Tech Stocks Experience Their Longest Losing Streak In 5 Years As Panic Begins To Grip The Market

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

S&P 500 tech stocks have now fallen for 9 days in a row.  The last time tech stocks declined for so many days in a row was in 2012, and that was the only other time in history when we have seen such a long losing streak.  As I have stated before, the post-election “Trump rally” is officially done, and the market is starting to roll over as investors begin to realize that all of the buying momentum has completely evaporated.  Tech stocks tend to be particularly volatile, and so the fact that they are starting to lead the way down should definitely be alarming to many in the investing community.

Of course it isn’t just tech stocks that are falling.  The Dow was down another 59 points on Wednesday, and the S&P 500 has closed beneath its 50 day moving average for the very first time since the election.  For those that have been waiting for a key technical signal before getting out of the market, there is one for you.

The price of gold was up again, and that is definitely not surprising in this geopolitical environment.  The closer we get to war the higher gold and silver prices will go, and if we actually get into a major conflict we will see them blast into the stratosphere.

Another key indicator that I am watching very closely is the VIX.  On Wednesday it shot up above 16 for the very first time since the day after Trump’s election victory, and many believe that it could soon go much higher.  The following is an excerpt from a CNBC report

The VIX measures the size of the S&P 500’s expected moves over the next 30 days, and consequently tends to run just a bit hotter than volatility over the past 30 days. Yet one-month realized volatility is just 6.7, meaning the VIX is at a roughly 9-point premium, which Chintawongvanich calls “highly unusual.”

That said, he notes that implied volatility was also at a large premium preceding the U.K. referendum to leave the EU and the U.S. presidential election. The obvious conclusion is that the market is now similarly preparing itself for the French presidential election, which is set to be held on April 23. Some fear that a populist candidate could prevail, which may cause more problems for the European Union and thus for economic stability.

As noted in that excerpt, the upcoming French election is absolutely huge.  If the election goes “the wrong way” according to the globalists, it could literally mean the end of the European Union as it is configured today.

And of course of even greater concern is the global march toward war.  It is being reported that North Korea is on the verge of a major nuclear weapons test, and such an act of defiance could be enough to push Donald Trump into conducting a major military strike.

But if Trump does hit North Korea, it is quite likely that North Korea will hit back.  The North Koreans are promising to use nuclear weapons in any conflict with the United States, and if Trump bungles this thing we could easily be looking at a scenario in which millions of people end up dead.

Things also continue to get more tense in the Middle East.  The Russians and the Iranians are promising to respond to any additional U.S. strikes “with force”, and on Wednesday Trump declared that our relationship with Russia “may be at an all-time low”.

Of course this came shortly after Secretary of State Rex Tillerson used similar language following his face to face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Russian President Vladimir Putin held more than two hours of “very frank” talks Wednesday in the Kremlin amid tensions over a U.S. airstrike against a Syria air base blamed for last week’s deadly chemical attack.

In remarks to reporters after the meeting, Tillerson said he told the Russian leader that current relations between the two countries are at a “low point.”

If the Trump administration conducts any more strikes on Syria, it is quite likely that the Russians and Iranians will make good on their threats and will start firing back.

And once U.S. aircraft or U.S. naval vessels come under fire, the calls for war in Washington will become absolutely deafening.

Unfortunately, Trump is not likely to back down any time soon because the recent missile strike in Syria has dramatically boosted his popularity.  According to every recent survey, the American people overwhelmingly approve of what Trump did…

A Morning Consult/Politico poll released Wednesday found that 57% of Americans supported airstrikes in Syria, 58% supported establishing a no-fly zone over parts of Syria including strikes against Syria’s air-defense systems, and 63% of Americans thought the US should do more to end the Syrian conflict. Even more, 66% of respondents said they supported the Trump administration’s strike last week specifically.

This mirrored results of another recent poll from CBS News in which 57% of Americans said they approved of the US strike. A Pew Research Center survey from this week showed a similar level of support, with 58% of Americans approving of the strike.

Sadly, this is a time when the majority is dead wrong.  Many of those that are supporting military action against Syria now were vehemently against it when Barack Obama was considering it.

Even Donald Trump spoke out very strongly against military intervention in Syria in 2013, and he was quite right to do so, and so what has suddenly changed that now makes it okay?

There is nothing to be gained in Syria, but we could very easily end up in a direct military conflict with Russia, Iran and Hezbollah which could ultimately prove to be the spark that sets off World War III.

