How Angry Will You Be If The Republicans In Congress Do Not Repeal Obamacare?

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Obamacare Report Card - FacebookTop Republicans are now publicly saying that Obamacare will never be fully repealed. In fact, many Republicans in Congress are already using the term “repair” instead of “repeal” to describe what is going to happen to Barack Obama’s signature healthcare law. Without a doubt, the Republicans in Congress are eventually going to do something, but strategists in both parties are now suggesting that most of the key elements of Obamacare are going to remain once everything is all said and done. It will be put into a more “conservative” package, but it will still be Obamacare.

On Thursday, former House Speaker John Boehner made headlines all over the country when he said that a complete repeal of Obamacare is “not what’s going to happen”.  Instead, Boehner said that Republicans are going to “fix Obamacare” and that they will “put a more conservative box around it” in order to keep their constituents happy.

Of course this isn’t what we voted for. For years, Republican politicians all across the country have been promising that Obamacare would be repealed once they got control of Congress, but now Boehner is telling us that all of that was just “happy talk”

Earlier in the panel discussion, Boehner said he “started laughing” when Republicans started talking about moving lightning fast on repeal and then coming up with an alternative.

“In the 25 years that I served in the United States Congress, Republicans never, ever, one time agreed on what a health care proposal should look like. Not once,” Boehner said. “And all this happy talk that went on in November and December and January about repeal, repeal, repeal—yeah, we’ll do replace, replace—I started laughing, because if you pass repeal without replace, first, anything that happens is your fault. You broke it.”

When the Republicans finally get around to doing something, they will inevitably declare it to be a great victory, but will it actually be that much different from what we have now?

Yes, the IRS penalty for not having health insurance will probably go. But there will still be coverage for children up to the age of 26, there will still be mandatory coverage for preexisting conditions, there will still be mandatory coverage for maternity expenses, there will still be some form of Medicaid expansion and there will still be subsidies for the poor.

In the end, we are still going to have a healthcare system where half the country pays for the healthcare for the other half of the country.

That isn’t fair, and it never will be.  One half of the country shouldn’t have to pay much higher rates for their own health insurance and also pay for the healthcare of everyone else in the nation as well.  Either we should go back to a free market system, or they might as well go ahead and socialize the entire thing.

The thought of sticking with what we have right now is utter insanity, but unfortunately that is what top Republicans mean when they speak of “repairing” Obamacare. The following comes from the New York Times

“When you talk about ‘repeal,’ you have just used a word that is very polarizing,” said Representative Tom MacArthur, Republican of New Jersey, who meets weekly with moderate Republicans and Democrats of equal number. “When you go to Democrats and say, ‘Help us repeal,’ that puts them in a box. If you say, ‘Would you help us repair something?’ people start listening in a whole other way.”

How in the world do you “repair” a steaming pile of garbage?

I just don’t understand.

What the Republicans need to do is very simple. As Jim Demint has suggested, the Republicans in Congress simply need to pass the same Obamacare repeal that Barack Obama vetoed not too long ago…

Heritage Foundation President Jim DeMint, the former South Carolina Republican senator, called on activists attending the Conservative Political Action Conference to push their members of Congress to send to President Donald Trump the same legislation that dismantled the law and was vetoed by President Barack Obama with all due haste.

“We must and we can repeal Obamacare now,” DeMint said. “They should send that same bill to President Trump right now.”

So what is keeping Republicans in Congress from moving forward?

One thing is the defunding of Planned Parenthood. Some liberal Republicans are promising to vote against any Obamacare repeal bill that defunds Planned Parenthood

Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) says she will not vote for an ObamaCare repeal bill that defunds Planned Parenthood.

In her address to Alaska’s state legislature Wednesday, the moderate Republican offered her firmest commitment yet that she will not support defunding Planned Parenthood.

“I, for one, do not believe that Planned Parenthood has any place in our deliberations on the Affordable Care Act,” she said.

Another thing that is giving some Republicans pause are the angry protesters that they are running into at town hall meetings…

U.S. Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa and Reps. Jason Chaffetz of Utah, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee and Tom McClintock of California are among Republicans who faced hostile audiences at recent town hall meetings.

This comes after the Women’s March on Washington that drew hundreds of thousands of protestors the day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“Republicans need to be paying attention and doing their best to understand the energy from the town halls,” said Nathan Gonzales, editor and publisher of Inside Elections, a Washington-based publication that tracks congressional races.

Of course a lot of those “angry protesters” are from Barack Obama’s private army of more than 30,000 volunteers that are being deployed around the nation in a desperate attempt to defend Obamacare.

In the end, the truth is that the Republicans should be listening to the voters that sent them to Washington in the first place. Most of those voters expected an immediate Obamacare repeal, and now that it has not happened it is making for a very confusing tax season. The following comes from Politico

Republicans’ stalled campaign to repeal the Affordable Care Act is sowing confusion among those now trying to do their taxes.

Many taxpayers believe Republicans have already repealed the law, tax preparers say, and they’re surprised and upset to learn they are still subject to Obamacare’s penalty for failing to have health insurance — a charge that climbed this year to more than $2,000 per family.

Until it is repealed, Obamacare will continue to kill jobs and will continue to kill the middle class.

It was one of the worst pieces of legislation ever written, and it boggles the mind that so many Republicans in Congress are hesitant about repealing it.

Unfortunately, just as I portray in my novel, America is rapidly going crazy.

We have been given over to a reprobate mind, and our leaders can’t even seem to think straight any longer.

If Obamacare is going to be repealed, now is the time. Please contact your representatives in Congress and tell them that a “fix” will not work and that we want Obamacare to be completely repealed and replaced with a free market alternative.

    Michael,

Shortly after Trump took office he signed an executive order intended to minimize the economic burden of Obamacare. The IRS subsequently announced that, pursuant to Trump’s executive order, it would not enforce the individual mandate for 2016. There is a line on Form 1040 entitled “Health care: individual responsibility” where a taxpayer is supposed to indicate that they had health insurance for the entire year. If they didn’t have health insurance for any part of the year they must either claim a coverage exemption (on Form 8965) or make a shared responsibility payment (i.e. the penalty for not having health insurance). But the IRS stated that it will not consider a tax return for 2016 incomplete if a taxpayer doesn’t indicate that they had full-year coverage on Form 1040 and the taxpayer doesn’t claim a coverage exemption or make a shared responsibility payment.

I didn’t have health insurance in 2016, and I left the line on Form 1040 entitled “Health care: individual responsibility” blank and I didn’t pay the penalty, which would have been $695. I’m expecting a small refund.

I have not decided what I will do if the IRS calls me about my return.

We have been given over to a reprobate mind, and our leaders can’t even seem to think straight any longer.

You shouldn’t have used the word “we”. Yes, most of our so-called leaders have been given over to a reprobate mind, which explains the state of the world today. But God’s elect have not been given over to such a mind. That is why we are able to discern between good and evil.

    • JC Teecher

Amen, don’t let them vaccinate you, your children or grandchildren. Take them out of establishment mind control centers, and tell the vaccinators to go f themselves.

      • Tim

As a Christian I would never tell anyone to “go f themselves.” That is unbecoming of a Christian, and it’s just plain filthy. That kind of talk is forbidden by Colossians 3:8.

“But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.”

Vengeance belongs to the Lord, sir. I will let Him administer justice on the Day of Judgment. He is a perfect judge and is no respecter of persons, and that is sufficient for me.

        Good night, sir.

        • Tatiana Covington

Vengeance and hatred are normal and natural, healthy and good. So F Colossians 3:8!

          • JC Teecher

I agree in part, as we should vent frustrations and such, however I can’t go along with saying “flake” to any of God’s word….just to ignorant self proclaimed, holier than thou Christians like the aforementioned “big guy”.

I don’t have a problem with anyone disagreeing with what I say, but when they make it a personal insult, then that will bring on the backlash, Amen?

Your choice, Tim. You have all the right to be as meek as you choose. It can be your style of Christian, just like the bleeding hearts that say we should bow down to evil and love everyone.

I am no one’s door mat, and i use the words i want against any i so choose.

If you see yourself as so righteous and beyond reproach, then good for you, however; I am still a sinner and never will be perfect, so what you say against me has no effect.

Don’t come preaching to me, as I listen to the Holy Spirit, “only”, and you ain’t it. f f f f f f! just a letter, so you can f on out of here big guy.

Vaccines do not control minds; you, with your self-exaltation, déclassé language and borderline intellectual deficiencies, are deceived. We have eradicated polio, smallpox, and many other maladies as a result of the original conception of the vaccine by Jenner in response to smallpox.

        • JC Teecher

          Aren’t you a keyboard Einstein.

