Will Detroit Be The First Major Chinese City In The United States?

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

ChinaIs Detroit destined to become a Chinese city?  Chinese homebuyers and Chinese businesses are starting to flood into the Motor City, and the governor of Michigan is greatly encouraging this.  In fact, he has formally asked the Obama administration for 50,000 special federal immigration visas to encourage even more immigration from China and elsewhere.  So will Detroit be the first major city in the United States to be dominated by China?  It could happen.  Once upon a time, Detroit was the greatest manufacturing city in the history of the world and it had the highest per capita income in the entire country.  But now it is a rotting, decaying, bankrupt hellhole that is in desperate need of a savior, and Michigan Governor Rick Snyder appears to be fully convinced that China can be that savior.

To Snyder, encouraging foreigners to invest money and buy up properties won’t cost the state government much, but it could potentially have great benefits

Under a plan to be unveiled Thursday, Gov. Rick Snyder will request 50,000 special federal immigration visas over the next five years to attract foreign professionals who are willing to work and live in the city.

Mr. Snyder, in an interview Wednesday, said that “this is one way for the federal government to step up to provide significant value without cost that could have a huge impact on the city’s future.”

At a news conference announcing his plan, Snyder was not shy about declaring his intentions

Let’s send a message to the entire world: Detroit, Michigan, is open to the world.

In other words, Snyder wants China to save Detroit since nobody in this country is going to.

Snyder has also taken a couple of additional steps to encourage immigration and foreign investment, including opening up something called “an Office for New Americans”

Opening an Office for New Americans to attract and help immigrants better adjust to life in Michigan, and designating the state as an Employer Based or EB-5 center to expedite visas and permits for immigrants who want to open business in the state with investments of at least $500,000 and 10 employees.

In essence, Snyder has done just about everything except roll out the welcome mat for the Chinese.

But this is nothing new for Governor Snyder.  In fact, he has been making overtures to China for years

Snyder, who was a businessman before starting his political career, believes that automobiles can no longer change the fate of Detroit. He said that he has learned from the history of the United States that what has made the nation great is immigrants.

In the early 1990s, Snyder went to China to develop the automobile market. After he was elected as the governor of Michigan, he made at least one trip to China every year, with the aim of recruiting talent.

He hopes that well-educated Chinese people can revitalize the Motor City in the new era. And as he desired, after Detroit announced its bankruptcy in 2013, the Chinese began to take the dying city by storm.

Rich Chinese men see Detroit as a rare opportunity for investment outside their home country.

In 2013, without any field investigation, Dongdu International Group of Shanghai — whose assets total 5 billion yuan (US$800 million) — spent US$13.6 million to buy the David Stott building and the Detroit Free Press building at auctions in September.

And when we talk about the Chinese domination of Detroit, this is not something that is just future tense.  This is something that is already happening right now.  For example, the following is an excerpt from a CNBC article that discussed how Chinese companies are already aggressively “putting down roots in Detroit”…

Dozens of companies from China are putting down roots in Detroit, part of the country’s steady push into the American auto industry.

Chinese-owned companies are investing in American businesses and new vehicle technology, selling everything from seat belts to shock absorbers in retail stores, and hiring experienced engineers and designers in an effort to soak up the talent and expertise of domestic automakers and their suppliers.

The transformation that has taken place in that region of the country is absolutely remarkable.

48 percent of the manufacturing jobs in the state of Michigan were lost between December 2000 and December 2010.  Our trade deficit with China was largely responsible for that.

And now we are relying on China to come in and salvage the ruins of our gutted economic infrastructure.

Not only that, but the Chinese are also eagerly buying up homes at extremely depressed prices all over Detroit.

According to CNN, Detroit is already number four on the list of the top 10 destinations for Chinese homebuyers.  In many cases, Chinese buyers are scooping up properties without even looking at them first.  Just check out what one Detroit real estate broker told Quartz last July

“I have people calling and saying, ‘I’m serious—I wanna buy 100, 200 properties,’” she tells Quartz, noting that one of her colleagues recently sold 30 properties to a Chinese buyer. “They say ‘We don’t need to see them. Just pick the good ones.’”

And they aren’t just interested in Detroit.  As I have written about previously, one Chinese company known as “Sino-Michigan Properties LLC” actually had plans to buy 200 acres of land near the little town of Milan, Michigan and turn it into a “China City” with artificial lakes, a Chinese cultural center and hundreds of housing units for Chinese citizens.  For much more on how Chinese buyers are gobbling up real estate all over the nation, please see my previous article entitled “The Chinese Are Acquiring Large Chunks Of Land In Communities All Over America“.

All of this is just another indication of how rapidly the global economic landscape is changing.

Since the late 19th Century, the United States has been the most dominant economic power in the world.

But now that reign is ending.

