Welcome To Hell: The Giant Fort McMurray Fire Is The Worst Blaze In Canadian History

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Fort McMurray Fire - Photo by DarrenRDThe gigantic wildfire that has forced the evacuation of the entire city of Fort McMurray in northern Alberta has been nicknamed “the Beast“, and mainstream news reports are telling us that it is now approximately 25 percent larger than New York City.  88,000 people have already been forced out of their homes, at least 1,600 buildings have been destroyed, and smoke from the fire has been spotted as far away as Iowa.  To say that this is a “disaster” is a massive understatement.  Northern Alberta is “tinder dry” right now, and authorities say that high winds could result in the size of the fire doubling by the end of the weekend.  One-fourth of Canada’s oil output has already been shut down, and the edge of the fire is now getting very close to the neighboring province of Saskatchewan.  This is already the most expensive natural disaster in the history of Canada, and officials fully expect to be fighting this blaze for months to come.

At this point, only rain is going to stop this fire.  Canadian authorities insist that they are not going to be able to defeat this raging inferno no matter how many resources they throw at it.  The best that they can hope for is to try to steer it away from heavily populated areas until the rain comes.

Nobody knows precisely how this tragedy is going to end, but everyone agrees that it is going to last for quite some time.  According to the Washington Post, this fire has the potential to keep on burning “for months”…

The images are ones of devastation — scorched homes, virtually whole neighborhoods burned to the ground. And Canadian officials say they expect to fight the massive wildfire that has destroyed large parts of Alberta’s oil sands town for months.

There’s fear the growing wildfire could double in size and reach a major oil sands mine and even the neighboring province of Saskatchewan.

I have relatives that live up in Alberta, and this is the biggest thing to hit that part of the world in many, many years.

This massive fire is making headlines all over the planet, and some of the video footage that is emerging is so shocking that it can be hard to believe.  Some of the terms being used to describe the devastation are “hell”, “the end of the world” and “Armageddon”

“It was something like Armageddon,” said Morgan Elliott, who traveled with his fiancee, Cara Kennedy, and their baby, Abigail. “Everything was burnt, houses gone. Leaving the city, it was like a scene out of a movie. It reminded me of the TV show ‘The Walking Dead’ where you’re going on the highway, and there’s just abandoned vehicles everywhere; hundreds of cars, just abandoned vehicles.”

In this YouTube video, you can watch vehicles attempt to escape Fort McMurray as hot embers from towering flames just a few feet away rain down on them.  What would you do in this kind of situation?…

The amount of resources that has been committed to fighting this fire has been unprecedented, and yet it just continues to rage wildly out of control.  The following comes from CNN

The blaze is moving in a northeast direction and could reach the border with Saskatchewan by the end of Saturday, Alberta Premier Rachel Notley said.

The response has been massive. Notley said more than 500 firefighters are battling the blaze around Fort McMurray, with the help of 15 helicopters and 14 air tankers. More than 1,400 firefighters and 133 helicopters are fighting blazes across the province.

Unfortunately, a lot of Americans simply are not going to care what is happening up in Alberta because it is in Canada.

But let us not forget that 2015 was the worst year for wildfires in all of U.S. history.  Last year more acres burned in the United States than we had ever seen before, and 2016 is already shaping up to be another very bad year.

In fact, according to the National Interagency Fire Center we are already more than a million acres ahead of the pace that was set last year.

I just checked the U.S. Drought Monitor, and much of the western third of the country is still extremely dry.  Conditions are certainly ripe for another horrible wildfire season, and so let us pray for lots of rain between right now and the end of the summer.

Because all we have to do to see what a worst case scenario looks like is to watch what is going on in Fort McMurray right now.

