47 Percent Of Americans Cannot Even Come Up With $400 To Cover An Emergency Room Visit

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

One Dollar Bill - Public DomainIf you had to make a sudden visit to the emergency room, would you have enough money to pay for it without selling something or borrowing the funds from somewhere?  Most Americans may not realize this, but this is something that the Federal Reserve has actually been tracking for several years now.  And according to the Fed, an astounding 47 percent of all Americans could not come up with $400 to pay for an emergency room visit without borrowing it or selling something.  Various surveys that I have talked about in the past have found that more than 60 percent of all Americans are living to paycheck to paycheck, but I didn’t realize that things were quite this bad for about half the country.  If you can’t even come up with $400 for an unexpected emergency room visit, then you are just surviving from month to month by the skin of your teeth.  Unfortunately, about half of us are currently in that situation.

Earlier today someone pointed me toward an excellent article in The Atlantic that discussed this, and I have to admit that The Atlantic is one of the last remaining bastions of old school excellence in journalism that you will find in the mainstream media.  Of course I don’t see eye to eye with them on a lot of things philosophically, but there are some really hard working journalists over there.

The article where I found the 47 percent figure comes from The Atlantic, and it is entitled “The Secret Shame of Middle-Class Americans“.  It was authored by Neal Gabler, and he says that he can identify with the 47 percent of Americans that don’t have $400 for an unexpected emergency room visit because he is one of them

I know what it is like to have to juggle creditors to make it through a week. I know what it is like to have to swallow my pride and constantly dun people to pay me so that I can pay others. I know what it is like to have liens slapped on me and to have my bank account levied by creditors. I know what it is like to be down to my last $5—literally—while I wait for a paycheck to arrive, and I know what it is like to subsist for days on a diet of eggs. I know what it is like to dread going to the mailbox, because there will always be new bills to pay but seldom a check with which to pay them. I know what it is like to have to tell my daughter that I didn’t know if I would be able to pay for her wedding; it all depended on whether something good happened. And I know what it is like to have to borrow money from my adult daughters because my wife and I ran out of heating oil.

To me, this is yet more evidence that the middle class in America is dying.

Last year, it was reported that middle class Americans make up a minority of the population for the very first time in our history.

But back in 1971, 61 percent of all Americans lived in middle class households.

So what happened?

Well, the big corporations started shipping millions of good paying manufacturing jobs overseas.  Millions of other good paying jobs were replaced by technology, and the competition for the good jobs that remained became extremely intense.

During the good times, the U.S. economy still created new jobs, but most of those jobs were low paying service jobs.

At this point, a majority of American workers have jobs that would be considered low paying.  In fact, 51 percent of all American workers make less than $30,000 a year according to the Social Security Administration.

And once you account for inflation, the truth is that our incomes have been going down for years.  According to a study that was released by Pew Charitable Trusts, median household income in the United States decreased by 13 percent between 2004 and 2014.

That isn’t “progress” any way that you slice it.

If you go all the way back to 1970, the middle class took home approximately 62 percent of all income in the United States.

Today, that number has fallen to just 43 percent.

So the fact that 47 percent of Americans can’t even pay for an unexpected emergency room visit is not exactly a surprise.  To be honest, a whole host of other surveys have come up with similar numbers.  Here is more from Neal Gabler

A 2014 Bankrate survey, echoing the Fed’s data, found that only 38 percent of Americans would cover a $1,000 emergency-room visit or $500 car repair with money they’d saved. Two reports published last year by the Pew Charitable Trusts found, respectively, that 55 percent of households didn’t have enough liquid savings to replace a month’s worth of lost income, and that of the 56 percent of people who said they’d worried about their finances in the previous year, 71 percent were concerned about having enough money to cover everyday expenses.

What all of these numbers tell us is that the middle class is disappearing.  I tend to compare it to a game of really bizarre musical chairs.  With each passing month more chairs are being pulled out of the circle, and those members of the middle class that haven’t fallen into poverty yet are just hoping that a chair will still be there for them when the music stops.

Even during the “Obama recovery”, we have seen poverty in America absolutely explode.  In fact, some brand new numbers just came out that are quite startling.  The following comes from another author for The Atlantic named Gillian B. White

Recently, the Brookings Institution published a report looking at the same idea but giving it a different name. The paper, builds on research from the British economist William Beveridge, who in 1942 proposed five types of poverty: squalor, ignorance, want, idleness, and disease. In modern terms, these could be defined as poverty related to housing, education, income, employment, and healthcare, respectively. Analyzing the 2014 American Community Survey, the paper’s co-authors, Richard Reeves, Edward Rodrigue, and Elizabeth Kneebone, found that half of Americans experience at least one of these types of poverty, and around 25 percent suffer from at least two.

To underscore this point, let me just run five quick facts about the growth of poverty in this country by you…

The number of Americans that are living in concentrated areas of high poverty has doubled since the year 2000.

In 2007, about one out of every eight children in America was on food stamps. Today, that number is one out of every five.

46 million Americans use food banks each year, and lines start forming at some U.S. food banks as early as 6:30 in the morning because people want to get something before the food supplies run out.

The number of homeless children in the U.S. has increased by 60 percent over the past six years.

According to Poverty USA, 1.6 million American children slept in a homeless shelter or some other form of emergency housing last year.

That last number really gets me every time.

How can “the wealthiest and most powerful nation on the planet” have more than a million homeless children?

This is one of the reasons why I hammer on our ongoing economic collapse over and over and over.  It is affecting real families with real children that have real hopes and real dreams.

This is not the way our country is supposed to work.

It is supposed to be “the land of opportunity”.

It is supposed to be a place where anyone can live “the American Dream”.

But instead it has become an economic wasteland where the largest and most prosperous middle class in the history of the world is being systematically eviscerated.

So no, the U.S. economy is not doing “just fine” – anyone that tries to tell you that lie is simply peddling fiction.

I am so blessed last week my dog got sick it cost me 300 dollar yesterday my pet pig got hurt and I had to call a vet to come out. 425 dollars so far I have been blessed I hope it continues.

  • Robert

$400 for an ER visit? On what planet. Late last year my wife was in an ER for 4 to 5 hours to get evaluated for possible concussion. The bill was just over $26,000. $400 won’t get you 4 sheets of toilet paper in an ER.
I realize the point of the article is not medical expense but $400 buys very little at Walmart.

    • Andy

26000! is that possible? Who can afford it in USA. I cannot believe that. It will be cheaper to buy airticket to EU, and you will spare most of your money and possibly you will get better treatment too. Cheers from EU.

There ought to be a statistic of the number of people in the USA who die for lack of simple antibiotics because they are too frustrated w/their wait for ER, don’t want to/can’t pay for a doctor visit, or lack of $5/transport to buy the pills.
        The number may be shocking.

I have nothing negative to say about gay people, but due to being heterosexual and maybe unjustly so, I could never vote for one – especially one that is a pathological liar with a dark evil heart and mind.

But Brazil has a lesbian president that hasn’t worked out very well, and Merkel’s got to be another example – all of them control freaks working toward a one world government.

            Well he’s right about a few things…tis my photo…I am a woman…I like to think I have a good heart…and no, I won’t be voting for Ms. H. • bigskygrl

I would rather be called bigbimbo than resemble the likes of your image any day. And I am not new here, I check in periodically… unlike you, who obviously lives here, probably living off the table scraps of a trolls wages.