Just recently, a new study released by the World Bank indicated that China is now the largest economy in the world in terms of purchasing power…

A report out of the World Bank shows rapidly expanding China is poised to overtake the once invincible United States as the world’s largest economy by the end of 2014.

The International Comparison Program looks at exchange rates to reveal purchasing power of different currencies and found that yuan in China will soon pack more punch than the mighty dollar.

Meanwhile, Chinese officials bashed the report as flawed, likely for fear of losing its status as a developing nation and the pollution-spewing perks that come with it.

And a couple of years ago China passed the United States and become the leader in global trade.

As the Chinese economy continues to rise and the U.S. economy continues to decline, the shift in global power is going to become even more dramatic.

Yes, let us hope for the best for our failing economy, but you also might want to teach your kids to speak Chinese just in case.

Are you related to the Mr.Snyder in the article? Just wondering.

  • Rodster

Would you be a racist if you rolled out a red carpet for the Chinese? 😛

    • Albert8184

No. But if you popped firecrackers and spark twirlers at the airport when they arrived, you’d be tazed and choked out by every jackbooted thug not sitting at the doughnut shop.

  • GSOB

Good enough for Michigan, good enough for me.

    • xander cross

Until they take away your internet access to visit this site. I can’t wait until all of this backfire on you all that is supporting China buying up Detroit.

  • K

Yes a great idea, bring in over 50,000 communist chinese. Notice when the dollars start rolling, no one calls them communists anymore. Yes let them in by the 10s of thousands, can’t ask them to use too many American workers. After all what could go wrong, with letting a potential enemy have a large presence in our Country. I think we should sell Montana to the Russians. How about New Mexico to the Saudis. After all, we are just one big happy world.

    • Syrin

I don’t think people get it. 50,000 isn’t even the tip of the spear. China plans a mass exodus from China into the US.

      • K

True, it is just the beginning. There are none so blind, as they who will not see. I think that sums up about 80% of the population.

        • Thomas The Tinker

Question… What percentage of the population… voting population.. would it take to in effect.. control Detroit Government? Add to that number the cash assets to influence said Government?

          • K

Good questions for a normally functioning city. In Detroit desperation reigns .Bring in a few companies, create some decent jobs. You already have their undivided attention. Offer to bring in even more companies and more jobs, and you own them. Desperate people will kill each other over a morsel of bread. The Chinese have brought several loves of bread.

          • K

            sorry meant to say loaves

      • Mike Smithy

On the bright side, it is entirely possible that Michigan could once again be a red state with the influx of Chinese immigrants whom have grown weary of living under the thumb of a repressive leftist regime. If only we could swap out the current residents of Detroit to immigrate to Communist China on a 1 for 1 basis. It could be a win/win situation. Everybody gets what they want.

        • xander cross

You think that may happen, but when they buy your politicians and start installing chinese policies by one child policies for everybody and every race, then will you all rebel against them?

        • Fedup

Won’t happen cause Chinese wouldn’t put up with all the black crap – gangsta, thug, and welfare culture.

          • Mike Smithy

            You are exactly right.

    • Priszilla

Where do you want to find 50,000 communists today? In which museum or mausoleum?

      • K

The communist party still runs China. The simple fact, is very little has changed in China. They allow a little more economic freedom, and fool many of you into thinking they changed. Say something the Government in China does not like, get your Church torn down. The same central planning that destroyed so much of the female population, their male population has to seek wives outside of the Country. It is such a paradise, they have to put nets around their factories. Why? To keep people from jumping to their death.Sounds like communists to me.

    • Albert8184

Nonsense. Most communist Chinese know more about individual initiative and free market entrepreneurship than your typical Gen-X slacker and skateboarding Emo stoner.

  • Bill

We probably can’t stop them from coming and perhaps their arrival won’t be any different than that of Columbus which led to the creation of the greatest democracy on earth. If we insist they support our Constitution and speak our language first, it will stay great and free.

    • Richard

Since when does the Debtor demand or insist on anything from his Creditor? Try that with your Bank loans. You need to get into the 21st century with your thought processes.

      • Bill

Sorry to confuse you but from my perspective I was looking at freedom in relation to civil liberties not financial liberty.

        • Richard

When in history has civil liberties ever sprung up unto those who were Financially oppressed by their system of Government?

  • Tatiana Covington

So who would you rather have there, setting aside all ideologies? Shall we say… the preset denizens, or Chinese?

I’d take Chinese in a heartbeat.

    • K

The same Chinese who have polluted their own Country to the point, that parts of it are uninhabitable. The same Chinese that buy Smithfield, and within 60 days pigs are dying left and right. From a virus never seen here before, but common in China. Outside of ebola, almost every deadly disease outbreak, such as Sars starts in China. Think the living conditions might have something to do with it? Suicidal much.

      • Malcolm Reynolds

Or just loon much. Her comments are usually hard to the loon side.

        • Kim

          I agree.

