Can anyone explain to me what just happened?  The last 24 hours have been beyond weird.  Just hours ago, everyone was freaking out because Iran had just fired a bunch of missiles at a major U.S. military base in Qatar.  But then we found out that most of the missiles were intercepted, not a single person was hurt, and very little damage was done.  On top of everything else, President Trump announced that the Iranians had informed the U.S. that the missiles were coming in advance…

Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a nonthreatening direction. I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

The entire thing was staged!

What a joke.

What is the purpose of conducting such a charade?

Nobody was fooled.

The good news, as Scott Jennings has aptly pointed out, is that this essentially represents a “complete and total capitulation” by Iran…

The Iranians wanted to “save face” by firing off some missiles, but they also apparently wanted an exit ramp.

Thankfully, President Trump was quite eager to offer them one.

Very soon after the Iranian missile attack failed, negotiations for a ceasefire were initiated…

• After the attack Iran sent a message to the White House through Qatar that it will not conduct any further attacks, a source with direct knowledge told Axios.
• The White House sent a message back via the Qataris stressing that it will not retaliate to the Iranian attack and that the U.S. is ready to resume negotiations with Iran.
• Afterward, talks continued between the U.S. and Israel and between Qatar and Iran to agree on the terms of the ceasefire and the time it would begin.
• During the mediation efforts on Monday, Trump spoke to both Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Emir of Qatar Tamim al-Thani. Vice President Vance spoke to Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Abdul Rahman al-Thani.

Everything went smoothly, and shortly thereafter President Trump announced that an agreement for a ceasefire had been reached…

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE! It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE (in approximately 6 hours from now, when Israel and Iran have wound down and completed their in progress, final missions!), for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED! Officially, Iran will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 12th Hour, Israel will start the CEASEFIRE and, upon the 24th Hour, an Official END to THE 12 DAY WAR will be saluted by the World. During each CEASEFIRE, the other side will remain PEACEFUL and RESPECTFUL. On the assumption that everything works as it should, which it will, I would like to congratulate both Countries, Israel and Iran, on having the Stamina, Courage, and Intelligence to end, what should be called, “THE 12 DAY WAR.” This is a War that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will! God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!

When I first saw that, I could hardly believe my eyes.

Could it be true?

Almost immediately, a CNN report contradicted what Trump had announced…

Just an hour before President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran, CNN reported citing a senior Iranian official that the country had not seen any ceasefire proposal, and reportedly saw no reason for one.

The official went on to say that Iran would continue to fight until it achieves a “lasting peace” and adding that it would view remarks from Israel and the US as “a deception” intended to justify attacks on Iran’s interests.

“At this very moment, the enemy is committing aggression against Iran, and Iran is on the verge of intensifying its retaliatory strikes, with no ear to listen to the lies of its enemies,” the official told CNN.

But then Reuters did confirm that the Iranians had agreed to a ceasefire…

While an Iranian official confirmed that Tehran had agreed to a ceasefire, there was no immediate comment yet from Israel.

A senior White House official said Israel had agreed so long as Iran does not launch further attacks and that Trump brokered the deal in a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

If this ceasefire holds, that will be a wonderful thing for the entire world.

President Trump is convinced that it is “going to go forever”…

Separately, Trump tells NBC News that he expects the Israel-Iran ceasefire to last “forever.”

“I think the ceasefire is unlimited. It’s going to go forever,” he says.

Hopefully he is right.

But there were explosions in Tehran just a little while ago.

So we shall see what happens.

If the war does end now, there are still so many unanswered questions.

Was Iran’s nuclear program completely destroyed?

In particular, to what extent was the underground facility at Fordo destroyed?

And will the Iranians now rush to rebuild their nuclear program?

If they don’t rebuild their nuclear program, they could ask the North Koreans to provide them with nuclear warheads instead.

Dmitry Medvedev has posted a new message in which he warns that such a scenario could happen…

“Regarding President Trump’s concerns: I condemn the US strike on Iran—it failed to achieve its objectives,” Medvedev, a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, said in a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter, on Monday.

“However, Russia has no intention of supplying nuclear weapons to Iran because, unlike Israel, we are parties to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. I know quite well what this would entail, having overseen our nuclear forces as president.”

“But other countries might—and that’s what was said. And we definitely shouldn’t be arguing over who has more nukes. All the more so because the New START treaty, which I once signed with a US president, is still in force—for now,” he said.

As long as the current regime in Iran remains in power, the threat is still there.

And the Iranians will not forget what has happened because they have a very long memory.

So let’s rejoice if this ceasefire works, but let us also remember that we are in a season of “wars and rumors of wars” when things can change dramatically at any moment.

Yes, Iran has been wounded severely.

But I don’t think this is the last that we will hear from the Iranians.

Our way of life depends on cheap energy.  If you remove cheap energy from the equation, our society will be thrown into a state of chaos.  The Iranians know that closing the Strait of Hormuz is one of the most powerful forms of leverage that they possess, because the world is deeply dependent on the oil that travels through that waterway.  We don’t know exactly how this crisis will play out, because the Strait of Hormuz has never been closed in modern times.  But as I pointed out earlier this month, we were warned that Israel would attack Iran, the global price of oil would rise, and the increase in the price of oil would be blamed on Israel.  And that is precisely what has happened.  Israel has attacked Iran, the global price of oil has been increasing, and many are blaming Israel for what has transpired.  Unfortunately, the truth is that this crisis is just getting started.

On Sunday, it was being reported that the Iranian Parliament “has approved a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz”…

The Iranian Parliament has approved a measure to close the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil choke point, after the United States bombed three nuclear sites in Iran, according to Iranian state media on Sunday.

While the Parliament has voted in favor of closing the strait, the final decision rests with the country’s Supreme National Security Council, according to state media.

Of course the Iranian Parliament never would have held this vote if the Supreme National Security Council had not already decided what it was going to do.

At a time when the regime is under threat, there is no way that we are going to be shown any signs of disunity among Iranian leaders.

So what does this mean?

It means that the price of oil is going to go higher.

A lot higher.

JPMorgan is projecting that we could see the price of oil hit $130 a barrel in a “worst-case scenario”…

Investors predict a “knee-jerk” reaction, with oil prices expected to spike due to fears of disrupted Middle East supplies. Brent crude, already up 20% over the past month to $79.04, could climb toward $130 per barrel in a worst-case scenario, according to JPMorgan.

I agree that we could see the price of oil soon hit $130 a barrel.

But if the Strait of Hormuz stays closed for an extended period of time, it will go a lot higher than that.

In a previous article, I warned that if the price of oil rises above $100 a barrel and stays there, it will immediately push the global economy into a recession.

And I also warned that if the price of oil rises above $200 a barrel and stays there, it will immediately push the global economy into a depression.

Yes, we really are facing a worldwide economic depression if this crisis is not resolved.