And of course a military strike on North Korea could also potentially spark a global war.  The first Korean War resulted in a direct military conflict between the United States and China, and the second Korean War could easily result in the exact same thing happening again.

Do the American people really want war with both Russia and China at the same time?

It has been said that you should be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it.

    • Carl

God cannot be in control and there be free will. You can’t have it both ways to suit whatever your mood is. If he is in control and allows evil to continue on this planet then he is evil.

      • Cinderella Man

No only child rapists like yourself are evil. You are a typical retarded atheist. You don’t want to believe in God because you don’t want to think there is a consequence for the vile things you say and do with this time you have on Earth. I also notice like your fellow cowards you will not stand up against Islam. Instead you attack Christians because you think they are an easy target. I’m not one of those. In fact I’m one of those types that would have put you thru the inquisition or have been riding into battle during the crusades. You are weak and you stand for nothing. But I assure you sexer Carl everybody pays the bill in the end. I just wish I could meet you to make you pay it sooner!

        • anonymous

How do you know he is a child rapist? Jumping to a conclusion like that makes me think that you have a predisposition toward child sex fantasies. Out of the heart the mouth speaks.

          • Cinderella Man

I believe Carl is either a pervert or a sex offender in his defense of a child being raped by Muslim immigrant children in my neighboring state of Idaho. He thinks its excusable because of their age and instead of agreeing that it was a monstrous act he tried to debunk me and besmirch that poor family. Little does that idiot know that I have personally corresponded with that family and I know there is a huge effort by the local authorities in Twin Falls to minimize the crime. They paid the family 4500 and told them good luck. Carl is an atheist coward and like typical leftists he will attack and slander Christians but refuses to condemn Islam or recognize their evil. So keep using that tired argument I could care less. I’m gonna attack Carl until he either leaves or acts like a decent person to others.

          • Carl

There are evil people in ALL religions.

You are an example of one in the christian religion.

I did not defend child rapists.

I merely said that rape is terrible and that if you were really concerned about it you should be just as angry about american citizens who rape americans rather than just picking and choosing to be angry about someone from another country who comes here and rapes children and women.

Yet for you and many like you, you pick and choose who you will be angry at and decide to hate all immigrants and all muslims because of the terrible acts of some of them.

In the Idaho case they were children with the youngest of 7 committing the sexual assault.

There are plenty of people in other religions who do the same things.

Think of ALL the justification christians made for Josh Duggar at 14 years old saying he was just a child and excusing his behavior because of his age.

Yet AGE has nothing to do with it NOR religion. There are just some people who have a compulsion to do terrible things to children regardless of religion or nationality.

The US has thousands upon thousands of these rapists and child predators that are NOT in jail because they were never prosecuted or the victims remained silent, or family members did not believe them and did nothing or the family did believe them but still did nothing.

Saying that ALL muslims are rapists is NOT true. It breeds hatred toward ALL of one group and not just those who are doing bad/evil acts.

Making ALL people of one group the target of your hate is irrational and shows emotional and spiritual immaturity.

With that said I am not supporting our country bringing thousands of refugees here for tax payers to support. Nor am I for law enforcement or government officials covering up crimes of refugees to hide problems and issues. ALL refugees who harm other people should be prosecuted under the full extent allowed by US law and not given special treatment.

You may continue to pour your wrath about child sex offenders on me but it does not address the reality of the world we live in and the epidemic of child predators in the world.

It seems your time would be better spent educating generations of people about child sex abuse and how to stop and prevent it. Not just by Muslims but by people of all nationalities, creeds and religions.

I believe maybe you were abused someone. Perhaps this is why you are so angry and misdirecting that anger towards me. I am truly sorry if this happened to you.

But know there are no statutes on child rape. Take action and prosecute whomever did this to you. You are a tortured soul.

          • Cinderella Man

No I just hate Muslims that came here as a privilege and they abuse said privilege by raping and killing our citizens goes for illegal alien gangbangers. Stop defending rapists and attacking Christians Carl or I’m gonna be the biggest pain in your azz you’ve ever seen

          • Carl

So your anger is more about people coming here without working for it so to speak. I am not defending rapists and you know that as a fact. What I am saying is do not lump ALL Muslims in the same category. Base your hatred on the person who commits said act NOT an entire groups of people.

