The U.S. Has Lost 195,000 Good Paying Energy Industry Jobs

Share on FacebookTweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Google+Share on LinkedInShare on StumbleUponEmail this to someone

Layoffs - Public DomainNot all jobs are created equal.  There is a world of difference between a $100,000 a year energy industry job and a $10 an hour job running a cash register at Wal-Mart.  You can comfortably support a middle class family on $100,000 a year, but there is no way in the world that you can run a middle class household on a part-time job that pays just $10 an hour.  The quality of our jobs matters, and if current long-term trends continue unabated, eventually we are not going to have much of a middle class left.  At this point the middle class has already become a minority in America, and according to the Social Security Administration 51 percent of all American workers make less than $30,000 a year right now.  We have a desperate need for more higher paying jobs, and that is why what is happening in the energy industry is so deeply alarming.

Just today we got some more disturbing news.  According to Challenger, Gray & Christmas, the U.S. has lost 195,000 good paying energy jobs since the middle of 2014…

Cheap oil has fueled a massive wave of job cuts that may not be over yet.

Since oil prices began to fall in mid-2014, cheap crude has been blamed for 195,000 job cuts in the U.S., according to a report published on Thursday by outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas.

It’s an enormous toll that is especially painful because these tend to be well-paying jobs. The average pay in the oil and gas industry is 84% higher than the national average, according to Goldman Sachs.

Those are good paying jobs that are not easy to replace, and unfortunately the jobs losses appear to be accelerating.  In their new report, Challenger, Gray & Christmas went on to say that 95,000 of those job cuts have come in 2016, and 17,725 of them were in July alone.

We also got some other bad news for the U.S. economy on Thursday.

Factory orders are down again, and at this point U.S. factory orders have now been down on a year over year basis for 20 months in a row.  That is the longest streak in all of U.S. history.

Needless to say, we have never seen such a thing happen outside of a recession.

In addition, it is being reported that U.S. banks have been tightening lending standards for four quarters in a row.

Once again, this is something that has never happened outside of a recession.

On top of all that, tax receipts continue to plummet.  This is a very bad sign for the economy, because falling tax receipts are usually a sign that we are headed into a recession.  The following comes from Zero Hedge

July “Withheld” receipts – those tax and withholding payments that come straight from wage earner pay stubs – are down 1.0% year over year.

This data series can be choppy, and looking at the three month trailing average yields a 3.1%.  That’s a touch slower than the 2016 YTD comp of 3.3%, and tells us to not expect too much from Friday’s number.

Also worth noting: YTD non-withheld tax receipts (such as those that come from “Gig economy” workers) are down 6.5%, and July’s comp is 15% lower than a year ago.

Last, corporate tax receipts are down 11% YTD, and if the current pace of these payments holds it will be the first negative comp since 2011. Bottom line: if the tax man isn’t as busy, can the U.S. economy really be expanding?

Are you starting to see a pattern here?

And let’s review what else we have learned over the past couple of weeks…

-U.S. GDP growth came in at an extremely disappointing 1.2 percent for the second quarter of 2016, and the first quarter was revised down to 0.8 percent.

-The rate of homeownership in the United States has fallen to the lowest level ever.

-The Wall Street Journal says that this is the weakest “economic recovery” since 1949.

-Barack Obama is on track to be the only president in U.S. history to never have a single year of 3 percent GDP growth.

Meanwhile, things continue to get worse around the rest of the planet as well.  For example, the economic depression in Brazil continues to deepen and it is being reported that the Brazilian economy has now been shrinking for five quarters in a row

Brazil’s economy, the world’s ninth largest, contracted by 0.3 percent in the first quarter, marking the fifth straight quarter it shrank. Last year, Brazil’s gross domestic product fell to its lowest level since 2009.

Inflation has also shot higher recently, rising 9 percent in 2015, from 6.3 percent in 2014, according to data from the World Bank. Energy as a percentage of exports, meanwhile, fell to 7 percent in 2015, from 9 percent in the previous year.

And of course Brazil is hosting the Olympics this summer, and that is turning out to be a major debacle.  Many of the international athletes will actually be rowing, sailing and swimming in open waters that are highly contaminated by raw sewage, and Brazilian police have been welcoming tourists to Rio with a big sign that says “Welcome To Hell“.  And let us not forget that right next door in Venezuela the economic collapse has gotten so bad that people are killing and eating zoo animals.

As the global economy continues to deteriorate, what should we do?

