservatism is about protecting the rights of the individual, fiscal responsibility and smaller government.

          • Priszilla

What rights do you have in mind? The right to clean air and water?

          • Mike Smithy

The right to live ones life without an abusive over-reaching government. Lastly, I don’t know anyone that wants dirty air and dirty water. If an idividual or entity is culpable of such gross negligence then yes they should be prosecuted. We don’t need an EPA to investigate such matters. The police are more than capable to investigate and most major police departments have labs and lab technicians whom have the ability to test for toxicity in water and air.

          • Priszilla

Police labs come into force when people are dead.
Would you agree that a 50h work week infringes on the right to live?

          • Mike Smithy

If a person chooses to work 50 hours per week, that is none of your concern.

          • Priszilla

What if he is fired when he chooses to work just 40h? Or he could not survive on 40h?

Would that infringe on his right to live?

And wouldn’t it be a matter for the law enforcement if someone infringes on someones life?

          • Gay Veteran

gee, just WHERE are all these right wing conservatives???

      • Km

There is no left/right, it’s all agenda driven!

      • Orange Jean

How then do you account for the nanny states, the proposed control of guns (a Constitutional right), the unbelievable heights of regulatory control the EPA has now? How is that “freedom”? Obama and his minions have been pushing increased government on steroids… hardly the “absence of hierarchy”…
        ALL are leftist.

I’m not saying the right has all the answers either; they have plenty to account for, especially recently.

        • Priszilla

Amendment2 talks about a well regulated militia. Not an unruly mob where everyone is a threat to everybody else.
Customers and labourers are necessary to make profit and war. Can’t kill them, not even through pollution.

          • Mike Smithy

Yes, the 2nd amendment references a well regulated militia but does not state who should regulate it. The federal government, state government, local government or a private civil rights advocacy organization such as the NRA? The 2nd ammendment also references an additional concept: The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
KEEP, means it’s mine and you can’t have it.
BEAR, means iv’e got it right here on me.
SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, means F you.

          • Priszilla

            Keep can mean safe keeping.
Bear can mean when it is needed
Anybody who shoots somebody infringes on his constitutional rights.

            How about legs?

          • Mike Smithy

The inherent right of the 2nd Amendment belongs to the individual. The government has no vote in determining that they can keep my weapon for safe keeping, nor decide when they think I need it. Lastly, the law allows for one to use deadly force when necessary. In which case, the perpetrator forfeits his/her right to life.

          • Priszilla

Safe-keeping can mean that you keep something safe, that you don’t own.

Is trespassing 100 yard aways imminent threat of death?

While in the army we were taught to use the gun as very last resort. Our barracks were in the town. Can’t start shooting with an AK-47 when someone climbs a fence.
And we were told not to shoot when third parties could be in danger.
An AK-47 is very powerful. We were usually shooting on targets 200 or 300 yards away, and were expected to hit with the first shot.
And on 100 yards the bullets can penetrate single brick walls.

So we had training to overpower opponents without using weapons. And were taught how to search them without danger to ourselves once we overpowered them.
(breaking his arms was permitted if the resistance was too powerful, but it isn’t deadly)
I smashed a few groins in training before I learned to control myself for pretending.

Luckily I didn’t get in a situation where I had to use a gun on people.

My parents don’t have guns. They use a multi-layer defense at home.
            1. No guns in the neighbourhood.
            2. A strong door downstairs, that is always locked.
            3. Concrete walls.
            4. A reinforced burglarproofed door at the apartment entrance.

We never had burglars or attackers.

In Hong Kong there was a bit of violence – if you were a gang member or dealing in drugs. Otherwise not.

I have no idea why America is such an aggressive nation.

          • Priszilla

            So, what is imminent?

Would you be allowed to shoot first?

Would you be allowed to circumvent the legal system by judging and executing a perpetrator?

      • Gay Veteran

riiiiiiiiiight, keep falling for that left/right drivel

        • Priszilla

Actually, that was the definition of left and right when the terms were introduced. Those sitting in Parlament at the right and those sitting on the left.
The Social-Democrats sitting on the left…

          • Gay Veteran

in modern American politics there is no “left” or “right”.

          • Priszilla

Yes. From a european perspective your democrats are part of the right spectrum.

          • Gay Veteran

that is not what I meant.
there used to be actual differences between the parties, no longer since they are 2 sides of the same coin

    • Mike Smithy

You are correct sir. Hitler, Stalin, Lenin, Musolini, Mao and Pot were all leftists.