To me, this is the closest thing that we have seen to “hell on Earth” in a very long time…

  • Joe Trevors

Fire is an apocalyptic symbol. It is not only the fire you are describing in Canada but fear of fire that relates to God’s judgment to our nation & world for increasingly rebelling against the Word of God. Verse 10 from chapter 3 of 2 Peter says (NRSV): “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a loud noise, and the elements will be dissolved with fire, and the earth and everything that is done on it will be disclosed.”
Politically in the United States a metaphorical fire is raging. Does it not seem that there is an increasing polarization of people in expressing their opinions about who to support or who not to support? People are revealing more about what they really believe or do not believe?
Thank you for your messages & continuing to try to speak the truth. Peace & Blessings

There were Trolls in Biblical times as well. They followed Jesus around and mocked him.
There is nothing new under the sun.

In some countries during summer that is a daily basis….Where i grow up…every year theres always news about firemans who died in the flames ….you could see the flames at night from 20 km of distance or more from the mountain…

    • tribtruth

So Alberta prepper food is now literally toast. The futility of food prepping for Hell Fire and/or the Tribulation should be lost on no one.

      • Steeve Girard

Only the Boreal Forest burns this way, not the wheat fields.

        • greyprepper

You speak the truth. Forests need to be tended too, they are not a Pocahontas (spelling??) Utopia. That’s why I’ve never had patience for the pseudogreenie bleeding hearts that won’t allow the state forestry depts do their jobs; logging, mitigating, and otherwise thinning out the forests (yes Colorado, I’m talking to you). This arborist gives you an upvote!

          • Steeve Girard

That does not mean of course clear cutting areas, just removing the old trees and leave enough for reproduction.

          • greyprepper

            Precisely. Manage, not obliterate.

          • Steeve Girard

The pseudo-greens are only right about one type of forest: Rain Forests, logging is damaging for them. But not for stable soiled dry forests.

      • Joe Trevors

I gave the incorrect Bible passage. I meant that judgment will no longer occur by water as it did in the time of Noah. In the End Times judgment will be by fire: I think this is referred to in 2 Peter, chapter 3, verses 5-7.

        • SunnyFlaSnotress

do you think anyone really would have noticed

          • Ricardo

Well you did you bonehead. I think you are the dumbest person I have ever come across on an internet chatroom.

    • Richard O. Mann

But, this is not the Day of the Lord. This is a run away fire due to dry conditions, due to lack of rain. You can crank this into the events leading up to the Day of the Lord if you wish, but this is not it.

      • Steeve Girard

Dryness or lack of rain are not required for this type of fire, only carbon density is sufficient to start it.

        • SunnyFlaSnotress

No, Joe is right, god sent fire to Canada as a judgement. /s

          • Ricardo

But you don’t believe in god so how can you believe his god sent a judgement.

          • SunnyFlaSnotress

            /s stands for sarcasm

      • Joe Trevors

Richard, thank you for your post. I had the same thought you expressed after I posted the passage from 2 Peter. It is not the Day of the Lord. The passage I should have quoted is from Revelation, chapter 13, verse 13. It is about an event that has already occurred, I believe. It is about the beast that (NRSV) “performs great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of all.” This occurred 70+ years ago when the ATOMIC bomb was developed. The scientists used biblical imagery to describe it including the word “Trinity”. It was shown on TV constantly in the early 1950s for all the world to see.

        • Guest

This is not what you are speaking of. Something cataclysmic from space will cause the upheaval. That’s where Wormwood comes from, it will be brought in with whatever large mass will (is?) moving in. Check out Joel 2 and Luke 21, is it, again. The day of Yah comes AFTER the events you mention. Whatever is coming is the sign that we are looking for.

          • Joe Trevors

To Guest: I think that is another occurrence. A large mass sounds different from fire. You might be referring to a comet, which is another possibility. In Revelation 13, 13 it is developed by the beast which leads the world astray by its wonders & forces the world to make an image of it. Don’t you think that is a possible interpretation?

          • Guest

I think it relates to Project BlueBeam. Also have you heard of the Internet of Things?

      • Joe Trevors

It is the FIRE from NUCLEAR WEAPONS that all the world seems to fear.

