If Our Mayors Are THIS Corrupt, What Is The Rest Of The Population Like Behind Closed Doors?

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

CorruptionIt isn’t just the politicians in Washington D.C. that are deeply corrupt.  In this article you will read about two prominent mayors that have engaged in absolutely horrific behavior, and you will read about a sex scandal out in California that involved 24 different police officers sleeping with the same prostitute.  The reason why I write about these things is not to gross you out.  Instead, the goal is to get America to take a long look in the mirror.  Ultimately, we aren’t going to turn this country around by electing the right president, because the truth is that the biggest problem with this nation is in our own hearts.  Until we get our hearts right, nothing is going to really change.

When I was growing up, mayors were people that you looked up to and respected.  But these days many of them appear to be sex-fueled maniacs.  Just consider the case of Fairfax, Virginia mayor R. Scott Silverthorne.  If you are not familiar with Fairfax, it is an upscale D.C. suburb that is only about 20 miles away from the White House.  Silverthorne was serving his third-term as mayor, and most people thought he was a good guy until it was discovered that he was trading meth for group sex with men

The mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, is resigning following his arrest for allegedly attempting to trade methamphetamine for a group sex session with men he met online.

City officials said in a news release Monday that R. Scott Silverthorne’s resignation will take effect at noon Thursday.

Silverthorne was arrested last Thursday on a felony drug distribution charge.

Following his arrest, Silverthorne was also fired from his job as a substitute teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools.

In case you don’t already know, the Washington D.C. area is one of the hotbeds for gay culture in the entire country.  In fact, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority runs extremely graphic gay hookup ads while at the same time absolutely refusing ads that promote the Christian faith.

Meanwhile, the mayor of Stockton, California has been arrested for playing strip poker with boys and girls at a disadvantaged children’s camp

A California mayor has been accused of playing strip poker with six members of a disadvantaged children’s camp after plying them with alcohol.

Anthony Silva, 41, the mayor of Stockton, was arrested on Thursday morning after police say they found an audio recording of the poker game on his phone.

Investigators say Silva invited at least three girls and two or three boys into his bedroom at the camp in August last year before convincing them to strip off.

I think that the question I posed in the headline is quite legitimate – if this is how our mayors are behaving, what is the rest of the population doing behind closed doors?

Elsewhere in California, an 18-year-old prostitute is at the center of an almost unbelievable police sex scandal

The 18-year-old girl goes by the name “Celeste Guap,” and admits she’s slept with two dozen officers from various police departments.

Guap told KPIX she had sex with 14 officers from Oakland Police Department, 5 from the Richmond Police Department, 3 Alameda County Sheriff’s deputies and one Livermore cop.

She says in exchange some officers gave her protection and tipped her off about undercover operations while she was working as a prostitute.

Reportedly, she first began to have sex with police officers when she was 16 years old, and they would pass her around like a trading card.

And these are the men that we are relying on to enforce the laws and to protect our families?

This is not a matter of just two or three police officers engaging in illicit behavior.  We are talking about two dozen men that were brazenly betraying their communities and making a mockery of everything their police departments are supposed to stand for.

This is the kind of nation that we have become, and signs of our moral decay are everywhere.

For instance, we just learned that in 2015 more than 40 percent of all babies born in America were born to unmarried mothers for the eighth year in a row

Of the 3,977,745 babies born in the United States of America in 2015, 1,600,208 of them—or 40.2 percent–were born to unmarried mothers, according to data released this month by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

That makes 2015 the eighth straight year that 40 percent or more of the babies born in the United States were born to unmarried mothers, according to CDC data.

But prior to 2008 this had never happened before in our entire history.  And if you go all the way back to 1940, only 3.8 percent of all babies were born to unmarried women

In 1940, 3.8 percent of the babies born in the United States were born to unmarried women. The percentage first went as high as 10 percent in 1969, when it was 10.0 percent. In 1983, it surpassed 20 percent for the first time, hitting 20.3 percent. In 1992, it exceeded 30 percent for the first time, hitting 30.1 percent.

At the same time, crime and violence continue to rise in this nation.  Last month was the deadliest July in 10 years for the city of Chicago, and police officer shooting deaths for the country as a whole were up an astounding 78 percent during the first half of this year.

