What You Do On Your Cell Phone Could Come Back To Haunt You

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Cell Phone Woman - Public DomainAs far as Big Brother is concerned, nothing that you do on your cell phone is ever private.  And if the government really wants to see what is on your cell phone, they are going to get that information one way or another, even if that means resorting to physical violence.   On Monday, NBC News provided us with yet another glaring example of how the United States is being transformed into a Big Brother police state.  On January 1st, Akram Shibly and Kelly McCormick from Buffalo, New York were coming back home from a trip to Toronto, and they didn’t anticipate any unusual problems when they got to the border.  Unfortunately for them, U.S. Customs & Border Protection agents decided to take their cell phones, demanded their passwords, and kept them in custody for the next two hours as they searched for anything that might be incriminating on those phones.

You might be thinking that sounds like it should be illegal, and you would be correct, but sadly federal courts have ruled that our constitutional rights do not apply to border searches.  So authorities use this legal loophole to do pretty much anything they want at the border.

If that young couple from Buffalo would have had something illegal on their phones, they could have been immediately arrested and put in prison.

And we haven’t even gotten to the worst part of the story yet.  Just a few days later Akram Shibly and Kelly McCormick took another trip to Canada, and this time border agents physically assaulted Akram when he did not immediately turn over his phone.  The following comes from NBC News

Three days later, they returned from another trip to Canada and were stopped again by CBP.

“One of the officers calls out to me and says, ‘Hey, give me your phone,'” recalled Shibly. “And I said, ‘No, because I already went through this.'”

The officer asked a second time.

Within seconds, he was surrounded: one man held his legs, another squeezed his throat from behind. A third reached into his pocket, pulling out his phone. McCormick watched her boyfriend’s face turn red as the officer’s chokehold tightened.

Is this still America?

I can’t believe that this is what the United States has become.  When I was young I remember reading about this sort of thing in Nazi Germany, the USSR and Communist China, but I never imagined that it would happen here.  For years I have been warning about this growing “Big Brother police state control grid”, and I wish that more Americans would realize how evil all of this government surveillance truly is.

You can watch an interview where this couple from Buffalo talks to NBC News about this recent incident at the border right here.  It is so disgusting that this is how we are treating law abiding people when countless numbers of drug dealers and gang members are pouring across unprotected sections of our border every single day.

Unfortunately, cell phone searches at the border appear to be rising at an exponential rate.  According to NBC News, more cell phone searches were conducted at the border during the month of February 2017 than in the entire year of 2015…

Data provided by the Department of Homeland Security shows that searches of cellphones by border agents has exploded, growing fivefold in just one year, from fewer than 5,000 in 2015 to nearly 25,000 in 2016.

According to DHS officials, 2017 will be a blockbuster year. Five-thousand devices were searched in February alone, more than in all of 2015.

And of course it isn’t just searches at the border that you need to be concerned about.

Not too long ago, it was being reported that the CIA has helped the Justice Department with technology that allows law enforcement officials to scan “data from thousands of U.S. cellphones at a time” from the safety of a plane…

The Central Intelligence Agency played a crucial role in helping the Justice Department develop technology that scans data from thousands of U.S. cellphones at a time, part of a secret high-tech alliance between the spy agency and domestic law enforcement, according to people familiar with the work.

The CIA and the U.S. Marshals Service, an agency of the Justice Department, developed technology to locate specific cellphones in the U.S. through an airborne device that mimics a cellphone tower, these people said.

So the next time a strange plane flies over your house, this may be what is happening.

Here is more on this disturbing new technology

The program operates specially equipped planes that fly from five U.S. cities, with a flying range covering most of the U.S. population. Planes are equipped with devices—some past versions were dubbed “dirtboxes” by law-enforcement officials—that trick cellphones into reporting their unique registration information.

I have a feeling that if this program was ever challenged in court that it would be ruled unconstitutional, so let’s hope that happens as soon as possible.

