Earlier today, I was surprised to learn that a scientific study was recently conducted to determine the best place to live during a global societal collapse.

According to that study, the best place to live when our world goes completely haywire will be New Zealand…

New Zealand, Iceland, the UK, Tasmania and Ireland are the places best suited to survive a global collapse of society, according to a study.

In recent years, New Zealand has become extremely popular with the elite.  Many wealthy individuals have gobbled up properties in prime locations in anticipation of what is coming.

I used to recommend New Zealand too, but after what I have witnessed during this pandemic I can no longer do that.  The top politicians in New Zealand have shown that they are authoritarian control freaks, and at this point I am urging everyone to avoid the country.

One thing that you will notice about the top five names on the list is that they are all islands.  Having the natural protection of the ocean is definitely a desirable thing, but being close to shore also makes you vulnerable to tsunamis and rising sea levels.

Of course no place is perfect.  Wherever you live, there are going to be certain risks.

The researchers that conducted this study said that a number of different factors were used to come up with the final results…

To assess which nations would be most resilient to such a collapse, countries were ranked according to their ability to grow food for their population, protect their borders from unwanted mass migration, and maintain an electrical grid and some manufacturing ability. Islands in temperate regions and mostly with low population densities came out on top.

When they were asked about the United States, the researchers said that the inability of the U.S. to prevent mass migration pushes it just out of the top 5…

That’s because its giant land borders make it vulnerable to migration from people who would be trying to escape climate disasters in their own countries: Think streams of people pouring over the southern border from Mexico or the northern border from Canada, for instance.

Still, the U.S. would have fallen somewhere just out of the Top 5, the researchers at Anglia Ruskin University in the U.K. told DailyMail.com.

Unfortunately, I believe that there are other factors which need to be considered which should push the U.S. way down the list.

For example, during the riots of 2020 we clearly witnessed the potential for widespread civil unrest in this country.  Major cities were burning from coast to coast last summer, and since that time we have been experiencing an unprecedented spike in violent crime.

So when things really start falling apart, I would strong recommend avoiding any of our core urban areas.

Another factor to consider is how authorities would react during a major pandemic.  This week, the authoritarian side of Joe Biden has come out, and it has been quite frightening to watch.

I think that one lesson that we have all learned over the past year is that during a global health crisis you really want to be some place where you can simply be left alone.

The potential for natural disasters is another very important factor that was not mentioned by the researchers that conducted the study.  Our world is not a stable place, and we saw another very clear example of this on Thursday.  Alaska was hit by a magnitude 8.2 earthquake, and that represented the largest quake to hit the United States in more than 50 years…

The largest Alaska earthquake since 1965 caused a tsunami warning and local evacuations along the southwest Gulf of Alaska coast late Wednesday. After tsunami waves of less than 1 foot arrived onshore, the warning was canceled and coastal residents returned home.

Jeremy Zidek, a spokesman for the Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said he expects any damage from the earthquake may be revealed in the morning.

We are being told that it was the sixth largest earthquake in the recorded history of North America, and it really shook a lot of people up…

In Sand Point, Patrick Mayer, the superintendent of schools for the Aleutians East Borough, was sitting in his kitchen when the shaking started.

“It started to go and just didn’t stop,” he said. “It went on for a long time and there were several aftershocks, too. The pantry is empty all over the floor, the fridge is empty all over the floor.”

Sadly, the truth is that this is just the beginning.

As I have detailed in “Lost Prophecies” and “7 Year Apocalypse”, I am deeply concerned about the potential for great natural disasters on both coasts and along the New Madrid fault zone in the middle of the country.

War is another factor that the researchers should have considered.

It is hard to imagine an entirely peaceful global societal collapse.  And when a major war does erupt, it is probably inevitable that the United States will be right in the middle of it.

Right now, military experts are telling us that Taiwan is one of the key hotspots that could potentially spark a major war, and we just learned that China recently simulated an invasion of the island…

FEARS of World War Three have been sparked after China staged massive military drills “invading Taiwan”.

Beijing also boasted about defeating the US and the UK in any conflict – and says it is confident the advantages are on its side.

And I also think that it is very noteworthy that Russia and China are planning to conduct “joint military exercises” next month…

Russia and China will conduct joint military exercises involving 10,000 troops in mid-August, the Interfax news agency cited the Russian defence ministry as saying on Thursday.

So many of the trends that I have been watching for years are now starting to accelerate.

The hour is late, and time is running out.

But of course any sort of a “global collapse” is simply unimaginable to most Americans, and for now ignorance is bliss.

On Wednesday afternoon, the smash-and-grabs turned into armed robbery. KPIX 5 reporter Don Ford was on the story Tuesday and again on Wednesday, and was preparing to interview nearby homeowners when a white luxury sedan with four men inside pulled up.

This happened right in the middle of the day.  A vehicle pulled up to where Ford was conducting an interview, three criminals jumped out, and one of them put a Glock right in his face…

“The car came up here while we were about to do an interview, three guys jumped out,” said Ford. “One had a gun and put in my face and said, ‘We’re taking the camera.’”