          • Yahno

talk to any Chinese person living in America…..New York is already their city, believe it or not. Spend a little time with a Chinese person, living in America, who was actually born and who lived for a considerable period of time in China, it is an eye opener.

        • K

Yes, but look how many are agreeing. I guess they never heard about jumping from the frying pan, into the fire.

      • Syrin

You cannot over state this point. 60% of water in China is undrinkable, their air is unbreathable in almost all major urban centers. I have read people who believe China will be completely uninhabitable in a generation hence the reason they are eying taking over the US. The problem is we’ll have to be re-located and/or removed, something our gov’t seems more inclined to do daily.

        • none

          Well thank god for this!
The Chinese have uninhabited cites completely built.
And for who? The Americans who will be out of work and homeless!
Thank god our administration is working tirelessly, with the Chinese to help take care of U,S, citizens in the future!

In China, American companies produce for American consumers, because they can bribe officials so that they dont need to protect the environment.

You should see how those american companies cry foul when the chinese shut down their polluting factories – tyranny, antiproperty, etc.

        • Hammerstrike

What is happening is far more pernicious.
The banks are, by controlling and printing the dollar and other “western” currencies are able to leeche off profit from both workers, manufacturing and “positive” economic activity as a whole to the banks themselves and their cronies. If you

You’ll have to overcome Michale Snyder’s dry sarcasm first. I can just see it: he’ll be the first out there with the little flags flying in celebration of the “War Against China” when it is declared – for whatever reason – logic be damned! Trouble is, this time the Uhmurruhkns won’t win. That’s ll be a shock-and-a half to ’em, won’t it?

      • Syrin

And that half will consist mostly of the same half who pay no taxes. The day of being a societal parasite is coming to an end in short order. Pay attention GARY. I’ve warned you about this for years now.

          • Airedale

Those that live off of the government pay taxes with other people’s money.

          • K2

Damn if they dont pay taxes, damn if they do.When you are broke and jobless, you will have no choice but to do the same.

    • Priszilla

If he doesnt like working for Chinese, why doesnt he work for Americans?

Dont blame the Chinese for filling a vacuum that American “businessmen” created.

  • Richard

The Chinese hold over two Trillion dollars in U.S. debt obligations or paper as it is called. This is more than 2 years of U.S. Gross Domestic Product. Do you think the Chinese do not understand that the Dollar will be Worthless before too long? Of course they do. This is why the Chinese have been the world’s largest gold importer and producer (no production leaves the country) for several years now. Not only do the Chinese want physical wealth in the form of gold and silver but they want all tangible real assets for their Dollars before they become worthless and are using their hoard of U.S. debt to buy real estate, mines, oil fields, etc. in the U.S. and around the world while they can. The Chinese are not the stupid ones – Americans are. How sad, what this Nation has become.

    • Syrin

100% accurate. Look at my post above to see what Dave Hodges and Jim Garrow say to further your point along

      • Hammerstrike

2 trillions officially, meaning the real debt is most likely much higher.

Thanks for bringing this up I keep up with Quayle, Hodges, Hagmann, etc. and this is scary stuff. Americans are so stupid, their smart phones have turned them into zombies. and we are being conquered from within. You are right. I was thinking about annual spending of the U.S. Government budget which is about 1 Trillion Dollars. Got them mixed up. Thanks for correcting my mistake. The GDP was about 16.8 Trillion in 2013 for the U.S.

      • Donald Wilson

You are absolutely correct annual US GDP is around 14 to 16 Trillion…The End

        Bravo Two Zero out

      • Albert8184

Yeah. Actually our GDP is way, way, way the biggest in the world. We’re roughly 25 percent of the world GDP. Twice the size of number 2 China. Three times bigger than Germany, Britain and France combined and as big as the entire EU. California by itself is the third largest economy in the world. We’re all of that, with even 20 percent of the workforce out of work.

But that’s not the point. The point is, we’re being robbed blind to finance a New World Order by the shadow government of the globe. We’re spending nearly 3 times as much as we take in with tax revenues.

    • Hammerstrike

    • Dan Duell

Why don’t our politicians use a root analysis to make decisions instead of trying to fix the symptoms of the root cause(s). Detroit and a lot of other areas are suffering from the same primary root cause. Our manufacturing industry has left the country in large numbers. Manufacturers employ more employees and require a larger number of supporting businesses than a lot of other business segments. So, if we replace that with importing, sales offices & service centers we are way short on replacing those lost jobs. We can blame Foreign Trade Policy as one of the primary causes. Most all our policies only state recommendations on how a country should conduct its business. So, if a country (business) uses 13 year old kids and makes them work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day it’s OK we can trade with them. This is just the start, you have environmental issues, safety issues, etc. Just think of what would happen if foreign countries trading with the USA were required to improve toward similar regulations. We surely have to meet environmental, safety, human right, etc. in order to conduct business in the USA. It would mean more USA jobs and hopefully improvements in quality of life in other countries.

