This 2 Day Stock Market Crash Was Larger Than Any 1 Day Stock Market Crash In U.S. History

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Sunrise Globe Earth Planet Space - Public DomainWe witnessed something truly historic happen on Friday.  The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted 530 points, and that followed a 358 point crash on Thursday.  When you add those two days together, the total two day stock market crash that we just witnessed comes to a grand total of 888 points, which is larger than any one day stock market crash in U.S. history.  It is also interesting to note that this 888 point crash comes in the 8th month of our calendar.  Perhaps that is just a coincidence, and perhaps it is not.  It just struck me as being noteworthy.  This is the first time that the Dow has dropped by more than 300 points on two consecutive days since November 2008, and we all remember what was happening back then.  Overall, this was the worst week for the Dow in four years, and there have only been five other months throughout history when the Dow has fallen by more than a thousand points (the most recent being October 2008).  Of course we still have six more trading days left in August, so there is plenty of time remaining for even more carnage.

By itself, the 530 point plunge on Friday was the ninth worst stock market crash in all of U.S. history.  The following list of the top eight comes from Wikipedia

#1 2008-09-29 −777.68

#2 2008-10-15 −733.08

#3 2001-09-17 −684.81

#4 2008-12-01 −679.95

#5 2008-10-09 −678.91

#6 2011-08-08 −634.76

#7 2000-04-14 −617.77

#8 1997-10-27 −554.26

Another very interesting thing to note is that the largest stock market crash in U.S. history took place on the very last day of the Shemitah year of 2008, and now we are less than a month away from the end of this current Shemitah year.

It is funny how these strange “coincidences” keep happening.

The financial carnage that we witnessed on Friday was truly global in scope.  On a percentage basis, Chinese stocks crashed even more than U.S. stocks did.  Japanese stocks also crashed, so did stock markets all over Europe, and emerging market currencies all over the planet got absolutely destroyed.

The following is how Zero Hedge summarized what went down…

  • China’s worst week since July – closes at 5 month lows
  • Global Stocks’ worst week since May 2012
  • US Stocks’ worst week in 4 years
  • VIX’s biggest weekly rise ever
  • Crude’s longest losing streak in 29 years
  • Gold’s best week since January
  • 5Y TSY Yield’s biggest absolute drop in 2 years

Even though I specifically warned that this would happen, and have been explaining why it would happen on my website in excruciating detail for months, the truth is that I didn’t expect stocks to start crashing this quickly or this ferociously.

Normally, August is a fairly slow month in the financial world.  As I have discussed previously, most of the really noteworthy stock market crashes throughout history have taken place during the months of September and October.  So I thought that things wouldn’t start getting really crazy for another few weeks at least.

Financial markets tend to fall much faster than they go up, and I believe that we are moving into a time of extraordinary volatility.  There will be huge down days, and there will also be huge up days.  In fact, the three largest single day rallies in Dow history happened right in the middle of the financial crisis of 2008.  So don’t let what happens on any one particular day fool you.

An absolutely gigantic global financial bubble is beginning to burst, and stocks could potentially fall a very, very long way.  For instance, just consider what MarketWatch columnist Brett Arends has just written…

I don’t mean to be alarmist or to induce panic, but someone needs to tell the public that there is a plausible scenario in which the U.S. stock market now collapses by another 70% until the Dow Jones Industrial Average falls to about 5,000.

It is important to keep in mind that Arends is not a “bear” at all.  He is a very level-headed analyst that tries to objectively look at all sides of things.

I sincerely hope that global financial markets will stabilize for at least a couple of weeks.  But there is absolutely no guarantee that will happen.

So many of the things that I have been warning about on this website and on End of the American Dream are starting to unfold right in front of our eyes.  If I am right, this is just the beginning.  I believe that we are moving into a time of unprecedented chaos, and our nation is about to be shaken to the core.

Hopefully you have been preparing for the storm that is coming for quite a while and you will not be surprised by what is about to happen.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the vast majority of Americans.  Most of them are totally unprepared for what is coming, and they are going to be completely blindsided by the events that will unfold in the months ahead.

The relative calm of the past few years has lulled millions into a false sense of complacency.

If you are one of those that have dozed off, I have a word of warning for you…

Wake up and get ready.

It’s starting.

The Economic Collapse Blog Has Issued A RED ALERT For The Last Six Months Of 2015.

    Published 6/25/2015.

    133 days until 12/31/2015.

Lets do a count down every day until the end of 2015 and see just what happens.

    ——————————————————————————

    By Michael S, on July 31st, 2015.

“And I kind of appreciate the countdown. It reminds people of my warning, and perhaps it will give some readers a renewed sense of urgency.”

    • Malcolm Reynolds

You’re a moron for mocking someone you claim you agree for things you’ve only imagined he said.
You’re a credit to imbeciles everywhere.

      • Alwaystomorrow

        By Michael S, on July 31st, 2015.

“And I kind of appreciate the countdown. It reminds people of my warning, and perhaps it will give some readers a renewed sense of urgency.”

        • Malcolm Reynolds

Irrelevant. Weren’t you whining like a little bitch not too long ago about getting banned or something?

          • Alwaystomorrow

Yes. That was then and this is now. Things change from day to day just like life, the markets and the economy.

          • Malcolm Reynolds

Oh ok. So then the proper response to you posting “And I kind of appreciate…” is “But only when you’re not whining like a little bitch because he banned you for mocking him”. Gotcha Mr tomorrow. As you said, I’ll be sure to include that in my posts.

          • Alwaystomorrow

Since you and I are friends, no need to be formal by referring to me as Mr. tomorrow. You can call ne Always. :-)

    • Bill

You can cease your countdown. It is now happening!!!

“And I kind of appreciate the countdown. It reminds people of my warning, and perhaps it will give some readers a renewed sense of urgency.”

        • Bill

          Good point.

    • leebo

      I love this

      • Alwaystomorrow

        :-)

  • John Paul

Who cares? Ther percent change from the original figure is more signifcant than the point variance. Any low brow thinker knows this. Post this in percent change for God’s sake. Bigger market, bigger crash. Sheeish…..

