Obamacare = A Death Panel For The U.S. Economy

Obamacare LineDid you know that some Americans are being hit with health insurance rate increases of more than 500 percent?  Taking advantage of “the stupidity of the American voter”, the Democrats succeeded in ramming through one of the worst pieces of legislation that has ever come before Congress.  The full implementation of Obamacare has been repeatedly delayed, but now we are finally starting to see the true horror of this terrible law.  Thanks to Obamacare, millions of American families are losing health plans that they were very happy with, health insurance rates are skyrocketing, millions of workers are having their full-time hours cut back to part-time hours, rural hospitals all over the country are dying, and thousands of doctors are being driven out of the industry thus intensifying the greatest doctor shortage in U.S. history.  Obamacare is a slow-motion train wreck of epic proportions, and the full effect of this law is only beginning to be felt.  In the end, the economic impact of this law will likely be measured in the trillions of dollars.

One of the primary reasons why Democrats experienced so much pain during the recent elections was because millions of Americans are receiving some very disturbing letters from their health insurance providers.  At a time when U.S. incomes are stagnating, health insurance rates are rising to absolutely ridiculous levels.

As the New York Times recently reported, even the Obama administration is admitting that “substantial price increases” are on the way…

The Obama administration on Friday unveiled data showing that many Americans with health insurance bought under the Affordable Care Act could face substantial price increases next year — in some cases as much as 20 percent — unless they switch plans.

The data became available just hours before the health insurance marketplace was to open to buyers seeking insurance for 2015.

An analysis of the data by The New York Times suggests that although consumers will often be able to find new health plans with prices comparable to those they now pay, the situation varies greatly from state to state and even among counties in the same state.

Originally, Barack Obama promised that if we liked our current health plans that we could keep them.  Well, it turns out that was not true at all.  Instead, the vast majority of us will eventually have to move to new plans if we have not done so already.  This is particularly true for those that purchase health insurance individually.  The following is an excerpt from an NBC News investigation

Four sources deeply involved in the Affordable Care Act tell NBC News that 50 to 75 percent of the 14 million consumers who buy their insurance individually can expect to receive a “cancellation” letter or the equivalent over the next year because their existing policies don’t meet the standards mandated by the new health care law. One expert predicts that number could reach as high as 80 percent. And all say that many of those forced to buy pricier new policies will experience “sticker shock.”

This is something that actually happened to me.  I received a letter in the mail informing me that my new health insurance policy which meets the requirements of Obamacare will cost me nearly twice as much as my old one.

Needless to say, I was not too thrilled about that.

Other Americans are being hit even harder.  For instance, one family down in Texas got hammered with a 539 percent rate increase

Obamacare is named the “Affordable Care Act,” after all, and the President promised the rates would be “as low as a phone bill.” But I just received a confirmed letter from a friend in Texas showing a 539% rate increase on an existing policy that’s been in good standing for years.

As the letter reveals (see below), the cost for this couple’s policy under Humana is increasing from $212.10 per month to $1,356.60 per month. This is for a couple in good health whose combined income is less than $70K — a middle-class family, in other words.

These rate increases are coming at a time when the middle class in the U.S. is already steadily shrinking.  A lot of families that are already stretched to the breaking point are making the very painful decision to give up health insurance entirely.  At this point, there are millions of families that simply cannot afford it.

But Obama is not about to let those people off the hook.  In fact, huge tax penalties are on the way for those that do not participate in the new system…

Penalties for failing to secure a health-insurance plan will rise steeply next year, which could take a big bite out of some families’ pocketbooks.

The penalty is meant to incentivize people to get coverage,” said senior analyst Laura Adams of “This year, I think a lot of people are going to be in for a shock.

In 2014, Obamacare’s first year, individuals are facing a penalty of $95 per person, or 1 percent of their income, depending on which is higher. If an American failed to get coverage this year, that penalty will be taken out of their tax refund in early 2015, Adams noted.

While that might be painful to some uninsured Americans who are counting on their tax refunds in early 2015, the penalty for going uninsured next year is even harsher. The financial penalty for skipping out on health coverage will more than triple to $325 per person in 2015, or 2 percent of income, depending on whichever is higher.

Children will be fined at half the adult rate, or $162.50 for those under 18 years old.

No wonder so many people are so angry with the Democrats.

And as Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Jonathan Gruber has so infamously observed, Obamacare never would have become law if the American people had been told the truth about what it would do to them.

It has been documented that Gruber has visited the White House about a dozen times since 2009, and he has been one of the leading intellectual proponents of Obamacare.  A video in which he states that “the stupidity of the American voter” was “really critical” to the passage of Obamacare has gone viral over the past week.  I have posted a copy of this video below…

What he is essentially saying is that the Democrats purposely deceived the American people because it was the only way that Obamacare was going to become law.

And this is a man that has become very wealthy advising government on healthcare matters.  According to an article in the Washington Post, he has made millions of dollars from “consulting” in recent years…

Not all of the contracts could be found on public Web sites, but here is a sampling. In some cases, Gruber worked with other consultants, so the fees were shared. These figures also might not represent the final payout, and of course these are gross figures, before expenses. But it’s safe to say that about $400,000 appears to be the standard rate for gaining access to the Gruber Microsimulation Model.

Michigan: $481,050

Minnesota: $329,000

Vermont: $400,000

Wisconsin: $400,000

Gruber has also earned more than $2 million over the last seven years for an ongoing contract with HHS to assess choices made by the elderly in Medicare’s prescription-drug plan.

If you are Gruber, life is quite good.

But for most of the rest of America, the economic pain continues.

For example, one recent study found that almost half of all Floridians cannot even afford “to pay for basic necessities”…

Nearly half of Florida households do not earn enough to pay for basic necessities, according to a report released Tuesday by the United Way that seeks to cast a light on the large group of state residents who struggle financially but do not meet the official criteria for being in poverty.