  • Nathan Hardenburg

I just had some Chinese move in next door, they are so darn quiet and polite, i often forget they are there…I don’t feel afraid at all of them, and am kind of proud they moved in! Chinese slave labor, along with Black slave labor, helped build this country. I want to be friends with the Chinese, I think people are being racist/ridiculous.

You are being naive. Look up China and culture of cheating. Look up china and US mineral rights. Look up china and human rights. Individuals aren’t representative of their gov’t. China and Russia are going to destroy the petrodollar, and they’ll smile and bow the whole time they do it.

        • Yahno

Like with any Influx of people, a couple English during the 1600s was no big deal…a couple million totally stunk for the natives living in the land.

So a couple of Chinese…no big deal. They are amazing, exceptionally polite, wonderful people. Several million or a hundred million living in America…that’s going be a game changer in terms of politics.

We are already on the cusp of a communistic government…this will tip the scales. And with their militaristic build-up and their expanding nationalism, you are NOT going to be able to close the proverbial door once they feel they have a large enough investment in the U.S.

I once dated a guy from Hawaii, whose mother was Chinese. He told me the culture is extremely anti-female, she was glad not to be living in China anymore.

It should be “interesting” to see that culture combined with the Muslims who’ve taken over some nearby areas (Deerborn, MI)… will they clash, or make life hell for women?

    • Richard

You are right about individual Chinese people. They are some of the best. I think the difference that this article is getting at tho is not the individual people but the Chinese Government gaining ownership of too much of our Nation and then dominating us. I believe that is the concern (fear) that is trying to be put forth here. Please read my comment above.

      • Nathan Hardenburg

Richard I don’t dispute that the Chinese are buying land, what I dispute, is the mass stupidity of people who don’t understand that the Chinese have been bailing us out financially for some time…what I’m trying to say, is we did it to ourselves, and amongst the massive denial, I see people constantly focusing their energy towards an arrogant/ignorant blame game…with your article, which I did read, your are doing that to the Chinese. In other words, you not looking the true cause of many problems, and it starts by looking in the mirror…now that I’ve said this though, in America, I’ bound to be labeled a terrorist and sent away to the torture chambers!!…sigh

        • yahno

so what if Americans were stupid, what “punishment” do you feel we “deserve”? Just because ” we did it to ourselves” doesn’t mean we should have to live under a Chinese government…we need to stop the behavior and fix the problems. We need to quit being so passive and so pathetic in terms of responsibility for our behavior and make changes in terms of having standards, morals, and realistic consequences…but that does NOT include indentured servitude.

          • Priszilla

no, Detroit and your crime rate are punishment enough.

500 People shot in Detroit each year? Compare that with 28 victims of homicide in Hong Kong per year.

    • Angry Jesus

Whites were the first slaves in the New World followed by the Native American. Slavery exists today and will continue to as long as money changing exists. And yes, I’m still angry.

  • VegasBob

Well, since America as a nation is determined to borrow and spend itself into national bankruptcy, what other alternative do we have but to sell off the United States to our foreign creditors one city at a time?

Nobody else wants Detroit, so we might as well sell it off to the Chinese.

The only way to guarantee a stop to that process is war.

But, if you take a good look at our citizenry, it would appear that we have become too fat, too lazy, and perhaps even too stupid to rescue ourselves from the fate that awaits us.

So we had better start learning Chinese.

    • Richard

Better Red than Dead? No. We either take back our Nation from the Criminals who have taken it away from us or it ain’t worth havin at all.

      • VegasBob

I wish I could bring myself to believe that this country can be saved.

Young people are narcissistic and self-absorbed, spending huge chunks of their waking hours staring at their stupid “smartphones.” Most of them have never taken any kind of physical education class in school.

Huge numbers of middle-aged people are obese slobs, just marking time while they wait for for their next government check.

Old people like me are too frail to do anything but dream of what this country once was.

So who exactly is going to save this country from itself?

I’m beginning to think the situation is hopeless.

One thing is certain. The game will be over and the nation will be lost if we are stupid enough to elect Hitlery in 2016.

        • Richard

Can’t say I disagree with much you said about the state of the Nation Bob. I too am not so young and remember a much Different America than the one we have today. Can the Republic be saved? I don’t know but I for one will go down fightin. God bless my friend

        • laura m.

Couldn’t agree more; I’m a retiree and fed up with my sorry dumbed down generation real losers, there’s only small numbers of thinking patriots in mid aged and older folks. This is why I chose to be a social recluse years ago. I’m not involved in any org, club or voting for decades now. Civic clubs and churches are gov controlled via 501c3 agenda. Leave them now.

    • Kent Harris

Fat and lazy is correct. Americans talk a big game but honestly the citizenry is abysmal to say the least.