Also I am not attacking christians. I am merely pointing out the mindset of “human nature” and the fact that they pick and choose what god does and does not do and how many believe he interferes in petty political games but not serious moral crimes.

Since I do not see any Muslims posting that Allah is in control and Allah did this and that I can only argue from their christian perspective.

          • Cinderella Man

You are an apologist for Muslims. To me they are the infidel. You realize they would kill people like you in their country don’t you Carl? Don’t lump all Christians in the same category either. I’m not gonna go around trying to convert but when we have established morals laws and traditions in this country and I see them being attacked I will fight to preserve them. No I don’t think children should be taught about gay sex in elementary school. No a man wearing a wig does not belong in a bathroom with my girlfriend. No Islam should not be forced on kids in school. If we have to accommodate their B.S. then kids should have to have Christian teachings as well.

          • JC Teecher

Speaking of a man in a wig, there was one at the bar in an upscale restaurant at the beach last weekend, and having a make out party with his/her girl lover. The he-she was about 6′ 3″and too masculine to pull off his fake boobs on his broad chest, and the nail polish on his big hairy hands, to come across as feminine. the he-she kept the wig semi wrapped around her head to hide the obvious looking male facial structure; even with heavy make-up and lipstick.

We ignored the two, and just enjoyed our meal as if they did not exist. apparently they wanted an audience as they kept hugging, fondling, and kissing, as if they needed a cold shower or a room.

          • Carl

Your morals are not the morals of your government leaders. What they are is not even close to what a normal human being is.

Laws and traditions are not set in stone and some are backwards and a sign of the times and old beliefs that need to be changed.

While I do admit that some things need to be preserved. I also believe that the spirit of how and why a person goes about it can make it either a good thing or a bad thing.

What the mainstream spreads on tv and how most people are is 2 different things. Gay and transgender people can even attest to that and I am sure many are just as outraged at the way they are portrayed on tv and in the media and by paid influencers.

Schools are a training ground for corporations. Nothing more. They do not actually teach students anything other than how to regurgitate information. Many imaginations have been squashed under the pretense of getting an education.

          • Cinderella Man

Umm yeah my morals are very much the morals of MY GOVERNMENT LEADERS NOW CARL!!! President Trump’s views very much reflect my own. He is a good man no matter what you the MSM and any of the other radical leftist atheist communist scum say about it. I absolutely believe he actually cares about protecting his people of our country my country not yours. And that’s God’s people. We won and we will do absoulety everything necessary to keep him in office. By bullet or ballot. See Carl I’m one of those 3%ers that will actually do battle like our forefathers did to protect our land from enemies foreign and domestic. I’m not just spouting this crap just to say it. And I called you out coward and so far you fail to impress me. See you run your mouth Carl. In real life you wouldn’t talk to me and mine like you talk to people on here. I told you before bud. See I’m feeling very confident these days. Felt like a whipped dog in the past 8. But now it’s your turn and you’re feeling the pain!! Boom Shakala I’m out!!!!

          • JC Teecher

            I here ya CM.
I will be here cheering you on.

Carl is a liberal, and worse, he is anti-God, without a conscience.
He was either born with an argumentative spirit, or acquired it thru evil spirits just like argumentative liberals do.

You cannot ever have an intelligent discussion or even an argument whereby you win with these people, because; they are not normal. They have sold their souls for the sake of greed and pride.
Sometimes the pride takes center stage as does with the flaming faQQots that wave their rainbow flags in the face of Christians and want nothing more than to eliminate Christianity from the face of the earth because it is a constant reminder of their impending doom and death sentence for the soul.

Deep down they know it, and just like Satan, they want to take as many of our innocent children down with them, as they push their agenda thru our educational systems. Now they have come up with 70+ variations of gender sex neutral terms, of which anyone so associated, can change on a whim, and completely change their sex status as determined by their birth certificate.
What some of the twisted perverts want is to be able to legally rape children under eighteen, without consequences.
The liberals are supporting this type evil.

          • Carl

So you think it is right for Cinderella to spread lies and rumors about people?

          • JC Teecher

No, I do not think it is right for anyone to spread rumors and lies, and especially from liberals and atheists like yourself.

You have done your fair share about me, so buck off..buckaroo do.

          • Carl

            Example please.

          • Troll Patrol

“I believe Carl is either a pervert or a sex offender…”

I believe Carl is Gay Veteran.