While 15 percent of Florida households are below the poverty level, another 30 percent are financially insecure — a figure that also applies to Sarasota and Manatee counties — based on a new measurement developed by the United Way.

If all those people cannot even afford the basics, how are they going to pay for Obamacare?

This law is going to financially cripple millions of American families.  It truly is a death panel for the U.S. economy.  And because Barack Obama can veto anything that the Republicans in Congress do, we are stuck with it for at least another two years (and probably longer).

So what about you?

Have your health insurance premiums gone up yet?

Please feel free to add to the discussion by posting a comment below…

My sister lost her insurance, new is like twice as expensive, in a way I have to laugh because she voted for Obama, I argued with her for hours about the obvious, but to her having a black president was more important, now she hates him, I think more that me because she feels deceived. She also cant stand Obama siding with illegals.

I have a buddy from High School that is a doctor…he can talk for hours about how bad Obamacare is and how the government is corrupt, and this is a dude who was a Democrat most of his life as well.

He told me that this was the first election he voted Republican, knowing they are corrupt as well, anything to help counteract what the Democrats are doing, which is basically finishing off the looting Clinton and Bush started.

He also can’t stand illegals, which is says are consuming all the benefits we Americans paid for.

Even blacks guys I work with that supported Obama are now turning on him, two blacks at work last week were saying that he will deserve to be impeached over ex. orders on illegal immigration.

Unfortunately, we have criminals running our bloated government.

    • Sonofgary2

Tell your sister he’s Multi-racial; not black.

      • quercus454

You mean the anthropological term mulatto.

        • Ace

          Fauxahontas knows about these things.

    • Joe Kleinkamp

I believe millions of people are getting the same jolting foghorn in the ear wake up call as your sister and doctor bud. They all need to vote; even for what little good it might do.

    • TheSkeptic

Do you really want to know the sad reality? All of what he (Obama) is doing now was accurately predicted prior to the election in 2008. If we could go back in time to November of 2008, your sister, and everybody else who voted for Obama would still vote for him. Stupidity knows no limits.

  • Guest

There are several exemptions from the penalty for not having health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. One of them is ” You’re a member of a recognized religious sect with religious objections to insurance, including Social Security and Medicare.”

I guess it’s time for me to join an Amish community. 🙂

    • peace angel

AND if you claim that and show up at the hospital with an emergency they either can NOT TREAT YOU, because of your religion OR make you pay the fines and back premiums BEFORE you get admitted.

  • Gary

Everyone should understand that even understand the next president, should he be Republican, this crime will continue. It simply doesn’t matter who is elected.

I have decided ahead of time that when the time comes that we are compeled to buy at such an astromomical rate that I will go to prison first.

Everyone can complain all they want, but if you aren’t willing to put your own freedom at risk, what is it worth?

    • alan

Yep, your vote counts, banker selected candidate #1 or banker selected candidate #2.

    • Mudpie

One wonders whether the day is coming.

    • peace angel

ALL the NEW RINO leadership have already said they WON’T repeal Obamacare.

      • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

That’s because some people have benefitted from Obamacare. Folks with pre-existing conditions, people who previously could not afford insurance but now can afford it ( most of the newly insured in my state are eligible for subsidies or have enrolled in Medicaid). They probably don’t want a backlash from those voters in the coming years. What I don’t understand is why Congress didn’t just deal with the uninsured American populace, instead of messing with everyone’s healthcare with that mammoth-size unwieldy law.

        • peace angel

I can tell you why they did not do that. A fifth grader could figure out that there were a whole lot of things either party could have done decades ago to give access to all and none of them did so.

IN 90 I lived and worked in Washington State for the National Association for the Self Employed a huge conglomerate of the self employed who could get better insurance rates by Pooling.

Hillarycare was in the process of becoming law and the nation fought it tooth and nail and won.

BUT the Clintons cannot take no for an answer and they began bribing all the states to find ONE that would make it law.

AFTER 17 states refused KNOWING it was an enormous tax and that the GOV. would OWN health care and then my state got duped into it.

I worked in politics for the NASE and headed up the campaign to overturn it along with Senator Linda Smith, who went on to be a state hero and who won a seat in the House that year as a “write in” on the ballot when we had the Contract with America.

We did get it overturned BUT in the process of researching where this communist bill was drafted we learned that Hillary’s COMMUNIST law firm her first out of law school drafted it straight from MARXIST doctrine.

IT was planned all along to crash the health care system and to make millions more Americans broke.

THERE is no one in Congress who is about anything but crashing the economy and the US dollar and creating a NWO using the US as the model for the nation and in my forty years of direct involvement with BOTH parties I have seen nothing but that.

THEY did not just regulate the business because they believed they could take over the whole thing in single payer once the fines and taxes and premiums take down millions more people as I said.

NO ONE in CONGRESS has your best interest in mind and all of them are culpable in the destruction of the nation and the world.

THE US is broke and those subsidies are being paid for with the BILLION dollars Obama prints monthly and it will not last.

AT this moment Obama is trying to steal gold from the Filipinos–true story.

Karen Hudes–senior counsel for the WORLD BANK says they are broke and yesterday the FDIC no longer covers peoples’ money in banks in the US. THIS law was passed by all of them BECAUSE three major banks in the US are on the verge of collapse and they know if they all go down at the same time the FDIC could not come close to covering their clients so they just changed the law.

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

We are in a lot of trouble.

          • Ace

            Wow. Great comment. Thanks.

        • NewbieJames

The reason that Congress didn’t deal with it is because it is not economically possible. Obamacare is a hidden tax. Loot young healthy kids to pay for the parasites. 20 million healthy young kids paying $200 per month works out to $4 Billion per month in loot. Then add the huge rate increases for everyone else. Even this won’t be enough. Also, the problem is not health plan costs. The problem is high HEALTHCARE costs, which is caused by government policies and malpractice LOTTO.

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

I would rather they had just established a national health insurance program for people who have pre-existing conditions and paid for it by adding another modest payroll tax.