      • elvisisdead

Insanity. Hitler was a Catholic who went to war with the Soviet Union and killed millions of leftists and communists both in Germany and in Europe. Mussolini killed anyone and everything in Italy even leaning towards socialism/communism. Read some history. You’re over simplifying. History isn’t simple. Neither is life. The bad guys win because people like you don’t think.

      • Gay Veteran

Hitler and Mussolini were fascists, and Hitler came to power in a CONSERVATIVE coaltion

    • DrLucinda

C’mon man. If you’re only blaming one side of the political spectrum for this problem, you’re making a big mistake. Bush and Cheney were just as bad as Obama. Wake up.

      • Syrin

Your Common Core level of critical thinking is exactly why the gov’t can do what it has done to date. See, Bush and cheney were also liberals. They expanded the gov’t at an alarming rate starting with the enormous Farm Bill, then we know they expanded the police state, the surveillance state etc. If you actually understood what a conservative and liberal were, it would be apparent to you that liberals have taken over both political parties. By today’s standards, JFK would be labeled by the media as a Tea Party right wind extremist even though he was a democrat.

And no. NO ONE to date has been as bad as the American Fuhrer. Not even close.

        • elvisisdead

What your’e saying is that any politician who does something bad is a liberal, even those who are republicans/conservatives.
So who are the REAL conservatives?
Ted Nuggent? Sarah Palin? Ted Cruz? David Duke? George Will?
Or is no one actually conservative enough in real life?

          • laura m.

They can all be bought-that’s why they run for office, and real patriot conservatives never get elected, as stuck in stupid Americans are basically liberal/socialists, pro welfare and way outnumber free market ltd. gov folks. I have seen this pattern since the ’60s- just look at the welfare rolls today, the churches and public education.

        • Mike Smithy

          Amen. +1000.

        • Gay Veteran

odd how soooooooooo many conservative people loved them some Bush back in the day

      • Mike Smithy

Despite the smear campaign by the liberal media, Cheney and Bush never embraced conservative ideology although they would on occasion offer disingenuous lip service to the concept. They were both big government statists. The last conservative president was Ronald Reagan.

        • Gay Veteran

odd how sooooooooooooo many conservative people loved them some Bush/Cheney back in the day

      • laura m.

Politicians are bought and paid off in grants for their districts. Both useless parties pushed GATT/NAFTA and outsourced millions of jobs along with open borders. By voting, folks are participating in a corrupt system and voting machines can be rigged to sway elections. voting is a giant circus fraud and politicians are worthless bums who don’t work for a living.

    • Gay Veteran

interesting you said “Heil” since Hitler rose to power in a CONSERVATIVE coaltion

The MSM crapped in its mess kit when it deliberately suppressed the truth about Obama in the 2008 election. It has been running interference for him ever since. Their credibility is ZERO. Other than weather and sports, I pay them no attention. You would think the GOP would stand up to this and protest but as on so many issues….they too are silent. Frankly, they find the internet as irritating as the Demos. Surveillance is becoming suffocating in this society. Look at what is happening to us: drones, cameras, license plate readers, the NSA snooping on every electronic communication, the IRS deliberately suppressing political speech and quite possibly throwing the 2012 election to Obama (BTW, whatever happened to that cuddly Lois Lerner?)… who can withstand this kind of scrutiny and harassment? The light has not gone out but it surely is dimming. We just had an election. We overwhelmingly voted against CHANGE. Once again, as in 2010, we gave the GOP (RINOs and all) a ringing endorsement. Once again we get push back from the RINOs. We get…Jeb! Michael, we may disagree from time to time, but we love what you do! Keep up the good work.

    • A Friend

You’re right on about Jeb. I am a floridian. why oh why can’t we get something else out there besides a potential .third Bush in office. And don’t get me started on his common core leanings. I homeschool my kids because of many reasons but one of them is to avoid common store.

The Common Core is nothing but Indoctrination from the Ministry of Truth. Kudos to you for pulling your kids out of it. Another benefit, your children avoid disease from all the New Arrivals. It will get worse before it gets better. Surviving the next two years is our immediate objective. If the GOP nominates Jeb, it will be all over but the shouting. Best of Luck!.