            I don’t think so.

          • Gay Veteran

So tell us what you have done?

          • Troll Patrol

            Hi Carl.

          • Cinderella Man

          • jakartaman

            Berlin, Paris for gay flyers

          • Carl

            The USA is ISIS

        • retired22

This is what has been taught in the public schools for at least the last 60 years.
They are not atheists in the sense that they don’t believe in God.
They are indoctrinated by the leftists in the school system to believe in Humanism.
Humanism is Essentially worship of Humanity.
A Humanist doesn’t need to believe in a God in Heaven,he believes that as Humanist he can worship himself as a human god!
In an extreme form this is Communism!

          • Carl

Religion does not teach morality. I am starting to believe it is genetically imprinted in our DNA and also cellular memory plays a part in the person you become.

If more people stopped waiting for god to do something and took an active role in life then maybe this world could see some real change.

          • awb22

If it was enough for man to do good, then that would be enough, wouldn’t it? If it’s in our DNA, then that would be enough. Are maybe we can engineer better people. Unfortunately, you are wrong, and have no basis to make any such assertion. You’ve just proven that you will grasp at anything to avoid admitting you are wrong, and God is right.

          • Carl

“If it was enough for man to do good, then that would be enough, wouldn’t it?” BUT that is a biblical quote awb22 is it not?

My comment about genetic imprint and cellular memory is still valid.

People do need to start being active not passive in life.

Saying I’ll pray about it is meaningless and excuse many use to avoid doing or helping someone. It is akin to saying I will think about it or maybe.

          • awb22

No, it’s not a biblical quote. Genetic imprinting and cellular memory smacks of quackery and pseudo science, and how a person chooses to be active doesn’t have to meet with your approval, an avowed athiest, in fact, if it doesn’t, that’s a positive.

      • Troll Patrol

This world is not presently under Divine rule.
        It is under Satanic rule.
That is why it is so evil.
That is why you are so evil.

        • anonymous

Correction. WE are evil. Nobody no not one is good.

          • Carl

Yes We commit evil and good acts by our own choice. God intervenes on No ones behalf.

          • awb22

Unless you ask, which even then doesn’t prevent him from intervening. It’s a difficult thing being omnipotent.

          • Carl

According to your own bible jesus said whatever you ask will be given to you. So is jesus a liar? Or is it that the bible is an allegorical book that is not meant to have any type of literal translation. Only figurative?

          • awb22

The bible wasn’t written for unbelievers and needs no defense from me.

As for figurative and literal, it is meant to be taken literally is some places and figurative in others, and yes, it matters which is which.

          • Carl

So maybe when people interpret something as literal it is really mean to be figurative and vice versa. We really have no way of knowing what is meant to be taken literally or figuratively and are supposed to rely on “men” to tell us what we should believe.

          • awb22

Correct, and scholars over centuries have studied the bible. We have as good an understanding of the what the bible says as we’re ever going to, barring the discovery of some undiscovered text predating what is already extant.

90% of the bible is straightforward and and needs no interpretation. The other 10% must be interpreted in the context, or where the word or words have been used before.

God haters reject the 90% that is straightforward and focus on the 10% to generate dissent.

          • Carl

“Correct, and scholars over centuries have studied the bible.” It still does not mean their interpretations are correct it just means that they came to a consensus about what such and such means.

Even christians can’t agree. That is why there are so many branches. And all believe their way is the right and only way.

So what 10% of the bible is not straight forward and is figurative. Examples…

Would you agree the story of lazurus is only an allegorical story? Same with Job?

          • awb22

Christians don’t have to agree. The fundamental issue is that of salvation, of which most agree.

You can look up Figures of Speech used in the Bible, by E.W. Bullinger for figurative usages.

Literal interpretation is a little tougher. Scripture must be interpreted literally, unless it is an impossibility, a contradiction, or an absurdity, and must be read in context.

I’m not writing this for your benefit, Carl, but for anyone else who may be reading, just as the bible wasn’t written for unbelievers, but for believers. I wasn’t clear on what literal interpretation of scripture entailed, and you’re question prompted me to research it.

“For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecc 12:14 ESV)

          • Troll Patrol

            Hi Gay Veteran.