It is getting to the point where it is starting to become difficult to blame people that are afraid to leave their own homes.  Our streets are becoming increasingly dangerous, and there are some very, very sick people out there.  If you doubt this, just consider what just happened to a young and promising Google employee

A Google employee from New York City who disappeared on an afternoon jog while visiting her mother in Massachusetts has been found murdered in the woods.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. said Monday that 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte was reported missing after failing to return from a run between 1pm and 4pm in Princeton.

Her body was discovered at around 8.20pm Sunday by a state police K9 unit near Brooks Station Road, about a half-mile from her mother’s home.

A source told Fox25 in Boston that investigators were examining the possibility that Marcotte was sexually assaulted and set on fire, with burns to her hands, head and feet.

How twisted and evil do you have to be to do something like this?

It is election season, and a lot of people out there truly believe that America will be turned around if we elect Donald Trump.  Others are completely convinced that Hillary Clinton is the solution to what ails us.

But in the end, no election can fix what is wrong in our hearts, and that is the biggest problem facing this country.

America doesn’t need to look in the mirror….. it’s up to each individual. Isaiah said, “Whoa is me”. He realized that he was the problem and acted accordingly by coming to THE LORD!

    • df NJ

Or, rather than be submissive to the Lord, we the people rise up together in strength and unity and demand our leaders behave morally.

When Moses went up to the mountain the children of God went out to play. They said, Aaron, Moses is gone, make us a God of pretty please… so Aaron gathered up their gold and formed it into a calf. Then the people worshiped it and had whoopee in the desert. The results….? Well, three thousand of them were killed. You see, not everyone is acting evil. There are good people is USA following God and not running off to idols as soon as they don’t “feel” Him. Unfortunately, some people will be wiped out, the ones that sin terribly by lacking faith and trust in God and following the sinful desires. SIN SIN SIN SIN SIN SIN SIN. I know we have a hard time with that word.. It’s so mean and hateful full of hate speech. Boo Hoo!

  • my observation

Tell people they’re animals and what do you get?!! Take God out of society and what do you expect?!! Marriage is of no value. Babies are of no value. Drugs are cool. He can’t handle life? Here’s a pill. No time to wait. God, you’re taking tooooo long. I think I’ll help you out. Human life is taken without much though. People are self centered. They have grown cold. A generation of walking dead. They look alive. I see them walking, talking, and taking selfies. But, they’re dead inside. No life, no substance and they all want to be famous. So sad..

You preach a liars faith. There were no israeli slaves in old Egypt, which makes your old testament a liars book. Your ill behavior proves you actually follow a devil.

          • Ricardo

No there weren’t any israeli slaves in old egypt. But there were Hebrew slaves and the surrounding nations acknowledged their existence during their 40 years in the wilderness.

        • df NJ

You can only know what you experience. There is no evidence for the existence of God only what you claim is evidence. That’s why people have faith because there is no evidence.

          • Jerry C

Your faith in nothing is greater than my faith in God. No evidence? It’s everywhere; from the furthest reaches to our known universe to the smallest atomic level. You can even look in the mirror for a miracle against all mathematical odds. You. Choose. Not. To. Believe.

          • watchmannonthewall

You order yor entire life based on circumstantial evidence which is often less persuasive than that which is written in scripture and corroborated by historical evidence.
My “faith” is founded on factual evidence. Where is Jesus’ grave? Twelve men testified that they saw the Lord raised from the dead after His crucifixion. His brothers also did the same.
No one today disputes there was a man named Yeshua who was put to death by the leaders of Judah and the Romans on a tree in the 1st century. Where is His grave? Where is His body?
What about other eyewitness accounts of people being raised from the dead or receiving a healing?
Do you read history? Do you believe eyewitness acccounts of what took place? If you were on a jury, would you dismiss an eyewitness account because you don’t agree with it? Is an eyewitness account admissable as evidence in court?
It is absolutely amazing to me how so many today want to dismiss eyewitness testimony of those they don’t agree with in order to hold to their fantasies. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!
I have learned a lot of things in life without experiencing them.

          • Gay Veteran

every religion on the planet think that their “god” is THE god

          • watchmannonthewall

True, and only one of those worships a God who took upon Himself the form of a man, came to earth to be mistreated and murdered by His created beings to fulfill a covenant He made with Abraham so His created beings could be made righteous and receive a new heart to have a restored relationship with Him. Can you guess which one that is?