Because of how narrow it is, the Iranians can shut down the Strait of Hormuz quite easily…

The strait connecting the Gulf of Oman with the Persian Gulf is one of the world’s most critical chokepoints — just 20 miles wide at its narrowest point.

Shipping lanes in the strait — the area that is deep enough for ships to pass — are even narrower at less than two miles wide in each direction, making them much more vulnerable to attacks and threats of closure.

The Iranians have been planning for such a scenario for many years, and they definitely have the resources to pull it off.

The reason why the Strait of Hormuz is so important is because approximately 20 percent of all global oil production travels through it…

About 20% of global oil and gas flow through the strait, which lies between Oman and Iran, and its closure could mean rising fuel prices for American consumers.

How will the world economy function when most oil exports from the Middle East are suddenly cut off?

That is a very good question.

It is being projected that economies in Asia will be hit the hardest…

The bulk of all oil exported by the regional petro giants, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, all travel through this narrow waterway.

Asia is likely to bear the brunt most from any closures to the waterway, with China, India, Japan and South Korea all getting most of their oil imports through the strait.

Thankfully, the U.S. has become a lot less dependent on foreign oil in recent years.

At this point we purchase “less than 3 percent of the oil coming out of the Persian Gulf”…

By contrast, the United States buys less than 3 percent of the oil coming out of the Persian Gulf, notably from northern Saudi Arabia. The United States became an overall net exporter of oil in 2020 as fracking technologies enabled a big increase in domestic oil production.

But ultimately everyone will be affected because oil is a global commodity.

It will be fascinating to see how this crisis plays out.  Even before the Iranian Parliament voted, one oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz suddenly reversed course once news broke that the U.S. had bombed Iran…

I don’t know if I even have the words to describe how serious this crisis could become.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is urging China to convince Iran to keep the Strait of Hormuz open…

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Sunday called for China to prevent Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important trade routes for crude oil in the world.

“I encourage the Chinese government in Beijing to call them about that, because they heavily depend on the Straits of Hormuz for their oil,” Rubio said in an interview on Fox News. China is Iran’s most important oil customer and maintains friendly relations with the Islamic Republic.

And he is also warning that the U.S. military could get involved if the Iranians really do shut it down…

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called it a “suicide mission,” adding it would be a massive escalation that would merit a response from the US and others.

He said: “If they do that, it will be another terrible mistake. It’s economic suicide for them if they do it.

“And we retain options to deal with that, but other countries should be looking at that as well. It would hurt other countries’ economies a lot worse than ours.”

Of course it would not be easy for the U.S. or any other major power to conduct an operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Any ships that enter the Strait of Hormuz would be sitting ducks for the Iranian missile launchers that have been dug deep into the cliffs that overlook the waterway.

Let me add another layer to all of this.

A tremendous amount of fertilizer also travels through the Strait of Hormuz, and that has very serious implications.  The following comes from a Zero Hedge article entitled “Global Fertilizer Market Thrown In Chaos After Mideast War Shutters Iran Urea Production”…

“Iran was the third-largest urea exporter in 2024, according to StoneX, with export volumes of around 4.5 million tons – about the size of China’s. The country has a production capacity of around 8.9 million tons a year, Milam added, serving markets in Turkey, Brazil and Argentina, among others. It is also an exporter of ammonia.”

“In addition to knocking Iranian urea production offline, the attacks also brought Egypt’s operations to a standstill,” Ward reported. “Israel reduced its natural gas flows to the country on Friday, prompting Egypt to cease production.”

AgWeb’s Margy Eckelkamp reported that “Linville’s colleague at StoneX, Arlan Suderman, details why this conflict is being watched so carefully if the concern isn’t in those two countries’ production. ‘There’s a lot of other producers of fertilizer in the Middle East and a lot of it also passes through the Strait of Hormuz, which will be at risk going forward now,’ Suderman says. From a global supply standpoint, Suderman also points out the Ukrainian attack of one of Russia’s largest nitrogen fertilizer plants two weeks ago.”

Global fertilizer production was already being squeezed in a number of different ways even before Iran was attacked.

If fertilizer exports are not allowed to travel through the Strait of Hormuz, that could trigger famines in many areas of the planet.

Needless to say, famine is another one of the major themes that we have been anticipating.

We really are living in unprecedented times.

Now that missiles are flying and bombs are being dropped, there will be no going back to the way that things were.

War with Iran is the biggest news story of 2025 so far, and it is also one of the biggest events of this entire period in human history.  Decisions that global leaders will be making in the weeks and months to come will have very serious implications for all of us.  Right now, we are waiting to see if President Trump will give the green light for U.S. air strikes in Iran.  Earlier today, we were informed that Trump will make this decision “within the next two weeks”…

President Donald Trump said there was a “substantial chance” of U.S. negotiations with Iran and that he would decide within two weeks whether diplomacy keeps America out of the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

The statement took down the temperature as the world waited for news of whether he would commit U.S. forces to Israel’s campaign against Tehran’s nuclear program.

“Based on the fact that there’s a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks,” press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, quoting Trump.

That doesn’t mean that President Trump will make his decision two weeks from now.

“Within the next two weeks” means that a decision could come at any point within that time frame.

According to one anonymous U.S. official, Trump “wants to keep his options open until the very last moment”…

Trump remained hesitant to commit, wary of a prolonged foreign conflict he has long vowed to avoid, on Thursday. “There are a lot of things in motion,” a US official said, “but the President wants to keep his options open until the very last moment.” Trump’s top priority, according to insiders, is to avoid a drawn-out military entanglement.

While he is open to arguments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that only American power can cripple Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the president has so far resisted calls for immediate intervention.

Trump seemed to personally confirm this when he told reporters in the Oval Office that he prefers “to make the final decision one second before it’s due”…

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump confirmed: “I like to make the final decision one second before it’s due. Especially with war, things change with war. It can go from one extreme to the other.”

I think that Trump would prefer to make a deal with Iran if that is still possible.

But the Iranians have given no indication that they are willing to give in to Trump’s demands.

Ultimately, Trump is still determined to bring Iran’s nuclear program to an end one way or another.

Either the Iranians will agree to destroy it, or the U.S. and Israel will destroy it.

In order for the U.S. and Israel to destroy it, the underground nuclear facility at Fordow will have to be taken out, and that will not be easy…

President Trump has been briefed on both the risks and the benefits of bombing Fordo, Iran’s most secure nuclear site, and his mindset is that disabling it is necessary because of the risk of weapons being produced in a relatively short period of time, multiple sources told CBS News.

“He believes there’s not much choice,” one source said. “Finishing the job means destroying Fordo.”

Israel cannot destroy Fordow by air, because it has no way to deliver 30,000 pound bunker-buster bombs.

That is why we would have to drop those bombs.