          • JC Teecher

You are “wrong” once again, as with the majority of your posts on any given day.
God’s election, and the “pre-ordained ones”, have an element of freewill, but God’s Holy angels work on their behalf…all the time. sometimes things are worked out for their benefit, to benefit others, through blessings, to ultimately bless their Creator; many weeks, or even months in advance.
Time is of not of the essence on our clock, but on the time clock of our Father.
His timing is now culminating into the final consummation for the end of this age, and it is right around the corner.
Put on your asbestos little tightey whiteys little carl, and hang on for a hot, bumpy ride ahead, over a hotbed of hell fire coals.

          • Carl

So the saved do not have free will? It is either yes they do or no they don’t. Not degrees of free will.

What about preachers who commit evil acts? Why doesn’t gods angels take care of them? Instead they are allowed to continue Sunday after Sunday preaching. God does nothing. Some get caught and others still have not gotten caught and continue on.

Not worried about hell since it does not exist.

          • JC Teecher

Why all the concern for Christians and the sins they commit, and about free will, if Hell does not exist?

Because deep down you know there is coming a day of reckoning and reading of what is in your book of life.
In that day, you will no longer be able to bash and criticize God, Jesus, and the saved Christians.
You will be silenced from the face of God and all His children that love Him as Father and Creator.

You and all the other God hating liberals and atheists will squall out with fear and gnashing of your teeth in pain, in that day.
Have a good trip, for I will not shed a tear for you and them.

          • GSOB

            Please read &
            Galatians 2:16
            Galatians 2:21 &

Do you understand what it means?

          • Carl

Yes but it does not make it true.

          • GSOB

So, you understand your predicament, right?

            See John 3:18
So,…… it is your word against His on what condition your condition is in. Who’s do you think will prevail?
You think you are good but He says there is not one who is good.

            Mark 16:16

          • Carl

I am in no predicament at all. Just because your bible says it does not make it true. People have the capability of being good or evil. It is a general statement many could have made just by watching human beings and observing their behavior. So what does that prove?

          • GSOB

I leave you to yourself then. Just remember, at least while you read this,…
you will die one day. We all do. When you do die, where will your soul go?
You have no recourse but to die. Why do you die? What are you doing to escape death besides putting running from it or putting it off?

          • awb22

            I also like Romans 10:9 – 10.

“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.”

          • Carl

I don’t mind dying. It’s the process before the actual death that bothers me. I don’t want eternal life. It has no appeal to me.

          • awb22

Yes, it does, by definition. What is your definition of true?

        • GSOB

          It is under Divine rule.
All people have a relationship to the Lord God.
Is the relationship one of estrangement an enmity or is it one of peace and love in His Son? This is the question to be sorted out in your life time.

      • anonymous

God is in control if we allow God to be in control. Problem is, we take back control. Free will is an amazing thing.

        • Carl

That makes no sense whatsoever. It is still you doing whatever thing you are doing good or bad not god.

      • awb22

        Unless, you’re God.

      • wahoojed

You’re under the influence of Satan.

      • Richard O. Mann

We don’t have the free will many think. But, you can go on with that if you wish.

      • GSOB

The truth of the matter is, unless you are born again, you remain in bondage to sin and under the law of sin and death, which works within you and you will die.

        • Carl

The truth is even the born again are under the so called bondage of sin since they are just as capable of doing it,

          • GSOB

Now, if that were the case, how would you know?

          • FirstGarden

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
            – The Great Apostle
            Romans 7

            But it doesn’t end there.

            1) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

            2) For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

            3) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

            4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

            5) For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

            6) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

            7) Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

            8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

            9) But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

            10) And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

            11) But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

            12) Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

            13) For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

            14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

            15) For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

            16) The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

            17) And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Tesla’s ‘crazy’ climb to America’s most valuable car company

The luxury electric-car company Tesla has yet to turn a profit, losing hundreds of millions of dollars last year alone. But on Monday, the darling of Silicon Valley became the most valuable American car company, surpassing General Motors.

Tesla becomes most valuable car company in the US: Electric car manufacturer overtakes giants GM and Ford in market capitalization but even CEO Elon Musk admits it could be ‘absurdly overpriced’

Despite being just a fraction of the size of its competitors, Tesla Motors is now the leading automotive company in market capitalization after soaring shares over the past few months.

The Tesla stock bubble just got terrifying

Tesla’s stock has been on a tear.

On Monday the carmaker’s market cap exceeded that of General Motors: $51 billion. This is about $15 billion more than where Tesla was valued for much of 2016. And it’s about $7 billion more than Ford.