You think you are so smart and what you are saying is the same thing liberals say all the time.

it is the modern vaccines that kill thousands each year, not save tens of thousands, as they are contaminated.
Many people die from the common flu vaccine each year. Little innocent children get sick and some die from these so called “safe” vaccines.
The numbers are covered up and under reported because it is the plan of the type people you seem to support. Kill off and make sick for big Pharma profits.
          You people make me sick.

Yes, the early vaccines eradicated polio and smallpox, and in your simplistic, narrow mind, they are still relevant today. Bull caca.

If that were true, then where is all the small pox and polio in third world countries where vaccinations are not the norm.

My point is, when a gov can demand injections upon it’s people, the the people have no choice but to receive any and all forms of injections that can and does cause harm.

You are blinded by your intellectual sounding words like declasse, and exaltation, but I have seen your liberal types try to tell others what they have decided is best for them, and then force those things upon people by law. This is evil in the eyes of God.

So, you must be content with evil and gov control…your omnipotence and little god, of whom may be consumed by the fire of the Creator.

Shouldn’t have used the word “we” in speaking about God’s elect. You think way too highly of yourself, and isn’t that called sin? Judging another Christian as evil is definitely a sin, so you are setting yourself up, to be judged. So, maybe you are the filthy one here.

Wow. You really are low-crawling. Your own conscience should rebuke you. That would be a mark of a mature believer. Instead, you go on, and in Jesus’ name (!), dissing and pissing on anyone that looks at you cross-eyed.

God, what horrible judgement awaits you when you stand before the bema seat. And funny, it doesn’t even phase you. No one can speak into your life; and so, instead of a little honest self-reflection, you are slow to listen, quick to speak, and quick to anger, as you hastily retort back some self-righteous insolence from your own immature, pompous heart.

It’s sad, too, because you take on a pretentious name like “Jesus Teecher”, and all the while choose to be a very bad witness.

And non-believers are looking on, and see you, and think, “If this is Christianity, I want nothing to do with it.”

We’re the only Bible they read, dude. If depth of character escapes you, then isn’t it time to be quiet and learn to listen to the Holy Spirit in your life? Not me, but the Holy Spirit.

Wow, no conscience, no repentance, no character. How can you even stomach being yourself??

Either way, Almighty God will deal with your morally rotten heart. He sees the proud from afar, and there isn’t a drop of humility in you. Sadly, you are destroying any kind of Christian witness around here.

Smile while your are making your false accusations and also look slightly to the right and up, and say cheese.

Good, cause we got a fuggly mug shot of you to now go with all your condemnations and playing God, with my soul, to go along with the new records in your Book of Life in Heaven.

I have no sin recorded on my Book of Life, because I pray for forgiveness on a regular basis, and the blood of Christ washes them away, and leaves a slate, clean and as white as snow with no remembrance of of any sin, against me. Do you pray? Are you truly saved and baptized? Do you have the face of God by your ever so holy actions?

so put that in your little self righteous, holier than thou pipe and smoke it.

What is now seen is license, the license to abort, practice euthanasia, commit sodomy, and more manifestations not of freedom
        but of sin and slavery.

Establishment politicians want the “controls” part of the obungler care law.

It is a part of their plan to make mandatory vaccines a way to exterminate the elderly and proliferate the use of drugs to supposedly override the toxins that have been injected in the ignorant.

    • Tim

I will never allow them to inject me.

    • Kissmagrits

Off topic but have you ever heard of Anthony Patch? He is a researcher on CERN and has a wild theory on the mark of the beast. He also talks about DWaves quantum computer that will be used to control the opening of the portal at CERN. It’s the February 16, 2017 episode of The Hagmann And Hagmann Report. He starts talking about Cern at 1:14:40 into the program. And his theory of the mark of the beast starts at the last 15:30 minutes of the program.

I believe there may just be enough anger out there. To finally form a real third party. More people than I have ever seen before, know neither party represents the people.

I hope that you are right.

    • William Lutz

I voted for Jill Stein, the Green Party. I would have voted for Gary J, but I learned that he is a fake libertarian and a sucker for the establishment. I will agree that these Reps and Dems are useless.

Jill Stein is a self loving communist and would take this Nation right up to the gates of Hell. She is as left wing nut as they come.

      • socalbeachdude

Why would you waste a vote on JACKASS JILL?

    • Seen2013

Just remember what happened to TEA Party Express, the Establishment Republicans hijacked it because it was too decentralized rendering it vulnerable to a hostile takeover.

This is why even the Libertarian Party possessing over 100 positions only account for something to the effect of 43 nationwide total House and Senate, so they are dependent on compelling the Committee on Presidential Debates to include them in the debates.

And, yes. Johnson is a fake Libertarian; in fact, his Distribution Company was established in his promotion of both medical usage and operates in Colorado last I looked. Can’t imagine why he was against it before being for it $$$

      • JC Teecher

Libertarian is another word for freedom to do or say anything that one desires. Libertarianism is totally against the Bible, as it allows people to see themselves as mini gods.

Not many understand that without a continual reinforcement of serious theological and intellectual instruction, the visible church will become powerless to stop the advance of humanistic statism.

I won’t be angry. I just don’t like waiting and wondering until April if I’m obligated to pay the penalty. Tax forms will be accepted w/o answering the insurance question, but taxpayers are still legally obligated to pay the penalty at this point.

    • Patriot Alice

Trump already created the third party, he needed the Republican platform to make the transition, thus the elite Repubs are still fighting him, they know Trump high jacked the the party and is reinventing it to your liking.

      • Rick

Absolutely correct. He’s facing fights and leaks, and opposition from every angle that no President before him has faced, even from within his own tight circle like the former GOP Chairman. He’s got to be the establishments best weapon against Trump. We need to firmly stand behind this guy. He is definitely not “leading from behind” like a coward we recently called president was.

      • Glenn Schantz

You’re right Alice, and now job one is to replace all Our rino’s in the party with fresh Patriot Trumpian new America first blood to move America forward and to re-elect Trump!!!! Also vote more leftists out too, there is no such thing as a liberal anymore, they are now the new progressive socialist party and Americans need to wake up to that, rally together and stomp them out once and forall!!!

      • Cookie Vranish

I agree with you. I also really like the idea!

    • tsf

You know, I hate to rain on your parade. And I believe we do share many of the same ideals. But truth be told, a third party would end up like the others. There’s nothing intrinsically better in one group of humans than another. They all succumb to the same kinds of temptations — money, politics, power. I wish I could be more positive about this. But our real hope lies more in divine nature than in human nature. Until then, we’re doing little more than just spinning our wheels.

      • K

It would not have to end up like the others. It could all be handled by party regulations. You run with the backing of the new party. You have to agree to, no more than two terms in office. You say that no group is intrinsically better than another group. Sure there is. A group that belives there is a difference between Good and Evil. And you should support the Good, to the best of your ability. Will usually do better, than those who say, there is no Good or Evil. Yes indeed there is more hope in Divine nature, than in human nature. But that does not mean, we should not continue to resist that evil. I do not say this to be argumentative. Just to give you something to consider.

          However,
In evangelical circles, much stress is placed on remembering one’s conversion experience, the date, place and so on. It is seen as an experience, not a call.

A call is to action and service, to a relationship to the present and future, where as an experience is past history.

If the experiential man looks to the future, it is commonly to look forward to being raptured out of this world.

The called man looks to conquering the world for Christ.

    • HeyAHuman

      • Richard

No, he’s saying the opposite! He’s saying that we should NOT have to pay tax for the health of other people. I’m saying that society doesn’t complain when we all pay taxes for education – whether we have children ourselves or not – therefore in the same way we should all contribute to everyone’s health. I haven’t heard of people asking for a tax rebate because they don’t have children. Why shouldn’t they pay taxes for everyone’s health in the same way?

My point was that if we all chip in and pay for the education of the nation’s children without question or complaint, why shouldn’t we all do the same for their (and everyone else’s) health?

The GOP have no intention of building a wall, repealing Obamacare, or helping in any way Trumps agenda except in those narrow areas in which they align, like on the SCOTUS nominee. They not only didn’t ask for Trump, they fought him tooth and nail. They will drag out whatever he attempts though the legislative process trying to run out the clock. They truly are RINO but they keep getting reelected just like McCain and Reid. The GOP believes they only need to outlast the Donald and hte old order of the usual suspects running for that office will resume. They do not accept this is their final shot at getting anything done because they don’t agree with this agenda. The GOP is pretty much split on every plank upon the party stands, but this is extreme. Of course the same feeling is coming from Trump now on Dreamers. Promised they would go immediately and now that is over. Once the camel gets his noe under that tent, they will all wind up staying with full amnesty. DT gets to feel good and the GOP gets their next generation of low wage laborers. That should last them until the robot assembly line s get geared up and put damn near everybody out of work. If you want an idea of what the future holds with automation, pick up a copy of a Judge Dredd comic. It squarely captures the feeling of both worlds, automated marvels and people without anything to do that gives meaning to their lives.