But even some U.S. officials have doubts that those bombs would be enough to destroy the facility at Fordow…

Donald Trump has suggested to defense officials it would make sense for the US to launch strikes against Iran only if the so-called “bunker buster” bomb was guaranteed to destroy the critical uranium enrichment facility at Fordow, according to people familiar with the deliberations.

Trump was told that dropping the GBU-57s, a 13.6-tonne (30,000lb) bomb would effectively eliminate Fordow but he does not appear to be fully convinced, the people said, and has held off authorizing strikes as he also awaits the possibility that the threat of US involvement would lead Iran to talks.

The effectiveness of GBU-57s has been a topic of deep contention at the Pentagon since the start of Trump’s term, according to two defense officials who were briefed that perhaps only a tactical nuclear weapon could be capable of destroying Fordow because of how deeply it is located.

President Trump doesn’t want to launch a mission that is going to fail.

If those giant bombs don’t work, he will look quite foolish, and he very much wants to avoid that.

But Fordow is the key to this entire conflict.

If Fordow is still operating when this is all over, it will be a major victory for Iran.

The Israelis are absolutely determined to keep that from happening.

If President Trump decides not to give the green light for air strikes on Iran, the Israelis have already indicated that they will send commandos in to take Fordow out…

• Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter hinted in recent interviews that the Israel Defense Forces have options beyond just airstrikes.
• One could be a risky commando raid. Israeli special forces conducted such an operation last September, albeit on a smaller scale, when they destroyed an underground missile factory in Syria by planting and detonating explosives.
• Now that Israel has full control of Iran’s air space and has dealt a heavy blow to Iran’s military, that option appears less extreme than it otherwise would.
• A U.S. official said the Israelis told the Trump administration that while they may not be able to reach deep enough into the mountain with bombs, they may “do it with humans.”

It would be an extremely risky operation.

But the IDF demonstrated that they could pull off such an operation when they took out the underground missile factory in Syria last September…

Shoshani added that the nighttime raid was ‘one of the more complex operations the IDF has done in recent years’. Accompanied by airstrikes, it involved dozens of aircraft and around 100 helicopter-borne troops, he said.

‘At the end of the raid, the troops dismantled the facility, including the machines and the manufacturing equipment, themselves,’ he claimed.

Of course destroying Fordow would be much more difficult.

And there are so many ways that an operation of such complexity could go horribly wrong.

But if Trump doesn’t decide to use bunker-buster bombs, this may be the only way that Israeli leaders can achieve their goals.

We shall see what happens.

Meanwhile, missiles continue to fly back and forth between Israel and Iran.

Just hours ago, an Iranian missile hit one of Israel’s most important hospitals…

Black smoke was still billowing from the middle of the Soroka Medical Center when we arrived, several hours after Iran’s attack on the building.

Pieces of twisted metal shrapnel – some of it apparently from the missile itself – scattered across a 200m (656ft) area in and around the hospital complex.

Vehicles carrying medical staff lined the road outside – an emergency response to a situation that many had feared would be worse.

Needless to say, Israeli leaders are extremely angry, and they are vowing to get revenge…

Iran said the primary target of the attack that hit the Soroka Hospital was an Israeli military intelligence site, not the health facility, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the attack and vowed a response, saying: “We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran.”

Israel Katz, the country’s Minister of Defense, accused Iran of “war crimes of the most serious kind” and said Ayatollah Khamenei “will be held accountable for his crimes.”

The IDF continues to hammer high value targets inside Iran as well.  Last night dozens of targets were hit, and this included a strike on Iran’s Arak heavy water reactor.  The following is an excerpt from an official statement by the IDF…

Overnight (Thursday), 40 IAF fighter jets, with the precise intelligence direction of the IDF Intelligence Directorate, struck dozens of military targets in Tehran and additional areas throughout Iran, using over 100 munitions.

As part of the strikes, and as part of the broad effort to prevent the Iranian regime from obtaining a nuclear weapon, the nuclear reactor in the area of Arak in Iran was targeted, including the structure of the reactor’s core seal, which is a key component in plutonium production.

Construction of the reactor began in 1997 but was not completed due to international community intervention.

The reactor was originally intended for the production of weapons-grade plutonium, capable of enabling the development of nuclear weapons. In light of various agreements, in recent years the Iranian regime advanced its conversion to produce low-grade plutonium, which is not suitable for the production of nuclear weapons. However, the regime deliberately ordered not to complete the conversion that would have prevented its use for nuclear weapons — in order to exert pressure on the West.

The strike targeted the component intended for plutonium production, in order to prevent the reactor from being restored and used for nuclear weapons development.

We are seeing so much death and destruction on both sides.

And unless Iran surrenders and gives up all nuclear enrichment, it will continue for the foreseeable future.

Ominously, a third U.S. aircraft carrier is now being moved into the region…

The USS Gerald R. Ford, the Navy’s newest aircraft carrier, will set sail for the Mediterranean as the Israel-Iran conflict continues to escalate.

The ship is expected to sail to Europe possibly next week, making it the third US aircraft carrier group in the region, the New York Post reported. The voyage is part of a regularly scheduled deployment.

The ship will join the USS Carl Vinson and the USS Nimitz in the region.

In April, I warned my readers about this exact scenario.

Now it is playing out right in front of our eyes.

This conflict is a “spark” that is going to change so much in our world.

We enjoyed so many years of peace and stability in the post-World War II era, but now those times are gone.

The dogs of war have been unleashed, and the days ahead are going to be absolutely insane.

Events are moving so rapidly in the Middle East now that it is almost impossible to keep up with it all.  We are literally watching history in the making, and our world is going to be a much different place once this is all over.  There are some allies of President Trump that are absolutely thrilled with what is happening, and there are other allies of President Trump that are absolutely horrified.  But nobody should be surprised by what is happening, because we knew that this was coming.  We have been on the verge of a final showdown with Iran for years, and now that final showdown has officially arrived.

There are some that are still hoping that there will be a “ceasefire” or some sort of a “peace agreement” that will stop the fighting.

But three messages that President Trump just posted on his Truth Social account make it abundantly clear that the fate of Iran’s nuclear program will be decided now.

The first message that he posted instantly made headlines all over the globe…

Wow.

When he used the word “we”, what exactly did Trump mean?

That is what everyone wants to know.

At this moment, Israel certainly has control over the skies in Iran.

By using “we”, Trump made it sound like he has already decided that the U.S. will soon be participating in offensive operations against Iran.

He also used the word “we” at the beginning of the second message that he posted…

At least for now?

This is literally a threat to kill Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Threatening to kill the leader of another nation is a very serious thing.

As I discussed in a previous article, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is a direct descendant of Muhammad.

There are somewhere around 200 million Shia Muslims in the world, and they would go nuts if bunker buster bombs were used to destroy the bunker that Khamenei is hiding in.