The funny thing about antibiotics is that they are free at Publix (you’re in FL so you know what that is) and a few other locations, but you need a $250 doctor’s visit to get an RX for these. Best thing people can do is load up on “fish” antibiotics which are the same as human antibiotics and learn the correct usages and dosing for the different antibiotics.

          • SunnyFlaSnotress

In Florida they also have walk-in clinics .. costing much less. On quick web check, they are pretty tight-lipped about their costs.. not good.. I spotted one saying $90/visit. I thought that Walmart was going to get into this more.

          • Annette Smith

With fish antibiotics, is the binder in them the same? People can be allergic to different things that are used to bind the pills together. I had to use fish antibiotics once, prefer the real ones.

      • alexb1

@Andy: I ended up in a public ER a year ago when I thought that I might be having a neurological event. The ambulance was $700 to go 7 miles to the hospital (our county does not take insurance for ambulances) and then for 4 hours in the ER without any tests beyond a blood draw and a urine test, the bill for the ER came out to $22,000 then came the bills for mysterious doctors who never saw me for another $6500. Insurance allowed about half of both of these charges and paid all but $6500 between my deductible and max out of pocket expenses. I negotiated with the hospital and got a thousand knocked off of my responsibility and I told the “ghost doctors” that they needed to get records of service to me before dime one would come their way (I still don’t have those records nor have they sent me another bill).

Getting sick in the US is a nightmare. Everything you have heard about our “fantastic” medical system is pure BS. The number one cause of bankruptcy in the US is a “high cost” illness.

        • Robert

Spot on! It is a vicious industry. The hospitals are nasty. Antibiotics are not working. Telling a nurse or doctor to wash their ^{%#* hands before touching you makes them mad as the dickens. You are a number in their system–period. If you die or are cured there will be another poor slob brought in for the fleece job. If I have the time to get something serious done it will be in Thailand or India.

        • Gay Veteran

medical costs would fall by up to 80% IF we enforced anti-monopoly and other consumer protection laws against every aspect of “medicine”.

    • Mr. Cipher

Tell them you are an undocumented immigrant.

      • Lennie Pike

Or hide your assets, and then tell em to go pound sand because at first you were willing to pay your and only your bill until they attempted to extort you into paying the bills of about 30 other illegal aliens – one of which now has your job and pays no taxes and who will probably soon be issued an AR-15 with ammo to attempt to confiscate yours.

        • Mr. Cipher

You had me till the AR-15 thing, you went over the depend there.

          • Lennie PIke

I admit – I like going off the deep end, but only because almost always these days it turns out that I was right. Just trying to make sense of who exactly it is that is slated to be the ones who will be issued the excessive amount of guns and ammo that have been distributed to all federal government agencies.

Tyrants no different from Stalin are taking over the world – or was that last thing over the top also. Hopefully it was – soon we will all find out for sure. All I know is that when they begin trying to enforce the more difficult to swallow aspects of Agenda 21, or when other countries stop sending their cheap products to the U.S. including food when the Dollar is history (any day now) they are going to need those weapons – and someone willing to use them against Americans. It is a possibility – a promise of citizenship and more for a little military service.

          • bigskygrl

All good points, esp when one truly understands the diabolical nature of agenda 21 and the PTB behind it and their unwavering commitment to see it through and to the destruction of America.

Broke 3 toes while unloading a truck. Spent 3 hours in the ER getting diagnosed fixed and sewed. Bill was 17 usd (15 euros).Didn’t even bother to give it to the insurance company… 4 days maternity in a single room for my wife was 400 usd.

    • Mondobeyondo

Probably in Canada, you could pay $400 for an ER visit. Or maybe Sweden. In America, $400 isn’t even the cost of the ride to the hospital in the ambulance.

      • Robert

The ambulance ride, 7 miles, was $1500. Not part of the 26k ER Bill.

Yes, Michael is way off in his estimate.. There may be some rural outpost that charges $400 for ER, but likely way off for most of the country

          • Lisa Harper

The 400.00 figure is most likely what some emergency room staff will ask for upfront- being an estimate – co-pay amount. A band-aid nowadays would cost as much.

agreed. had a skiing accident last year. been skiing my whole life and it was a true accident. 20min ambulance ride….out of network of course….billed at 5,300 dollars. In total with health insurance from a “good job” the cost to me was just about 3,000. for 6 hours in the ER and about 8 stitches total. I walked out AMA and denied the CAT Scan as I knew that would be astronomical.

        • Mr. Cipher

Almost better to bleed to death in Amerika.

        • California Taxpayer

$5000 for just the CAT scan and the doctor told me I needed more tests and a complete MRI (at $15,000) and if I didn’t get it I would be dead within a week, that was 6 months ago and i’m still alive an some money left in the bank!

      • California Taxpayer

My Medic and ambulance bill was $1200
        SUX!!!!!

    • gfmucci

Too true. Even with insurance, $400 might be a copy with some plans.

The $400 is just to get in the door. The last ER visit I had ended up costing almost $2000. I had a bout with a BP spike and I sat in bed connected to a BP monitor for several hours — alone. Finally, a doctor came and gave me clonidine. That one teeny pill cost $10. Ridiculous.

    • Lloyd C. Blankfein

Take better care of yourselves and stop eating Doritos all day. America rewards those who strive for better things.

If I ate Doritos all day, I’d be in the emergency room as well.

Yet, $26K is nothing to me because I’m Lloyd. Look me up.

      • Lennie Pike

Your picture causes the hairs on the back of my neck to stand straight up – same feeling I get when I come too close to stepping on a snake.

All of your fellow psychopathic criminal gang members cause pretty much the same reaction: Jack Lew, Hank Paulson, Larry Summers, Stanley Fischer, Gary Gensler, Timothy Geithner, Alan Greenspan, etc. etc. etc.- but nothing like you Blank Fiend.

        • Lennie Pike

Oh, and by the way concerning Jack Lew – Jack is only a nickname – Jacob Joseph Lew is his actual name, but he doesn’t even look Jewish – THAT’S BECAUSE HE IS NOT!!! He’s a member of what Jesus called “the synagogue of satan” made up of fake jews.

Oh yeah – second to Blankfien as that step on a snake feeling goes, has to be Michael Cherthoff, and by now we all should have learned the meaning of his last name.

Do ya’ll have to be hit over the head with it? They can’t believe we’re stupid enough to let them get away with it. So few of them and so many of us. It is only because they control the money and absolutely no other reason.

    • Annette Smith

Just a quick comment. I think that if we looked at a lot of credit reports, we would see that it is the medical bills that drive a lot of people into bankruptcy. Yes, the cost is too high, but I don’t believe in Obamacare.

    • You can check to see what the cost of typical medical services are by Googling health care blue book. I found their website while trying to figure out if we’d been overcharged awhile back. After that, you could try looking up “medical bill review”. With a bill that high, it would be worth it to try and get it reduced. Best of luck to you.

A college of mine when doing his MBA – told me the story that Ronald Reagan’s parents during the great depression made a pact to take a penny and bury it under the house and never to dig it up so no matter how bad things got they would never be penniless!! Those days are fast upon us.