    • Mike Smithy

I wouldn’t mind settling our debt with the Chi-coms in exchange for Detroit, New Orleans, New York, Chicago and San Fransicko.

  • PK

I’d rather see the Chinese rescue Detroit than the Muslims.

    • Richard

Neither are in the business of rescuing.

    • SAR

Seriously? So instead of wanting our Republic your siding with the lesser of two evils?

Wow that shows where your allegiance lies.

    • fej

then why do you keep electing a muslim to run the whitehouse ?

      • J A

that muslim marxist homosexual you speak of was designated to go into the white house, as is every other freemason/satanist president in the past few decades. The voting system doesn’t count, it is there to keep the sheep distracted and to give them the sense of “choosing”.

  • j r

    Yeah, China is taking over…

Let’s flash back to 1990…I remember “Japan is taking over” “Japan is buying up everything in the US” “You better learn how to speak Japanese”

Look how that turned out..Right, exactly.

China has been printing money about 5x the volume and speed of the US…They’ll have their crash.

    • Syrin

China has been importing hundreds of tons of gold for years, and mining hundreds of tons of gold. It NEVER leaves China. It might as well disappear into a vacuum. When currencies collapse, a new international gold backed currency will emerge and CHina will be the victor. Japan will not live past 2 generations because of low birth rates. The Chinese will be forced to leave China because they have polluted their nation beyond the ability to sustain life in a single generation. One wrong past prediction has no bearing on future predictions. Logic and analysis of actions are your friend here.

      • Robert Govan

If you want the real gold story do not miss this blog…

      • quercus454

But you can’t eat gold. You can only use it to purchase what you need. If no one is willing to sell, your sol!

    • Richard

Two different Nations and two entirely different scenarios. The Chinese Government’s debt is first backed by gold, more than any Nation in the world and 2nd they use the 2 Trillion plus of our U.S. Government debt obligations to make purchases all over the world before our Dollar dies. The Golden Rule of the Nations is: He who has the Gold makes the Rules. The U.S. used to have the most gold in the world after world war ll and We made the Rules – but not any more. The Bankster Controlled U.S. Government won’t even let auditors or anyone else look inside Ft Knox, much less inventory our Gold. Why? Because it is GONE.

    • Jasmine White

I think the same thing every time I see one of these articles.

  • Robert Govan

Do the dummies in China know that the West is run by ACTORS…..Wellaware1 (dot) com

  • Syrin

Dave Hodges and Jim Garrow say that our mineral rights have been promised to China in exchange for debt forgiveness. The Cliven Bundy ranch has an abundance of mineral resources, and was land that was to be given to the Chinese thanks to traitor Scary Reid, GARY’s hero. Chinese troops have been spotted on their ranch. Beware people. Your gov’t is about to betray you.

    • xander cross

I knew there was more to the story than what the media made it out to be. My only gripe with Cliven Bundy is that he should not have said those racist remarks about black people because one, black people did not have anything to do with the land grab and two, he should have know that journalist from the New York Times was going to set him in a trap and it worked.

      • neal

Those “racist” remarks were edited to distort the image of Bundy. There exists other footage of that media encounter and Bundys remarks are much more reasonable than what was shown. Bundy has black friends and Hispanic friends.

  • Undecider

How are the Chinese going to gentrify all those blacks?

    • Janice

They will export them. As with all gentrifications…those who won’t/can’t assimilate, comply, contribute will be shipped to other locations. One way tickets out of town. Just like we currently do when we want to reclaim an urban area. The government will assist in humaine relocation efforts. That’s how we do it here….the Chinese will replicate a million times over.

  • davidmpark

This is very interesting. All those ghost cities, and they need to develop properties over here? They’re over 160 trillion USD in debt. They are claiming to be hoarding tons of gold; I wanna see proof – and to see if it’s sourced from Fort Knox and Federal Reserve. The Chinese have bought lands using inflated currency; the commie Yuan is only strong if it appears stronger than the USD. Without that comparison, I wouldn’t bother to trade it on FOREX.

So, this is probably just a way to keep the yuan from crashing, and for spread cultural influence.

I wonder when there will be talk of a US/China Union? There was talk of the North American Union (fell through, thank the Good Lord). I just don’t think it will bring the Serenity that folks think. I mean they’re commies and we’re run by nutcase progressives; they’ll take your love, take your land, take you were you cannot stand… guess the only thing left is to get some dirigibles and hope they can’t take the sky from me.

    • Richard

Americans cannot even See our Gold in Ft Knox much less inventory it and you question the hundreds of tons that has been verified in flowing into China over the last several years? Are you delusional or do you think you live in the land of the Free?

      • davidmpark

I believe communists are willing to fake their holdings to look powerful.

        • Richard

Are we Not faking ours? That would seem to be the Greater fake – would it not? The U.S. Fake affects us all here in this Nation, regardless of whether or not he Chinese are Faking theirs.