          • Gay Veteran

and you base that on a book written by men

          • watchmannonthewall

Yes sir, and of those who testified as to what they saw 10 of them were willing to have other men murder them, and in a number of cases, torture them, rather than to do the easy thing and simply fade away into obscurity thereby admitting they were lying with their testimony. I am quite sure if their character was to lie as to what they saw, they wouldn’t have been willing to die for their lie. Would you?

          • sistersoldier

The Bible was written by holy devout men or servants of the Most High God as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The reason this sacred inerrant text was filtered through the fallible human mind is because sin-filled fallen man can not look upon the divine glory of God and live. In the beginning was the Word, the Word became flesh, the Bible is proof of this flesh or rather is the new flesh/bread of life. God allowed men to write the Bible for our protection because if He were to speak directly to us in our unrepentant sinful form via His holy pure language our finite minds would be incapable of interpreting such an infinite heavenly conversation and neither could you read the writing, it would blind you. In other words it is of necessity that one must die (shed your human form) in order to understand it. The Apostle Paul said that he was caught up into Paradise. The things he heard were too sacred for words, things that man is not permitted to tell.

A little wisdom goes a long way.

i cant see the wind… apparently it doesn’t exist

          • Felipe Jones

And that is why it is called an “act of grace”. It has nothing to do with human intellect and everything to do with divine sovereignty. The key is way back
in the OT where God says to Moses “I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

Referred to as “the divine initiative” when it happens to an individual it is unmistakable and you get the proof you need. It’s what everyone wants (or should want anyway). You should not turn your mind away for a change with these old human arguments but rather turn toward God (Jesus) and seek. There is a promise that none will be turned away.

          • meatwad_SSuppet

Trying to teach the willingly ignorant is a time waster. Imagine the ones actually planning to “survive the end of the world”. They actually say this.

          • GSOB

In order to not hear Jesus say to you, “Away from me, I never knew you, you worker of lawlessness.” ….

You had to experience Christ as life, as the bread which comes down out of heaven…For the Lord God desires to be the strength of His people.

      • CASTIEL

Brian, when you said “Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” it brought back memories of things Debra Murphree use to tell me in that hotel down in West Palm Beach.

When it comes to politicians corruption is not new. The difference is the degree. Common thieves have long occupied political office. Now along with being thieves, they are also perverts, and in some cases murders. The police? What do you expect? Major forces have not hired someone with an IQ over 105 since the year 2000. And most will not tell you how low on the scale they go. Add all this to the ever increasing level of evil, in this Country. And you have where we are today.

    • SnohtBlossom

Thanks for your prayers. America is anti-Christ. It’s no wonder why our society has degraded and our standards have fallen.

      • Joe Trevors

To Anonymous: I would like to comment on your note. I think the United States as the most powerful nation in the history of the world qualifies to be the new Head of the New Roman Empire. Is not the United States the Head of NATO + United Nations? In so many ways the United States can be called the revived Roman Empire. Who is the United States following? Would that not be the Antichrist the U.S. & other nations under the U.S. are following? I do not know where the Antichrist is but most likely he is in Israel or another Middle East nation? Just as Jesus Christ was born into Israel so the Antichrist might come within the Jewish people & try to deceive them. Eventually the Jews will realize who Antichrist really is & then they will return to Jesus Christ.

        • anonymous

I was thinking the False Prophet of Revelations could be Pope Francis. The anti-Christ of Revelations could be Obama. But I like what you said about America being the revived Roman Empire, most definitely true.

Northern Bud & Anonymous: I believe the Book of Revelation is opening to us more fully: as each day goes by more is revealed, that is what I am trying to say. I agree a lot of what I am saying is speculation about what I understand at the present time. Here is another possibility for the United States that might scare you like it scares me. The United States is described in Revelation, Chapter 18, verses 1-10? The United States = Babylon the Great. Have you considered this possibility?