I live in Australia and have never been as broke as I am today – 3 years back was out of work for 8 months, have still not recovered. Personal liquidations are very high. just the price of housing has gone up and there is still opportunity to sell, but soon it all comes crashing down like a whirlwind.

    • Horiboyable .

It wont last. I was from NZ and I follow the housing market in NZ & Oz closely. Part of it is because the Chinese are trying to make off with their gains before the Red Ponzi collapses NZ is delusional and if the collapse is bad like I think it will be (Bond Bubble Burst) you may see some Oz Banks collapse which will take down the NZ banks. The housing bubble out there reminds me of tulip mania. Bonds under pin every economy. This will result in authoritarian governments or war.

        Great post…….thanks !

        • Horiboyable .

Folks are free to ignore reality but they are not free to ignore the consequences of reality.
I have stopped warning folks about the coming economic melt down because most choose to stick their heads in the sand. I gave all my close friends a DVD The Forecaster by Martin Armstrong whom successfully predicted the collapse of Russia in the 90’s and each economic event since and I don’t think one of them watched it.
It’s hard to quantify how bad this will be but I hope we don’t end up full on Mad Max.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Very very BAD……by design to get people to willingly/happily accept The New World Order……

          • Horiboyable .

People will not change until they feel the pain. When they begin to lose their pensions and homes, & jobs that is when they will do something but by then it is too late. Some of the hall marks of a collapsing state is evident. The debasement of our currencies in the west and the abandonment of the rule of law, Hillary not being charged for conducting government business on her personal server and bankers not being charged with fraud. The people are slow to realise that now it is coming clear the system is breaking down, its is now them (state and their pensions & benefits) against us, those whom are expected to produce their wealth to loot.
Unfortunately, the Police know whom is putting butter on their bread. This situation is no different to the collapse of Rome. Politicians offering too many benefits that are not funded, they have borrowed and borrowed to stay in the game but the debt in the west has got to levels they can longer fund without eye gouging taxes being applied to its citizens. Major civil unrest or war is where we are heading.

  • K

You ask, how has it come to this? Who is to blame? You have only to look in a mirror. Things continue to get worse, yet the same people are elected time and time again. This is a nation of the mentally ill. Who do the same things over and over. And yet we expect a different result. We watch elections being rigged right out in the open. Widespread outrage? Nope. This is truly the ultimate insult. The so called elite, do not even feel they have to hide their activities anymore. There are people who spend a thousand times more time on fantasy football, than who they should elect. So what is the solution, elect Trump? Right back to that mentally ill nation. No one man, can have any real impact. You have to bring in a totally new team. And get over the idea, that one party, is any better than the other. The two major parties are equally corrupt. Top republicans announce they will vote for Hillary. Once again, no attempt to even hide what they are doing. Maintain the status quo, so they can continue to stuff their pockets. Widespread public outrage? Nope. This nation is dying. Because there are just too few people who care enough, to try to save it. Dying nations never have good economies..

    • mtntrek3

Yeah, I put little hope in any of the candidates. We’ve been in a downward spiral in the country for several decades. We’re seemingly at an impasse in Congress more often than not. Too much corruption overall. Globalism another factor. A whole new team is what we need. Personally I wish we could just erase the current candidate slate and bring in the lesser known that dropped out early on in the race and pick from them. Wishful thinking however.

      • Raymond Chow

Which among them? They were all professional politicians with no accomplishments in real life. Rand Paul maybe who was a medical doctor but he had no idea either. We have Donald Trump who has all the accomplishment in real life and been talking about the flight of the middle class, the illegal immigration that’s been killing the nation along with corporate inversion and government spending. But still people won’t give him a chance because of some hatred that I don’t even understand or pretend to know.

        • Bill G Wilminton NC

Trump is leading the republican field of candidates and he landslided New York State tues nite…..coming up is a Trump power roll in NJ and Pa…. GO TRUMP

          • Raymond Chow

I was replying to “mtnrek3” because of his statement as follows:

“Personally I wish we could just erase the current candidate slate and bring in the lesser known that dropped out early on in the race and pick from them. Wishful thinking however.”

I was wondering who he’s referring to among the lesser known candidate that dropped out earlier?

            AMERICA FIRST, TRUMP 2016

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            GO TRUMP 2016

          • mtntrek3

Jim Webb was my first choice, a split between Sanders and O’Malley for second choice (Sanders getting too far left for me however) , Hillary third choice. Really I am more Independent, or middle of the two parties overall (moderate), agreeing w/ some beliefs on both sides of the aisle depending on the topic. I have ended up voting on the Dem’s side the past twenty years siding somewhat to the left of center overall. I’ll say it again, I’m pretty much fed up w/ all of it.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            GO TRUMP GO

        • mtntrek3

Ha. Don’t get me started about Trump. He “talks “issues. I’m not seeing anything he says that is realistic concerning solutions. He’s a weasel of another kind also. He doesn’t have the temperament for the job, either. And, yeah I know, not many of the others have much in the way of solutions, either. Like I said, I wish we could wipe the slate clean and bring in some new possibilities for President besides what we have now……….. which is pretty much a joke.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Trump is the only one speaking the truth…listen to what he says….he is the only one who is not a politician.

          • mtntrek3

Hi Bill…… Trump? Who’s that? Lol. I can see your answer coming from a mile away. How goes it? Hope you’re o.k. seriously.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Things are getting darker and darker in our culture…more and more fallen every day…..

We wait for The Lord Yeshua…..goes ok thanks for asking.

I got my eye on ya… lol.

            Gods Blessings
            Shalom

          • mtntrek3

Thanks, brother….. . I’ve backed off commenting so much @ ABC News and certain other sites. Well, I’m as guilty about this as anyone else, but getting into arguments online and elsewhere isn’t productive for any of us. I haven’t been practicing what I’ve preached at times. That being we need to do what we can to hear one another and try to reach across the aisle to find some solutions to issues if possible before it’s too late……. if it isn’t already. I just don’t want us to go from bad to worse in the country, all the while knowing there just aren’t many decent choices out here. And like another commenter said it’s gonna take more than just one man or woman to straighten things out. We need a whole new team. Take care and God bless. Chris

          • bigskygrl

The only team that can and will straighten this mess of humanity out is ‘team Jesus’…that’s just how close we are. Prepare your hearts and minds now for the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! God bless

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            Well said……Shalom

          • mtntrek3

That ‘s exactly right, sister. All throughout history in this country and as mankind in general we’ve hit highs and lows, good times and bad times concerning government, the economy, peaceful times and times of war, etc. ………. but the signs of the times we’re in now point to the Lord coming back soon to set our mess we as humans have made right and start his 1K year reign. Well said.

4 marines and Ambassador Stephens did not live through that EXPERIENCE.

HILLARY the OLD HAG should be a flower lady !

    • kfilly

Voting doesn’t matter. These people select who they want (at least for the presidency). Too many Amerikans are too stupid to realize they are slaves, and that socialism is really just economic slavery. Just look what democratic socialism did to Detroit. It used to be one of the best cities in the world. As soon as people started voting for freebies, the city slowly became what it is today. Amerika is being turned into one giant Detroit via socialist programs. Congratulations Amerikan comrades. You are morons.

      • Joe Trevors

Voting does not matter? If Trump is part of the problem, why are all of the “Elites” condemning him without even saying why? These “Elites” are members of the Secret Societies which promote the One World Order creation. Why do the all say to vote for anyone but Trump?