Legendary investor Bill Gross shared some of his thoughts on the matter in his latest Investment Outlook

“Negative returns and principal losses in many asset categories are increasingly possible unless nominal growth rates reach acceptable levels,” Gross said in his latest Investment Outlook note published Wednesday.

“I don’t like bonds; I don’t like most stocks; I don’t like private equity. Real assets such as land, gold, and tangible plant and equipment at a discount are favored asset categories.”

I tend to agree with Gross.  Bonds are in a tremendous bubble right now, and the stock market bubble has grown to ridiculous proportions.  In the end, the only wealth that you are going to be able to fully rely on is wealth that you can physically have in your possession.

As you have seen in this article, signs of economic decline are all around us.

And yet, many people out there are still convinced that good times are right around the corner.

What is it going to take to convince them that they are wrong?

  • Malcolm Reynolds

Mike, I appreciate your articles and all the hard work that goes into them.

If people can not see the decline that is happening around them by now, I don’t think they ever will.

    • kfilly

I agree. Most people live with blinders on and cannot see the forest through the trees.

      • HillBilly

Or, they are wrestling daily with a financial hand to mouth existence and are too busy to look up.
Most people I know are aware of what is going on and they’ve adjusted accordingly.
        God help us all.

        • michelle Mc clark

GOD AND GARY JOHNSON,LETS LEAVE THOSE OTHER PEOPLE SCRATCHING THIER HEADS IN NOVEMBER . THEYVE CHEATED US ALL TO LONG

      • SnohtBlossom

I don’t see the decline. I’ve been on a new job for a month & things look about the same here in general.

        • anonymous

I see empty stores and restaurants everywhere. In fact I drove by one restaurant and the staff were just waiting outside the front of the business. There is fierce competition and it’s only going to get worse. What are all the new college graduates going to do? Work in the service sector? What do we even produce anymore?

          • SnohtBlossom

On another note about the energy industry, I almost took a job in selling power in currently deregulated markets. The monopolies are finally getting their competition.

          • Malcolm Reynolds

There’s no such thing as a deregulated market.
Translated from socialist imbecile to English, “deregulated” = the govt doesn’t outright own it.

          • SnohtBlossom

It means the customer can choose between energy suppliers.

          • alan

Our huge Beals store just closed in our town. Now the rumor is K-mart will close very soon. My guess is everyone here will become Uber drivers.

          • anonymous

LOL. I know right. What are taxi cab drivers supposed to do now? How do they compete with Uber? My state is trying to create laws that ban Uber, Hawaii is a tourism state so there are a lot of taxi cabs.

          • SnohtBlossom

I see a new restaurant nearby.
I see pockets of emptyish stores/strip malls, but they”ve been like that a while and aren’t very close to me.

          • michelle Mc clark

Nothing thanks to Dems. And Rep. VOTE GARY JOHNSON FOR CHANGE !!!!

        • kfilly

Oh, you are doing fine. Oh, your neighborhood is doing fine. I am glad to hear that. However, most of the country is not doing fine. That is a fact.

        • Malcolm Reynolds

Oh, well because you have a new job. Lmao! moron.
Why are you here then exactly?

          • SnohtBlossom

I’m here because I find the guys so enticing that I jack off to them.

          • Malcolm Reynolds

I am sorry. I am not making excuses but I am a mess mentally with the new meds my doctor put me on.

            I apologize.

Do what my wife does and pay me no attention.

P.S. I do think Hillary will be our next president.

          • michelle Mc clark

Then there will be less jobs, she’s already said she will close down all mining and now she’s budding up with the cracking industry who she also said she would shut down VOTE JOHNSON AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK IF HILLARY GETS IN THATS THE END OF US

          • SnohtBlossom

            Because you make me hot

          • Malcolm Reynolds

I’m rubbing my nipples right now thinking about how hot I make you.

        • bc

YEah…I went in McDonald;s this morning…looked & smelled the same as always !

        • none

Snothblossm, what happened to the job you had last month?

          • SnohtBlossom

            I still have it 🙂

        • michelle Mc clark

Good for u hope it continues but take a look around

      • michelle Mc clark

Yep, VOTE GARY JOHNSON HE’S THE ONLY ONE WHOS REAL

        • kfilly

Unfortunately, Gary Johnson supports a lot of the policies that are destroyingvthis country. He suppirts the TPP (destruction of economy), illegal immigration (suppressing US wages, security threat, destruction of way of life), and his VP pick is a Goldman Sachs executive who helped pass an illegal gun control measure in an east coast state (Massachusetts?). Gary Johnson is just another wolf in sheep’s clothing.