None of this makes any sense. Tesla’s business fundamentals haven’t changed substantially since late last year, and its first-quarter deliveries — 25,000 vehicles — set a sales pace for 2017 that will see Tesla produce about only 100,000 cars in 2017, an improvement of 20,000 over 2016.

Tesla only delivered over 76,000 vehicles in 2016

Puerto Rico seen sliding toward insolvency as deadline nears

Bankruptcy for Puerto Rico is looking ever more likely as the clock ticks down toward a May 1 deadline to restructure $70 billion in debt, ramping up uncertainty for anyone betting on returns from the island’s widely held U.S. municipal bonds.

When U.S. Congress last year passed the Puerto Rico rescue law dubbed PROMESA, it froze creditor lawsuits against the island so its federally appointed oversight board and creditors could negotiate out of court on the biggest debt restructuring in U.S. municipal history.

The freeze expires on May 1, however, and an extension by Congress is “not going to happen,” said a Republican aide to the House Committee on Natural Resources, which is in charge of territory matters.

    • socalbeachdude

Yes, another flipflop by Trump, but he has always loved low interest rates and has depended on them in the commercial real estate business where has has borrowed billions of dollars for The Trump Organization. All interest rates that matter in the US economy are set in the US Treasuries markets which the Federal Reserve keys off to set the only 3 interest rates that they do set and which have no impact whatsoever on the US economy. Yields (interest rates) have been rising dramatically in the US Treasuries markets since July 2016 and now the Federal Reserve is simply play catch-up to those interest rates.

Foreign journalists in NKorea told to prepare for ‘big’ event…

North Korea is preparing to detonate a new nuclear bomb to mark ‘Day of the Sun’ as Kim Jong-un warns of a ‘big event’ TODAY and President Trump’s armada moves in

US military officials fear North Korea has placed a nuclear test in a tunnel with the potential to detonate on Saturday. It comes as foreign journalists visiting North Korea were told to prepare for a ‘big and important’ event on Thursday. North Korean officials gave no details as to the nature of the event but there were no indications it was directly linked to tensions in the region over the isolated state’s nuclear weapons program. Tensions are running high, with a U.S. Navy strike group steaming toward the western Pacific in a show of force and North Korea warning of a nuclear attack on the United States at any sign of American aggression.

Fox would not discuss whether network executives influenced the duration or timing of O’Reilly’s break, as the host faces an internal investigation into sexual harassment claims against him. But his vacation announcement immediately set off speculation about whether cable television’s most popular host will return at all. The Fox host, who left on Wednesday for the two-week trip, claimed that he booked the time off months ago and often likes to go on vacation at the time of year. however, this is the first time he’s taken such a long break at this time of year in a decade. Nobody sane wants a world war but as history has shown in times of economic peril nothing distracts like a war. I don’t want to see boots on the ground in Syria but what are we as a responsible nation supposed to do? Everyone complains but offers no solution. Here’s my ideas. Syria- Obama funded and armed a questionable revolutionary force that could be freedom fighters but most likely ISIS. Assad dosent want to give up power so they have been locked in a bloody stalemate for 7 years and created a humanitarian crisis. Millions of people displaced. Do we want them here? No. They do not adept well to western cultures and will never assimilate. Instead they try to subvert our laws and customs and install theirs. Will never work. So we need to work with the international community to install a better leader and have safe zones for these people. North Korea- first and foremost China needs to be leading the way in this. They are their chief enabler and they need to cut off good and support until they behave rationally and stop threatening us with nuclear weapons. I live in the western U.S. and this concerns me greatly. China needs to evaluate who is more important? The U.S. a huge trading partner that has a symbiotic relationship with their own interests or a tinpot maniacal dictator who starves his people? I pray cooler heads will prevail and I pray for wisdom in all parties. All I know I thank God that insane witch or the weakling is not in charge. We would be in far worse shape.

Trump’s Weaker Dollar Dream at Odds With Strong Economy Promise

President Donald Trump has signaled his preference for a weaker dollar and low interest rates. He may end up with neither if the U.S. economy continues to recover and he delivers on his ambitious agenda of tax cuts and infrastructure spending.

Trump indicated in an interview Wednesday that the U.S. currency is getting so strong that it’s harmful to the economy. “I think our dollar is getting too strong, and partially that’s my fault because people have confidence in me,” he told the Wall Street Journal. “But that’s hurting — that will hurt ultimately.”