        • kfilly

He might be a viable candidate, but it won’t change the fact that he won’t win. Computerized voter fraud, in addition to regular voter fraud, will ensure that Hitlery Clinton will be the next POS of the United States of Amerika. You also have to consider that the Republicon party will also try to throw the election by running one of their own as a third party candidate if they even give the nomination to Trump.

          • GSOB

America has no k in it

          • kfilly

The communist version of America has a K. That is the joke on the ignorant Amerikans. I know we are fascist, but pharasing Hitler, there is no real difference between for the serfs in totalitarian fascism or communism. Seeing we are marching closer to a complete dictatorship, I will spell Amerika with a K. We live in Amerika and not America!

          • Raymond Chow

You’ve already made up your mind without even trying. So what’s there to say? Just bend over and take? Why not all of us go and vote for Trump and give it a try? Afterall, 4 years is all it takes. We’re already in the gutter 4 more years will not do any difference unless Trump can do something for a change.

          • kfilly

When I vote, it will be for 1776. You are not going to change the current system with one politician. You are not going to change this corrupt system in one election cycle. It would take many years to accomplish change by voting. We are out of time. They won if you are going to keep playing by their rules and chose to remain in their socialist system. If I do vote, it would be for Gary Johnson. You are already so locked into your false two party system that you probably don’t even know who he is.

          • Raymond Chow

I’m not locked into party system, my friend, this time I’m voting for the only outsider in the group that I know have a chance, and that’s Donald Trump. I’m willing to give it a try one last chance. If the nomination is stolen from him, i’m out of voting for life. You on the other hand just want to throw it away without giving a try. What are you going to do next since you’ve given up and not even willing to change the system? The only thing left is to start an armed rebellion and I can see you don’t want to do that. So, go ahead and vote for Gary Johnson that no one has heard off and get ready to bend over and get a shaft because that’s all you got left. Me, I know I’ve been getting the shaft and willing to give it a try to change the system one more time and after that…hell, I’ll wait until SHTF or die whichever comes first.

          • kfilly

The system is rigged. What don’t you get? Your vote doesn’t matter. Hitlery is the next POS. She will be anointed by the powers that own the US. Heck, I might vote for her just to get things started a little sooner. Take a guess as to what voting from a roof top means, but I am smart enough to know this country is not ready for that yet. Gary Johnson is the Libertarian candidate BTW.

          • alan

I doubt they will let him get much farther. I am pretty sure banker candidate Hillary will ascend to power in January.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            Ha ha lol BS

          • Lennie Pike

I hope she does ascend to power (which is safe to say would be by election fraud), and that the first thing she tries to do is confiscate the weapon that puts Americans on an equal footing with whatever military she will be commander in chief of that makes the attempt – the .223 semi-automatic rifle.

The .223 rifle is today’s equivalent of the musket that armed U.S. Soldiers that the Founding Fathers intended Americans be armed with to fight against a tyrannical U.S. government if it ever attempted to take away our Constitutional Rights.

They will need a little advantage to make things fair, and it will make our victory a little sweeter fighting by their rules (their rules for us) – so we should not convert to fully automatic fire in our attempt to preserve our God-Given and legal right listed in the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution – pretty much the last right these tyrannical fascist criminals have not taken from us.

Did that put me on a dissident list, or was I already on one – catch me if you can.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Trump will just have to show the pictures of the dead marines at Benghazi over and over and over and over and over and then show the old hag with her hands in the air saying ” WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE ”

What a disgusting revolting creature…she belongs in jail.

They died because that scum bag old hag left them behind at Benghazi, and never sent reinforcements….never sent reinforcements…there were special forces units all over the area….Trump will play their testimony of their ability to get to Ambassador Stephens and the 4 marines within 2 hours.

          • Lennie Pike

Giver her a break – she was just trying to make a little money brokering the deal to arm ISIS with Stinger Missiles. If she had called in an airstrike to attempt to save Americans lives it could have blown the whole deal.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

would not surprise me at all….

          • Lennie Pike

I believe there already is a lot of evidence that points to that being true.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

How much prior political experience does Trump have?
            NADA!!! ZIP!!!! ZILCH!!! ZERO!!!
He talks the talk, but never walked the walk.

But hey.. it’s only THE PRESIDENCY!
Maybe next we’ll grab people off the street w/no medical training to do surgery!
Ok, neither did Ulysses Grant or Dwight Eisenhower have a prior politcal position, though both had a strong military background. Dwight being ” The Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in World War II”
and Grant “Commanding General of the United States Army”

How much military background does Trump have? NADA!!! ZIP!!!! ZILCH!!! ZERO!!!
“no major U.S. company has filed for Chapter 11 more than Trump’s casino empire in the last 30 years.”
He has filed four business bankruptcies. Maybe he thinks it’s just as easy to file bankruptcy w/the entire government and walk away.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

You have already run this post 2 other times….both times I answered along with others…..

BENGHAZI…..When Trump shows on TV over, over and over Hillary saying ” what difference does it make now ” her answer after the murder of Ambassador Stephens and the four Marines in Benghazi… SHE IS FINISHED !.

Or the Benghazi widows on TV saying the truth that ” OLD HAG HILLARY ” left their husbands to die in BENGHAZI even when there were special forces troops all over the area that could have done a rescue.

Vote for Old Hag Hillary and maybe she will leave YOUR husband behind.

You WAY underestimate the power of the presidency. There is MUCH a president can do without the consent of congress, and much he can do utilizing what is the bully pulpit of that position to get the American people to pressure congress into working with him. Why do you think they derailed Ross Perot or Ron Paul? Answer: Because the establishment knew what they would be capable of had to gained the power of the presidency. Do not underestimate it.

      • Raymond Chow

I agree about Ross Perot and maybe Pat Buchanan. They were the nationalist. I don’t know about Ron Paul. Ron Paul was a professional, lifetime politician. Now we have Donald Trump, singing the nationalist theme but it seems we still have more people who’d rather have the establishment elites and their paid politicos running the country.

The events that are happening right now in the US of A is why your fore fathers guaranteed gun ownership so you could confront evil and not just be instant victims. Americans were so lucky to have fore fathers that were not just true moral warriors but men whom were intellectuals that tried to put in a system of government that would endure. Most US citizens have acted like a bunch of rich kids that have squandered their inheritance. Not much better here in Europe, tell them the government is shafting them and being dishonest and they will say, Oh I think X Factor is on now, I’ll order a pizza for home delivery.

And go to which pending socialist dictatorship to escape Amerika?

  • California Architect

“Well, the big corporations started shipping millions of good paying manufacturing jobs overseas.”

This started in the late 1960’s. We went off the gold standard and dramatically increased spending on welfare and wars. The spending put money in the pockets of consumers, but government borrowing meant that less money was available for American manufactures to borrow. Manufacturers need access to cheap capital so that they can retool and expand their factories. It was no longer available to American corporations, so they either went out of business (think AMC motors), or relocated some factories overseas (think Apple Computers).

If you want to bring back jobs to America, put an end to all this stupid spending on welfare and wars. Pay down the debt and eventually get back to a reliable currency such as a gold backed dollar. It will take a long time and will probably require a super depression to get there, but it must be done eventually.