But then again, the NSA has been collecting and storing all forms of electronic communication for years and nothing is being done about.  We have even had a 36-year veteran of the NSA named William Binney come out and publicly admit that all of our phone conversations “are being monitored and stored” and still nothing is done to stop it.

So don’t do anything on your cell phone that you wouldn’t want the government to see, because someday they could use it to nail you.

Of course we also need to use discretion regarding the things that we know the public will be able to see.  When you post something to Facebook or Twitter, you may think that it is harmless, but it could end up costing you big time.  In fact, I just came across an article about how a number of pastors have actually been fired because of what is on their social media accounts

“It’s not fair I lost my job,” the pastor told me.

“My church members post a lot worse things than I do on social media. It’s a double standard.”

He’s right. It is a double standard. But it’s reality. And, with greater frequency, more pastors and church staff are losing their jobs because of what they post, particularly on Facebook and Twitter and, to some extent, their blogs.

By the way, churches will not always tell the pastor the specific reason for the firing. But, once we begin to infuriate our church members with our posts, many will find a myriad of reasons to give us the boot.

Like the title to this article says, what you do on your cell phone could come back to haunt you.

For many Americans, cell phones have become an essential part of modern life, but the truth is that those little electronic devices can also destroy our lives if we are not careful.

So if you are going to use them, use them wisely, because people are watching.

Trump is forced to reveal his tax returns: White House slams ‘desperate’ Rachel Maddow after she obtains 2005 filing showing President paid $38m after declaring income of $150m

The White House was left fuming Tuesday night as Rachel Maddow (pictured left) revealed that she had obtained Donald Trump’s tax returns. In her MSNBC show, Maddow said that the 2005 document had been obtained by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Cay Johnston. They showed that Trump paid just $5.3 million in federal taxes – a rate of less than 3.5 per cent – but then had to pay an additional $31 million in ‘alternative minimum tax,’ something Trump has said he wants to abolish. The rest of the money was payroll taxes, mostly Medicare.

In response, an indignant White House told CNN: ‘You know you are desperate for ratings when you’re prepared to violate the law to push a story about tax returns from over a decade ago.’

    • Per the Disqus rules of conduct that we all agreed to when opening our accounts, this was flagged as spam.

      • Stuey

        Good!! Thank you.

      • SnodtBlossom

Your flag will be ignored. Socal is not spamming.

        • Per Disqus terms, he most certainly is; posting off-topic discussion and off-topic links is a violation of Disqus’ rules that I (and everyone else) agreed to help stop by flagging when we see it. Most people don’t bother to read the rules and conduct prior to joining a service, but I do. And I follow them too (or I just don’t join the site).

The spamming, the posting off-topic, i.e., the occasional “I made a whole lotta money werkin’ frum home”, etc., all fall under the penumbra of flaggable posts.

So, yeah, the other people who enjoy his blatant mistruths/fake news postings will ignore our duty of flagging his off-topic posts, but Disqus doesn’t. And they are the ones I made a contract with when I clicked the “I agree to all terms” button before being granted access to a Disqus account.

          • socalbeachdude

That describes all of YOUR comments quite perfectly! Always totally delusional. Always off-topic! Often obscene. Sad.

          • Mine include links from reputable sites which verify my veracity, plus they remain on topic (more specifically, on topic to refute the incorrect claims given in any article here), while yours are rarely backed up by fact, by reputable sites, nor are they even remotely affiliated with the article’s topic. The article could be about debt issues for Millennials, and you’ll post some hysterical nonsense about Clinton conspiracy theories coming from a Russian-paid domain.

<AND THEN JUST TO MAKE EVERYONE LAUGH HARDER AT YOU, YOU GO AHEAD AND “UPVOTE” YOUR HYSTERIA. ONE LONE “UPVOTE” IN SUPPORT OF YOUR OTHERWISE BIZARRE AND INANE RAMBLINGS. Yep, you’re soooo legit with your little projection about others doing the thing you — and ONLY YOU — keep doing.