    • Alwaystomorrow

Okay. An 888 point loss is a 5.11904% drop.

      • John Paul
      • alan

        When I think crash I’m thinking 20%+.
5% is just stuff jumping around.

        • leebo

Lol, we are down very close to 10% since the may 19th high. One more big drop and we might see 20% before September

    • John Paul

Past two days is ~ 5% change The 777 drop in 2008 was ~7%. Put it in perspective next time instead of being a deceptive alarmist. Larger market, larger drop. Babe Ruth vs Barry Bonds. Get it?

      • Mike Smithy

I was with you until you interjected with baseball players.

  • Harbinger

It is interesting to note that the number 8 signifies a new beginning. It is also interesting to note that Israel fired missles into Syria and you hear nothing about it on the news. Interesting times for sure, but this is only the beginning. The next few months are going to be a roller coaster of unbleivable events. You can’t say you haven’t been warned!

    • CASTIEL

And that the ISIS are financed by the USA and Israel……of course you dont had heard nothing in the news…….Cecil the Lion had more importance :) How naive people are by not seeking the true in the right questions but seeking stupidity in the wrong and insignificant aspects of the world….

      • Mike

Elaborate on ISIS being financed by Israel.

        • Daystrom2012

          He can’t

          • CASTIEL

Yes I can….. I thaught that you already know this situation…ISIS is being financed By the Mossad to continue a civil war to wheaken Syria in form that Israel expand their borders…..Tell me why is Israel bombing the army of Syria and not Isis??????That question answers to your question….dont you think??

          • retired22

If you could learn to read & write English I might understand what you are talking about. Then I could decide whether or not I agree with you!

          • CASTIEL

IF you were more intellegent you would understand what i said……you Understand that?

        • hon788

The point of posting non stop messages
is funny how one thinks they must change the world to their thoughts.

      • dlewenz

Not sure if you were aware, but the Pope is Jewish!

      • retired22

Israel is having a hard enough time financing it’s own military,..they don’t have excess money laying around to finance the Arabs!

        • Isaac

          Oh really??

          • retired22

            Yeah Really,Shmuck!

          • CASTIEL

well i dont think so……and i think theres no need to insult people dont you think????

          • retired22

            People….?Where,who?

        • Gay Veteran

why, they’re getting $billions from us taxpayers

          • retired22

Guys like you have been kicking this crap around for ever,…by now it’s standardized! So let me straighten you out,..if that is possible!

The money flows right back to the military industrial complex which makes the war profiteers happy. They in turn pay off the politicians which makes them happy.
They also sell military equipment to all of Israel’s Moslem enemies,..Which also makes them happy. It so happens that the Moslem states around Israel are all technologically primitive. They can’t field & supply a modern army without outside help from these same military/industrial weapons merchants. So if these war profiteers didn’t sell weapons to the Moslems,..The Moslems wouldn’t be able to make war on Israel,or each other for that matter! If this were to happen Israel wouldn’t need American credits to buy upgraded weapons to protect itself from these same Moslems who are threatening Israel with American weapons systems bought from American arms dealers. All of this would make Israel very happy to rid themselves of the need to keep upgrading their military. This would also make the American Military/Industrial people & the politicians they bribe very unhappy about all of the business they would lose selling death in the Middle East.
I hope this explains it to you,..but I doubt it.You will never get it straight!

          • CASTIEL

How about simple words for you : ISRAEL attacks Syria after Israel supportted the ISIS to create a civil war…After that Syria is fragile and Israel have a Fragile enemy……MISSION : expand their borders and create Mayhen and chaos …..OH and i hope your QI is high enough to understand my english

          • retired22

I didn’t at first realize that you were handicapped & I apologize for taking advantage. It’s rough going through life with a QI instead of an IQ!

          • CASTIEL

in Europe we say QI ….you arrogant jew

          • Gay Veteran

well of course it’s all about war profits.
            no war, no war profits.
but is ALL of our aid military related?

    • David_R59

Wrong. Syria fired missiles into Israel. Israel retaliated with strikes by fighter jets, killing four. (and I read about it in the news)

      • Isaac

And what news would that be? Fox, CNN, MSNBC?

        • retired22

Spit it out already, don’t play cat & mouse!
If you are a Jew hater just say so instead of being cute!

      • CASTIEL

LOL Syria had enough problems to start a war with another enemy…dont you think….and dont believe everything on the news

        • retired22

Syria is a pawn of Iran! When Iran tells them to attack Israel that is what they do!

          • CASTIEL

And why would Iran tells them to attack Israel if Syria cant handle a civil war……????

      • G J

Israeli politicians said it was retaliation. But the actually military of the Israeli couldn’t tell who they were retaliation against or why.

      • Mike Smithy

Although the missiles came from Syrian soil. The Syrian government (Assad) had nothing to do with it.

  • CASTIEL

The economic collapse is not the only thing that can threaten the way of life of billions of people…but the war that is aproaching…like North korea make a ultimate to the south…and that crazy guy with a very bad haircut has the possiblity to lauch NUKES….and south korea is an ally of usa, the north korea is the lap dog of China…..i dont know but that doesn t look good. And another thing Israel is attacking Syria….not the extremists of ISIS….but the country that are fyghting them…..I dont understand those jews……There is war everywere……and media continues to report that all is normal….and the majority of people continues to act like nothing happened……I just like to see the expression of their stupid faces when all ends :)
But one thing I Know…the end is close. We had all time to construct a better society..after the mistakes that our mankind done….and look what we have done…what we are about to do….God works in misterious ways…..and He is going to clean all this evil of this planet…..I hope that day arrives

    • rmc9

“Woe to you who long for the day of the Lord! Why do you long for the day of the Lord? That day will be darkness, not light.” Amos 5:18

      • CASTIEL

after darkness will be light and those who follows the message of our Lord are nothing to be afraid of..We already live in the darkness

    • alan

No nukes, I am south of Seoul.