          • michelle Mc clark

He was great as Governor of NM,got rid of a lot of waste, he’s like a real person

          • kfilly

However, he is in support of major things the establishment wants to do to ENSLAVE you! The TPP is NAFTA on steroids. That is a kiss what is left of your economy good bye and become a ward of the state type of trafe agreement. He is also in favor of illegal immigration. I guess you do not want the country to have an identity anymore, want people overwhelming the welfare system (Cloward-Piven), do not care about security, and want to see American wages driven down as these people would work for nothing. His VP running mate has ties to Goldman Sachs. His VP helped ramrod illegal gun control. Do you still think Gary Johnson is a good choice for America? I shake my head in disgust. People in this country have a major case of Stockholm Syndrome. I perfer dangerous liberty to peaceful servitude.

    • Truegrit

And they will stupidly vote for Hillary

      • SnohtBlossom

Hillary.. Our Glorious New President! 😀

      • RagingVoiceOfReason

Trust me, you do not want to come to Canada. Not with the deteriorating economy and the laughable joke of a government we have now.

    • Malcolm Reynolds

LMAO! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Notice the imitators private post history and <100 comments….

People are being set up for the mother of all depressions to the point that few will survive and that’s the way Soros wants it. The fewer people left as survivors the easier for him to stay in control.

Why do you think Trump will do anything good? What do you think he will do? Genuine question, I’m from the UK so all I have seen of Trump is that he seems to not have a clue about anything to do with government, policy, economy, international relations etc, and says a lot of very silly things! Do you think he has some kind of plan, or is just so ridiculous that he will throw a spanner in the works and manage to confound the elite by accident?

      • Bill

He is the most effective thorn in the side of the elite. His real plan—only time will tell…

        • SnohtBlossom

Are you kidding? He would favor the rich (himself included) in his policies!

          • Randy

It’s totally astounding how the hillbillies here think that Trump will favor them. Hillary is the only hope for a free and fair America. The tears on the rednecks’ faces when Hillary wins is gonna be glorious. I hope there will be a LGBT pride events all over America just to shove it into their bigoted faces!!!!111

          • Malcolm Reynolds

It’s totally astounding how the mouth breather communists think that Hillary will favor them. Progressivism is oligarchy and eugenics, plain and simple. The rest of it is Bullshyte pandering to make you imbeciles sell yourselves into slavery.

          • Jerry C

            Stupid is as stupid does.

          • Malcolm Reynolds

Because somehow or other, in your completely constructed alternate reality, the thoroughly funded by Wall Street Hillary Clinton doesn’t.

      • alan

I feel this mess is so big that Trump will be buried alive in this mess.
Once he starts to cut the fat government parasites the patient will go into convolutions.
The longer this festers the more the likely hood it will turn violent.

        • SnohtBlossom

          lol.. Trump won’t be elected.
          Hillary 2016! 😀

      • ALWAYSTOMORROW

For one thing he will keep Hillary, the most corrupt politician in the world out of the White House.

      • Bill G Wilminton NC

Mr Jeopardy The news you watch is the same NWO Globalist Elite controlled main stream media as the USA go to the internet for the TRUTH….

Trump speaks at Rallys which are packed to the rafters every place he speaks (bet ya dont hear that in UK) He has a PLATFORM ( bet ya havent heard that in the UK ) . A simple snippet version of his platform; 1) Building a Wall along Mex border, 2) illegal aliens are going home, 3) no more muslim immigrants 4) renegotiating all trade agreements ( nafta, gatt, cafta ) to make them fair to the USA. 5) stopping passage of the most dangerous of all trade agreements The TPP. 6) Rescinding Agenda 21 7) Rescinding Common Core teaching in schools 7) Protecting the 2nd amendment ( right to bear arms ) 8) Protecting 1st( freespeech) and 10th amendments 9) Obamacare will be dismantled 10) The corrupt medical and pharmaceutical system will be revamped to cause immediate drop in price by eliminating the collusion between government, lobbyists, and insurance companys creating the largest scam on the american public ever TRILLIONS and yielding the highest medical prices in the world. 11) eliminating all waste, and duplication of government jobs coordinated with the closing of Dept of Energy, Education and EPA……Trump has a PLATFORM where is Hillarys

        • JeopardyLeyton

Yes, we do see all the support he has and yes I have heard all of his policy suggestions. I also know that the mainstream media is extremely biased and will lie and twist things. But I have seen videos of Trump speaking and he is not a good person, you can’t trust him to do any of those things. He lies all the time, even about things that were caught on camera just a few days before! He is genuinely not right in the head.

