Unity - Photo by lumaxartWhatever you may think about the George Zimmerman trial, the truth is that it is yet another example that shows very clearly how divided America is at this point.  I was hesitant to write anything about the Zimmerman trial today, because it seems like the more people talk about it the more divided we become.  But we need to have some honest discussions about these issues, because all of this division threatens to literally tear this nation apart.  If we do not learn how to love one another and forgive one another, America is not going to have any sort of a future.  After all this time, the people of the United States should have been able to get beyond racial hatred.  Instead, it appears to be growing with each passing day.  Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate African-American people.  Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate Hispanic-American people.  Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate Asian-American people.  Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate white people.  Right now, there are millions of Americans that hate Jewish people.  All of this hatred is evil, and it is eating away at our nation like cancer.  The problems that our country is facing are immense, and we are never going to have any hope of solving them until we can forgive one another and start to honestly love one another.

When groups of Americans begin to label other groups of Americans that don't look like them as "the enemy", we all lose.

We should refuse to listen to those that would attempt to divide us and pit us against one another.  We must find a way to come together and overcome all of the bitterness and resentment that is out there.  Those that harbor hatred in their hearts are not doing any good and they are slowly but surely destroying themselves.

We need to start understanding that every human life is of great value.  I doesn't matter what someone looks like or where they are from.  The following is a direct quote from one of our most important founding documents, the Declaration of Independence...

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Indeed, we are all greatly loved and greatly valued by our Creator.  Those that choose to hate a particular group of people are choosing to come against the Creator of us all.

Almost every single day there are people that come to my websites that post comments expressing dislike for one particular group of people or another.  And just about wherever you go on the Internet these days, you can see the hatred rising.  If this continues, what is America going to look like in a few years?

It seems like almost everyone in America has an opinion about how the Zimmerman trial should have ended.  And that is okay.  But no matter how you feel about it, you should not be setting fires, burning American flags, smashing store windows or vandalizing police vehicles.  You should not be trying to convince us all that one group or another is "sub-human" or that one group or another is "superior".  And you should not be attempting to claim that "the Jews" are the root cause of all of our problems.

If you hate a particular group of people, you are part of the problem.

In Matthew chapter 22, Jesus is asked what the greatest commandment is...

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

First of all, we are to love God with everything that is inside of us.

Secondly, we are to love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

So exactly who qualifies as a neighbor?

Jesus answered that question in Luke chapter 10...

30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.

31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.

33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.

36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves?

37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Are you willing to love those that look different than you do?

Of course we all could do better and we have all made mistakes.  That is one reason why forgiveness is so important.

We all need to have grace for one another and to be open to reconciliation.

If Americans are able to forgive one another and start loving one another, we may be able to start moving this country back in the right direction.

If not, strife and discord will literally tear our communities apart.

The choice is up to you America.

    This nation has gone backwards in term of civil rights and the way people treat each other in this country. The 60s and 70s were a time of acceptance, appreciation and tolerance but it’s been a steady downhill decline since the 80s. We have reached all time lows with this latest verdict. It’s easy to see why people are upset. Nothing in this country serves the people honestly and justly from any sector be it political, educational, financial, medical and now the latest judicial. We are trillions of dollars in debt and our country is morally broken and can’t be fixed with spending.
    Michael, I can see why you started reciting the scriptures. It gets to the point where prayer for peace, love and understanding is all that is left.

      Wrong. The 60s and 70s brought us the radical leftists who are in power now and who are inciting racial tensions and who are thriving on racial animosity. The current regime in Washington was promoted by radical leftists in Chicago.

    I have news for you. If the verdict had been “guilty” but Zimmerman was not given the maximum sentence (at least 30 years) there still would have been protests and riots. Next month or next year it will be demanded that blacks have to be given preferential treatment in hiring, a “reparations” yearly stipend, and/or free college tuition. Then it will be demanded that every African-American gets a free house and a new car. As those of you with spoiled teens know, if there is no “tough love” it goes on and on. And it will.

    Michael I like what you are saying but despite how you feel about the case, every black parent in America is clutching their child right now and wondering what kind of future they will have in a society that doesn’t value their existence. I have a daughter and I am aware that the world out their is filled with evil people who will try to bring harm to her. And if that happens, what kind of recourse do I have? This trial is the nightmare of every parent of every color out there. I don’t care what people think of Trayvon, I don’t want to hear any people breaking down what happened that night. I dont want to hear what George Zimmerman supporters think. This is how I feel.

      Conversely, every white parent in America is clutching their child right now and wondering what kind of future they will have in a society that doesn’t value their existence when the country is ruled by black leftist elites like the president and attorney general who are inciting racial tensions. Colleges and universities in the U.S. have become leftist indoctrination camps that condemn whites as being evil oppressors. The leftists in the MSM always portray whites as being the oppressors. Many in the white community are fed up with it!