  • John Paul

Why did this article leave out 1987? I don’t understand the painting of incomplete pictures!!!

    • Douglas M. Green

Because it didn’t drop as many points. In percentage terms, yes and that is the true comparison. But what is happening is carnage. Will it continue? Probably as Michael says, ups and downs but mostly downs. However, TPPT could buy stocks. Hell, the central bank of China has, why not the fed when things are really bad? I won’t touch stocks but have no idea what bazooka the fed will bring out, even though they risk a currency collapse/loss of confidence in the dollar if they do. QE4?

  • reasonsformoving

Of course, the proper comparison is % of the market, but that doesn’t make a great headline.

  • AshleyA

Dropped 888 points in 8th month
    358 yesterday 3+5+8
    = 8+8
    530. today 5+3+0
    = 8
    Combined 888
Probably a coincidence but very interesting

    • Nick Tubber

It’s definitely a coincidence. You can make up all kinds of connections, patterns, and cycles after the fact and doesn’t mean the same thing will happen at projected point and time in the future. Therefore it’s useless. At best somewhat curious. C’mon.

      • robertoV05

If you fold your 20 dollar bill a certain way, on one side you see the World Trade Center being burned, on the other side you see the Pentagon aftermath. 9+11=20! Numbers are powerful.

        • df NJ

Again, to agree with Nick, the human mind is a meaning machine. We attribute meaning to every experience in our lives. Just look at clouds in the sky and find animal shapes. It’s the way the mind works. Choosing that it doesn’t mean anything significant has equal strength. The essence of science is coming to a consensus interpretation of our reality with a group of people in agreement about what is a “good” interpretation. However, the WTC thing on the 20 bill is disturbing!

        • Rick

In general, life is one big math equation. In the end, both sides of the equation must balance.

        • Mondobeyondo

I’ve heard that you can see the entire Twin Towers impact and collapse sequence, if you fold the backs of the $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills.

      • 2Gary2

Dude I had 2 polyps removed from my colon. This must mean the stock market will rise 2 points.

        • GSOB

Well…. I just changed my password to
          ‘anchor baby’ !

          • 2Gary2

            Rock on Dawg

    • Mike Smithy

8 is a very lucky number in the Chinese culture. Is it a coincidence that the opening ceremony for the Beijing Summer Olympics took place on 08/08/08? So if we extrapolate this fun fact and apply it to what has occurred with the DOW over the past two days we can only conclude that the Chinese are behind it. (Sarc)

      • Quetzol-43

China is lucky that this happen as the FR dollar as the international trade currency comes to an end, given how much profits they have lost to the inflation of the federal reserve dollar since the 1970s along with much of the rest of the world.

      • jaxon64

The number * in Chinese culture-more specifically- is the “prosperity” number. When a Chinese individual gets a currency note with three consecutive 8’s in the serial number, they do not spend it but save it for good luck ( they are called prosperity notes)–for what it’s worth, the US bureau of printing and engraving also take notes with triple 8’s and sell them individually to collectors at a premium.
Just a little tidbit–not that I place any significance in the number 8 ( which is also the number of Krispy Kremes I usually eat out of a fresh, warm dozen purchased from the kids who are fundraising.)

      • vanzetti

        Absolutely, the conclusion is inescapable!

    • tom

HAHAHA i hope you are joking with all the eights.

      • Mike Smithy

Of course we are joking. Numerology is BS.

        • Jerry C

Numerology is BS, I agree. However, the Bible has one in every four verses with a number, so the numbers are there for a reason. In addition, the Hebrew & Greek languages used their alphabet as numbers interchangeably (i.e. A=1, B=2, etc…). God is the Great Mathematician and His Holy Word proves every job & tittle. Gematria has many forms one can use to get below the textual level and the Bible is as deep as anyone can go. I dare you to challenge yourself to go as deep as you can. Peace.

    • immxdmta4

8 = immortality in the occult
(8 is an upright infinity sign)

      • TheLulzWarrior

        8chan!

      • Yessy Chang

7 is the number of completion. 8 is the number of a new birth or in this case the beginning of a new plan. Probably not a good one, maybe for Jews to gain more as this is their plan in effect

    • Truth Be Told

There is no coincidence Ashley. The had of God is in it. 6 is the number of imperfection. 7 is the number of completeness. 8 is the number marking a new beginning or a new dispensation. We witnessed 666 on 03/13/2013 when Pope Francis was elected. He was announced as Pope at 7:06 pm local time in Rome. 7:06 PM = 6:66 PM. We witnessed 777 in the 2008 Shemitah market crash when the Dow plunged 777 points under the 43 president (4+3 = 7). Now we are witnessing the start of a new beginning with 888 points as you have clearly pointed out under the 44th president (4+4=8). He did not lie when he said “Change has come to America”. This man will be the last president the US will ever have. Chaos and
Artial law will result in elections being canceled. For the first time ever, you will have a president serving more than 8 years. After his tenure will be world governance under a world constitution. Yes, the New World Order has arrived and they are ushering it in. In the next 22 days, life as we know it will change forever. Hug and show much affection to your loved ones because this may be your last opportunity. We are entering into the so called year of light and the age of Aquarius. The numbers always match the times and dispensation.

      • smooze

Correction, not the first president to serve more than 8yrs (FDR), and what is Artial law?

      • vanzetti

did you the hat of god?? Did not know god actually wore hats… but then again, whatever is fashionable in them there parts these days..
6, 7, 8 ascribed some wonderful mystical significances – wherefrom one wonders? the delusional mind is capable of coming up with astonishing stuff. Nest, we’ll hear n how Nostradamus predicted it all!

        • Yessy Chang

Nostradomass was wrong most of the time. The New Testament is all coming true. Jews manipulate the fed, most banking, the media, and your laws. They are taking America one step at a time. They will be the benefactors of America. Not all but for sure the most powerful ones. They do not believe gentiles have god given rights, only they do. And they believe they have the god given right to dictate to you what you should have or if you are worth preserving. When their media says “fair” for everyone it means gentiles eek by and they, the Jews, prosper.