Yes, thank you for your prayers! …on my mind is my recent visit to a traditional church in town with an aging congregation. I used to attend it but switched to a foursquare church about 5 years ago. I thought it would be interesting to see some of the people I had not seen for a while. The sermon by the rector seemed out of touch with current events. She had a general message of hope and not giving into fear. She mentioned that we must use our creativity which God has given us. She might pass out crayons at some of the meetings so we could practice our creativity! General, good positive thoughts but it seemed out of touch with reality and the supernatural warfare that we are facing! Yes, I agree, we are in a supernatural battle! I am thinking that at some point some of these good but naive people are going to be put into a state of shock when things are likely to escalate even further. They seem so unprepared.

“O My people! Their opressors are children, and women rule over them. O My people! Those who lead guide you lead you astray, and confuse the direction of yoUr paths.” (Is. 3:12)
According to God’s Word, the only time women ruled over the men, was when men listened to women and did what the women wanted instead of what God wanted.
“Then God said to Adam, ‘Because yoU listened to the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree about which I commanded you, saying you shall not eat from it…” Out of the Garden! (Gen. 3:17)
“Abram’s wife took Hagar her Egyptian maid and gave her to her husband Abram as his wife. And he went into Hagar and she conceived; and when she saw that she had conceived, her mistress was despised in her sight. And Sarai said to Abram, ‘May the wrong done to me [because of MY desire] be upon you…May the LORD judge between you and me.” (Gen. 16:4-5)
“Rebekah said to her son Jacob,’…Now therefore listen to me as I command you. Go now to the flock and bring me two choice kids…”
“And Jacob answered his mother , Rebekah, ‘Behold, Esau my brother is a hairy man and I am a smooth man. Perhaps my father will feel me and I shall be a deceiver in his sight; and I shall bring a curse upon myself, a curse and not a blessing.’ But his mother said to him, ‘Your curse be upon me, my son; only obey my voice, and go, get them for me.'” (Gen 27:6-13)
Not one of these three instances in the first 27 chapters of Genesis worked out well for the female when the male listen to her. Later when we see women in charge of Israel it is during periods of judgment on the nation. Two women were godly, Deborah and Huldah, and two women were wicked, Athaliah and Jezebeel.
Paul said in the NT that he does allow a woman to teach and have authority over a man because Eve was deceived, but in the same passage he says Adam wasn’t. Did Paul tell the truth? (2 Tim. 2:14). Well, Sarai and Rebekah were also deceived, he just didn’t mention them!
Female leadership will not be a positive influence. It is evidence of God’s judgment on the U.S. No preacher will touch this subject. All the women would leave the church and take their families and many of their husbands with them. No more tithes!
What we need is more men who will do what God says instead of bowing down to the feminine propaganda espoused by the media of today. More men who will say, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!”

      • Felipe Jones

This is such an important point brother, I can’t emphasize it enough. Good for you for making it.

        • watchmannonthewall

Thank you. I was waiting to see if others would comment as there is more to this subject.

Paul informs us in Romans 7:14 that the Law (Torah) is spiritual; so how do these three examples from Genesis relate to us those of us who have come into a relationship with Jesus, spiritually?

In our relationship with Messiah, we are the woman, we are the ones who want to tell the Husband how He should do things and are therefore the ones who are deceived.

We are referred to as His Bride, His “Helpmate”, the one who is called alongside Him to further His ministry, “bone of His bone and flesh of His flesh”.

Eve was taken from Adam’s side but we are taken from the side of Messiah and are His wife. When the solider shoved the spear through His side, John says blood and water, symbols of a birth, flowed out. Jesus is the second Adam.

When we come into a proper relationship with our Husband, we will have no problem with honoring His Word by submitting to His headship instead of being deceived by our own thoughts and ideas, and scheming, manipulating, to get a desired outcome. His ways are higher than ours. The heart is deceitful above all things and desprately wicked, this is the way we were before meeting Jesus and His Father!

These women in Scripture are, spiritually, examples of us all, men and women. When the restoration of all things occurrs at Messiah’s return, we will all understand the importance of operating under the proper authority God has placed over us, even as it is in heaven!

you can try to mangle your religion into a reason for not choosing a female leader, but intelligence suggests doing otherwise.