The president also left open the possibility of renominating Janet Yellen as Federal Reserve chair for another term, adding he likes “a low interest-rate policy.” U.S. 10-year bond yields slumped and the dollar fell after his remarks were published. Her current term as chair expires in February.

Trump might want to be careful with all that he wishes for. Evidence of a strengthening job market has prompted the Fed to raise rates twice since he was elected president in November.

U.S. stocks have since rallied almost 10 percent and the dollar has held up on optimism that he’ll carry out a plan to cut taxes and boost spending on infrastructure. The bullish sentiment has recently faded on doubts about whether the administration can follow through.

Russia and China do not want war with us, and we do not want war with them. The results would be unthinkable. We all have one thing in common: the instinct of self-survival.

If anything, our relations with China are warming, while those with Russia are growing cold. The article, “China rejects North Korean coal shipments, opts for US supplies instead”, suggests that much.

And, lo & behold, we’re not going to label them a currency manipulator.

While the prospect of war with either country makes good sensation for the readership, it’s just not very likely. Possible, but not likely. China is too huge a trading partner, and has no great love for a wayward, despotic, saber-rattling, cheeseburger-worshiping fat boy. They just tolerate him for the Marxist ideology.

Russia has no love affair with Assad either. It’s all about their national interests, nothing more. Enough ease of sanctions, bear food & vodka will take the edge off. Perhaps there are even alternatives to be creatively pursued with a nation that we have NEVER gone to war with. At least directly.

Nor have we with China, for that matter.
One might say, “Old rivals, older friends.”

More than anywhere else, the main focus of evil today is in the Middle East, and Russia is getting played like a fiddle.

My take on the Syria bombing is Trump forced the neocons hand. He has deflected any criticism of his not taking action, and has literally laid the issue to rest. 59 cruise missiles at $1B on an empty airfield, and it’s operational the next day? Now, can we start talking our domestic budget issues.

    Trump’s move was brilliant.

    • socalbeachdude

Obviously it was an EXTREMELY STUPID AND TOTALLY FATAL MOVE BY TRUMP who succumbed to the NEOCONS and now HUNDREDS OF SYRIANS ARE DEAD TODAY AS A RESULT OF SUCH ASININE WARMONGERING as the situation in Syria turns grave.

US April 13 Syria Terror-Bombing Massacres Hundreds

On April 13, a CENTCOM statement said US-led coalition forces mistakenly killed 18 so-called Syrian Democratic Forces south of Tabqa, Syria, claiming: “The strike was requested by the partnered forces, who had identified the target location as an ISIS fighting position. The target location was actually a forward Syrian Democratic Forces fighting position.”

CENTCOM said nothing about terror-bombing Hatla village near Deir Ezzor on April 13, massacring hundreds. Syria’s military announced it, saying “ ‘US-led International Alliance’ forces massacred) hundreds, mostly civilians…from inhaling toxic substances,” according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

A facility with “large amount(s) of toxic materials” was struck, “causing a white cloud that became yellow as a result of of the explosion.” “This confirms that Daesh and al-Nusra terrorists possess chemical weapons and are capable of using, obtaining and transporting it with the help of some regional countries.” “This also stresses the fact that those terror groups are coordinating with its sponsors to accuse the Syrian Arab Army of using chemical weapons.”

Interviewed by AFP, Assad called Western and other anti-Syrian accounts of the April 4 Kahn Sheikhoun CW attack a “100% fabrication,” Syria falsely blamed for something it didn’t do. “We gave up our arsenal a few years ago,” Assad stressed. “Even if we (had CWs), we wouldn’t use them, and we have never used (them) in our history.” He believes “the West, mainly the United States, is hand in glove with the terrorists. They fabricated the whole story in order to have a pretext for” Trump’s aggression – based on a Big Lie. Syria had nothing to do with the April CW attack launched from the ground, not the air, as falsely reported. Trump’s pre-planned aggression followed.

    • Carl

Ironically if Obama had done this or Hillary there would have been condemnation by many on this board.

  • A.S.

Trump, I hope you are listening: Assad did not use chemical weapons on his people. Russia is the good guy now. Russia is there to get rid of the real terrorists, who are trying to overthrow Assad. Just like getting rid of Qaddafi and Hussein caused a vacuum and ISIS to be born, so too will getting rid of Assad cause many more problems and much more evil than the dictator himself ever caused.