This Something that has been on my mind for quite a while….. When the government starts coming down hard on websites like yours, and starts censoring the internet, free speech, etc. etc….. how do you think we will all be able to communicate the truth? For example, will you have to do videos or written articles and send them to subscribers by email? Just throwing ideas out there. This one of about a dozen alternative media sites I monitor…. How will we freely communicate when they start clamping down? I think all alternative media sites need to discuss this now before it’s too late. I just can’t stomach the thought of getting all my news from the main stream media. I’ve only been awake to this for about 3 years (asleep for the first 40 odd years of my life) and there’s no turning back.

The first thing the Egyptian government did during the unrest and riots a few years ago was to shut down the social media. They were fully aware of the threat alternative communications posed to them. It can’t happen here? It is happening here.

Next thing you know they will require all financial transactions to be done on your I phone. Indeed, you will be required to have an I phone. Holding Gold and foreign currencies will also be outlawed.

What’s really messed up is that there are people who will obey because they will believe it’s for their own good.

          Reminds me of a joke:

The Mexican wears a seatbelt because he doesn’t want a fine.

The German wears a seatbelt because the law says so.

The American wears a seatbelt because it keeps him “safe.”

          • Orange Jean

I remember going to the beach with my dad… it was in his little Jeep Wrangler, 5 kids and a dog… not only no seat belts, but the Jeep had no doors! On the other hand, dear ol’ Dad never drove above 35 mph.

To solve a problem, first we must know its cause. Michael said multiple times that The Fed is the center of US economy problems. Since The Fed is not a governmental agency, let me ask this very humble question: who owns and controls The Fed? Everybody knows who they are, but no one dares to speak up, not even Michael himself.

  • Jackie Milton

The problem is that citizens have been socially engineered to they point that they will believe ANYTHING main stream media tells them. Think about the people you come in contact with , you’ll realize the average person is really stupid and incapable of analytical, critical thought.

Let’s get rid if him now. I realize impeachment is a long drawn out process, but at least it will hamper Obama’s efforts to continue to fundamentally change America. He is out of control and the useless, complicit congress needs to act. Obama is no different than Bush 2 or Clinton. They are all criminals guilty of treason against America.

You have to understand the mindset is the self esteemed, privilege “leaders”. They don’t ever fail. It’s the fault of naysayers/ critics/ bullies. Independent media is today what mainstream media used to be 60 or 70 years ago. The MSM long ago sold out to celebrity and gossip status.

TMZ is teenage mainstream media. CBS, Fox, ABC, etc. are adult mainstream media. Don’t even get me started on the whole Brian Williams/NBC fiasco. Our anchormen on network news are no more than celebrity journalists. That’s why I turn to RT, the BBC, the Daily Mail, etc. to get real news.

The main stream media does not report the news, they spin it to fit what their masters tell them to say. America, sad to say has already been taken over. This is not a free country anymore. The powers in charge intend to make America a third world country.
The economy is ready to collapse, unemployment is through the roof, and yet the main stream media does not report the true numbers. Won’t be long before they throw a tax on all websites to provide free Internet for those that can’t afford it. So, I guess it’ll be an ObamaInternet to go with your Obamaphone.

  • elvisisdead

Dont worry Obama is gone in 2 years and with him will go the paranoia. Just like when Clinton left the white house and Bush came in. The anti-government/freedom/guns/God/militia gang disappeared like a fart in the wind when Airforce 2 took Bill off the South lawn. Bush The Lesser was able to trample civil liberties, put through the patriot act, create massive new government agencies and bureaucracies, expand government more than any President since Roosevelt, with nary a peep from the right. All because he had an R before his name, had a put-on Texas twang(the man was from Connecticut!) did a few months in the air guard, and was the kind of guy you’d want to sip a beer with after along day fishing for bluefish on the cigarette boat off Kennebunkport. You know, just a regular Yale educated son of a President guy.

  • I believe we have NO other or better real choice but to fight back with the goal to WIN. By ALL and by ANY available and possible means.

Victory is IN Resistance to Evil, not ever in a compliance.

Despite all the efforts of despots and tyrants, many being both, we still have our US Constitution, and they have NOTHING.

Law is the Foundation upon which we Stand and for that which we must find and develop a willingness to FIGHT.

ONLY by giving up can we truly lose.

They can NOT pry loose from cold or warm hands a God Endowed RIGHT. Only by the individual surrender. It ALWAYS comes down to each person, one at a time. We need to know that we as those created in the Image of GOD have MUCH Power. They, fighting against Truth, against Reality, have no power.