Of course Khamenei is no Boy Scout.  He has been responsible for all sorts of atrocities all over the planet.

But Trump is essentially threatening to bring the entire Islamic regime in Iran to an end, and that is a very dangerous thing to do.

Because a cornered predator is the most dangerous kind of predator.

In his third message, Trump used just two words.

He is demanding “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” from Iran…

That floored me.

The last time an opponent refused a demand from the United States to unconditionally surrender, two really big bombs got dropped.

I don’t see the regime in Iran ever agreeing to this.

In fact, I think that they would rather fight to the death.

But there is no turning back now.

When reporters aboard Air Force One asked Trump what he wants, Trump told them that he wants “an end” to Iran’s nuclear program…

‘An end. A real end. Not a cease fire. An end,’ he said.

‘I’m not looking at ceasefire. We’re looking at better than ceasefire,’ Trump told reporters on Air Force One.

He was blunt in his assessment on Iran’s nuclear program.

‘Remember, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. It’s very simple. Not to go too deep into it, but they just can’t have a nuclear weapon.

One way or another, we are headed for some sort of a resolution.

According to Axios, U.S. officials are saying that President Trump “is seriously considering joining the war”…

The U.S. officials said Trump is seriously considering joining the war and launching a U.S. strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities, especially its underground uranium enrichment facility in Fordow.

Israel needs our help to destroy the underground facilities at Fordow and Trump knows this.

There was a meeting of the National Security Council today, and it was being reported that strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities were “on the table” during that meeting…

U.S. strikes against targets inside of Iran, including nuclear facilities, are “on the table” during a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) currently taking place in the White House Situation Room, according to officials who spoke with Fox News.

Of course the U.S. military has already been making preparations for such an option.

Newsweek is telling us that more fighter jets are being deployed to the Middle East right now…

The U.S. military is increasing its air power in the Middle East by deploying additional fighter jets and extending current warplane missions as the conflict between Israel and Iran intensifies, three U.S. officials told Reuters.

One official confirmed the move includes the deployment of advanced aircraft such as F-16s, F-22s and F-35s, aimed at reinforcing American military presence and deterrence in the volatile region.

Interestingly, it appears that many of the refueling tankers that are headed to the Middle East from bases in Europe are towing fighter aircraft behind them…

Close to 20 U.S. Air Force KC-135 and KC-46 Aerial-Refueling Tankers lifted-off this morning from airbases across Europe, heading in the direction of the Middle East, with most of the tankers appearing to be towing fighter aircraft, likely including F-15s, F-16s, F-22s, and F-35s, all moving now towards U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).

On top of everything else, four B-52 bombers that could be used to bomb Iran’s nuclear facilities are currently sitting on a runway at Diego Garcia…

Meanwhile, it emerged that four U.S. B-52 Stratofortress bombers are currently stationed at the Diego Garcia base in the Indian Ocean, within striking distance of Iran.

The B-52s, which can carry nuclear weapons or other precision-guided bombs, were spotted on a runway at Diego Garcia on Monday.

If the Iranians intend to give Trump what he wants, they should do so now.

Otherwise, they will soon learn a firsthand lesson in what “shock and awe” really means.

Personally, I think that the Iranians will go down fighting, because surrendering to the U.S. and Israel would go against everything that they believe.

And the Iranians may still have some “surprises” up their sleeves.

There has been some concern that Iran may choose to use unconventional weapons at some point, and I was quite alarmed to hear that a “nuke sniffer” had been deployed over the continental United States…

In a rare and highly symbolic move, a U.S. WC-135R “Constant Phoenix” aircraft – known as a nuclear detection or “sniffer” plane, took off tonight from Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska, the headquarters of U.S. Strategic Command.

The aircraft is currently flying unusual patterns across several northern U.S. states, triggering speculation among military analysts and open-source intelligence trackers.

This specialized plane, one of only three in existence, is designed to detect airborne radioactive particles and potential nuclear fallout in real time. Its deployment typically signals serious nuclear concerns.

Hopefully there is no reason for alarm.

The Iranians could also escalate matters by trying to draw other Islamic nations into the conflict.

Ominously, 22 Islamic nations have already issued a joint statement in which they strongly condemned Israel’s military operation…

The Muslim majority countries expressed “categorical rejection and condemnation of Israel’s recent attacks on the Islamic Republic of Iran since the 13th of June 2025,” adding concerns about the “unprecedented escalation of tensions in the Middle East, particularly owing to the ongoing military aggression of Israel against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

A statement published by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry included the Gulf countries of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain, as well some African countries, Turkey, Indonesia and others. The conflict has disrupted air traffic over some of those countries, many of which are also U.S. allies.

A lot of people out there seem to think that this crisis will come to a quick end.

Personally, I have a feeling that this is a story that is going to take some time to fully play out.

But without a doubt, we are headed for some sort of a resolution.

The final showdown with Iran is here, and it appears that things are about to get really messy.

Was there a time when humanity possessed technology that is even more advanced than we possess today?  Using radar signals sent from two different satellites hovering high above our planet, a team of scientists has discovered that there are absolutely colossal man-made structures underneath the Giza pyramids in Egypt.  These structures are far larger than the pyramids themselves, and that is truly impressive because the Great Pyramid is so large that you can actually see it from space.  And apparently these structures were designed for some sort of a purpose, but our best minds can only speculate as to what that purpose might have been because it appears that the technology that was being used was far beyond anything that we have today.

For decades, we have been told that the Giza pyramids were tombs for the pharaohs and that they were constructed by very primitive Egyptians using very primitive tools.

When I asked Google AI to tell me how the Giza pyramids were constructed, this is the response that I got…

The Egyptian pyramids were built by quarrying massive limestone blocks, transporting them to the construction site, and then using a combination of ramps, sleds, and possibly levers to raise them into place, with a highly organized workforce.

That response reflects the official narrative that has always been pushed on us, and it is absolutely absurd.

Even with all of the advanced technology that we possess today, we could not reproduce the Great Pyramid.

Anyone that claims that the ancient Egyptians constructed the pyramids using ramps, sleds and levers is being extremely irrational.

And now a team of scientists has discovered that what lies beneath the pyramids is even more impressive…

The mystery of an ‘underground city’ beneath Egypt’s pyramid deepens as scientists have shared new details about what may lie more than 4,000 feet below the surface.

A team of Italian researchers claimed they uncovered giant vertical shafts wrapped in ‘spiral staircases’ and a massive limestone platform containing two enormous chambers with descending channels resembling pipelines.

During a news briefing released Saturday, the researchers said a water system had been identified beneath the platform, located more than 2,100 feet below the Khafre Pyramid, with underground pathways leading even deeper into the earth.

Wow.

How in the world would it have been possible for very primitive Egyptians using very primitive tools to construct such colossal underground structures?