The whole encounter with a Glock in his face took less than a minute. “My whole thought at the moment was be calm. Let’s not get this guy excited. He’s got the gun. I don’t. So you take you the camera. It’s yours Buddy.”

Since this is a high profile case, I am sure that the overwhelmed police in San Francisco will “look into” this incident.

But of course there are thousands of other crimes being committed in San Francisco on a daily basis, and the police are never able to solve most of those either.

Brazen daylight crimes are being committed on the other side of the country as well.  For example, two criminal predators recently attacked a 61-year-old man on a Bronx sidewalk, and video footage shows that bystanders just kept “walking by the entire time”…

Police released a shocking video showing a man being attacked and robbed in the middle of the day on a Bronx sidewalk.  People are seen walking by the entire time.

The NYPD says it happened just before 2 p.m. on Monday on White Plains Rd. in the Wakefield section.

Old people are being targeted because they are easy prey.

In this instance, what the two criminals were really after was cold, hard cash…

Two men walked up to the 61-year-old man and demanded cash.

One of them pushed the victim and knocked him to the ground. The other man stomped on his face. Both men searched the victim’s pockets, punched the victim in the head, and stole $817 before taking off.

As crime rates have soared, New York and other big cities have slashed police budgets.

Needless to say, that has not worked out very well.  Sadly, the truth is that the police do not control the streets of many U.S. cities at this point.

In New York, the spike in crime has been unprecedented.  Just check out these numbers…

New York City in 2020 experienced an unprecedented one-year increase in homicides and shootings. Through December 27, 2020, the number of murders was up 41 percent from 2019 and 53 percent from 2018. Shooting victims were up 103 percent from 2019 and 109 percent from 2018; shooting incidents rose 97 percent and 104 percent. In gang-ridden precincts, the spike was even more startling. In Brooklyn’s Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods, there were 170 percent more shooting victims in 2020 than in 2019 and 151 percent more shooting incidents. Murder was up 94 percent in these parts of Brooklyn.

Gangs have such free reign in the streets that they have begun “tagging” thousands of buildings in NYC in order to show their domination of certain areas.

On Wednesday, the NYPD announced a “major clean-up operation” in an attempt to do something about all of the graffiti…

New York City has been blighted by graffiti leaving some areas of the Big Apple ‘looking like war zones’ reminiscent of the 1970s and 1980s, leading to a barrage of vandalism complaints.

As part of a major clean-up operation announced on Wednesday, NYPD officers will examine graffiti tags for clues about gang activity in the city after the department said it had received over 6,000 complaints in 2020 alone.

Of course it is a whole lot easier to spray on graffiti than it is to remove it, and unless the NYPD starts arresting people they are going to be fighting a losing battle.

Unfortunately, prosecutors are going soft on crime all over the nation.  For example, dozens of violent terrorists that have been involved in the rioting, looting and arson in downtown Portland have had their cases completely dismissed…

Federal prosecutors have dismissed more than one-third of cases stemming from last summer’s violent protests in downtown Portland, when protesters clashed with federal agents. KGW reviewed federal court records and found 31 of the 90 protest cases have been dismissed by the U.S. Department of Justice, including a mix of misdemeanor and felony charges.

Some of the most serious charges dropped include four defendants charged with assaulting a federal officer, which is a felony. More than half of the dropped charges were “dismissed with prejudice,” which several former federal prosecutors described as extremely rare. “Dismissed with prejudice” means the case can’t be brought back to court.

I was absolutely stunned when I read that.

Hardly anyone ever gets arrested during the endless violence in Portland anyway, and so it is disheartening to learn that many of those that do actually get arrested end up going free.

And of course most of them will soon be back among the protesters.

As our major cities continue to descend into madness, the mass exodus that we are witnessing out of our major cities is likely to accelerate even more.

We have entered a period of time when civil unrest is going to be a permanent part of our lives, and what we have experienced so far is just the beginning.

As economic conditions continue to deteriorate, our young people are going to become even more frustrated and even more desperate.

As I have always said, desperate people do desperate things, and now horrific crimes are regularly happening in broad daylight all over the country.

The corporate media was so quick to use the term “domestic terrorists” when it was Trump supporters that were going crazy.

In an attempt to stop the mayhem, the impotent police in Portland immediately posted a message on Twitter warning that the rioters could potentially face “arrest or citation”…

To those gathered near the Democratic Party of Oregon Portland Headquarters: Members of this group have been observed damaging the building. Anyone who is involved in criminal behavior including: vandalism and graffittiing is subject to arrest or citation.

Oh no, not a citation!

Surprisingly, that tweet did not end the violence.

Meanwhile, Antifa once again demonstrated who rules the streets of Seattle.

Many in the corporate media are envisioning that the primary threat of violence will come from Trump supporters now that Biden is president.

But that is not even close to the truth.

Over the past year, it has been the radical left that has been endlessly rioting, looting and setting buildings on fire.  They have relentlessly assaulted police stations, courthouses and other federal buildings, and not once has the corporate media ever referred to them as “domestic terrorists”.

You would think that the fact that Biden has replaced Trump in the White House would make the radical left happy for a few days, but it appears that nothing will ever make them happy for very long.