      • Ian MacLeod

Consider too, however, that a lot of this weird weather is undoubtedly affected if not caused by gigatons of nanoaluminum and other nano- and microparticulates being dumped into the atmosphere – and thus the waters as well: oceans, lakes and streams – and so now saturates the food supply as well. This is in ADDITION to the usual pollution, too. Then there’s the energetic meddling and all the rest. If the “elites” behind it all are determined to sterilize the planet, they’ve made a good, strong start at it. Even if nothing more was to happen, just what’s already been done will take centuries at least to get cleaned up (by Nature I mean), and some losses are permanent. For that matter, some additions may as well be.

There really is a lot of Strange (cap intended) going around lately, and it’s getting worse. A nuke intended to create an EMP will still ALSO create a lot of gamma radioactive particles that can travel wherever the wind takes it. Nuclear power plants are leaky at best, and too damned hazardous to exist at ALL in my opinion. Then the government’s mad scientists have been creating (NOT breeding, but DNA splicing) all sorts of interesting diseases, some of those being nanobots, some organic. Maybe some are both – bionic bugs. With the insane super-rich at the wheel(s) things are going downhill faster all the time. Guess where WE’RE sitting, folks? I mean aside from at the crossroads of energy weapons, heavy metal poisoning throughout the atmosphere, water and soils (and foods), massive RF bombardment, carcinogenic chemicals added to GMO “foods”, also carcinogenic… The list(s) just goes on and on. And fires like this are not just predictable, they’re INEVITABLE. Unless they’re mitigated before they happen. Why was this one not?

If you’ve ever looked down the barrel of a loaded gun, that’s what living in this “civilization” feels like, more and more. So whose finger is on the trigger, anyway..?

    • Plextt Plextt

stfu already! Ignorance belongs in church=) Try for once in your freaking life to think logically.

Wow, that’s sad. Why such hatred for our friends to the North?

Maybe that fire that you are cheering on to burn baby burn will visit your area, and maybe a Canadian will make the same comments to you.

          • Mr. Cipher

Except my house is protected by the shield of God….unlike Canada.

    • Guest

I feel sorry for you. You have a dark, bitter heart. There are many posters on this board from Canada. I am a Canadian. I have wept for what is going on in your country. I enjoyed visiting when I could. I have found memories visiting my relatives in Maine, eating red hot dogs in flat-sided buns (wouldn’t eat them now, but they were delish back then when I didn’t know any better). Those paper birch of New England are still my favourite trees. I was intoxicated by the smell of the sweet grass while crossing the border into Montana at sunrise while crossing from Alberta. I was breathtaken by the beauty of the red rocks at Gallup, New Mexico, whose colour was greatly enhanced by the dark, dark sky just before a snowstorm. The otherworldly landscape of Utah caused me to feel that perhaps I was somehow transported to another planet. I fell in love with the wide, open expanse that is the American southwest. I know for sure I left a part of my heart there.

The people I met were strong, sure of themselves and would give their shirt off their back for anyone. I felt their pain as some shared how they felt betrayed by their government from 9/11 on. I watched in horror and grief as your nation was being stripped of its freedoms and security the last time I was there, going back to Canada from a brief in Denver, waiting to board a plane at the airport there. I knew then and there the U.S. was in serious trouble. This was a long term plan, kicked into high gear.

Sir, you can say whatever you want. But please be advised that you have revealed your character (or lack thereof) many times on this board. My prayer for you is that you somehow find it in yourself to forgive others and soften your heart.

      • SunnyFlaSnotress

Are you the anonymous creep who made that post about me the other day?

        • Guest

Nope. That was another guest. I appreciate you asking instead of assuming. If others took the time to enquire instead of assume, the world would be a better, happier place. ;-).

Mr Cipher is a troll idiot. The ultimate form of justice will be if his house burns down, and then no one will care.