Its interesting that you agree that the media can’t be trusted, yet you still think that immigrants and Muslims are a big problem for your country- that is all part of the same globalist agenda – make the people afraid, and use their fear as an excuse to erode their liberties, and as an excuse to wage perpetual ‘war on terror’ which will involve killing many innocent people just so they can profit. The US arms ISIS, the West have been instrumental in creating terrorism and they profit from it. Always think about who benefits! Follow the money!

I agree that Hillary is also part of the whole neoliberal global agenda that wants the planet turned into a giant corporatocracy where humans are just resources made to work and work to produce profits for a tiny cabal of filthy rich sociopaths. But Trump is part of that too, don’t let him fool you, he only has his own interests at heart and he has proven that time and again throughout his life – he will just do whatever benefits him, not the country, and you can bet there will be tons of corporate lobbyists throwing endless tempting bribes at him if he becomes president.

Bernie Sanders was your best chance for a different way. But they will never let someone who actually values people above profit gain any power in your country or mine. Not until the people actually turn up in their millions outside the houses of power.

Ultimately though we, people of US and people of Europe, want the same thing – to be represented by our governments, not ruled by them and not viewed in terms of financial profit and loss.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            Mr Jeopardy,

Mr.Trump has people that have worked for/with him for decades and they speak well of him, he has raised a family and his children love/adore him and speak so well of him it is spectacular. These children do not smoke, drink or carouse as their father was/is their example. These children are not arrogant and rude like the typical children of today let alone the children of a billionaire. Fruit does not fall far from the tree !

As for lying all the time and not being right in the head ha ha lol that is the typical NWO Globalist Elites word speak about Trump….and not true, but sometimes I wish that I could shut him up sometimes he does not know when to shut it off but that is OK as we know who/what he represents “HE REPRESENTS US” like in we the people.

Lastly the Globalists have to avoid speaking about Mr Trumps PLATFORM that I gave you a snippet of in the last post. At all costs the globalists dont want Trumps Platform talked about because people say ” Hey Thats Me I Gotta Vote For Trump I want our Factories Back, I Want The Wall, I’ve Had It With The Illegals, I Want My Gun Rights….

Lastly Lastly about Bernie Sanders ” there is no Free Lunch ” Someone Pays For It….Bernies way is Socialist and he is a Commie in Disguise. “Give the fools everything and soon they will be at the gulag where they belong” Stalin

            VOTE TRUMP

          • SnohtBlossom

He says “pretty things” and Bill loves him.

          • Bill G Wilminton NC

            I Am Also Lucky That I Wasn’t Born A TREE I’d Have Leaves !.

          • JeopardyLeyton

A mixture of democratic socialism and capitalism is the only way forward. You in the US have been brainwashed that socialism is evil because it doesn’t benefit your rulers, it benefits you the people – the people whose work and effort makes it possible for billionaires to be billionaires and for corporations to make profit.

Trump does lie all the time, with my own eyes I have seen him say or do something on camera one day and then completely deny it the next day. That is not someone you can trust. He won’t give you anything he promises you because his personality is clearly all about what benefits HIM most at the time – that’s why he lies so blatantly, he is only considering what he thinks will benefit him most in that particular moment, he doesn’t think of what he said in the past. Likewise if he wins, he won’t think of what he promised you in his election campaign. As a psychologist I have seen his type of behaviour before and it is a classic symptom of a personality disorder. I’m sorry but he is not what you think he is.

However as a psychologist I also know that I, facts, truths etc, are all very unlikely to change your mind, as you have given up on them in favour of this strange hope.

      • Jerry C

One doesn’t have to be a genius or smart; just hire a genius or smart one to do the job. I’d vote for a dog if he was running.

The stage is being set, with killer vaccinations on the horizon, via obamacare, to euthanize (by mistake??? right) millions of senior citizens and useless eaters, such as disabled and mentally retarded institutionalized persons. The remainder of their “planned percentile for elimination”, will come from mass riots and caliphate uprisings, towards Christians. The mega churches have been infiltrated and the muzzies are taking names and numbers. They have been planning and scheming while buying off every politician that has a reprobate mind.

The blinded sheeple are piling their hard earned 10% into buckets called collection plates, for decades. Their leaders teach a prosperity, fly-away, feel good tickling of the ears religion, while they allow the plotting of their demise. The leaders have allowed spy cameras that video and snap pictures for ID purposes, of their congregations, as they come and go with their smiley, we gonna rapture away-cause we be holy, faces. It’s the great apostasy of the end times, and many will face a doom and gloom tribulation, because they have been set-up for it, and swallowed the bait with hook line and sinker.