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

Dr. Andrew Weil (admittedly a somewhat controversial figure ) has argued that the very nature of insurance tends to drive up the costs of medical care, and that there is an over-reliance on high-tech solutions and diagnostic tools . Maybe Congress should have gone to the root of the problem instead of assuming that universal health insurance is the best way to control costs.

          • Ace

A top down government solution is the solution of choice of ultra-left progressives. And the answer to the question, What problem are we trying to solve? is finessed into an answer that just happens to fit the ultra left’s game plan.

It’s the same with immigration. We need a “comprehensive” “solution” to a non problem. Amnesty (namely, gross surrender of sovereignty and citizenship made worthless) becomes the vital missing ingredient that must be imposed by a wave of a wand.

Never ever are simple border control and gradual but relentless self-deportation on the table. No. We are “helpless” to close the border, what with thousands and thousands of our troops guarding someone else’s borders and the only way to deport anyone is Evian Gonzalez fashion.

It’s all a sham. The real problems go unaddressed and progressive pipe dreams rise to the top of the “to do” list.

          • Jodie Lynn Gaeta

And the sheer size of the Obamacare law and that immigration bill made it almost impossible for lawmakers, let alone the public, to gauge their impact.

          • GCG

what a crock of BS. Who or what is the “ULTRA LEFT” boogieman? That straw-man argument sounded soooo smart but the fact is greed and corruption is the basis of this and almost all legislation coming out of subjugated governments who don’t know their right from left much less ultra anything. That is just the sterile talk used to skirt the fact that some people refuse to call a crook a crook and traitors by their first names. Clinton, Obama, Bush…all of them criminal treasonous murderers. They don’t give two sh*ts about no healthcare so don’t try to make it some left vs right BS. ITS GRAFT, THEFT AND PURE CORRUPTION.

          • Ace

That satisfies today’s requirement for low-class incoherence.

  • Handog

The American voter re-elected Obama. You could call that stupidity.

    • Tim

Remember that woman who thought she wouldn’t have to pay her mortgage when Obama was elected the first time? Sadly, I think that mentality is representative of a significant number of Americans.

      • TheSkeptic

You mean the stereotypical Obama voter?

  • alan

I don’t have insurance now because its too expensive. However Obolacare is just one of many things that is bleeding this country to death. 401ks are next, soon everyone will have a 401k but it will be empty. Its a long slide to the bottom.
Buy your silver while its on sale and solar panels too.

    • peace angel

THEY have been robbing 401K’s for a long time now.

THEY perpetually roll that money from one buy to another and make tons of money in fees from every single person who owns one on a daily basis.

Because three of our top banks are broke, today a new law went into effect that basically says the FDIC is NO LONGER insuring your money. OOOOOPS

      IT”S the LAW.

    • Woogie

I don’t have it either, but my state exchanges say I have a hardship exemption from the fine if my obamacare premiums are more than 8% of my income. How many people will be under this hardship exemption when premiums are now reaching disastrous proportions? Plenty!

Bad thing is then obamacare will lose funding, and the quality of care will suffer even more. The math shows obamacare can’t be self sustaining financially.

  • T.

So, if you are a big wig M.I.T. economist Snot and you own a consulting company and have contacts within state and federal governments, this qualifies you to: Devise national health contracts that Defraud the American people out their Constitutional rights and Steal their wealth – And this is all permissible, because the American people are stupid – And BTW, I will be paid from the stupid American people’s purse to the tune of millions of dollars. What? No. I didn’t do anything wrong. The American people are STUPID. They are just getting what they deserve and I’m getting paid. Signed: Jonathan Gruber, alias in yo face Joni boy

    • peace angel

HE IS WINNING and he is right. NO ONE is too outraged by his comment and MOST will never hear it.

LOTS of INDIVIDUALS have made a fortune on this bill.

PEOPLE scream loudly on their computers at home and DO NOTHING toward FIXING the problem.

  • Bill

Although facing a 20%+ increase in premium the first of the year I’m much more concerned about the continued overall decline of the country. Everything the imposter is involved in seems to add to the decline. Among the most worrisome situations is the tremendous weakening of our nuclear forces at a time we need strength. I have discovered impeachment won’t happen as long as the Biden insurance policy stays in place, so the imposter will stay and the doom continues.

    • Bill

In case you don’t understand the “Biden insurance policy”, it has to do with the fact that Obama knows he won’t be impeached for fear of Biden taking his place. Obama picked Biden because he knew his plan for America’s destruction would lead to impeachment so he “bought” an insurance policy.

  • K

The day any Government can require its’ citizens, to purchase from a private company, any product. The Republic is lost. This was all a scam from day one. Just a way to make the rich insurance companies even richer.

    • Mudpie

      Very, very well said.

      • RA

        I’ll second that.

    • Black

      you mean like car insurance?

      • Malcolm Reynolds

Those aren’t really analogous now are they.

        • Black

they aren’t, huh? who pays when some idiot with no car insurance crashes in to my car, house, kid?

          • Malcolm Reynolds

Perhaps it’s best if you try to explain how they are.

Now explain when you’re liable to pay someone when you get all sniffly and give someone else the flu. Oh wait…

          • Randy Townsend

You do – it’s called “Uninsured Motorist” and it’s OPTIONAL…. Still don’t get it, do you?

          • CharlesH

In my state – Delaware – the law is that if you own a car, you must carry No Fault insurance and that’s for those that don’t have insurance. ONLY law abiding citizens today in this country are screwed left and right!

          • Ace

So Mr. Black’s $20 premium for UIM coverage covers the cost of that $2M jury award? Or do other Mr. Blacks get to contribute to pay the damages caused by the uninsured motorist?

          • Randy Townsend

Mr. Black doesn’t live in a vacuum – and it is voluntary whether you like it or not (assuming every accident results in a $2M jury award…. except if that were true, insurance companies wouldn’t stay in business… Not too much reality, right?)