    • df NJ

If we paid off the national debt it does not matter. The Chinese have pegged the Yuan 6 to 1 against the dollar. This means a CEO gets 6 Chinese workers for every 1 American worker. The Chinese rule this land my friend. Suck it gwai lo!

      • Bill G Wilminton NC

        Not yet………..

    • Mike Smithy

Unfortunately, the USSA is too far down the rabbit hole to pay off the debt. The only option is outright sovereign default or stealth default via hyperinflation.

      • California Architect

        You’re probably right.

    • Kakistocracy

      the DEBT is Fraudulent.
People wake the hell up !

Let me say it again: ALL DEBTS in ALL COUNTRIES are Fraudulent.
      Why?
Because the currency was issued as a DEBT to a Foreign Family.
Can’t you guys understand this ?
      The DEBT IS FRAUDULENT !
We don’t have to pay it back at all !
We need to claw back ALL OF THE MONIES that the private central banking cartels have stolen from us the people since 1913.

      THE DEBT IS FRAUDULENT !

Understand this and we then have hope.
Understand it not, then we have WAR.
WAR likely in all scenarios but guaranteed in the latter.

      • Bill G Wilminton NC

Has this been tested legally…..although you speak as this is a done deal give me some more info please………any research material on this topic ?
Great post you appear to be very interesting…thanks

Only that can happen in the USA, it is good orlog that, we in Canada have an insurance system to cover this, or better, in Quebec we have a universal regime.

Canada is going communist just like the USSA. Your country is just at a different stage than Amerika.

      • Kakistocracy

        It is.
I am Canadian and I can tell you that Justin Trudeau (Justin Turdo) the current Prime Minister is a hack and got the position through NEPOTISM.

Justine Turdo’s father was Pierre Trudeau (PM of Canada for many years).
Corruption is everywhere especially in Canada.

We also just recently lost a Supreme Court of Canda ruling.
It stated that the BANK ACT supersedes the Charter of Human Rights and Freedom (akin to your Constitution, Bill of Rights).
The ruling came about because one lawyer sued the Bank of Canada for issuing currency as debt to a foreign family: Rothschilds.

        We lost.

It’s fascism. Communism has never existed – fascism has and does exist as the system of government in both Canada and the. U.S..

This is the reason that welfare doesn’t work. As costs rise, more and more people cannot afford necessities, for what ever reason, and then go on welfare. If the movie “The Company Men” did not put on a happy ending, Ben Affleck’s character would have been in front of the TV drinking a beer at 12:30 noon, with a kitchen full of food for him and his family. That is now the American Dream.

This is the result of trying to help the employee by punishing the employer. And we are still at it.

    • Lazarovic

Wrong. Employers, especially greedy large businesses, are the problem. No one would be on welfare if they had a decent paying job, which no employer seems to want to pay anymore. That’s the problem.

      • REALIST

You, obviously, never created a business nor created your own job.

You have always relied on somebody else to provide a job for you and you have had to beg others for work. You can’t even “feed” yourself yet want to tell your bosses what to do? Really?

YOU, go open a business and YOU hire others and pay them “decent paying job”. Then, come back and tell us about it.

        • Lazarovic

I’ll tell ya about it right now. Did you read the article? 47% of Americans are living in permanent poverty because they can’t get paid a decent salary. It wasn’t always like that. One percent of Americans have all the wealth and power, and it ain’t because they’re any more educated or productive. It’s because the system is rigged, and the rich have bought and paid for a Republican Congress that does their bidding, like good little cronies.
They shipped our jobs overseas so they wouldn’t have to pay Americans a decent wage. You know it, I know it, we all know it, so spare me your “I’m a job creator” crap.

        • kfilly

I also have to respond to your post. I have nothing against business. However, I am against corporations. Thomas Jefferson was also aware of the danger of corporate power. He said, “I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country.” Gee, it sounds like the Revolutionary War was to escape fascism. The East India Trading Company had a monopoly over trade in the colonies. Why do you think they had the Boston Tea Party? It was a strike against them. The colonists were also under a debt based monetary system. In a nutshell, both government and corporate must be reduced. That will never happen though as Amerikans like their trivial possessions.

      • kfilly

You are also wrong. The welfare crowd should not even exist. Our government should not be providing free anything to anyone. The people impoverished should be taken care of by those who are well off and by charities. However, corporations should not exist or at the very least should only be granted temporary charters. Funny, how Thomas Jefferson was quoted as saying something to the effect of “crushing the aristocracy that challenges the authority of the government in its infancy”. He was talking about crushing corporate power. Look what happens when we don’t do that. We ended up with this evil, vile, and repulsive government.

You have to look at the bigger picture. The root of all evil is our banking system. Change that back to a monetary system entrusted to the people as originally intended by the Constitution. Limit the scope of government which allows for corrupt corporations to exist (i.e. Wal-Mart pays slave wages and JP Morgan comes into help by printing EBT cards for a fee of course). However, that will never happen because people like their current peaceful slavery and the material possessions used to enslave them.

        • Steeve Girard

The last time Yellowstone really blew, it put six feet of ash in Illinois and six and a half in Nebraska. A geologist who studies it said he wouldn’t live within 300 miles of it. When I was 60, seventeen years ago, I specifically asked the Lord for a dream. The Lord woke me so I’d remember it: I was standing on reddish-brown glassy uneven ground, the trees were leafless, there were no animals or people in sight, but I heard people in the distance, and the air was either smokey or dusty. I walked down a gently sloping bank to a creek fed by a spring. As I walked, I heard a woman’s voice clearly say, “It’s the end of the world.” I knelt and drank, and immediately spat it out; it was absolutely disgusting. Fiddlin

Healthcare costs are irrational. I know the point of the article is people don’t have the money. But 400 bucks for 15 minutes of care and hours of waiting? And for treatment…no cures.

The comments here are the broke should have studied harder. Personally I think the financial breakdown is due to the failings of the people who did study, and went on to become professionals. The professional classes are the real inefficiency in the American economy. Pity their lessers pay the price for the overpaid incompetence.

  • Lazarovic

“This is not the way our country is supposed to work”. Man, I completely agree.

What I can’t figure out is why so many Americans continue to vote Republican. They are the ones who love big, exploitative businesses. They are the champions of Free Trade deals. They are the ones who refuse to do anything to help the middle class. Look at Kansas, Louisiana and Wisconsin. Economic wastelands, due to the Republican party’s slavish adherence to big business and a failed political/economic philosophy.

Before you start blaming Dems, just address my comments. I am right about the Republican party.

    • grumpyhillbilly

We live in a two party, one establishment system. Voting is an exercise in rubber stamping. However you are technically right the GOP stinks. But so do their Dem counterparts. Oh hail the Oligarchs.

    • alan9074

So you vote for Dems and you get NAFTA, or get the TPP, etc. There is plenty of sin to go around buddy. I’m supporting Trump because he’s at least talking about withdrawing from these ruinous trade deals.

      • Lazarovic

See, you didn’t address the comment, went right to changing the subject. Typical, and it doesn’t help. If there is plenty of sin to go around (I agree), why won’t you tell me about the Republican party’s sins? Explain why working class voters are for Trump then? He is shattering the Republican party’s establishment, and they still won’t address the reasons why!

        • alan9074

I’m sorry, let me re-read it. Reply to come shortly.