Sadly, and the numbers don’t lie, 80% of all blacks that vote, vote for a liberal democrat candidate. That means when they go to church on Sunday, they have mocked the Author of the Good Book they are carrying, by casting an up-vote for killing babies and supporting all LGBTQ lifestyles.
Those black mega churche leaders, are setting them up for a civil war, and it ain’t against the white man.
More mega eliminations of a selected group of peoples.

  • K

” What is it going to take to convince them that they are wrong?” In many cases nothing can convince them. They have already been turned over, to a reprobate mind. Just take a look around you. How many of these people, just 20 years ago. Would have been receiving treatment in a mental ward? So totally out of contact with reality.

  • JSB

Anyone else believe in giving at least 10% to your local church?

    • Min

God doesn’t need my money, but my neighborhood homeless shelter could use my money

      • Felipe Jones

A good local church usually supports the local homeless shelters as well as other local charities. We give the church 10% or whatever amount to support the pastor, his family and the church staff as well as charity and missionary work. Can all of you be so woefully ignorant of this.

        Jesus said:
        “the worker deserves his wages”

He was talking about preachers. And I’m not talking about the charlatans out there of which there are many but rather the unheralded ones doing God’s work quietly, anonymously and without fanfare.

        • anonymous

I work a day job, serve in the church, and other non-church ministries. I don’t expect a paycheck for giving freely of my time. I support myself and my family. Is it too much to ask pastors to do the same? Why did the apostle Paul work a day job building tents? Shouldn’t he have just lived off of the good will of the people? I thought church wasn’t a building but Jesus Christ living in us. A free message of hope and love. Jesus overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves in the church. If churches are earning all this money, why aren’t churches considered charities?

          • Felipe Jones

So then don’t give to your church. But maybe you should consider reading ALL of Jesus’ words on this subject rather than cherry-picking the ones that seem to support your position of not giving. In the OT God asked for 10% to the temple. That means we keep 9 out of 10. Seems reasonable, doesn’t it.

          • anonymous

The only laws I uphold are the ones God hand-wrote in the ten commandments, everything else is optional. I guess that’s the freedom of grace. I’m not going to argue semantics anymore, God bless you for being obedient.

    • anonymous

No. I used to, but then I realized churches are just non-profit businesses. Old testament tithe was a portion of food grown from your land given to help feed the clergy, widows and fatherless. Tithe has been used to extort the already poor by means of using guilt and condemnation. I give money to my local Narcotics Anonymous programs. I feel it is put to better use, instead of new banners and sound equipment at most churches.

      • Jerry C

Even non-profits have to function profitably (laws on how much allowed to hold) or at least break-even in order to stay in business.

        • anonymous

You said it, “stay in business.”

    • anonymous

We had a special guest speaker come to our church. On top of the regular ten percent tithe they asked us to bless this guest speaker with an extra offering, and then buy his overpriced “book.” The book looked like a pamphlet. Too many messengers of God are using Jesus as a product. Salvation is meant to be free, it’s a disgrace that the church is fleecing people today.

These jobs pollute the environment.. It is better they are gone for good. We should support Obama clean energy policy which will produce equally good paying jobs using wind and solar.

    • anonymous

There is no such thing as clean energy, there is waste and pollution in every form of energy production. The solar panels are manufactured in China so we don’t see the pollution. Every energy technology has a shelf life, what happens to all the old wind turbines and solar panels? They end up in a landfill. I think biodiesel is a better alternative, we can use the same technology and burn cleaner fuel. We should all have bio-diesel vehicles. The real problems are the oil and coal industries lobbying to keep their technologies at the top. Although, I’m not so sure we could change at this point. We’re too dependent on cheap oil.

      • Fat Joe

I’m a bio diesel guy for the last fifteen years.
I own three fast food burger joints and I use the
vegetable oil from my fryers and power my twenty
year old Mercedes diesel. I had some minor
modifications done in order to do this but, the
savings both in money and environment has been
        huge.

        • anonymous

Awesome, that’s what I’m talking about. Thanks for sharing.

        • JC Teecher

I have two neighbors that taught me some valuable information.

One built his own mini bio diesel plant in his garage. The diesel I got from him was amazing in my diesel tractor. I used to harvest tons of hay. There was nothing like the smell of fresh cut hay and french fries cooking at less than .50 cents a gallon while generating all the hp I needed.