        • watchmannonthewall

Not my “religion”. The scripture is essentially the same that written by the end of the 5th century BC as eveidence by the content and research regarding the Dead Sea scrolls. Stating facts should not be considered as “mangling” for one who is rational and thoughtful. On the other hand…

That scripture states God was going to disperse the Jews “double” for their rebellion, 2,000 years for their rebellion from the time of Solomon to Mesiah, 1,000 years, and then regather them and make them a nation in “one day”, the day the UN voted to recognize them as a nation, and that all the nations of the earth will be arrayed against them at the return of Jesus Christ is plainly seen in Scripture.
People can choose to believe it is a fairy tale if they wish. God gave each person a free will to choose or reject Him and His ways. The historical facts prove an omniscient God exists, if one is objective, rational, and thoughtful.

  • watchmannonthewall

MIchael, great point you made in stating the problem is in the heart. God told Cain, due to envy of his brother, “Sin lies at the door [of your heart]. But you must master it!” God said just prior to the Flood, “”The heart of man was only evil continually.” (Gen 6:5) “And Esau said to himself [in his heart], ‘The days of mouring for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob.” (Gen. 27:41)

Moses told the children of Israel they were to circumcise the foreskin of their hearts (Deut. 10:16), and later he said, “”Yet to this day, God has not given you a heart to know, nor eyes to see, nor ears to hear.” (Deut. 29:4)

By now we should understand that the heart is the problem with man but just in case we missed it, God explains this further by comparing every king of Judah to the “heart” of His servant David. We finally get the prophesy through Jeremiah that God will give us a “new” heart where He will write His law on it. (Jer. 31:31-34) Solomon tells us we are to “guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life.” (Prv. 4:23) Jeremiah states, “The heart is deceitful above all things,” then asks, “who can know it?” (Jer. 17:9)

Yeshua told us the heart is the core of our sin problem: “For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adultries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. [Many of these you mentioned in your article!] These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.” (Mt 15:19-20) He said, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks,” (Mt. 12:34) It is easy to tell the heart of the person one is listening to once we have learned this truth! He also told us a pure heart is what God desires: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. ” (Mt. 5:8)

Jesus truely tells us the heart is the issue God is most concerned with in our lives. The condition of our heart is revealed in our speech and behavior. We ALL need a new heart. Events of today prove this! We need to pray to the Father and ask Him to give us the heart He desires for us so we can honor Him by the way we live!

The biggest problem is iniquity: this was prophesied. So was folks becoming more lustful and narcissistic.

This is going to piss off a lot of SJW’s: homosexuality is directly connected to narcissism. No one is “born that way”; it’s a result of one’s child development environment. This Mayor is not a victim of Christianity: he needs to get professional help and possibly medication. What he did was shameful; especially to his city and office.

And Mike, you are absolutely correct: this election won’t solve the problems: it’s making things worse. Many times I’ve denied my support for any candidate. I’m also not supporting the new guy in the race for the Constitutionalists. My concern is the problems and additional hardships that will come on my family from any and all of these jokers. And none of the official candidate representatives or their supporters will address my concerns! They immediately slot me with their hated opposition!!

I pray that the Lord will fight this battle on behalf of the Saints. Or, if it be His will, I be given the means and direction to mount an effective defense.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Rom 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
        Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Rom 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Rom 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
        Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

I just retired as a manager of municipal govt. (a city of 50,000 people) and I can tell you it was a cesspool. Bribes, kickbacks in the thousands, trips to Jamaica, trips to cities with cash in hand, every single day all my peers did was look for ways of getting more of what they called “love.” The rest of the world called it GRAFT. If this is any indication of corruption in local govt, I cannot even imagine what it is like on a state or federal level. Makes me shudder just to think of it. WE HAVE GONE DOWN THE PATH OF COUNTRIES THAT DIE AND WE ARE DYING.

No matter how good you think your religion is human nature will always be corrupt and evil. Why assume it will not be? Just assume people are the worst. We need the FBI to enforce the laws!

      • ali

True that our nature is such that we are prone to commit illicit acts and majority of us need laws and law enforcing agencies to keep us in check. But that does not mean that there are no God fearing people who are genuinely good at heart. As the quote says there are two kind of people in the world, those who run after their desires(majority including me) and those who practice self control(minority).