          • socalbeachdude

Your comments indicate you are a CLUELESS, NEGATIVE, NASTY, FOUL-MOUTHED, VINDICTIVE PERSON and nothing else as they have no substance and are not back4ed up with any facts or reasonable analysis at all.

          • Mirror.jpg

          • MEP325

Looks like the flagging didn’t do a whole lot. Sad trombone

          • “Thank you for flagging that jerk, someone had to do it. I wish I wasn’t such a fear-filled sheeple.”

You are quite welcome. Although one lone flagging does nothing at all, they certainly add up when others step up too. I have enjoyed coming back here and seeing my replies to him suddenly appear as replies to ‘comment deleted‘ signed by “guest”.

          • MEP325

Nope. I can still read all his comments and the replies between you and him.

    • Daddyotis

Dude, knock it off. You’re embarrassing yourself

    • We all acknowledge that Dishonest Donald’s own crew looked hard and long for ONE, LONE tax return that didn’t look too awful, right? And then they fake-leaked it to detract from his Russia problems and his cabinet problems and his ethics problems and his actual tax return problems and his former Campaign Chair Shortey problems… and so on and so on.

There was no real leak; this was orchestrated and Maddow & Co. were moronic not to conclude this on air.

      • socalbeachdude

Donald Trump is one of the MOST HONEST men in America and is doing an exceptionally excellent job as President of the United States. He has no involvement whatsoever with Russia and your LIES AND DEFAMATION TO THE CONTRARY are as bogus as a $3 Euro.

        • To say that Dishonest, Deceitful Donald is “one of the most honest men in America is very literally the most misandrist, anti-man thing anyone could say against men.

To look at Dishonest Donald’s hideous phobia of telling the truth and to claim that MOST MEN are even LESS HONEST than that? That is sickeningly hateful toward all men. Men are better than Dishonest Don the Con.

      • Mr.Cipher

Russia problems? LOL you people are sooo desperate. It’s fun to watch. Evidence?
Didn’t Hillary say on National TV that Trump didn’t pay any Federal income tax?

        • “[…] Trump didn’t pay any Federal income tax”

Sure would be nice if he’d have released his worst tax release rather than his most favorable then, eh? I mean, his latest reason for not releasing his taxes was “because no one cares, no one wants to see them, no one but the press”, and yet… the White House dot gov petition demanding that tax-dodgin’ trumpy received more signatures than any other petition in the system’s entire history. It had over 368,000 signatures, surpassing the previous record of 367,180.

Yet Crooked Donald thinks “no one” cares. If that man were any more clueless, he’d… well, there can be no punchline, as he technically could NOT be more clueless!

          • Mr.Cipher

368,000 of a 300,000,000 population is practically nobody.

          • And yet it’s almost four times the amount of most white house dot gov petitions. In other words, exceedingly few people ever agree wholeheartedly enough with others to ever reach so much as 100,000 signatures; this one asking that Dishonest Donald keep his campaign promise of sharing tax returns caused enough people from ALL political spectrums to agree with one another: SHOW US WHAT YOU PROMISED YOU’D SHOW, SHOW US YOU AREN’T LYING (finally).

          • p.s. The population of a country is one thing, but the number of people who are over 18 is another. Subtract further the apolitical folk (who comprise most of the nation), subtract those who are not Internet savvy (old folk, primarily, but also people who are not intelligent), and the almost 400,000 number suddenly takes up a lot of space.

It’s a shame you couldn’t have thought of any of that yourself, but hey, Trump voters never claimed to have graduated grade school.

          • Mr.Cipher

I suppose with such an itilectual opposition such as yourself Trump should just confess to all the tax evasion the IRS has been giving him a pass on. Oh, and his secret partnership with Russia.
You win. You and your tin foil hat army of 368,000 lol

          • I tried running that through the hysterical-to-English translator and it came back with no results.

I guess you could feel proud of that…?