As I have warned over and over again, the radical left wants to dismantle the entire system and bring about a full-blown revolution in this country.

Now that Trump is out of office, all of this political violence is Biden’s problem now.

Will he have the guts to stand up to the radical left?

We shall see what happens.

The worse economic conditions in this country become, the worse the rioting is going to get, and the radical left is making it clear that Biden is not going to get any sort of a “honeymoon” period.

With that in mind, I would like to share three recent quotes from Glenn Beck…

#1 “What I’m here to do is to sound the trumpet. To warn you of what is just over the horizon, that no one else will tell you. […] You know things aren’t OK. They aren’t normal. Many of us have this feeling that we’re headed towards something — something not good.”

#2 “If you felt any of these things, I want you to know this: One, you’re right, it’s not your imagination. Whether you’re on the left or right, it’s not your imagination. Something is very wrong. Two, you’re not alone. You are not the only one feeling this. And, three, this is the difficult beginning of a new era.”

#3 “But, I believe that we are now squarely in the days the Bible foretold. I told you there would come a time when we passed all the exits. And we’re there. We need to fight to slow down the chaos. We need to do everything we can to slow chaos down.”

He hit the nail right on the head, and I don’t think that I could have said it better myself.

So many people out there have such an ominous feeling about the times that we are moving into, and a lot of them wonder if others are feeling the exact same way.  Of course the truth is that countless others are also sensing that something has gone horribly wrong.  Each one of us can look around and see that society is coming apart at the seams, and nobody seems to have a realistic plan for ending the chaos.  Instead, there seems to be a general consensus that we have crossed a threshold into a dangerous new period in our history and that there is no going back to the way that things were before.

If the vast majority of Americans were generally convinced that our current problems were just temporary in nature, we wouldn’t be seeing the mass exodus out of our major cities that we are witnessing right now.  According to a Daily Mail article that I came across this afternoon, large numbers of Americans are “fleeing” to states with low population density such as “Vermont, Idaho and Oregon”…

Americans have been fleeing to states with more open space such as Vermont, Idaho and Oregon as they opted to relocate amid the COVID-19 pandemic, data shows.

Vermont topped the list of states that saw the biggest influx of new moves between March and August, according to the data compiled by moving company United Van Lines and published by Bloomberg.

I can just hear residents of those three states groan as they read this article.

Recently, I had someone from a state in the middle of the country specifically ask me to avoid encouraging people to move to his state.  So many that live in beautiful rural areas are horrified at the prospect of hordes of transplants from New York, California and Illinois moving in and ruining their communities.

And according to that same Daily Mail article, New York is one of the main states that people are fleeing at this point…

Two thirds of all moves booked in New York and New Jersey were for relocations out of those states, according to the data.

The data shows that just under half of those moving from New York went to cities in Florida, Texas, California and North Carolina.

Of course not all moves are out of state.  In many instances, people are just moving out to the suburbs from a core urban area, and all of this movement is really starting to show up in the real estate numbers.  The following comes from CNN…

Signed contracts for sales of condos and co-ops in Manhattan, for example, plunged nearly 60% in July, while contracts for single-family homes in areas outside of New York City skyrocketed, according to a recent report from brokerage firm Douglas Elliman and Miller Samuel.

Similar shifts are playing out in suburban areas around other major cities. Norfolk County, outside of Boston, saw a 38% increase in new contracts for single-family homes in July over last year, according to Compass. Collin County, Texas, outside of Dallas, saw a 58% increase. San Bernardino County, outside of Los Angeles, saw a 62% jump and Marin County, outside of San Francisco, saw a 77% increase over last year.

Personally, I can’t blame anyone that wants to flee the major cities.  As our society continues to crumble, living in a core urban area will be a very dangerous thing to do.

For now, most of the protesting is for political purposes, but as time rolls along economic considerations will increasingly come to the fore.

If people are this crazed and this violent now, what are they going to be like when all of their food is gone and they are desperately hungry?

Even now, millions of Americans are becoming increasingly desperate.  58 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits over the past 23 weeks, about two-thirds of the country is in financial distress, and one recent Gallup survey found that 70 percent of all Americans want another stimulus check…

As Congress and the Trump administration remain deadlocked in talks over the next coronavirus stimulus package, seven in 10 Americans (70%) say they would support the government sending an additional economic impact payment (EIP) to all qualified adults. These stimulus payments, which were first distributed in April as part of the popular CARES Act, are widely supported as the U.S. economy continues to face high unemployment amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite deep polarization on a number of policies related to COVID-19, an additional EIP receives strong support among both Democrats and Republicans. Democrats (82%) are most likely to favor the federal government sending another direct payment to all qualified U.S. adults (based on their income level), with about two-thirds of Republicans (64%) and independents (66%) saying the same.

It sure didn’t take very much to turn most of us into socialists, did it?

Of course this is just the start.  As the U.S. is hit by one major crisis after another, the economic desperation all around us is going to get far, far worse.

Glenn Beck said it so perfectly.  If you have a very ominous feeling about what is ahead, it isn’t just your imagination.

Something is definitely very wrong, and our national nightmare is just beginning.