A taste of his own medicine is the only thing that may wake him up.

“Thoughts and prayers” pffft. Break out your check book and make a donation. Or grab a shovel and head North.
          That’s what I thought. Troll.

        • Guest

Thanks. I think the best kind of prayers needed right now is that this will start to wake people up. As much as it pains me to see this happen, it had to.

  • Taos61

Maybe God is telling us to stop burning fossil fuels that “could” change weather patterns that cause normally wet places into tinderboxes.

Michael, why have you allowed the troll known as MrCipher to leave his hateful and and wicked comments on this site? I know you read the comments, yet most most of his comments remain. It’s sad to see how the comments section of this site has degenerated.

The Americans will cry when they do not get their Canadian oil because the town where the workers lived burned.

          • Richard O. Mann

I was wondering if this fire may have been set the the Saudis to help make the price of oil go up.

          • Steeve Girard

No, it’s an natural phenomenon that occurs every 100+ years. As carbon density becomes super-critical.

          • Guest

Not the Saudis, they are the ones keeping it down. The conditions were right on many fronts for this to happen.

It started as a small fire. Alberta is a rather gusty province. It doesn’t take much for a small fire to grow into a large one. That being said, this one is a bit suspiscious for a number of reasons. Although Alberta has a history of catastrophic forest fires, the most recent one occurring in 2011. That one nearly destroyed the town of Slave Lake. Bearing that in mind, the newly “elected” NDP government cut the forestfire fighting budget. During one of the most, if not the strongest, El Niño on record, no less. Every El Niño brings hot, dry conditions for Alberta. It’s a given there are going to be more than normal fires. The NDP platform is the LEAP Manifesto. It is based on Chairman Mao’s Great Leap Forward. The NDP wants to radically and fundamentally change Canada. All the other provinces that “elected” an NDP government have recently rid of them, win the exception of Alberta. They want to greatly decrease the oil and gas sector. The oil and gas sector is Alberta’s most productive and lucrative. Alberta is also Canada’s economic powerhouse. These fires are occurring in a sensitive area for Alberta’s economy. There is much more to this story, it includes the federal government and the UN, too.

Look, I understand that Canada doesn’t mean much to the U.S., but take a good hard look at what is going on here. This is what the PTB want to do globally. Canada may very well be the canary in the coal mine.

  • DJohn1

The Canadians are going to have to isolate the fire by setting up a dead zone in which nothing can burn. That can be done by chemical means or by physical means. Will it work? Not sure. Depends on how high the temperatures inside the forest fire have gotten and how wide the fire has gotten. And how high the winds are.
This is going to be expensive, very expensive. But it might be a whole lot less expensive than replacing everyone’s houses.
If they intend to contain it with chemicals then they need to get a whole lot of crop dusters in motion fast.
Next they need a highway. Hopefully one with at least four lanes wide. Use that as a barrier if possible. I suggest the barrier is going to have to be very wide if it will work at all. Meaning a controlled backfire which will be very dangerous if possible at all.
There are engineers out there that know how to do this.
The real problem for us is that forests do not respect borders. Meaning they could easily cross over and make the fire part of our problem as well.
After all is done, those Canadians still need housing if their houses have burned to the ground.
Which means the insurance industry is in a very big bind covering the damage they have insured against.

    • Guest

You don’t understand. This might be very well be an inside job. Trust me, if our government wanted to put out that fire, they could have done so, way before it became such a problem. The last catastrophic fire, in 2011, was caused by arson. Unfortunately, or more likely, conveniently, the arsonist has yet to be apprehended. The arsonist knew exactly what he/she was doing.

There have been too many weird events in Alberta over the past few years to think it is merely coincidental.

      Please read my post above.

      • Guest

Sorry, the government made an excuse not to get a handle on the fire. If it really wanted to, it could have done so.

        • scottsacco

You shouldn’t apologize for completely agreeing with a post, and nearly quoting it in return.