          • alan9074

Oh, you want me to attack republicans? Who doesn’t know that they’re outright evil? The neo-cons are some of the worst people on the planet. This doesn’t mean that neo-liberals like Obama and Clinton are any better. Please.

          • Lazarovic

They’re a little better. At least they try to mitigate the worst abuses. The Republicans just tell working class people to go to H,E, double hockey sticks.
But, yes, they are part of the problem too. I agree with that brother.

One does not have to look far to see the moral and economic destruction that the Democrat Party has inflicted on the USSA. Over the past 50 years, the Democrat Party has brought poverty and despair to places like Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, St. Louis, Oakland and Camden among others. The bottom line is you show me an American Ghetto and I will show you a place where the Democrats are in power.

Simple, too much ease of life… Our elders built their lifestyle on the backs of hard working underpaid foreign people. They sold and destroyed every resource they could to finance their American way. Now their kids are left with the mess, with their jobs being overseas, their resources being unusable. What can they do?

      • Bill G Wilminton NC

USA elders are not your elders as you are Canadian.

America was built on the backs of Americans and from 1840 to 1980 was the manufacturer king to the world and still has the second largest economy, second only to China.

USA has not sold nor destroyed our natural resources…. we are natural resource rich.

Trump will take care of the factories leaving and will renegotiate the trade agreements which will bring jobs/factories back to the USA.

You don’t need any money when you show up at an Emergency Room. They have to treat you (the Medical Staff is a group of SLAVES). This is how the illegals do it and is why we have ObamaScam.

Hospitals are going broke, or are broke, due to the free health care for 15 million illegals. With ObamaScam, the real Americans pay HUGE premiums and then the government pays about $10,000 per “insured” to the Insurance companies as either a “tax credit, tax rebate of subsidy” (all meaningless terms).

AND, the real Americans have $6,000 deductibles since everything paid INTO the system is marked for the Hospitals. You still have to pay your own health care, out of pocket, with the high deductibles. You really don’t have insurance. The illegals do.

Now, the Hospitals are allowed to bill the Insurance Companies what ever they need to keep open, and the corrupt Insurance Companies have this new money to pay the inflated Hospital bills……..to provide free health care for 15 million Mexicans.

I’m in the business. I know.

Maybe he would cut down on all the rest of these clowns stealing from us, and be the only one!!!
This throws a wrench in it for me.
Actually, decided not to vote for anyone, last month, was going to vote for Trump only because he was in outsider, but after his flip flop about women and abortion.

Read what I said above…trump is not supporting transies into ladies room…

On abortion trump should have only said “each state will decide by referendum” but instead he gave a Godly answer he originally said both the doctor and the woman should be penalized…he then backed off the woman penalty.

He is against abortion but for planned parenthood because it helps woman in STD but with Trump Presidency NO ABORTION ! !

          • victor

I will check out the news again, to see what was said. I see Target has took a stand.
I think it was stupid of him to say the doctor would be penalized and the woman, then flip flop. Yes, God knows each of us while in the womb, as the scripture says. He is our creator, though some deny His existence
I hope I understood it wrong, brother.

Hi Bill ~ I heard Trump say that he supported the transgender restrooms. Specifically, he said that transgender people should use the bathroom they feel is appropriate. He was on the Today Show when the remarks were made.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Maybe that is the answer….maybe that is what these freaks have been doing all along but unbeknownst to us.

I have confidence in Trump but sometimes wish he would just avoid some questions like this and just say to leave it up to state by state referendum. Except for abortion that is murder.

          • GoldenGirl

            Wouldn’t surprise me at all.

I don’t have confidence in any politician to stop what is going on (or what is coming) at this point, even the “non-politician” Trump, because our problem is not political, it is spiritual.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

Yes it is spiritual, great point….but we still need someone driving the bus and if it is Hillary… well I am pretrib zoom.

Trump could never have made it this far without God’s guidance….what plan does God have for Trump……

Remember one very important fact the WH a/effects the safety of Israel….I believe that Trump will be the repub candidate and then will absolutely pulverize Hillary.

I believe that I have said this before….there are 2 million Jews in NYC and after the financial collapse they will need help in getting to Israel and as Pres Trump could aid immensely….maybe that and being an ally to Israel as we always have been… for as long as possible in our flattened third world bananna republic financial condition that the financial collapse will leave us.

            Watch think…..

          • GoldenGirl

You bring up very good points about Israel. And yes, I do remember you said that about the NYC Jews. So much we don’t know about what is going on behind the scenes. Hope you are right about Trump. Watch, think . . . and pray.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

One thing for sure Hillary serves the beast……if that monster is in The WH…there goes balance in the Supreme Court and goodbye 2nd amendment….make a nice pile of rocks behind your house !

But that would mean that The Great Departure is sooner rather than later…yippee goodbye to septic tank living and welcome to Glory.

          He is a conservative…I believe.

I’m not surprised. This whole media thing about restrooms is such utter non-sense. It’s beyond embarassing. And from this point forward I will not enter a pubic lady’s room without my walker knife and super strong pepper spray.

That said, let me make one thing clear re: Trump. I am not for him or against him per se, but I enjoy (immensely) watching him derail Ted “Candy Wrapper” Cruz and the rest of the corrupted GOP establishment. And for the love of God, ANYONE but her Heinous come heck or high water this November.

Trump wants the states to handle the social issues. The Federal government should be in the business of providing national security (a strong military and border control) and taking care of our vets.

Anything beyond that turns into a screwed up mess and a waste of money. They can’t even put together a budget and are totally irresponsible with money.

It all boils down to the choices you make, and HOW you decide to live with what income you receive. Michael, when you comment about the good jobs going overseas perhaps you should mention the cheap products being shipped back. Back in the good old days, you could rely on decent standards. But how many times have the new replacements proven to be of vastly poorer quality. We have a water heater which was a German brand and recently we had to replace a part. The bloke who came out saying it was one of the few brands you could repair because the cheaper imports (notably from Asia) are not repairable. The don’t sell parts and often a company will “pop up” with cheap product only to disappear and the sellers wont support them. If you get a washing machine to last 5 years its a miracle. Not only, that but there is plain corruption. Several car companies (Kia, VW and now Mitsubishi (amongst others) have been found to falsify mileage performance.

    • Lazarovic

Ya, I bought a log splitter from Harbor Freight tools. The hydraulic fluid lines burst the first time I started it up, cheap Chinese-made crap. When I called for a replacement hose, I was told it would take four months, on the next ship from China, but I had to wait for the boat to fill up with stuff before she sailed! I swear to God that’s what they said! Splitter works now, but I had to wait four months for the part. Worse, the company puts a wall between customers and themselves; you can only contact them by phone.
Now, I don’t buy anything from them but hand tools.

      • aldownunder

We live in a disposable society
If everything lasted like it did 30-40yrs ago all the company’s would have gone broke by now.
I think the Japs where the first to cotton on to it and started down grading quality for cheap quantity

  • TimeHasCome

The last ER visit my wife had the charged our insurance $18,600 . My insurance company said no so they dropped it to $5,500 . My insurance company paid $ 3,600 for a seven hour visit . The hospital then demanded the difference out of us and we said no.

  • That title… OUCH.

First of all, an emergency room visit should not cost that much money. Other countries do not charge that kind of money for emergency room visits. I’ve been living in Asia for 20 years, so I know a bit about such things.