          • Ace

That’s an incredible insight. Are you telling me that insurance companies take note of the actual risks they propose to insure against and then calculate premiums that are high enough to cover those risks and make a profit as well?

            Who knew?

          • Randy Townsend

Still talking about auto insurance? Or attempting to be clever and segue into Obamacare? You said the “$20 premium covers the $20 million award”…. An our Fearless Leader promised Obamacare would save EVERY FAMILY $2,500…. Pick one side.

          • Ace

I was clever. I don’t understand this idea that I was “attempting” to be clever.

          • Rita

This Obamacare is a trap and anyone who falls for it will eventually find what I’m saying to be true. I put up a post in regards to this treaty that will take place and someone doesn’t want you people knowing the truth about it, because they took my post off. The Bible prophesys there will be a treaty made with the nation of Israel for 7 years and in the midst of the 7 years it will be broken, by the Anti- Christ leader who will lead a one world government with a one world currency. This world economic crisis is a deliberate thing to bring about a system to bar code all human beings with a micro chip, and that will be this new currency that they want to bring out. Without it the Bible says that no one will be able to buy or sell, that’s how cunning the world’s leaders are, and the only people that know exactly whats going on are the born again Christians.

          • Woodland Echo

There is no 7 year peace treaty, that is a lie to lull believers into believing that we will get a warning of when it will begin.

It has already began we are merely experiencing the birth pains right now. All Churches are Apostate now just as John foretold in Revelation.

All time prophecies have ended, the burden of Damascus is one of the only things left that need to happen before the Atrocities hit full swing.

Also there is no Pre Trib Rapture, the untold millions to be beheaded spoken of in Revelation still have not happened, the Catholics used burning and many other tortures to murder Christians, not beheading.

          • Rita

Woodland echo, you are very mistaken. It is written in the Word of God, read your Bible properly. The seven year peace treaty will happen after the church is raptured, and not all churches are Apostate, once again you misinterpret the Scripture, if you look you will see 2 of the churches mentioned in the book of Revelation were not given stern warnings. Thirdly those that will be beheaded are those that will refuse to take the mark of the beast as the Scripture says and will die martyrs for Christ.

          • Woodland Echo

The rapture happens when Jesus arrives in the Sky, no where in the Bible does it support a pre trib rapture. Daniel chapter 9 has been quite perverted by the Vatican. Satan never made a covenant with man nor will he ever. We are in the Laodicean Church age, all are Apostate home Church is the only way to escape from the perversion of these so called Churches.

Adolf Hitler was small time when it comes to Genocide, Our Fed Gov under Vatican control has murdered many more millions. Virtually all Genocide has been of Christians.

You have bought the Vatican deception Hook line and sinker.

          • Rita

I haven’t bought anything. God calls the Roman Catholic church the whore of Babylon and she is, and the pope is a false prophet, because he does not teach the Word of God, he’d rather support homosexuality. There are hundreds of dead newborns under the vatican, and the mafia has laundered millions of dollars through it’s doors, so I am aware my friend of what has gone on and still goes on. The Roman catholic church killed millions also yes, many of the early church were thrown to the lions or used as human candles I realise this. The nation of Israel and the redeemed Gentiles are the apple of the LORD’S eye and anyone who touches them will have to answer big time.

          • Woodland Echo

Rita please study History along with the Bible, Revelation was not about Churches of Johns time it was talking about Church ages, we are in the Laodicean Church Age. Look around you, can you name one Church that teaches according to the Bible.

Virtually all Pastors teach that the KJKV Bible is full of Lies, just ask one if he believes in Satan’s Lie that our World moves. The KJV is very specific in stating that our World is motionless.

            1 CH 16;30
            Psalms 93;1
            Psalms 96;10

For over 5 years I have offered a ten thousand dollar reward for one FACT that our World moves, zero takers. Yet Preachers will spout that they believe in Science Lies. Find one who believes the KJV Bible is the word of God then talk to me.

          • Rita

The King James Version is taken from the original Greek and Hebrew, and YES it is the Word of God. It is written, Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:33. It is written, That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us. Hebrews 6:18.
It is written, God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19. God is His Word and His Word is Him, it comes down to this, your choice to either believe or not to believe. As far as the rapture, can you please give me Scriptures that tell me that the One true church would be taken during or after the tribulation, for in the book of Revelation it says this to the church of Philedelphia, (brotherly love). Because thou has kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
I say to you what temptation? That temptation will be the mark of the beast, the 666 system, and the LORD says that He will keep me from it, He protected Noah from the flood, He protected the children of Israel when they were captive in Egypt and through Moses brought judgement on the Egyptians, but the Israelites were protected from all the plagues that God sent. I know God is faithful, He’s the same God yesterday, today and forever, it also says in Psalm 121:7-8, The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Therefore the LORD will protect me from the Great tribulation.

          • Woodland Echo

All of his Disciples except John were tortured to death, we will face the Tribulation. To believe otherwise is foolhardy and not in line at all with what the Bible says.

          • Rita

Well Woodland, lets just agree to disagree, the Lord does not want us arguing about Scripture. We can agree on this, that the rapture is really close and will take place. Yes apart from John all the disciples were killed except John. I just want to go home and be with JESUS that’s what I’m waiting for.

          • Woodland Echo

Randy, you will get more of an intelligent response debating a Rock than with these kind.

          • Woodland Echo

Black is unable to get it of course, he is so imbued with fear, there are terrorist boogeyman hiding around every street corner, he knows this cause the Government told him so.

          • Albert8184

            But… that’s not the argument.

These recent statements from Gruber really backed ACA supporters into a corner. You know, I want everyone to have access to health care if they need it, but I don’t want to be lied to about what it will cost and who will pick up the tab. The economy is very close to a zero sum game right now. Someone’s right must be compensated equally by someone else taking responsibility. And that responsibility costs!