    Stop with the race baiting! In 2010, 447 whites were murder by blacks but only 218 blacks were murdered by whites. Blacks are about 13 percent of the U.S. population. Almost 93% of blacks that are murdered in the U.S. are murdered by other blacks. Blacks accounted for 49% of all homicide victims in the US — again, almost exclusively at the hands of other blacks.

        He was probably trying to get the gun away from GZ and if he did survive, there is little doubt that we never would have heard about the incident from the leftists in the MSM and the black attorney general would have made sure that he walked free. Guns are not the problem–it’s gangsta thugs who want to fight all the time who are the problem.

    I’m a Canadian so it may be surprising that I would care, but my Mennonite ancestors were pioneers in Lancaster Pennsylvania in 1739. Our branch moved to Canada in 1804, but I have been in 45 states, and have 1st cousins in 6, including Florida, so I feel that I have some skin in the game.

    Racial tensions often arise because of foolishness. Treyvon Martin’s foolishness in being in a tense neighborhood, dressed in a provocative way, and acting in a provocative manner. But Treyvon was a kid,and kids quite normally do foolish things. George Zimmerman’s foolishness in not staying in his car when he was told to. But Mr. Zimmerman was a homeowner in a neighborhood that had been repeatedly vandalized by young black men who commonly wore hoodies.

    Then there was President Obama’s foolishness in
    injecting himself into the case; Al Sharpton and his ilk being typical race-baiting Al Sharptons; the prosecutor’s foolishness in not stating clearly
    that there was no case that would stand up in court; and the lawyers accepting an all-white jury.

    This tragedy was preventable, but now everyone is so busy trying to make their case that they forget to consider where this will lead.

    Michael Snyder’s blog got it right. It’s long past
    time to forget about color and how people look; and to begin to work tirelessly on being “blessed peacemakers”. Martin and Zimmerman and Obama and Sharpton didn’t even try.

      I respectfully disagree with your opinion that GZ should have stayed in the car. 1. GZ was the neighborhood watch captain. He has a duty and the right to check out what the young stranger was doing. 2. According to the details from the trial, the dispatcher asked him where he was, that’s why he stepped out to check on the name of the road he was on. TM had disappeared form GZ’s sight already. 3. He was walking back to his truck when TM confronted him and TM threw the first punch and started assaulting GZ. So nothing GZ did was illegal nor immoral. So according to the facts presented at the trail and collaborated by the evidences.

      Now of course we don’t know what happened during the confrontation prior to TM attacking GZ. So that is between GZ and God. If GZ provoked the fight first, even though our earthly court can’t held him responsible, but God will not let it slide. So we can rest assure Justice will be done.

    Yes, Michael – what I see most folks missing is this concept:
    The foundation of the love Jesus always referred to was sacrificial love.
    Any kind of REAL love = sacrifice.
    Once that foundation is in place then a decision to forgive is the undeniable next step.
    This is a deep issue – about the true condition of each individual’s heart. Here’s our example:
    Christ Loved us and chose to sacrifice for our benefit while we were yet His enemies.

    Wow, did anyone read the article? I totally agree with the views expressed in the article. Unfortunately, looks like some of us are too ignorant to see that the divisions among us are cultivated. Crying about how victimized you are by the educational system because they teach history is a JOKE. The ruling class keep us divided along political, racial and class lines. Meanwhile the super rich and elites are laughing all the way to the bank. Michael, applaud your effort and this article is just another reason I will heartily recommend this site to friends. Looks like some of your readers are too attached to their hate to evolve.

    Not to mention Warrior class III, history also teaches that whites were abolitionists, union soldiers, Underground Railroad participants, civil rights workers, and on and on. It never amazes me that the white separatists,/supremacists always claim that schools teach hatred of white men. I guess it all depends on which people in history you identify with. If you identify with the klan I guess you would feel that way. If you chose any one of a myriad of other groups to identify with I doubt you’d feel that way. The problem is with you.

    Jesus came unto His own & His own ( the Jews) received Him not. Jesus did not preach to the Gentiles nor did His disciples. The instruction love thy neighbour as you love yourself was an instruction to the tribes of Israel, who lived in the land of Israel to love each other not the Gentiles who lived amongst them. When we come up into the New Testament Church the new Israel becomes the Church & love your neighbour refers to other members of the Church, not those who preach another Gospel or who preach any other way to God except through Jesus Christ.The Christian is to withdraw themselves from the unrighteousness. Any man who does not provide for his own especially those of his own household has denied the faith & is as the heathen. Here we see we are to provide for our own, physically, mentally & spiritually

    I don’t believe in god. Even if the devil made it so the sun can blow up, why doesn’t god stop it? Exactly.