          • davidmpark

There is evidence that we are faking, too. The German’s asked for a percentage of their gold back recently: Fed Res stalled then finally delivered gold without the German stamp on it and a little lighter in troy oz.

So, yes – you have a point there.

          • Richard

There is much circumstantial evidence (which is all we have to go on) David that we have been lied to by our own. So, the actual state of our holdings is much more important to us than what China has or has not.

    • K

Loved that show. David the North American Union idea is not dead, just on hold. As with so many things, we need to keep our eyes open.

      • davidmpark

I’ve been sitting on that Firefly reference for months! Finally, the appropriate time came!!

  • the truth

Go tour Chinatown in S.F. or anywhere else and you’ll have a great time.

    • Orange Jean

      I don’t agree…

I used to work at a Tufts University research center in Chinatown in Boston – prefectly horrible place, and makes you think twice about eating at any “Chinese” restaurant… the streets were filthy, they just dump garbage into the streets (sounds like the pollution issue in China) … lots of rats! And it was a real magnet for drunks. Walking the 15 minutes from my subway stop to work I often had to weave my way around passed out drunks vs. garbage.

      • K

Jean, don’t you know that does not matter? That one person knows a nice Chinese couple next door. In America you ignore all the evidence, and base your decisions on the nice couple next door. Now we see the long term effect, of a failed education system.

        • Orange Jean

          Good points, K!

      • Guest

I’ve worked behind the scenes in many restaurants. ALL have rats running over the dishes and stove at night. Big fat ones that are well fed. Yes, even the fancy restaurants.

  • Tex May

Well it has worked out well in Vancouver so far.

  • Haime564

Trading the futures is where the new money is at the best website I’ve found so far is a place called Traders Superstore Google them and you should be able to find them. I have all four of their courses and now trading for myself. The futures is where all the action is now and I never knew how much money there is to make in trading the futures until now.

Maybe the black man will scare them away….or they might join forces to Kill Whitey 😛

    • J A

do so before it’s too late. seriously. i weep for my “everything is ok, it can wait” family and friends that are still there and have no idea what is coming.

This is a very positive development! I was a young man in the Navy and visited Hong Kong for the first time. No place conjured up the mysteries of the Far East like Hong Kong! My ship anchored in the magnificent harbor and a boat service, the “walla walla”, was hired to ferry us from ship to shore. I left the ship on liberty call at 10AM and made some small talk with the Pilot. I came back at 6PM and left again at 7PM. Same Pilot. At 4AM, after a long evening of liquor, women and song I returned. There was the Pilot. I asked him if he ever slept. His reply has stayed with me to this day. He said, “when you leave, I sleep”. We were there four days and he was as good as his word. This sums up the Chinese Work Ethic in a nutshell: When there is money to be made, everything else can wait. That lesson is not lost on the Governor of Michigan. He is absolutely right. Detroit is a city that looked to government in the form of the Democratic Party for its salvation and – like Carthage – has been nearly razed to the ground! Give the Chinese special trade zone status and in 20 years Detroit will be Hong Kong. I saw the pattern repeated time and again throughout the Pacific. There were the natives, usually impoverished and drunk, and the real powers behind the throne, the Chinese (and the Indians) whose forebears more often than not came to work as laborers on the plantations, little more than slaves really but they saved 50% of everything they made, Their descendants would end up owning the place. Read Hawaii by Michener who details the life of one Chinese family to get an idea of this phenomenon. Remember, just 40 years ago, China was a Rickshaw Economy. We gave them the opening. They can, did and always will take advantage.

  • Darth Maul

    Nothing to worry about.

    Everything is fine.

    The economy is doing well.

Apple shares have just risen above 600.

The whole stock market shows that we have a great economy.

    This is just fear mongering.

Every family should be like the Duggar family, right? Get real, dude.

      • Right, but I’m not talking about EVERY family or person, but only those can and will be good parents like the Duggar are. We need to totally stop subsidizing irresponsible reproduction by anyone. No more Democrat trash having loads of kids at government expense. Then we can start to recover our country. Google “FounderChurch”

        • Guest

Jim Duggar is a very wealthy man. There are relatively few married couples in this country who can afford to have as many children as the Duggars. The good-paying jobs are gone.

Also, it is NOT a sin for a married couple to use contraceptives. And you cannot prove from Scripture that it is.

I don’t think anyone here takes you seriously. You think “Founder Church” is the ONLY true church in America. That mentality is the first sign of a cult. But maybe Founder Church isn’t really a church at all but the product of your silly imagination.

          • You are so deficient “Guest.” Try to use your head for a change. You are bigoted and I’m not going to waste my time talking to you about anything. Get educated, please. You are just a run of the mill Democrat Liberal trying to appear smart. HA!

          • Guest

A run of the mill Democrat? That is utterly ridiculous! You don’t know me from Adam. I have NO political affiliation, and I have not voted for a long time. I’m a Bible believing Christian.