In Portland, there have been nightly protests for more than three months straight.  We have never seen anything like this before, and I really wish that the violence would have been put to an end long ago.

Because now people are dying.  On Saturday, the death of a supporter of Patriot Prayer that had gone into Portland to counter the protesters made headlines all over the globe…

The fatal shooting of a supporter of Patriot Prayer in Portland, Oregon, this weekend shone a spotlight on the right-wing group based in Washington state and its founder, Joey Gibson.

The name of the victim in Saturday’s shooting was not immediately released. Portland police tried to determine Sunday whether the shooting was related to clashes between Trump supporters going through the city in a caravan after a rally and Black Lives Matter protesters engaged in their own demonstration Saturday night.

Of course this comes on the heels of the deaths that we just witnessed in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

And there will almost certainly be more needless deaths in the months ahead, because much worse civil unrest is coming.

Washington D.C. is likely to be a focal point for protesters as we approach election day in November.  I still remember the days when I could roam the streets of Washington without any concern at all, but unfortunately those days are long gone.

Today, if you are a recognizable figure, you are a potential target.  Just ask Rand Paul.  What happened to him and his wife the other night was deeply alarming.

And then on Saturday night authorities actually had to use rubber bullets and stun grenades because protesters were becoming so unruly…

Chaos erupted outside the White House on Saturday following another night of Black Lives Matter protests that saw police clash with demonstrators, striking them with rubber bullets and detonating stun grenades, as they moved to clear out crowds.

Sadly, this is just the beginning, because much worse is coming.

I just wish that everyone would calm down and go home, but of course that is not going to happen.

In this environment, being a police officer is going to be one of the most difficult and one of the most dangerous jobs in America.

At this point, every officer has become a potential target, and this is especially true in our major cities.  For example, two officers were just shot during an incident in St. Louis…

Two St. Louis police officers responding to a shooting call were shot themselves Saturday by a gunman who was arrested after he barricaded himself in a home in the Tower Grove South neighborhood, police said.

And two others were just shot during a traffic stop in Chicago…

Two Chicago cops were shot and the suspected gunman was wounded by police early Sunday after a traffic stop in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side.

When I go online and I see people cheering when someone gets shot, that grieves me so deeply.

Our desire should be to see healing, not more violence.

I never imagined that we would ever see so much anger and hatred be directed at the police in this country.  A few days ago, rioters in Seattle actually “tried to trap officers inside their burning precinct using quick-dry cement”.

How evil do you have to be to do something like that?

But as bad as things are already, much worse is coming.

And it appears that multitudes of Americans share my assessment, because gun sales are absolutely soaring…

Gun sales were up 72% compared to this time last year,  with first-time buyers leading the pack. Americans are likely sensing that something is horribly wrong with the rigged system we are forced to live under.

According to a report by the Washington Post, the National Sports Shooting Foundation says that first-time gun buyers played a heavy role in the increase.

As our society continues to unravel, safety and security have become top priorities for so many people.  Earlier today, I posted an article about the unprecedented mass exodus out of our major cities that we are witnessing right now.  A few months ago, the pandemic was the main reason why so many people were suddenly moving, but now the violence on the streets has become the primary factor.

And as I recently explained during an interview with Greg Hunter, we are moving into a time when things are going to get even more chaotic.

I am sure that tomorrow we will be bombarded by more headlines about violence that has happened somewhere in the country, and each new incident pushes us even closer to the point of no return.

A house divided will surely fall, and America is more divided today than it ever has been in my entire lifetime.

I wish that there was an easy answer, but at this point our nation no longer has a single set of values that unites us.

I truly wish that we could all learn how to love one another.  When you truly learn to love others, it changes everything, but unfortunately the vast majority of us have been trained to deeply hate those that are on “the other side”.

There is no way that this is going to end well, and I think that most of you realize that.

So get everything done that you need to get done, because August is ending and September is almost here.

I just feel so sad today.  We are literally watching the meltdown of our society, and that process is going to continue no matter what happens in November.  I have never seen so much anger in America, and the frightening thing is that the level of anger seems to just keep growing.

I wish that we could learn to truly forgive one another, love one another and come together as a society.  For years I have been telling my readers that civil unrest like this was coming, and there is an entire chapter in my new book entitled “Civil Unrest and Martial Law”.  So many of the things that myself and others have been warning about are now playing out right in front of our eyes, but there is absolutely no joy in being correct.  There is only sadness.  I love the United States of America and what I see happening to our nation grieves me very deeply.

Whenever I write articles about our need to love one another, those articles tend not to get much attention at all.  In America today, we would much rather hate our enemies than love them.  The corporate media has trained us to hate those “on the other side”, and they have done that job very well.  They have been stirring the pot for years, and now much of the population has been perfectly primed to explode.

In such an environment, it was inevitable that there would eventually be eruptions of violence.  On Sunday night, it was Kenosha’s turn…

Armed rioters shut down streets in Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday night as the city fell into chaos after a police-involved shooting earlier in the evening.

A large group of rioters – including at least two armed rioters – blocked a police armored car from proceeding down a street. After a standoff, the police began throwing tear gas canisters from the top of the vehicle to disperse the crowd. Moments later, gunshots rang out after one of the protesters appeared to open fire.