One wealthy retired and “very green” neighbor built a big garage to park her total electric Tesla in. She had it built strategically with one roof side facing due south. It is covered in High tech solar panels wired into a switching station that puts the excess back onto the grid.

She never receives an electric bill, and the check she receives each month from her electric provider, offsets her initial investment.

          True stories.

      • Bill G Wilminton NC

I drive a vehicle that can burn: diesel, biodiesel, kerosene, vegetable oil ( from olive to peanut ) and oil made from recycled plastic. Has no airbags, catalytic converters and with no computers can survive an EMP blast.

What are clean energy? Solar and wind? Who’s going to design and harness them, you? Are you a Physicist or Engineer? Solar and wind energy has been around since God created earth but no man, no matter how intelligent has yet perfected harnessing God’ s natural creation. Solar and wind energy harnessing are inefficient and not worth the time and expense. God gave us fossil fuel and the knowledge to immolate the sun we call nuclear but we will not use them because lawyers like Obama thinks they are engineers and know how to design ways to make solar and wind energy more efficient.

The chances of Donald Trump being our President are about 1 in 3.
I suggest everyone take a real strong look at the Electorial College and who they are for, not who the public wants them to be for.
If Hillary has bought off the Electorial College then she will be your next President.
If a stock market crash occurs before the election it is likely that Donald Trump will become your next President.
A lot of people are betting on a crash just after the election not before the election. If so then they will have Hillary to deal with.
I am no economist. NO nothing about economic theory.
What I do know is basic. And that is the mistake the economists are all making. They are not going to the basic cause of the likely depression.
    The cause is Obamacare.
What makes or breaks an economy is discretionary income of the masses.
If you have the discretionary income are you going to spend it or save it? Inflation depends on government printing more money than there are commodities. Wages are going to hell. That means they are consistantly going down as people are laid off. There is a certain time factor in when you might get another job if you are able to find a similar job paying a similar salary. So a lot of people are going to save what ever they can for the bad times ahead.
    Not good for retailers.
If my dollar is worth 80 cents a year from now it simply does not pay to save money over spending it.
The commodities in today’s retail marketplace are going down in price everyday. Walmart is a good example of prices constantly in competition with other retail stores. So tomorrow what was 20 dollars might be 7 dollars on clearance.
Today’s retailers do not stock a lot of minor items in their stores. It is more profitable to them if you special order the products into a Walmart than to carry an item on the shelves.
They are losing big time to the internet market.
So what is different then from what is happening now?
The big difference is a wild market place where wages are unstable.
Unions had a place. That place was to constantly attempt to get higher wages for their groups. In turn the cost of goods here constantly went up. The solution for many corporations was to take the jobs where they controlled the increase if any of wages. Meaning overseas. No regulation. No price increases. Fewer taxes.
Only that leaves no room for government to increase taxes to pay the bills. If you eat the discretionary income of the average worker then they eventually will not buy retail goods they do not really have to have.
If the last wage increase they saw was 20 years ago then that discretionary income no longer exists. If you increase their health costs by a lot then they are often operating in the red.

    • JC Teecher

“If a stock market crash occurs before the election it is likely that Donald Trump will become your next President.”

I believe there is even a greater chance of ‘no’ election, if the markets crash.

It is starting to look that way….hopefully the predictions are wrong and Obama is not the anti-Christ. A lot of people don’t realize that Obama would be able to run a third term if martial law is declared…..

        • JC Teecher

While me or no one else can, with 100% accuracy, predict the day/date of the coming economic collapse and the death of the petro dollar, I can say with 100% accuracy, that Obama is not the Antichrist. Obama is a “type”, just like Nebuchadnezzar, and King Herod.
Just like: 1 MAO ZEDONG. China (1949-76) Regime Communist Victims 60 million. China’s so-called ‘Great Helmsman’ was in fact the greatest mass murderer in history. …
2 JOSEPH STALIN. Soviet Union (1929-53) Regime Communist Victims 40 million. …
3 ADOLF HITLER. Germany (1933-45) Regime Nazi dictatorship Victims 30 million.

Under Obama and (Clintons), the deaths are not as visual, as they are a direct result of their policies. Mostly of the increased killings of the innocent in the womb.

One of Satan’s names is “Death”. He is Supernatural.
Obama is not supernatural, but flesh.
If he could snap his fingers and make lightening come down from Heaven, then there might be a hint of a possibility, even though the timing for Antichrist/Satan’s return to the earth is yet a little while, and when he returns in his mother ship, with all his demonic/fallen angels, looking like Messiah, the whole world (except those sealed with truth) will whore and wonder after him.