          • Guest

It was my own post. I apologized for making a mistake. Otherwise, you are quite right!

    • Steeve Girard

Even then the taiga can get so old, that the ground itself can catch on fire.
      .
Humans were set on the this earth as an apex predator and were given the intelligence to regulate their surroundings to make it thrive. Not to follow “wieners” like “God” and make wars in it’s name, for the benefit of a minority or dead prophets.

    • greyprepper

Well then, it’s settled. We must all run across the border and crop dust the Canadians. As a prepper, I have several canned beans that I will gladly donate to the cause.

  • jakartaman

I feel really bad for the Canadians.
Pray that they can get this under control and can stay safe
For those posing immature comments – get a life

    • Mr. Cipher

Your “feelings” and prayers ain’t gonna help the Canadian. Send a check or money order. Donate to the Fire department otherwise your just blowing hot air.

      • Guest

What you have said bears some truth (showing empathy and saying prayers will help, as it demonstrates concern and compassion), but in light of your previous words, they lack any weight.

  • Steeve Girard

This is what Nature’s revenge looks like!
    .
They build a big city and industries without knowing where you actually live. They deserved their fate.
    .
Building in the middle of the taiga (Boreal Forest) comes with one big responsibility: carbon control. Yes carbon control, some of those forest are so old and unexploited that their carbon content reached their natural flammable level. All it took to light it up, is the spark: either created by man, animal or nature. Those forest can become so carbon dense, that the ground itself can burn. If they wanted human civilization living over there, they have to cut a safety corridor around the habitation zone, and replant with young plants to remove the carbon from the ground, then cut again and replant every 50 to 75 years. The forest around Fort McMurray had an age of around 125 years since their last natural burning or take down for logging. It was a powder keg.

    • Guest

This just adds to the hmmmmm…… Just like when nuclear reactors are built on top of fault lines and/or near tsunami risks, then the inevitable happens.

      • Steeve Girard

        Yes exactly.

    • Shane

      Oh brother……..

    • Priszilla

The carbon comes from the air. Not the ground.

      • Steeve Girard

Down vote for such a stupid thought. Better go back to school!

        • Priszilla

          Ever heard of photosynthesis?

          • Steeve Girard

Photosynthesis only turn carbonic acids into pentoses and hexoses, what you fail to know is that those sugars are transported into the roots and body of the plant, they pile up there. When the plant dies, the bacteria and fungus turn it into carbon soil compounds. Also the plant can be predated while it is alive by fungus and bacteria, taking it’s sugars into their structures and pump them into the ground as carbon compounds.
            .
            Now go back to school!

          • Priszilla

Bacteria and fungi turn organic material into anorganic material that can be taken up by plants.
The cellulose of plants is turned by bacteria (e.g. in your gut) into CO2 and CH4.

But they can’t change everything. Part is accumulated, first as peat, then as coal after some million years. And also oil and gas.

That is then dug up by humans and the carbons and hydrocarbons burned to create CO2 and water.

            No school today. It’s weekend.

    • H_mmm

Yup yer right, just like New Orleans deserved Katrina, Florida deserved Andrew, San Francisco deserved the 1906 quake, or the twister that hit Joplin, Missouri in 2011 or the 1927 Mississippi flood and I could list another 1,000 weather related disasters that have killed, injured and wiped out communities throughout the USA over the last 200 years.

How dare people live in coastal cities or in earthquake zones or next to a riverbank or in a known tornado zone.

That’s right they all deserve what they get.

      F==king moron.

    • Dawn Booth

Wow! You’re for real? The lives lost… The homes gone… and thousands of our residents still displaced.

I’ve been a resident for almost nine years, working as a journalist and actively involved in the non-profit sector.

I’ve met the most intelligent and selfless people living in Fort McMurray and its why I will go back and continue raising my three small children there.

To give a thorough explanation of how we could have sooner protected ourselves from Canada’s worst tragedy and add in that we “deserved our fate”… Hear me loud and clear, you’re a disgusting human being for saying so.