You simply cannot refute the points in my previous comment which is why you say you’re not going to waste your time.

As for your admonition for me to “get educated”, I think YOU are the one who needs an education. You think the Republican party is the answer to this nation’s problems! You’re silly.

  • Charlotte

My husband grew up in a Detroit suburb, and his parents still live just a few houses down from the Detroit city line (they can’t afford to move). Honestly, I’d much rather see Detroit taken over by the Chinese than left to the gangbangers that rule it today. It’s a post-apocalyptic wasteland right now.

    • K

Perhaps the question is, why when the US is still sending many billions of dollars overseas, you feel those are the only 2 choices for Detroit. Any chance this situation has been manipulated, so the chinese presence will be more acceptable?

    • xander cross

Be careful of what you ask for. I know why you saying this because of black people in the city, but when the Chinesse take over and start buying your internet companies, lets see what happens when you cant access this site?

      • Charlotte

Well, it wasn’t the Chinese who broke into my car, broke into my garage, stole gas, stole my baby stroller, and shot out the back windows and slashed the tires of all my Hispanic neighbors as revenge for Trayvon Martin. I think the fears of the Chinese government forcing some kind of hostile takeover of Detroit may be a bit overblown. Fears of getting killed by a gangbanger, however, are very real. Too many have died from home invasions in my area lately.

        • xander cross

Well, it wasn’t black people who sent the manufacturing jobs to china and it wasn’t black people that sends billions of dollars to China and selling weapons to other countries. Fears about China and Russia attacking American are very real and fears of white people selling children to the highest bidder is real as well. Too many have died and raped by white people.

  • Seerightthere!

I have lived in Detroit so I speak from personal experience, Detroit is the first Islamic African State in The U.S. I’m not sure the Chinese will want it.

    • Charlotte

True. Arabs were the first foreign group Detroit courted for investment a few years back.

  • needahbeh

The problem starts when the area is declared a foreign free trade zone, where American law no longer applies!

  • kathym2

When the Detroit gangs start shooting up and stealing from their newly bought houses and businesses, I dont think even the Chinese would want to stay.

    • K

Hi Kathy. The chinese when present in sufficient numbers, often form protective associations. You may want to google chinese tongs. Or the even darker side, triads.

    • J A

the chinese will not hesitate to clean up the filth around neighboring plundering cities. they are just as much animal as the muslims and blacks all over the world.

  • Patriot Alice

Debt is our biggest problem. If we don’t have the courage to reduce our debt, we will just continue the decline. The same people who don’t want to live within our means, are the people who hate our country! Cut taxes and spending drastically, is the only way out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’ve heard their excuses a thousand times. Just do it!

    • Tom_F

You are right. And not only the government debt, but the US citizens who benefit. 70% of Federal outlay goes to US citizens in entitlements. Do you want to tell them they will have do take less? It doesn’t seem likely, and there is nothing in it for the politicians to do so. And, right on time, here come the Chinese! Detroit can only get better.

    • Drud

I agree that debt is our biggest problem, but the debt, just the current debt w/o unfunded liabilities, can NEVER be paid off. What people fail to grasp is that in a debt-based fiat currency system MONEY=DEBT. You can never use an instrument of debt to repay debt. There are only three ways out: 1) Hyperinflation. 2) Default. or 3) Jubilee. 1&2 devastate the entire system and cause chaos. 3 could work if it were just the US, but jubilee could never be effective in the “globalized” world, also, it hurts the banking elite most, so they would never let their puppets in government even mention the concept to the dumbed-down general public.

  • Kent Harris

Never bail out government that should pay for its actions. Detroit was poorly runned and for them to receive a bailout teaches them nothing. The best thing is allow that city to be forced to go through a bankruptcy so that they can get rid of all their dead weight. Those pension program would be the first thing on the chopping block and then to cut the government staff. It should be run like a business.

  • Joe

  • DJohn1

I have an idea. Let them come in. But make them obey all the same rules as everyone else has to obey here. I think they will be gone within the year.
That means the rules put out by the Detroit Zoning Board.
The rules of inspection before a property can be sold. Half the houses or more in Detroit are not sellable. They cannot pass an inspection.
    Green Cards for everyone.
    Infernal Taxes for everyone.
EPA rules for any business they start.
I am all for equal employment. Let them hire the people in Detroit to do business.
Make sure they only use licenced electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc.
My hero has always been Helen Hunt of the great depression in this country. She would not buy any stock in any company that she would not own the product they sold herself. And if she was not happy with the product, she sold the stock immediately.
Well, according to the surveys put out by consumers, for consumers, GM products are the trailing edge of repair.
That is the real reason that GM is broke. No one will buy a product that breaks before the loan is up. That is why Detroit is destroyed right now.
You want back in the automobile game? Put out a reasonable car at a price people can afford. Put out a car that people can keep long enough to pay for it. If I need to change a part, put it where I can get to it. That means starters, alternators, spark plugs, etc.
Half of America used to keep their own cars going. Until Detroit decided to make that impossible.
Well, Detroit is paying the price for that greed.
China will have to put out a car that people can afford and keep repaired by poor people. If they can do that, then they will own this country outright within five years. Oh, I guess they all ready do.