I worked in the foundry industry all my life up until a year ago. It was an iron and steel foundry. We cast parts for the oil field, mining equipment, power generation, valve industry and a host of other businesses. It has all dried up due to the drop in oil prices, no longer using coal, or mining in general. A lot of good men lost their jobs. I have to wonder if we were still using coal, would our foundry still be producing castings; would Caterpillar and John Deere still be selling mining equipment?

    • anonymous

Probably, that is why the green energy agenda is a bunch of horse manure. We can’t afford to use anything other than cheap coal and oil. Unless we switch to biodiesel. But, the infrastructure has created a dependence on cheap energy. It’s like trying to cut off a heroin addict. You need to do it slowly or else the addict dies.

  • FirstShirt

A very large percentage of society have been conditioned for many, many years to believe what the Government, via the media, tells them. We have become a nation of Sheep.

    • anonymous

I know. I just saw a local news special on a group of individuals waiting outside the zoo trying to catch Pokemon at night. I thought, “these must be kids.” Then they were interviewed, it was millennials…..I was ashamed. I am a millennial and it made me ashamed to be one.

      • ALWAYSTOMORROW

Millenials or what Clint Eastwood calls the pu–y generation.

        • anonymous

Hey, I resemble that statement 🙂

  • Ex Tempus

..Bill Maher (tv host), claims that Jesus Christ NEVER existed!….if he is abusing the first amendment, will God punish the American economy?

    • HeyAHuman

Somehow I doubt that Bill Maher has that much of an effect on our collective fate…

      • JC Teecher

However; their are many, many ignorant people that follow such nonsense as what Bill Maher spews via the liberal media.
Unless, he is able to have a change of heart, before he dies, there is a special place in hell awaiting he and his followers.

    • anonymous

I don’t think you can “abuse” the first amendment. Bill Maher has the freedom to say whatever he wants to say. We also have the choice whether or not we want to listen to him.

      • We have a winner

        Thank you!

  • Ann Broadhead

We the people are being duped!
All the “Eco-green” renewal energy saving people are robbing our job market blind…….. The blades for all the wind farm turbine wind mills, are being contracted through a company(TPI Compisites, Inc.) in Arizona, and they in turn send
the jobs to a company accross the border to Mexico!!!!
Right across the border to Juarez, Mexico!!!
This is part of an agreement with Gamesa, a Spain, yes Spain based company!
Are you all with me here? Let this sink in. Foreign money is being made through these US contracts for windmills everywhere in the USA! Think how many blades!!!!
    This is outrageous folks!
Look around, travel to rural areas and the Midwest, and now off the eastern coast of the USA how many are currently and how many planned for the future!
This should be shouted to the roof tops!
This is why we have no jobs in America. It is sleight of hand,
Convince us we desperately need a product for a dire reason, then send it out of the states to be made cheaply, while stuffing your pockets in some make believe legal way via kick backs.

It is truly a way for rich cats in High places in Anerica to fill their pockets with those kick backs, all the while stealing the citizens of the jobs they desperately need to survive, and off the dole also wanting to be out of the clutch of government control.
    Think twice before you vote!
Remember which party was in power when this whole misleading movement began and continues to push hard for.
All on a myth that we are controlling the changes taking place world-wide. We can try to be responsible people in protecting our earth, but to the point of robbing citizens of jobs? No!

Remember “Oz” in the children’s story book. We have been fooled for a very long time. Gradually a seemingly illogical myth became fact, and fact became a mantra, then it was to be taught to our school children.

Wake up folks and seek to find the truth, through researching all you can on this rip off of stealing our jobs.
Expose these fact to all of those waiting for jobs.
The data is there for anyone with energy and fortitude to find it.

Great post. America has become the home of corporate fascism.

  • Evil_shadow

with 30K per year you would fit in top 5% in my country, where average (statistic calculated) salary is just a bit over 1000€ per month (and real around 600-800 if lucky). And my country is part of Eu… I do feel sorry for all those people who have lost their job, they will have hard time get one back.competition is savage, well payed jobs are myth, having high standard of living and become unemployed…been there, tried that, it sucks big time.

  • Joe

Pretty soon it’s going to bite Walmart in the butt. You can’t keep people working part time. When you are so short of help and people get sick of waiting in line people are going too start shopping somewhere else.