The police shooting that caused these riots only happened a few hours earlier.

That means that some of these rioters were already armed and were ready to cause chaos on very little notice.

And it seems that these sorts of riots are almost always accompanied by widespread looting…

The violence quickly spread and eventually large mobs began looting shops and stores throughout the city.

Later in the night, vehicles at several car dealerships were set ablaze. Including one at a dealership next to a church which displayed a Black Lives Matter sign.

And just like in so many other cities, police officers in Kenosha quickly became targets.  In fact, it was reported that one officer was actually knocked down with a brick.

Protesters were promising to come back Monday night, but Governor Tony Evers called out the National Guard in a desperate attempt to keep that from happening…

In a bid to stave off another night of chaos, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers said 125 members of the National Guard would be in Kenosha on Monday night with responsibility for ‘guarding infrastructure and making sure our firefighters and others involved are protected.’

The Kenosha Police Department declared a state-of-emergency curfew for Monday night beginning at 8pm until 7am the following morning, according to a post on the police department’s Twitter feed.

Meanwhile, we witnessed yet another senseless riot in Portland on Sunday night…

A tumultuous weekend in Portland ended late Sunday night with Portland Police declaring a riot outside of the bureau’s North Precinct.

Police said they made 23 arrests over the course of the night on various charges like interfering with a peace officer and rioting.

During the riot, protesters were literally hurling anything that they could find at the police…

Demonstrators lit dumpsters on fire, and threw fireworks, rocks, and “sharp chunks of ceramic” at officers, police said.

Just after 10:30 p.m., police declared the gathering an unlawful assembly.

Sadly, a similar scene unfolded in Denver just the night before…

Dozens of armed Black Lives Matter anarchists descended on the Denver Police Headquarters and damaged buildings, set fires and shot fireworks at cops.

The mob, consisting of between 50 to 75 demonstrators, were said to be wielding numerous weapons — from axes to guns — during the incident.

Of course the riot in Denver didn’t even make many headlines around the nation because this sort of thing has become so commonplace in our major cities at this point.

We have basically entered a period of semi-permanent civil unrest.

And now that lawlessness has been unleashed in our streets, new eruptions of violence will be easily sparked with each new incident that comes along.

I am particularly concerned about this upcoming election season.  It is easy to imagine quite a few scenarios which would unleash widespread rage and fury.

I just wish that things could be different.

Americans should not be fighting other Americans in the streets, and it deeply grieves me whenever I see it happening.

If everyone simply treated others the way that they would like to be treated, we wouldn’t see senseless police shootings and there wouldn’t be rioting and looting in our streets.

Unfortunately, the very basic values that this nation was founded upon were rejected by our society long ago, and now we are paying a very great price for that choice.

Nearly half of 258 agencies surveyed this month are reporting that funding has already been slashed or is expected to be reduced, according to a report slated for release this week by the Police Executive Research Forum, a non-partisan research organization.

Much of the funding is being pulled from equipment, hiring and training accounts, even as a number of cities also are tracking abrupt spikes in violent crime, the report concluded.

And in most cases we are not talking about small cuts.  Police funding in Los Angeles has been reduced by 15o million dollars, and police funding in New York has been slashed by a total of one billion dollars.

Those are staggering numbers.

In Seattle, there had been a proposal to cut police funding by 50 percent, but apparently that wasn’t good enough for some people and so now a measure has been introduced that would completely “abolish the entire Seattle Police Department”…

BREAKING: Seattle City Council moves to abolish the entire Seattle Police Department and replace it with a “civilian led Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention.”

They want to replace the police force with nonprofit programs and “community-led activities.”

If you live in the Seattle area and you are concerned that in the future you may not have anyone to call if someone breaks into your home, you can rest assured that someone will still be on the other end of the line when you call 911.

But instead of a police officer with a gun responding to your call, you may have a “community safety official” armed with “science” and “reason” come pedaling out to your place on his or her bike to perform a “mental health evaluation” on the individual that you are having a “disagreement” with.

Minneapolis is another major city that is considering doing away with the police entirely, but for now the MPD is still operating.  However, right now they are being completely overwhelmed by a massive crime wave that has erupted in the city, and in a recent email to 3rd precinct residents they told citizens to be “prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet”…

“Be prepared to give up your cell phone and purse/wallet,” the police said in their email, a copy of which was obtained by Alpha News. The email said citizens should listen to criminals and “do as they say.”

The message warned that “some victims have been maced, dragged, assaulted, and some threatened with a gun.”

I don’t know about you, but I would not have been comforted if I had received that email.

Chicago is dealing with an enormous crime wave as well.  At this point, so many people are being gunned down in the city that it is making headlines all over the globe…

Data released on Saturday showed that Chicago saw 440 homicides between January 2020 through the end of June, a 52 percent increase from the same time period last year (which saw 290 homicides). Shooting victims similarly increased by 51 percent (1,480 to 2,240) and shooting incidents themselves rose 47 percent (from 1,210 to 1,783).