  • Nicknakthetruthspeaker

Is Boston the first Irish city in America?

Is Miami the first Latino city in America?

Is Minneapolis the first Swedish city in America?

Is the point of this post to generate bigoted commentary towards Chinese Americans or Black Americans? It’s not clear to me which – be more specific next time.

    • Dan

I don’t think its bigotry so much. The Irish, the “Latinos” and the Swedes were never considered to be potential geopolitical enemies.

  • Grinding Ax

oh but you already have chinese, russians and muslims all over. sharia law is being respected in some places. wake up.

Let the Chinese in. They can find out about high property taxes, dysfunctional local city government and armed, vicious natives. There are reasons that Detroit has so many empty homes.

  • GaryA

What everybody is missing is that our debt is NOT collateralized and based exclusively on faith. China or any other country cannot take anything from US – they are on a hook, just like Japan was 1990s. They are idiots and already started to realize it. Dollar will collapse just like pound collapsed in Britain in 1960s. What will be the new currency? Probably Chinese backed by gold. So what – we have all the creativity talent and know how – we will start over.

  • cpgone

At this point ,lock and load, prep, buy what the Chinese are buying and or try and supply them

China taking over Detroit wouldn’t be entirely negative – they would be more likely to recognise the Muslim problem and act on it. China will tolerate less BS from Middle East Islamic nations as well. We are turning Communist and ignoring other evils. At least China recognizes other evils.

    • cpgone

Yes and no. MOst likely the chinesse will marginalize the Muslim driving them to other areas where lazy PC Americans tolerate them

  • piccadillybabe

Don’t mean to sound anti-American but if Detroit is a *ell hole which is the consensus of opinion these days, perhaps the Chinese can turn it around responsibly and ethically. Just look at all the problems General Motors has had as of late, billions of dollars in recalls due to negligence, not caring about their product or the consumer and just wanting to make a huge profits in light of the fact that they were bailed out royally by the feds to save their butts 5 years ago. We owe the Chinese and are indebted to them and nothing is going to change that fact.
Detroit might end up a technologically cutting-edge city of the future under Chinese directives. I may be overly optimistic but they are known to have some of the finest/best engineers in the world.

The first wave of Chinese will have to start the companies and grease the politicians skids prior to the second and massive wave. The first wave of workers will have to get used to living with the bogey man. Once everything settles out over several decades, property values will rise and bring a new renaissance to Detroit. Of course there will be issues along the road. There will be rampant cries of racism during the transition phase. The local underbelly will despise the new found prosperity and demand employment. The only problem is that there will be limited janitorial positions.

I’ve been in china for a week now. It’s crazy over here. I can see why they want to get the f out. Smog is out of control. It’s awesome though. Lots of American cars and iPhones. I even saw one Cadillac and one Harley rolling down the ave. In beijing. Definitely a different world. The government is running the show with a heavy hand. A lot of websites are blocked. No Facebook, twitter. I’ve see a couple negative headlines on google news, then when I click on the story it will be blocked. I don’t know who’s going through all the trouble. Cameras everywhere too. Tienamin square was crazy with army and police checking bags and visas. I guess they have enough people here to keep an eye on everything. Lots of poor people, but a surprising amount of wealthy too. I’ve seen some of the factory towns now that I am in another part of the country. Massive cities of high rises just to house the workers. Something else here man, oh and it does not stop 24 hours a day. Another 3 weeks here I’ll report back with some more sights in a few.

Three Bible verses that explicitly mention the word “house” in relation to God “judging” the Israelites with homelessness or landlessness, because of sin. The same is happening right now in America!!

    Deuteronomy 28:30

Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her: thou shalt build an HOUSE, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.

    Jeremiah 6:12-13

And their HOUSES shall be turned unto others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand upon the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD.

For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely.

    Amos 5:11

Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built HOUSES of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.

So Chinese citizens are taking their money and buying (gutted, uninhabitable) homes in Detroit? Big deal. The only winner here is the city of Detroit that will have someone to bleed for taxes.

    • Cynical Guy 42

Interesting point. If it weren’t for those Chinese citizens moving in, a lot of these homes would be left empty, even at the price of $1.

  • Albert8184

I’m convinced this is a great idea. Let the Chinese come. And watch how the entrenched welfare classes, street dwellers and Libtards of Detroit hate it. Be interesting to see how they react to the economic success and prosperity that the Chinese immigrants will undoubtedly create and enjoy.