        • df NJ

I don’t think it is up to me to judge if the God fearing people are more or less moral or evil than non-believers. But regardless of how you constantly judge other people, human nature has been pretty constant in the last 6000 years. When you have 30 years of anti-government sentiment in our politics it has implications. No government equals anarchy. If you want to get rid of corruption in government you have to have investigations and law enforcement. That means you have to spend money on FBI agents doing the work. But if year after year you cut government budgets or only spend money on the military then this is what we get. It has nothing to do with religion. As I’ve said many times there’s a reason why most of the cameras in the casino are pointed at the money changes. It’s not that people are possessed by Satan. It’s just that human nature to justify acts of evil when given the opportunity. People will rationalize anything and maintain they are a “good” person. That’s why the cameras exist in the casino in the first place.

          • ali

Lets just say there are truly good hearted people wheter believer’s or non believers. I agree that we cannot judge anyone based on his faith or whatever he believes in. Also no doubt that we need well funded non political law enforcement agencies to end the corruption that is creeping in our system but my point is just that there do exist really good people religious or non religious who are not corrupt and dont cheat others. Good honest people. Some time ago a taxi driver returned Iphone of my brother who left it in his taxi. Now he could have easily kept it with him without any fear of legal consequences but yet he was honest enough to return it. Now people like him are the one with values and self control over their desires. There are some values which are common to us as good humans irrespective of cast creed or faith. I believe humanity is the biggest religion. And this is some thing which we need to preach in this time and era of greed and violence.

I read that many believe the constitution will save USA but things have gone past that. The US constitution only works and was only designed for a righteous nation.
while it is rioting in rapine and insolence, this country will be the most miserable habitation in the Nvorld; because we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, • would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
• df NJ

I’m not sure the founders of our Constitution were devoid of human nature. On the contrary, the founders assumed the worst in human nature would be the normal. It’s not a question of hoping human nature to change. It’s not a question of hoping people will finally accept Jesus as their Lord. It’s really a question about embracing government’s role in enforcing laws against government corruption. I remember in the 70’s and 80’s local, state, and federal government officials going to jail all the time. When was the last time you heard of a politician being arrested? When anarchy rules corruption is rampant.

      • watchmannonthewall

  • df NJ

We need to double the size of the FBI so 50% can work on terrorism and the other 50% can work on government corruption. We have no newspapers anymore to stop corruption. If people acted like Christ taught in the Scriptures, it would be a different story. Unfortunately you are right, neither of our nations are “Christian”, in spite of what they may have been in the past (I’m not saying they were in the past either). There is always a remnant of God’s people, though it may be pretty small at times.

        ——-
Rom_11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

The Founders did not realize they created a Frankenstein monster when they created the federal court system. My late father told me 5 decades ago liberal federal judges are the greatest threat to our civil liberties. Checks and balances don’t apply to liberal judicial thugs who receive life time appointments…they rule by decree. Just to start removing voluntary prayer, bible study, the Ten Commandments from public schools, etc. violating the free exercise of religion in the constitution, Roe v. Wade, the list of unconstitutional rulings is endless. Liberal federal judges long ago blotted out the tenth amendment. Recently the release of John Hinckley, Jr. back into society by a Reagan hating liberal federal judge ends the debate. America will disappear like the great empires of antiquity for the same reasons, falling for the lie in Eden, that we are gods and denying the true God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

Why don’t you check out the red states where Republicans run the court systems and you’ll find the same thuggery. Only they hide behind religion while stealing you blind and ignoring the Constitution at the same time.

there will be prayer in schools as long as their are algebra tests.
and religious indoctrination is the responsibility of parents, not the State

and you do realize that their are prayer groups in schools?
oh, but you can’t be forced to attend, guess that is your problem

  • Washington Lewis

The last two sentences of paragraph one hit the nail on the head. Trump’s slogan “Make America Great Again” is bogus. The illegal immigrants coming into the country is not the problem. The problem is the heart condition of the Americans

    • WeRThrough

Do you think our hearts started out this way? Many negative events and observations can turn one’s heart cold. Wake up and ask yourself if your heart is cold for a reason. I bet you will find a few..

      • df NJ

Many spiritual teachings outside of Christianity teach we are responsible for our own reality. Meaning who we are as a person, our character, determines the lens of perception we have about our reality. Many Eastern religions take the point of view that you only hate and criticize in other people what you do not like about your own character. It’s only when you “clean” your own “mirror” will you see and treat other people with love and respect. There’s a really funny Zen Buddhist parable that I really like. It teaches us not to idolize our Bible because then we are missing the point of the teachings:

One day two monks were in a garden arguing subjectivity versus objectivity. The Zen master hearing them arguing approached the two students. The Zen master asked, “that rock over there, does that exist inside your head or outside your head?”. One of the monks looked up at the Zen master and replied, “Well, our religious bible tells us that all truth is subjective so that rock only exists inside my head.” At which point the Zen master replies, “Then it must be pretty heavy all day walking around with that rock in your head!”