    • Nono

No, no they will not. Most people cannot afford to shop anywhere else.
Plus, they are a partner to the Gov’t. Remember when WalMart accepted EBT cards from shoppers even though they weren’t funded? The store knew they would eventually get paid, and this endeared them to the poor.
So, you may not like the lines and probably afford to shop elsewhere, but most people need to stretch that dollar and can’t afford to shop elsewhere.

      • anonymous

Right. The low prices have already shut out a lot of mom and pop stores who can’t afford to compete with Walmart’s cutthroat pricing. Partly, by carrying inferior Chinese products. Then when there’s nobody else in town they can raise their prices again. Welcome to corporate fascism.

      • john

yeah, customers have all the time as they have no job. Walmart is the best place to wait in line for hours. at least they feel busy

      • Joe

Trust me it will bite Walmart in the butt. Who wants to wait in line all day. I do not. My former boss when I worked retail in high school did this. If the store was busy every checkout line was open too get people in and out of the store.

        • John

Since you are so rich take your rich butt somewhere else to shop. No one has a gun to your head making you shop there,

          • Joe

I work there John so I know what is going on with Walmart. In a few years someone else will do a better job in retail and Walmart will go by the wayside

  • JC Teecher

There are many knowns, and a few unknowns.

Thanks to Michael and Meranda, we are privy to many of the knowns, with what our financial and economical outlook is. Of course, we could play dumb and say that it all depends on what the meaning of “is-is”.
Most millennials don’t really know or care about the underlying message of that statement…”It depends on what the definition of “is”, is.” Ha!

    • anonymous

      Amen brother.

      • JC Teecher

Amen, and if one looks back to where we were in terms of increased instability, a year ago; it definitely is a different world today, with even more instability.

August of 2015 brought some sad news to most of the world. September 2015, as the Shemitah unfolded, was even more saddening, as the NWO was kicked off at the UN, and fully endorsed by the Vatican.

  • John

I my part of the country, a lot of manufacturing jobs have come in in the past few years, mostly to support foreign automakers that have moved to the U.S. But I have been told they mostly pay $10 per hour.

    • anonymous

After 50 years of loyalty to the company, they declare bankruptcy and are not responsible to pay pensions. In the name of saving money for the investors. Welcome to corporate fascism.

I wish Michael would write an article on the green energy deception. Real green energy solutions like bio diesel get hidden behind solar and wind power. Bio diesel can be made by using old cooking oil. The energy output is more efficient than solar power and the energy can be stored without toxic battery technologies. We need a paradigm shift……

    • Evil_shadow

green tech (biodiesel included) are just stopgap between fossil based economy and cold fusion or at least thorium based power plants…

  • alan

For those 195,000 that lost their jobs 300 million got a huge break on fuel costs and all kinds of shipping. What I have seen is some companies run off or lay off the higher paid staff and then rehire those position at $5 to 10$ an hour less. I think a lot of it is not so much job loss as wage cuts in disguise We’re in a death spiral now, the media keeps us pretty well distracted at whats going on.

  • J.C

What I don’t get is, if the economy is so bad, why the positive jobs data and sentiments on the markets? Are these data figures rigged to keep the investors happy?

  • Kent Harris

It seems like we are in a recession of some sort. Why is the media refusing to report on the state of economy? That’s right, that would make Obama look bad because liberalism has been the enemy of capitalism. An article from WND reported that health insurance would increase by double digit for next year.

    • anonymous

We are beyond capitalism. It’s corporate fascism now.

so trying to beat Russia at its own game, got US into this mess eh ?

what is so special about real estate, isn’t that also fuelled by liquidity and low lending rates ?

  • thegeorgespyman

Canada’s job loss report was 71,400 full time jobs eliminated and 40,200 part time jobs created. For 30,200 individuals that means no job. It’s still difficult to get people to look at the hard issues that brought us here. Our leaders told us for years free trade was the answer to everything. It has taken business to the lowest common denominator on every front in a race to the bottom. Einstein said, We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them. So when we vote we really have to cast that vote outside of the traditional candidates who got us into the messes we’re in. That is the quantum leap of faith because we are inured to establishment candidates and the propaganda matrix they extol. But God have us free will choice. We have to hone our own skills at discernment. It can well start by turning off the TV and thinking for yourself as radical an idea as that is.

  • David

I for 1 will be voting for Donald Trump but I already know my vote won’t matter or count like the Majority of you all on this site. it is the Electoral (Politician’s) votes that matter not ours. The Democrats are in Deep Denial about the State of our economy among other things they refuse to admit to since these things are occurring on “Theyr’e Watch”! as long as the Democrats refuse to acknowledge these problems America is experiencing then nothing will get fixed or changed.