      • vladilyich

I have to agree with you 100%. There is NO Russian hacking, either of the DNC or of the Donald. If there was, you would NEVER know about it because they wouldn’t get caught. I can assure you that the Russians are MUCH too good at what they do to get caught or to be obvious.

        • ” I can assure you that the Russians are MUCH too good at what they do to get caught or to be obvious.”

Ah, then your assurances aren’t worth two measly rubles. The Russians have been ‘caught’ too many times before; these last several times were no different. It’s not like they have any reason to hide their hackjobs anyway.

Plus with today’s electronic paper trails there’s hardly a reason to even pretend you wanted to keep the hacking private.

      Dude. Shut up…

  • Mike Smithy

I think you are a very good writer. However, everybody knows that NBC is fake news and thus, you diminish your own credibility by citing them in your story. Stop feeding the beast, you are better than that.

    • socalbeachdude

MessNBC and CNN are the broadcast/cable top winners for FAKE NEWS while the Washington Post owned by Jeffie Bozo and the New York Slimes (which should be renamed the Mexican Slimes after its owner Carlos Slim) take the grand prizes in FAKE NEWS for print and internet media.

    • Bill

Why doesn’t Michael reply to anything as he used to? Why does the dude get his links approved so quickly?

    • Rick

I couldn’t agree more. In fact that was going to be my comment. Did NBC news really do any homework on verifying the story? Did they send people out to talk to boarder control? Did they request the boarder control tapes from those event? I bet not.

    • Jason Samuelson

Not every story or statistic portrayed on mainstream media is “Fake News”. Granted, a lot of their BS is, but not all of it. I’m pretty sure before Michael quotes something from the mainstream, he’s somewhat verified it’s accuracy.

    • If you take away fanatical fake news from this blog, then he’d have nothing to write about anymore.

Ohh, I see what you did there… clever boy…

      • socalbeachdude

There is no “fake news” in any of Michael’s excellent articles on this site.

Privacy is sadly and nearly non-existent in today’s electronic world. Our rights are slowly disappearing.

  • DeathtoFiat

Everyone needs to start using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) service. They cost as little as $4 a month or less, and can usually be installed on as many as 5 devices. Your smartphone, laptop, and tablet can all be secure and private. Educate yourself on some elementary cybersecurity, it’s worth it. Website owners can also protect the information of their visitors using Secured Socket Layer (SSL) certificate technology. Costs about as much as a VPN. https:// indicates SSL.

    • socalbeachdude

That doesn’t change anything stored on any of those devices, and it just makes it a little more difficult with outside IP tracking of your devices.

If the end translation is correct, you are implying that I in some small way supported former President of the United States Barack Obama. I did not. No part of me voted for him, supported him, nor liked him. If you have something important or intelligent to say in the future, please make it accurate as well.

I suspect in your upcoming apology message, you’ll sound just as confused and disoriented from the truth again, so let’s just say I just accept your apology in advance there, Cindy.

Its not like you say anything relevant anyway.

          • Ha, back at ya! All I could catch through that incoherent hysteria was “I’ll never apologize…”, followed a while later with “sorry”. I already accepted your apology so it hardly mattered.

Too bad you’re as bad at guessing other people’s political minds as you are at making sense…. your fixation upon Herpes is quite telling though. Perhaps that’s why you can’t make any sense. Oh, wait, no… that’s your syphilis speaking. You and Diminished Capacity Donald probably got it from the same kid, eh?

Carrie: It started in earnest with your Black Bro AND his Regime for the past 8 yrs.. By the way you must have alot on time on your hands as evidenced by your numerous responses to people. I guess the TRUTH bother’s you!

        • I don’t have any Black bros; only blond, blue-eyed ones. Definitely got me confused with G-d only knows whom.

Also, see yourself to a nice grammar and syntax class, like what they teach in 4th or 5th grade. And work on your punctuation also. It’s baffling why your parents let you come to a grownup site like this with what surely must be a failing grade in English class.