          • GSOB

            lol

      • wiseguy

O.K. smarty pants. Now tell me…. what is a number?

      • GSOB

        LOLOLOL

    • alan

If you add the 8’s up it equals 24. There are 24 inches in two feet! Does that mean something?

      • Mike Smithy

I think you may be onto something. Humans have 2 feet. Therefore, we can only conclude that humans are responsible for the carnage.

        • greyprepper

          Lmao!!!

        • vanzetti

You’ve certainly hit it right on the head there!

      • Rick

Yes, with football season set to kick off, it reminds us of just how close Seattle got to winning the Superbowl.

    • SunnyFlaSnotress

Michael is comparing apples to oranges with this new point obsession. The market really has to be looked at in ratio and percentages to make a fair assessment with the past. We haven’t even reached the recessionary 20% drop, and most of the people on the board are ready to call a priest for their last rites.

      • Guest

That is true. We sit in the 7-8 percent range overall for the year. But his point is that we are already seeing a huge
Drop much earlier than usual. The stock market normally drops in September. So if we are seeing big drops now, it’s likely to see massive drops next month.

      • Ben

It’s going to rebound next week. I predict a 500 plus point gain.

        • Isaac

…Then it will crash again wiping out the 500 points.

        • Gordon

That’s right Ben B.T.F.D. that what I’m doing next week. Buy when there is blood in the streets. Get seriously rich !

        • Tammy

Not today….maybe later in the week??

      • Barry Goldwater

Your fundamental error is in thinking we’re dealing in normal times ie. the way things used to be when normal rules of investing ruled. This market has been pumped up with malinvestment QE 1,2,3 and abnormal interest rate suppression leading to billions of free Dollars flowing into it, inflating valuations , creating a pool of cheap money.
Never in history has Wall Street been flooded with over 4 Trillion in free money.
Wall street has become a wholly owned subsidiary of the Federal Reserve creating a toxic alliance which threatens calamitous results. I’m grateful to God for Michael and his brevity in face of this evil alliance which is destroying our economic foundations.
Remember fiat money depends upon the ever increasing creation of debt. Now debt is consuming the planet.

        • none

          Great news Sunny!
This was the mistake Michele made. If you look at the total amount of money increase. Then this drop isn’t that much.

          • rmc9

            …monday’s commin… :>/

        • Nemnor

Barry Goldwater, in some ways it is “normal times”. The significant stock market crashes are really symptoms of an on-going crisis facing the decadent world-wide Capitalist economic system.

(Imperialist) Capitalism became decadent for some time now (mainly due to reaching a stage of general over-production). But Capitalism entered a more acute stage of (general) on-going crisis from since the late-60s/early-70s – which was the end of the “reconstruction boom” following WW-II, and at a time when most of the other leading (imperialist) Capitalist countries began to “catch up” to the USA and compete for a bigger/better share of the World’s practically LIMITED “economic pie”.

The issue of over-production is insoluble within Capitalism – by economic means alone. And the ultimate destiny of the World under Capitalism is massive world-wide poverty and massive world-wide destruction, through (world) wars, environmental collapse and economic collapse.

The real (permanent) solution begins with dismantling Capitalism and building a new and genuinely democratic economic system in which, goods and services are produced and distributed to abundantly meet the genuine needs society (of every “rational” individual) – as the primary end-purpose of production and distribution, and while take due care of the environment.

          • Barry Goldwater

Hardly so, we’ve only had fiat currency a total of 44 years . We’ve only had a Federal Reserve 102 years.
For the record America began the long road to serfdom in 1933 thereby beginning the long and steady march to end capitalism. With each passing year we’ve added yet another Federal responsibility thus extracting another slice of American’s hard earned income. Printing money and funneling it to Wall Street fat cats isn’t by any stretch of the imagination Capitalism. Recently we just began the process of shifting control of 1/6 the US economy to the Federal Government with yet another massive expansion of Government power and authority.
If indeed true capitalism existed we would have far better than the meager 2% growth now heralded as success. We wouldn’t have to refine the UI numbers to try and propagandize the command and control economy we’ve now begun to experience. As we extract ever larger portions of real GDP to pay for the leviathan in Washington capitalism withers as the cost of ever getting business started and clearing the regulation hurtles becomes increasingly impossible.
            Capitalism ?
            Not hardly !
When an individual ceases to find any just financial rewards for his productivity and ideas his motivation and initiative withers and dies .

          • Yessy Chang

            Well said!

          • DaveK913 .

Not to mention that meager YoY increase in GDP is mostly deficit spending. On top of flawed fiscal and monetary policy, we’ve removed a lot of the P in GDP. It really isn’t about production, it’s about spending.

At one point, manufacturing jobs accounted for around 25% of non-farm jobs. Now it’s around 8% and we have automation and outsourcing to thank for that. The 7,000,000 or so manufacturing jobs that went up in smoke over the last 25 years would come in handy right about now.

          • Yessy Chang

We do not have capitalism with margins. For one the federal reserve manipulates the markets they don’t let competition rule markets. Neither do our business law makers. The American government is very hostile to small businesses and even with the passing of Obama Care and small business owners must pay the health insurance of workers. I know three businesses that went out of business for this. We aloud big business to take our jobs to china, that stabbed America too. We have the most ridiculous welfare system that caters to every third world immigrant that comes here and milks it. Making sure you kill competition so the not so ambitious or bright can procreate then collect for births, baby care, school, food, after school, housing assistance, food stamps, ebt, college etc seems like an idiots plan. That is not fair by any stretch of fairs definition.

Bet that has gotten all the numerology people scratching their heads. There must surely be some significance to the number 8…

One word, and it’s coming soon….Shemitah. Let them mock, they won’t be laughing for long.

Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. James 5:1

Ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that ye do not discern this time? Luke 12:56

sounds like our riches (gold& silver) will be the means by which we are tortured in hell…

These are the wicked wealthy who profess Christian faith and have associated themselves with the church but who’s real god is money. For prostituting the goodness and generosity of God they can anticipate only divine punishment. James points out the folly of hoarding food, expensive clothing or money -all of which is subject to decay, theft, fire or other forms of loss.(From the MacArthur study Bible James 5:1-3).

I am not much into the mystical angle, though do not fault those who see that as a factor. I do believe God’s hand is at work here, though not in a way that we understand except as some kind of karma/payback for our spending what we do not have and other evil acts such as murdering babies and selling their body parts like some kind of Frankenstein monster. The Shemitah stuff and all, well, to each their own.

Michael’s economic reasoning is solid though. Sadly.

  • Getaclue

Thank you Michael for your continued attentiveness to this situation… people need to prepare for the worse and hope for the best.
Many prayers for your family and for our country… dark days are indeed on the horizon.

As I have mentioned before, physical silver is getting hard to find. Now add to that, shortages are showing up on long term storage foods. Since I have seen no great awakening by the public. I have to assume the wealthy must be buying up large quantities again. When the rich start stockpiling long term storage foods. I do not think they expect a short downturn.

  • Understand the signs…yes. Prepare…certainly. But if this is not the End, then buy the dips, companeros. A market rout is our best friend. Energy is getting KILLED right now. Buy up some nice trusts: ROYT is looking great and is on sale. If it does go to hell, it does not matter. If it doesn’t, then position yourself and make some money. How else can we average down? Give your heart to the Lord, but give your ducats to income generating firms.

When this thing hits rock bottom all contracts are null and void. Who will enforce them? There will be every man for himself. Therefore, buying trusts is a wrong move. Better to buy a large farm, lots of ammo, and move the extended family for mutual protection.

QE4 is coming. However, the central planners are losing control. An economic system based on debt, lies, recklessness is unsustainable.

Debt lies and recklessness don’t cost anything and they have an unlimited supply. So better expect a whole lot more of that.

  • Aaron Lilley

I want to thank you very much for all your efforts to warn people and get them ready for what is happening now. I stumbled on your web site about 6 or 7 months ago and since then you’ve made one article pretty much every day – each one I am sure takes a lot of time and effort. Thanks to you I’ve refrained from buying my first home because it’s much better to get into real estate after or at least during a recession when it’s all cheap. Buying property before a recession is a bad move, so right now I continue to rent and my savings are very liquid. I might soon withdraw all my money from the bank and keep it as cash. I’m also very close to deciding to go to the grocery store and buying about one year’s worth of non-perishable groceries (before I have to pay like $100 for a carton of milk!) Please keep up the good work. We’re all in this together!

    • Bill

Very smart. Find some silver coins for your cash.

    • danbax

      • alan

    • Susan

Aaron- stocking up on food is a great idea. However, heed the advice of seasoned preppers: Do NOT buy all your food at one store and do NOT use one of those store club cards to make your purchases. Visit several stores buying a lttle bit of stuff at each store. If you go to store A and buy 54 gallons of water or 356 cans of chili, it looks suspicious. Buy in portions that any average Joe would buy in one shopping trip. Buy 8 or 10 gallons of water and 10 cans of chili, and then move on to store B. You are always being watched. And of course, use only cash to buy this stuff. Happy shopping and be well!

      • Alwaystomorrow

356 cans of chili could be looked at like bomb making supplies. :-)

        • piccadillybabe

Who would have thought too many people hunkered down in a bunker eating chili rations could prove to become a volatile explosive situation. Bean ammo!

    • Isaac

Be careful how you withdraw your money because it could lead to confiscation. Read what Dave Hodges has to say on this matter.

  • durango

An economic collapse would be a blessing from God that few people deserve as it might show them the truth. This is the only reservation I have as to whether a collapse will occur. The truth is withheld from those who God does not wish to save.

  • Dale Graley

Michael, looks like your going to be very busy in the next 60 days! We depend on you – now more than ever!! Thank you

  • Lao Tzu

Still the monthly job numbers are positive. It is not a collapse (as Michael keeps predicting) until the job numbers turn NEGATIVE and north of 100, 000. Even then, I doubt.

    • Bill

The truth is being withheld to protect the guilty!!!

    • Jobs by themselves are NOT a reference of good condition in the Economy.

IF the quality of jobs is reaching the point that you can not meet the end of the month, or you have to pay twice as much the same fruit or veggies than before simply because your job is a McDo or Wallmart kind of job (low wages), then the number of jobs means BS.

Even in the USSR (Under Staline) or worse under Nazi Germany, you had “full” jobs for everyone (and no unemployment benefits, but forced labour) – the numbers were staggering, but at what cost… you received a ticket (no money) in the end to make a huge line for a piece of meat which did not exist on the shelves (in the USSR for instance), or if you were not happy with your “job” at best you ended in a concentration camp, at worse you ended in an extermination camp – in both case you had full employment in those countries (forced labour again, no laziness permitted).

So, monthly increase in the number of jobs has no real meaning… what counts is the quality of those jobs, not the quantity, and on that plane the jobs in the US are of a really and poor quality nowadays.

I will not use the jobs numbers as a reference of good economic condition for sure…

  • So in 2008 on Elul 29 the market dropped 777pts…now in these two days it has dropped 888 in the eighth month. And we pretty much realize this is just the beginning, therefore, how weird will it be if we are back here in Sept (the 9th month) and we see a 1 day crash of 999…not predicting, just imagining how crazy that would be…

  • mister_roboto

Okay, this is going to be very well received around here at all I realize, but if we’re going to broach the subject of months, I’ve noticed that when negative stuff happens in the financial markets, you see a lot of that happening in the astrological months of Virgo and Libra.