In Los Angeles, it is property crime that is making headlines, and the latest numbers show that auto thefts in the city hit an all-time record high last quarter…

A COVID-19-induced recession, with exceptionally high unemployment in Los Angeles, has resulted in record-high auto thefts in 2Q20.

A new report via Crosstown LA, who examined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) data, reveals that 5,744 vehicle thefts occurred between April and June, up 57.7% from the same period last year.

But it really isn’t fair to point out just a couple of cities because the crime wave that we are facing is actually national in scope.

Never before have we seen such a dramatic spike in crime in such a short period of time.  The following comes from Fox News…

A host of other cities — Houston, Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland and Seattle — also saw spikes in shootings and murders, according to public data. “I think it’s just a perfect storm of distress in America,” Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said in July.

In her city, the police department reported a 240 percent increase in murders (from 5 to 17) when comparing a four-week period ending in July 2019 to the same timeframe this year. New York City, meanwhile, saw a 277 percent increase in shootings (from 13 to 49) when observing the year-over-year change for one week in July.

In such an environment, does it really make sense to “defund the police”?

Unfortunately, you and I are not the ones making the decisions, and right now police budgets are being dramatically slashed from coast to coast.

Meanwhile, civil unrest continues to simmer in many of our largest cities.  For example, protesters in Portland just made headlines by burning an American flag and a Bible…

Protesters burned an American flag and a Bible in Portland, Oregon, sparking outrage just as weeks of violent demonstrations seemed to be coming to a close.

For more than 60 days, Black Lives Matters demonstrators, including a “Wall of Moms” and a “Wall of Vets,” have clashed with federal agents in the city, drawing national attention as authorities blasted marchers with tear gas and the civilians at times responded with weapons of their own — such as feces, bleach, bricks or batteries.

Sadly, what we have experienced so far is just the beginning.  The upcoming election certainly has the potential to trigger more protests and more riots, and the severe economic downturn that we are currently experiencing will add fuel to the fire as well.

Everywhere you look, people are angry and frustrated, and our society seems to be coming apart at the seams all around us.

It is at such a moment that politicians all over America have decided to radically cut police funding, and needless to say this is going to have very serious implications for every man, woman and child in the entire country.

The post Shock Survey Finds That Funding Is Being Reduced For “Nearly Half” Of All Major City Police Departments In America appeared first on The Economic Collapse.

But many people that live in rural communities are feeling pretty good about things right now.  Even though more than 52 million Americans have filed new claims for unemployment benefits over the last 18 weeks, the official unemployment rate in many rural counties is still in the single digits.

I know that may be difficult to believe, but that is what the numbers tell us.

Sadly, in many of our largest cities it is a completely different story.  New York City was one of the early epicenters of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, and many of us will never forget watching video footage of the looting that took place in the heart of Manhattan earlier this year.  As a result of all of this chaos, the unemployment rate in the state as a whole is nearly twice the national average…

New York’s unemployment rate rose to 20.4% last month, according to state-level data issued Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics that detailed figures for some large metro areas. That’s up from 18.3% in May and 15% in April.

We see a very similar story when we look at the city of Los Angeles.

Thanks to COVID-19 and endless civil unrest, the official unemployment rate in the city is hovering near 20 percent…

Los Angeles, the second-largest U.S. city, has seen a similar level of joblessness.

Its unemployment rate recovered slightly in June but remains startlingly high — at 19.5%, versus 20.6% in May, according to data published Friday by California’s Employment Development Department.

Unfortunately, it appears that the COVID-19 pandemic and the violence in our major cities are both going to be with us for the foreseeable future.

Some people think that the civil unrest will disappear if Joe Biden wins in November, but I do not believe that is the case.  Nearly all of the major cities where the violence is happening are controlled by radical Democrats, and those radical Democrats have been completely unable to control the riots.  To the protesters, Republicans and Democrats are both two sides of the same coin and are both responsible for the injustices in our society, and they are not going to give up on their goals just because a moderate Democrat like Joe Biden wins the election.

At this point, millions upon millions of Americans are sticking closer to home these days because of COVID-19 and all the unrest, and this has been particularly devastating for the leisure and hospitality industries…

The unemployment rate in the leisure and hospitality industries, including restaurants, soared from 5.7% in February to 39.3% in April, and in June was still at an unprecedented 28.9%. By comparison, the overall unemployment rate is 11.1%, and no other industry comes close to restaurants’ level.

The restaurant industry employed nearly 9.2 million people in June, almost 3 million more than in April but still 25% below where it was in February. Anecdotally, though, restaurant workers—even those who’ve spent decades in the industry—say they’re looking to get out. The line of work that had been stable, geographically flexible, reliable and largely safe for generations is no more, they say.

As I discussed the other day, we have already lost thousands upon thousands of small and independent restaurants, and this “restaurant apocalypse” is only going to get worse with each passing month.

Moving forward, some cities may never be the same again.  In Las Vegas, the official unemployment rate recently hit 29 percent, and everyone agrees that tourism will never recover until the pandemic ends.

If this pandemic stretches on for several years, many of those unemployed workers will be forced to abandon the city entirely in order to find work elsewhere.

Sadly, competition for the few good jobs that are available will become increasingly fierce, and this will result in millions of Americans falling out of the middle class.