  • Kim

Terrible fire. It’s been so dry and unusually warm in the Pacific Northwest most of April and May, too.

    • Steeve Girard

It only added to the problem. It would have burned anyways someday.

  • Richard O. Mann

Dry conditions will continue and the fires will burn until the rain comes or the fires run out of fuel. Just another subject to keep you eyes on as the year progresses.

    • Steeve Girard

At the size it is, only a wide river or a zone poor with carbon density can choke that fire.

      • Guest

From what I gather, it jumped a river. One will be hard pressed to find a wide river right now, considering how dry things are.

        • Guest

Ps, aren’t you living in Canada? Or do I have you misplaced?

  • Richard O. Mann

THE MAJOR PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE IS: IF IT DOESN’T “HAPPEN” TO ME WHY SHOULD I “CARE”!
WHAT A “SORRY” ATTITUDE TO HAVE!

    • Mr. Cipher

Have you sent a donation or is “Carring” enough?

      • Guest

Yes, caring is enough, for some it’s all one can do, and it’s appreciated. Sincerely, from a Canadian. By the way, what have you donated, besides insults?

Mr. Cipher, after all the hateful, bigoted comments you have made, to which you are entitled, you are NOT ENTITLED to speak on OUR behalf.

If anyone, hateful, supportive, whatever, is allowed to make comments regarding what constitutes caring, supporting, etc. enough in Alberta’s, all of Canada’s time of need right now, it’s we Canadians ourselves, more specifically, the Albertans.

        • Mr. Cipher

Well, since I have been banned from Canada,
(a misdemeanor charge came up from 25 years ago while triying to cross the Canadian border) your border agents beat the crap out of me. So, yes, I will donate. I will stand on the border of North Dakota and urinate up North to show I care.

          • ALWAYSTOMORROW

You are still blogging so in my opinion the Canadian border agents did not beat you hard enough or long enough.

          • Mr. Cipher

ALWALSATURD aren’tcha. Should have flushed you his morning.

          • Guest

The fact you have a criminal charge, coupled with your piss poor attitude, shows things haven’t changed much. Typical American “victim mentality”. “Poor me…I broke law, can’t get into another country, they beat me(not enough), and now I’m gonna whine about it like a 4 year old”…comical to say the least!
I’m sure Canada doesn’t need your sympathy. Apparently they didn’t need your company either! but hey feel free to try again, I’m sure the border guards, who randomly beat a@@@@@es apparently, would love another chance to beat 1 piece of sense into you. You’re a disgrace to Americans everywhere!

          • Mr. Cipher

          • SunnyFlaSnotress

Mr.Cipher.. how many countries have you been banned from?
Damn! Canadians beat the crap out of Mr.Cipher? What did you do?

          • Guest

This very strange. I have NEVER heard of such a thing done by border guards. They might give a person grief, but not lay a beating. However, it has happened by the RCMP.

          • Guest

I can not comment on the incident, since obviously I was not there, but would suggest that you forgive (as in a lot and often), because it’s obviously affecting you. Honestly, it’s not worth losing your eternal life over.

          • Mr. Cipher

If you come across like you do on this blog in real life than I’m sure you’re used to the beatings. Thanks for sharing .maybe there is a god.

          • Mr. Cipher

There is a God. He said “vengeance is mine” and set fire to that evil land. Hopefully the border patrol agents house is a pile of ash.

Our Bible study class has been studying the book of Exodus and all through the narrative about the plagues it is saying over and over, “There has never been seen such a disaster in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation; never before, nor ever will be again.” It seems that in every news cast about a flood or a fire lately, the local folks are saying, “We have never had anything like this before.” Maybe we should start getting the hint that something is happening here on a catastrophic scale. “Against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment, says the Lord.” Maybe “our gods” are starting to be judged.

    • Guest

Alberta had its worst flood in its history in 2013. Yes I agree with you. I have been warning family.