  • Brandon

888 is the number of Jesus Christ the Son of God

Thank you for all you have written Michael. I favourited an article about 7 months ago that you wrote about 10 things that are happening right now that point towards a global economic collapse. Almost all of those things have happened or are happening. Thankfully I took what you wrote seriously and have been preparing. This crash on Thursday and Friday is just the birth pains I think. A lot worse to come. And then the mockers will hopefully get it. Gerald Celente said we should start looking out for war talk now…something that the usa and other countries have done previously to distract from major economic issues. It’s sad what we have done, we are all guilty in one way or another. Maranatha. May God strengthen you to continue wha he has called you to do.

It’s a great doom and gloom story but just for the sake of math literacy it would have been nice to make the comparison by percentages also.

Looks like October came early this year:

“For much of this year, the glass was considered half full and now people the last 48 hours are thinking it’s looking more empty,” George Hashbarger, who oversees $224 million as chief executive officer and portfolio manager at Knoxville, Tennessee-based Quintium Advisors LLC, said by phone. “This is more like October than it is buy-the-dip.”

I hope we go below 10,000 it will be a great buying opportunity as we see oil drop to $20/barrel and gasoline drop below $1.50 per gallon. If the economy collapses oil becomes worthless. I doubt very much the big oil powers in the World are going to let market demand wane.

    • fasleflagusa

The big boys in Washington and New York are very glad that these drops happened on Thursday and Friday. The Fed and the Treasury and the Goldman Sachs boys in the White House are working overtime this weekend making sure that the markets will open on a positive uptick. I would not be surprised that from the gate it starts heading up. An indication that the markets are rigged.

  • Mike Mechanic

I never met a man named Mike that I didn’t like. Thank you Michael for keeping people who are paying attention motivated to to finish what we started. I have been getting ready for a few years but everyone around me does not want to hear what I am saying they think I am CRAZY. When I read your articles and the comments I at least know I am not the only CRAZY one. I guess we will see who is right and I will pray for the others. So the ones who are paying attention I leave you with this, Jesus is my Lord and Savior an I Worship him only I will endure to the end for his name. He is the Truth the Way and the Life, and I will store my Treasures in Heaven with God the Father who is Creator of Everything.

    • itscoming

I too am getting tired of people thinking I am crazy. I have given all the warnings that I am going to give. At this point they are on their own and I won’t feel guilty about what happens to them. Watch the markets in China Sunday night. Good luck to all of you and God speed.

    • Steve

You know something. I walk around and breath in the life giving oxygen and look up at the sky, realizing that there is a Creator Who made all of this. Yes His Name is Jesus, Who is now the life giving Spirit, giving life to all those who call upon His Name. By the way He is the Lord of all life, not just the spiritual life, but the economic and financial life. Man thinks He is irrelevant because they have put Him in a religious box. This is the Jesus Who sits at the right hand of the Majesty, having accomplished redemption for us, and holds everything together by the Word of His power. Worship Him for He is God and He is everything. He is not the head of a religion called Christianity. Our little economy and financial world down here is nothing compared to Him. He is in control of the markets, the Dow, the yuan or whatever. He is calling the shots and His number is also 888, not that numbers prove anything, but just to help the doubters perhaps.

  • piccadillybabe

This time around, no 401K to worry about. After the last crash in 2008, many, including myself were caught totally off guard because of the volatility of the market swings back then until it eventually bottomed out miserably low. Truly a shock and awe moment for many Americans. Watching one’s portfolio disintegrate in cyberspace is not something you want to experience more than once in a lifetime. It was during the summer of 2008 Olympic games hosted in China that the markets started to implode. The Chinese “birds nest” is a freakish reminder of those times. Vowed I would never have another 401K tied to employment. I swear employers who provide them, are making $$$ off of them. Just like they make $$$ providing their employees with “health savings accounts,”
    HSAs, another scam.
Thanks, Michael, for providing this daily “wakeup call” to your readership.

How can christian conservatives not love Bernie Sanders-he is like Jesus of Nazareth going into the temple and overturning the money changers tables. He wants to tax wall street to fund free college education? whats not to like about that? There are many other examples. Remember the parable of the rich man and Lazarus…

I am thinking Bernie Sanders is really Jesus coming back to make our country great again by banishing the Satan conservatives who only idolize the rich and have their minds blinded by keeping to vote against their economic self interests.

Judas Iscariot (the one who betrayed Jesus for money) attempted to chastise Jesus when he allowed Mary to use the perfumed oil to cleanse his feet and not sell it to give money to the poor (Judas said this not because he cared for the poor, but because he wanted to steal the money for himself). Jesus said “the poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.” Two things can be understood by this 1. Jesus was NOT a socialist, communist or collectivist and 2. Simply giving something away will never resolve poverty or the sinful nature of man.

“I sincerely hope that global financial markets will stabilize for at
least a couple of weeks. But there is absolutely no guarantee that will
    happen.”

I don’t believe you “hope” any such thing. How could you “hope” something for which “hope” has no meaning. You know this. You also know that even if your “hopes” come true, the market will do what the market will do despite what anyone says, does or “hopes”.

Therefore what is it you’re REALLY hoping? That the market just goes right back up and goes on and on and on, up and up and up… forever?

And that, despite the fact that this is an “economic collapse” blog where the market must obviously go down with the economy, How could you be possibly “hoping” against your own predictions?

No, Michael, you don’t “hope” for any such thing as you say. It just sounds good and glib to say you “hope” for this-and -that. Isn’t that what is behind all the tear-jerking… the desire to look good among your readers? You have a way with words and you tweak them to nudge up sentimental codswallop among your followers. It’s so unnecessary and you lose SO MUCH POWER in so-doing.