  • DJohn1

That is what we need to tell the new bunch of people of both parties that made promises to get elected.
Not going to happen as long as we elect these people time and time again.
The choices of both parties stink to high heaven.
The problem is the GOP and the Democrats are both too corrupt at this point in time to be elected. But they are because there is no choice. Boh parties have an exclusive monopoly on who goes up for election.

  • William Lutz

I’m also disappointed about the fact that the Republicons are not willing to repeal the ACA. Moreover, “repairing” it or simply “replacing” it is not a good enough proposal. We should either have a laissez faire approach to health care or a national HSA system.

    Shame on the Republicans!

To make healthcare affordable one would need to ban all insurance industry from it or at least forbid hospitals to charge uninsured more than insured (insurance companies have plenty of special deals) and force healthcare providers to publish their full prices for particular procedures to facilitate consumer price discovery.

    • JC Teecher

We need the Rand Paul Plan, which allows customers to form groups, and buy insurance across any and all state lines.

the larger the group, the more power the people have to demand cheaper rates and better quality insurance benefits for their members.

      There is power in numbers.

      • socalbeachdude

That would only create BIGGER LOSSES which is the core issue why medical expense insurers are totally WITHDRAWING from offering any medical expense coverage with ObamaScare.

    • socalbeachdude

Laughably false. Insurers are not even the slightest bit of the problem. The core problem is PRICE GOUGING of enormous proportions by the hospital and pharmaceutical industries.

Welcome To Reality, IDIOTS! – By Karl Denninger

      Time for this one again:

In place of quick service and painless billing, these Virginians are now facing the threat of sticker-shock that comes with bills they can’t afford.

‘They had no idea if my insurance was active or not!’ a coughing Maria Galvez told MailOnline outside the Inova Healthplex facility in the town of Springfield.

She was leaving the building without getting a needed chest x-ray.

‘The people in there told me that since I didn’t have an insurance card, I would be billed for the whole cost of the x-ray,’ Galvez said, her young daughter in tow. ‘It’s not fair – you know, I signed up last week like I was supposed to.’

The x-ray’s cost, she was told, would likely be more than $500.

      An X-ray shouldn’t cost more than $50.

But it’s $500, and even if you actually have the insurance under Brosurance, otherwise known as “Obaminationcare”, you are going to get the entire $500 bill anyway.

      Why?

Because you have a $5,500 deductible, and until you pay that $5,500 out of your pocket you get nothing from the so-called “insurance” except the monthly bill that automatically comes out of your checking account.

And if you don’t have that $5,500 unless you’re literally dying right here, right now the doctor or hospital will not see you — until you prove you can pay him first.

If you thought this wasn’t what you were going to get you’re not very bright.

      http://market-ticker.org/akcs-www?post=227272

      • billtheguy

I agree Socalbeachdude, Gouging is truly going on. $5.48 for a wooden tongue depressor? I can get a bag of 25 for $2.49. $4.03 for 1 bandaid? And I hear the AMA only allows so many DRS in the USA. Can you tell me if that is true?

        • socalbeachdude

I don’t know the AMAs specific policies on that matter, but what I do know is that there are 3 times as many students in law schools than in medical schools in the US and that situation should be reversed.

      • Carl

Socal likes to talk outside of both sides of his/her mouth. When I posted about how it was wrong for hospitals to bill the uninsured ridiculous prices socal said that it was OK to do just that and was not wrong. Now socal is commenting on just the opposite. Fascinating.

Also please do not lie about the deductible. If you go to the obama care website only the lowest bronze plan requires you to pay that. Many of the other bronze plans and silver have smaller deductibles and copays only for doctor visits.

Bash obama care if you want but don’t tell lies. The truth while it may not pack as much of a punch is always the best option.

        • socalbeachdude

As noted above, you apparently have extremely poor reading comprehension capabilities. What I stated in each comment is not in even the slightest way contradictory.

Insurers have a right and DUTY to negotiate lower prices for their insureds.

Hospitals and pharmaceuticals are engaging in vast PRICE GOUGING but that is an entirely separate and distinct issue that has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with insurance.

Soon you won’t have to worry at all about the distinction among various ACA plans as NONE OF THEM WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ANYONE AT ANY PRICE as medical expense insures all leave this money losing market and withdraw any and all coverages from availability.

          • Carl

The point is that hospitals should not be charging uninsured and insured patients 2 different rates.

          • socalbeachdude

Why not? There is nothing wrong in doing that at all when insurers negotiate lower rates from the absurdly high rates for their own insureds.

          • Carl

So hospitals gouge the uninsured to make up for the losses for the insured. Everything is unfair to people when they are on the short end of the stick. When you are on the other side people think everything is just great the way it is.

          • socalbeachdude

No. Hospitals charge the STANDARD PRICE to people who are insured while allowing discounts to insurers who negotiate lower rates. What is so difficult for you to comprehend about that simple and very straightforward fact?

          • Carl

The standard price is gouging and completely made up numbers. If they are discounting the service then they have to make up that loss somewhere else. There is no such thing as a discount. Heck even those credit card discounts that discover and all the others promote are stolen from the merchants who accept their credit cards. Someone always loses and it is usually the smallest fish who has the least amount of power.

          • socalbeachdude

No doubt, but that is a key issue that ObamaScare TOTALLY FAILED TO ADDRESS and which is the core issue that needs to be addressed.

          • Carl

Exactly. That is the issue that not even trump mentions. Nor any of the republicans with their so called replacements to obama care.

          • socalbeachdude

            Absolutely correct.

  • billtheguy

Someone has to pay. It will be the taxpayer/consumer one way or the other. Before Obummercare you have hospitals, doctors, insurance companies specialists and the patient. Obummercare added the government to the mix. How does that fix the overwhelming problem by having more entities? I would be happy to pay a 5% tax and get it over with. Anyone who gets a paycheck pays 5%

    • socalbeachdude

Obviously that would be totally insufficient to cover the costs of providing medical expense insurance to people.

    • Jerry C

Always on the backs of taxpayers; and by taxpayers, I’m referring to the ever-shrinking middle-class. The rich don’t pay any taxes do to tax loopholes and the poor don’t pay any taxes, well, because they’re poor. It’s always on the backs of hard-working middle-class. It’s only another 5% here; 5% there.

How about this? Zero taxes. Up the sales tax on everything for a flat 10%. Done.

      • socalbeachdude

The top 20% of income earners in the US pay more than 80% of all federal income taxes. The bottom 50% pay no federal income taxes and many of those get tax refunds for earned income tax credits. The notion of a “flat tax” is not only very stupid but highly regressive.

  • aliceinwonder

The betrayal will be devastating. It may wake people up enough to let their “representatives” know how angry we are….and that they will not be re-elected. • JC Teecher

There is one, albeit not organized as it should be.
It is called the “Constitutional Party”, or Constitutionalists.

Silver reached its peak high of $50 per ounce in January 1980 and then spent the next 24 years collapsing by 90% down to $4 per ounce and then hit $50 again in 2011 and has now plunged 64% from that level down to around $18 per ounce in 2017 and is headed towards full reversion of its mean to around $6 to $8 per ounce.

I pay for mine and perhaps yours also, you see I am not one who gets free stuff from the government teat, I earn what I have.

  • Carl

Obamacare is affordable depending on your income. If I make 30,000 a year I can get a silver family plan for 2 for 148.00 a month with only a 2,000 deductible.

Now if I make 40,000 plus a year this is where the rates really increase and I am paying about 230.00 for the lowest cost plan with at minimum a 10,000 deductible.

Now if I have 2 kids and make 40,000 plus a year the cost is about $150.00 and the deductibles are about 10,000 for the cheapest plan.

So yes this health care plan is affordable only for catastrophic medical care for say surgery, etc. Having to meet an individual deductible of 6,000 for doctor visits before coverage is not affordable. However, the cost of the plan at under $300.00 a year if you have serious medical conditions is reasonable.

    • Carl

Correction about the deductible. Only on the lowest bronze plans do you have to meet a really high deductible. By paying an extra 30.00 or so more a month you can get a silver plan which has 2000.00 deductibles and 30.00 co-pays on office visits.

The losers in the ACA seem to be married couples without children earning 40,000 plus a year.

Winners are anyone who has children and especially those under 30,000 a year.

So unlike what critics of obamacare say and lies we have read online it is affordable for most people.

The truth is always a bitter pill to swallow and each side always fudges the numbers to make their case stronger than the others.