But, the idea that almost half of all Americans cannot afford the smallest amount of emergency care… OUCH.

    John Little
    omegashock dot com

    • Guest

In Canada, it is free when going to the ER, and the patient will not be turned away. Some Americans envy our medical system, but the quality of care has been steadily declining. I wrote a reply to a fellow Canuck above regarding my personal experiences. I have never seen people so overworked and stressed out as I saw the nurses in the maternity ward.

I think Michael is right on what he wrote. I have family in the U.S. An uncle ended up in emerg, and his family could not afford medical insurance. He was brain dead upon arrival, and on life support for a few days (3-5) waiting for family members to arrive to say their final goodbyes. His immediate family members ended up going bankrupt due to the medical costs and funeral. In fact, he was not buried for awhile until his family could afford the funeral costs.

Sending illegal immigrants back to their own country would help. They are using our services and not paying taxes. This in turn causes more states to be in the red having to cover these expenses. Dwight D. Eisenhower did what Trump should do and that is to announce that the Federal Government will bring back Operation Wet..back. Talk about saving jobs and send people back to their country. This would save billions of dollars and there would be more jobs for those who are here legally. Trump 2016.

The decimation of the middle class is a multi-generational phenomenon that was political lobby led by multi-national American corporations seeking to maximize their shareholder value re manufacturing non-USA at the expense of the American populace, being a “race to the bottom” in terms of costs wherein once your competitor did so, you had no choice but to also do so to survive as a business. Largely started with the free trade agreements, none of which were fair trade, wherein, e.g., now, only 5% of the apparel sold in the USA is in-USA manufactured. Even go back to the the early 1970’s wherein Japanese manufactured steel was utilized to construct New York’s World Trade Center towers because over $20 million was saved in steel material costs vs. utilizing USA manufactured steel. If slavery were once again declared legal, would be far cheaper to purchase them in Africa and ship them to the USA than to employ native Americans.

Simply speaking, in any labor intensive industry, you cannot expect to cost effectively compete with a competitor whose employees are willing to live in a cardboard box, as such is the case with many third world countries where the human condition is no more than a Fritz Lang METROPOLIS of hidden, oppressed labor.

After reading this excellent article, filled with facts and not simply opinions and MSM propaganda, ask yourself while you read, “What should we Americans expect from our highly touted consumer economy in the coming months and years?” Will job prospects improve? Will our manufacturing base improve? Will alien migration slow? Will education improve? Will corruption diminish? Will the standard of living for most Americans (all demographics) grow – or – will most demographics continue on the their current trajectory of dependency and government welfare? What happens to the overall economy when the ‘middle class’, the purported engine of our ‘great’ economy, is for all practical purposes – gone? Where are the consumers going to come from? The government? How long will that last? If I didn’t know that we are being disrespected with ‘taqiyya’, I’d think someone in our government was lying to us.

    • df NJ

The American worker making the median wage is absolutely the lowest priority of all government legislation and policies. The government is fine just the way it is. Why are you complaining when every year the top 1% are accumulating a greater percentage of our country’s wealth. Most people living here are just rentals anyway. The people who own this country are doing great! The economy is doing great! The top 1% are doing great! Quick complaining.

Americans are very proud of their health care system. It is the world best. The highest tech in everything. They are also proud that health care is bought like cars, electronics, house, food, insurance, movies. You get what you paid. No pay, no get. It is the world best capitalistic health care system.

But then America have the world only capitalistic health care system.

Donald Trump, if elected, will make it 100% perfect. Isn’t nice to know if you don’t have $400, but really $40,000 when all the bills arrived, you don’t need to be bothered with emergency? You die knowing you have contributed to the grandeur of capitalism.

And to top things off….Obamacare premiums are expected to radically increase. The medical industrial complex in this country are a group of vultures. If they can’t clean you out when you are alive, they pick the carcass of your estate when you are dead.

    • df NJ

I get a lot people think Obama is some scum sucking a hole and all that. From my own experiences, my healthcare premium has gone up 20% per year for 15 years now. Every 5 years it doubles in price. It’s almost more than my mortgage payment right now. My salary has not gone up 300% in 15 years. As soon as it is more than my mortgage payment I’m probably going to stop paying it. I think Obamacare is a worthless POS legislation that has had absolutely no affect on decreasing or increasing the velocity of healthcare premium increases. Healthcare industry is like the Pentagon back in the 80s with the $500 toilet seats and hammers. It’s just out of control unadulterated greed of Satanic proportions.

      • illusion

One thing I am sure you have not mentioned is that your deductible has progressively increased, while your actual coverage has gone down. Obama’s signature health care legislation was written by health insurance corporate lobbyists. I would like to see what the Congress and Senate pay for their healthcare.

        • Bill G Wilminton NC

They pay 0 and are not in the Obamacare program but have their OWN…..that says it all folks.

I was told that Hong Kong is very capitalist oriented. Yet the ambulance brings all A&E cases to the public hospital where the admission fee is HK $100. I once had this experience with suspected heart attack. And after a night of tests and observations that’s what I paid.

  • df NJ

The healthcare crisis can be solved by making marijuana and mushrooms legal. This way people can self-medicate themselves to the point there they no longer care about their health outcome. We will save billions. Pot is the only answer. It will create jobs and people will not be a bunch of a holes we have now!

    • ALWAYSTOMORROW

Ought oh. You mean pot isn’t legal?

And to paraphrase it with the Count of Monte Christo: what’s the fuss with $400? That’s what I carry in my wallet, or at least have in cash at home.

  • Michael Mallal

Public hospital bills are mainly covered by Medicare in Australia, at least for now. I guess USA squandered her health dollars on tax cuts for the rich, wars and hand-outs to various sources. Something to think about next time you’re in am ambulance heading to hospital.

Bread and Circuses: Free food (food stamps) and Cable/internet will keep the masses placated until global economic collapse.
The goal is to bankrupt the nations of the world in order to bring in a global electronic currency. The globalists will `sell` the idea by wiping out all national debts in return for going along with the plan.

    • Common Man

I ran across a good quote by Aldous Huxley about placating the masses — “A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.”
Give them free food and let them slip into a mindless coma in front of some sort of glowing screen (take your pick), and they won’t notice or even care as the country falls apart around them.

Michael, 400 dollars for an emergency room visit? Makes me chuckle. Would love to see you write an article on the fleecing of America by the medical and pharmaceutical MAFIA in cohort with the government and insurance heads all marching to the orders of the global elites and their incidious agenda to bankrupt America through illness, job loss, obamacare and on and on. If obamacare premiums and copays don’t bankrupt you
then your ER and or hospital bill will surely drive the nail in the coffin for most Americans. And to think it was all ‘sold’ to us as this great program to save us money…”The AFFORDABLE Care Act”. It is just the opposite when you look at the total picture…and all by design!

Actually, if you take the time to read, America was based on Freedom, sanctity of the Individual, Reason, Freedom from Religious Doctrine, Abolishing the Aristocracy, the end of the Divine Right of Kings (based on Religion), etc.

We are, really, in practicality, a “Godless” society based on the natural laws of MAN (Darwinism and other scary stuff, but I don’t want to depress you too much all at once).

MAN, you and me, have the right to life and liberty simply because we exist. We don’t need “rights” from Kings and Queens nor do we need their “permission”. Who the F are they to give YOU permission.