    • watchmannonthewall

They have been being judged and more so lately. Whatever has been will be. if the first Exodus resulted in all fo the false gods being shown to be false, why not the same thing happening prior to the second Exodus?
What gods do Americans worship? Politicians, sports figures, pastors/clergy, wealthy busnessmen, the dollar, education, Hollywood celebs, children, women, republicans, democrats, the earth, animals, trees, stars… all kinds of people who have been shown to have feet of clay over the past few years, and strange objects and things.
What don’t americans worship? The one true God! For Him a lot of lip service but after Sunday morning church America goes home, if it bothered to go to church, and does its own thing for the rest of the week. When it is all done, He will still be standing!

GOD is not a monster? Try to find that Youtube video of the little toddler girl in China being run over by a van. If it wasn’t God’s Will, then it could never happen….assuming there is a “God”.

      • Rhino Horns

The return of the nation of Israel, and the Lord’s increasing displeasure (historically bad weather, as in Houston, Texas recently)with those nations who try to take away God given land from the Jewish people (Genesis 15:18), is proof that He is VERY REAL. No one knows the exact reason why the Lord causes evil upon children, but we do know that He does cause evil in general to humble us (Ecclesiastes 1:13), as we are all naturally carnal minded, and that carnal mind must, and will, be dealt with by Him. And if you reject this truth, that is the proof of YOUR BEAST WITHIN that must, and will eventually, be dealt with, and overcome. Glory to the Lord. Welcome to the real world.

ZH put forward that it seemed man made and might be started to increase oil price.

    • Guest

Man made yes, but not because of oil prices. It’s bigger than that.

      • J.L.W

Oil prices is pretty big. The elite do not want the stock market to fall and I have, on my blog, timed every “terrorist” attack (and random events such as the Tianjin explosion) to important points of the stock market.

The Syrian war is so that Da’esh takes over Syria, America installs a puppet government to allow an oil pipeline to go through Syria and allow the Americans and EU to not be dependent on Russian oil. Then the price can raise (it’s being pushed down to fight against Russia partly). However, this artificial suppressing of price is creating havoc in their allied countries such as Saudi Arabia.

Why do you think it is?

        • Guest

I think that the elites are wanting us to annihilate each other. Why should they do the dirty work when we can do it for them?

Just so you know, we hardly put a dent in world prices, and its expensive to process the sticky black stuff.

It’s the Saudis who are keeping the prices low. They are in the process of revamping their financial system so they are no longer dependent on oil. Just google it, the news was just released the last few weeks ago.

          • J.L.W

They are keeping the prices low. The reason they and their allies are doing so is to freeze out Russia. It’s just another sanction.

But that does not mean it is not destroying their own industry.

    • El mico

      Totally agree.
OPEC has been arguing for months to cut production, to raise the price of oil but not all parties are in agreement, especially Russia and Saudi Arabia.
So is there any suprise oil prices are already on the way up.

Of all the countries in the world that claim to be allies have any ever stood behind the U.S. like our Canadian neighbors?

Who sheltered our diplomats and their families when the embassy in Tehran was overrun?

Who has fought side by side with us in WWII and other conflicts since?

I’ve lived near the Canadian border in upstate New York and worked with French-Canadian lumberjacks; I’ve worked with Canadians in the woods of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest and fought forest fires with them; they were hard workers and staunch supporters of the U.S.

If we are ever in need of aid, I would expect to find our Canadian neighbors to be among the first to be there.

Why would we not provide as much aid (in the form of men and materiel) as we can to help them? Fire fighting crews are always looking for an opportunity to hone their fire fighting skills, train whenever possible, and improve their conditioning (they’re a macho bunch!).

Don’t deplete their supplies that may be needed here at home as the season progresses; but, if the locals can provide the equipment, we can provide some crews. Same with air support – If the Canadians can provide fuel and supplies, our aerial tanker crews would be glad to help.