      • HadItWithThem

The REAL “losers” are the ones that make $35,000 a year (the cutoff is 35k not 40k ) plus a year and have children. I have ONE child and the calculations for a Bronze plan are $1003.79 a month with a 14,000 dollar deductible. You are talking out of the side of your face. I KNOW people that have to pay this. So, do you want your “bitter pill” orally or anally?

  • Zlatko Milanovic

Won’t be mad at all, I want all of us to have affordable health care. Don’t you?

    • socalbeachdude

      Huh? At WHOSE EXPENSE?

      • Zlatko Milanovic

At all of our expense, dude. Share the cost, spread out the risk. I do care if poor kids have health insurance or not. I believe it’s a right, and this country can easily afford it. Richest nation in the world can pay for it. It is what Christ would want us to do. Clearly. Obviously.

        • socalbeachdude

If you want that kind of STUFF then YOU PAY FOR IT YOURSELF. There is no “right” whatsoever to medical expense coverage beyond emergency room treatment not should there be in the USA.

The reason the USA is INSOLVENT is because of stupid people of your ilk wanting government (the taxpayers) to pay for more and more nonsense which is precisely why the USA is now $20 trillion in debt at the federal government level and what needs to be done is to very substantially cut – not increase – all federal spending without further delay.

          • Carl

If people don’t have a right to medical care then have the government STOP paying to fund the research on any and all pharmaceutical drugs since technically our tax dollars are going to this. This way those who have money can fund the research themselves for their own illnesses and ailments.

          • socalbeachdude

I’m perfectly fine with getting the federal government out of any and all medical related matters. The sooner the better.

          • Zlatko Milanovic

I can tell you’re shouting from the dark, bold letters you used. The debt was caused by endless wars, tax breaks for the wealthy, and the banksters who collapsed the economy in 2008. Talk about that…

          • socalbeachdude

What utter nonsense. The massive $20 trillion US government debt was mostly caused by EXCESSIVE SOCIAL SPENDING which now comprises around 67% of the budget including Veterans benefits while actual military spending (including “wars”) is just 16% of the annual federal government budget.

          • socalbeachdude

Federal government spending is VERY HUGE PROBLEM and the biggest issue with US government spending is that around 63% is being spent each year on SOCIAL WELFARE AND MEDICAL EXPENSES and that amount will continue to rise dramatically.

There is very little in the way of federal spending that is “corruption” or “waste” and that is a totally bogus argument. Military spending including Veterans benefits amounts to only about 20% of total annual federal government spending.

Only 20% of the US government annual spending is for total military spending with 16% for actual military spending and 4% for Veterans Benefits.

The biggest part of the spending is SOCIAL PROGRAMS including the Social Security and Medicare insurance programs which are NOT ACTUARILY SOUND and which are paying out vastly more than they have taken in with payroll taxes.

A summary of the fiscal 2015 US federal government expenditures totaling nearly $4 trillion is as follows:

            WELFARE & MEDICAL (63%)
            33% Social Security, Unemployment, Labor
            27% Medicare & Health
            ..3% Housing & Community

            MILITARY (20%)
            16% Military
            ..4% Veterans Benefits

            INTEREST ON DEBT (6%)
            ..6% Interest on Debt

            FOOD & TRANSPORTATION (6%)
            ..3% Food & Agriculture
            ..3% Transportation

            EDUCATION & SCIENCE (3%)
            ..2% Education
            ..1% Science

            ENERGY, ENVIRONMENT, & INTERNATIONAL (2%)
            ..1% International Affair
            ..1% Energy & Environment

            OTHER EXPENSES (1%)
            ..1% Government Expenses (general)

The complete breakdown of Fiscal 2015 expenditures is extensively detailed including actual numbers as well as pie-charts with various percentage breakdowns as to discretionary and non-discretionary expenditures at:

Michael, great piece today, and I agree with everything in it. This happens to be in my wheelhouse as a healthcare professional, and former insurance underwriter. I do understand both the growing healthcare cost / delivery model problems that have been instituted over the last 7 years. And I do understand risk, and insurance, and the traditional methods used by companies to predict future risk. This would then allow them to estimate accurately whether or not they needed to adjust premiums for customers. And yes, there were cases when the population performance was less than the predicted risk where certain groups’ premiums were lowered some years. Now with Obama care we see just the opposite. When all “pre existing” diseases are covered, there is just no way a company can anticipate all the “unhealthy”(high cost) members that will sign up AFTER they realize they have a problem, and remain profitable. So they jack up premiums galore, and get away with it because. So because we have no risk appraisal on the front side going on, this set up absolutely needs the mandate of coverage to stay viable. Without the requirements of young healthy people buying insurance, they obviously wouldn’t on their own, and the system would crumble for lack of funding very quickly. But when you mandate with a stick that EVERYONE must be covered, it pays for those unhealthy risks. As actuarials in the traditional systems would point out, people under age 41 generally cost the healthcare system and insurance companies 0 $. So in essence, if you are under age 41, or above that age and without any chronic conditions, you’ve been greatly taken advantage of over the last several years.
Now, there are certain elements of Obamacare that are actually good. Those have to do with quality measures, and reimbursements tied to better, or improving outcomes. But that discussion is for another day.
My take on Trump, he’s done an incredible job on a great number of things, but until he starts “draining that swamp”, which can only start by bringing charges against Hillary, then he’s just another politician in the establishments cycle of things. After all, isn’t he the law and order guy? How can we have that if he allows some to continue to be above the law?

ObamaScare will simply IMPLODE as the few medical expense insurers shut down availability of any and all coverages in those markets leaving it a program without any insurers to offer any coverage.

That is already happening in spades and nearly all of the original ObamaScare co-ops have shut down and the remaining few are facing insolvency. No insurer can or will offer coverage at a loss and that reality is finally starting to dawn on the very stupid supports of this nonsense.

  • socalbeachdude

The core principles of insurance are based on the RISK OF LOSS and the LAW OF LARGE NUMBERS in order to develop actuarily sound premiums that are affordable while maintaining solvency (and hopefully profitability) for the insurance companies that offer coverages. In order for those principles to be achieved there MUST BE SOUND UNDERWRITING AND EXCLUSION OF GUARANTEED AND CATASTROPHIC LOSSES or else insurance premiums would not be affordable and insurance companies would not be able to MAINTAIN SOLVENCY as they are required to do by all state laws which regulate all classes of insurance.

The ACA violates the core principles of insurance which would result in extreme ADVERSE RISK SELECTION where those with guaranteed losses flock to obtain coverages which would very rapidly render all medical expense insurers INSOLVENT.

The ACA is really just a COST SHIFTING MECHANISM from those with losses to a third party. If that third party were the US government, then that would be a different story. Unlike the federal government, insurance companies are NOT A BOTTOMLESS PIT OF LOSSES and cannot be for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that they are not allowed to be by state laws regulating insurance companies which require SOLVENCY at all times.

This Atrocious Care Act nonsense is the biggest boondoggle in US government history and will not survive for a huge variety of reasons.

There is no way that the ACA can remain. The Achilles heal is the the MASSIVE LOSSES IMPOSED ON MEDICAL EXPENSE INSURERS who cannot and will not continue to offer medical expense coverages. I think that was the intent in the first place in order to force a “single payer system” and drive the medical expense insurers totally out of business. The only other explanation would be TOTAL IGNORANCE OF INSURANCE PRINCIPLES by those who wrote the legislation. Either way, the result of NO MEDICAL INSURANCE AVAILABLE will rapidly be the same.

Insurance companies that offer medical expenses coverages are the BIGGEST LOSERS with this debacle and will soon be WITHDRAWING ANY AND ALL MEDICAL EXPENSE COVERAGES FROM THE MARKET and shutting down medical expense insurance operations as they will be have no choice but to do so as they would be RENDERED INSOLVENT if they continued to offer coverages.

    • Carl

The subsidies were the only good thing for many about obama care. Freakin greedy repubs always trying to do their trickle down theory – which makes sense since many have been in office so long they get their depends delivered for free and at the tax payers expense.

      • socalbeachdude

The subsidies were a DEAD WRONG WASTE OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS and should never have been part of this hogwash and should be entirely repealed along with this whole ATROCIOUS CARE ACT (ACA).

        • Carl

You are wrong. The subsidies are the only way that you can put affordable in the affordable heath care act.

          • socalbeachdude

Total BS. No insurers will even be offering any medical expense coverage very soon and most all of substantially already withdrawing from offering any coverages due to MASSIVE LOSSES which the subsidies don’t even begin to cover. ABOLISH THIS ACA BS ASAP.

          • Carl

They are suffering massive losses because #1 the doctors and hospitals have jacked up rates for procedures since they gravy is now flowing more freely. Not to mention the government did not pay the insurance companies as promised.