As long as they keep spending away as if everything is wonderful (la-de-da) than everything will be fine. Until it is isn’t…

You have to listen the pearls of wisdom and truth that leak out from the NWO/Left. Lindsay G just recently stated there is no money for the 80 million retirees in the next 20 years. As we know, perhaps the greatest threat to planet Earth is Debt. Imagine a steel enforced roof with 60″ of snow/ice. Even the strongest roof will eventually collapse. Monetizing your own debt is a clear sign of death. Did you ever notice a credit card company will not allow you to transfer your debt by opening a second credit card with the same credit card company. Yes, WE live by the basic rules of finance, but the globalist pigs in the star chamber ignore the basic rules of finance. Their egos cloud their brains. We print/monetize $2 billion/day. You can only get away with that for so long. The NWO/Globalist Financial wizard, Larry Kudlow this morning tried to blame the stock market “sell-off” on Donald Trump. He said the market is reacting to DT’s anti “pro growth” aka globalist policies. HEY LARR, you never seem to mention the Quad of mortgage derivatives the “Wall” casinos everyday. You like all NWO globalists are fakes, phonies, frauds and a hypocrites. You also never seem to mention the $125 of unfunded long-term obligations that devour the USA everyday. You talk so little about debt nor the 93 million that have left the work force. Mr. Bear Stearns, it is so much easier work to blame “The Donald”. We have unmasked you NWO globalist charlatans. The Donald has stepped out of the comfort of earning $400 million/year and is sober enough to realize, all the “tea in China” will do him absolutely no good if planet Earth collapses, Morally, Socially, Geo-politically and Financially. Trump/Cruz/Cruz/Trump. May God give us One More Chance. Christi Fidelis !

Economic collapse will mean all the people in power and privilege will no longer have power and privilege. I guarentee you the very last thing the people in power want is to lose their privileges.

    • Nemnor

TtT Engine, Donald Trump has “stepped out of the comfort of earning $400 million/yer” because (I suspect) it is very clear to him that US Capitalism (and in fact, world-wide Capitalism) is on a (general) continuous decline.

Similar to Reagan and Thatcher (in their days), The Donald believes he can do something to help “save (free market) Capitalism” (even from itself). Of course, there were/are those of us who knew the real reason(s) Capitalism was/is decayed and decaying. And knew that there was nothing Reagan and Thatcher can do to prevent the (general) continuous decline of world-wide Capitalism.

Today (August 2015), I now declare that I really WISH for Donald Trump (who is one of the few wealthy people I truly admire (in some ways)) to win the WH. This is because I know that Trump will ultimately FAIL to save/revive US Capitalism. Not because Trump is not a capable Leader, and not because Trump might not get all the support/help he needs to save/revive Capitalism (they hope), but because the main issue facing decadent Capitalism (i.e. the issue of general over-production) is insoluble within Capitalism – by economic means alone.

The only real (permanent) solution for the Human Race is to dismantle Capitalism. Otherwise, the future will surely be (eventually) massive world-wide poverty and massive world-wide destruction, through (world) wars, environmental collapse and economic collapse, as the Ruling Class (“the 1%”) look pass the massive destruction and the loss of millions (even billions?) of lives, to a “reconstruction boom” (should anyone survive at all), to “save Capitalism” (they hope) and then start a new cycle of EVIL.

You would be the same as the people that think stricter gun laws reduce crime. Bad people murder, not guns. If we had a genuine Judaio-Christian value system backing Capitalism, we would be in good condition. Check your world history on the death toll attributed to Socialism/Marxism/Communism. Capitalism lifts people out of poverty. Big Government, like the USA, condemns people to poverty [ 60 million abortions,50 million on food stamps,93 million unemployed]. Look at the decay of our inner cities since “The Great Society” of LBJ. Thanks for your response. Christi Fidelis !

It’s actually a fun week when the billionaires take one to the chin!

“The week’s largest setback in dollar terms was experienced by Buffett, who saw his fortune drop by $3.6 billion as Berkshire Hathaway Inc. slipped more than 5 percent. The investor is the world’s third-wealthiest person, with a fortune of $63.4 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The slump in oil, which had its longest weekly losing streak since 1986 amid signs of an extended supply glut, contributed to $15.2 billion in losses for the world’s wealthiest energy billionaires. Continental Resources Inc. Chairman Harold Hamm saw $895 million, or 9 percent of his net worth, vanish this week.”

“Buy and Hold” is a paradigm based on the old rules, one where we actually had Price Discovery in the markets, and markets were actually driven by real actual economic growth.

Today, we have manipulated and pumped stocks at insane and wild highs, and most “investors” are Central Bank Teat suckers (calling them gamblers is an insult to gamblers).

Normalcy bias still rules most, but when cold reality sets in, the real panic will be historic and frightening.

  • Alexander Shekhtman

I would be very pleased if the Dow crashes around Rosh Hashana by 10,000 points. The whole market needs a reset to what the stocks are really worth. Also, all the big bankers and CEOs of investment firms need to be tried and imprisoned for grand larceny, embezzlement, and in some cases murder (when they ‘get rid of’ whistleblowers).

  • Clay Griffin

This article is somewhat deceptive. The largest U.S. stock market crash occurred in October of 1987. Point losses mean little. It’s the PERCENTAGE that matters.

  • cathybrock

The number 8 means new beginning, what is about to be birthed?

  • Nemnor

The (significant) stock market crashes are really symptoms of an on-going crisis facing the decadent world-wide Capitalist economic system.

    • Bill

The law of nature says the strong and fit survive, just like true capitalism without manipulation. Welfare that breaks the back of the middle class while the elite skim more cream is manipulated capitalism.

      • Nemnor

‘Bill’ and ‘G21′, any form of (true) Capitalism (“free market” or not) will always reach a “dead end” (eventually), as there is no way to avoid the issue of (eventual) over-production which would naturally and inevitably come about in Capitalism, because growing (increasing) the Capital base, is the PRIMARY and natural objective of the Capitalists (and especially so with (true) “free market” capitalism). (right?)

Any form of (artificial) regulation to restrict the growth/increase of Capital base is, well… not the “free market” Capitalism you imagine. However, even “true” Capitalism (in any form) was always ‘destined’ to reach a stage of general over-production because the World’s resources and markets are virtually and practically LIMITED.

        • G21

You are totally unable to imagine free-market capitalism. “Eventual over-production” is a made-up myth which would never exist in a free market.

The system which is doomed from inception is socialism.

          • Marco

Just like how crude oil isn’t being over-produced right now?

