Most people simply do not understand that we really are moving into a long-term economic emergency.  So much of the economic optimism that fueled rallies in the financial markets throughout 2022 was based on a belief that the COVID pandemic would soon be brought to an end.  Well, that obviously has not happened.  After everything that has been done, the COVID pandemic in the United States is now worse than ever.  In fact, on Wednesday there were 465,470 newly confirmed cases in the United States alone.  That shattered the old daily record by more than 100,000.  The Omicron variant is spreading like wildfire, and this is going to cause mass panic during the early stages of 2022. We live at a time when global food supplies are getting tighter and tighter and global food prices just keep going higher and higher.  Bizarre weather patterns and widespread natural disasters have been playing havoc with food production all over the planet, and the COVID pandemic has thrown worldwide supply chains into a state of complete and utter chaos.  As a result, the world is “currently battling the worst hunger crisis this century”, and it is expected to get even worse in 2022.  Of course this is just the beginning.  For a very long time, I have been warning that global trends indicate that we are heading toward a horrifying global famine, and that is just one of the reasons why I have been relentlessly encouraging my readers to get prepared while they still can. Americans have more money in their pockets than they ever have before.  That sounds like really great news, but it isn’t, because the cost of living is rising much faster than our incomes are.  In addition, much of the “new wealth” that has been created over the past couple of years has ended up in the hands of the very wealthy, and this has caused the gap between the rich and the poor to grow even wider.  As for the middle class, it is being systematically hollowed out by “Bidenflation”, and that process is only going to accelerate during the early stages of 2022. Where did all the workers go?  That is a great mystery that continues to be unsolved.  All over America, businesses are literally hiring anyone with a pulse and there are “help wanted” signs all over the place.  But the number of people that are actually working is still close to four million below the pre-pandemic peak.  What happened to all of those extra workers?  They certainly aren’t on unemployment, because claims for unemployment benefits are the lowest that we have seen “in decades”.  So where are they?  It is almost as if millions upon millions of people have disappeared from the system completely over the past couple of years. It is often said that history repeats itself, but usually it doesn’t happen quite so quickly.  If you are getting a sinking feeling because current events bear such a close resemblance to early 2020, you are definitely not alone.  All over the globe, the Omicron variant is causing a wave of tremendous fear that is unlike anything that we have seen since the first half of last year.  And based on the response so far, it appears that we haven’t learned much since then.  We are witnessing so many of the exact same patterns play out, and that could have very important implications for the year ahead of us.  Interestingly, many on social media are now reminding us that 2022 is pronounced “2020 too”, and that is certainly quite a depressing thought. All of the shortages were supposed to be gone by now.  During the first half of 2021, the blind optimists were assuring us that by the end of the year the pandemic would be over, the spike in inflation would have proven to be “transitory”, the global supply chain crisis would be resolved, and the U.S. economy would be booming.  Of course the truth is that none of those things happened.  In fact, overall conditions are even worse than they were six months ago.  Now we are heading into 2022, and even the optimists are finding it difficult to say anything positive about the coming year. Enjoy the times that you are able to spend with family and friends now, because things are starting to get really crazy out there.  The official beginning of winter is upon us, and just in time there is a frightening new COVID variant that is scaring the living daylights out of politicians all over the planet.  Of course those deeply frightened politicians are going to respond to this new threat just like they have responded to every other chapter of this crisis so far.  They are going to spend even more money, they are going to relentlessly promote the injections that the big pharmaceutical companies are pushing, and they are going to impose more absurd authoritarian measures.  Needless to say, that means that this is going to be a really bad winter for the entire globe. It seems like it was just yesterday that we were told that a new variant called “Omicron” had been discovered in southern Africa.  Now it is being reported that Omicron is suddenly spreading like wildfire all over North America and Europe, and we are being told that a very “dark winter” is ahead of us.  Of course whenever case numbers start rising again, the Biden administration feels as though it must do something.  So on Tuesday, Joe Biden is going to deliver another “major address” to the nation.  Unfortunately, many are anticipating that he may introduce more destructive restrictions which could significantly damage the U.S. economy as we head into 2022.