          • socalbeachdude

You apparently have huge reading comprehension problems as the silver plans are very inferior to gold plans and all of the metallic plans are utter garbage and need to be immediately repealed.

    • Carl

I am sure the gold plan is “top notch.” as it’s color implies. Yet even a gold plan on obamacare is no better than the doctors you have to see that accept this coverage.

      • socalbeachdude

The “gold” plan is not the top tier plan. The platinum plan is. The bronze, silver, gold, and platinum plans which are the only 4 available under Obamascare are OUTRAGEOUSLY AWFUL and have much higher premiums and vastly higher deductibles and are EXTREMELY SUBSTANDARD relative to coverage available prior to the destruction of medical insurance by ObamaScare.

        • Carl

Sorry you are spewing nonsense. The silver, gold and up plans you speak of are more expensive but have lower deductibles. Plus doctor copays (that you don’t have to meet the deductible for). As with social security which you do not have to pay on income above 118,000 dollars the poor are getting hosed. As if they can only afford the cheapest bronze plan they have the high deductibles.

          • socalbeachdude

Huh? Learn to comprehend. The “best” available plans are the PLATINUM plans and all of the plans are ATROCIOUS. Nobody is “getting hosed” at all on Social Security – which is an entirely separate and distinct issue – as benefits are CAPPED FOR PEOPLE WHO EARN MORE THAN $118,000 and Social Security is an INSURANCE PLAN that pays benefits based on what people pay into it with a maximum limit for benefits which is the reason there is a cap on the amount of income taxed for it.

          • Carl

Actually people are getting hosed on social security. The tax rate is 15.3% of which your employer pays half and if you are self employed you pay the full amount. Why shouldn’t all income be taxed for social security? Why cap it at 118,000 of income? Are people who make over this amount a year excluded from social security?

          • socalbeachdude

Why would any more than $118,000 of income be taxed for Social Security when BENEFITS ARE CAPPED? By the way, that is NOT A GENERAL TAX but an INSURANCE PROGRAM people are paying into with Social Security. Everyone is included in the Social Security benefits program who is a US citizen who has worked at least 40 quarters (10 years) during their lifetime and paid SS charges, but nobody gets more than a specified maximum amount of benefits.

          • Carl

If the income was not capped they would have more SS money in the bank. Though since the government has been raiding the ss fund probably not.

          • socalbeachdude

Social Security has NO RIGHT OR BUSINESS TAXING MORE THAN $118,000 of income for the simple reason that benefits are capped. What is so difficult for you to comprehend about that very simple and straightforward fact? Social Security is an INSURANCE PROGRAM with benefits to individuals based on what they paid into the program and not a general tax on US citizens.

Aetna CEO: Obamacare in ‘Death Spiral’

Aetna Inc. Chief Executive Officer Mark Bertolini escalated his criticism of the Affordable Care Act, saying Obamacare’s markets are nearing failure as premiums climb and healthier individuals drop out.

“It is in a death spiral,” Bertolini said in a video interview with the Wall Street Journal that aired Wednesday on the newspaper’s website. He predicted that more insurers will drop out of the market for 2018, following Humana Inc.’s decision to quit Obamacare entirely for next year.

Aetna, too, is mulling whether to further reduce its presence in the markets set up by the ACA. The company cut its footprint to four states for this year, from 15, after losing about $450 million on sales of ACA plans last year.

Bertolini has been saying for months that the ACA’s markets are deteriorating. In October, he said that rising rates would push healthy people away from Obamacare, leaving insurers with sicker customers, and forcing premiums even higher. The increasing burden of medical costs as fewer and fewer healthy customers enroll are among the conditions that create an insurance death spiral.

Health Law Tax Penalty? I’ll Take It, Millions Say

The architects of the Affordable Care Act thought they had a blunt instrument to force people — even young and healthy ones — to buy insurance through the law’s online marketplaces: a tax penalty for those who remain uninsured.

It has not worked all that well, and that is at least partly to blame for soaring premiums next year on some of the health law’s insurance exchanges.

The full weight of the penalty will not be felt until April, when those who have avoided buying insurance will face penalties of around $700 a person or more. But even then that might not be enough: For the young and healthy who are badly needed to make the exchanges work, it is sometimes cheaper to pay the Internal Revenue Service than an insurance company charging large premiums, with huge deductibles.

Near ‘Collapse,’ Minnesota to Raise Obamacare Rates by Half

Minnesota will let the health insurers in its Obamacare market raise rates by at least 50 percent next year, after the individual market there came to the brink of collapse, the state’s commerce commissioner said Friday.

The increases range from 50 percent to 67 percent, Commissioner Mike Rothman’s office said in a statement. Rothman, who regulates the state’s insurers, is an appointee under Governor Mark Dayton, a Democrat. The rate hike follows increases for this year of 14 percent to 49 percent.

“It’s in an emergency situation — we worked hard and avoided a collapse.” Rothman said in a telephone interview. “It’s a stopgap for 2017.”

    OBAMASCARE CO-OPS COLLAPSING…

    Illinois Obamacare Co-op Becomes 16th to Collapse…

Sixteen Obamacare co-ops have now failed. Illinois announced that Land of Lincoln Health, a taxpayer funded Obamacare co-op, would close its doors, leaving 49,000 without insurance. The co-op now joins a list of 15 other Obamacare co-ops that have collapsed since Obamacare has been implemented. Failed co-ops have now cost taxpayers more than $1.7 billion in funds that may never be recovered.

Co-ops were hyped as not-for-profit alternatives to traditional insurance companies created under Obamacare. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) financed co-ops with startup and solvency loans, totaling more than $2.4 billion in taxpayer dollars. They have failed to become sustainable with many collapsing amid the failure of Obamacare exchanges.

Since September, 13 Obamacare co-ops have collapsed, with only seven of the original 23 co-ops remaining.

Obamacare co-ops have also been plagued by inept management and unrealistic business models.

As a report by the Daily Caller’s Richard Pollock found, 17 of the 21 co-ops paid out gratuitous salaries to executives reaching as high as $587,000, which is more than four times as much as the $135,000 median health insurance executive salary. Worse still, many of these executives had little to no experience in the insurance industry and some of these excessive salaries were disguised in financial documents as “management fees.” Last year, 21 of 23 co-ops posted losses.

Given the trend of failing Obamacare co-ops, the collapse of the Illinois co-op will not be the last.

A list of all failed co-ops and their cost to taxpayers compiled by the House Energy and Commerce Committee is found below:

FOR 2017 AETNA CANCELS OBAMASCARE COVERAGE IN 11 STATES

MILLIONS OF POLICIES TO BE CANCELLED…

Aetna pulls back on Obamacare health insurance plans in 2017

Aetna Inc, the No. 3 U.S. health insurer, on Monday said that due to persistent financial losses on Obamacare plans, it will sell individual insurance on the government-run online marketplaces in only four states next year, down from the current 15 states.

Aetna’s decision follows similar moves from UnitedHealth Group Inc. and Humana Inc., which have cited similar concerns about financial losses on these exchanges created under President Barack Obama’s national healthcare reform law.

Aetna is also trying to buy Humana and is currently fighting a U.S. government lawsuit aimed at blocking the $34 billion deal.

Aetna, which earlier this year said it was too soon to give up on the exchanges despite its challenges, this month signaled it was reconsidering. On Aug. 2, the company said it would not expand in 2017 and would review all its individual business.

One of the key problems in the US with delivery of and payment for medical services is that there are a NUMBER OF OVERLAPPING systems, including:

    1) Self-insurance by both companies for their employees and and by individuals

    2) Individual medical expense insurance with a variety of plans ranging for MAJOR MEDICAL coverages only to COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL coverages

    3) Group medical expense insurance which operates differently in many respects from individual medical expense insurance

    4) Workers Compensation insurance which becomes primary for workers injured on the job in the course of employment and which has been expanded way beyond its original definition of injuries especially in terms of work cause illness and mental issues

    5) MEDICAID which operates different in each state based on the design of state Medicaid plans which are partially but not completely subsidized by the federal Medicaid program. Some states offer extremely extensive coverages while other states do not offer any version of Medicaid for those unable to pay their own medical bills.

    6) Charity medical services including both CLINICS and HOSPITALS

    7) Medicare which has 4 separate parts and which applies only to those over 65 or persons who are on Social Security Disability. Medicare Part A has no premium for those who qualify and covers basic hospital services. Medicare Part B has an additional premium of $104.90 per month and covers doctors and other specified services and is deducted from Social Security payments for those who qualify and apply for it. Medicare Part C is an experimental option of Medicare A recipients and acts similar to Medicare Supplemental Insurance and while being phased out is still offered by such providers as SCAN, and Medicare Part D which is a huge complicated mess involving private insurers subsidized by the federal government for the purpose of pharmaceutical drug coverages,

    8) Private Medicare Supplemental Insurance which comes in a complex variety of FEDERALLY SPECIFIED plans Name “A” through “F” which offer certain specified additional benefits to Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B.