        • WeRThrough

Cute story, but unfortunately most people don’t or would not be willing to grasp the concept of which you speak. Living in a unicorn and rainbow state of mind is downright dangerous. You can choose to ignore what is going on around you for only so long before you end up being a victim. If you don’t have observations good, bad, or both in your head from experience, you will eventually lose that head to someone who isn’t so Zen like…. Nice try though!

          • df NJ

I can only show you the door. There’s a really cool expression in eastern religion, “If you see the Buddha on the road kill him.” That’s really cool one to grasp. So I really wasn’t trying to do anything.

However, If danger is all that you see then danger is all that you will ever experience in your life. I think you may be missing the point of the teaching. How will you ever know you’ve been blessed if all you ever see is everything that is curses?

          • WeRThrough

I get the point. MY point is that not many others do. THAT is the danger I see and my eyes do not fail me.

          • df NJ

I’m not saying there is not danger. What I am saying is that any given moment of time, there is an equal amount of evidence supporting everything is good, perfect, and blessed by God as there is to the contrary. Besides, most people hurt themselves more than they get hurt by other people.

          • WeRThrough

“most people hurt themselves more than they get hurt by other people.” I believe just the opposite, sorry. I would say many more are hurt by others than by themselves.

          • df NJ

There’s probably equal evidence for both. It depends on how you look at it. Alcohol is a really bad drug and responsible for a lot of deaths. But poverty is also responsible for a lot of deaths which is most likely caused the obscene greed of the few people in power.

          • WeRThrough

Aren’t you forgetting a few things like drugs, rape, murder, genocide, theft, bullying, I could go on, AND ON…. I get the “obscene greed” thing for sure, not much else of what you say though. I think your eyes are close to being shut..

  • df NJ

In the USA, we have a death every 13 seconds and a birth every 7 seconds. I say we are doing pretty good. That’s a lot of copulation.

In terms of morality, I don’t think anything has changed in the last 100 years. You just hear about the most craziest stuff because of the media nowadays. It’s not like they did not have murders in the 1930s.

  • horse777res

I totally agree with you Michael! If we could fix our moral problem and turn back to GOD then our political problem would be solved. But unfortunately I believe as a country, it is now too late. At this point in time it doesn’t make any difference who is in the White House. This country has abandoned GOD. “The BIBLE says “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all of the nations that forget GOD. Psalm 9:17”

    • JC Teecher

Yes sirriee, the writing is on the wall and in the Book.

A nation and society that removes God, and it’s moral compass, has it replaced with evil and corruption.
Men and women have become lovers of themselves and have a liberal proselytizing set of governments to support them. Anything goes, as long as you pay the piper/gov/taxman, …except Christianity.

The goal of a liberal mindset is based on evil doings, and the role of Christianity is to bring conviction upon all sins, so the liberal mind doesn’t want to be reminded of their evil…..so they continually strive to squelch it out.

      • df NJ

I think people are self-serving and mostly unaware of their own morality. So in some ways, they are innocent of their own evil. I often wonder if it possibly a sin to judge other people for their actions without fully understanding what it means to walk in their shoes. I would like to think that most people would make an effort to save a baby from imminent death. So in my mind, most people are inherently “good” by nature.

      • Gay Veteran

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

  • df NJ

I think we need to recognize and appreciate human nature if we are ever going to make this a better country.

Death and taxes are the only constant in the universe. Ex Deus Machina or supernatural intervention is purely a subjective judgment made by man.

      • NorthernBud

        Death has been defeated.
        ——-
1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

No worries about taxes, just filthy lucre. They’ll pay back every penny with interest someday.
        ——-
Luk 20:21 And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
Luk 20:22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?
Luk 20:23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?
Luk 20:24 Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar’s.
Luk 20:25 And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar’s, and unto God the things which be God’s.