And we are starting to see some numbers that indicate that this process is already moving along very quickly.  According to the U.S. Census Bureau, “24 million Americans say they have little to no chance of being able to pay next month’s rent”.

Just think about that.

We never saw anything like this during the last recession, and the Census Bureau says that things are particular dire for Black and Hispanic renters…

This month, nearly 28% of Black renters say they haven’t paid last month’s rent, and about 46% say they have slight or no confidence they’ll be able to pay next month’s rent, according to figures from the Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey. Hispanic renters face similar economic strain: 22% say they missed last month’s rent and 46% fear they won’t make rent next month.

Those numbers are simply eye-popping.  As people increasingly get behind on their bills, the cries for more direct government assistance will become deafening, and it appears that Republicans and Democrats in Congress both want to pass yet another stimulus bill.

Of course that will mean borrowing and spending more gigantic piles of money that we do not currently have, but at this point most Americans do not seem to care that we are literally completely destroying our financial future.

For such a long time, I warned that the next economic downturn would be worse than the last recession, and that has turned out to be precisely correct.

And what we are experiencing right now will pale in comparison to what is eventually coming.

But for most people, the only thing that seems to matter is what is happening here and now.

And at this moment we are seeing tremendous economic suffering in major cities all over the nation, and in an election year very few of our politicians want to be the “bad guy” that says that we can’t hand out “free money” to everyone.

So our currency will continue to be rapidly devalued, our debt levels will continue to explode, and we shall get to see where this relentless march toward socialism takes us.

The protesters wanted to show everyone how compassionate they could be, and so they invited Seattle’s homeless population to share their free food.

Well, it turns out that the homeless people grabbed more of the food than they should have, and that created quite a crisis…

Yes, she was being quite serious.

If you live near CHAZ and you have extra “vegan meat substitutes, fruits, oats, soy products, etc.” laying around, there are some really hungry radicals that would really appreciate the help.

But please don’t bring them anything that has been heavily processed because that will just make them angry, and if you try to give them anything that contains real meat that could potentially set off a riot.

In addition to a looming food shortage, residents of CHAZ are also dealing with a leadership crisis.  Now that all the police are gone, it was just a matter of time before someone else took charge, and the person that has taken charge is a “heavily-armed” rapper named Raz Simone…

Seattle’s new “autonomous zone” – a six-block area established by protesters after the police and National Guard pulled out of city’s Capitol Hill neighborhood – now has a ‘heavily-armed’ warlord, and he’s already enforcing his streets.

Soundcloud rapper Raz Simone and his entourage have claimed the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) as their territory – and have already been filmed regulating when a man wouldn’t stop spraying graffiti over an urban art installation, telling him “We are the police of this community now!”

Somehow Simone was able to get his hands on an AK-47, and even though we keep being told that these are “peaceful protests”, Simone has told those under his command that what they are facing “is war”…

Simone, a local rapper with an AK-47 slung from his shoulder and a pistol attached to his hip, screamed, “This is war!” into a white-and-red megaphone and instructed armed paramilitaries to guard the barricades in shifts.

Before this stunt, hardly anyone had ever heard of Raz Simone, and I suppose that this is one way to make a name for yourself and sell a lot of records.

At first, Washington Governor Jay Inslee insisted that he didn’t even know that activists had taken over a large section of downtown Seattle.

Later on, he changed his tune, and now he is saying that he is hoping for a peaceful resolution.

And hopefully that is precisely what we will see, but for now the protesters appear to be determined to dig in for the long haul.

Needless to say, President Trump is not amused by any of this.

In fact, he is warning that if local officials do not shut down CHAZ, he will do it himself…

President Trump issued a demand for Democratic controlled Seattle to be brought back under order immediately, as Antifa anarchists claimed control of a six-block zone and a police station.

“Radical Left Governor [of Washington, Jay Inslee] and the Mayor of Seattle are being taunted and played at a level that our great Country has never seen before,” Trump tweeted late on Wednesday.

“Take back your city NOW. If you don’t do it, I will. This is not a game. These ugly Anarchists must be stooped [sic] IMMEDIATELY. MOVE FAST!’” he continued.

It is hard to believe that this is actually happening in America.

But as I keep warning, what we have seen so far is just the beginning.  As economic conditions deteriorate, Americans are just going to get even angrier and even more frustrated.

On Thursday, we learned that another 1.5 million Americans filed new claims for unemployment benefits last week…

About 1.5 million Americans filed first-time applications for unemployment insurance last week, the Labor Department said Thursday. That pushes the tally of those who have made initial claims – a rough measure of layoffs – over the past 12 weeks to a staggering 44.1 million.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.  Once states started reopening, the tsunami of job losses was supposed to stop, but instead we continue to see Americans lose their jobs at a pace that is far beyond anything we have ever witnessed in all of U.S. history.

As I keep reminding my readers, the all-time record for a single week prior to this year was just 695,000.  So until we get below that level, nobody should even think of using the word “recovery” to describe what is happening.