    9) ACA which throws the who existing system of medical distribution and coverages into total and complete disarray by meddling with nearly all of the categories above and attempting to push the COSTS AND LOSSES onto private insurance companies along with penalties and high premiums for potential insureds.

  • socalbeachdude

There’s really very little to explain about Obamascare other than:

    1) It violates all core principles of insurance

    2) Medical expense costs will soar dramatically for everyone

    3) ACA will SELF-IMPLODE as it will renders insurers INSOLVENT

    4) The goal is a total government takeover of medical care

  • socalbeachdude

The ACA is a TRAVESTY AND TOTAL WRECKAGE that will DESTROY THE MEDICAL SYSTEM IN THE US AND SELF-IMPLODE.

The ACA is NOT INSURANCE AT ALL but rather MEDDLING IN MEDICAL EXPENSE INSURANCE while VIOLATING ALL OF THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF INSURANCE INCLUDING:

Risk of loss versus guaranteed losses

Actuarial soundness based on morbidity tables

Sound underwriting including excluding pre-existing conditions

Proper pricing of premiums relative to risk

Obviously, medical expense insurance CANNOT REMAIN SOLVENT with the ACA and will have no choice BUT TO WITHDRAW FROM THE MARKET and CANCEL ANY AND ALL COVERAGE FOR MEDICAL EXPENSES

    • GSOB

and to top that all off with,…..in its beginnings, the ACA was a republican idea.

  • socalbeachdude

The best and most effective ways to get medical costs down are:

    1) Implement the VA plan on pharmaceutical drugs for all Americans which would bring the cost of drugs down by 93% and make them available to 7% of their current costs.

    2) revise the fee schedules to hospitals downwards by 80% or more on most all procedures many of which are being billed at around $150,000 per hour or more

    3) Educate vastly more doctors than we now have in the USA.

  • HadItWithThem

Still talking out of the side of your face huh? YOU are the one lying telling people that odumbo care is affordable! Yes it is affordable to the poor people, but people like me have to pay for them AND me and my family which is BS! If i could attach a screenshot of the rates that came up for me and my family I surely would. It is futile to argue with an ID10T though..

  • TRW

Enforce the current anti-trust laws on the books Let me also remind you that willful and intentional refusal to enforce anti-trust law against all medical firms — hospitals, diagnostic centers, your local physician’s group practice, drug companies and supply firms along with insurance “deals” — is why this rate of expansion has occurred and it will detonate the federal budget within the next five years if it is not conclusively stopped and unwound, returning a now nearly-$4 trillion industry to its former percentage of GDP, which would be about $1 trillion.

That’s right — a reduction of more than 75% in both cost and expenditure must take place now, at which point virtually everyone could afford to pay cash.

When we talk about half of the population having to pay for the health care of the other half of the population, then there is something wrong – not with the cost of healthcare, but in the way the money is distributed across the population, which which is getting to be more and more uneven every day thanks to ‘Supply Side’ economics which does not even mention the role of the consumers, but is only concerned with ‘make it and they will buy it’ which assumes that people will have the money to buy other than the essentials. A great proportion of the economy is now composed of us retireees who have to spend every cent of income that we get – much of it from the Federal Government from SS, VA and Veterans retirement and other retirement systems managed by the Federal Government, which we considered to be earned benefits, but are now debased as ‘entitlements’. Last year our cost of living adjustments were a whole 3/10ths of 1% while our actual costs of living increased by at least 5%, which we would have spent. When I joined the USMC 60 years ago my contract with the government said that if I was injured during the course of my service, that the government would give me a pension and provide the health care because of the preexisting conditions caused by military service, that I would not be able to provide for myself. That means that the taxpayers agreed to this, but the current Congress and those of the past 20 or so years have been underfunding the VA Healthcare system to the point where I would have been really glad to have had insurance under any other system. Almost 5 years ago I noticed a sudden change in vision in one eye, and if I would have had medicare (which would have been redundant) I would still have vision in that eye, but having to wait for 7 months just for a diagnosis, now has no functional vision, and to the Congress this is no big deal but to me it is a great loss – just to save the taxpayers (actuallly mostly the wealthy) money so that they could go out and make pennies on each trade on the stock market just to increase their wealth. With Supply Side economics, which does not work, we have essentially created an almost $20 Trillion dollar debt, just so that the 1% could have even more wealth. Only Bernie talked about the disparity in wealth and its problems – which also include paying for healthcare for those of us who cannot afford it – if their tax cuts over the past 35 years had been distributed to those who needed the money the most – the middle and lower economic classes – we would have been able to buy our own insurance, but since the money did not go to where it was most needed, it is either their paying for our care or us dying off. For the past 6 years the House has voted more than 60 times to repeal the ACA without replacement and are now getting hit in the face with the fact that if they do the repeal without replacement that about half of the population will be really angry, but they still have no replacement, and a few months ago the voters are now discovering that they were sold a bill of goods that will only hurt them. Now it seems that the gerat priorities for chief yellow hair is to utterly waste the money that is available on the building of a utterly worthless wall and getting rid of people who actually work for a living because Congress has not kept up with the times by keeping our immigration laws current. The 20 vet deaths by suicide, or over 7.000 per year totals more than all of the terrorist attacks over the past 20 years combined, but are not being considered. The real terrorists in our system are those who want to receive all of the benefits of our system without taking any of the risks or responsibilities that would go along with the benefits. I am getting paid by the VA to take part in the protests against the agenda of chief yellow hair because what I want is in my best interest, not the best interests of the money hoarders. May heads roll!

    • JC Teecher

Two questions. Where would this nation be heading without chief yellow hair?

How many more jihadists and the illegals that suck off of the taxpayers dime, would pour in, without a wall of border security?

  • Victoria Smith

They ran on stopping it in 2010, if we gave them the House. We gave them the House. They ran on repealing in 2014, if we gave them the Senate. We gave them the Senate. This time, President Trump ran on doing the same. Now, “they” have the Congress (both Houses), and the Executive Branch. What is the excuse now? Obamacare needs to be gone.

    • socalbeachdude

      Indeed, REPEAL THIS GARBAGE IMMEDIATELY.

I would blame the Democrats that block everything that Trump puts forward, then their are the Republicans that claim to be Republican but are really closet Democrats…this is dirty rotten Obama’s doing…the traitor that ruled the Whitehouse for 8 years…the fake with the fake birth certificate.

  • stashgal

We have already suffered through a system that had only private for profit insurance as a way to pay for some health care, millions were left with nothing, millions of others were bankrupted & lost everything by uncovered expenses even though they had health insurance. PROFITS were & still are more important than providing access to health CARE.
Medicare for ALL is the only option left but it looks like we will collapse well before such a system can be enacted.

    • socalbeachdude

What utter nonsense. Medical expense coverage is NOT AN APPROPRIATE ROLE FOR GOVERNMENT nor should government bear the huge costs of funding that sort of stuff for people. It is the responsibility of individuals to pay for their own medical expenses. As to insurance, state insurance commissions require that every insurer MAINTAIN SOLVENCY which they cannot do without profits and if they fail to remain solvent they will be SHUT DOWN by state insurance commissions.

Medicare is NOT AN OPTION for anyone under the age of 65 or those with disabilities, NOR SHOULD IT BE.

      • stashgal

So your a supporter of ” social Darwinism”?
If you can’t afford to get health care, you suffer, you die.
While I can see how an employer shouldn’t be expected to pay more for a person with a family of 10 & less for a single person, I certainly would not want to live in a country so barbaric that the working poor, of which we have many, would be left to die if injured or sick if they didn’t have enough money to cover the expense of their care.

There needs to be limits to how much profit can be removed from income when the product provided is access to health care. Too many insurance companies take too much out in profit & leave too little to pay for their expenses so they cut pay outs, raise premiums, cover fewer procedures.
Medicare isn’t allowed to negotiate for lower drug prices for it’s patients, thanks to deregulation, we pay the highest drug prices in the western world.
Medicare works much like insurance, we PAY for the service, it’s taken from our SS checks each month, we PAY when we see a doctor or receive medical service, Medicare is NOT “free”, we PAY for it while we are working & PAY Medicare premiums when we are on SS.

What makes Medicare different from private insurance is that you can’t opt out of paying for Medicare & Medicare is non profit while private insurance is for profit & you can avoid buying health insurance, while profit isn’t “evil” in itself, the point of most business is to maximize profits without losing customers, in health care, cutting access to care to improve profits can risk your health or even your life.