    • MadAsHellYankee

You gotta admit though.. the statements by Gruber weren’t exactly a lie. Unfortunately, a lot of Americans are truly that stupid. Not the readers of this blog… some of the most awake people out there. But all you have to do is listen to some fruit loop swear up and down that Ocare is good for the “middle class” because NBC or Huff Po told them..

  • Orange Jean

One of the very worst things about Obama”care” is the high deductibles…. which for most people won’t show up and seem real to them … until they have some terrible illness or injury in their family.

How do I know this? Well, working for the Feds, we have been treated like guinea pigs for Obamacare. The health insurance available to me is the worse I’ve ever had at any job; last year I paid out about $6,000 in deductibles or medical expenses I had that are not covered.

If I ever had to go to the hospital for anything other than an emergency my deductible would be $6,000 (each year). This is in addition to whatever other deductibles I’ve had to pay in, co-pays, and things that aren’t covered. If people were having a hard time paying basic health insurance, do you think they are going to be able to pay out that kind of deductible?

    • Hot Rain

One other little known hidden ‘gem’ is the new Medicaid rules concerning seniors over 55. Any medical bills incurred will have to be repaid. That’s right, even after death, your family must pay it back.
Also, in 2015 and each year after, ‘no insurance’ penalties will be so high that average Americans will be forced to forfeit their tax returns.
And, I predict 2015 will usher in economic hell for most of us.

      • Orange Jean

Gads, I didn’t catch that one!

If I change my name to something Latino sounding, think they’ll skip that one?

  • VegasBob

Since I am in my early 60s and have high blood pressure, mild diabetes and mild emphysema, I was not insurable prior to Obamacare. So, I went ahead and bought an Obamacare policy a year ago. The bronze plan I got costs me just under $6,000 a year, and basically pays nothing unless I reach the annual deductible of around $6,350.

Even though the plan is Obamacare-compliant and is available directly from the insurer (compared to the nightmare of having to use the deeply flawed ‘insurance exchange’), it is NOT any kind of bargain. However, I suppose that it is better than the prospect of going without insurance and being bankrupted in the event of a major medical situation.

I would have much preferred to buy a catastrophic coverage policy which would kick in only in a major medical situation, but such coverage is basically unavailable to those over 30 under the Obamacare law.

Fortunately, I have not had to file a claim and it appears that my 2015 premium is only going up $7 a month.

I was able to get a draft of the 1040 tax form for 2014 from the IRS. It appears that reporting one’s insurance coverage on the 2014 tax forms will be based on the ‘honor system’ – I can simply check the box for ‘full year coverage’ without having to enter any specific information about my coverage.

Still, I hope that Congress will repeal most of the monstrosity called ‘Obamacare’ and replace it with something simpler.

If it were permitted, millions of people could just as easily buy into Medicare if they are over 55 and under 65, or obtain catastrophic coverage if they are in a high-risk situation like I am, rather than deal with all of the mindless bureaucracy that is Obamacare.

    • Orange Jean

You don’t think the IRS knows that you’re up to? Ha ha… what do you think all that NSA spying stuff is all about? And electronic medical records? If you are signed up with Obamacare, supposedly you have given them permission to spy on your bank account too!

  • Priszilla

Well, the public health insurance in Germany is about 14% of gross income, and covers the whole family.
Private insurance is cheaper for singles. But every person needs to be insured separately, and the premium rises with age.
While a senior with a paid off house could live comfortably from EUR 300 per month, he’d have to fork out EUR 500 for a private health insurance, driving the need for a high pension up.
And you can’t switch. Once you are in private insurance territory (to save costs while young) you are condemned for it for life.

  • The health-insurance game isn’t just going on in America either, although it takes different forms. We in The Netherlands (a country on the North Sea) had perfectly good health-care insurance, with a public system for people with little money (called “ziekenfonds” or “sick fund”). It worked great, nobody ever even saw a bill who was on it; no paper work. Now they privatized it, which is in our case the way how they brought this business under the control of the banks. They destroyed “ziekenfonds” and made all kinds of rules to force people into the existing private health insurance companies.

Personal experience: out of disgust I chose the heaviest insurance, which was what I already had. So I didn’t lower my coverage, but kept it the same. What has now happened over the last years or decade is that they have screwed up the cost of this insurance to be above 160,- euro a month (called level 3 coverage). This I could not afford anymore, and therefore I have had to go to level 1 coverage of about 120,- euro a month. That is about the cost I payed for the original health care insurance. Hence what they did is they are offering much fewer coverage now, for the same price.

What is the real-world result: I have chronic pain, and can not get some chinese traditional treatment for it covered by my health care insurance. It is covered under level 3, which is the original coverage everyone had. It is no longer covered under level 1, and I can’t afford it out of my own pocket. I never go to doctors and don’t trust them at all, especially medical specialists are dangerous. For years and years you pay this money, and then when you need it, they don’t cover it because they have eviscerated it. It sounds to me that Americans are now having the same issues, but under a different set of laws. Almost like it’s the same gangsters at work everywhere, running their scams a little differently depending on the host country.

    • Priszilla

Makes you wonder – are the insurance companies owned by banks or are the banks owned by insurance companies.
      Is there really any difference?

      • There is no difference between that, but the bigger issue is that the banks, insurance companies and big corporations own the media, and the media owns the mind of the public and their vote, and thus the super rich own the country. Those they don’t own, like Michael Hastings, Breitbart and a little longer ago JFK …. they have a solution for that too.

        • Priszilla

Need to apply risk management techniques: reduce risk as far as possible, and insure only what you can’t reduce.
Don’t leave the candles burning in the hope the insurance will cover the fire damage. Rather check the candles and don’t have to pay insurance.
And with health it’s just the same. Cook your own food from fresh ingredients and you won’t have the time for binge drinking.