The truth is that the U.S. economy continues to fall apart all around us, and at this point even the New York Times is admitting that damage has been done “to millions of interconnections” throughout our economic system…

The fabric of the economy has been ripped, with damage done to millions of interconnections — between workers and employers, companies and their suppliers, borrowers and lenders. Both the historical evidence from severe economic crises and the data available today point to enormous delayed effects.

“There’s a lot of denial here, as there was in the 1930s,” said Eric Rauchway, a historian at the University of California, Davis, who has written extensively about the Great Depression. “At the beginning of the Depression, nobody wanted to admit that it was a crisis. The actions the government took were not adequate to the scope of the problem, yet they were very quick to say there had been a turnaround.”

If you think that the anger that we have experienced so far is something, just wait until you see what is coming in the years ahead.

We have entered a very disturbing new chapter in U.S. history, and events are beginning to spiral out of control.

Tens of millions of Americans have already lost their jobs, and the very generous unemployment bonuses that they have been getting are set to expire at the end of July.

A great deal of economic pain is on the horizon, a long, hot summer awaits us, and this is an election year.

All of that adds up to big trouble, and more major societal turmoil could be sparked at any moment.

At the center of this controversy is a conservative Senate candidate named Joey Gibson…

For the past week, Vancouver activist, provocateur and senate candidate Joey Gibson has been talking about guns — guns that his friends and supporters with the groups Patriot Prayer and the Proud Boys will likely bring to a self-described “Freedom Rally” in Portland on Saturday.

“Everyone should be carrying around guns at all times, especially in our situation,” Gibson explained in a video, posted to Facebook June 30 to promote the event.

There is certainly nothing wrong with a candidate holding a rally and encouraging his supporters to bring guns.  It happens in other major cities all the time.

And because of the violence that happened last time, conservatives are flying in from all over the country for this event.

“We’ll have people locally showing up from Vancouver, Portland, Hillsboro, California. We have people flying in from Texas and the East Coast,” he said.

If the left simply did not interfere with this rally, it wouldn’t even make national headlines.

But they aren’t going to do that.  In fact, they have been working very hard to promote their “counter-protest”, and they are openly telling us that they “make no apologies for the use of force”…

For its part, Rose City Antifa released a “hype video,” encouraging people to counter-protest Gibson’s rally. They also promised violence.

“History has shown that militant resistance is a necessary and important tool in the fight against fascism,” the video’s narrator intones. “We make no apologies for the use of force in keeping our communities safe from the scourge of right-wing violence.”

In fact, the various Antifa factions are definitely planning a “direct confrontation” with Patriot Prayer and The Proud Boys…

Ahead of Saturday’s conservative rally, Antifa is back at it again – planning a “direct confrontation” with participants, according to a call to action on the leftist website “It’s Going Down.”

“Rose City Antifa has continued their great work of doxxing the Portland area Proud Boys involved in this violence, and is also calling for militant antifascist resistance against Patriot Prayer,” reads the posting.

Portland authorities could prevent this by showing up with overwhelming numbers of police and by completely keeping the two groups separated.

But will they?

For Antifa, the goal of the “counter-protest” is to “chase Gibson and his supporters out of town”…

Organizers of a counterprotest are hoping hundreds if not thousands of people turn up to chase Gibson and his supporters out of town.

“One of the things folks keep saying is ‘If you just ignored them, they’d probably go away,’” Effie Baum, a spokesperson for Popular Mobilization, a coalition of activists formed to mobilize a counterprotest on Saturday, told HuffPost. “There are many examples across history that explicitly tell us this is not true. The community at large in Portland has tried ignoring them… Despite that, Joey Gibson and Patriot Prayer have not gone away.”

I have been warning that civil unrest is coming to America over and over again.  I warned that it is coming in my first book, and I have warned that it is coming on radio and television all across America.  And about a month ago, Portland got a little taste of what is ahead…

On June 30, as a faceoff between opposite ends of the political spectrum exploded into a street fight, enforcement in Portland, Oregon, jumped into action. The march, organized by Patriot Prayer, a far-right outfit with a history of sparking conflict, was met by anti-fascist – antifa – and other-counter protesters. As the clash escalated, the event was declared a riot. Officers in body armor tried to unknot the scuffles. Four people left the scene in ambulances, the Portland Police later said in a statement. Four others left in handcuffs.

Other watchmen are sounding the alarm as well.  For instance, the following comes from an alert that Steve Quayle recently posted on his website…

Ladies and Gentlemen we are in the midst of a war for the fundamental right to be an American. The constitution is under attack from the far left and its democratic leaders. This is only going to get worse from here. America has fundamentally changed; just as Barack Obama wanted. If you ask me, we are only a few more riot/protests away from the left and right clashing to the point of firearms being used. Once that is done, you will force the police to drastically change our approach. I don’t know how that will go but I was there in Ferguson, MO during the BLM riots and in Baltimore for the BLM riots. The police and National Guard will eventually be forced to put down the riots by force and that is not what we want nor need to happen.

Let us pray for peace, because nobody should want to see more violence.

And as I mentioned earlier, the authorities in Portland could stop the violence from happening.  The police need to show up very early in massive numbers, and they need to do everything that they can to keep the two groups apart.

Because if the two sides come face to face, there will be violence.