Needless to say, it would not have been possible.

The team of Italian researchers sent signals from two satellites positioned more than 400 miles above our planet into the pyramids, and those signals were subsequently converted into sound waves.  This allowed the researchers “to ‘see’ through the solid stone”…

During the press briefing, the team explained that they sent radar signals from two satellites, positioned about 420 miles above Earth, into the Khafre Pyramid, allowing them to analyze how the signals bounced back.

The signals were then converted into sound waves, enabling them to ‘see’ through the solid stone. This method helped map hidden underground structures in 3D.

The readings were completely consistent, ruling out any chance of misinterpretation due to sound reflections,’ said Malanga.

In his article about this remarkable discovery, Greg Reese detailed what these Italian researchers were able to “see” under the surface of the plateau where the pyramids are located…

The analyses of dozens of tomographic SAR images obtained from different angles enabled the 3D reconstruction of inside the pyramid of Khafre. And deep beneath the surface of the plateau.

Near the base of the pyramid, 5 identical structures are seen, connected by geometric pathways. Inside each of these are 5 horizontal levels and a sloping roof.

Below these 5 structures are 8 cylindrical structures which appear to be vertical wells, hollow inside, and surrounded by descending spiral pathways. These 8 vertically aligned cylindrical structures, arranged in two parallel rows from north to south, descend to a depth of 648 meters where they all merge into two large cubic structures measuring approximately 80 meters per side.

The entire structure extends approximately two kilometers beneath the surface. And extends beneath all three pyramids of the Giza Plateau complex.

That is a great summary.

On top of everything else, a spokesperson for the researchers claims that there is “a vast underground city” down there…

Nicole Ciccolo, the project’s spokesperson, said: ‘A vast underground city has been discovered beneath the pyramids,’

‘[The] groundbreaking study has redefined the boundaries of satellite data analysis and archaeological exploration.’

She shared a short clip of the press briefing held on March 15, saying the full video of the event will be released on March 25.

The cylinder-shaped structures, which Ciccolo referred to as ‘shafts,’ were arranged in two parallel rows and surrounded by descending spiral pathways.

I can’t wait to see the full video on March 25th.

This really does appear to be the greatest archaeological bombshell of this century so far.

So why did someone build this absolutely gigantic underground complex?

Some are claiming that it was actually an enormous geothermal power facility…

Others have suggested that the pyramids generated electricity in other ways, and one author has even suggested that the Great Pyramid may have been a “weapon of mass destruction”…

Nikola Tesla believed that the pyramids could harness earth’s natural frequencies. This arguably inspired his experiments in wireless energy transmission and scalar waves.

In, “The Giza Power Plant,” Christopher Dunn argued that the Great Pyramid was a power-generating machine using resonant and acoustic forces to convert mechanical stress into electricity.

In, “The Giza Death Star,” Joseph Farrell proposed that the Great Pyramid of Giza was a weapon of mass destruction using a type of physics, that he calls “paleophysics,” to focus energy as a scalar weapon.

Ultimately, we have no way of proving what the function of this underground complex was, because the technology that was being used is not similar to anything we have today.

But there are certain conclusions that we can make…

-The pyramids were most certainly not constructed by very primitive Egyptians using very primitive tools.

-Whoever constructed the pyramids possessed extremely advanced technology.  My theory is that they were constructed prior to the Great Flood.  If we could go back and see how advanced humanity was prior to the Great Flood, we would be absolutely shocked.  But when the Great Flood came, virtually all of that ancient technology was lost.

-If there are vast underground structures like this in Egypt, there are probably similar underground structures elsewhere.

Mainstream scientists insist that we are the only humans that have ever possessed highly advanced technology even though countless “out-of-place artifacts” that indicate that humans once possessed highly advanced technology have been found all over the world.

But now there is no way that they will be able to ignore what these Italian researchers have discovered.

Many of the paradigms that mainstream scientists have worked so carefully to construct are starting to crumble, and so many of the textbooks that they published will need to be rewritten because so many of the “conspiracy theories” that they once had no use for are turning out to be quite accurate.

Shocking new research indicates that the level of activity on the Sun has a direct impact on the level of seismic activity here on Earth.  That is really bad news for us, because the giant ball of fire that our planet revolves around has become very erratic in recent years.  According to NASA, approximately 1.3 million Earths could fit inside the Sun.  So virtually all of the models that you have ever seen comparing the size of the Earth to the size of the Sun are way off.  We are basically a tiny speck of dust compared to the Sun, and any fluctuations in solar activity have a dramatic effect on our climate.  In general, during times of high solar activity global temperatures tend to go up, and during times of low solar activity temperatures tend to go down.  This is something that has been well understood for a very long time, and now a team of scientists in Japan has discovered that there is also a very clear link between solar activity and seismic activity…

Sunspots, and therefore solar activity, cause seismic activity, according to a team led by computer scientist Matheus Henrique Junqueira Saldanha of the University of Tsukuba in Japan. Their new research reveals how.

“Solar heat drives atmospheric temperature changes, which in turn can affect things like rock properties and underground water movement,” Junquiera Saldanha says.

“Such fluctuations can make rocks more brittle and prone to fracturing, for example – and changes in rainfall and snowmelt can alter the pressure on tectonic plate boundaries. While these factors may not be the main drivers of earthquakes, they could still be playing a role that can help to predict seismic activity.”

Needless to say, earthquakes can still happen when solar activity is very low.

But the numbers that this team of researchers in Japan analyzed clearly show that there is a very strong correlation between Earth surface temperatures and seismic activity…

The research team analyzed earthquake data alongside solar activity records and surface temperatures on Earth using mathematical and computational methods.

The team discovered that when they included Earth surface temperatures into their model, the forecasting became more accurate, especially for shallow earthquakes.

Saldanha, a computer science PhD candidate at the University of Tsukuba, said: “That makes sense, since heat and water mostly affect the upper layers of the Earth’s crust.”

Interestingly, we have seen a tremendous amount of seismic activity within the past couple of years, and this has occurred at a time when the Sun has become extremely active.  In fact, last year PBS reported that our Sun “is now in its most active period in two decades”…

To most people, the sun is a steady, never-changing source of heat and light. But to scientists, it’s a dynamic star, constantly in flux, sending energy out into space. Experts say the sun is now in its most active period in two decades, causing potential disruptions to radio and satellite communications.

Last May, which was less than a year ago, there was a “barrage of large solar flares and coronal mass ejections” which resulted in one of “the strongest displays of auroras on record in the past 500 years”…

During May 2024, a barrage of large solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) launched clouds of charged particles and magnetic fields toward Earth, creating the strongest geomagnetic storm at Earth in two decades — and possibly among the strongest displays of auroras on record in the past 500 years.