          • Although those are good points, this is what we already should be doing, and on top of that we should have a reasonable insurance. We should not only look at our own situation and how we can deal with these attacks, we should organize to defeat their corruption. Organizing is far from easy. It takes time and therefore it should be started, existing organizations that show promise should be strengthened with more members. The organizations have to be internally democratic. Then you can later bring more competent people to the ruling councils. If the organization is not democratic, the top people will probably be bribed or killed. As corruption rots further, the issues will become clearer, organizing will become easier. At the same time the ruling class will try to make organizing more difficult, by which they become more obviously the problem.

It could then lead to confrontations as the situation worsens. Positions entrench, the time of debate is past, nobody changes their opinions anymore. Resistance groups swell in numbers, and the ruling media and politicians unmask themselves as genocidal fascists. The question is then I suppose: how strong is the election system. Can the issue be channeled through the ballot boxes ? USA seems to have lost its election system (non paper trail voting machines). This seems to be a recipe for a civil war, because if we can’t count the size of the camps anymore and settle the issue based on the count, then there the situation could drop back to a more basic form of democracy: war. Maybe the situation can be saved on the brink by re-introducing the paper ballot. Notice how in Ukraine this does not matter: the vote is destroyed by direct violence.

I think that this entire situation is occuring, all the wars, all the corruption, because of one enemy of the people: alcohol. It makes people stupid, and that’s the only explanation for the world we live in: stupid.

THE SOON TO BE RINO leadership have already said they have no intention of overturning this law.

IT is the people’s fault we still have it and the media floods the airwaves with LIES about how great it is and I would BET that 90% of the country have no clue mandatory health insurance is the law OR that they will pay out fines for not having it.

And those who don’t work and won’t be working like the Ferguson crowd will STILL go to the ER for their domestic violence attacks on each other and STILL go to the ER for nightly gun shot and stabbing wounds from coast to coast and their welfare will NOT be taxed.

    • Guest

The republicans will try to de-fund a part of it which will make it all void. I think it is the mandates they are going after that is hurting people. They want to get demon-crats on the same page and over ride Bummers veto. IT is not that they won’t do anything, it still is the Bummer and his bums that are still in the way of saving our HC.

If the Bummer gives amnesty, they will not fund this tyrants exec orders. They don’t even have to vote, just pull a dirty harry and let it die in committee in both houses.

  • Maryanne Myers

I refuse to pay. Just pay the fine instead.

What, pray tell, is Amnesty going to do to improve the lot and lives of the average American Citizen? I see many advantages for the Elites but nothing for the Average American whose cost of living will rise dramatically to cover the costs of the New Arrivals. The Average American will be in heated competition with the New Arrivals for everything from education to health care. Another aspect of this (hidden deliberately) is that Amnesty will open the Flood Gates of STEM workers from India and China. American students who have labored for years and incurred enormous debts to acquire an engineering or computer science degree will see the value of their degrees seriously degraded. Not content with moving our jobs overseas, the Elites will now flood the Labor Markets with cheap labor. The Dems reap the votes. The Republicans the profits. The Average American, the Forgotten Man, is marginalized in his own land. This is the most cynical act I have ever seen against the American Worker.

    • quercus454

There is no advantage to any average American to add millions of people to this country. It is only advantagious to the new comers and the people who profit from them. Lower wages, more competition for jobs, higher unemployment, more expensive resources like energy, housing and food. Infrastructure costs, social services and judicial costs will rise too.

Thanks Gruber you filthy, condescending, lying (insert profane epithet of choice.)

I really cannot understand how the US government can afford a military spending that is bigger that the next 10 countries combined, but cannot have a simple public healthcare system. I don’t mean this strange thing that is Obamacare, but a comprehensive public healthcare system (and education too), that well managed is far cheaper that the one you have actually, as you can see in even the poor european countries. There’s nothing “simple” about a “public” anything. Governments have created death and monumental waste throughout history. Please withdraw your reflexive support for politicians and their self-serving, brainless “solutions.” Obamacare was the jewel offered up by all the super smart wise owls in fedgov and it isn’t close to being workable. Can’t you learn from that?

      • jox

I’m afraid that you don’t learn. There are a lot of countries in Europe with public education and public healthcare. It works quite well and far cheaper than american healthcare. I’m not talking about some idealistic plans, but about realities that exist actually. Many countries have learned from americans, can’t you learn nothing from anybody?

Obamacare has done nothing to change the greedy piggery of doctors and hospitals. It is a darn shame that they have all these different prices for different people and different insurance companies.

People think the US has the best health care in the world, but that is a lie and just plain stupidity.

We have the most expensive and health care in the world. Why not brag about being overcharged?

I try to avoid doctors as much as possible, and will only go in a dire emergency. It sickens me every time I go and ask prices in advance and know I am being overcharged what is customary and acceptable.

We the American people worshop doctors as if they are mini gods who deserve to drive BMW’s and live in houses that are 9 times the income of the average American. Doctors make a lot mistakes and are in the top 3 categories of reasons of death.

What good is medical advances and breakthroughs if only the rich and those with good insurance can afford the treatment and care. Am I less a person because I don’t make six figurines or have a great health insurance plan?

Many people are fed up with this “sick care system” and have gone to nontraditional/alternative methods like Chinese medicine, accupuncture and ayurvedic with very good results.
Since traditional insurance will not cover these forms of treatment, people have to pay out of pocket for something that truly helps them plus be mandated to partake of “sick care system” which does nothing but perpetuate disease and ill health.
The insurance companies are going to have to embrace alternative treatment methods as this is what more and more people want. They are sick and tired of having to buy prescriptions they never use or want or not being able to go to the physician of their choice.