Truth is objective. Otherwise it ceases to be Truth, and becomes subjective opinion. Truth can be applied to almost any concept, thereby narrowing down the “right” answers. You seem fairly intelligent, now if you’ll be honest with yourself and read the Word of God, you’ll see what I mean.

      • sistersoldier

[There is no purely subjective, or purely objective knowledge. We find both the me and the not-me in the same phenomenon, by the same light, and with equal certainty. Based on your “synthetic philosophy” the reality of the object is based on your unbelieving “ideal intuition”. This same intuition when applied by a person of faith then does not deal with an “abstraction” but rather with a real, objective being, who is none other than God our Creator.]

The people in power love the King James version of the Bible. It keeps people so completely occupied with the authority of the Bible, where their soul is going to go when they die, and their own salvation that they do not have any time to focus their minds on any of the corruptions of government. I bet most people in power are areligous in private.

    • df NJ

I think it’s actually the other way around. It’s not the case that people have no respect for leaders but leaders have no respect for followers. Google “metamorphic effect of power”. Because of the metamorphic effect of power our leaders do not have a shred of respect for the people they govern hence the corruption.

  • df NJ

Is the answer to all our problems that everyone has to bend their knees and becomes a submissive servant of the Lord. Or is the answer to our problems we the people have to rise up in strength and unity and demand that our leaders behave morally.

This is not surprising… and hasn’t been for quite some time. This happens when mankind takes a God ordained entity, such as government, and then takes God out of it’s infrastructure. Corruption occurs almost instantaneously. You are correct in saying that the problem is with the heart of mankind, which is exceedingly deceitful.

Many will try to enter from the wide pathway. Doesn’t work that way, fortunately. I say fortunately because if it did, we would end up with the same as we have now, and then question what was the point.

        • watchmannonthewall

That is a very astute observaion. Fortunately or unfortunately, depending on where one is in relationship with God, God intends to let all of mankind clearly choose to be either a wheat or a tare. There will be no middle ground by the time we get through all of what is coming. The righteous will shine like the sun and the wicked will be black.
God’s intent is to get His people to hate sin and corruption the same way He does and always choose against it. If we had done so in the beginning, we wouldn’t have to learn this lesson the hard way. “Hear, O Israel; the LORD thy God.”

The practice of sinful behavior blinds one to the reality of their spiritual state… If that pattern of behavior continues you have nothing more than a society that will have lost any semblance of humility, and decency..

But scripture points out that this was going to be the main reason for the emergence of the one called the beast…. Being defined by sin hardens one heart, and make that individual irrational… Which is why the majority of the population will revere the beast, or man of sin… This false god will reflect the hedonistic state that mankind will have succumbed to…

Sadly, there is not room for repentance in one’s heart if that person is taking pride in exercising their so called freedom… While this may seem to be the case, an individual is nothing more than a slave to the very one who tempted Adam, and Eve in the Garden… A temptation that our first parents gave in to…

Sin is also very destruction, and with the type of weapons we have, it is a sure bet that another world war is not too far off…

God is needed to rule over, and HE will return to bring forth the righteousness that defines HIM in every way.. That is mankind’s only hope frankly… We have proven throughout history we cannot govern ourselves without the guidance, and leadership of our Savior, and King…

    Thanks for the informative article..

If the author looked up to mayors, or any other politician, he didn’t have the moral principles to realize that they craved a “job” in which they got paid with stolen money.

“Most people prefer to believe that their leaders are just and fair, even in the face of evidence to the contrary, because once a citizen acknowledges that the government under which he lives is lying and corrupt, the citizen has to choose what he or she will do about it. To take action in the face of corrupt government entails risks of harm to life and loved ones. To choose to do nothing is to surrender one’s self-image of standing for principles. Most people do not have the courage to face that choice. Hence, most propaganda is not designed to fool the critical thinker but only to give moral cowards an excuse not to think at all.” ~ Michael Rivero

One overriding question: WHY do “We, the People,” continue to allow this kind of thing? Fear. Fear and Laziness. “If I say something, they’ll harass me.” Yes, people stay quiet because their comfort is more important than justice. Our recent generations have been spoon fed everything and acquiesce to supposed “authority figures” without so much as questioning WHO gave these people power and TO WHAT END is that power to be used. No one stands up and demands answers in city council meetings simply because doing so puts a face to dissent and makes themselves a target for corrupt cops to attack at will with absolute impunity!