Mere brute force and THAT is NOT EVER A “STAND ALONE” POWER.

So if it comes to it, fight them with brute force AND the Power of being aligned with Providential Will and Purpose.

God PLUS (just) ONE is always the prevailing majority.

I am guessing that Mike thinks he is a beacon of truth. Truth can be a very subjective thing. Truth is, I find Mike’s writing occasionally quite sexist and overly self-assured in a biased manner. Many people DO however seek alternative viewpoints and more information, and Mike can be quite good at digging information and making connective inferences.. not that I always agree with his conjectures of the future.
I read Drudge all the time. That doesn’t mean I don’t think he can’t be a bit “over the top”. Being finicky, I like to filter out the images on his website.

The FCC doesn’t deal with the news outlets we have now on radio and TV. So talk radio is 99% conservative propaganda (whatever happened to the Fairness Doctrine?) and TV news presents both sides as equal and opinion as fact. It is why most Americans are truly ignorant. I need the internet to find out the real news–which is why the corporations are trying to control it.

  • National Socialism had as a priority the preservation of private property. Fascism was the marriage of corporations to the state. Are these “far-left” ideologies?

What you are stating is an extreme oversimplification. What many people mean when they speak of far-left ideologies are those that significantly revamp property relations in favor of mutual or state, rather than private, ownership of the means of production. State socialism is rarely beneficial, however mutual socialism has been shown to have a positive effect.

then please explain not only why the German Socialists opposed the Nazis but why the Nazis came to power in a CONSERVATIVE coalition

    • Mike Smithy

What part of this do you not understand? The Nazi’s were the mainstream socialists. Who is this phantom CONSERVATIVE coalition that you are espousing?

      • Gay Veteran

        Google is an amazing invention:

On the 29th, a false rumor circulated that Schleicher was about to arrest Hindenburg and stage a military takeover of the government. When Hindenburg heard of this, it ended his hesitation. He decided to appoint Adolf Hitler as the next Chancellor of Germany.

However, a last minute objection by CONSERVATIVE leader, Alfred Hugenberg, nearly ruined everything. On January 30, while President Hindenburg waited in the other room to give Hitler the chancellorship, Hugenberg held up everything by arguing with the Nazis over Hitler’s demand for new elections. He was persuaded by Hitler to back down, or at least let Hindenburg decide. With that settled they all headed into the president’s office.

Around noon on January 30, 1933, a new chapter in German history began as a teary-eyed Adolf Hitler emerged from the presidential palace as Chancellor of the German Nation. Surrounded by admirers, he got into his car and was driven down the street lined with cheering citizens.

      • Gay Veteran

“…The unwillingness of the CONSERVATIVES to work with the Social Democrats paved the way for Adolf Hitler. Hitler agreed to work with von Papen but only as the head of a new coalition government. Papen went to Hindenburg and proposed a government with Hitler as chancellor and himself as vice-chancellor, with the majority of the cabinet to be CONSERVATIVES from von Papen’s Nationalist Party. Hitler met with some right-wing industrialists, reassuring them of his respect for private property. He told them that democracy led to socialism and that he would curb socialism and the socialist-led labor unions. The industrialists liked what Hitler told them. In January 1933, Hindenburg made Hitler chancellor…..”

ok so first of all, It was a completely new form of government never need tested before, the crazy idea of the government working with the people, no central bank, printing there own treasury certificates and funding projects to benefit the whole. Hitler was only in power for a while without war and most of the policies were effected by war time decisions there was never any uprising against him even when it was clear the war was lost because the people knew they were on the same side and brothers till the end

And if you hum and hah too much we shall bring out the sweet mint tea with our best college voice all the way from England to convince you that postage is cheap here and the carpet will look great in your front parlor.

“What!” you say; don’t say that; and come back we have other shades to suit your moods. What did I say wrong? You are a funny customer. Never mind, my brother will sell you one later on from one of my other shops. And here’s a luminous dial, it cost sixpence, may it brighten up your day forever.

There are many types of death but the deadly death is the worst one.

Somehow, beyond the realms of science, every cricket team that loses has been beaten by the cricket ball of doom; this is a fact that is 100% accurate.

And for every bird there’s a branch to fall off of to fly unless it’s an ostrich that buries its head in sand.

A very small minute ended before it could begin with no choice to accept what it had not been given. The meow cat agreed and went back to sleep.