        • JC Teecher

Although I do agree with most of what you are saying; the idea that medicare is non-profit, is simply not true.

My wife has had Medicare for three years and with two different providers of the two parts that pay the 80% of Emergency, hospitalization, and prescription benefits.
These benefits cost each month to the tune of over $100.00, out of her pocket, and are not provided with Medicare.

Medicare only pays for medical care which involves a network Doctor, and not for prescrips and such.

The Insurance Provider, which is under the authority of Medicare, is a “for profit” company, and when they deem it is not profitable, under their discretion, they end their partnership.

In all fairness, most of the patients that are under the Medicare minimum benefits, without any other help, are at the mercy of the system of which may, or may not help save their life.
Also, they had to pay at some point to receive this help. but it isn’t fairly appropriated.

          • socalbeachdude

Medicare is a VASTLY MONEY LOSING BOONDOGGLE spending vastly more than it collects in the way of premiums over the life of employees and in Part B or D benefit premiums and is one of the biggest financial drains on the US government budget each year.

          • stashgal

Medicare is non profit, you signed on to a PRIVATE FOR PROFIT medicare “advantage” plan not the original Medicare.
Under the original Medicare I can go to ANY DOCTOR, there is no list of acceptable providers, just PRIVATE FOR PROFIT INSURANCE DOES THAT.
I had already heard about how those so called “advantage” plans gouge the insured by cutting care, limiting access to doctors, raising deductables & premiums to the point where your better off without it.
Yes, I have Medicare premiums taken out of my SS each month, Medicare doesn’t cover my drugs, I have to pay out of pocket for my GENERIC drugs.
I won’t buy brand name drugs still under patents because their too dam EXPENSIVE!
I even had to locate a generic drug myself when my doctor wanted to prescribe an expensive brand name statin drug, I found the generic version & I’ve been taking that for years, does the job just fine & for less.

        • JC Teecher

Medicaid is the only provider of free and totally non profit medical care. It does have it’s limitations, but free to those who qualify.

Qualifications for those that come in illegally, legally, awaiting citizenship, and under the refugee program, have fewer, or no requirements, while natural born citizens have to jump through hoops to receive any free medical benefits.

          Doesn’t seem fair.

          • socalbeachdude

Anyone with an income below a certain threshold under ObamaScare is FORCED INTO THE MEDICAID PROGRAM and has no choice whatsoever about that matter.

        • socalbeachdude

You apparently do not comprehend that President Reagan signed into law provision of emergency medical services at no charge back in the 1980s and that anyone who is “poor” has been able to enroll in MEDICAID which is provided through states and largely funded by the federal government for many decades.

Most all of what ObamaScare did for the “poor” was to vastly expand the available of MEDICAID and did so through eliminating the assets mean testing that used to be applicable for recipients to get MEDICAID (just like all other welfare programs) involving the federal government.

Nearly all medical expense insurers – and there are very few even left – have very little profit and the ACA coverages that those who participate are offering have HUGE LOSSES due to mandated coverage of pre-existing conditions which is why nearly all major companies are SHUTTING DOWN THE AVAILABILITY OF ACA COVERAGES. No insurer can or will operate at a loss or they would be SHUT DOWN BY STATE INSURANCE COMMISSIONS.

All drug costs including those paid by MEDICARE should be subject to negotiation between insurers and the pharmaceutical companies just like the government itself does with the VA (Veterans Administration) Tri-Care program resulting in a cost reduction of around 93% on average for drugs.

Outrageous charges by hospitals, big pharma …….. greed.

Greed is definitely the guiding reality of Un-ACA. Then next it is about control. I haven’t taken the time to read what is in the monstrosity document; however; I have read enough of what others have stated that is in it, to know that it was orchestrated out of a future planned tool of control, over all Americans.

Forced vaccinations and immunizations by gov, is at the heart. what is in those syringes of death, is what will be the downfall of mankind in America. Most Politicians don’t care because they are driven by evil forces of greed of the moment. Here and now gratification.

I see that you did not READ your bible!

It was written in there that Jesus was going to return while the people he was speaking to were STILL ALIVE! Those standing here would live to see him return in glory with the father, they were still waiting for his return, they were expecting to be carried up into the clouds with Jesus before all of them had died.

Guess what, their ALL DEAD, he never returned & he never will.
He was not the son of the “god” of Israel because there are no “gods” all “gods” are human inventions used to gain control wealth & power.
      Works doesn’t it.
Religion is a business, a very profitable business, one that is used by many governments to control their people, selling them that “pie in the sky when you die” & there are billions of fools who still believe that. I guess your one of them.

I knew it! You are a mini god. Most mini gods can’t handle being corrected, because they never are wrong …in their twisted minds.

Well, you are the one that hasn’t any understanding of the bible , nor God’s Holy Plan.

I am in the Word at least 4 to 5 hours everyday, and am led to understanding by the Holy Spirit. I don’t need any man to preach to me or to correct me as the Holy Spirit is fully capable of handling all that, and has been for many many years.

Once I came to the realization that the Spirit of Christ and the Father was within me, and all I had to do is call on them, then their words of truth flowed like an easy river into my being.

I will say a prayer for your soul, and hope you receive the convictions needed to get you started on the path to light and truth, and off the path of darkness you are on. Amen.

VERY, The government has no place in America ruling over Our health care, regulations and rules and especially for the insurance industry YES. Gov. health care is a communist thing, NOT AMERICAN!!! Our closest neighbor and a big ally Canada has it kind of, and look, for decades their Citizens came to America to get quality health care and operations done right!!!!

    • socalbeachdude

Private insurers cannot offer CATASTROPHIC medical expense coverage with guaranteed losses or any other sort of coverage with catastrophic losses such as earthquake or flood insurance which is why they have totally withdrawn from earthquake and flood insurance and are now withdrawing from offering medical insurance. The only party that can issue CATASTROPHIC coverage (at a huge loss) is government (federal and/or state) just as it does with flood and earthquake coverages.

      • Glenn Schantz

BS, spoken like an insurance man, insurance is the biggest racket next to central banks inb the world, they for over a hundred years pay out 1/10th of what they take in, go away troll!!!!

        • socalbeachdude

You obviously have ZERO COMPREHENSION as to the concepts of insurance. All insurers are STATE REGULATED and MUST MAINTAIN SOLVENCY AT ALL TIMES or will be shut down by their state regulators. Insurance covers the RISK OF LOSS and cannot ever cover GUARANTEED LOSSES which is exactly what ObamaScare attempts to force insurers to do and is the core reason why most insurers who initially participated in ObamaScare are entirely shutting down the availability of any medical expenses coverages at all through the ACA exchanges.

          • Glenn Schantz

Exactly and it’s why the Gov. and obamacare will never succeed and has to be repealed and replaced with a regulated fair market of open competition and I’M DONE!!!! The middle class cannot keep paying for the poor, illegals, refugees and pout and pout lazy peoples health care and that’s exactly what obamacare has forced upon them!!!!

          • socalbeachdude

COMPETITION FOR GUARANTEED LOSSES is obviously totally out of the question when it comes to medical expense insurance coverage.

    • socalbeachdude

What is ironic – and totally contradictory – about your view is that you don’t want government to be involved with medical expense coverages but somehow “think” that private insurers (which must operate profitably and solvently) will step in to SUFFER HUGE LOSSES to offer such coverages which certainly will not be the case as nearly all are now withdrawing from offering ACA medical expense insurance coverage.

So what is your Plan B?

It’s gonna be replaced and there will be certain things put in from Obamacare…26 yr olds, pre existing conditions and the whole country will be open across the states for coverage…the fine/tax will be gone…and much more and different packages…similar to coverage with motor vehicles….you buy and pay for what you want and need…

    • socalbeachdude

The insurance industry CANNOT AND WILL NOT offer coverage for pre-existing medical conditions that GUARANTEE LOSSES as they are required in all 50 states to MAINTAIN SOLVENCY and covering pre-existing conditions would render them INSOLVENT just as it has done with nearly all of the original 23 co-ops. Insurers are WITHDRAWING all around the country from offering any ACA coverage and we are headed to where NO COMPANY WILL OFFER ANY MEDICAL EXPENSE COVERAGE unless that sort of utter nonsense is totally rescinded.

      • Mr.Cipher

A guys wife I work with has a pretty existing condition. Cancer unfortunately. She now has coverage and our family is paying for it though redistribution. It’s Socialism. It never works.

        • socalbeachdude

Well, she won’t have any private insurance coverage for very long and will have to go on MEDICAID as private insurers totally withdraw from such catastrophic guaranteed losses leaving the state and federal governments as the LAST RESORT COST SHIFTING ENTITIES to cover such costs.