Carrie: Then what the F are you doing on a grownup site. Your probably in Mommy & Daddy’s basement playing with your glass snowflake sphere. Now, go back to bed with your little Teddy bear in your “safe zone”. I’m finished communicating with you.

          • That couldn’t have made less sense if you’d tried. (Please do not try however; this latest drivel of yours was hard enough to palate. You really do have me confused with G-d only knows… and shame on you for that.)

          • Bob332

Just as I thought…a Jew LIBERAL.

          • Wow, I dared you to TRY to make even less sense, and you dutifully obeyed.

Go ahead — call me all manner of things which I am absolutely not. You may think this is a schoolyard, where little kid taunts equal fact, but nope! I’m grownup enough to laugh off being called “jew” and/or “liberal”. You may as well call me a left-handed Catholic Sagittarius Algonquin… because those are a few other things I’m not!

          • Bob332

Carrie: One LAST comment. Did you play in the starring role in the movie CARRIE. You may want to ck it out. It seems your having a snowflake meltdown. Sweet dreams.

          • You enjoy breaking promises — you keep promising you’ll stop writing to me, yet you continue to do so. Your word means as much as your continued avoidance of facts. All you have is insults and a fear of truth.

Now you’re asking me if I am Sissy Spacek. Wow. No, I am no coal miner’s daughter.

Also, “Carrie” is just my Disqus name. I chose it because people just like you avoided facing statements I made and instead relied on sinful lying, name-calling, and attempts at abuse. And the chick in the movie handled her business!

The kids too must keep their phones at home, and we take just my husband’s cell for emergencies only. Would Border Patrol go nutso on us?? Because… not everybody… has… their phone in front of their face 24/7.

Plan B would consist of buying a burner cell and loading it up with thousands of pen!s pix, perhaps with small words written across them to force the border guys into staring at pen!ses potentially plotting who-only-knows-what. Maybe photoshop border agents… wait, I JUST NOW did an adult search for Border Patrol p 0rn… and found loads of weird “acts” between border agents (well, dudes dressed as border agents). One silver lining to these illegal leaks to the Trump administration is that the deep state spy apparatus is being exposed before our eyes. My hope is that Trump will be so angry that he will curtail and dismantle this new police state. Shut down that Utah fusion center. It was finally acknowledged that it exists the other day on Fox. Quite surprising considering that it was all conspiracy theory a few years ago…

O.K. you all really do not get it, do you? If your phone can be read or cloned. You do understand, just as they can take anything out. They can put anything in. Planting evidence Is an old game. Planting digital evidence is far easier. The whole purpose. Is to be able to arrest and convict anybody at anytime, who upsets the government.

The only way to stop these clowns from over excercising their authoritarian powers and assaulting us is paying them a visit at a later date at an inconvenient time of our choosing. If any government agent unnecessarily assaults me and grabs my throat, he’ll be wishing in the very near future that he didn’t do that, just saying…

There has to be more with the story about that couple from New York as the U.S. border agents didn’t shake them down for nothing.

You’re right. I have a friend who is bald, drives a pickup with NRA plates, and has a black wife. They were stopped at Niagara and searched. GEEE? what gave it away? Their looks.

NBC news is a propaganda arm of the DNC just like that big to do about nothing last night when Rachael Maddow released a short form of Trumps 1040 tax return from 2005 and now we know he pays more taxes than NBC / Comcast does OUCH!!!

His first name is Mohammed (which he never uses in social media)…and his brother is a spokesperson for the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Activism is something inherent in the Shibly family. It’s likely that he did not help the situation (being an asshole), and this led to the agents doing what they did. Possible CAIR stunt.