You may be tempted to think that the last quote is somewhat of an exaggeration, but the truth is that it comes straight from NASA.

This is very real.

Life on Earth could not exist without the giant ball of fire that we revolve around, and that giant ball of fire has begun to behave very strangely.

Some experts had been hoping that our Sun would settle down a bit in 2025, but instead we continue to witness high levels of activity.

For example, near the end of last month our Sun released a very strong X2 class solar flare…

The Sun emitted a strong solar flare, peaking at 2:27 p.m. EST on Feb. 23, 2025. NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory, which watches the Sun constantly, captured an image of the event.

Solar flares are powerful bursts of energy. Flares and solar eruptions can impact radio communications, electric power grids, navigation signals, and pose risks to spacecraft and astronauts.

This flare is classified as an X2 class flare. X-class denotes the most intense flares, while the number provides more information about its strength.

Shortly after that solar flare was released, the state of California experienced a swarm of 7 significant earthquakes in less than 24 hours…

California has experienced seven earthquakes in less than 24 hours, with the latest striking Friday morning.

The US Geological Survey (USGS) detected five quakes along the San Andreas fault that experts say is overdue for a magnitude 8.0 or higher, known as the ‘Big One.’

The initial event, a magnitude 2.7, hit Thursday off the coast of Northern California, followed by another magnitude 2.5 less than one hour later in the same region.

Within the past week, there has been a total of 814 earthquakes in California and Nevada, and a number of them have been quite noteworthy.

On Sunday, a magnitude 3.9 earthquake rattled North Hollywood pretty good…

Shaking was felt across Los Angeles after a 3.9-magnitude earthquake struck the North Hollywood area on Sunday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake struck around 10:13 p.m., according to the USGS. It was reported about 1.4 miles east-southeast of North Hollywood.

Scientists tell us that it is just a matter of time before “the Big One” hits southern California.

As we have been warned, when that day arrives the geography of the state will be permanently altered.

We are also closely watching the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

As I discussed last month, a large enough earthquake along the Cascadia Subduction Zone would have the potential to send an 80 foot tall tsunami crashing into cities and towns along the coast in the Pacific Northwest.

And let us not forget about the New Madrid fault.  One of these days an absolutely cataclysmic earthquake will rip North America in half from the Great Lakes all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico.

So let’s keep a very close eye on the Sun, because it may be one of the best clues that the apocalyptic disasters that I just mentioned are almost upon us.

I don’t even know where to begin.  I normally do not write an article on Saturday night, but in this case I feel compelled to do so.  I need to share the dream that I just had with everyone that I know, and the easiest way for me to do that is to publish it online.  I want to get this out while the details are still fresh in my mind.  I have really been shaken up by what just happened, and so writing this article is not going to be easy.

On Friday night, I went to bed shortly before midnight feeling perfectly fine.  But then in the middle of the night I had a dream which shook me greatly.  Some time after 2:00 AM I suddenly woke up after the dream had concluded.  I quickly realized that something was very, very wrong.  I sat up in bed to see if that would help, but it didn’t.  So I stumbled out into the living room and sat down.  That didn’t help either.  I went over to the refrigerator and got out some apple sauce.  I thought that if I got something in my system that might stabilize my physical condition.

All the noise that I was making awakened Meranda, and she asked me if I was okay.

Normally, I am the sort of person that tries to tough just about anything out, but in this case I simply responded with just one word: “No”.

She came out to the kitchen to see what the problem was.  I had poured myself a little apple sauce and I was seated at the kitchen table.

I asked Meranda to get me a glass of water.  At this point I was sweating like mad.  I don’t sweat at night, and so this was extremely unusual.  Sweat was literally pouring down my face, and I felt like I might pass out at any moment.  I literally felt like I might be dying, but I don’t think that I was actually dying.  I was just in a severe state of physical distress as a result of the dream that I just had.

Meranda sat with me for a while, but there was nothing that she could do about my physical distress.

If I had passed out, I am sure that she would have called for an ambulance.

At one point I actually cried out to God for help, because I knew that physically I was at my limit.

Shortly thereafter, I got the answer to my prayer.  The extreme sweating came to a sudden halt, and then I started getting really cold.

I just felt so drained.

After I had stabilized, Meranda went back to bed, but I just kept sitting at that table.

I was very hesitant to go back to sleep because of what just happened, but I was also completely exhausted and I was really having a hard time keeping my eyes open.

From time to time, I kept giving myself a little bit of apple sauce or a little bit of water.

And in my head I just kept going over the dream that I just had again and again.

I was so shaken by the dream, and it took a long time before I felt good about going back to bed again.

Some time between 3:30 AM and 4:00 AM I finally got back into bed, and eventually I fell asleep.

I wanted you all to understand how this dream affected me before I started describing it.

It was a dream about Donald Trump, the United States and Russia.

Donald Trump is an old school businessman from New York City, and he has a very unique negotiating style.

When Trump is trying to get something accomplished and there is resistance, sometimes he will say crazy things or make very serious threats in order to put the other side off balance.

In cases where Trump has most of the leverage, this approach has worked well.

But in other cases, such an approach would not be wise at all.

In my dream, there was a series of images related to Donald Trump, the United States, Russia, and the war in Ukraine.

But the focus of the dream was not on those images.

What was most important was what I heard.

In the dream I heard a voice say that if Trump follows his usual pattern of making outrageous statements and threats with the Russians, it will backfire severely.

This was said with a lot of force.

That made sense to me, because I have been warning my readers that it will take a great deal of diplomatic finesse to reach a peace agreement with the Russians.

But even though it made sense to me, the voice still really shook me up because the message was delivered with such power.

Then it happened again, but the voice was even more forceful this time.

In fact, I was told the same thing by this voice multiple times.

And each time the voice became even more forceful.

It got to a point where I felt like the voice was literally exploding inside of me.

At the end of the dream, just before I suddenly woke up, I heard three words that were delivered with immense power and authority.

“YOU TELL THEM!”

I will never forget that.

And so now you know why I feel so compelled to share this dream.

We need to pray that President Trump will make wise decisions.  All sorts of people will be giving him all sorts of advice, and it won’t always be easy to know which way to go.

Throughout the Bible, we see examples of God using dreams to convey critical information to His people.  In fact, we see dreams being used to deliver important instructions four separate times in the first two chapters of the Gospel of Matthew alone…

Matthew 1:20 – But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 2:12 – And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.

Matthew 2:13 – And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.

Matthew 2:19-20 – But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.

Of course this is something that didn’t just happen in ancient times.

All over the world, people are having supernatural dreams in our time, and many of those dreams are about war.

Joe Biden brought us closer to a direct war with Russia than we had ever been before, and now President Trump has a chance to reverse course.

The good news is that there was a promising phone call between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin last week.

Both sides indicated that they are willing to negotiate, and we are being told that there could be some sort of a peace summit in the spring.