Why don’t we own Canada instead of the Brits?

      • NorthernBud

No one but Canada, owns Canada.

        Simpleton.

        • SunnyFlaSnotress

Don’t kid yourself.. You are still under Britain and their tax rule.

      • Bob in Florida

Can you make a good argument for why we should?

I’ve not participated on this site before; so, I’ll ask – with a name like ‘snotress’ are you a troll; or, do some of your questions and comments really add value to the discussions?

        • Mr. Cipher

          It’s a Troll.

          • Bob in Florida

            Thank you, Mr. Cipher!

It took me two interactions with the ‘Snotress’ to conclude that this person had no substantive input and was only attempting to agitate.

            Thanks for confirming my suspicions.

      • BJ Giauque

Because you were to busy fighting the Brits to care what was north of you.

    • H_mmm

Also don’t forget, it was a group of Canadian firefighters and Search and Rescue members from Vancouver that were some of the very first to arrive in New Orleans after Katrina and were in full operational mode for 2 days in St. Bernard Parish before US based teams arrived.

I could list dozens of other natural disasters that Canadians have worked side by side with our American neighbours including my own military service with Search and Rescue out of Winnipeg where we added support to several mayday calls from downed aircraft inside the US border.

In times of disaster Americans and Canadians are among the first to respond and work tirelessly regardless of where or who.

  • Orac4Prez

I feel very sorry for the Canadians and I am sure most Americans feel the same. Its only natural to have greater concern for immediate neighbours – after all many of them you may know personally and have common interests, etc.

I feel sorry for the fire fighters and those trying to flee. My sister was a fire fighter and with blazes like these the embers can fall miles from the fire front. By the time the average person can sense danger, its quite possible to have been surrounded by new fire fronts and have escape routes blocked.

I do have a rather dark curiosity about the effects of a fire on the tar fields. Could this end up burning indefinitely, just like the “Gates of Hell” located in Turkmenistan?

We live on a self correcting planet. We’re just visitors here.

  • REALIST

This is what you get when you sin against the Lord. Repeatedly the BIBLE tells a Nation, that when they embrace outsiders, when the mix, when they promote homosexuality, when they turn against the foundation of the Nation, God ALWAYS punishes them.

The Jewish people disobeyed God. In taking over the promised land, Moses and his soldiers refused God command NOT TO MIX with others. But they did. They kept the non-Hebrew women and other impure ethnic women. They also began homosexuality and other animal perversions. GOD destroyed them, over and over.

This is happening to Canada, and soon America.

    • scottsacco

You’ve made it clear that you don’t believe in God, though you pretend to know and attempt to quote the Bible so you can turn it around and then blame the same subject that you don’t believe in. Then you conveniently twist your hate to blame people for their suffering because they challenged your sick little perception of God’s will. Still, the same God that you insult and challenge the existence of. You present yourself as a satanic, babbling idiot. Your attempt to ridicule people of faith is as pathetic as you are. Go in your closet and hurt yourself, punk.

  • Mr. Cipher

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Get some bulldozers in to remove trees before they can catch fire.

  • willy46

Hey! Just call up the boys at HAARP. They can make it rain all week with a little help from the chemtrail guys.

  • Mondobeyondo

Prayers for our Canadian friends who are living this nightmare.

    • REALIST

It’s God’s will, or it would not be happening.

      • Mr. Cipher

        Burn baby burn!

    • Guest

Thanks. Reports are coming in that 90% of the town survived unscathed. But the fire still rages on…

  • Mr. Cipher

Sending thoughts and prayers is just a cliche.

  • Hugo Schonhaar

Hope to see you all at the post-apocalyptic mixer. Hell is a bad place to be…

  • shadowsinthecave

The reason fires are so intense is from geo-engineering (chem trails) because aerosol spraying – aluminum particulates – makes forests much more flammable

  • Guest

    Sigh….. This *not* over yet.