  • DJohn1

The entire legal system is to blame for what is happening to American Health Insurance today.
Any lawyer worth his pay would have attacked the Supreme Court ruling in the Congress.
Any law that is publicly lied about should be unconstitutional or repealed. To lie publicly before Congress is called FRAUD.
No one wants to bell the cat.
The leader by default of the Democratic Party is the President of the United States of America. Period. End of story. If you are in this President’s camp you are laying yourself open to getting unelected.
If you lie enough people will believe you. Not a direct quote from Hitler.
This particular cat will destroy the Democratic Party. That means the remaining members up for election in 2 years will also be sent packing.
This particular law will cause the greatest world wide depression in history. The blame goes to all those not so nice people in our Congress unwilling to bell this particular cat and lose it before it gets out of control. Which it now has come around to being out of Control for millions of Americans.
Let us condense what I just said down.
Repeal the law or face getting unelected at the next election. I don’t really care what party you are from. Repeal the law in January.
Does the law effect illegal immigration? Surely does.
Illegal immigrants do not have a draft card. That is a federal crime. The law reads that all immigrants of the appropriate age are eligible for the draft. Generally they are classified as C-1.
I am tired of politicians enforcing only the laws that are convenient to them. To me that is an impeachable offense.
That the Supreme Court with the most knowledgeable lawyers in the country decided not to return the law to the Congress because it was lied publicly about is a mystery to me. Perhaps everyone was so stunned by the decision that they didn’t think of it at the time. It is called Fraud. It is called misrepresentation.
I think we need to recall some Supreme Court Judges.
IF the congress grows a little guts to actually do something then IF the President is impeached in both houses of Congress then Joe BIdden needs to resign. He is in fact an accessory to much of what has gone on and is in no condition to take the Presidency even temporarily.
That makes the Republican Speaker of the House your next President. Not sure that is an improvement until I see him in action in that job.

  • Black

The recovery since 2008 is REAL. Look at the stock markets!

“… unless they switch plans.” To a plan that is much less inclusive than what they already have. Pelosi told us repeatedly “Its the law!” Now that even more of the myriad of lies told to get it passed are exposed (and R’s are confirmed in their warnings about this legislation), it doesn’t change the fact that “It’s the law!” Tough luck, America – you put the Dims in charge and now you live with it. Add to that the impending amnesty and watch the wages of Joe Blucollar drop even more… And Obama will somehow blame the R’s….

There is a very simple solution to high medical costs. Have anti-monopoly laws apply to ALL areas of medicine. Karl Denninger has shown this would reduce costs by over 50%

I am disillusioned about most everything these days. My 15 year old daughter even gets it….she told me again this evening that the reason “they” are succeeding is that “good men do nothing”…..I realize while this is true, I don’t KNOW what to do. I feel in my heart this is a spiritual battle of epic proportions and that we are treading in areas not seen before. I don’t know how to stop a speeding freight train… family just finished filling out our health care renewal through my husband’s work and I was afraid the whole time…..all I kept thinking was that ONE thing they see as a change will affect our family for the worse. We have 6 kids under 20 and no matter what, this is gonna hurt. The middle class is taking the hardest hit and I don’t see a way out. I realize we are still temporarily lucky that our rates are the same……for now.
We rob Peter to pay Paul every month and the (our) deficit gets bigger and bigger. My husband has to stay healthy to keep his job, so he has given up things he loves, like football with his buddies and basketball…..if he even had TIME while working 2 jobs to barely keep the finances together.
I am trying to keep the faith, but I keep having panic attacks when the bills all come due.
I need to build my faith I think…..I STILL can’t believe that so many couldn’t see the “forest for the trees” with these last 2 presidential elections. SHAME ON THEM!

I found an other Obama low IQ voter. WOW – new meaning to slow learner – who does not trust his lying eyes and ears.

    • peace angel

It really blows my mind that people grab a comment about one party or the other and jump to such conclusions when THE ORIGINAL comment PROVES your comment is totally OFF BASE.

DID you not read past the first paragraph??

DID you not get to the guts of the comment in which I say I KNOW there is ONLY one party in DC??

HAVE you NOT read my other comments in which I state that I wrote the LIES/SPEECHES for both DC parties for two decades????

Do you not get that I KNOW we do not ELECT our POTUS and therefore it is LUDICROUS to vote for him.

I have said a million times I have known first hand for four decades that the Bilderberg group SELECTS our POTUS.

DID you miss the part where I say I have been working in and around politics my whole life??

AGAIN, I tell you—-there is ONLY one party in DC and anyone who today is even a little bit INFORMED KNOWS this.

I have a Menses IQ and a photographic memory and a whole lot of common sense as I was raised on a cattle ranch.

SO take you pathetic comments to someone who fits your accusations, slow learner.

Oh, and here is an inside tip. Obama does not have to LIE—he has been MKULTRA’D and BELIEVES the crap they write on the teleprompters.

HE has been so brainwashed and mind controlled he has no idea what he is saying.

Insiders say he is going off the rails behind closed doors and they may have to ELIMINATE him. HIS entire life including he is gay and the CIA killed three former lovers to get him this job and the fact that he is still a coke head and the fact that now everyone KNOWS Michelle is a man and that everyone KNOWS his kids are fake and adopted for the purpose of him being POTUS and the fact that at this moment one of the mothers is going to trial who has accused OBAMA of having her gay son, his former lover murdered is GOING To trail is all making him CRAZY.

HE has nothing to do with running the nation and never has. Valerie Jarrett is his 25 year handler and she does it all.

SAYING to me that I would vote for such a despicable monster and then telling me I have a low IQ and then telling me the biggest truth seeker and truth seer you have ever known is NOTHING short of madness and you need to read more than a first paragraph or seriously look into your pathetic comprehension abilities, slow learner.

WOW—how about reading my post again.

I am not a Democrat and since I was old enough to vote and went off to DC to write speeches for them, I find them very sick people BUT sadly the RINOS are more powerful and have been more instrumental in legislating the NWO and that is what I JUST SAID.

            I am deeply offended.

          • peace angel

            ARE you KIDDING?

I truly have a really good reason for it.

WHEN I was really young we had a barn cat that came in at night. HE would be sitting in my mom’s lap across the room and would come after me when I left the room.

HE would sit under my bed EVERY morning swatting at my ankles and scratching me. I never knew IF she was there or not.

SHE spent my childhood terrorizing me. SOMETIMES she would just come after me when I was playing out in the yard or pasture.