The bad news is that it will be nearly impossible to come up with a peace agreement with the Russians that President Trump will be able to sell to the Ukrainians and our European allies.

The Russians have all the leverage, because their forces have been steadily moving forward in recent months.  So they don’t need to end the war because they are winning.

The Russians insist that any peace agreement must allow them to keep all of the territory that they have already captured.  This is completely and utterly unacceptable to the Ukrainians and our European allies.

In addition, the Russians insist that Ukraine must be permanently banned from joining NATO, and there must be no western troops in Ukraine once this is all over.

Once again, those terms are completely and utterly unacceptable to the Ukrainians and to our European allies.

If President Trump is able to bridge the gap, he really will be the master of “the art of the deal”.

But if the Russians are not willing to give Trump what he wants, it is easy to imagine Trump becoming frustrated.

And once Trump becomes frustrated, he often starts making outrageous statements and issuing threats.

So we shall see how things go.

On another note, if President Trump decides to bomb Iran in an attempt to bring the Iranian nuclear program to an end, that will likely mean the end of peace negotiations with Russia.

So this is another very serious dilemma that Trump is facing.

If Iran is allowed to start mass producing nuclear weapons, it is just a matter of time before terrorists all over the globe have them in their hands.

It would be hard to imagine a development that is more destabilizing than that.

But if the U.S. and/or Israel starts bombing Iran, we are talking about an apocalyptic “World War III” scenario.

So what will Trump do?

Interestingly, this is all happening as remarkable signs are appearing in the sky.  On Friday, I sent a special report about the Purim Blood Moon eclipses of 2024, 2025 and 2026 to my core supporters.  In that article, I mistakenly stated that Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on October 7th, 2024.  Needless to say, the correct date was October 7th, 2023.  Sometimes I make mistakes when I try to write too fast. Thank you for being patient with me.

The bottom line is that we are in a time of war.

The facilities where Iran’s nuclear program is being developed are deep underground.

It would take an absolutely massive attack to take those facilities out.

Of course once those facilities get hit, the entire region is going to erupt in flames.

Meanwhile, our relations with China continue to go downhill.  A trade war has started, the Chinese keep talking about “reuniting” with Taiwan, and now there is tension between our two nations over the Panama Canal.

But ultimately Russia is a more serious threat than either Iran or China, because Russia has the most advanced nuclear weapons in the world.

If President Trump is able to successfully negotiate a peace agreement with Russia, he will be regarded as a hero.

But if negotiations break down and President Trump starts getting really frustrated with the Russians, we could quickly be facing a real life nightmare scenario.

The damage caused by 4 years of “Bidenomics” has been so immense that it is difficult to put it into words.  Everywhere we look, the U.S. economy is rapidly deteriorating all around us, and it would literally take a major miracle to turn things around at this point.  Needless to say, the condition of the economy was one of the biggest reasons why Donald Trump won the election, and he insists that he can get fix it.  Now he will get his chance.  But the economic challenges that he is facing in 2025 are far greater than anything that confronted him when his first term began many years ago.  If Trump is able to get the U.S. economy moving in a positive direction after everything that has happened during the past 4 years, it will truly be a historic achievement.

Nobody can deny the facts that I am about to present to you, because they are indisputable.  Collectively, these facts clearly prove that our economy is a complete mess right now.  The following are 25 signs that the U.S. economy is dying after 4 years of “Bidenomics”…

#1 In 2024, sales of previously-owned homes in the United States fell to the lowest level since 1995…

U.S. existing-home sales fell in 2024 to the lowest level since 1995, the second straight year of anemic sales due to stubbornly high mortgage rates.

High costs related to homeownership sapped sales again. The average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage has hovered between 6% and 8% since late 2022, making it prohibitively expensive for many Americans to buy homes at current prices, which hit record highs last year. Rising home insurance and property tax costs are also adding to homeowners’ expenses. Unlike mortgage rates, which fluctuate, these costs are poised to continue rising.

#2 Pending home sales dropped another 4.5 percent last month.  That was the fastest rate of decline that we have seen in more than two years…

Pending home sales fell 4.5% month over month in December on a seasonally adjusted basis, the largest decline since October 2022. They dropped 2.3% year over year.

Homebuyer demand dipped at the end of the year because mortgage rates jumped. After inching downward at the beginning of the month, mortgage rates reversed course halfway through December and have been rising since—in part because the Federal Reserve projected fewer 2025 interest-rate cuts than anticipated. The weekly average 30-year-fixed mortgage rate now sits at 7.04%, the highest level since May, after hitting an early-December low of 6.6%.

#3 The proportion of credit card accounts that are just having minimum payments being made on them just hit the highest level in 12 years…

Americans are not okay financially, according to the Philadelphia Federal Reserve.

The share of active credit card accounts making just the minimum payment hit a 12-year high of 10.75% from July through September 2024, based on data from the largest banks in the country, the Philadelphia Fed said on Wednesday. As credit card balances swell, the share of delinquent balances is also worsening, it said.

#4 The 60-plus-day delinquency rate for subprime auto loans just reached the highest level ever recorded for the month of December…

The 60-plus-day delinquency rate of subprime auto loans rose to 6.15% in December, a new record for December in the data from Fitch, which tracks subprime auto-loan asset-backed securities (ABS), going back to their origins in the early 1990s. Subprime delinquency rates rose to record highs in 2023 and rose further in 2024. They peak seasonally in January in February. If January and February 2025 follow seasonal patterns, subprime delinquency rates will set new all-time highs (gold in the chart below).

#5 Credit rejection rates have hit levels that we have not seen since the global financial crisis…

The landscape of American credit has taken a stark turn for the worse, with rejection rates for various forms of credit reaching levels not seen since the financial turmoil of a decade ago. According to the latest data from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, rejection rates for loans, including credit cards, mortgages, and auto loans, have spiked to 23%. This figure marks the highest recorded since the depths of the financial crisis, signaling a significant contraction in credit availability.

Moreover, the rejection rate for credit card limit increases has reached nearly 50%, indicating that even those with existing credit lines are facing unprecedented hurdles in expanding their credit.

#6 Restaurant chains are going bankrupt at the fastest pace since the beginning of the pandemic…

Chain restaurant bankruptcies are reportedly at their highest level since the pandemic.

Among the most recent examples is the casual dining franchise TGI Friday’s, one of more than a dozen high-profile eateries to seek bankruptcy protection between January and October of this year, Bloomberg News reported Thursday (Dec. 5), citing BankruptcyData.

According to the report, that’s the most through that date since 2020, and next year could bring more turmoil, with restaurant prices jumping due to increased labor costs, supply chain issues and steeper interest expenses, lessening consumer demand for meals away from home.