The monster that is our intelligence agencies was turned loose over 20 years ago. Probably it dates all the way back to the late 40s.
Don’t see anyone prosecuted for being over the top on criminally disobeying the constitution of this country. In fact it is backed by the very representatives we have in Congress.
The checks and balances supposedly in place are a joke.
So what is likely to contain this monster?
You are likely looking at it right now.
They have stepped on the toes of the wrong set of people. People with enormous financial assets and people who actually control the Congress with their campaign contributions.
Yet even billionaires do not control this group.
Trump claims they illegally tapped him during the election.
    Trump provides no evidence.
Yet I trust he has the evidence in reserve somewhere.
He simply has not allowed it to become public. Yet . . .
This monster right now is probably Democrat.
If Trump has 50 billionaires in support of his administration look out.
They will take this monster down and the Congress will support them.
Not for any other reason than that is where their butter is.
Money talks. And they have a lot of it in reserve.
Even if Trump has just a few billionaires in his cabinet supporting him look out.
Even Democrats need money to operate.
The people in these government bureaus need to consider the force behind Trump. If he is able to, he will bring all these bureaucrats down and simplify the entire government.
So it really comes down to who is more powerful, private sector money or the bureaus. IF I am right, there is a whole lot of change happening in the next year. And a lot of it will be backed by the Congress, for the Congress, and by the people that control the congress with their money.

January 10, 2014 *500* Years of History Shows that Mass Spying Is Always Aimed at Crushing Dissent

*It’s Never to Protect Us From Bad Guys* No matter which government conducts mass surveillance, they also do it to crush dissent, and then give a false rationale for why they’re doing it.

This is the most overvalued stock market on record — even worse than 1929

This is the most dangerous and overvalued stock market on record — worse than 2007, worse than 2000, even worse than 1929.

Or so warns Wall Street soothsayer John Hussman in his scariest jeremiad yet.

“Presently, we observe the broadest market valuation extreme in history,” writes the chairman of the cautious Hussman Funds investment group, “with the steepest median valuations on record, and the most reliable capitalization-weighted measures within a few percent of their 2000 peaks.”

And what does that nonsense have to do with anything at all?

The Constitution of the USA gives Americans the right to free speech and I am fully convinced that is why Americans never stop talking. Always sniping at each other. Give it a break and if you can’t talk something intelligent then don’t talk at all.

It is so disgusting that this is how we are treating law abiding people when countless numbers of drug dealers and gang members are pouring across unprotected sections of our border every single day.

With this sentence, you reveal yourself as just another Statist who wants the government to run everyone’s lives. Drug dealers provide a desired service at an agreed-upon price. What do you have against them?

  • Rudya

I remember coming back from Canada several years ago and the US border agents were extremely rude and aggressive. While going the other way, the Canadian border guards were polite and cordial.

After some contemplation on what I witnessed, I saw this difference as a symptom of the growing police state.

After visiting the States in my LAST long(er) term visit in 2008 to the US from Canada, I hade no doubt the States was going through a transition and American citizens were being conditioned for just what you contemplated.

All multiracial, multi-cultural empires are police states, they have to be. When the nation tolerated the ruling class bringing in diversity and open borders it said goodbye to freedom. The ’64 “Civil Rights” act was the first shot in this ruling class campaign to use race as a weapon to transfer wealth and power upwards. The new colonialists will vote in the hard left and the First and Second Amendments will be toast.

nope. My eyesight is just fine. His are still up, as well as the replies between you and him. I don’t know what alternate universe you and your computer are in. And looking at the comments on this page, you’re the one who started chasing him. So, you should not be surprised when people respond back. Law of cause and effect.

    • OK, you’re a “right-fighter”… “nuh-uhhhhn, I’M right, not youuuu”.

But I know the truth, not the partial truth that only some of his spam is still up. He’s got tons of it, and not all of it gets flagged away. For you not to know that… well… you do know it, but would rather claim you’re the only one correct.

And along with the right-fighting, I know your sort needs to have the last word to feel good (or whatever it is you people feel), so go ahead, I grant you the last word in this exchange. But I’ll correct you again in future exchanges should you initiate them again.

      • MEP325

Ohhh, you know the truth! How enlightening! I guess your computer screen is magically showing you “this comment has been deleted” phrases that are currently not on the page. Perhaps you forgot your meds today?