          • G21

            Marco –

You’re exactly right – crude oil is being over-produced right now.
            – Why? Because oil consumption is down heavily.
            – Why is oil consumption down heavily? Because we don’t have free-market capitalism.
            – Why don’t we have free-market capitalism? Because of leftist/socialist economic policies.
            – Leftist/socialist economic policies damage the economy and enslave free people.

Marco, thank you for making my point for me – free-market capitalism is the answer for the ills we see now in the world’s economies.

          • Marco

Alright well since we are once again dealing in the world of fantasy and irrationality, I’m not going to argue with you except to point out that you are now changing your argument from the original “over-production is a myth” argument.

        • GSOB

          You are amazingly stupid.

Guys, I’m just your below-average Joe next door. Please take my opinion as nothing more than just your pinch of salt. With that being said, Uncle Sam’s ship he named “SS Capitalism” has been hijacked by a bunch of dangerous pirates from a ship called “SS Feds” and unfortunately, these pirates are not looking out for the passenger’s best interest onboard the SS Capitalism. If we don’t take it upon ourselves to put up a fight against these pirates and take our ship back while we still can, we will all perish when these pirates are done looting our gold, our dignity, our future, and our children’s future.

After initially dropping over 1000 points on Monday the Dow Jones has recovered around 800 points since! Is this really possible without extreme market intervention from some very big players? AUDIT THE FED.
How long can they keep this charade going?

    • Itanimullikcuf

Chinese are doing exactly the same but they stocks are absolutely tanking. And remember FED is a private Bank owned by Rotschilds. What happens is depending what Global Elite wants. If they want global economic collapse we will have this. The rich are already packing their belongings since at least 5 years, moving to remote places (New Zealand, rural Canada, Switzerland etc) or even fallout shelters renovated into condominiums.

Stock market turmoil… the gift that keeps on giving!

The Dow Jones opened today more than 1,000 points down. It has now recovered to about 200 points down as I type this. Expect such wild swings to continue, at least for the next few days. If only China had not devalued their currency… ugh, I hate when countries do that! (The current troubles go far beyond just China, of course.)

    • Itanimullikcuf

Correct this. Dow is now 588 (3.58%) points in red, and below 16000 mark. Few more days of this carnage and Michael will start to think about closing his blog. Job done!

  • GSOB

“Why would a book truly from God be overly redundant in permitting rape, yet relatively reticent on matters of human compassion and love?”

1.) The Quran is not God breathed scripture.

    2.) Acts 17:19 > 31

And they took him to Mars’ Hill, saying, Will you make clear to us what is this new teaching of yours? For you seem to us to say strange things, and we have a desire to get the sense of them.
(Now all the Athenians and the men from other lands who come there were giving all their time to talking or hearing of anything new.)

And Paul got to his feet on Mars’ Hill and said, O men of Athens, I see that you are overmuch given to fear of the gods.

For when I came by, I was looking at the things to which you give worship, and I saw an altar with this writing on it, TO THE GOD OF WHOM THERE IS NO KNOWLEDGE. Now, what you, without knowledge, give worship to, I make clear to you.

    The God who made the earth and everything in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, is not housed in buildings made with hands;
    And he is not dependent on the work of men’s hands, as if he had need of anything, for he himself gives to all life and breath and all things;

And he has made of one blood all the nations of men living on all the face of the earth, ordering their times and the limits of their lands,

So that they might make search for God, in order, if possible, to get knowledge of him and make discovery of him, though he is not far from every one of us:

For in him we have life and motion and existence; as certain of your verse writers have said, For we are his offspring.

If then we are the offspring of God, it is not right for us to have the idea that God is like gold or silver or stone, formed by the art or design of man.

Those times when men had no knowledge were overlooked by God; but now he gives orders to all men in every place to undergo a change of heart:

Because a day has been fixed in which all the world will be judged in righteousness by the man who has been marked out by him for this work; of which he has given a sign to all men by giving him back from the dead.

In the system of gematria, where every Hebrew letter has a numerical value, the numerical value of the word Mashiach
(Messiah) is 358. On Thursday, August 20, the US stock market fell 358 points. The next day, Friday, August 21, the US stock market fell another 530 points. Together, 530 and 358 equals 888. oh…and it got worse today…

  • Leo D.

Try not to associate a number with a group of numbers and relate the outcome to prophecy. Use your time more wisely.

The stock market is a wealthy man’s “pinball” machine. This is an analogy for the low-incomers to remember.

In other words,,, don’t play the stock market unless you are wealthy. So if the market crashes,,,, and you loose one million dollars,,,,, you don’t have to worry because you have nine million dollars elsewhere.

If I go and buy ten dollars in lottery tickets and don’t win. I can clearly answer where I lost my ten dollars and where it went. Correct? Yes.

If I loose ten thousand dollars in the stock market where does it go and to who? No one can answer it other than speculation. It goes somewhere such as my ten dollars went somewhere.

This leads me to warn “low income” investors, not “small investors” there is a major difference between low income investors and small investors. Again not to put your money into the stock market.

The very super wealthy investors benefit from the low income investors.

This is the reason why the stock market will significantly drop and drop well below the low income investors initial investment worth.

The market system is designed this way in modern times to “suck up” that money for a wealthy few.

How does all this relate to a prophetic warning? A compilation of Heaven’s warnings “approved by an authority” during the last century or so warns of a Chastisement. This Chastisement is going to be a “world wide event” and as the moments of the Chastisement occur so will a lot of humans loose everything they have.

This is Heavens extreme method of dealing with a world “lost in sin”. Heaven’s Saints are always interceding for us and saying “give them more time” don’t punish our children.

But its got to give ,,,, sooner than later. During the last couple of decades we have seen tsunamis, earthquakes, especially in Japan. The comet streaking over Russia.

A comet could be what is to come. A big comet all of a sudden is heading towards Earth. As it gets closer,,,, well we all know what panic there would be in the stock market, and everywhere.

Or a series of several volcanoes or cauldrons exploding at the same time frame would cause a lot.

As is: And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