MAN, you and me, have the right to life and liberty simply because we exist and we don’t need the “rights” from some pedophiliac Pope or Mohammed or mythological Abraham. THEY are no better, or worse, than YOU. No “holy book” grants you life. Life grants you life.

    • Mark

Although I agree with you 75% of the time when posting your remarks I believe you and many others on this blog are missing the point of what the author is trying to explain. You may be older than me and sound a lot like my father with his views but the reality is this is not the same country it was 40/50 years ago and the opportunities are being destroyed for the future generations in this country. The middle class continues being wiped out as people have less opportunity there will be less work, lower income, higher unemployment, and no retirement. I am not sure if 47% do not have $400 saved but a majority do not make enough to save for the future and are probably living pay check to pay check. Many work hard, study hard and probably have more education and intelligence than you. Maybe you were just given more opportunity than the ones today and could be rewarded for the fruits of your labor. Back in the good old days it was easier to get a head and save for the future. I know acquaintances who have PHDs in chemical engineering that have been laid off from reputable companies recently not being able to find a job. Do you scold them for not carrying $400 in their wallet. Besides who in the hell carries $1000 in their car except old farts like my dad and you who still do not use a debit card and pays cash at the gas station. Please…You maybe thumping your chest thinking your the man but I bet your retired and thinking the world has not changed. My father/mother and I do not always see eye to eye on everything since we are from different generations. Also, they still think as if it were the 50s/60s and it is not. Unfortunately my dad would never make it in todays world thinking like he does now. I’m not putting him down nor should he have to change his ways but the reality is REALIST many your age and older did not have to be as educated or as driven to succeed. You just had to make the effort. Not in todays world. Now someone young needs a PHD to just get noticed. Even worse if you are educated and have put in your time employers may never hire you because you have to much experience and education. Being retired and living the good life is great and I admire my dad that he can live that dream. However, please be some what understanding of the younger ones that do not and probably will not get that same opportunity. At least give them credit for trying to keep their heads above water with what little they do have.

I have not seen the second movie yet. But here is an answer for you. If you choose to watch the first movie, I would encourage you to bear in mind he date of the movie, and how much has changed since then. And yes, I believe we will see wars in our generation. In fact, the whole world is already on fire, it’s just that the wars are not all being fought the way our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers had fought. Yet. By the way, I am not an American, but Canadian. My country is not very far behind America in terms of decline, and maybe be even further down the road. Heck, look who we have as a PM now!

My father-in-law, who, along with my mother-in-law, was a child in Germany during the war, told me upon meeting him for the first time, that he sees the same things that happened in Germany that led to what we know happened, occurring now, only on a global scale.

Michael, what do you think about giving free money to all citizen.?
I ask you this because Switzerland want pass a new law in June , give 2500 dollars to all Swiss citizen.

the key point are : less government offices(retirement office will be gone) , more money circulating, creation of new jobs as people will be self employed, less stress, it will boost the economy as people will tend to spend more, etc.

can we have the same system in the USA?

That sort of stimulus is basically welfare for everyone. Most of that money will basically get funneled into the vaults of the top 1%, as usual… and will continue to devalue the currency.

    Mark 16:19-20

So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.

And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word by the signs that followed.

And they promptly reported all these instructions to Peter and his companions.

And after that, Jesus Himself sent out through them from east to west the sacred and imperishable proclamation of eternal salvation.

Actaully. things are likely to get a whole lot worse pretty quickly. While the truth of how tight money is for many is bad news, the things that happened last week that seem to have pretty much got captured in the filters without dripping out into the public domanin could, and likely will, have tremendous ramifications.
Who was talking about the secret emergency meetings the Fed held on Monday AND on Tueday last week? Who was talking about the apparent emergency meeting held between Fed Chair Yellen and the Prez?
What did they talk about? Was it about Deutche Bank? Perhaps. Was it about the new gold backed yuan of China that is not convertible into or out of US dollars that could force billions/trillions of them back into the US? Was it about the issues with the 9/11 report that in some way implicaed the Saudi leadership in the 9/11 event, which could also have an impact on the amount of dollars flowing back to the US?
Was it about ALL of these things? It seems to me the last two, and specifically the first of these, are the major ones and yet the first reason being sold to the public for the meetings regards Deutche. What is sold publicly is almost always NOT the true reason!
If all those dollars floating around in other nations begin finding their way back home so foreign nations can invest in the reserve currency of a gold backed yuan instead of accepting a promise for a piece of paper printed by the Fed, there are going to be a lot more than 50% of people in the US that don’t have $400 for an emergency room visit.
The US population said back in 1995-6 that it didn’t care about the morality of a president, just continue to give us a good economy and we will be happy and not care what you do publicly or privately.
Well, the economy is about to die. But good news! We still have immoral and unethical leaders (sarc), only now it is in every position of leadership in the nation: business, labor, politics education, charities, religious, etc…!! No doubt they will all be there clamoring to suck at the breast of the public that once voted to go in this direction instead of holding its leadership responsible to conduct its affairs in a righteous manner. Now we have the chance to vote for his wife who has been involved in one controversy after another since he was elected and seems far worse than he! Seems a fitting end to a once great nation!
Too bad we didn’t realize that what goes around comes around! Measure for measure!

At the Giant store a light container of kitty litter, a Sunday newspaper and a small bottle of Tide detergent cost $27. I remember when I was a kid my mother went to the local Red Cross donated blood and received $10. That $10 covered a weekend worth of groceries. Soup was 9 cents a can for instance. What happened to those days? In 1976 a two day pass to Disney World cost $15 per person…$45 for a family of three. Today it costs more than $600. Another amazing stat, prior to the creation of the central bank (1913) American currency devalued by 6% (1776-1912). Since 1913 the devaluation 98%.

As you read or-read the article, filled with facts, not simply opinions and MSM propaganda, ask yourself while you’re reading, “What should we Americans expect from our highly touted consumer economy in the coming months and years?” Will job prospects improve? Will our manufacturing base improve? Will alien migration slow? Will education improve? Will corruption diminish? Will the standard of living for most Americans (all demographics) grow – or – will most demographics continue on the their current trajectory of dependency and government welfare?

What happens to the overall economy when the ‘middle class’, the purported engine of our ‘great’ consumer economy, is for all practical purposes – gone? Where are the consumers going to come from? The government?

If I didn’t know that we are being disrespected with ‘taqiyya’, I’d think someone in our government was lying to us.

Remember, what we call “the middle class” is what Communists call, “the bourgeois”. They hate the bourgeois, and see their destruction as a necessary step before society can be remade along communist principles. This is not accidental or incidental, but part of a determined effort by the left … who are now the democrat party. They are far enough along that they no longer hide their terminology, the blacks now use the phrase “boojie” as an epithet for successful blacks that have “sold out”. It’s their mispronunciation of of “bourgeois”.

It is the family, the middle class, and the judeo/christian religion that blocks communism, because they provide individuals with a protective structure separate from The State. People who have those will always value them higher than their relationship with the government, and they encourage self-reliance as a more effective means of advancement than dependence on The State or a political party. Therefore, to communists, they are an impediment that must be stamped out.

Now you can look at the policies that have been implement or advocated by the left, since the late 60’s, and see the end goal in that context.