I voted for you, Trump, but I oppose your military action in Syria and even North Korea 110% . Either you are a fool or you were lied to by your administration. This will be the end of America if you proceed with two wars.

In Syria, let the Russians do their job, who were invited to be involved. If you go into Syria, the U.S. will be an invader, an occupier, the bad guy. In North Korea, find another solution. Ask China for help. Ask other nations in Asia to help. Maybe even ask Israel for help, since they deal with terrorists and dictators all the time. A war with North Korea will cause hundreds of millions of deaths because Kim is a psychopath, a sociopath, is schizophrenic, completely unstable. He doesn’t care about his people nor himself. Just one strike will provoke him to nuke South Korea, Japan, and other Asian nations nearby.

How will you live yourself Trump? How will anyone serving in the army, navy, air force, etc., live with themselves if hundreds of millions of people end up dead? I voted for you, but I DO NOT SUPPORT YOU 110% in these wars you are about to enter.

    • JC Teecher

There does not have to be a war in Syria or N. Korea.
Two evil dictators are stoking the fires of death among the people they claim to represent, but in all reality, they are acting like they have the upper hand.
      They don’t.
They are weak nations leaders, with powerful backing, that would fade like the rays of sun at dusk; if the US military takes them out in their beds at night when all seems well, and they are dreaming of world dominance.

The dynamics of the world stage would change in a heartbeat if they are taken out simultaneously, as they should. Any future demagogue leader would think twice about threatening the world, and especially the US of A, if these rouge leaders were eliminated immediately.

I say; send them to God, and allow Him to pass sentence. Do not let the warmongering politicians and the heart of the industrialized war machine put us into another drawn out, and expensive “troops on the ground war”. End it with fire power from above, and keep our troops from ending up in body bags.
      God Bless our military personnel.

No Avi, MTS and the rest do not care about that or the hundreds of thousands in Iraq or the children who are orphans in said countries because their parents were killed. Unfortunately most humans have the us vs them mentality when it comes to war and never think about those on the other side of the globe as human beings. If they did I doubt they would be as gung ho for the bloodshed.

Many Americans do not think about the suffering past their own borders. They believe god is on their side and that everyone else who is not christian is cannon fodder.

    • socalbeachdude

No, they most certainly do not care in the slightest.

I cannot help but notice not one drop of chemical weapons have been used since the missile strike. The world saw our previous President as the spineless jellyfish that he is. Trump on the other hand does what he say he will do and the world has noticed. China is telling the overgrown Bully-Brat of North Korea to dial it back a few notches before Trump lays the smack down on him. The Bully-Brat is listening to big brother China. Go Trump, Make America great……and feared.

    • socalbeachdude

The government of Syria does not possess let alone use chemical weapons.

if I recall, the only time chem weapons have been used were pretexts for involving the US.

If the utter moron in the White House does get the USA (and maybe the rest of the world) into a hot war in the Middle east and maybe also NK does that give him the ability to suspend the debt ceiling issue for as long as the war persists and maybe even after? With one eye on his approval ratings, which appear to show the American people want to see foreigners killed by US military capability, there must surely be a great temptation at the WH to rescue his failing presidency and cover up his problems by engaging in warmongering.

Fear Is Creeping Back Into Markets – Bloomberg

The calm in stocks worldwide is giving way to concern, with investors in Europe and the U.S. rushing to hedge against declines and a Credit Suisse Group AG index flashing a warning as the list of economic and political obstacles grows.

The Credit Suisse Fear Barometer, which measures the cost of buying protection against declines in the S&P 500 Index, neared an all-time high this week. The higher the reading, the more expensive it is to buy protection relative to upside calls, according to Mandy Xu, an equity derivatives strategist at Credit Suisse.

US drops biggest non-nuclear weapon on ISIS: 21,000lb GBU-43 bomb is used for first time in combat on caves in Afghanistan

The United States has dropped its largest non-nuclear weapon after it targeted ISIS caves in Afghanistan.

The military used a GBU-43 bomb – which weighs a staggering 21,000lbs – and the radius from the blast is believed to more than 300 metres. It has been described as the ‘mother of all bombs’ and the Pentagon today confirmed that it was dropped in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.

The action is believed to be the first time the non-nuclear weapon has been used in a combat situation. It has been reported that a MC-130 aircraft released the weapon at 7pm local time.