THEN once I could drive, I had a Ford bronco and in the spring daddy would take off the roof and the cat began to bring me presents. THAT is what people tell you anyway and first it was a dead mouse under my brake pedal and then just when I had let my guard down she would bring a bird and then a rabbit and a snake or any other dead animal likely killed by her for the next five years.

SHE actually had nine lives. SOMEONE would run over her or a horse would kick her or she would eat something poisonous and each time I prayed she would just move on.

I have been around kittens though who were adorable. Does that help my case?

Mine is up 20%, and dialing down also means giving up a lot. So yes, this is a true 205 increase year over year to me. If this happens again, Dems are hard pressed to get my vote in 2016 because of false advertisting. We need something but not if it is prohibitely expensive The GOP mantra to repeal does not wash either, there were solid reasons why Obamacare went in the first place, improve it or step aside.

  • Km

It’s named the Affordable Care Act, and ‘O’ was not the architect or creator of this horrible (tax), he’s just really pushing it hard as a part of the globalist agenda!

  • sharonsj

Rates are going up because of the greed of the insurance companies. Now that they have to take care of people who really are sick, the CEOs can’t make their multi-million dollar salaries without squeezing more money from workers.

And to K below, my state government requires me to purchase car insurance from a private company. I bet your state does too.

When did the Senate become the only lawmakers, the bill must be drawn up by the House and passed in the House, then delivered to the Senate to be passed or fail. It failed in the Senate, so why didn’t it go back to the House. It didn’t. It got rewritten and drawn up in the Senate, and passed the Senate, which was not the bill sent to the Senate by the House. That bill was then ratified and signed into law by the president. Why wasn’t the constitution followed. Why did the Supreme Court Uphold a law that was written by the Senate and not the House. When these A _ _ Holes can live by the law of the land instead of their own laws that they want to follow. We might see America come back. But as I see it. we let them sign America’s downfall.

‘The Democrats purposely deceived the American people because it was the only way that Obamacare was going to become law.’

And the Republicans purposely deceived the American people because it was the only way that the illegal Iraq invasion was going to happen. (And that’s cost us over $4 trillion and counting, and we’re on our way back.)

So we’re all even then, right?

    • Ace

Well, then. Problem solved. You should be a consultant.

I watched primary voters swarm over Bush ’41 back when. Other candidates seemed better to me, esp. as Bush’s accomplishments seemed to amount mostly, inter alia, to warming a seat in the embassy in Beijing and creating political debts to himself while head of the RNC. (Kudos for his wartime service, of course.) No one held a gun to the heads of those primary voters,
it’s true, but his selection just didn’t seem to make sense to me.

It’s the same way in Europe these days. Voters have a chance to support nationalist, patriotic parties merely by raising their hands and pulling a lever at zero risk to themselves but they continually vote for parties that assiduously work to ramp up Muslim and other third-world immigration. I don’t read that the voting machines are rigged or that ballot boxes fall off the truck there but the results are similarly just mystifying to me.

The failure of analysis might be mine (hard to believe) but there does seem to be some sort of Klingon tractor beam that makes elections come out “backward.” It was the same with our intervention in Libya. The beam was on full blast there but its point of origin was hard to locate.

I don’t know about the [NSDAP] angle but Chilton Williamson at Chronicles magazine has written an insightful article, “The Long March Through the Constitution” (subscription) about the victory of the centralizers who managed to destroy the original federal-state scheme. States became irrelevant and the income tax amendment gave the crony capitalists and federal politicians undreamed of, inconceivable amounts of cash to throw around to ensure the election of tractable nonentities. Over 300M people live in this country and even now the starting lineup in the presidential sweepstakes includes a lying, ultra left, vindictive (Billy Dale) female with a national security disaster as her closest adviser, a tepid, fatuous (“act of love”) wannabe member of the Bush Dynasty, the joke from New Jersey, and the joke in the VP’s office.

See also this article, “Losing Federalism,” by Donald Livingston at Chronicles (also subscription).

Obamacare is an austerity program first of all – no doubt about it. A bailout for the HC insurance system which cannot sustain its payouts for services versus what is written off as bad debt and put on the backs of the taxpayers. And second of all, it is the vehicle to put your personal data and bank account at the disposal of the government’s IRS henchmen. It was never intended to be ANYTHING at all like what it was advertised to be.

I have come to the conclusion that the progressives REALLY DO want to kill off about 1/3 of the world’s population. And they’re going to do it by social engineering and economic sabotage.

  • Albert8184

No. Insurance is ALWAYS a ponzi scheme ultimately, and not a solution long term. And most people live paycheck to paycheck – those needing an MSA most can afford it the least.

The is one reason and one reason only why HC is so expensive and getting moreso everyday. And that reason is deliberate and calculated by the entity that implements and enforces it: Government. And it’s government using economic distortion as a weapon of mass destruction.

Put the economy back to more of a laissez faire system and slash over-regulation and then, and only then, will you see the remedy for the problem.

As Reagan said, Government IS the problem.

  • Bruce

You guys don’t get it. The Republicans are NOT agaisnt the Democrats on Obama Care. The WHOLE thing is a scam and BOTH parties are in on it. Imagine the MAJOR financial wind fall for the insurance companies. In addition, the government gets a wind fall of money from the upcoming fines. Of course the Republicans have to act as if they are outraged. It’s all a part of the great deception.

Bush Jr. inacted Medicare part “D” and look at the wind fall of profits that the pharmacy industry got. Hell ove half of the TV commercials are from drug companies, they have the money. Not to mention the ridiculous rise in drug prices. Now the insurance companies want their share of the bonanza.

After all look who puts all these liars and bozoos in office, Special interest.

  • A.S.

Most Republicans voted for Obamacare in the first place, so they are sell outs. Doesn’t matter they won many seats and are now the majority. They are the same sellouts who will not overturn Obamacare. We are stuck with it and this was done on purpose to destroy America.