#7 After rising 12.7 percent in 2023, the cost of home insurance went up another 10.4 percent in 2024…

In 2024, insurers raised rates by 10.4 percent as of Dec. 27, which followed a 12.7 percent hike in the previous year, according to the Jan. 21 report from the company.

In total, 33 states saw premiums climb by double digits last year, with the largest spike seen in Nebraska at 22.7 percent. Premiums in Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Utah, and Washington jumped by more than 20 percent.

#8 The average price of a dozen eggs went up 36 percent in just 12 months, and it is expected to go even higher during the months ahead…

The average price of a dozen large, grade-A eggs was $4.15 in December, up from $3.65 in November, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Egg prices were also up more than 36% year-over-year in December, according to the Consumer Price Index.

“Not to be the bearer of bad news, but we’re in this for a while,” said Emily Metz, president and CEO of the American Egg Board. “Until we have time without a detection, unfortunately this very, very tight egg supply is going to continue.”

#9 The household income required to purchase an average home in the U.S. has more than tripled since January 2012…

In January 2012, the household income required to afford the typical home in the U.S. was $39,223, according to Redfin. As of November 2024, home buyers need to earn $126,764, a 223% increase.

#10 A “healthcare giant” that operates 16 hospitals in the U.S. has just filed for bankruptcy…

A healthcare giant that operates 16 hospitals across four states has filed for bankruptcy – with plans to offload several of them.

Prospect Medical Holdings – which also owns 166 clinics across California, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island, and employs 12,600 people – filed for Chapter 11 protection in Texas on Saturday.

The company, which was once an active buyer of struggling hospitals, has debts of more than $400 million.

#11 The hiring rate in the U.S. in the month of November was “the lowest since the early 2010s”…

Hiring was anemic at the end of 2024.

November’s hiring rate of 3.3% is the lowest since the early 2010s when the US was struggling after the Great Recession.

#12 The Washington Post has announced that it will be laying off about 4 percent of its workers…

The Washington Post has started laying off roughly 4 percent of its work force, the company said on Tuesday, as the newspaper struggles to stem millions of dollars in annual losses.

The cuts will affect fewer than 100 people across The Post’s business divisions, which include its advertising sales, marketing and information technology teams.

#13 It is being reported that CNN will be laying off hundreds of workers…

CNN boss Mark Thompson reportedly plans to announce mass layoffs Thursday — just days after he warned top on-air talent including Jake Tapper and Anderson Cooper that they ought to avoid “pre-judging” President Trump.

The ratings-challenged cable news pioneer will lay off hundreds of employees as it refocuses the business around a global digital audience, CNBC reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

#14 As a result of closing their Monterey plant, 433 Perdue Farms employees will be looking for new jobs…

Perdue Farms is closing their Monterey plant, the Putnam County mayor announced Thursday night.

The closure will leave 433 employees out of a job. Randy Porter, the mayor of Putnam County, says the plant has been a part of Monterey and the county’s economy for numerous years.

#15 Over the past year, Intel has laid off 3,000 workers in the state of Oregon alone…

Intel eliminated 1 in every 8 jobs across its Oregon workforce last year, reducing its local headcount by 3,000 positions as it sought to cut costs after a steep and sustained drop in revenue.

#16 Meta is one of the few companies that is doing fairly well right now, but they are conducting mass layoffs too…

Meta is planning on cutting about 5% of its workforce, with a specific focus on the company’s lowest-performing employees.

A Meta spokesperson confirmed the news in an emailed statement to USA TODAY Wednesday after first being reported by Bloomberg, citing an internal memo.

#17 Kohl’s has decided to permanently shut down 27 “underperforming” stores…

Twenty-seven “underperforming” Kohl’s stores are set to shutter this spring.

The locations, named late last week by Kohl’s, will permanently close their doors by April, according to the Wisconsin-based retailer.

#18 Over 200 Advance Auto Parts stores are up for sale…

More than 200 Advance Auto Parts stores, either the properties themselves or their leases, are being marketed for sale by Hilco Real Estate.

Raleigh, North Carolina-based Advance Auto, an auto aftermarket parts retailer, has tapped Hilco to manage the disposition of real estate properties and leases that span 46 states. The portfolio includes retail locations and “potential redevelopment parcels situated in densely populated urban areas and along strong commercial corridors,” Hilco, which is headquartered in Northbrook, Illinois, said Wednesday.

#19 Approximately 500 Big Lots stores will soon be shut down for good…

The company buying Columbus-based Big Lots has identified about 500 Big Lots stores, including several in central Ohio, that it plans to close.

Gordon Brothers, a Boston-based investment group, is offering to sell the stores’ leases, indicating that the stores will not remain Big Lots under new ownership.

#20 Walgreens has announced that it will be permanently closing 1,200 stores…

The thinning of Walgreens locations has been in the works. Walgreens said in October 2024 it planned to close about 1,200 underperforming stores across the U.S. as a strategy to offset declining profits resulting from low drug reimbursement rates and sluggish retail sales.

#21 In 2024, a total of 7,325 stores were closed in the United States.  That was the highest number that we have seen since the early days of the pandemic…

Store closures in the U.S. last year hit the highest level since the pandemic — and even more locations are expected to shutter this year, as shoppers’ dollars increasingly go to a few industry winners, according to an analysis by Coresight Research.

Major retailers, including Party City and Macy’s, closed 7,325 stores in 2024, according to the retail advisory group’s data. That’s the sharpest jump since retailers in the U.S. shuttered almost 10,000 stores in 2020, the year when the Covid pandemic began.

#23 Cargo theft in the United States has hit a brand new all-time record high for the second year in a row…

Cargo theft hit a record high in the U.S. and Canada for the second consecutive year, and the trend is expected to continue as criminal enterprises have become more sophisticated in their methods.

Verisk CargoNet’s annual analysis released this week found that cargo theft surged 27% from 2023 to 2024, hitting a record 3,625 reported incidents last year with an average value of $202,364 per theft. All told, the losses are estimated at more than $454 million.

#24 59 percent of Americans don’t even have enough money to pay for a $1,000 emergency expense…

Most Americans cannot afford a $1,000 emergency expense, with inflation and high interest rates affecting their ability to save adequately, according to a recent survey by consumer services company Bankrate.

A full 59 percent of Americans aren’t in a position to use their savings “to pay for a major unexpected expense, such as $1,000 for an emergency room visit or car repair,” said a Jan. 23 report from the company.

#25 61 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 35 say that they feel “financially stressed”…

About 61% of surveyed Americans of ages 18 to 35 are financially stressed, according to a new Intuit survey. About 21% of respondents say their stress has gotten worse over the past year.

Some of the biggest stressors included high cost of living, job instability and growing housing costs. Of those who identified as financially stressed, 32% said handling unexpected emergencies like medical bills, car repairs and home maintenance trigger their anxiety with cash, the report found.