  • Lorungee

All Trump needs to do is sign an executive order cancelling the individual mandate, and all the associated taxes, penalties, ect….all of them. That makes Obamacare safe for America. You want your Obamacare…..You can keep your Obamacare. Just make it voluntary. Do you think that the powers that be care if you have health insurance for your own health ? NO They care if you don’t have health insurance so they can fine and tax the hell out of you. If Trump pulls out those teeth, they have nothing to cudgel or bite you with.

  • Jonathan Brooks

The Republicans will repeal and not replace, because the Obamacare system has already failed, and cannot be repaired.
Boener was removed for his support of Obamacare staying, and Ryan is on political life support.
The “Top Republicans” can deal with this now, or let their primary challengers deal with it later, and I doubt they will die on this hill for the little Dictator, Obama.

Trump has the wind at his back, and the obamacrae system is sinking in the Mud of Despair faster than Atreyho in “Never Ending Story”.

You cannot fix something that never worked, ever. Single Payer cannot replace it, because the US worker and the economy cannot afford it. You might as well rename it Unicorn care, and sprinkle pixie dust on it, because it is imaginary as the Exchanges.

    • socalbeachdude

That pretty much sums up the state of affairs with mandated medical expense insurance coverage in the US! What will remain is MEDICAID which is a massive and immensely costly government boondoggle.

      • Jonathan Brooks

I agree, but I do think Medishare and conscierge doctor systems will survive, which are systems that arose to avoid Obamacare. They are cheaper, and do not have the nutty copay systems the State exchanges do. Basically groups share medical expenses, or a clinic with a doctor to treat medical primary care needs.

        • socalbeachdude

          I fully concur.

  • Robert Morrow

To me these people in Congress are true corrupt Politicians and worship at the feet of the Party Bosses and Never a Senator or Representative be. Therefore I doubt that they will get the Job Done for they are afraid of losing their corrupt Playhouse of robbing the People.

  • socalbeachdude

Insurance can only cover the RISK OF LOSS and operates on the LAW OF LARGE NUMBERS and requires PROPER UNDERWRITING to exclude those with high risk for being afforded coverages. The risk of loss for medical expense insurance coverage is determined by actuarily sound MORBIDITY TABLES and guaranteed losses – particularly catastrophic guaranteed losses – MUST BE EXCLUDED. The ACA blows those core concepts of insurance to shreds and VIOLATES THE VERY CORE PRINCIPLES OF INSURANCE which is why it was guaranteed to fail with no participation from legitimate insurers from its very inception.

  • efred1

First, John Boehner needs to GO AWAY, AND NEVER COME BACK!! Or we’ll throw him into Mount Doom with the One Ding-A-Ling, John McCain.

YES, we’d be SUPER PISSED if Republicans don’t REPEAL Obamacare.

  • JC Teecher

Thanks Chris, and my prayers go out to you and your family.

We are the watchman on the wall, and looking for that glorious day, when the Kingdom comes, after a short period of tribulation.
Spiritually prepped and ready to do battle in these last days…Amen?

    • mtntrek3

I hope so…. . My immaturity in God is showing right now obviously. I’m past the milk mustache stage I believe, but not where I should be altogether in my faith in the Lord. What is to become before the Trib. and especially during it, being described as it is by God Himself….. whew (I’m focusing on the storm again and not enough on God). …… God will give us strength as these things start and continue of course, which we will desperately need (this needs to be my focus). Yes, we pray now and going forward for one another in the strength and discernment/…. all categories in God. Take care JCT. God Bless you and yours. Chris.

The Fiscal Horror Show Playing Soon in Washington…

What is coming down the track is the mother of all debt ceiling showdowns and the virtual certainty of government shutdowns and deferred payments to states, contractors and even some transfer payment beneficiaries.

The boys and girls on Wall Street are so unprepared for this outbreak of fiscal mayhem that they will think that Halloween has come before Labor Day.

I will provide more evidence below for that disastrous scenario. But even before the great debt ceiling crisis of 2017, there will also be a crash landing of the Obamacare repeal and replace effort for the simple reason that the GOP cannot agree on a new version of what will amount to Obamacare Lite and how to pay for it.

  • Anton Ossa

REPEAL OBAMACARE AND REPLACE WITH SINGLE PAYER, THAT WAY EVERYONE IS COVERED AND EVERYONE PAYS!

    • socalbeachdude

What utter nonsense. Single payer PAID TO WHOM and PAID FOR BY WHOM?

  • Richard Hennessy

Angry enough to make contributions and work to defeat the troublemakers.

  • tiaraboo

Obmacare was designed to fail. It was designed to hurt the hard working middle class. It was designed to help America’s demise. Remember Hussien Barack despises America and her people.

  • CharlieZ

I’ll be more angry if they don’t reduce taxes, both corporate and individual.

    • socalbeachdude

Both individual and corporate taxes at the federal level need to be increased very significantly as we are running more than a $1 trillion a year budget deficit.

  • truthtellertoo

What’s with all the religious references here??? A self-contradictory book, the bible, and a dubious preacher, Christ, with no historical verification what soever! We need real solutions to real problems, not pie in the sky.

  • Eternal Light

The program is useless as it stands, however, I’m not concerned over repeal, replace, repair….I just want it fixed…whatever method it involves.
Right now it costs a fortune and covers nothing. Most cannot afford the out of pocket costs if they get sick. If you make too little to get government subsidies and can’t afford the full monthly premiums, they give you a code number to put on your tax return (for NOT having health insurance) to prevent you from paying the $695 fine. So anyone who thinks everyone is now covered by medial insurance is kidding themselves. For those who don’t want to pay, or can’t pay the premiums, its still cheaper to go without and pay the $695 if you don’t want to hassle with the insane website and totally untrained clueless people you will talk to by phone if you dare dial their number.

  • John

If they don’t repeal and replace, they will all be looking for jobs.

  • Cookie Vranish

The Republicans that we allowed back into office would probably be looking for new jobs. We have the voting power and if we don’t get what we want, we have little to lose. Throw the bums out!

  • propercharlie

repealing is probably racist. The horror, the horror.

  • Ghung

I won’t be angry at all. I no longer waste my emotional capital on our collective predicaments and dysfunctional leadership. No mortgage, no debt, no power bill, no utility bills other than internet, very low taxes including property taxes, and very low taxable income,, give me the freedom to let others worry about those things. I’ll let those who are forced to, or choose to, play silly industrial-age games that got us into this mess, deal with it.
Seemed like a helluva way to waste a life.

  • sue lenhart

How angry would I be if Obamacare is not REPEALED? Be warned — “HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE AN AMERICAN CITIZEN/VOTER SCORNED”. Yes, it has really come to that! Don’t insult our intelligence or our resolve by just “fixing” it. There is no “fix” for this pile of garbage! REPEAL IT — DO IT RIGHT — DO IT NOW!!!

  • nohomehere

Well, I don’t think many even have read all 20,000 pages so whats to get mad about something not understood ? It is clear though that the ACA tax increases set to explode this year along with the debt ceiling all convieniently and intensionally pushed to happen under trump and or the republicans whithouse. Trumps speech last night mentioned the debt bomb and the health care bombs as being distinctly obamas and the democrats creation, (I don’t think many caught that)hopefully it’s long enough before it goes off to deflect the planned orchestrated outrage from the 250 local chapters and 30,000 activists. Not to mention the half of the dems in congress who form the divided dem antagonists againt trump!
How can you be angry at trump for anything except his pre election qualification that he is good at bankrupcy and re-organization, Many Important economists experts such as martin armstrong have be blogging advice to trump to restructure the debt! obama care was a tax plane and simple and the tenticles have spread into the system and will take time to cut out without doing economic damage ! So no wouldn’t be mad!

  • socalbeachdude

Nor should anyone be able to get any continuing care for no cost. Obviously!

    • stashgal

      In CIVILIZED COUNTRIES THEY DO!
Civilized countries have universal health care FOR ALL, and it’s free when you need to access it but of course you PAY TAXES to PAY for it, it’s not “free”.
The US is NOT a “civilized” country even though it’s the richest country the world has ever known, 24% of US children live in POVERTY, we have MILLIONS OF HOMELESS & JOBLESS, most of that wealth, 80% is in a few hands & too much of our tax money is wasted on illegal, unjust, immoral WARS, OCCUPATIIONS & THE MILITARY!

  • socalbeachdude

So, who exactly in your scenario would “revolt” and then be in charge of running things?

  • John Pallyswine

RINOs are all over the GOP party. No doubt their bloodlines come from Switzerland. I cannot see any real change in the USA without violence
